Initial Plans

Initial Reaction
Brief Initial Production Ideas:
- Music Video
- Marketing – product advert, product posters,
billboards etc.
- Documentary
- Charity Advert – children in need, diabetes UK,
- would be serious and informative.
My Personal Strengths:
- Video Production
- Creating Digital Marketing (posters etc)
- Audio production (mainly syncing to videos
and sound recording)
- On location filming
- Planning and pre production
- Time management
My Thoughts:
For this project I need to choose
something that shows off my
main skill strengths across all
aspects of the production. I also
need to choose something that I
know I will enjoy and have a final
piece that I love.
I want my product to be
something that I personally
connect with so there is a deeper
meaning behind it. This could be
done with either a feeling or
subject etc.

Looking a little deeper into why I chose a music video:
All my life, since my first memories, I have been surrounded by music. Both my parents listen to a wide
range of genre's with music being played at home, while in the car, on holiday. In fact pretty much
everywhere we are.
My earlier taste in music was shaped by my parents, but as I've grown older I've found the type of music
I like myself. I have inherited my parents love of a wide range of genre's and music from different ages
including the music produced in the early 1990's.
I wanted to create a music video, something which would represent us moving out of lockdown and
gaining some measure of personal freedom again. For me the beach has always been a place I feel most
free and associate with good times which I know is also the same for many people.
The track itself was chosen as I think it's very upbeat, makes me smile and its one I associate with
holidays. However the official music video is a bit boring, just simple footage of the band in one location
signing the song. It's not badly filmed but I wanted to do something which brings a bit more life to the
track.
So far in the course the element I've most enjoyed has been the filming and more importantly the
editing of the filming I do. So the choice of making a music video was a natural one and I believe it will
give me enough scope to continue to experiment with different shot types, transitions and the
locations.
The tasks of producing a short video, music videos are roughly 3 minutes long, which in itself is
quite challenging. The need to be able to tell a story or represent the song in an engaging and
meaningful way but with a very tight time constraint is difficult. I like a challenge, so this is another
reason I felt a music video would be a good choice for this assignment.
Mood Board
Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected?
• Most of the images have bright colours such as blue and yellow.
• Most of the images are set at the beach/coastal town.
• A lot of the images are from a first person perspective – each one being a
different act such as eating ice cream and walking in the sea.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My final product will be filmed with a first person perspective so these images
give me a better idea of how that will look. I also included images of the most
common beach activities which I can consider featuring in my music video.
The bright coloured images look much nicer then the slightly duller ones so I
will plan my filming to be on a day with good, bright and sunny weather to
ensure I can achieve this bright and fun look.
