My Eating Habits
My eating habits! When I bring lunch to school, all of the people in the Cohort (even the professors!)
are shocked! It is a rare sight to see me with lunch. Most of the time, it is because I m never very
hungry until around 4. And I ll admit it is just not healthy. I rarely ever eat breakfast either! Not only
do I not eat three meals, but I m also not eating like I should. I ll be honest, I have been living off
Pizza Rolls. Now, I am not saying I am going to go on a crazy diet or starting eating broccoli, but I
need to start eating more and eating less Pizza Rolls.
Drink more water! I will be completely honest right now, over the course of the entire semester I
probably only finished 3 bottles of water total. I ve never been much of a water drinker, but I can t
continue this bad habit this semester. I decided that I have to at least drink the recommended amount
of water per day. To help me out, I am a using a water bottle that has lines and times! It will help me
manage my new habit and stay on top of how much water I am drinking. You can t pour from an
empty glass!
My sleeping habits! If you don t sleep enough, you can t be your best self! How did this go wrong last
semester? Well, last semester I was waking up at 6 am and not going to bed until 12 1am! Why? I was
doing this because a huge portion of my day surrounded school and homework and then when it was
time for bed, I would try to have some me time and then end up staying up late. I decided that this
semester, I will

Musical Composers Essay
Musical Composers
Baroque and Classical Orchestras Differences
Baroque Orchestras Classical Orchestras
String section and basso continuo central to the orchestra. Other instruments are occasional additions.
Standard group of four sections: strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion. Different instruments
treated individually.
Fairly small; generally 10 40 players. Larger than baroque; great variation to the numbers of players.
Flexible use of timbres, e.g. Timpani and trumpets used generally just for festive music. Standardised
sections. Most sections used regularly.
Tone colour is distinctly secondary to other musical elements. Greater variety of tone colour and more
rapid changes of colour.

First movement has solo passages extending into long sections; alternated between four or five
ritornello sections. First movement constructed in a variant of ritornello form with a double
exposition.
Violin is preferred concerto solo instrument although the harpsichord becomes more and more popular
throughout the century. The newly prominent piano takes over as the most popular solo instrument.
Composers rely heavily on ritornello form. More freedom in the form although a sinfonia proper is
later developed.
The melody is made up of long, drawn out phrases. The melodies are shorter motifs.
Minuet and trio third movement. Minuet and trio is left out of the dramatic symphonic form.
Expansion of Music in the 20th Century
There are many elements that led to the expansion of music in the 20th Century. In some ways these
elements were all linked to each other and it is difficult to say what events or ideas triggered the huge
development of music. For example, World War I and II in the first half of the century lead to the rapid
development of technology and communications as well as, eventually, political and social freedom,
all aspects which have created changes and growth. The great advances in technology were in part
responsible for globalism, although nationalism was also partly a product of the wars. The advent of
the Great Wars also produced great emotion.
The father of 20th Century music is often said to be Claude

Miami Art Museum Essay
Perez of Miami Art is a Museum of modern and contemporary art, dedicated to collecting and
exhibiting international art of the 20th and 21st centuries. It has influences of the cultures of the
Caribbean, North and South America that add vitality and texture to the civic landscape. The effort of
the city of Miami to attract artists and cultural exhibitions have helped build a magnificent installation
as part of the revitalization of the Downtown of Miami, which can be visited by residents and visitors.
The Perez Art Museum will find numerous exhibitions of art and events with well known local artists

How To Struggle In Laura Hillenbrand s Unbroken
The American olympian Gail Devers once said, Sometimes we fall, sometimes we stumble, but we
can t stay down. We can t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds
character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn t think we
could be that strong. In Laura Hillenbrand s biography Unbroken, the determination Louis Zamperini
possessed, personifies Gail Devers words when, Undoubtedly, Zamperini s will to survive helped him
reunite with his family after World War II, after he fought against the brutal and sadistic beatings he
endured in Japanese POW camps.

The fear of the POW prison camps still lurks in Louie s mind and every prisoner returning home. To
sooth their war torn minds and souls many veterans turned to alcohol for comfort;in fact, Louie was
one of those who turned to alcohol to ease his mind. Drinking made Louie violent and full of rage and
if life is going to get any better something had to change. Louie s determination like a presidential race
pushed him to overcome insurmountable obstacles and refused to admit defeat. One night Louie
attended a sermon and something clicked in Louie reminding him of a promise he made to God: If you
will save me, I will serve you forever (382). That night when Louie arrived home, He carried the
bottles to the kitchen sink, opened them, and poured their contents into the drain (383), this was the
beginning of the new and improved Louie. Later Louie created a camp to help young boys who ve
gone through the same experiences as him, such as getting into fist fights or creating trouble with the
law. When Louie wasn t with boys at camp he gave speeches of his experiences. As years passed
Louie was still climbing, running, and taking on new activities like skateboarding: When I get old, he

Othello: Hero or Stranger
Othello is a hero due to being a hardened and vicious warrior on the battlefield but he is also a tragic
hero in this play. A tragic hero by definition is a literary character who makes a judgment error that
inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. For example Othello is the husband of Desdemona whom
he murders because he has been misled by the villainous Iago. Allowing himself to be manipulated
instead following his heart, he attempts to redeem himself then he realizes he put his trust in the wrong
people and it is too late to save his beloved Desdemona who he smothered ... Show more content on

depictions such as thick lips, and the devil, from Iago are further used to play on Othello s Outwardly

his portrayal, as he is not afforded the decency to be called by name.

Essay on The Commander
To what extent is the Commander presented as both villain and a figure of sympathy?
The commander can be seen as a man torn between two worlds, he was one of the founders of Gilead
yet still enjoys and yearns for the pleasures of the old society he managed to break. The commander is
cool and collected on the surface but underneath he is bitter and corrupted for the world he has
managed to create. The commander secretly longs for the world to be as it once was and this is why he
savours his time with Offred because she may remind him of life before Gilead. It is also ironic how
both characters feel under the surface an anger and repression of Gilead and they both want to break
free. However on the surface when they play scrabble with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

This could represent the villainous side to him, as his power and authority create a shield, which hides
his true self. This means Offred and the reader are not completely sure of who he is and his wants.
Throughout this chapter the theme of having or gaining more power is very evident. The fact that the
commander does have so much power and Offred has so little makes him more villainous. This is
because we can evidently see how Offred could be so easily manipulated by this very powerful man.
However we see a more villainous side to The Commander when he asks Offred to play scrabble with
him. He manipulates Offred into having almost a false relationship with him because this is non
existent with his wife, Serena Joy. The relationship between the commander and Serena Joy is very
numb, cold and formal. They are very alike in character and so they control each other. Their
relationship is somewhat business like and lifeless. In one chapter Serena Joy says to Offred He s my
Husband till death do us part and this sentence feels almost forced. As the reader we feel she says this
because of the last handmaid and because of the jealousy she feels towards Offred. She wants to take
it away before she can even have it. This relationship with Serena Joy puts things out of balance and
Offred and in a way wants to go back to normality. He is unhappy about the situation in Gilead and
wants to forget about the present and live in the past. He

Argumentative Essay On Antidepressant
Antidepressants have become the most commonly prescribed drugs in the United States. These drugs
work in many different ways, but are intended to treat serious psychological disorders such as
depression. They can be prescribed by any medical doctor, however, and are often used even when
they are not clearly indicated as necessary or even effective. Americans are increasingly turning to
antidepressants as a quick fix to real or perceived psychological problems that can often be treated
more efficiently in other ways with less risk to their physical well being. Antidepressants are drugs
that are primarily used to treat depression, although many are frequently being utilized in other
disorders. The main types of antidepressants are tricyclics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many people with mild to moderate depression can be successfully treated with psychotherapy and
other non medical interventions such as bright light; exercise; relaxation techniques; eliminating the
use of substances like recreational drugs, alcohol and caffeine; getting regular sleep; eating a balanced
diet; and stress reduction. But when these interventions have been tried and failed, or when a patient s
depression is severe enough to interfere with their ability to function in their work, relationships, and
self care, doctors will recommend antidepressant medications as well. There are several different
classes of antidepressants to choose from, including older medications called monoamine oxidase
inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclics; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs); norepinephrine and
serotonin reuptake inhibitors; and others. Despite the differences in these medications effects on
neurotransmitters, chemical properties, side effects, and pharmaceutical company advertising, they all
are EQUALLY EFFECTIVE in treating depression. The choice between them, therefore, is made on
the basis of other factors. When deciding which antidepressants may be best for a given patient, a
doctor should take into consideration several factors. The first is the patient s history. If a patient has

Wendy Cope Reading Scheme Summary
Wendy Cope: Reading Scheme
When I was younger I had no idea what this world held for me. I was innocent. As a child, I was
innocent of mortality, as a teen hope, and as a young adult love. However, later on that innocence took
on the role of ignorance. Not in the sense of not being knowledgeable or educated on the subject but
rather knowing it all too well that I choose to not acknowledge it. Innocence can be served as an
instrument to tune out your surroundings when things take a toll. It can be an illusion from reality to
protect what one desires to be true feel rather than what is actual. In Wendy Cope s poem Reading
Scheme, Cope writes about the child s viewpoint of an affair by using the villanelle form to illustrate
the inability of children to make connections and ultimately argue that innocence is simply an illusion.
In order to understand the illusion of innocence in Wendy Cope s poem we must first familiarize
ourselves on the subject of innocence and how, depending on the mindset, it is defined. Also, we must
alert ourselves of Cope s writing style and the purpose of her writing. According to the article
Archaeology: the loss of innocence, the loss of disciplinary innocence is the price of expanding
consciousness...the loss is irreversible and the prize substantial (Clarke 6). Are we rewarded when our
innocence abandons us or has suffering begun because now things are seen in a different aspect. The
author of the article, David Clarke, claims innocence is a continuous losing process (Clarke 6). We
continue to loss some sort of innocence into our teens, adulthood, and even our later years. It is when
we choose to open ourselves to new experiences that our innocence beforehand disappears. Cope is
well known for her manner of addressing serious or grave topics in a humorous way. Her writing style
has double meaning to it. The serious tone of it hides between the lines of humor. The poem is about a
mother having an affair with the milkman. Toward the end of the poem the husband returns home and
discovers what his wife has done then goes after the milkman. All the while the children, Peter and
Jane, are watching the event but also getting distracted by other things that are happen like Look at the

Fairness, Open Mindedness And Neutrality
Professionals in the United States Army stand apart from others involved in particular careers in the
civilian world. Whereas many vocations contain some of the characteristics of a professional, a lot of
careers do not include all of the necessary to differentiate themselves as being as close to a
professional as a United States soldier. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service that
the individual has in the Army.
A professional is said to have specialized knowledge and skill which can only be acquired through
persistent education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of objective standards of
proficient competence that separate the practicing professional from their peers and measure the
proficiency of such professionalism. This professional knowledge must also be intellectual in nature.
Soldiers are required to accept responsibility for their actions and resulting consequences. This
includes avoiding even the appearance of offensiveness. Accountability promotes careful, well thought
out decision making and limits thoughtless action. Fairness, open mindedness and neutrality are
important aspects of fairness. Soldiers must be committed to justice in the performance of their
official duties. Decisions must not be illogical, impulsive, or biased. Individuals must be treated
equally and with tolerance.
Such professional is the paratrooper. Paratroopers are military parachutists military personnel trained
in parachuting into an

Ans3. These fully automated information kiosks provide a very high business value for the airline
industry which is one of the most emerging fields because of the increasing globalization. Thus a large
no of people keep travelling for business purposes to various countries. These corporate people do not
like spending their precious time waiting in the queue to check in to the airport. As a result, the
implementation of such self service kiosks are always of a very high value for the airline industry as it
helps them getting more customers.
Yes, they do give an airline company a lot of competitive advantage. When an airline company
implements such an information system, by which a customer can do all the things sitting at home and
has to just walk in to the airport half an hour before his flight would surely give that company a
competitive advantage over the others who are not implementing. Because the customers of those
airline companies have to spend a lot of time after coming to the airport when the other company lets
them do everything at their convenience.

Ammonium Sulfate Lab
Ammonium Sulfate Precipitation In order to isolate the rubisco protein successfully, the protein
needed to be salted out by using Ammonium Sulfate (NH4)2SO4. This changed the solubility of the
protein by attracting water molecules. A high salt concentration increased the solubility of rubisco.
The solution was centrifuged at 9,000xg for 15 minutes, which created Pellet 1 (P1) and supernatant 1
(S1). Then it was centrifuged a second time which created P2 and S2. The results were shown in
figure 1 and 2. Further analyzes showed that rubisco was likely present in S1 and in P2.

resulted in the presence of rubisco.
Protein Electrophoresis The purpose of protein electrophoresis was to verify the presence of rubisco in
the solutions and see how many subunits are in the samples. The size was also determined by this
method. The buffer chambers were filled with SDS PAGE (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate polyacrylamide

their documentary film, The True Cost , that these stark contrasts are simply two sides of the

America s materialism and consumerism in particular as the root of the problem surrounding

whether or not the information should be taken at face value or with a pinch of salt. One such
example couples quotes from Morgan s interview with Dr. Tim Kasser of Nox College with a
montage of advertisement snippets and clips of major shopping hubs lined with crowds of

What Makes A Word Essay
Posted 30/05/2015 by Iain Campbell
What Makes a Word, a Word?
If a new word or neologism is not created by a lexicographer (the person who compiles a dictionary),
or any individual, then who decides what words will be a part of the English language? The speakers
of the language are who choose what words are used and which are not. It s the day to day users of the
language introducing and maintaining words, this is what evolves and shapes the way the English
language is spoken and understood by the people who use it.
There are a number ways in which a new word can be introduced into any given language, in this post
I will focus on the English language and the techniques commonly used to make new words in the
language. Not only does a word need to be created to be part of a language but it needs to be used as
part of the language regularly to be well recognised and accepted by the speakers, and there for an
official word in the language.
Shared Words
The first way a word can be made is through a different language sharing or donating a word with
another language or country. An English example of this technique would be the word ninja which
English speakers took from the Japanese and now is sometimes recognised as an English word. Once
the word is taken from a language the pronunciation and origins of the word become lost with time
and people can forget or are not able to tell that the word has foreign origins. Similarly Caramel is
stolen from another language and

Neck Room Digestive System
The head is a bony structure that holds major sensory organs such as ears, eyes, tongue, nose, nerves,
and brain. It helps with the intake of air and use of senses as in vision, hearing, tasting, feeling, and
smell. Part of the respiratory and digestive system runs through the neck as well as major arteries and
neck muscles. The face serves as a key point for objective assessment to any changes of symmetry
movement or involuntary movements. Finally, the ears are the sensory organ for hearing and
maintaining equilibrium (Jarvis, 2012). First, inspect the head and heck when obtaining the objective
data. The scalp, hair, and cranium should are reviewed for any deformities, lumps, or tenderness.
Secondly, review the face for any changes to facial expression, symmetry, or involuntary movements.
Any changes in the face may be a reflection of problem to Cranial Nerve 7. Next is the assessment of
the temporal artery and the mandibular joint. The patient will open and close their mouth at least twice
to ensure there are no deficiencies in this area. Lastly, is the observation of the maxillary and frontal
sinuses and inspect for any swelling or tenderness. Because the neck area is rich in lymph nodes, it is
important to make note on any developmental changes. Examination includes symmetry, lumps and
pulsations, cervical lymph nodes, carotid pulse and bruits, range of motion, and muscle strength. Any
shortcoming to muscle strength may be a deficiency to Cranial Nerve 11. Special attention is made to

Germany s Tug Of War For Unification
Germany s Tug of War for Unification

This was the first time Germany was a centralized nation. There was the German Confederation which
came about in 1815, to replace the Holy Roman Empire, or the First Reich. The German
Confederation was comprised of 41 German states; this was not a government, however, more an
agreement not to fight each other, and a promise to defend each other in the case of war. The states
were still ruled by monarchies and there was no sort of currency or government body. In 1848 there
was an attempt to unify the German states into a single nation. It was brought about by a revolution,
which caused elections to be held, and a constitution to be drafted. This movement basically crashed
and burned, however. There was debate because Austria Hungary was part of the confederation but the
National Assembly which was convened felt Austria Hungary was too large and only really wanted the
German speaking half in the nation. They didn t have the power to break up the state so leadership of
the state would have fallen on the Prussian Emperor. He did not like the idea of having to act on behalf
of the will of the people and rejected being emperor. This was basically the final nail in the coffin for
that and the rebellion was then squashed. In 1866 following a war with Austria, the German
confederation was replaced by the North German Confederation which was led by the Prussians and
was cut down to 17 states. When the Second Reich was established, Bismarck remained

suspect will inflict a bite. They would not be able to hold the suspect as well if they did not apply
pressure into their grip. Before any dog has to be turned loose, they try to intimidate the person first by
giving them a warning that if they start to run, the dog will be released and will chase after them. A
barking tactic is also used to scare the person into not running away. Even in a case where the officer
and dog seem to have the upper hand, there are many situations where the tables can be completely
turned. Both the officer and the dog are trained to work together as a team. They must be able to fully
trust and understand one another especially when they are placed in extremely dangerous and stressful
situations. It is the responsibility of the officer the dog is being handled by to only use the dog when
the situation absolutely calls for it. Any other way would be very inappropriate and would be a terrible
miss use of the animal. Not being responsible could also put the dog in more of harm s way which can
take a definite turn for the worst.

Intoxication Will Slow Down Your Reaction Time Essays
Intoxication Will Slow Down Your Reaction Time
The experiment tests how long it takes the brain to translate visual information (falling ruler) into your
voluntary (or conscious) motor commands and actions (grasping finger movements) that lead to the
ruler being caught. The shorter the time, the faster your reactions. That s if you were paying attention
in the first place! Indeed practice specifically affects the associative centers in the brain, so that you
can respond faster to what s happening in your visual world. The flow of information along the visual
and motor nerve pathways is relatively constant even with lots of practice.
ALCOHOL CONSUMTION ================== ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, these parts will reach high blood alcohol levels relatively quickly. Alcohol distributes
through body water mainly. This means that men, who have on average more body water then women,
generally achieve lower alcohol concentration. Men have more body water for two reasons: they are
heavier and they have less body fat per kilogram of body weight. Consequently, the same quantity of
alcohol per person usually results in a higher blood alcohol concentration in women as compared to
men.
Alcohol is primarily broken down or metabolized in the liver through two steps mainly: firstly, it is
broken down or oxidized to acetaldehyde by an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenises. Acetaldehyde
is very toxic and held responsible for most of the harmful effects of excessive alcohol consumption.
Secondly, acetaldehyde is efficiently converted into acetate by an enzyme called acetaldehyde
dehydrogenises. Acetate is a harmless compound, which is used for energy generation. The total
amount of ethanol broken down per hour is estimated in the range of 0,1 0,3 gram per kilogram body
weight per hour. This is usually translated into 6 9 gram ethanol per hour for a healthy subject. These
fundamental processes are common to all human beings and sufficient to break down moderate
quantities of alcohol. However, environmental factors (drinking habits) and genetic factors

Comparing Maus I And Maus II
Maus I and Maus II: Intricate Frames of Identity and Experience
Maus is self referential a number of times throughout each volume, with a variety of purposes. The
narrative moves through several interpretive frameworks Vladek s perspective, and Artie s
perspective, both of his father and of his father s story and how he s choosing to tell it. Throughout
these various levels of interpretation, questions are posed in innumerable ways. Vladek s behavior
when he talks about (or even uses) his experiences, Artie s perspective of his father, and the symbolic
representation of the animals, are all expressions of identity that come through as the result of the
individual s frame of interpretation. The text and its subjects are self aware in a variety ... Show more

In the first volume, Artie ruminates on the subject of Jewish stereotypes and the ways in which his
father fits into them. In one panel, he says, In some ways he s just like the racist caricature of the
miserly old Jew (Maus I, Spiegelman 131). It s important to Artie to portray his father accurately, but
he s understandably concerned about playing into stereotypes. Just like the animal and nationality
stereotypes, the stereotypes that Vladek fits into work in two ways. Vladek is the miserly old Jew but
the text shows over and over again that this same pragmatic tendency helped him survive a lot of
times in the war, and so in some ways validates the practice. It s important to note though, that the
tendency to save negatively affected Mala and Artie; they both carried a lot of resentment towards
Vladek in the ways that he denied them a lot of basic necessities, and in a lot of ways prioritized
material items and money over members of his family. So while the text shows an explanation of sorts
for Vladek s behavior, it doesn t necessarily make excuses for the problems he caused with his actions
later on. The engagement between cultural perceptions and lived experience continues the subversive
action that is the basic underlying function of the texts. (Maus II,

Incest Prohibitions In The Middle Ages
Incest prohibitions in the Middle Ages were at their most draconian between the tenth and twelfth
centuries. Not coincidentally, this period also saw a flourishing in Northern Europe of the founding of
women s convents. Gandersheim, one of the most prominent foundations, was renowned for the self
governance and educational opportunities it provided women. Regardless of the opportunities
Gandersheim afforded noble women from the Ottonian court, it had something of a double identity
with respect to its protection of women from incest: a haven for women while also providing the
Ottonian court with a strategy for nuptial control to consolidate its dynastic ambitions. The control the
Ottonian court exercised over which marriages could be legally

Human Rights And International Law
In order to understand the ASEAN Political and Economic Integration, it is crucial to understand the
issues that happened surround ASEAN, particularly to Human Rights and International law issues.
With regards to human right issues, the question is whether the ASEAN way is still working or
ASEAN should start moving and interfere when the issue involves Human Right. This chapter will
study how ASEAN state members solve problems when in relations to Human Rights and
International law. It will discuss whether ASEAN can provide solutions on these problems or active
passively on these issues. This chapter argues that ASEAN failed to provide any solution to the

Most of these cases are usually handled by International Arbitration or International Court. ASEAN
rarely gets involved due to their non involvement principles. Many had seen this as a failure within the
region and had even labelled ASEAN as toothless and lacking of clear mandate (Gil, 2014).
In this article, it will use the case of Singapore and Malaysia in studying how ASEAN solve
international law issues mainly, related to borders and boundaries among ASEAN state members.
Singapore and Malaysia had always have a unique relations among them. This is due to factors such
as geography, history, politics, ideology, economy, culture and ethnicity as well as interdependence
with each other with regards to economy and security (Omar, n.d). However, due to these unique
relations conflicts and tenses sometimes occurs between the two countries.
One of the conflicts that occurs between the two countries is the conflicts with regards to Pedra
Branca (previously known as Batu Puteh). It is an island that is located 8 miles from the shore of
Malaysia and 28miles of the shore of Singapore (Omar, n.d). Malaysia had first published a map in
1974 after their territorial sea was extended to 12n.m, it shows that the island was a part of Singapore
territories (Trost, 1993:28). However, Trost noted that the disputes began in 1979 when Malaysia had

The Rise Of Christianity And Christianity
Christianity began its succession into the most dominant worldwide religion after Jesus crucifixion
and resurrection. We heard Him say, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days
build another made without hands. Upon Jesus death and resurrection, he completed this task setting
forth the development of Christianity. Since Jesus left no formal authoritative power, organization, or
agreed upon scriptures, a wide variety of sects gained popularity in the development of Christianity.
Most of these sects were later deemed as heretic, one of the most notable being Gnosticism.
Gnosticism was a dualist religion believing the material world evil and the invisible spirit realm good.
This belief obligated Gnosticism to follow Docetic interpretations. Docetism is the belief that Jesus
was never truly man but rather a divine from the spirit world. All forms of Christianity, however,
believe Jesus is son of God sent as humanity s savior from damnation. Docetism, along with other
aspects of Gnosticism, drove other Christians condemn Gnosticism as heresy. Gnosticism, however, is
more comparable to Canonical Christians than realized. Specifically, the distinction between Docetism
and strict Canonical belief is not only insignificant but also justifiable due to Canonical contradictions
surrounding Jesus existence.
Canonical Christians belief on Jesus time on earth is exhibited clearly by The Gospel of John, The
Word became flesh and made his dwelling among

Impact Of Celebrity Culture On Society
Celebrity culture is a growing issue that has been cultivated by the prosperity of social media in the
modern world. Celebrity culture effects society in many different ways both positive and negative,
such as celebrities being portrayed as role models in the media, and corporations using celebrity
endorsement to gain clients from the existing fans of the celebrity used. The first article, titled
Celebrity, youth culture and the question of role models discusses how celebrities are portrayed as
good and bad role models in the media based upon previous actions. The author of the editorial piece
was Kirsty Fairclough who published the article to The Conversation on September 15, 2015.
Fairclough takes the side of celebrities being irresponsible and not set for being role models of
growing teenagers, as well as this, celebrities set extreme unreachable standards of physical beauty
resulting in mental illness. The second article, authored by George Monbiot is titled Celebrity culture
isn t just harmless fun it s the smiling face of the corporate machine . The opinion piece was published
in The Guardian on the 21st of December 2016. It debates the effectiveness of celebrity endorsement
by large corporations in an attempt to reach out to existing fans of the celebrity. The third piece takes
the form of a magazine cover from the magazine Who , the magazine publication was released on the
23rd of October 2017.

Lab Report Titration
Abstract: In this experiment, our team analyzed an unknown acid and a sample of vinegar solution by
the process of titration using a 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution as the titrant, as this solution is a
strong base. In addition, our team members used phenolphthalein as indicator in the reaction.
Introduction: First of all, for this experiment our team made use of several glassware, such as a buret,
three 250 mL erlenmeyer flask, and a 10 mL flask. Additional, we also used a buret clamp, a plastic
bottle with stopper, sodium hydroxide in form of pellets, potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP),
phenolphthalein as indicator, unknown acid and vinegar. The process of titration involves measuring
the exact volume of the known concertation (which in this case is sodium hydroxide) that is required
to react with a measured volume of an unknown concertation. Our team used sodium hydroxide, since
it is a common solution used in titration analysis of samples containing a solute acid. Nevertheless,
sodium hydroxide must be used quickly, since this solution can react with carbon dioxide from the
atmosphere and its concentration will change with the time. In order to not add an excess of titrant
than the necessary for the reaction, our team made use of phenolphthalein as indicator. This indicator
in particular changes to a pale pink color from basic pH. On the other hand, we also titrated a sample
of vinegar with the same sodium hydroxide solution, since vinegar is a dilute solution of acetic

Antonin Scalia Beliefs
Antonin Scalia served as an Associate Justice from the years 1986 to 2016. In which Scalia was an
extremely important player for the conservative party and wrote many well known, important and
wonderfully well worded opinions on many cases the Supreme Court decided during his service as an
Associate Justice. Scalia came from a small family in New Jersey with an Italian heritage. Throughout
his youth he developed strong conservative views that guided his decisions through life and that
ultimately led him to the Supreme Court where he helped shape the legal world with his opinions and
dissents. Antonin Scalia was the only child of Salvadore Eugene and Catherine Panaro Scalia, both of
whom hailed from Italy. Scalia s conservative views were instilled ... Show more content on

Scalia argues that the Constitution should not be interpreted too strictly or too leniently, but
reasonably. Scalia argues that being a textualist is essentially interpreting the Constitution for what it
says, not what they think it was trying to say. Scalia believes that interpreting the Constitution for
what the framers meant it to say. However, he also believed that being a good textualist required not
being too literal. If someone simply takes everything the Constitution says as gospel with no form of
interpretation at all then it would constrict progress. The world today is extremely different compared
to the world that the framers lived in when they wrote the Constitution. Which is why the sweet spot
of textualism has to be found, not too literal and not too lenient either. Scalia also brings forth a
counter to the argument against textualism, the one which he claims to be the most mindless, and that
is that textualism is formalistic. Scalia says that of course it is formalistic because law revolves around
formalism. Formalism is what makes a government a government of laws and not of men, says Scalia.
Textualism is what Scalia based his interpretation of the Constitution and statutes on and this is quite
evident in many of his famous opinions

The Power Of One By Bryce Courtenay
The Power of One by Bryce Courtenay is a novel which illustrates the harsh truths of the systematic
racism faced during South Africa s apartheid. Showing the oppression and abuse of African people
Courtenay contrasts the injustice with the individuality of the main character Peekay. Courtenay uses
Peekay s unprejudiced and independent spirit to show how one person can help to heal the tensions
between the oppressed and the oppressor.
From a young age Peekay is forced to become independent because of the isolation he faces during his
first time at boarding school. This allows Peekay to spend pivotal years of his childhood forming his
own opinions on his worldview and not others. This is shown when Peekay is polite to Mr. Patel

  • 2. My Eating Habits My eating habits! When I bring lunch to school, all of the people in the Cohort (even the professors!) are shocked! It is a rare sight to see me with lunch. Most of the time, it is because I m never very hungry until around 4. And I ll admit it is just not healthy. I rarely ever eat breakfast either! Not only do I not eat three meals, but I m also not eating like I should. I ll be honest, I have been living off Pizza Rolls. Now, I am not saying I am going to go on a crazy diet or starting eating broccoli, but I need to start eating more and eating less Pizza Rolls. Drink more water! I will be completely honest right now, over the course of the entire semester I probably only finished 3 bottles of water total. I ve never been much of a water drinker, but I can t continue this bad habit this semester. I decided that I have to at least drink the recommended amount of water per day. To help me out, I am a using a water bottle that has lines and times! It will help me manage my new habit and stay on top of how much water I am drinking. You can t pour from an empty glass! My sleeping habits! If you don t sleep enough, you can t be your best self! How did this go wrong last semester? Well, last semester I was waking up at 6 am and not going to bed until 12 1am! Why? I was doing this because a huge portion of my day surrounded school and homework and then when it was time for bed, I would try to have some me time and then end up staying up late. I decided that this semester, I will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Composers rely heavily on ritornello form. More freedom in the form although a sinfonia proper is later developed. The melody is made up of long, drawn out phrases. The melodies are shorter motifs. Minuet and trio third movement. Minuet and trio is left out of the dramatic symphonic form. Expansion of Music in the 20th Century There are many elements that led to the expansion of music in the 20th Century. In some ways these elements were all linked to each other and it is difficult to say what events or ideas triggered the huge development of music. For example, World War I and II in the first half of the century lead to the rapid development of technology and communications as well as, eventually, political and social freedom, all aspects which have created changes and growth. The great advances in technology were in part responsible for globalism, although nationalism was also partly a product of the wars. The advent of the Great Wars also produced great emotion. We can t allow life to beat us down. Everything happens for a reason, and it builds character in us, and it tells us what we are about and how strong we really are when we didn t think we could be that strong. In Laura Hillenbrand s biography Unbroken, the determination Louis Zamperini possessed, personifies Gail Devers words when, Undoubtedly, Zamperini s will to survive helped him reunite with his family after World War II, after he fought against the brutal and sadistic beatings he endured in Japanese POW camps. The fear of the POW prison camps still lurks in Louie s mind and every prisoner returning home. To sooth their war torn minds and souls many veterans turned to alcohol for comfort;in fact, Louie was one of those who turned to alcohol to ease his mind. Drinking made Louie violent and full of rage and if life is going to get any better something had to change. Louie s determination like a presidential race pushed him to overcome insurmountable obstacles and refused to admit defeat. One night Louie attended a sermon and something clicked in Louie reminding him of a promise he made to God: If you will save me, I will serve you forever (382). That night when Louie arrived home, He carried the bottles to the kitchen sink, opened them, and poured their contents into the drain (383), this was the beginning of the new and improved Louie. Later Louie created a camp to help young boys who ve gone through the same experiences as him, such as getting into fist fights or creating trouble with the law. When Louie wasn t with boys at camp he gave speeches of his experiences. As years passed Louie was still climbing, running, and taking on new activities like skateboarding: When I get old, he said as he tossed a football on the Kwajalein beach, I ll let you know (392). A tragic hero by definition is a literary character who makes a judgment error that inevitably leads to his/her own destruction. For example Othello is the husband of Desdemona whom he murders because he has been misled by the villainous Iago. • 7. Essay on The Commander To what extent is the Commander presented as both villain and a figure of sympathy? The commander can be seen as a man torn between two worlds, he was one of the founders of Gilead yet still enjoys and yearns for the pleasures of the old society he managed to break. The commander is cool and collected on the surface but underneath he is bitter and corrupted for the world he has managed to create. The commander secretly longs for the world to be as it once was and this is why he savours his time with Offred because she may remind him of life before Gilead. It is also ironic how both characters feel under the surface an anger and repression of Gilead and they both want to break free. However on the surface when they play scrabble with ... This means Offred and the reader are not completely sure of who he is and his wants. Throughout this chapter the theme of having or gaining more power is very evident. The fact that the commander does have so much power and Offred has so little makes him more villainous. This is because we can evidently see how Offred could be so easily manipulated by this very powerful man. However we see a more villainous side to The Commander when he asks Offred to play scrabble with him. He manipulates Offred into having almost a false relationship with him because this is non existent with his wife, Serena Joy. The relationship between the commander and Serena Joy is very numb, cold and formal. They are very alike in character and so they control each other. Their relationship is somewhat business like and lifeless. In one chapter Serena Joy says to Offred He s my Husband till death do us part and this sentence feels almost forced. As the reader we feel she says this because of the last handmaid and because of the jealousy she feels towards Offred. She wants to take it away before she can even have it. This relationship with Serena Joy puts things out of balance and Offred and in a way wants to go back to normality. These drugs work in many different ways, but are intended to treat serious psychological disorders such as depression. They can be prescribed by any medical doctor, however, and are often used even when they are not clearly indicated as necessary or even effective. Americans are increasingly turning to antidepressants as a quick fix to real or perceived psychological problems that can often be treated more efficiently in other ways with less risk to their physical well being. Antidepressants are drugs that are primarily used to treat depression, although many are frequently being utilized in other disorders. The main types of antidepressants are tricyclics, ... Many people with mild to moderate depression can be successfully treated with psychotherapy and other non medical interventions such as bright light; exercise; relaxation techniques; eliminating the use of substances like recreational drugs, alcohol and caffeine; getting regular sleep; eating a balanced diet; and stress reduction. But when these interventions have been tried and failed, or when a patient s depression is severe enough to interfere with their ability to function in their work, relationships, and self care, doctors will recommend antidepressant medications as well. There are several different classes of antidepressants to choose from, including older medications called monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) and tricyclics; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs); norepinephrine and serotonin reuptake inhibitors; and others. Despite the differences in these medications effects on neurotransmitters, chemical properties, side effects, and pharmaceutical company advertising, they all are EQUALLY EFFECTIVE in treating depression. The choice between them, therefore, is made on the basis of other factors. • 10. Wendy Cope Reading Scheme Summary Wendy Cope: Reading Scheme When I was younger I had no idea what this world held for me. I was innocent. As a child, I was innocent of mortality, as a teen hope, and as a young adult love. However, later on that innocence took on the role of ignorance. Not in the sense of not being knowledgeable or educated on the subject but rather knowing it all too well that I choose to not acknowledge it. Innocence can be served as an instrument to tune out your surroundings when things take a toll. It can be an illusion from reality to protect what one desires to be true feel rather than what is actual. In Wendy Cope s poem Reading Scheme, Cope writes about the child s viewpoint of an affair by using the villanelle form to illustrate the inability of children to make connections and ultimately argue that innocence is simply an illusion. In order to understand the illusion of innocence in Wendy Cope s poem we must first familiarize ourselves on the subject of innocence and how, depending on the mindset, it is defined. Also, we must alert ourselves of Cope s writing style and the purpose of her writing. According to the article Archaeology: the loss of innocence, the loss of disciplinary innocence is the price of expanding consciousness...the loss is irreversible and the prize substantial (Clarke 6). Are we rewarded when our innocence abandons us or has suffering begun because now things are seen in a different aspect. The author of the article, David Clarke, claims innocence is a continuous losing process (Clarke 6). We continue to loss some sort of innocence into our teens, adulthood, and even our later years. It is when we choose to open ourselves to new experiences that our innocence beforehand disappears. Cope is well known for her manner of addressing serious or grave topics in a humorous way. Her writing style has double meaning to it. The serious tone of it hides between the lines of humor. The poem is about a mother having an affair with the milkman. Toward the end of the poem the husband returns home and discovers what his wife has done then goes after the milkman. All the while the children, Peter and Jane, are watching the event but also getting distracted by other things that are happen like Look at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Fairness, Open Mindedness And Neutrality Professionals in the United States Army stand apart from others involved in particular careers in the civilian world. Whereas many vocations contain some of the characteristics of a professional, a lot of careers do not include all of the necessary to differentiate themselves as being as close to a professional as a United States soldier. Professionalism grows depending on the time and service that the individual has in the Army. A professional is said to have specialized knowledge and skill which can only be acquired through persistent education and experience. Such skill and experience form the basis of objective standards of proficient competence that separate the practicing professional from their peers and measure the proficiency of such professionalism. This professional knowledge must also be intellectual in nature. Soldiers are required to accept responsibility for their actions and resulting consequences. This includes avoiding even the appearance of offensiveness. Accountability promotes careful, well thought out decision making and limits thoughtless action. Fairness, open mindedness and neutrality are important aspects of fairness. Soldiers must be committed to justice in the performance of their official duties. Decisions must not be illogical, impulsive, or biased. Individuals must be treated equally and with tolerance. Such professional is the paratrooper. Thus a large no of people keep travelling for business purposes to various countries. These corporate people do not like spending their precious time waiting in the queue to check in to the airport. As a result, the implementation of such self service kiosks are always of a very high value for the airline industry as it helps them getting more customers. Yes, they do give an airline company a lot of competitive advantage. When an airline company implements such an information system, by which a customer can do all the things sitting at home and has to just walk in to the airport half an hour before his flight would surely give that company a competitive advantage over the others who are not implementing. Because the customers of those airline companies have to spend a lot of time after coming to the airport when the other company lets them do everything at their convenience. The solution was centrifuged at 9,000xg for 15 minutes, which created Pellet 1 (P1) and supernatant 1 (S1). Then it was centrifuged a second time which created P2 and S2. The results were shown in figure 1 and 2. Further analyzes showed that rubisco was likely present in S1 and in P2. Figure 1. P1 and S1 results Figure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Protein Electrophoresis The purpose of protein electrophoresis was to verify the presence of rubisco in the solutions and see how many subunits are in the samples. The size was also determined by this method. The buffer chambers were filled with SDS PAGE (Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis), which helped add negative charges to the proteins and ran at 120 v for 30 50 minutes and then 100v for an hour. The samples were loaded in the order of ladder, S1, P1, P1 med salt, P1 high salt, S2, P2, P2 med salt, and P2 high salt. By exploiting footage capturing such evocative imagery, Andrew Morgan illustrates in their documentary film, The True Cost , that these stark contrasts are simply two sides of the same coin for an industry that willingly cuts corners at its workers expense in order to snatch up every last coin. • 16. What Makes A Word Essay Posted 30/05/2015 by Iain Campbell What Makes a Word, a Word? If a new word or neologism is not created by a lexicographer (the person who compiles a dictionary), or any individual, then who decides what words will be a part of the English language? The speakers of the language are who choose what words are used and which are not. It s the day to day users of the language introducing and maintaining words, this is what evolves and shapes the way the English language is spoken and understood by the people who use it. There are a number ways in which a new word can be introduced into any given language, in this post I will focus on the English language and the techniques commonly used to make new words in the language. Not only does a word need to be created to be part of a language but it needs to be used as part of the language regularly to be well recognised and accepted by the speakers, and there for an official word in the language. Shared Words The first way a word can be made is through a different language sharing or donating a word with another language or country. An English example of this technique would be the word ninja which English speakers took from the Japanese and now is sometimes recognised as an English word. Once the word is taken from a language the pronunciation and origins of the word become lost with time and people can forget or are not able to tell that the word has foreign origins. Similarly Caramel is stolen from another language and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The face serves as a key point for objective assessment to any changes of symmetry movement or involuntary movements. Finally, the ears are the sensory organ for hearing and maintaining equilibrium (Jarvis, 2012). First, inspect the head and heck when obtaining the objective data. Even less than twenty five years ago it was a totally different nation than it is today. The German Confederation was comprised of 41 German states; this was not a government, however, more an agreement not to fight each other, and a promise to defend each other in the case of war. The states were still ruled by monarchies and there was no sort of currency or government body. In 1848 there was an attempt to unify the German states into a single nation. It was brought about by a revolution, which caused elections to be held, and a constitution to be drafted. This movement basically crashed and burned, however. There was debate because Austria Hungary was part of the confederation but the National Assembly which was convened felt Austria Hungary was too large and only really wanted the German speaking half in the nation. They didn t have the power to break up the state so leadership of the state would have fallen on the Prussian Emperor. He did not like the idea of having to act on behalf of the will of the people and rejected being emperor. This was basically the final nail in the coffin for that and the rebellion was then squashed. Therefore, these parts will reach high blood alcohol levels relatively quickly. Alcohol distributes through body water mainly. This means that men, who have on average more body water then women, generally achieve lower alcohol concentration. Men have more body water for two reasons: they are heavier and they have less body fat per kilogram of body weight. Consequently, the same quantity of alcohol per person usually results in a higher blood alcohol concentration in women as compared to men. Alcohol is primarily broken down or metabolized in the liver through two steps mainly: firstly, it is broken down or oxidized to acetaldehyde by an enzyme called alcohol dehydrogenises. Acetaldehyde is very toxic and held responsible for most of the harmful effects of excessive alcohol consumption. Secondly, acetaldehyde is efficiently converted into acetate by an enzyme called acetaldehyde dehydrogenises. Acetate is a harmless compound, which is used for energy generation. The total amount of ethanol broken down per hour is estimated in the range of 0,1 0,3 gram per kilogram body weight per hour. It s important to Artie to portray his father accurately, but he s understandably concerned about playing into stereotypes. Just like the animal and nationality stereotypes, the stereotypes that Vladek fits into work in two ways. Vladek is the miserly old Jew but the text shows over and over again that this same pragmatic tendency helped him survive a lot of times in the war, and so in some ways validates the practice. It s important to note though, that the tendency to save negatively affected Mala and Artie; they both carried a lot of resentment towards Vladek in the ways that he denied them a lot of basic necessities, and in a lot of ways prioritized material items and money over members of his family. So while the text shows an explanation of sorts for Vladek s behavior, it doesn t necessarily make excuses for the problems he caused with his actions later on. We heard Him say, I will destroy this temple made with hands, and within three days build another made without hands. Upon Jesus death and resurrection, he completed this task setting forth the development of Christianity. Since Jesus left no formal authoritative power, organization, or agreed upon scriptures, a wide variety of sects gained popularity in the development of Christianity. Most of these sects were later deemed as heretic, one of the most notable being Gnosticism. Gnosticism was a dualist religion believing the material world evil and the invisible spirit realm good. This belief obligated Gnosticism to follow Docetic interpretations. Docetism is the belief that Jesus was never truly man but rather a divine from the spirit world. Lab Report Titration Abstract: In this experiment, our team analyzed an unknown acid and a sample of vinegar solution by the process of titration using a 0.1 M sodium hydroxide solution as the titrant, as this solution is a strong base. In addition, our team members used phenolphthalein as indicator in the reaction. Introduction: First of all, for this experiment our team made use of several glassware, such as a buret, three 250 mL erlenmeyer flask, and a 10 mL flask. Additional, we also used a buret clamp, a plastic bottle with stopper, sodium hydroxide in form of pellets, potassium hydrogen phthalate (KHP), phenolphthalein as indicator, unknown acid and vinegar. The process of titration involves measuring the exact volume of the known concertation (which in this case is sodium hydroxide) that is required to react with a measured volume of an unknown concertation. Our team used sodium hydroxide, since it is a common solution used in titration analysis of samples containing a solute acid. Nevertheless, sodium hydroxide must be used quickly, since this solution can react with carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and its concentration will change with the time. In order to not add an excess of titrant than the necessary for the reaction, our team made use of phenolphthalein as indicator. This indicator in particular changes to a pale pink color from basic pH. On the other hand, we also titrated a sample of vinegar with the same sodium hydroxide solution, since vinegar is a dilute solution of acetic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
