Romantic Structure Of Women In Pygmalion, By Bernard Shaw
Pygmalion, by Bernard Shaw, uses and modifies common romantic structure to enhance the
depth of its heroine, Eliza Doolittle. Like a common con artist, however, Shaw switches the bait
with a jarring look at modern sexism and the women s dependency on a man, even if she is more
qualified then he. Shaw s withdrawal from the expected conclusion of a romantic marriage
reshapes critics view of Eliza, releasing her from her expected submissive social role as a wife,
and redefining her as a strong woman. Even with her new representation, however, she is still left
in a sexist society, and continues to rely on the bachelors of Wimpole Street for financial support
and advice. She goes as far as she can, under the present circumstances, to free herself from the
patriarchal society that oppresses and ridicules her very existence.
Eliza Doolittle is introduced in Act 1 of Pygmalion as The Flower Girl (Shaw 15), a name of very
low stature within the social hierarchy of early 20th century London, England. Her lowly title
speaks volumes about her state of living in an economy where the difference between the rich
and the poor is visible. She lacks a high source of income, nor does she come from a rich family.
Her father is an alcoholic, and her stepmother an abusive guardian. Her language, as can be
expected from someone of such an upbringing, is necessitous. So, in conventional romantic format,
Shaw places her and Professor Higgins under one bus shelter on a rainy day. Higgins is

Cortical Dementia
There are categories of brain dementia, which are cortical and subcortical. Subcortical dementia is
marked by motor disruption. An example of subcortical dementia would be parkinson s disease.
On the other hand, Alzheimer s is an example of cortical dementia, which as previously
established is marked by memory loss. Although Alzheimer s is classified as cortical dementia, it
eventually destroys cells in all four lobes of the brainthus resulting in motor disruption as well. The
ventricles, the fluid filled spaces in the brain begin to enlarge as the disease develops. The
symptoms of memory loss and impaired cognitive functioning in Alzheimer s disease can be
attributed to damage in the hippocampus and cerebral cortex. The earliest detection

The Little Mermaid Character Analysis
The Little Mermaid is a Disney animated film that came out in the late 1900s. The movie is
about a teenage mermaid princess named Ariel whose curiosity leads her to defy her father, the
mermaid king. Many American girls enjoy the film during childhood and idolize Ariel. While The
Little Mermaid continues to entertain children, many parents are unaware that the movie can
actually do more bad than good for their little girls . . . Ariel teaches little girls to give up
everything that makes them who they are in order to please a man. In Escape from Wonderland:
Disney and the Female Imagination, Deborah Ross argues that the goals in which Disney female
heroes pursue teach little girls to strive for all the wrong things. For instance, in The Little Mermaid
, Ariel risks all of her best attributes to marry a man and walk the earth as a human. Tying the
knot with this man is perceived as her goal in life which can impress American girls with the belief
that the best thing they can achieve is to win a man and satisfy him. Ross stresses this idea when
she writes, what we see her do is flee a world of infinite possibility to settle in a land of the banal [.
. .] yes, she gets her legs, she makes her stand, she marches but only down the aisle, to marry some
guy named Eric (60). With some revision, Ariel does have some potential to be a good role model
for little girls. She could have decided to reveal herself to Eric as she was and see if he would love
her for her, instead of

Suffering is centrepiece in Tim Winton’s modern Australian...
Suffering is centrepiece in Tim Winton s modern Australian classic, Cloudstreet. The novel depicts
characters who struggle to overcome their woes, with various approaches employed by characters
so that they can endure their pain. Winton glorifies the characters able to surpass their struggles
through reconciliation and love, describing them as whole and human beings who acknowledge
that life is the one thing constant in our existence; something to be grateful for. Those unable to
completely conquer their misery do not truly live although they may endure. These characters
either are so focussed on battling against pain, they cannot resolve it at the source, or chose a path
of self ruin and are diminished to shadows , eventually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Winton s characters who possess tenacity are able to survive their periods of devastation. Haunted
with survivor s guilt and stripped of her faith and son, Oriel battles against the distress she has to
undergo and challenges its presence in her life, eventually learning to forgive and move on. When
Oriel thinks about everything that s been taken from her over the years , she describes it as the
longest subtraction sum invented , growing to admit that since Fish she s been losin the war and

defeat to Fish s state after many years of looking for the answers . The Aussie Battler within Oriel
prohibits her from giving in to her woeful circumstances, ensuring that she lives through to happier
times. Will and determination is one of the methods through which Winton s characters can
continue living in defiance of their torment. Grief is most strongly thwarted by the power of
reconciliation. Rather than fighting against and antagonising flawed relationships that induce
suffering, it is more desirable to forgive and harbour no grudges; effectively bringing an end to the
trauma. Fish s spiritual affliction is appeased this way. Prior to Fish s transcendence, he was
traumatised by the abundance of anguish within Cloudstreet due to his superior

Pathophysiology/ Introduction
Have you ever looked across a clear sparkling ocean front? Took time to gaze at beautiful flowers
while walking outdoors? Or watched your family laugh and smile while enjoying a day out
together? These are a few things our eyes allow us do. The eye is a very important part of our
anatomy. It lets us to do one of our most important five senses and that is to see. Just like any
other part of our body things can go wrong. The particular impairment I would like to address is
when our eyes get infected and inflamed. Our eyes can get infections from either bacteria, fungal,
parasitic, or viral infections. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our body has a natural response to fight off infection is inflammation so that s why when we have
an infection we typically have inflammation as well. The organisms that invade our body put off a
toxin that dilate and leak from our capillaries and this attracts our white blood cells and causes and
inflammatory response. Causes and Risk Factors of Different Infections of the Eye
There are several different infections the eye can get these include conjunctivitis, blepharitis,
hordeolum, chalazion, and keratitis. Conjunctivitis is inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye
(Williams, Linda. S UNDERSTANDING MEDICAL SURGICAL 5TH ed, 2015). Viral
conjunctivitis is usually received by touching other contaminated eye secretion then rubbing the
uncontained eye. The virus is able to survive on surfaces for 14 days or more and can last 2
weeks to a month. Bacterial conjunctivitis is also known as pinkeye can be caused by the
staphylococcal bacteria and is highly contagious. Many times the infected person will start with the
common cold and then it will manifest into pinkeye. Children are most commonly known to spread
and receive this infection. Normally the infected person will experience redness of the conjunctiva,
swelling, and drainage. Blepharitis is the inflammation of the eye lids. It is classified as either
seborrheic and ulcerative. Both are caused from the bacterium staphylococcus. Seborrheic is

The Pros And Cons Of Free Trade
Free trade is a capitalist concept that advocates for a seamless and free flow of goods and services
that is virtually unhindered by state imposed restrictions or trade barriers. Over the years, the
American government has signed multiple agreements with governments across the world, to
encourage trade between the continental United States and other countries around the globe.
Indeed, bilateral agreements ranging from AGOA, NAFTA, and TPP have been signed by
successive Washington administrations, ostensibly to encourage Americans to reap financial
benefits from global trade. The open and free tradeidea is anchored on the maxim that no country
possesses all the services and products that it needs, at any given time. Countries across the
Americas fro instance and by extension globally have seen a proliferation in the number of treaties
and preferential trade agreements by economies to boost trade. In this regard, some countries are
well endowed with extensive natural resources such as oil, gas, and gold, while others may lack
them but still need to use these resources.
Nevertheless, the sovereign is permitted under international trade laws to impose certain levels of
trade restrictions for valid reasons such as protecting its infant industries and taming dumping of
substandard goods. In this regard, the world is moving towards protectionism with scores of
countries imposing tariff and non tariff barriers as well as the complete ban of certain class of
goods from overseas or

Why Is Southwest Airlines Unique
Southwest Airlines is a unique airline that has a history dating back over 45 years. To say that
Southwest Airlines is unique, one must only look at how the airline came to life. In 1967 Herb
Kelleher was hired by Rollin King to close down a defunct charter flying company in Texas. After
the work was complete the two men supposedly met for drinks at a bar in San Antonio. At the bar,
King drew a triangle on a cocktail napkin with Dallas, San Antonio and Houston at the three points
and said I have an idea for another airline; one that connects just the main metro areas of Texas.
(Roam, 2008) The early years for Southwest Airlines, then known as Air Southwest, were fraught
with legal struggles to get off the ground. In 1968 Southwest was

Farewell To Manzanar Analysis
These days most people don t realize that we need to accept what s happening in our lives and just
look to the light at the end of the tunnel. Sean McCabe, web designer, lettering guru, and successful
entrepreneur says, Endurance is the price tag to achievement. In Farewell to Manzanar we see a
motif of endurance conveyed through the symbolic characteristics of stones. Jeanne Wakatsuki
Houston was put into relocation camps along with about 110,000 just because they were of
Japanese descent. However throughout the story of her journey in Manzanarwe hear the Japanese
saying, Shikata ga nai. Jeanne and many other people in the book say this, which roughly translates
to, it cannot be helped. These people endured the imprisonment and injustice simply because they
saw that it must be endured. The stone motif in the story screams out the idea that when faced with
a challenge you must endure and let it sculpt you into the person you are.
Throughout the book when the stone motif comes into play it has a strong connection to something
a character experienced. This is first shown when Papa cries when he is playing the
Greek 2
Japanese anthem. It brings back a memory of what the song means to him. It can be a man s life.

Obesity Of Special Needs Children
Obesity in Special Needs Children Childhood obesity in children with special needs is higher than
in children who do not have special needs. Providing exercise programs, promoting healthy eating
habits, and informing residential neighborhoods in helping to promote physical activity for
children with special needs would diminish a large number of children in this population. Obesity
is a complex medical and psychosocial problem that has its origin in both genetic and
environmental factors (Polfuss, Simpson, Greenley, Zhang, Sawin, 2017, p. 1071). While age,
gender, life experiences, family structure, and other factors are related causes, excessive weight
gain is usually due to higher food intake and lower energy output. Children and youth... Show more

Many programs and models help in indicating health conditions among various people. The
International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health model (ICF) is an approach to
identifying variables contributing to a person s overall health. This model consists of health
(condition, personal dimension, ({participation restriction, activity limitation, and body structure
and function impairments}), and contextual factors ({personal and environmental factors})
(Abeysekara et al., 2014, p. 509). Even with programs that promote healthy eating habits among
children and youth with special health care needs, parental feeding behaviors are a concern as
well. The problem seems to be that weight related concerns develop among parent and child.
Parents are oblivious to the fact when purchasing food, preparing food, pressuring the child to eat
when not hungry, they are contributing to the problem at hand (Polfuss et al., 2017, p. 1087).
Many parents focus more on appointments in order to help their child, they forget about healthy
eating habits. After finishing a day full of appointments, parents feel they are putting a burden on
their child when trying to engage them in physical activities. Instead they reward the child with
movies, games, sweets, and rest. Giving parents insight on how to effectively encourage physical
activity and helping to promote healthy dietary habits could be useful. There are several programs
developed in order to help parents and children

Memory
Steve Jobs once said, You and I have memories longer he road that stretches out ahead . The brain
is so detailed and holds so much information in every little area. There are so many things
happening in the brain at once, and one of the most fascinating things would be memory. The
memory has various abilities that make it so complex, including the memory system, how it
functions, and memory retrieval, along with the capacity to memorize certain ideas easier
Memory has different parts in the memory system including sensory, short and long memories.
Each type has a different time span and is broken down for different purposes for memorizing.

It also indicates to the brain s intelligence to keep knowledge. Recollection is a crucial piece of
the training progress (Loftus). Repeating actions can really help to expand what has been just
viewed. The memory is a result of an influence on perception, attention, and learning. Many
experiences in life affect what a person remembers. Memory collects the events that were given
the most impact on the life at hand. Every time a person learns something different, chemical
conversions account new passageways to grow between neurons. The memory traces can be
energized at any time to intimate the cognition called memories. If memories weren t in the
brain, learning something would be new every time. There are two distinct types of memories
including motor skill memory and factual memory. The ability to memorize motor skills, such
as walking or riding a bike makes it possible to achieve many everyday actions without abundant
conception of conscious thought. Motor skills are very important because they show what
comes naturally to a person and what can be improved to help get to a goal or new step in life.
Between five to six hours of learning a new motor skill, the capability of completing the task
becomes gathered forever in a person s brain. If it is disturbed by another learning action the first
one may be erased or can easily be slipped away from memory ( Memory n. pag.). Motor skills are
crucial for survival and show how they can be so important for future

Violent Video Games And Violence Essay
Recent outbursts of violent crimes committed by youths has raised concerns as to what caused the
corruption of these minors. Of all adolescents aged 12 17, 97% play video games in some form,
and of these video games, 85% contain violence to some degree. With news covering a slue of
monstrous acts committed by children, many people began to direct the blame on violent video
games. These accusations claimed that the disturbing acts witnessed while playing video games
was corrupting youths can causing them to execute heinous crimes. However, newer, well
developed ideas have began to shift the blame from violent to video games to other extenuating
circumstances. Common misconceptions, analysis of youth crimestatistics, and new scientific
studies showcase how violent video games do not cause youths to display violent and aggressive
behavior.
First, misconceptions and flawed studies have guided the public into believing that video games
are the root of vicious adolescent crime. Past studies have indicated that in fact a link does exist
between violent video games and violent crime; however, these studies have apparent issues.
Many of these studies, failed to prove a legitimate cause and effect between the two variables. The
largest problem is that these studies base their findings off means of testing aggression in children
that do not correspond with violent in reality. For example, one study evaluated aggression by
timing the duration in which someone would inflict a loud noise at another person. In reality, it is
extremely difficult to assess a person s aggression in a simulated experiment that will produce
legitimate results because it is not a realistic scenario in the real world. Furthermore, the
consequences of afflicting someone with a loud sound are not equivalent to the consequences of
committing a mass shooting. Another major misconception is that school shootings are a direct
effect of playing violent video games. The issue with that philosophy is that it fails to account for
other variables that can lead to violent outbursts such as personality traits, genetics, and home
environment. Overall, these misconceptions blame video games as the sole problem, distorting the
view of video games

Holistic Medicine Essays
Holistic Medicine
Holistic Medicine, commonly referred to as Alternative Medicine , is a vast and rapidly growing
new scientific field. It is derived mainly from ancient, traditional methods of healing that have often
been practiced in the East for centuries. These include a variety of techniques from herbal healing to
acupuncture to homeopathy to energy channeling. Due to the large number of methods that are
covered by the term, there are various definitions of Holistic Medicine. However, all literature seems
to agree that Alternative Medicine, is exactly what the name suggests: an alternative approach to
healing and medicine. It is a more personal move toward health care, which attempts to connect the

An increasing number of medical schools are now offering courses in alternative medicine for their
students, and some hospitals already have alternative medicine departments. The availability of
healers and doctors practicing holistic medicine has also increased in recent years, and more and
more people are educating themselves in these new fields. In fact, the World Health Organization
estimates that between 65 and 80 percent of the world s population (about 3 billion people) rely on
traditional medicine as their primary form of health care. Because many of the treatments of
alternative medicine do not adhere to the principles of conventional medicine, whether or not to
allow practice of these techniques in the United States is a major concern of the medical
community today. The Food and Drug Administration is the decision making body of issues such
as this and more often than not, does not approve many of these practices. Due to the fact that
holistic medicine sometimes contradicts the fundamentals of biomedicine, health care regulation
boards such as the FDA find it difficult to accept many of these treatments. Because the Western
world is so unfamiliar with these techniques it is only natural for medical community to often
disprove these methods. However, as more and more doctors discover the limitations of

2014) In addition to the sales of oil on the black market to fund their organization, ISIS has the
ability to rent house, tax the population, and charging for utilities like water and electricity. It is
estimated the ISIS brings in about $900 million a year from residents and businessmen in
territories under its control. (Engel, 2015). With the immense funding that ISIS has from illegal
activities, oil sales and taxations of people living in areas under their control, specific measures
must be taken to slow and eliminate their funding. Due to the income coming from black market oil
sales, it is imperative to target the middle men moving the oil, as well as target those who refine,
transport and assist the black market oil sales that contribute to the ISIS revenue. There also needs
to be collaboration with local governments to assist them in regaining control over areas where
ISIS, or other terrorist organization, have strong holds. These strong hold where the local
government has no control are the areas that ISIS and other terrorist organizations are able to
exploit the natural resources and populations for their gain. Additionally the American government
needs to target ISIS financial hubs and distribution routes

Native American Healing And Native Americans
The United States is home to five hundred and seventy eight federally recognized indigenous tribes
and twenty one of those tribes reside in Arizona. In fact, Arizona State Tempe campus is located on
the ancestral homelands of the Akimel O odham (Pima) and Pee Posh (Maricopa) people. Native
American healing is a unique system that varies from tribe to tribe but most share similar
characteristics of treatment. Native American healing goes back thousands of years before the
European settlers migrated to North America. The indigenous people at the time were familiar with
plants, herbs, smoke, prayers, and chants to treat illnesses. It is believed that the indigenous
population may have known more about the plants and herbs than today which kept illness and
disease away. Native Americans believe in being in harmony with oneself, mother earth, and father
sky. Native American healing takes a holistic approach which focuses on the body, mind, emotion
and spirit during treatment. According to National Institutes of Health/National Center for
Complementary and Alternative Medicine(NCCAM), Native American (NA) traditional healing is
identified as a whole medical system that encompasses a range of holistic treatments used by
indigenous healers for a multitude of acute and chronic conditions or to promote health and
wellbeing. 2 When the Europeans migrated to North America they brought new diseases such as
smallpox which devastated the indigenous population. Millions of the indigenous

What Is The Relationship Between Mary Shelley And...
Mary Shelley and her novel, Frankenstein
Mary Shelley, wife of Percy Shelley, became a highly respected household name after she wrote and
published her famous novel, Frankenstein, during The Romantic Period. Mary Shelley indirectly
reflects her backstory and The Romantic Period through Frankenstein, and even impacts The
Romantic Period through her novel. Evidence of both the reflection of The Romantic Period and
Ms. Shelley s impact on it are found in her background, the time period itself (as well as modern
times) and in Frankenstein. Mary Shelley was born on August 30, 1797, and died on February 1,
1851 (Biography.com Editors). She grew up in London, England, but spent two years in Scotland
with her father s acquaintance and his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of these events was hating her home life because she felt her step mother resented her and
her father s relationship; which in her eyes, led to her being excluded from getting a formal
education when her stepsister was getting one (Biography.com Editors). This resulted in Mary
staying in Scotland for two whole years with her father s acquaintance and his family, and then
later fleeing England with Percy (Biography.com Editors) (Cliffsnotes Editors). The other very
important event that affected Mary s life, but especially Frankenstein, was the loss of a child
before writing her famous novel (Biography.com Editors) (Cliffsnotes Editors). It s very clear
that in Ms. Shelley s book, Dr. Frankenstein is trying to resurrect someone from the dead; having
knowledge on Mary s background actually leads many people to believe that this idea of
resurrection is coming from her wanting to bring back the only child she had ever birthed
(Biography.com Editors)(Cliffsnotes Editors). Mary fits in very naturally with the ideals of The
Romantic Period; Frankenstein, her most famous novel, clearly reflects this. In Frankenstein, the
creature is rejected from society because of his grotesque appearance, lack of manners, and lack of
intelligence. The creature being rejected by society shows that as a romantic, Mary Shelley viewed
the society in which she lived as close minded and judgmental (Cliffsnotes Editors). Mary Shelley

A Strong Personality That Goes Against The Patriarchal...

Merida has a strong personality that goes against the patriarchal idea of a weak woman. Merida
does not share in any womanly domestic activities championed by patriarchy and often performed
by past Disney princesses. In Disney movies, Princesses like Snow White and Cinderella are often
shown cleaning and cooking, but Merida enjoys physical activities such as horseback riding, rock
climbing, and archery. Sonja K. Foss, along with Cindy L. Griffin, built on Campbell s ideas about

However, some will not support Merida is her feminist agenda due to messing up the flow of
entertainment via media. Laura Mulvy in her article Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema ,
backs these claims by stating, In their traditional exhibitionist role women are simultaneously
looked at and displayed, with their appearance coded for strong visual and erotic impact so that
they can be said to connote to be looked at ness. Woman displayed as sexual object is the leit
motif of erotic spectacle: from pin ups to striptease, from Ziegfeld to Busby Berkeley, therefore
women are presence to indispensable elements of spectacle in normal narrative film . Some
misogynist movie goers and TV watchers like to see women objectified and hyper sexualized
because it keeps there attention and usually the attention is what funds the films. If cartoons and
films starting breaking down hyper sexuality of women, such as Merida is attempting in this
film, it could cause drastic change in audience and possible decline in sales. Turning back to my
original point, Merida is feminist because she has the patriarchal idea of a weak. Merida is
confident about her self and does not hesitate to take control when she ought to, such as coming up
with a plan to sneak Elinor in bear form out of the castle or procuring food when she and her
mother are in the woods. She insists on thinking for

1800 s Locomotive Headlamp
The artifact shown in class is an 1800 s locomotive headlamp. The headlamp on the locomotive
had several purposes. One of the most important purposes was to make it easier for the driver to
see in front of the train and make sure they were not approaching any obstacles. The headlight
was also used to alert anyone ahead that the train was coming. There were several attempts and
prototypes of the locomotive headlamps. One that was used for some time after the civil war was
a large box that was almost two feet by two feet, with glass in the front. It was sometimes decorated
to make it more visually appealing, but it did not last. The one that became the most popular was
much smaller and round. To identify the headlamp engine numbers were stamped out of the metal

In the late 1800s many locomotive companies began using electric headlamps instead of oil
lamps. There were multiple problems that came with using the electric lights instead of oil. It
was very difficult to supply electric power when the train was in a station (Presentation
Magazine). The light was extremely bright and made it hard for the drivers of others trains to
see when they were arriving at the station. In the early 1900 s the arc lamp was invented and
made it much easier for other train drivers to see and it allowed people to safely cross. The
headlamp shown in class was made using black metal, possibly iron, with a glass plate in the
front which allows the light to pass through it. The glass is on a hinge so it could be opened and
closed. The artifact relates to what we are learning because the locomotive industry became one of
the largest and most important industries in America for a long time during and after the civil war.
The trains were used to transport supplies to the troops all throughout the war, and after the war
they were used as transportation for people. There were many investors in the trains that made huge

In his hairstyle, the sides are not shaved completely but retain some short hair. To achieve that, a
blade is not used but instead clippers for shaving the sides. The strip at the centre of the head is
then left to a maximum of 2 inches. The length of the hair at the centre is established using a
straight razor. The appearance thus remains textured since the hair strands are not uniform. As
the hair moves towards the back of the head, it fades to a shorter length. A strong hair gel is then
used to hold this sort of short hair. Since it omits the unnecessary shaving of hair at the sides of
the head, it is seen as a milder form of this hairstyle. The sides of the head are trimmed just a
little bit so that there can be a distinct difference in hair length with the middle part. This makes a
lot of people to find it more appealing. It is also an attractive form of this hairstyle without having

Differences Between The Federal And Federal Court System
Two Separate Justice Systems The U.S. Constitution created a strong government structure for the
United States known as federalism. Both the federal and state governments must have their own
court systems to apply and interpret their own specific laws. Both federal and state constitutions
attempt to do this by specifically spelling out the jurisdiction of their own court systems. For
example, U.S Constitution gives Congress the power to make uniform laws concerning
bankruptcies, a state court would lack jurisdiction in this matter. Since the Constitution does not
give the federal government authority in most matters concerning the regulation of the family, a
federal court would lack jurisdiction in a divorce case. This is the main reason why there are two
separate court systems in America. The federal court system deals with issues of law relating to
those powers implicitly granted to them by the U.S. Constitution. The state court systems deal with
issues of laws relating to those matters that the U.S. Constitution did not give to the federal
government or deny to the states. Differences in the Structure of the Federal and State Court
Systems. The Federal Court System: The U.S. District Courts, the U.S. Circuit Courts of Appeal,
and the U.S. Supreme Court are governed by Article III of the US Constitution. They also include
two special courts: (a) the U.S. Court of Claims and (b) the U.S. Court of International Trade. Often

Importance Of School Counseling
According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Today s school counselors are
vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement,
personal/social development and career development, ensuring today s students become the
productive, well adjusted adults of tomorrow (2017). The definition of a school counselorhas
changed throughout the years. There has been a shift from guidance/vocational counseling to a
more well rounded approach. Moving from guidance to counseling, means different job duties and
educational obstacles. Not only do the job responsibilities include career development, social
/emotional development, and academic achievement; included in this change is focus on student s
mental health. With the advancement of this career to the mental health field, comes with
educating stakeholders on the difference. One way to do this is by producing evidence that
counseling techniques work in a language that most stakeholders understand: academics. The
money a public school receives correlates largely with achievement. If the students do well
academically, the school becomes more attractive. Salaries are better; therefore, more qualified
teachers apply and communities become more enticing to tax paying citizens. Just the opposite,
schools that perform poorly academically have higher poverty level, lower teacher experience, and
less money paid per student by the state in which it resides. All of this

Made To Stick By Chip Heath Book Report
Made to stick is a book written by Chip Heath and Dan Heath about why some ideas survive and
others die. The book identifies six main elements that every great idea contains. Those six key
traits are put into a small acronym SUCCES . Its letters represent the key elements of simple,
unexpected, concrete, credible, emotion, and story. Those key elements can make an idea last the
test of time. This sounds simple enough to attain a stick idea status, however our prior knowledge
can hinder how well we use these tools. The authors state that you can t un know knowledge. One
of the experiments the book presented was having people pair up and one person was given a list

Some example of concreteness are illustrated by the longevity of proverbs. Some proverbs have
been around for over 2,500 years. They are told and re told generation after generation in every
language. Why do they stick around? They are simple, compact, vivid and memorable. The
concrete element is something that touches the senses like taste, touch, hearing, sight and smell.
This help people to use preexisting knowledge to scaffold new information. The next step in the
SUCCES plan is credible. Credibility means that the audience believes what you are telling
them. This credibility can be gained by using anti authority expertise, concrete details, statistics,
the Sinatra Test, of testable credentials to get the idea across. One example of this is using
smokers who are suffering from diseases caused by smoking, to warn others of the dangers of
smoking. This is an example of anti authority delivery. It is believable because a person can see
how that person is suffering from smoking. The audience gets a vivid visual aspect of the issue
even if they didn t listen a word the speaker

write the Crucible. Arthur Miller based the character of Willy Loman off of his uncle, who was a
traveling salesman and felt competitive with his own sons towards Arthur and his own brother.
After bumping into Arthur in Boston, Manny shortly committed suicide. In his life, Arthur had
known three people who had committed suicide and two of those were traveling salesman. Arthur
was so passionate about this play that he had finished Act 1 in only one day, and Act 2 was
finished six weeks later ( Death of a Salesman: Study Guide. ). This play, considered by many to
be one of the greatest plays of the 20th century, has featured on Broadway for ... Show more content

Miller s father owned a women s clothing company and during the Depression, he lost his business,
and their family moved to Brooklyn. After high school Miller worked at a bunch of different
jobs in order to save money for college. He attended the University of Michigan and spent a
significant amount of those four years learning to write and creating plays and his first was
called No Villain. In 1940, he married Mary Grace Slattery and they had two children, Jane and
Robert. After he received his degree, he joined the Federal Theater Project in New York City
(Galvin). His first Broadway play, The Man Who Had All the Luck, opened in 1944 and was a
failure, but his next play, All My Sons, was extremely successful. Only two years after the
success of All My Sons, Miller came out with his most famous and well respected work, Death
of a Salesman. This play won him both a Pulitzer Prize and a Drama Critics Circle Award, and
ran for more than 700 performances. Within a short while, it had been translated into over a
dozen languages and had made Miller a millionaire. Miller began work on his next major play,
the Crucible. The Crucible was set in Salem during the witch hunts of the late 17th century, but
was also based off of McCarthyism in the 1950s. After Miller divorced Slattery, he married
Marilyn Monroe in 1956. In 1956 and 1957, Miller was subpoenaed by the House Un American
Activities Committee and was convicted of contempt of Congress for his refusal to identify writers
believed to hold Communist sympathies. The following year, the United States Court of Appeals
overturned the conviction. A difficult time in his life, Miller ended his marriagewith actress
Marilyn Monroe in 1960. Miller finally married photographer Inge Morath in 1962, with whom he
lives in Connecticut. He and Inge had first a daughter, Rebecca. Then they had a son, Daniel, who

Similarities Between Clowning Around And All The Different...
We have our own problems today, but nothing compared to the alternate realities that the authors
here have created. Although these are great stories, only one of the finalists can be better. The
stories Clowning Around and All the Different Kinds of Rats are the same in the sense that they
have similar messages. These two pieces of literature have their respective similarities and
differences, but the big topic here is a problem. Firstly, the similarities between the two pieces.
The message of unity or lack thereof is portrayed in both pieces. Passages like The people then
started to divide themselves or What set them apart was mostly age, which they were able to
overcome show how important unity can be, or how weak a lack of cooperation is.... Show more

The story Clowning Around is told in a broad, third person viewpoint. The story takes place in a
prolonged amount of time in 745 words, but there are quick transitions and quick elevation of
tension, but there is a sense of graduality that works out in the authors favor. The story jumps
from the sun rising to the as the people wake up multiple times. All the Different Kinds of Rats,
however, has a specific third person perspective and a small time frame. Only one day in 737
words, but the detail from the newspapers and gum to a diminutive mattress this story isn t entirely
pure story or action, but provides more background and context. Lastly, the actual situations of the
two stories are completely different, but I think that the way that Clowning Around represents
reality is quite brilliant, and the social commentary of what can happen is so genius that you need
to read between the lines to notice it. All the Different Kinds of Rats, on the other hand, is a story
about two poor brothers struggling through everyday life, and while this does convey a deeper
message, it doesn t feel like the author made any comment on a relevant

The Causes And Effects Of Stress In College Students
Over the last few years, stress levels have climbed 30 percent amongst all college aged students
(Feldt, 2008). Stress is defined as A state of psychological and psychological arousal that results
when outside demands surpass a person s abilities (Zajacova, Lynch, Espenshade, 2005). The
increased pattern of stressis due to more college students determining their success based upon
materialistic measures and thinking futuristically (Zajacova et al., 2005). Unfortunately, a rise in
stress can have many adverse health outcomes for most people. Stress suppresses the immune
system, making it more difficult for your body to fight off viruses that lead to a variety of
illnesses (Straub, 2014). That being said, My Real Age Test showed my inability to manage my
stress was a large concern and will be the focus of my intervention (Sharecare, 2015).
Identifying with having a Type A personality has lead me to be driven but constantly stressed to
achieve high standards in school, and other areas of my life. Unfortunately, not without cost, my
stress has taken a major toll on my immune system. Over the last three years of college, I have
visited the health center 22 times. My stress has affected my immune system s ability to fight off a
variety of viruses from the common cold to pneumonia. Nonetheless, I want to make a positive
change by implementing mindfulness mediation into my daily routine.
Mindfulness meditation involves focusing on awareness of breathing and encouraging

The Lanval By Marie De France
The Breton lai Lanval , written by Marie de France in the twelfth century, is a short romantic
poem focused on a foreign knight, Lanval, and his life after meeting a faerie lover. The poem is
set in the time of King Arthur, at a place named Carduel a city in the along the borders of Arthur s
kingdom, Logres. In Lanval failure is a negative situation brought upon oneself by their inability to
maintain their virtue, thus successin the Middle Ageswas heavily influenced by loyalty and integrity.
Within Lanval , failure always ensues after a character breaks a promise or lies to another person,
whether doing so is intentional or not. When this situation occurs, the characters are not directly
considered failures by others, but instead failure arises from the circumstances of their situation.
This can be seen when Lanval simultaneously breaks his promise and insults the Queen:
I alone love
A lady who d win the prize
Over all women I ve known of
And I ll tell you this, without disguise
Just because you need to know
Her serving maids, a poor or low
One, even, the poorest in her train,
Is better than you are, Lady Queen:
In beauty of body and of face,
In goodness and in well bred grace. (Marie 294 303)
Not only does this outburst cause Lanval to lose his lover, but now, he must also prove to King
Arthur that he did not insult his honor by demeaning the Queen during his fit of rage. If Lanval had
not acted this way, he still could have been a successful knight, yet the

Questions On Solving The Statistical Problem
The first strategy when solving the statistical problem above is to create a plan to find how many
solutions there are for this problem. When starting this plan, the first step is to glean all the
relevant clues given in the problem. The important clues described in the statistical problem begin
with their only nine people. One person of the nine people has nine pieces of candy. A second
person has no candy. Finally, a third person has four pieces of candy because four is the meanand
the media of the problem. Gathering information from the data is what Art Costa s calls his first
level of Questioning, which is gathering information (Daws Schiro, 2008). Students must have a
good understanding of mean, median, and modebefore solving this type of statistical problem.
Median and mode are often easily found Van De Walle, Karp, and Bay Williams have defined mean
in two different conceptual understandings.
According to Van De Walle, Karp Bay Williams there are two distinct interpretations for the
understanding of mean (2013). The definition of mean is to find the middle number in the set of
data. A real explanation is to spread the data evenly across all the data points where each data point
is the same as the sum, which is thirty six, refer to illustration 2. Understanding the term mean is
crucial when working with statistical problems. The first explanation of the term mean can be
better understood in the classroom when students are working on an activity

Their leader Kim Jong Il is viewed as almost being a deity whose methods cannot be questioned and
is always correct. The ruthless dictatorship is the main personification that is associated when
thinking of North Korea.
Introduction This report is a cultural analysis of the country of North Korea. The paper itself
analyzes the history, geography, education, language, economy, and politics of the Democratic
People s Republic of Korea known simply as: North Korea. Group 4 chose this particular country
out of curiosity and the want to find out what the nation was like. Not many facts are known about
North Korea and its shady past. This project explores everything from the difficult relationships
between the Korean people and their government, to the famines and floods that threatened the
entire survival of the country. The research has shed light on the corruption of the North Korean
government and the reign of ruthless leaders such as Kim Il Sung and his son Kim Jong Il. The
politics of North Korea have been questionable at best in the nation s history. Finally they are
making progress to renew laws that better fit into North Korean society, but the process is slow.
Change does not come to North Korea quickly. This paper will delve into the little known aspects of
North Korea. Hopefully, a better understanding of the country s characteristics can benefit both the

Life Of My Life
LIFE
It all started on December 6th, 2002. Nicholas Andrew Hulbert was born at 12:53AM at the St
Providence Hospital. I was born into a world full of unknowns. Let s name him Nicholas, since
today is Saint Nicholas day! . My father yelped as my mother was holding me in the blue baby
cloud blanket that I was wrapped in. Although I do not remember anything about my life before the
age of 6, memories show that I had done a lot in that short span of my lifetime. When I was 3 my
father Eric traveled a lot, he ran his business and had to go on a lot of business trips. My dad was a
scrawny guy, but he definitely had a dad belly from all the beer and wine he drank. My mother was
not the same as she is now. She definitely was a lot more healthy and fit. She went out with
friends often and actually had a steady job. She had long brown luscious hair Occasionally, my
mother would take off work and then we d get to go with my father on his business trips. It wasn t
very often but those were the good days, when my parents were together happily without family
drama or issues and maybe the fact that they were actually together. I wonder what it would be
like now if they were still together. But aside from that, when I was 4 according to my parents I
was silent, and I barely did anything. I was just your average baby with soft skin and a big
ass. Then around the age of 5 I started talking again and was back to normal. Not much happened in
the time that I was 5, just a regular life no fun

The On The Go Software Project
I would like to work on the On The Go Software project because today, everyone is on their
phones doing something like playing games, reading books or magazines, and many more. In this
case, it gives a start up company a chance to see what mobile games and apps people use all the
time. This project is essential for a company that wants to make a gameor app because it shows
what game or app people are playing and how much they are playing it. It also shows how much
each game or app makes and what keeps them addicted to it. A Fortune.com article listed the top
five apps and games downloads and revenue. The top games by downloads are Candy Crush Saga,

Facebook users in the U.S. There is also multiple graphs about what kind of revenue these
mobile apps make that is astounding to me. One graph shows the percentage of revenue from
the actual payment of the app. In 2011 85.6% of the total revenue was from the payment of the
app itself, 82.8% in 2012, 75.9% in 2013, 69.5% in 2014, 59.5% in 2015, 47.5% projected in
2016, and 37.8% projected in 2017. This shows that as the years go on, these apps will be
making more and more money from the advertisements and in game purchases. Another graph
shows the worldwide mobile app revenue. In 2011, the worldwide revenue was 8.32 billion,
18.56 billion in 2012, 26.68 billion in 2013, 34.99 billion in 2014, 45.37 billion in 2015, 58.21
billion in 2016, and 76.52 billion in 2017. All of these numbers indicate that the mobile app
industry id getting bigger and bigger each year. Mobile games are addicting. On
gamesradar.com, it explains why they are so addicting. They say one of the easiest reasons
mobile games are so popular is because they re easily accessible. Everyone has a smartphone
nowadays, so anyone from your grandma to your little cousin can download a game on his or her

Verbal Analysis On Non Verbal Communication
Whilst verbal communication is valuable in successful interactions with others, understanding and
interpreting non verbal elements of communication, such as body language, is equally as
important. As a paramedic, deciphering the non verbal context of the message being expressed
can allow the clinician to identify the emotional state of the person seeking assistance. It has been
suggested that an astonishing 93% of a perceived message is derived from non verbal cues leaving
a mere 7% of message analysis stemming from the actual choice in vocabulary (Borg, 2009). Non
verbal communicationtranspires continually, many cues are preformed obliviously as unconscious
manifestations of an individual s state of mind; a person can unintentionally appear stressed,
anxious, happy or sad as a result of their thoughts and feelings, consequently it is difficult to have
total conscious control over these non verbal cues being presented (Hartley, 1999). The only way
to gain awareness of these unconscious non verbal behaviours is when someone else brings them
to our attention; this is taking into consideration as a Paramedic who appears concerned may
inadvertently cause unnecessary worry to a patient (Taylor, 2010). Other instinctive forms of non
verbal communication can transpire accidentally which may be illustrate the individual as
unprofessional and through poor communication, for example, defensive body language, such as
arm crossing your arms when it s cold may be perceived by a

series between the winner from the National League and the winner from the American League. The
series was a financial success for the owners (4)and players and it was a popular success with the

New York Giants from the National League won 1905. In 1904 , the National League choose not
to play the world series because they did not want do anything to help the American League. This
decision brought much criticism to the National League by fans , sportswriters , and players , so
the National League decided to play the next year but in a seven game series instead. The National

Star Trek Morality
Drawing on its seemingly never ending popularity, the Star Trek franchise got rebooted with a
brand new cast and two big budget movies under the directions of J.J. Abrams in 2009. But while
the original movies and television series were famous for their progressive ideas and diverse cast,
the reboot does seem more conventional. Borrowing generously from the traditions of classical
narrative cinema, it seems to attempt to not intimidate potential new audiences with the vastness
and complexities of the original Star TrekUniverse by simplifying it and in doing so loses much of
its progressiveness. In the example of the second instalment of the Star Trek reboot, Star Trek: Into
Darkness, the plot supposedly revolves around the threat of superhuman... Show more content on

Chuck Tryon quotes William Proctor who says that [unlike remakes, sequels, and prequels,
reboots work to nullify history and disconnect stagnant or failed product from a new, cinematic

humans no longer engage in racism, sexism, capitalism, and many other isms (Bernardi 5) The
mention of capitalism in there seems almost ironic as some say that the Hollywood blockbuster
movie, as this product became known, is symptomatic of Hollywood s drive for profit [...] (Punt

draw in new audiences and counting on the loyalty of fans of the original Star Trek Universe, they
made action movies that are certainly enjoyable but do not necessarily seem to still embody the
values of that utopian future mentioned above. Racial and gender diversity all fade into the
background of the story of the story of the friendship between the two white, male protagonists.
Though Abrams kept most of the most iconic characters of the original series most likely aware of
the outrage he must have caused otherwise , their parts in the film are surprisingly small and often,
they do not contribute much that furthers

The Moon Watching Blind Man Summary

The Moon viewing Blind Man, Easter and Western Thought
Are humans animalistic savages or have we evolved long enough to have shed our animalistic
nature? Has society created separation between individuals so great that we have resorted to our
animalistic nature of fending for ourselves or has it always been there? Questions that make us
rethink our stance on who we really are. In philosophy, the animalist doctrine states that humans are
animals in their essential identity and are persons only through their contingent properties. This
idea affects man and makes us question our own existence and progress in our daily lives. This
duality of man, animal and human aspect such as compassion and thought. can be further extended
to Nietzsche idea of the Apollonian and Dionysian sides of man and the influence this idea had on
the development of modern philosophy pertaining to existentialism. This dichotomy of the multiple
sides of man would appear in the philosophical movement of Edo Neo Confucianism, one of the
main philosophy of the later Azuchi Momoyama period through the Edo period, as well as showing
a connection in both eastern and western philosophy. This idea of the dualism of man is shown in
the Kyogen The Moon viewing Blind Man where the playwright displays this idea of man s
internal struggle between the Apollonian side in contrast to one s Dionysian side and how one can

Cell Membranes In Red Blood Cells
11. The red blood cells (RBCs) in your body contain mainly hemoglobin (Hb), which is a large
protein that cannot pass through the RBC membrane. The RBC membrane is also impermeable
to sucrose. If a red blood cell is placed into a sucrose solution in which the concentration of
sucrose on the outside of the cell is less than the concentration of the Hb on the inside, will the
RBC shrink, swell up or remain the same size? Explain your reasoning. RBCs will swell up by
hypertonic, since the plasma membrane does not prevent its diffusion, water will flow into the cell
by osmosis. The cell will swell and eventually burst. The bursting of a cell is called lysis.

  • 2. Romantic Structure Of Women In Pygmalion, By Bernard Shaw Pygmalion, by Bernard Shaw, uses and modifies common romantic structure to enhance the depth of its heroine, Eliza Doolittle. Like a common con artist, however, Shaw switches the bait with a jarring look at modern sexism and the women s dependency on a man, even if she is more qualified then he. Shaw s withdrawal from the expected conclusion of a romantic marriage reshapes critics view of Eliza, releasing her from her expected submissive social role as a wife, and redefining her as a strong woman. Even with her new representation, however, she is still left in a sexist society, and continues to rely on the bachelors of Wimpole Street for financial support and advice. She goes as far as she can, under the present circumstances, to free herself from the patriarchal society that oppresses and ridicules her very existence. Eliza Doolittle is introduced in Act 1 of Pygmalion as The Flower Girl (Shaw 15), a name of very low stature within the social hierarchy of early 20th century London, England. Her lowly title speaks volumes about her state of living in an economy where the difference between the rich and the poor is visible. She lacks a high source of income, nor does she come from a rich family. Her father is an alcoholic, and her stepmother an abusive guardian. Her language, as can be expected from someone of such an upbringing, is necessitous. So, in conventional romantic format, Shaw places her and Professor Higgins under one bus shelter on a rainy day. Higgins is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Cortical Dementia There are categories of brain dementia, which are cortical and subcortical. Subcortical dementia is marked by motor disruption. An example of subcortical dementia would be parkinson s disease. On the other hand, Alzheimer s is an example of cortical dementia, which as previously established is marked by memory loss. Although Alzheimer s is classified as cortical dementia, it eventually destroys cells in all four lobes of the brainthus resulting in motor disruption as well. • 5. The Little Mermaid Character Analysis The Little Mermaid is a Disney animated film that came out in the late 1900s. The movie is about a teenage mermaid princess named Ariel whose curiosity leads her to defy her father, the mermaid king. Many American girls enjoy the film during childhood and idolize Ariel. While The Little Mermaid continues to entertain children, many parents are unaware that the movie can actually do more bad than good for their little girls . . . Ariel teaches little girls to give up everything that makes them who they are in order to please a man. In Escape from Wonderland: Disney and the Female Imagination, Deborah Ross argues that the goals in which Disney female heroes pursue teach little girls to strive for all the wrong things. For instance, in The Little Mermaid , Ariel risks all of her best attributes to marry a man and walk the earth as a human. Tying the knot with this man is perceived as her goal in life which can impress American girls with the belief that the best thing they can achieve is to win a man and satisfy him. Ross stresses this idea when she writes, what we see her do is flee a world of infinite possibility to settle in a land of the banal [. . .] yes, she gets her legs, she makes her stand, she marches but only down the aisle, to marry some guy named Eric (60). With some revision, Ariel does have some potential to be a good role model for little girls. She could have decided to reveal herself to Eric as she was and see if he would love her for her, instead of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The novel depicts characters who struggle to overcome their woes, with various approaches employed by characters so that they can endure their pain. Winton glorifies the characters able to surpass their struggles through reconciliation and love, describing them as whole and human beings who acknowledge that life is the one thing constant in our existence; something to be grateful for. Those unable to completely conquer their misery do not truly live although they may endure. These characters either are so focussed on battling against pain, they cannot resolve it at the source, or chose a path of self ruin and are diminished to shadows , eventually... Haunted with survivor s guilt and stripped of her faith and son, Oriel battles against the distress she has to undergo and challenges its presence in her life, eventually learning to forgive and move on. When Oriel thinks about everything that s been taken from her over the years , she describes it as the longest subtraction sum invented , growing to admit that since Fish she s been losin the war and lost [her] bearing[s] . Despite this, Oriel stays to true to her reputation as a fighter , only conceding defeat to Fish s state after many years of looking for the answers . The Aussie Battler within Oriel prohibits her from giving in to her woeful circumstances, ensuring that she lives through to happier times. Will and determination is one of the methods through which Winton s characters can continue living in defiance of their torment. Grief is most strongly thwarted by the power of reconciliation. Rather than fighting against and antagonising flawed relationships that induce suffering, it is more desirable to forgive and harbour no grudges; effectively bringing an end to the trauma. Fish s spiritual affliction is appeased this way. Prior to Fish s transcendence, he was traumatised by the abundance of anguish within Cloudstreet due to his superior ... • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Free Trade Free trade is a capitalist concept that advocates for a seamless and free flow of goods and services that is virtually unhindered by state imposed restrictions or trade barriers. Over the years, the American government has signed multiple agreements with governments across the world, to encourage trade between the continental United States and other countries around the globe. Indeed, bilateral agreements ranging from AGOA, NAFTA, and TPP have been signed by successive Washington administrations, ostensibly to encourage Americans to reap financial benefits from global trade. The open and free tradeidea is anchored on the maxim that no country possesses all the services and products that it needs, at any given time. Countries across the Americas fro instance and by extension globally have seen a proliferation in the number of treaties and preferential trade agreements by economies to boost trade. In this regard, some countries are well endowed with extensive natural resources such as oil, gas, and gold, while others may lack them but still need to use these resources. Nevertheless, the sovereign is permitted under international trade laws to impose certain levels of trade restrictions for valid reasons such as protecting its infant industries and taming dumping of substandard goods. In this regard, the world is moving towards protectionism with scores of countries imposing tariff and non tariff barriers as well as the complete ban of certain class of goods from overseas or ... To say that Southwest Airlines is unique, one must only look at how the airline came to life. In 1967 Herb Kelleher was hired by Rollin King to close down a defunct charter flying company in Texas. After the work was complete the two men supposedly met for drinks at a bar in San Antonio. At the bar, King drew a triangle on a cocktail napkin with Dallas, San Antonio and Houston at the three points and said I have an idea for another airline; one that connects just the main metro areas of Texas. (Roam, 2008) The early years for Southwest Airlines, then known as Air Southwest, were fraught with legal struggles to get off the ground. In 1968 Southwest was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Farewell To Manzanar Analysis These days most people don t realize that we need to accept what s happening in our lives and just look to the light at the end of the tunnel. Sean McCabe, web designer, lettering guru, and successful entrepreneur says, Endurance is the price tag to achievement. In Farewell to Manzanar we see a motif of endurance conveyed through the symbolic characteristics of stones. Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston was put into relocation camps along with about 110,000 just because they were of Japanese descent. However throughout the story of her journey in Manzanarwe hear the Japanese saying, Shikata ga nai. Jeanne and many other people in the book say this, which roughly translates to, it cannot be helped. These people endured the imprisonment and injustice simply because they saw that it must be endured. The stone motif in the story screams out the idea that when faced with a challenge you must endure and let it sculpt you into the person you are. Throughout the book when the stone motif comes into play it has a strong connection to something a character experienced. This is first shown when Papa cries when he is playing the Greek 2 Japanese anthem. It brings back a memory of what the song means to him. It can be a man s life. (91) Jeanne said. ... Providing exercise programs, promoting healthy eating habits, and informing residential neighborhoods in helping to promote physical activity for children with special needs would diminish a large number of children in this population. Obesity is a complex medical and psychosocial problem that has its origin in both genetic and environmental factors (Polfuss, Simpson, Greenley, Zhang, Sawin, 2017, p. 1071). While age, gender, life experiences, family structure, and other factors are related causes, excessive weight gain is usually due to higher food intake and lower energy output. Children and youth... The International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health model (ICF) is an approach to identifying variables contributing to a person s overall health. This model consists of health (condition, personal dimension, ({participation restriction, activity limitation, and body structure and function impairments}), and contextual factors ({personal and environmental factors}) (Abeysekara et al., 2014, p. 509). Even with programs that promote healthy eating habits among children and youth with special health care needs, parental feeding behaviors are a concern as well. The problem seems to be that weight related concerns develop among parent and child. Parents are oblivious to the fact when purchasing food, preparing food, pressuring the child to eat when not hungry, they are contributing to the problem at hand (Polfuss et al., 2017, p. 1087). Many parents focus more on appointments in order to help their child, they forget about healthy eating habits. After finishing a day full of appointments, parents feel they are putting a burden on their child when trying to engage them in physical activities. Instead they reward the child with movies, games, sweets, and rest. Giving parents insight on how to effectively encourage physical activity and helping to promote healthy dietary habits could be useful. The brain is so detailed and holds so much information in every little area. There are so many things happening in the brain at once, and one of the most fascinating things would be memory. The memory has various abilities that make it so complex, including the memory system, how it functions, and memory retrieval, along with the capacity to memorize certain ideas easier Memory has different parts in the memory system including sensory, short and long memories. Repeating actions can really help to expand what has been just viewed. The memory is a result of an influence on perception, attention, and learning. Many experiences in life affect what a person remembers. Memory collects the events that were given the most impact on the life at hand. Every time a person learns something different, chemical conversions account new passageways to grow between neurons. The memory traces can be energized at any time to intimate the cognition called memories. If memories weren t in the brain, learning something would be new every time. There are two distinct types of memories including motor skill memory and factual memory. The ability to memorize motor skills, such as walking or riding a bike makes it possible to achieve many everyday actions without abundant conception of conscious thought. Motor skills are very important because they show what comes naturally to a person and what can be improved to help get to a goal or new step in life. Between five to six hours of learning a new motor skill, the capability of completing the task becomes gathered forever in a person s brain. If it is disturbed by another learning action the first one may be erased or can easily be slipped away from memory ( Memory n. pag.). • 15. Violent Video Games And Violence Essay Recent outbursts of violent crimes committed by youths has raised concerns as to what caused the corruption of these minors. Of all adolescents aged 12 17, 97% play video games in some form, and of these video games, 85% contain violence to some degree. With news covering a slue of monstrous acts committed by children, many people began to direct the blame on violent video games. These accusations claimed that the disturbing acts witnessed while playing video games was corrupting youths can causing them to execute heinous crimes. However, newer, well developed ideas have began to shift the blame from violent to video games to other extenuating circumstances. Common misconceptions, analysis of youth crimestatistics, and new scientific studies showcase how violent video games do not cause youths to display violent and aggressive behavior. First, misconceptions and flawed studies have guided the public into believing that video games are the root of vicious adolescent crime. Past studies have indicated that in fact a link does exist between violent video games and violent crime; however, these studies have apparent issues. Many of these studies, failed to prove a legitimate cause and effect between the two variables. The largest problem is that these studies base their findings off means of testing aggression in children that do not correspond with violent in reality. For example, one study evaluated aggression by timing the duration in which someone would inflict a loud noise at another person. In reality, it is extremely difficult to assess a person s aggression in a simulated experiment that will produce legitimate results because it is not a realistic scenario in the real world. Furthermore, the consequences of afflicting someone with a loud sound are not equivalent to the consequences of committing a mass shooting. Another major misconception is that school shootings are a direct effect of playing violent video games. The issue with that philosophy is that it fails to account for other variables that can lead to violent outbursts such as personality traits, genetics, and home environment. Overall, these misconceptions blame video games as the sole problem, distorting the view of video games ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Mary Shelley and her novel, Frankenstein Mary Shelley, wife of Percy Shelley, became a highly respected household name after she wrote and published her famous novel, Frankenstein, during The Romantic Period. Mary Shelley indirectly reflects her backstory and The Romantic Period through Frankenstein, and even impacts The Romantic Period through her novel. Evidence of both the reflection of The Romantic Period and Ms. Shelley s impact on it are found in her background, the time period itself (as well as modern times) and in Frankenstein. The other very important event that affected Mary s life, but especially Frankenstein, was the loss of a child before writing her famous novel (Biography.com Editors) (Cliffsnotes Editors). It s very clear that in Ms. Shelley s book, Dr. Frankenstein is trying to resurrect someone from the dead; having knowledge on Mary s background actually leads many people to believe that this idea of resurrection is coming from her wanting to bring back the only child she had ever birthed (Biography.com Editors)(Cliffsnotes Editors). Mary fits in very naturally with the ideals of The Romantic Period; Frankenstein, her most famous novel, clearly reflects this. In Frankenstein, the creature is rejected from society because of his grotesque appearance, lack of manners, and lack of intelligence. • 32. Differences Between The Federal And Federal Court System Two Separate Justice Systems The U.S. Constitution created a strong government structure for the United States known as federalism. Both the federal and state governments must have their own court systems to apply and interpret their own specific laws. Both federal and state constitutions attempt to do this by specifically spelling out the jurisdiction of their own court systems. For example, U.S Constitution gives Congress the power to make uniform laws concerning bankruptcies, a state court would lack jurisdiction in this matter. Since the Constitution does not give the federal government authority in most matters concerning the regulation of the family, a federal court would lack jurisdiction in a divorce case. This is the main reason why there are two separate court systems in America. • 36. Importance Of School Counseling According to the American School Counselor Association (ASCA), Today s school counselors are vital members of the education team. They help all students in the areas of academic achievement, personal/social development and career development, ensuring today s students become the productive, well adjusted adults of tomorrow (2017). The definition of a school counselorhas changed throughout the years. There has been a shift from guidance/vocational counseling to a more well rounded approach. Moving from guidance to counseling, means different job duties and educational obstacles. Not only do the job responsibilities include career development, social /emotional development, and academic achievement; included in this change is focus on student s mental health. With the advancement of this career to the mental health field, comes with educating stakeholders on the difference. One way to do this is by producing evidence that counseling techniques work in a language that most stakeholders understand: academics. The money a public school receives correlates largely with achievement. If the students do well academically, the school becomes more attractive. Salaries are better; therefore, more qualified teachers apply and communities become more enticing to tax paying citizens. Just the opposite, schools that perform poorly academically have higher poverty level, lower teacher experience, and less money paid per student by the state in which it resides. All of this ... After bumping into Arthur in Boston, Manny shortly committed suicide. In his life, Arthur had known three people who had committed suicide and two of those were traveling salesman. Arthur was so passionate about this play that he had finished Act 1 in only one day, and Act 2 was finished six weeks later ( Death of a Salesman: Study Guide. ). Within a short while, it had been translated into over a dozen languages and had made Miller a millionaire. Miller began work on his next major play, the Crucible. The Lanval By Marie De France The Breton lai Lanval , written by Marie de France in the twelfth century, is a short romantic poem focused on a foreign knight, Lanval, and his life after meeting a faerie lover. The poem is set in the time of King Arthur, at a place named Carduel a city in the along the borders of Arthur s kingdom, Logres. In Lanval failure is a negative situation brought upon oneself by their inability to maintain their virtue, thus successin the Middle Ageswas heavily influenced by loyalty and integrity. Within Lanval , failure always ensues after a character breaks a promise or lies to another person, whether doing so is intentional or not. When this situation occurs, the characters are not directly considered failures by others, but instead failure arises from the circumstances of their situation. This can be seen when Lanval simultaneously breaks his promise and insults the Queen: I alone love A lady who d win the prize Over all women I ve known of And I ll tell you this, without disguise Just because you need to know Her serving maids, a poor or low One, even, the poorest in her train, Is better than you are, Lady Queen: In beauty of body and of face, In goodness and in well bred grace. Verbal Analysis On Non Verbal Communication Whilst verbal communication is valuable in successful interactions with others, understanding and interpreting non verbal elements of communication, such as body language, is equally as important. As a paramedic, deciphering the non verbal context of the message being expressed can allow the clinician to identify the emotional state of the person seeking assistance. It has been suggested that an astonishing 93% of a perceived message is derived from non verbal cues leaving a mere 7% of message analysis stemming from the actual choice in vocabulary (Borg, 2009). Non verbal communicationtranspires continually, many cues are preformed obliviously as unconscious manifestations of an individual s state of mind; a person can unintentionally appear stressed, anxious, happy or sad as a result of their thoughts and feelings, consequently it is difficult to have total conscious control over these non verbal cues being presented (Hartley, 1999). The only way to gain awareness of these unconscious non verbal behaviours is when someone else brings them to our attention; this is taking into consideration as a Paramedic who appears concerned may inadvertently cause unnecessary worry to a patient (Taylor, 2010). The report offers policy recommendations that will minimize and, in some cases eliminate, certain prevailing barriers to competition. 1However, a thorough analysis of procurement procedures requires a separate report exclusively dedicated to these specific regulations and their effect on competition of service and equipment. 1 CONFIDENTIAL This report identified a number of rules and regulations which according to our evaluation parameters inhibit competition within India s civil aviation sector. In the next few pages, this report will briefly list the regulation, its competitive implications and recommendation. Sections beyond this executive summary will address each issue in more detail. Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) Section 3, Series C, Part II sets out fleet and capital ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Cell Membranes In Red Blood Cells 11. The red blood cells (RBCs) in your body contain mainly hemoglobin (Hb), which is a large protein that cannot pass through the RBC membrane. The RBC membrane is also impermeable to sucrose. If a red blood cell is placed into a sucrose solution in which the concentration of sucrose on the outside of the cell is less than the concentration of the Hb on the inside, will the RBC shrink, swell up or remain the same size? Explain your reasoning. RBCs will swell up by hypertonic, since the plasma membrane does not prevent its diffusion, water will flow into the cell by osmosis. The cell will swell and eventually burst. The bursting of a cell is called lysis. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 12. How does active transport of material ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The glucose carbon (6c) will break into two pyruvates (3C each), then one carbon will be lost in the link reaction that releases a CO2 molecule and adds a CoA the 2 carbon molecule forming Acetyl CoA. The Acetyl CoA molecule enters the kreb Cycle. It first gets associated with oxaloacetate (4C) that releases the CoA. Two CO2 molecules are released after the reduction of 2 NAD+ to 2 NADH. Which leaves us with a new Oxaloacetate molecule that will enter the Kreb cycle again. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ 23. Where are the enzymes that convert pyruvate to acetyl CoA found?
