Explaining Concepts Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Explaining Concepts Essay Topics" can be a challenging task
that requires a thoughtful approach and a clear understanding of the subject matter. The
difficulty lies in the need to effectively convey complex ideas, theories, or abstract concepts in a
way that is both accessible and comprehensive for the reader.
Firstly, selecting suitable concepts to explain can be a daunting process. It requires careful
consideration of the target audience, the level of familiarity they may have with the subject, and
the overall goal of the essay. Choosing concepts that are too obscure or too common can impact
the essay's depth and relevance.
Once the concepts are chosen, the challenge shifts to articulating them coherently. Ensuring that
the explanations are clear, logically structured, and free from jargon that might confuse the reader
is crucial. Striking the right balance between providing enough detail to enhance understanding
and avoiding overwhelming the reader with unnecessary information is another hurdle.
Moreover, crafting a compelling introduction that captures the reader's attention and sets the tone
for the essay can be demanding. It requires the ability to communicate the significance of the
chosen concepts and establish the essay's purpose effectively.
The body of the essay requires a systematic presentation of ideas, with each paragraph building
upon the previous one. Transitions between concepts must be seamless, and the essay should
flow logically from one point to the next. This demands a high level of organizational skill and
clarity in expression.
Finally, summarizing the key points and reinforcing the main ideas in the conclusion is a delicate
task. It involves bringing the essay to a satisfying close while leaving a lasting impression on the
reader.
In conclusion, tackling the task of writing an essay on "Explaining Concepts Essay Topics"
requires a combination of careful topic selection, effective communication skills, and meticulous
organization. It is a process that demands time, effort, and a keen understanding of the subject
matter to produce a well-crafted and informative piece.
For those who find the process overwhelming, assistance is available. Similar essays and much
more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where experienced writers can provide support and
guidance in navigating the complexities of concept explanation essays.

Fruit Fly Research Paper
Three Point Test Cross and Gene Mapping in Drosophila Melanogaster
Many traits incorporated into the design of the Drosophila, commonly known as the
fruit fly, make it an optimal specimen for scientific research. Their short life cycle,
averaging between twelve and fourteen days, and ability to be easily manipulated
through controlled mating allows scientist the opportunity to create large sample
sizes with great ease. Although these tiny creatures have been around since the days
of ancient Greece, they were not thrown into the scientific spot light until Dr. Thomas
Hunt Morgan, an embryologist at Columbia University in New York, incorporated
them into his study on sex limited inheritance. By isolating mutant flies and
performing test crosses he was able to determine that genes were in fact located on
chromosomes and therefore, create a deeper understanding of heredity. In 1910 he
discovered a white eyed variant that became the fuel behind the new field of genetics.
Throughout the following years, Morgan and his contemporaries established the
foundations of classical genetics, leading to a Nobel Prize for Morgan in 1933.
Linkage, in terms of genetic importance, consists of the capability of genes to be
inherited together when they are located together on a single chromosome. A
technique associated with linkage is genetic mapping. This scientific process has
been used to located genes that, when they react together, can cause medical
conditions such as heart disease and

Charlotte Lottie Digges Moon Research Paper
MI251 Charlotte Lottie Digges Moon was born in 1840; she was the third child
for her parents and had four sisters and two brothers. Her father, Edward Moon was
the largest slave holder in Albemarle County; and was also a merchant and a lay
preacher in the Baptist church. Her father was the owner of a fifteen hundred acre
tobacco plantation known as Viewmont . As a young girl growing up Lottie was
known for her astuteness and mischievous behavior. While living at home she
studied with tutors, and in 1857 she went on to further her education at Albermarle
Female Institute. While she was in college some of her school friends invited her to
a revival. The thought of going to a student revival was not of interest to her, because

My Experience At The Military
I really did not know the type of work related stress I was going to get when I join
the military, because my mother was always there for me. The first time I left my
home town, family and flew in an aircraft was when I join the Unites States Air
Force. During my experience 19 years in the military, I learned that our management
and supervisors work hard to learn from previously cases and to teach how to
prevent and or how to deal with stress. During this literature review, I learned more
on how some militarymember s coup with stress including PTSD, prepare military
members prior deployment and how veteran s experiences can mentor civilians
with stressful jobs, and how management can ease the work related stress by being
a good mentor and having different styles of leadership. Since the government are
constantly trying to shut down the monetary assistance to the military and
veterans, how they are going to get the help when in need. Sometimes it is difficult
to understand when someone turns into alcoholics and other substance abuse to
include over the counter medication. Some military members or veterans are
considered binge drinkers when they consume 3 or more drinks for a male and a
female consumes 4 or more drinks in a single occasion. Others will start to smoke
to include smokeless tobacco (Allen, Crawford, Kudler 2016). For example, some
members when they are deployed to an overseas location they will use Nyquil to go
to sleep and they will become dependent.
High Blood Pressure and How It Affects Family Members
High Blood Pressure and How it affects Family Members
INTRODUCTION
High Blood Pressure occurs when there is high pressure in the arteries and the
blood vessels are narrow or stiff, which makes the heart pumps harder to get blood
through the rest of the body. High Blood Pressure is a health issue that many
people today are forced to live with. It is a condition that is increasing more and
more each day. There is approximately about 1 in every 3 adults in the United States,
which has been estimated to be around 73 million people. Among American teens
and children there is about two million who are affected by high blood pressure.
High Blood Pressure (HBP) brings on other health conditions such as tumors, diabetes
and kidney ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Alcohol use: People who are sensitive to alcohol, by drinking 1 to 2 drinks per day
raise their blood pressure.
Birth Control Pills: Some women develop high blood pressure while taking birth
control.
Lack of exercise
Medications: Certain drugs, such as amphetamines, diet pills and the use of some
cold and allergy medications.
High Blood Pressure is a disease that is called the silent killer . It is called this,
because you can have high blood pressure for years without even knowing that you
have it. The only way you can detect if you have it, is if you have yourself tested.
Some of the symptoms are normal everyday things that we have such as headaches,
and dizziness.
High blood pressure (HBP) has a significant amount on me and my family because
have of the family has it on both sides. My family has high blood pressure because
we have all the things that cannot be changed, such as heredity, age, sodium
sensitivity and race. In order for us to keep everyone healthy, we all pull together and
make sure that everyone is eating right, exercising and taking their medications.

The Main Cause Of Coronary Heart Disease (CHD)
Coronary heart disease: It is the condition when the arteries are not able to deliver
enough oxygenated blood to the heart because of the blockade or the interruption of
the arteries walls by fatty material that have been build up over the years.
This condition is called arteriosclerosis
The main cause for arteriosclerosis is the lifestyle and the nature of the nutrition.
It is usually diagnosed after a risk assessment and some further tests.
The CHD is one of the most common reasons for death in the United kingdom and it
s spreading worldwide.
About 1 in 6 men and die from CHD.
Usually, chest pain is the main symptom for CHD , heart attack , and heart failure.

The Four Lobes Of The Cerebral Cortex
The Four Lobes of the Cerebral Cortex
The human brain is very complex and is constantly being studied. Scientists have
named different portions of the brain and try to understand what the different areas
control. The Cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and contains most of the body s
voluntary functions. (ChalkSMART, 2012) The Cerebrumcontains four lobes, the
occipital lobe, the parietal lobe, the temporal lobe, and the frontal lobe. The lobes
are named for the skull bones they correlate with. Scientists have studied which lobes
affect different functions of the body. According to McCaffrey (1997/2014), it is
important to remember some functions can be localized to very specific parts of the
brain; others cannot be classified this way ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The occipital lobe is the main visual area of our brain, the optic nerve from the eye
sends signals here and we experience shapes, colors, and motion around us.
(Franzoi, 2014, p. 63) Also, a lot of memory is stored in this area. (McCaffrey, 1997
/2014) Damage to this area could cause blindness even if the eyes and optic nerve
are healthy. (Franzoi, 2014, p. 63)
Parietal Lobe The parietal lobe is located in front of the occipital lobe. This area of
the brain is associated with touch sensation, smell, and taste. (Franzoi, 2014) The
parietal lobe is also involved in writing and in some aspects of reading and
recognition of visual symbols. (McCaffrey, 1997/2014) Damage to this region could
mean a person could not feel an object placed in their hand.
Temporal Lobe The temporal lobe is below the parietal lobe, near the temples. Long
term memory formation, anxiety, hearing, language word meaning and appreciation
of smell is all associated with this lobe. (Franzoi, 2014) (ChalkSMART, 2012)
(McCaffrey, 1997/2014) Damage to this area, especially to the respect of the left lobe
called Wernicke s, could result in difficulty understanding words and sentences.

Witi Ihimaera uses figurative language to do many things within The Whale Rider.
Ihimaera establishes the narrators cultural point of view by using Imagery,
metaphors, personification and other figurative language. He uses Imagery to
describe the culture of the characters, the appearance of the characters and the
different scenes within the book. In the beginning of the book in chapter 2, he
describes a herd of whales. He describes where they ve migrated from, the
background of the ancient bull, and much more about the whales herd. Ihimaera is
also telling the story of the ancient bull meeting the leader of the Maori tribe, and
the rest of the time after that. In chapter 2 on pg. 12 the narrator says, His Mother

Hamlet, Play and the Movie Essay examples
Hamlet is a tragic play, written by William Shakespeare between 1599 and 1602,
but as years have gone by, there have been made many movies produced in order to
visually illustrate how the events of the play occurred. This allows the film director
s interpretation of Hamlet to have an effect on the audience s understanding of the
play, because they understand the play the same way as the director. One of the
most significant act and scene in the whole play is Act I Scene V. The film work of
Hamletorchestrated by the director really focuses on being exactly as the written play
by William Shakespeare. The written work of Hamlet and the movie directed by
Franco Zeffirelli have many similar scenes. Act I Scene V is one of the most important

In movie version of Hamlet there is a lot of emphasis put into the feelings Hamlet has
towards his mother. During the movie, there is lot of physical presence shown on
screen when Hamlet and his Gertrude begin to argue. The interpretation of Franco
Zeffirelli propose that further plot development due to the fact that Hamlet s character
is being given more internal conflict to overcome, which also connects to the
hypothesis that Gibson s Hamlet is stronger, both physically and mentally, in
comparison to the original Hamlet.
Also, Gibson s Hamlet being stronger shows the impact of the setting on the story
of Hamlet, because everyone cast appears either healthier or stronger than one
would imagine them from Shakespeare s original Hamlet. Plus, in the original play
there are references made about the heavy headed revel that causes other nations to
clepe us drunkards and with swinish phrase (Hamlet I.iv.21 23). Shakespeare s
Hamlet is becoming enraged thinking about his Uncle tarnishing the reputation of
his nation with his excessive drinking and partying. However, Gibson s Hamlet
shows an efficiently operating town with broken barriers between social classes and
small gardens and farms. In the original Hamlet not a lot of information is given
about the general public, but what is known is that Hamlet does not mix with
paupers except for the traveling theater group. The two pictures of Hamlet s world
are very different from one
Summary Of The Poem Of America By William Whitman
It is in this sense that Whitman, always the egalitarian, who said of America and
its people that This is the city and I am one of its citizens (NAofAl, p.1347), posits
the totality of American society as being involved in the active composition of the
Poem of America. Indeed, in the Preface to Leaves of Grass, Whitman encourages
his readers to plunge [their] semitic muscle (NAofAL, p.1309) into America in an
act of national pro creation! All facets of society must involve themselves in seeking
out their truths and experiences to contribute to this poem, and so Whitman asserts
that You are also asking my questions...,/I answer that I cannot answer, you must
find out for yourself (NAofAL, p.1352). America is a new space for individuals and
groups alike to forge their own lives, free from the burdensome shackles of the Old
World. In presenting America as a fundamentally new space for the development of
what William Carlos Williams described as a rebel viewpoint, an American
viewpoint , it becomes clear that Whitman s song is one of projection. That is, in
accordance with Whitman s view of the poet as the true son of God and one who
incarnates [America s] geography and natural life and rivers and lakes (NAofAL,
p.1299), comes to order reality by way of his language: with every line that he writes,
the poet projects a worldof order, meaning, and identity into a space that was lacking
up until the moment of projection a particularly American Genesis. With every

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are molecular scale cylindrical tubes of graphitic carbon1.
Their unique structures give them an extremely large surface area, good electronic
conductivity, excellent thermal stability and strength. CNTs have been successfully
applied in various fields such as medicine delivery2, aerospace3, construction4 and
incorporated into numerous consumer products5, with potential uses in everything
from tennis racquets and bulletproof vests to electronic components and energy
storage devices. The size of global CNTs market is estimated to reach $ 5.64 billion
by 2020 from $ 2.26 billion in 20156. Therefore, the likelihood of CNTs being
released into the environmentduring their manufacture, use and disposal of products
containing CNT has definitely increased7. Despite exceptional properties that are
valuable in many applications, there is potential concern regarding its negative
influence on environmental or human health8. Information on the amounts of CNTs
accumulated or deposited in various environmental matrices is required before any
risk or hazardous assessment can be conducted. Typical methods that can be used for
determining carboncontent such as total organic carbon (TOC) analysis simply
provide a nonspecific measurement of carbon, and are not able to distinguish CNTs
from other carbon sources in environmental matrices. Therefore, a quantitative
method that is specific for CNTs is needed.
Quantification of CNTs in complex environmental media is still
Roman Architecture Research Paper
Two of the most important developments which were unique to Roman architecture
were that of the use of the arch and concrete. Although not having invented any of
these facets of architecture, Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that
it became popular in Roman history as a staple of their architectural style.
The arch is a very popularly used structure for buildings, even today. They provide a
lot of structural support to buildings, the potential to create entryways and also give a
unique space to adding art and beauty to the structure being built. Romans saw the
beauty in the arch, and decided to use it in many of their building plans. According to
the Empire Rome article of architecture, arches originally came from the Etruscans, ...

The arches were a structural design which allowed for more advanced engineering to
take place in Roman structures, along with providing opportunity for them to express
themselves through art and decoration of the arches. This lead to arches being very
symbolic of how Romans approached building, as they were seen as one of the best
things to have included in your buildings as they were both useful and beautiful.
Concrete, although less paid attention to, was equally as important because it was
a low cost and easily mixed and laid material which allowed Romans to get more
creative with their buildings and keep creating more even in times of financial
strain. Concrete usually isn t seen as being a symbol of Roman architecture because
at a glance it is not always immediately obvious whether or not a building of made of
concrete but looking closely to many of the structures you can see that it was pretty
widely used in most of their buildings. Although not having invented either concrete
or arches, Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that it became popular
in Roman history as a staple of their architectural
The Once And Future King
The Once and Future King
The legend of King Arthur is a tale as timeless as any other found in literature today.
Introduced to us by Sir Thomas Malory during the fifteenth century in Morte d
Arthur, it was the first complete tale of Arthur s life. Countless portrayals followed
for any reader interested in the tale of the boy who was destined to become King.
The Once and Future King by T.H. White is certainly the most popular representation
of the immortal legend of King Arthur. It is similar to the tales woven before it but
White gives new meanings and modernization to the traditional story through his
unique perspectives and writing. White takes the reader on a journey in the past

Merlin quickly corrects the boy by telling him his notion quot;would be extremely
presumptuous quot;, and he quot;would be conquered for it quot; (38). Merlyn
wants the young boy to understand that might is not the answer to the problems in
the world. He hopes that when the young boy becomes King he will be capable of
correcting such faults with the world. This is in contrast to Wart s encounter with
the King of the Moat while on an adventure lesson devised by Merlin. The King
declares that there is only power ;, and power of the body decides everything in the
end, and only might is right ; (48). For a young boy, the lessons in life are difficult
to understand without experience. Wart s experience will soon come, for the section
ends when he pulls the sword from the stone and becomes King. Merlyn is the first
to address him as King, leaving behind the boy once known as Wart.
The next section entitled The Queen of Air and Darkness tells of Arthur s war to
defend his title and secure his throne. His fight to claim his rights leads Arthur to a
battle within himself. At one point Arthur declares to his subjects Why can t you
harness might so that it works for right ; (254). He believes that in his pursuit to
conquer his foes, he could use might to turn the bad things into something good.
Merlyn is aware of his naivete but knows that time will bring knowledge or failure.
The Criminal Justice System
Law enforcement was established in majority states by the 1900 s. Early forms of
policing were night watch and day watch. Without getting paid, people from
communities would volunteer to warn if danger. This provided safety until night
watchers failed because they weren t getting paid or they weren t getting pain
enough. Well after the American Revolution and a series of riots, New York was the
first to create the New York PoliceDepartment. To avoid disaster their unit consisted
of day and night watch. Many states started to follow in pursuit.
The current impact of law enforcement within today s society varies from the
different challenges they face. Law enforcement face issues such as working in a

Illegal drugs will always be the number one cause of criminal behavior. Within today

The negative consequences of drug abuse affect not only individuals who abuse drugs

in 2002, the economic cost of drug abuse to the United States was $180.9 billion.

Rebecca Film Techniques
Recently, I was given the opportunity to view one of the best movies made in
1940... Rebecca. Rebecca is a gothic horror film directed by Alfred Hitchcock
features Joan Fontaine (Mrs. de Winter), Laurence Olivier (Maxim de Winter), Judith
Anderson (Mrs. Danvers), and Florence Bates (Mrs. Van Hopper). The actors in this
filmmake the movie worth watching.
The narrator, a young woman vacationing in Monte Carlo with her employer

This technique is the same as if it were a close up on a particular character s face to
show the emotion that is represented in that particular scene. The props that were
used in this film were outstanding especially with the engravings of RDW.
However, a special effect of flashback when the story of Rebecca s death was being
told would ve been much better instead of how it actually was in the film. Other
audience members and myself would have loved to actually have seen what
Rebecca had looked like rather than the story being just explained. If the use of
flashback was incorporated into the film it would make the film ten times better
than what it already is. Although, Hitchcock mainly focused on emotion in his films
paying closer attention to dialogue would make this film brilliant. When the
characters finally did speak you couldn t get a good understanding of what they
were saying due to their rush in speech. The characters spoke very fast to the point
where you had to listen closely to conversation or you would miss what they were
saying, this is where the importance of reading the emotion on the character s face is
vital.
A common theme that is shared throughout the entire film is that your past can and
will haunt your future. As shown in this film and many others by the great Alfred
Hitchcock the theme is generally displayed with every aspect in this film. This theme
is displayed when Maxim

This was done using a simple tactic called sullen obstruction in which:

The Crusades Paper
The Crusades were expeditions that originated in completion of a solemn vow in
order to deliver the Holy areas from Mohammedan domination. The origin of the
word can be traced to the cross. This meaningful cross was worn as a badge on the
outer garment of those who took part in these enterprises and also made out of
cloth. Since the Middle Ages, the meaning of the word crusade has been
comprehended to contain all wars undertaken in the act or practice of pursuing a
vow. It was also directed against infidels who were the Mohammedans, Pagans,
Heretics, or those under the bar of excommunication. Modern literature has abused
the word crusade by applying it to all wars having anything to do with religion. An

In Asia Minor, they turned to spoils and were nearly all slaughtered by the Turks.
Meanwhile, according to the well thought out plan, the four principal armies were to
meet at Constantinople and the regular crusade was being organized in the West.
The Germans, the French from the north, Godfrey of Bouillon, and the Duke of
Lower Lorraine followed the valley the Danube, crossed into Hungary and arrived at
Constantinople on December 23rd,1096. Several different groups of Christian leaders
would proceed in all directions for the conquest and fight for Christianity in the East.
Hugh of Vermandois, brother of King Philip I of France, Count Stephen of Blois,
and Robert Courte Heuse, Duke of Normandy would lead groups of French and
Normans across the Alps and were heading towards Apulia where they took the Via
Eqnatia to Constantinople and set up troop in May of 1097. The French from the
south were lead by Raymond of Saint Gilles, Bishop of Puy, Count of Toulouse, and

Joy Luck Club deals a lot with differences between the Chinese and the American

June and Suyuan are part of the Woo familyand are on different terms because June
thinks that Suyuan does not show affection but Chinese mothers show affection
through good food. June s mother is hard on her because she has high expectations
and faith in her.
An Mei and Rose are part of the Hsu family. When an mei was young, she did not
know her mother until she comes home to see a sick Popo. An mei then goes to live

What Was Martin Luther King Like Socrates
Martin Luther King was a preacher, teacher, and the prime leader of the civil rights
movement, but was he a philosopher? Was he like Socrates, Plato, or Parmenides?
Absolutely. Philosophy is the study of problems that involve knowledge and reason.
Martin Luther king just knew what was right from wrong in his own beliefs. It is
like going back to The Euthyphro , where Socrates questions Euthyphro about piety, I
might do something disrespectful to a person, but to my point of view, I think I did
nothing wrong. what is wrong to the person and what was right to the person, but it
only depends to that individual s morals and values. Martin Luther King Jr knew that

Why Study World Religion
Thirty years ago, I would not have had one iota of interest in studying world
religions in a secular institution. As a former student of a private Bible college and
a member of a Christian semi cult in the Bay Area, I did not view the study of world
religions as an innocuous or trivial activity. Classes in my college that taught about
other religions were called apologetics. In these classes, through a biased world view,
our mentors taught us how to present people with logical and persuasive arguments
that would win them over to the only true belief.
Coercive classroom teaching was reinforced by Scriptures such as, Study to shew
thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly
dividing the word of truth, (2 Timothy 2:15)1 and ...be ready always to give an
answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you... (1 Peter
3:15).2 The Scripture found in Hebrews 13:17, Obey them that have the rule over
you, and submit yourselves... 3 provided the cult leaders with the clout to send us

BIOGRAPHICAL ESSAY
Francis Marion was born in the winter of 1732 (his exact birth date is unknown) at

Marion was given the rank of first lieutenant in Captain William Moultrie s company
of infantry.
In June, Grant led his expedition on the same route Montgomerie had taken. Sensing
another ambush at a pass near the site of Montgomerie s battle, Grant dispatched
Marion with 30 men to flush out the Cherokees. Using trees for cover, Marion s
detachment cautiously advanced within range of the Cherokees, whereupon the
Indians sounded their war cry and fired. By the time the pass was secured, only nine
of Marion s men were left. Grant s column proceeded through the pass and engaged
the Cherokees for several hours, until the Indians fled. Marion s capture of the pass
allowed Grant to create a path of destruction in the Cherokee lands, burning 15 Indian
towns and destroying their corn crops. Finally, Chief Attakullakulla, known by some
as Little Carpenter, surrendered.
Marion s courageous efforts in the Cherokee War did not go unnoticed. When he
returned to his old lifestyle by leasing farm lands along the west bank of the Santee
River, he was accorded great respect and became a successful planter. Although he
spent considerable time hunting and fishing, he was well acquainted with details of
the surrounding lands. He also had an active social life and regularly visited his
brothers and neighboring Huguenot families. During this prosperous time, he
attained a sizable degree of wealth. In 1773,
Examples Of Isolation In The Great Gatsby
In the Metamorphosis and the Great Gatsby, Gregor Samsa and Jay Gatsby isolate
themselves from others showing immense forms of social isolation. In the
Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka, Gregor Samsa has recently underwent an
enormous transformation that has spark his need for isolation. One example that
shows Gregors isolation is when he thinks, Well, leaving out the fact that the doors
were locked, should he really call for help? In spite of all his miseries, he could not
repress a smile at this thought (Kafka 948 49). Gregor has yet to present himself to
anyone, but he feels ever more isolated that before. He is thinking that everyone will
reject him and knows the effect that his new body will have on his family. Similar to

Christy chose this industry from listening to her inner voice and needs. She devoted
herself to her career and passed the peak time of fertility. She was trying to find a
way to balance having a career and a family. Reading of Hewlett s book and
discussion with Christy s friends about fertility treatment inspired Christy brought her
interest in digging in the fertility industry. At that time, some medical research center
started to offer freezing egg services to cancer patient before chemotherapy. Christy

Extend Fertility offered storage services to their clients by partnering with a secure
cryopreservation facility. Also, the company promoted its businessby educating
potential customers via its programs and activities. Extend Fertility generate profit
from egg freezing product, license, and consumers service fee and payment from
fertility clinics. The company collected ongoing storage fee and about 40% of the
total cost of the procedure. The rest of money would split between medical clinics
and pharmaceutical. Christy expected 80% gross margin on the services provided by
the company.
The business plan with such high gross margin seems quite favorable. However, the
company s concept has some potential problems. The company did not mention how
to minimize the risk of hurting women s health when they proceeded to collect their
eggs. Furthermore, the business plan did not include the best use time of the storage
eggs. If the eggs were expected to keep in years, the quality of eggs could not be
ensured. Finally, they did not offer a strong report to state the potential issues of
using freezing eggs. Would the technique influence the health of babies?
Competitors
The competitors were the local fertility clinics. The largest clinic had eight doctors

Tesco s Success At Tesco Essay
Tesco is one of the most famous stores in the UK with it being our biggest sales
retailer earning billions in profits. The statistics of the supermarket are extremely
impressive with over 330,000 staff employed, being the third largest supermarket,
over 16 million Clubcard users in the UK and it being said that one pound in every
seven has been spent at Tesco. All of this used to just be a small stall in East London
when it was created by Jack Cohen in 1919 simply selling groceries making a profit
of just ВЈ1 on the first day. Five years later, Cohen purchased a shipment of tea and
Tesco became a brand with its first store opening another five years later, in 1929,
in North London. Tesco is now not only just a grocery store, it also sells petrol
(becoming the largest independent petrol retailer in the UK), insurance, has its own
bank, credit cards, loans along with products such as its own clothing line F F,
games consoles, televisions and sports equipment. However, in 2014 Tesco had a
shocking downfall when it had been revealed that they had exaggerated their half
year profit forecast by a massive ВЈ250 million.
The downfall of Tesco has resulted in their chief executive, Philip Clarke stepping
down and their UK chief executive Chris Bush, UK finance director Carl Rogberg,
UK food commercial director John Scouler and food sourcing director Matt Simister
all being suspended after an investigation into how it had happened. Tesco overstating

The Harmfulness Of The Fashion Industry
In the United States, 22 billion new clothing items are bought by Americans every
year. Many people buy clothing as new styles are brought in and made popular, and
they dispose of their clothes. This is a huge problem as, the fashion industry is the
second largest polluting industry in the world, the only industry that creates more
pollution is the oil industry. The growing of raw materials, dyeing, manufacturing,
shipping, and disposing of clothingall contribute greatly to how big of an impact the
fashion makes on our environment. The harmfulness of the fashion industry is
largely in part due to the fact that fashion companies and retailers want the most
clothes for the cheapest so that they can make the largest profit possible, while
ignoring the impacts of doing such.
Raw materials that are used to create textiles are very harmful to our environment.
Cotton is the most commonly used natural fiber, used in nearly 40% of clothing
today. While we often see cotton as being natural and clean, it is one of the most
chemically dependents crops in the world and uses requires a large amount of
water. 2.4% of the world s cropland is used for cotton, and yet they use 10% of all
agricultural chemicals and 25% of insecticides. GMO cottons are resistant to some
insects and tolerant of some herbicides, GMO cottons make up 20% of the world s
cotton. Cotton is mainly grown in China, but it also is farmed in India, the United
States, Pakistan, and Brazil. Uzbekistan, another cotton

Crucial Issues In Our World
Since time immemorial, humans have been helping each other in hard situations.
There is a famous saying from Gandhi, who says: The best way to find yourself is
to lose yourself in the service of others. Nowadays, it is one of the most crucial
issues in our world, so we can see a vast number of charities with various purposes
everywhere. For instance, some of them are for fighting against cancer or other
illnesses, some for helping hungry and homeless people, and above all, war victims.
There are different opinions on the best way to apply this worthy cause. To put this
subject into perspective, perhaps it would be better to look objectively at two major
ideas on this contentious matter.
On the one hand, some people believe that charity begins
Concussions And Repercussions In High School Football
Concussions and the Repercussions Each year, thousands of high school football
players around the world suffer from concussions each year. With those numbers
steadily rising, players, doctors, and coaches are itching for ways to make these
numbers decline. With the scientific medicine and technology that we now have in
the 21st century, there needs to be break through. These young men should receive
the correct protection and prevention necessary while playing the sport they love.
What is a concussion? A concussion is a type of traumatic brain injurythat is caused
by a blow to the head or body, a fall, or another injury that jars/shakes the brain
inside the skull. Some players may show very obvious signs of a concussion, such
as passing out and not remembering events that took place before they sustained the
injury. Other players may not visibly show signs of a concussion on the outside, but
inside could have damage. Common symptoms of a concussion are headache,
confusion, lack of coordination, memory loss, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, ringing
in the ears, sleepiness, and excessive fatigue. There is no clear cut way to treat such
an injury. Almost always, players who receive a concussion are simply told to rest a
refrain from such physically demanding activities, as well as limiting video games,
television, and too much socialization. Pain medications or other anti nausea
medications can be taken in an effort to get some symptoms to subside. Medical

The Friar In The Canterbury Tales
The Friar The Friar is a man of many traits, but trickery is one of his best traits. The
Friar is a character in the poem The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer. The
Friar was in a religious Order, and he was loved by many people. He is a character
that appears to be graceful and elegant, but he abuses his power as a clergyman,
which was a common theme in the church during this time. The author, Geoffrey
Chaucer, uses this poem to inform his audience of the practices in the Middle Ages.
He uses the characters of the stories to show some of these practices. The Friar is
one of the characters in which Geoffrey Chaucer shows the corruption of the church
during the Middle Ages. The Friar is a prime example of one who used his position

The Friar put on a holy façade with the people while he would take their money

so cunning, that he could take from the people who had nothing. By using his
reputation as a poor holy man, he could manipulate people into giving him money.
The Friar was a beggar, and his actions towards the people was nothing but begging.
The Friar would beg in such a way that the people would give him anything that
they had. The Friar was the finest beggar of his bunk (Chaucer 265). He would use
his begging skills to make him an income. He is good at persuading people so that
way he can get what he wants as a return, which is a skill of manipulation. The poem
The Canterbury Talesillustrates how one can see how the Friar is a manipulative
clergyman by the way he talks to the towns people, his reputation with the towns
people, and his actions towards the towns people. The Friar puts on a façade of a
poor holy man. Through his façade he can convince the towns people to give him
money, which aids his income. The traits that the Friar has contributes to him being a

As mentioned in the film, Cliff would not stop the beatings until Kelly was dead.
In that sense, Rudy was completely justified in his actions. For Kelly, the woman
he loved, he had no choice but to defend her. I feel that anyone watching the film,
myself included, understands the lengths people take to protect their loved ones.
Even though self defense is not a morally or ethically wrong, Rudy still fails to
disclose to the police that he had been at Kelly s on the night of Cliff and his role in
the death. I feel that his failure to come forth with the truth is dishonest on his part.
Despite his hesitance to own up to his actions, Rudy exemplifies his love for Kelly
by risking everything to come to her
Descartes And Locke Made Modern Feminism
1.Historians have suggested that the new philosophy of Descartes and Locke
made modern feminism possible. In this view the new ideas promoted by the
moderns in the seventeenth century served to wipe clean the slate of ancient
prejudices in Aristotelian scholastics. Prejudices against the intellectual
capabilities of women were to be rethought on the basis of clear and distinct ideas
(Scheibinger 165). In order to justify a women s, claim that woman is the social
equal of man, for example, she argued that sex differences have no significance
beyond purely physical differences. The argument of the mind has no sex, as well
as the argument of how females have smaller brains was argued. The idea that a
wedge could be driven between mind and body held great potential for the liberation
of women. By declaring that the mind has no sex, feminists denied that women had a
special sexual character (Scheibinger 178). This lead to... Show more content on

Despite the revolution in views of sex and gendered differences, the age old
dominance of men over women remained in force (in spite of the opposition to the
fundamental premise of the revolution that sex pervades the body (Scheibinger 191).
If sex differences could be found in the skeleton, then sexual identity would no longer
depend on differing degrees of heat, nor would it be a matter of sex organs appended
to a neutral human body. Instead, sexuality would be seen as penetrating every
muscle vein, and organ attached to and molded by the skeleton. This evolutionary
thought left this arrangement intact, for in the nineteenth century evolutionary
theories commonly accepted, or at least failed to challenge, the rankings of both the
sexes and the races along a single axis of development. They claimed that women s
development had been arrested at a lower stage of evolution, cutting sexual
differences again as evidence. As in the previous century, attention remained on the
focus on the skull and the pelvises as indices of human
The Value Of Banned Books
The number of banned books for the past few years has gradually increase. Most of
the books i found on the recent list shocked me but also made me feel greatful. I
went to a Catholic school where teachers had the right to teach whatever they want.
Scrolling down the list of banned books I realized that I ve read majorty of those
books for school. I personally think it is wrong to banned books because it s
depriving students from learning. A lot of the books on the list had realistic
problems which readers, students could learn from. It taught life lessons and gave
many of the readers chance to see this from different perspecrtives. I think the
reason why these books is banned is becasue there is people of higher power who
wants to keep these

Amanda Berry was the victim that I chose to write about. She was born on April

the night before turning 17. She was walking from her job at Burger King, and
was abducted by Ariel Castro. She had been last seen on April 21, 2003. Ariel
Castro lured Amanda Berry into his vehicle. Berry was listed as a missing person

tortured by Ariel Castro. Ariel kept the girls up the stairs with bolted doors. Ariel
would sometimes take his daughter out with him, but would leave the ladies locked

than likely, Castro plan to attack Amanda Berry, it didn t just happen. I pick this

Mexican Independence
Mexican Independence In New Spain, the Bourbon monarchies in 1808 1810
encouraged some creoles leaders to strike for total independence under the cover of
Ferdinand. On July 1808, Napoleon s capture of Charles the VI and Ferdinand the
VII, and capture of Spain reached Mexico causing intense debate between Mexican
elites. Creoles and Peninsulars prepared to take power and ensure their group would

It was followed by a long period of war at the Siege of Cuautla. Morelos military
efforts were hampered by differences with fractious civilian allies and by his
decision to establish a representative government at a time. In 1815, Morelos was
captured by Spanish colonial authorities, tried and executed for treason in San
CristГіbal Ecatepec on 22 December.
After ten years of civil war and the death of two of its founders, by early 1820 the
independence movement was stalemated and close to collapse. The rebels faced
stiff Spanish military resistance and the apathy of many of the most influential
criollos. The violent excesses and populist zeal of Hidalgo s and Morelos s irregular
armies had reinforced many criollos fears of race and class warfare, ensuring their
grudging acquiescence to conservative Spanish rule until a less bloody path to
independence could be found. It was at this juncture that the machinations of a
conservative military caudillo coinciding with a successful liberal rebellion in Spain,
made possible a radical realignment of the proindependence forces. Vicente Guerror,
planned to combine independence, monarchy, the supremacy of the Roman Catholic
Church, and the civil equality of the creoles and peninsulares.

The Presidential Election Of 1980 Essay
On Tuesday, 4 November 1980, The United States presidential election of 1980 was
held. The competition was between incumbent Democratic President Jimmy Carter
and his opponent, former Californian Republican Governor, Ronald Reagan. Reagan,
assisted by a falling economy complicated by inflation and high unemployment, and
the Iran hostage crisis, Reagan would win the election in a sweep, receiving the
largest number of electoral votes ever tallied by a presidential candidate not currently
in office. Jimmy Carter, who beat out Edward M. Kennedy for the nomination for
Democratic leader, attacked Reagan as a wild right wing fundamentalist. The former
actor, Ronald Reaganpledged to elevate the cynical mood of the nation, and won a
conclusive victory. This election marked the creation of what was called the Reagan
Revolution, and indicated a conservative repositioning in national government.
Throughout the 1970s, the United States underwent a wrenching period of low
economic growth, high inflation and interest rates, and intermittent energy crises. In
the spring and summer of 1979, inflation was on the rise and various parts of the
United States were experiencing energy shortages, Carter was widely blamed and
planned on delivering a major speech about energy conservation, but he thought the
American public did not care for what he had to say. In the mist of all this, Carter
went on the presidential retreat for the bilateral treaty on Camp David. For more than
a week, a
The Components Of Effective Handwriting Interventions

What are the components of effective handwriting interventions for typical primary
school age children with handwriting difficulties?
2.2 Search strategy
Following the formulation of the research question, in February 2015 a systematic
approach was taken to search the existing evidence of interventions for primary school
children with handwriting difficulties and all occupational therapy.
A search was carried out using 5 bibliographic databases. Databases related to
healthcare were selected based on relevance to the topic of occupational therapy and
handwriting. Initial electronic searches were carried out on the databases in
December 2014 to ensure the literature involved was a comprehensive measure
available on this topic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2.3 Criteria for searching the literature
Exclusion criteria were set up to determine the most relevant articles be included to
inform for the research question (Aveyard 2010).
Studies that included children with medical or educational diagnoses that may
confound the results were excluded from the search (e.g. developmental coordination
disorder, autism, severe developmental delay, etc.).
As this study aims to explore and compare the components of handwriting
interventions that are effective; studies that did not describe an intervention strategy to
improve handwriting were excluded from the review.
2.4 Critical Appraisal
In order to assess the validity and usefulness of the papers, a systematic approach is
used to critically appraise the research (Young and Soloman, 2009). All papers in this
review have been critically appraised using the critical appraisal protocol CASP
(Public Health Resource Unit (PHRU) 2007) which is a recognised tool (Aveyard
2010). These can be found in the appendix (appendices 1 5).
2.5 Searching the papers
A total of 152 papers were found through database searching. A further 5 papers were
found through reference lists of relevant papers. 141 papers remained when
duplicates were removed. After scanning the titles of the papers, 116 were removed,
as they were irrelevant to the topic of handwriting interventions for primary school
children. After reading through the abstract of the remaining 12 papers, a further 7

Most people who are are being watched have a tendency to feel uncomfortable and
will often hide their ideas, actions, and emotions. Glenn Greenwald shows why
people s behavior changes when being watched, stating, Human shame is a very
powerful motivator, as is the desire to avoid it, and that s the reason why people,
when they re in a state of being watched, make decisions that are not the byproduct of
their own agency but that are about the expectations of others have them or the
mandates of societal orthodoxy. An example of this would be when Glenn Greenwald
discusses how Jeremy Benthan created the panopticon which was a huge tower in an
institution overlooking the inmates that they couldn t see into. Because they couldn t
see into the tower they had no idea if they were being watched all the time. Glenn
Greenwald, describes Jeremy Bentham s reaction to his invention, agreeing, [that]
what made him so excited about this discovery was that that would mean that the
prisoners would have to assume they were being watched at any given moment,
which would be the ultimate enforcer of obedience and compliance. This allowed
the inmates to feel trapped, more likely to show good behavior to avoid serious
consequences, and hide their creative escape plans. People will hide their emotions
and actions from others to avoid serious consequences, intense feelings of shame, and
to avoid standing out from the social norm. Because human shame is such a powerful
emotion, it often stops people from expressing themselves so that they can help
others. Rebecca MacKinnon, an internet freedom activist, describes that without
privacy and constant surveillance by the government many people are afraid to
express themselves which hold them back from helping others, stating, The problem
is, that all of this

not understand the basic assumption behind it (Schein, 1990). An example of an
observable artifact in this week s reading is a story regarding Chrysler s sales chief
Peter Fong. An issue that plagued other car manufactures was a frustration that

The Effects Of Social Media On Teens
What effects does social media have on on teens? After reading the book Mediated
by Thomas de Zengotita I had realized the over the too use of social media, by
teens today, social media is leading to unhealthy mental and physical side effects. It
is important to publicly state these effects in order to alert parents of what is
happening to their teen. Through reading several articles on the subject, I quickly
found and examined these unfavorable side effects, by constantly using social
media people are becoming more isolated, loosing interest in their education,
relationships, and experiencing several other psychological issues. Social media
has taken over our county. According a study done by Georgia State University in
2013 around 50% of teens used social media sites the number grew dramatically
from 25% in 2009. Social media has both good aspects and bad aspects, social
media allows you to connect with friends and family across the world, social media
gives you a chance to create stronger relationships and to build new relationships.
However, the drawback from using social media is that it doesn t allow teens to have
the real human interaction that you get when you talk to someone face to face. In
addition, using social media demonstrated to spread untruthful, and sometimes
personal information. There are some discussions about social media actually being
positive, speaking from personal experiences I can see the both positive or negative
effects of social media in
Doping And Performance Enhancing Drugs
On January 17, 2013, Lance Armstrong admitted to doping during his professional
cycle careers. He joins other great names; such as Tyson Gay, Mark McGwire, Barry
Bonds, and Alex Rodriguez; all great athletes who have had their reputations
tarnished by using performance enhancing drugs (sometimes shortened to PEDs). In
his interview with Opera Winfrey, Armstrong stated that I didn t view [doping] [as
cheating]. I viewed it as a level playing field (Lance). With this statement, Armstrong
is declaring that many professional cyclists and other professional athletes engage in
illegal doping in order to improve their performances. These drugs can be useful for
their ability to decrease recovery time, allowing athletes to train more intensely.
Currently, most forms of performance enhancing drugs are banned from use in
professional sports(caffeine is a common legal substance). However, it is well
known that performance enhancing drugs are used by athletes in a wide variety of
sports at a variety of levels. Since, according to Armstrong, most athletes are using
these drugs, a new approach needs to be implemented to deal with performance
enhancing drugs. One possible solution is to just allow the use of performance
enhancing drugs.
This issue has become a catalyst for fierce debate on whether or not performance
enhancing drugs should be allowed in professional sports. Those opposed to the
legalization of performance enhancing drugs argue that these drugs cause harm to
athletes,
War Is Kind Analysis
War is seen as disturbing, violent, depressing and stressful. Although some may
think of it as honorable or may even welcome their own death in a war because of
the glory that can come with it, others believe in the protest against the brutal acts of
war. Several writers such as Stephen Crane, Wilfred Owen, Tim O Brien, and Kevin
Powers are especially known to protest against warthrough their forms of writing. In
order to strengthen their arguments and persuade audiences to prevent acts of war,
they use techniques such as imagery, irony and structure to reveal the disturbing
truths behind war. Imagery is one of the most powerful tools that writers try to use
when protesting war because it serves as a simpler way to present clearer images...

Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it
can serve as one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets
up their form of writing and presents the audience with a specific style. The style
that is created from the writer s structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the
topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a list, then
the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each
of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their
writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien
has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities
that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs,
wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt
tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment
Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to
help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not help them
and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. O Brien
also uses parallel structure with his lists to emphasize the items they carried by
creating a feeling of repetitiveness.
Ancient Greek Mythology
The Role of Mythology in the Lives of Ancient Greeks
The Ancient Greeks didn t understand many things in their lives. They wondered how
the seasons changed and what were planets and stars. All of these things were
mysteries to them, and the Greeks answered these questions through the myths of
Gods and Goddesses. Ancient Greeks believed that these Gods and Goddesses
controlled the elements of nature and helped their lives for the better through
everyday activities. Their powers were used to explain all that they cannot, from
everyday work to the forces of nature. Hestia was the goddess of the hearth, home,
architecture, domesticity, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She is the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. Persephone, being such a beautiful and
kind young woman was wanted by many gods, Hades included. One day, when she
was playing in the meadow, the Earth opened up and Hades appeared to take
Persephone. Accomplishing his task, Demeter searched the Earth for her daughter
until Hermes told her everything. It seemed that Zeus and Hermes watched the
abduction. After eating some pomegranate seeds, Persephone was to stay in the
Underworld one third of the year and return to her mother for four months. What
everyone didn t know is that Zeus may have helped plan it. Zeus one of the big
three, is the god of weather and siblings of Hades and Poseidon. Overthrowing his
father, Cronus, Zeus became ruler of Olympus as well as lord of the sky. His
weapon was a thunderbolt that he would hurl at whoever defied him. Using his
shield, Zeus could create anything of nature that related to the sky. He was
married to Hera, but was known for his infamous affairs with other goddesses. One
of his many affairs brought one of the most complex and important gods: Apollo.
Apollo was the god of many things including: music, art, poetry, oracles, archery,
plague, medicine, sun, light and knowledge. He was born out of an affair with the
Titan Goddess, Leto. Apollo was also known as kuoros, which means he is
beardless, athletic, and youthful. However, he is also known for many deaths with
his plagues in wars. Ironically, he also represents purity, he is able to cleanse all the
blood stained on bodies. All in all, Apollo was very powerful, and represented many
things in
How Did The Stonewall Riots Affect The Gay Rights
Movement
The Importance of the Stonewall Riots and Their Lasting Effects on the Gay
Rights Movement Before the 1970s, while it was not illegal to sell alcohol to
homosexuals, it was illegal to run a disorderly bar. New York s State Liquor
Authority saw bars who served homosexuals to be disorderly houses and would
refuse to give liquor licenses to gaybars and would often revoke issued license for
indecent conduct . Due to this many mafia groups saw profit in owning gay bars.
The New York Mafia would sell over priced watered down drinks and would then
bribe the police to keep their liquor license. However, even with the bribes owners
were met frequently with police raids and their liquor licenses often revoked (Why
Did the Mafia Own the Bar?).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Stonewall Inn was run by the Italian Mafia who had a reputation of serving liquor
without a license. During police raids, officers would arrest bartenders for
violations SLA s (State Liquor Authority) liquor policies and then inspect the IDs
of customers. Though this was not a normal police raid to the customers, they
started to fight back, resisting arrest and causing enough commotion to attract a
crowd of five or six hundred people outside the bar. This new crowd threw things at
the police and they barricaded themselves in the bar and called for backup. For forty
five minutes, the crowds outside taunted the officers inside and tried to get into the
bar; throwing bricks at the windows and finally taking a parking meter and using it
as a battering ram. Once backup had arrived they managed to rescue the officers
inside and attempted to break up the crowd. At one point the officers used nightsticks
to break up remaining crowd. These riots continued for another three days
Philosophy Of Socrates Research Paper
If a person knew that they were innocent of charges and could escape would they still
face possible death? It is solely questionable why Socrates would continue to endure
false imprisonment and the account of jealousy and thoughtless men. Socrates an
astute and scholar; questioned the usual ideals of Athens. His forming opinions and
thoughts Socrateschallenged many ideals and theology of his time and men were
greatly offended by him. Socrates had a way with the youth of Athens and this is
what made him a wanted man and for all purposes a guilty man. At this time Athens
was growing and transferring through a political change, one which Socrates was not
favorable. Socrates did not condone the system of democracy causing him to have
men further... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In several of his teaching Socrates believed that having the soul as most important
not to be priorities of the men he was surrounded by. Socrates would be wrong to
escape giving that his whole teaching would cause him to be a hypocrite. He would
be essentially the same as the men who put him on trial. Theology of Socrates
would not allow him to escape; running from jail would cause him to have a moral
dilemma. Understanding his views determines his faith in not of bad judgment but
faith in the truth. Also, it is apparent that Socratic ignorant is another reason why
he choose to stay because he was ignorant to the understanding of his own teaching.
The belief of not knowing his own intelligence leads the ideal of Socrates as man
of thinking but not of perfection. He did not know the values of his own words yet
were threading to the poly god society. Men of this society always saw this man as
a danger however that could not get to him because of amnesty. So insisting
violation on the grounds of religion is how Socrates accuser was able to make
official charges. Socrates actions while seemingly calm appear also to be
contemplated
Health Promotion And Health In Australia
A big part of life is eating and many people find pleasure in doing so. Having an
understanding for a healthy diet is a large part of nutrition. Eating a variety of fruit
gives individual a better chance of consuming all the nutrients and dietary fibre they
need which could help prevent major health conditions such as cardiovascular
disease, diabetes, obesity and certain cancers (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 2012).
Health promotion is a broad term to describe activities that help improve health and
prevent illness. It has a long history in Australia and many initiatives have aimed to
alter attitudes and behaviours, encouraging personal responsibility for health
outcomes. Health promotion can reduce the burden of illness and lead to social and
economic benefits (Lyons, A, 2015).
According to the World Health Organisation, low fruit and vegetable consumption is
among the top ten risk factors contributing to global mortality. In 2003, low fruit and
vegetable consumption was estimated to be responsible for 2.1% of the total burden
of disease in Australia (World Health Organisation, 2011).
Research shows that not many Australians are meeting the required intake of fruit
and vegetables. Between 2007 2008, 57% of children aged 5 7 years ... Show more

The Executive Branch OMB
Created in 1970, the mission of the Office of Management is to serve the President
in implementing his vision across the Executive Branch. Of the many components
that are within the Executive Branch OMB is the largest. They work directly with
the President as well as many other agencies to implement the priorities of the
President. One of the main jobs of the OMB is to help the president in preparing
the budget report. The OMB measures the quality of agencies, programs, policies,
and procedures to see if they are in compliance with the President s policies. The
OMB also helps improve management to develop better performance measures.

which provide an in depth analysis of the financial impact the bill will have over
the next 10 years. They look out for unfunded mandates as well, the bills that are
proposed by committee with any funding sources. They also provide an economic
analysis for expenditures already authorized by Congress over the next 10 years.
They analyze the President s budget created by the OMB to provide a second

spending by explaining the impact of decisions made for government programs.
Many emergency debt relief programs would not be possible without the analysis of
the CBO. The Congressional Budget Office is in a sense another form of checks and

analysis on government spending, spending that could have lasting effects on national
The Body And The Earth By Wendell Berry
In Wendell Berry s chapter, The Body and the Earth, he discusses the connection
between all earthly inhabitants, and its descent into misguided chaos by impact of
time, evolution, and industry. He uses evidence from historical literature, religious
mindset, the development of gender roles and consumerism of the 1950s, and how
one defines love, marriage, and interconnectedness between what Berry calls
members of Creation. His opinions of sexual monogamy and the importance of self
discovery via entrance into the wilderness are expressed clearly, but as the essay
moves through each sub chapter, his explanations become scattered and difficult to
follow. For example, Berry s ideas on religion and the relationship between body and

To say we are insignificant is not to say we do not have unique qualities, but rather
gives perspective to our design. Creation provides a space for human intellectual
growth but cannot be mastered by humanity. He continues into the next sub chapter,
how one can measure him or herself within Creation. By acceptance of our place in
the universe, we are whole. Berry s mention of the farmer and an understanding of
his farm is a constant theme in this essay. Agriculture, a distribution of products born
from the earth and its entrance into our bodies as nourishment, describes an
interdependence. The development of highways, industry, and daily routine of work
and obligation, has caused a romanticization of wilderness. High mountain tops and
deep forests are sold as scenic. Berry reminds the reader that wilderness had once
bred communities and civilization, and that by direct use of the land, we are taught to
respect and surrender to it. But by invention of skyscrapers, airplanes, we are able to
sit higher than these mountain tops and this is his first representation of disconnect
from Creation. Mechanical invention leads one to parallel themselves with godliness,
magnifying self worth and a sense of significance. What is misunderstood is that
through this magnification, because there is no control or limit, we raise higher the
cloud of megadeath. Our significance is not proved by the weight of our material
wealth, rather

  • 2. Fruit Fly Research Paper Three Point Test Cross and Gene Mapping in Drosophila Melanogaster Many traits incorporated into the design of the Drosophila, commonly known as the fruit fly, make it an optimal specimen for scientific research. Their short life cycle, averaging between twelve and fourteen days, and ability to be easily manipulated through controlled mating allows scientist the opportunity to create large sample sizes with great ease. Although these tiny creatures have been around since the days of ancient Greece, they were not thrown into the scientific spot light until Dr. Thomas Hunt Morgan, an embryologist at Columbia University in New York, incorporated them into his study on sex limited inheritance. By isolating mutant flies and performing test crosses he was able to determine that genes were in fact located on chromosomes and therefore, create a deeper understanding of heredity. In 1910 he discovered a white eyed variant that became the fuel behind the new field of genetics. Throughout the following years, Morgan and his contemporaries established the foundations of classical genetics, leading to a Nobel Prize for Morgan in 1933. Linkage, in terms of genetic importance, consists of the capability of genes to be inherited together when they are located together on a single chromosome. A technique associated with linkage is genetic mapping. This scientific process has been used to located genes that, when they react together, can cause medical conditions such as heart disease and

The first time I left my home town, family and flew in an aircraft was when I join the Unites States Air Force. During my experience 19 years in the military, I learned that our management and supervisors work hard to learn from previously cases and to teach how to prevent and or how to deal with stress. During this literature review, I learned more on how some militarymember s coup with stress including PTSD, prepare military members prior deployment and how veteran s experiences can mentor civilians with stressful jobs, and how management can ease the work related stress by being a good mentor and having different styles of leadership. Since the government are constantly trying to shut down the monetary assistance to the military and veterans, how they are going to get the help when in need. Sometimes it is difficult to understand when someone turns into alcoholics and other substance abuse to include over the counter medication. Some military members or veterans are considered binge drinkers when they consume 3 or more drinks for a male and a female consumes 4 or more drinks in a single occasion. Others will start to smoke to include smokeless tobacco (Allen, Crawford, Kudler 2016). For example, some members when they are deployed to an overseas location they will use Nyquil to go to sleep and they will become dependent.

  • 11. Hamlet, Play and the Movie Essay examples Hamlet is a tragic play, written by William Shakespeare between 1599 and 1602, but as years have gone by, there have been made many movies produced in order to visually illustrate how the events of the play occurred. This allows the film director s interpretation of Hamlet to have an effect on the audience s understanding of the play, because they understand the play the same way as the director. One of the most significant act and scene in the whole play is Act I Scene V. The film work of Hamletorchestrated by the director really focuses on being exactly as the written play by William Shakespeare. The written work of Hamlet and the movie directed by Franco Zeffirelli have many similar scenes. Act I Scene V is one of the most important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In movie version of Hamlet there is a lot of emphasis put into the feelings Hamlet has towards his mother. During the movie, there is lot of physical presence shown on screen when Hamlet and his Gertrude begin to argue. The interpretation of Franco Zeffirelli propose that further plot development due to the fact that Hamlet s character is being given more internal conflict to overcome, which also connects to the hypothesis that Gibson s Hamlet is stronger, both physically and mentally, in comparison to the original Hamlet. Also, Gibson s Hamlet being stronger shows the impact of the setting on the story of Hamlet, because everyone cast appears either healthier or stronger than one would imagine them from Shakespeare s original Hamlet. Plus, in the original play there are references made about the heavy headed revel that causes other nations to clepe us drunkards and with swinish phrase (Hamlet I.iv.21 23). Shakespeare s Hamlet is becoming enraged thinking about his Uncle tarnishing the reputation of his nation with his excessive drinking and partying. However, Gibson s Hamlet shows an efficiently operating town with broken barriers between social classes and small gardens and farms. In the original Hamlet not a lot of information is given about the general public, but what is known is that Hamlet does not mix with paupers except for the traveling theater group. • 12. Summary Of The Poem Of America By William Whitman It is in this sense that Whitman, always the egalitarian, who said of America and its people that This is the city and I am one of its citizens (NAofAl, p.1347), posits the totality of American society as being involved in the active composition of the Poem of America. Indeed, in the Preface to Leaves of Grass, Whitman encourages his readers to plunge [their] semitic muscle (NAofAL, p.1309) into America in an act of national pro creation! All facets of society must involve themselves in seeking out their truths and experiences to contribute to this poem, and so Whitman asserts that You are also asking my questions...,/I answer that I cannot answer, you must find out for yourself (NAofAL, p.1352). America is a new space for individuals and groups alike to forge their own lives, free from the burdensome shackles of the Old World. In presenting America as a fundamentally new space for the development of what William Carlos Williams described as a rebel viewpoint, an American viewpoint , it becomes clear that Whitman s song is one of projection. That is, in accordance with Whitman s view of the poet as the true son of God and one who incarnates [America s] geography and natural life and rivers and lakes (NAofAL, p.1299), comes to order reality by way of his language: with every line that he writes, the poet projects a worldof order, meaning, and identity into a space that was lacking up until the moment of projection a particularly American Genesis. Their unique structures give them an extremely large surface area, good electronic conductivity, excellent thermal stability and strength. CNTs have been successfully applied in various fields such as medicine delivery2, aerospace3, construction4 and incorporated into numerous consumer products5, with potential uses in everything from tennis racquets and bulletproof vests to electronic components and energy storage devices. The size of global CNTs market is estimated to reach $ 5.64 billion by 2020 from $ 2.26 billion in 20156. Therefore, the likelihood of CNTs being released into the environmentduring their manufacture, use and disposal of products containing CNT has definitely increased7. Despite exceptional properties that are valuable in many applications, there is potential concern regarding its negative influence on environmental or human health8. Information on the amounts of CNTs accumulated or deposited in various environmental matrices is required before any risk or hazardous assessment can be conducted. Typical methods that can be used for determining carboncontent such as total organic carbon (TOC) analysis simply provide a nonspecific measurement of carbon, and are not able to distinguish CNTs from other carbon sources in environmental matrices. Therefore, a quantitative method that is specific for CNTs is needed. Quantification of CNTs in complex environmental media is still

Although not having invented any of these facets of architecture, Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that it became popular in Roman history as a staple of their architectural style. The arch is a very popularly used structure for buildings, even today. They provide a lot of structural support to buildings, the potential to create entryways and also give a unique space to adding art and beauty to the structure being built. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The arches were a structural design which allowed for more advanced engineering to take place in Roman structures, along with providing opportunity for them to express themselves through art and decoration of the arches. This lead to arches being very symbolic of how Romans approached building, as they were seen as one of the best things to have included in your buildings as they were both useful and beautiful. Concrete, although less paid attention to, was equally as important because it was a low cost and easily mixed and laid material which allowed Romans to get more creative with their buildings and keep creating more even in times of financial strain. Concrete usually isn t seen as being a symbol of Roman architecture because at a glance it is not always immediately obvious whether or not a building of made of concrete but looking closely to many of the structures you can see that it was pretty widely used in most of their buildings. Although not having invented either concrete or arches, Romans managed to expand their use in such a way that it became popular in Roman history as a staple of their architectural

Merlin quickly corrects the boy by telling him his notion quot;would be extremely presumptuous quot;, and he quot;would be conquered for it quot; (38). Merlyn wants the young boy to understand that might is not the answer to the problems in the world. He hopes that when the young boy becomes King he will be capable of correcting such faults with the world. This is in contrast to Wart s encounter with the King of the Moat while on an adventure lesson devised by Merlin. The King declares that there is only power ;, and power of the body decides everything in the end, and only might is right ; (48). For a young boy, the lessons in life are difficult to understand without experience. Wart s experience will soon come, for the section ends when he pulls the sword from the stone and becomes King. Merlyn is the first to address him as King, leaving behind the boy once known as Wart. The next section entitled The Queen of Air and Darkness tells of Arthur s war to defend his title and secure his throne. His fight to claim his rights leads Arthur to a battle within himself. At one point Arthur declares to his subjects Why can t you harness might so that it works for right ; (254). He believes that in his pursuit to conquer his foes, he could use might to turn the bad things into something good. Merlyn is aware of his naivete but knows that time will bring knowledge or failure.

Other audience members and myself would have loved to actually have seen what Rebecca had looked like rather than the story being just explained. If the use of flashback was incorporated into the film it would make the film ten times better than what it already is. Although, Hitchcock mainly focused on emotion in his films paying closer attention to dialogue would make this film brilliant. When the characters finally did speak you couldn t get a good understanding of what they were saying due to their rush in speech. The characters spoke very fast to the point where you had to listen closely to conversation or you would miss what they were saying, this is where the importance of reading the emotion on the character s face is vital. Many people buy clothing as new styles are brought in and made popular, and they dispose of their clothes. The growing of raw materials, dyeing, manufacturing, shipping, and disposing of clothingall contribute greatly to how big of an impact the fashion makes on our environment. The harmfulness of the fashion industry is largely in part due to the fact that fashion companies and retailers want the most clothes for the cheapest so that they can make the largest profit possible, while ignoring the impacts of doing such. In order to justify a women s, claim that woman is the social equal of man, for example, she argued that sex differences have no significance beyond purely physical differences. The argument of the mind has no sex, as well as the argument of how females have smaller brains was argued. Reagan, assisted by a falling economy complicated by inflation and high unemployment, and the Iran hostage crisis, Reagan would win the election in a sweep, receiving the largest number of electoral votes ever tallied by a presidential candidate not currently in office. Jimmy Carter, who beat out Edward M. Kennedy for the nomination for Democratic leader, attacked Reagan as a wild right wing fundamentalist. The former actor, Ronald Reaganpledged to elevate the cynical mood of the nation, and won a conclusive victory. This election marked the creation of what was called the Reagan Revolution, and indicated a conservative repositioning in national government. Throughout the 1970s, the United States underwent a wrenching period of low economic growth, high inflation and interest rates, and intermittent energy crises. In the spring and summer of 1979, inflation was on the rise and various parts of the United States were experiencing energy shortages, Carter was widely blamed and planned on delivering a major speech about energy conservation, but he thought the American public did not care for what he had to say. In the mist of all this, Carter went on the presidential retreat for the bilateral treaty on Camp David. For more than a week, a

Studies that included children with medical or educational diagnoses that may confound the results were excluded from the search (e.g. developmental coordination disorder, autism, severe developmental delay, etc.). As this study aims to explore and compare the components of handwriting interventions that are effective; studies that did not describe an intervention strategy to improve handwriting were excluded from the review. 2.4 Critical Appraisal In order to assess the validity and usefulness of the papers, a systematic approach is used to critically appraise the research (Young and Soloman, 2009). Glenn Greenwald shows why people s behavior changes when being watched, stating, Human shame is a very powerful motivator, as is the desire to avoid it, and that s the reason why people, when they re in a state of being watched, make decisions that are not the byproduct of their own agency but that are about the expectations of others have them or the mandates of societal orthodoxy. An example of this would be when Glenn Greenwald discusses how Jeremy Benthan created the panopticon which was a huge tower in an institution overlooking the inmates that they couldn t see into. Because they couldn t see into the tower they had no idea if they were being watched all the time. Glenn Greenwald, describes Jeremy Bentham s reaction to his invention, agreeing, [that] what made him so excited about this discovery was that that would mean that the prisoners would have to assume they were being watched at any given moment, which would be the ultimate enforcer of obedience and compliance. This allowed the inmates to feel trapped, more likely to show good behavior to avoid serious consequences, and hide their creative escape plans. People will hide their emotions and actions from others to avoid serious consequences, intense feelings of shame, and to avoid standing out from the social norm. Because human shame is such a powerful emotion, it often stops people from expressing themselves so that they can help others. Rebecca MacKinnon, an internet freedom activist, describes that without privacy and constant surveillance by the government many people are afraid to express themselves which hold them back from helping others, stating, The problem is, that all of this

He joins other great names; such as Tyson Gay, Mark McGwire, Barry Bonds, and Alex Rodriguez; all great athletes who have had their reputations tarnished by using performance enhancing drugs (sometimes shortened to PEDs). In his interview with Opera Winfrey, Armstrong stated that I didn t view [doping] [as cheating]. I viewed it as a level playing field (Lance). With this statement, Armstrong is declaring that many professional cyclists and other professional athletes engage in illegal doping in order to improve their performances. These drugs can be useful for their ability to decrease recovery time, allowing athletes to train more intensely. Currently, most forms of performance enhancing drugs are banned from use in professional sports(caffeine is a common legal substance). However, it is well known that performance enhancing drugs are used by athletes in a wide variety of sports at a variety of levels. Since, according to Armstrong, most athletes are using these drugs, a new approach needs to be implemented to deal with performance enhancing drugs. One possible solution is to just allow the use of performance enhancing drugs. This issue has become a catalyst for fierce debate on whether or not performance enhancing drugs should be allowed in professional sports. Those opposed to the legalization of performance enhancing drugs argue that these drugs cause harm to athletes,

Although structure is a complex tool to use when trying to support an argument, it can serve as one of the most impactful tools that authors can use because it is sets up their form of writing and presents the audience with a specific style. The style that is created from the writer s structure is what affects the reader s mindset on the topic of the writing. For example, if a writing s structure is set up like a list, then the reader is most likely going to believe that the author is just trying to get to each of his or her points without trying to make the reader feel any emotion and so their writing is going to sound dull or bland. The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien has a structure set up just like that type of list. His list consists of the necessities that soldiers carried to war such as P 38 can openers, pocket knives, heat tabs, wristwatches, dog tags, mosquito repellent, chewing gum, candy, cigarettes, salt tablets, packets of Kool Aid, lighters, matches, sewing kits, Military Payment Certificates, C rations, and two or three canteens of water (2). O Brien uses a list to help create his structure by implying that most of this equipment can not help them and the tone it creates is straightforward to imply the dull aspects of war. O Brien also uses parallel structure with his lists to emphasize the items they carried by creating a feeling of repetitiveness.

By acceptance of our place in the universe, we are whole. Berry s mention of the farmer and an understanding of his farm is a constant theme in this essay. Agriculture, a distribution of products born from the earth and its entrance into our bodies as nourishment, describes an interdependence. The development of highways, industry, and daily routine of work and obligation, has caused a romanticization of wilderness. High mountain tops and deep forests are sold as scenic. Berry reminds the reader that wilderness had once bred communities and civilization, and that by direct use of the land, we are taught to respect and surrender to it. But by invention of skyscrapers, airplanes, we are able to sit higher than these mountain tops and this is his first representation of disconnect from Creation.
