Health Insurance Portability And Accountability Act
Purpose Statement
The creation go of the Internet has helped spawn new forms of criminals and crimes, and has
always helped make older criminal schemes easier to execute, identity theft, child pornography,
copyright violations, hacking and you could go on and on. In a 2003 survey conducted by the CSI

The health industry has become the most attractive targets for cyber criminals, because of the large
volumes of protected health, personals, and financial data that are retained. Therefore, it is no
surprise that they have become such a popular target among cyber criminal organizations.
Cybercriminals utilizes various methods to obtain the information they are seeking from both
medical insurance and health industry corporations.
These methods include:
Insider threats stealing patient records and other sensitive information while working for a
company that maintains these types of records.
Using old criminal tactics such as bribing or threatening physical harm to employee with access to
records.
Hackers breaking into record data bases, utilizing malware to steal email, dumpster diving, and
skimming data from various storage devices.
Social engineering techniques, such as posing as a legitimate employee, or business to request
certain data.
The greatest threat to the health industry when it comes to loss of patient data is the insider threat,
a current or former employee who has access to sensitive information, and a reason to utilize this
privileged access for criminal intent. In April 2002, Christopher Scott Sandusky pled guilty to

Dunkin Donuts Vs Starbucks Persuasive Essay
Opinion Article: Make the changes you think should be made.
When you reach two o clock p.m. you immediately start to feel sleepy and very irritable. If it was
the weekend you could easily go lay down and take a nap but when you re at school or running
around at work you typically reach for the next best thing coffee.
While there are various brands such as: Folgers, Maxwell House, and Chock Full O Nuts you can
typically find everyone carrying a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts cup. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts
are the top two competitors when it comes to coffee. I personally am caught between the two. On
one hand, you have Starbucks, they have great tasting coffee but is very overpriced. Dunkin
Donuts while doesn t have all the flavors Starbucks has, is less than half the price of Starbucks.
The amount of money you pay for a small ice coffee in Starbucks you can get a large one at
Dunkin Donuts.
Which companiesnys coffee you purchase also depends on your location. For example, I live right

caramel flavored coffee. It s nothing to compare to the Starbucks Macchiato but, it is a close second.
If I was asked to pick either Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, it would be impossible. There are
certain factors that decide which company I will go with, too many to decide. It all depends on
what mood I am in, what store is closest, and how much money I m willing to spend. They both

The Rehabilitation Of Stroke Patients
Brain Plasticity: How is This Evidenced from the Rehabilitation of Stroke Patients?
The essay will look at brain plasticity in the context of brain injury, specifically that which occurs
during a stroke and discuss how it is possible for regions of the brain to reconstruct to serve new
functions, which were previously allocated to other regions in the brain. The effectiveness of the
rehabilitation methods which use the idea of brain plasticity to help stroke patients regain previously
lost functions, will also be considered.
Brain plasticity is the ability of the brain to change and develop throughout life or with training.
This occurs when the neurons make new connections and the brain reorganises. There are 3 main
situations in which the brain changes: the beginning of life to organise itself, when you have brain
injury, to compensate for damage caused, and then throughout adulthood as we learn new skills.
Genetics only cause the brain to develop to a certain point, the rest of the brains development
depends on life experiences. The brain is known as being plastic , it can mould to what is
happening in our environment, be that drugs, hormones, relationships or diet. The developing brain
is more sensitive to change than the older brain, and the same experience can have different effects
on the brain at different ages.
The brain is capable of reallocating brain functions to different areas and forming new connections
between neurons. The two different types of plasticity

Religious Beliefs, Traditions, Practices, Customs, And...
Hinduism encompasses a vast sum of traditional religious beliefs, practices, customs, and so on
of the Indian people (16). The faith is so deep in tradition, that its roots make it difficult to
specifically define the religion. An important theme throughout Hinduism, however, is the
understanding of the omnipresence of the divine in every alive being (17). The first way in
which Semitic and Indian religions differ in origin is that 1) Semitic religions practice
monotheism whereas Indian faiths practice polytheism. Secondly, 2) Semitic faiths are
concerned with following the laws of Moses, of walking a straight moral path. Obedience to
God s laws are essential and sins must be repented. Indian faiths did not originate with the same
intent, and to an extent, they embrace the insufficiencies of man. They also differ in that 3)
Semitic faiths abide closely to the laws of Moses; they do not question the morals and values
placed in front of them. It is also very difficult to please God, as it requires the strength to resist
temptations to sin. Indian faiths, however, question God, existence itself, and answers relating
their place in the world. This open mindedness is encouraged, and it is relatively easy to be in
good favor of the gods (21). Lastly, 4) there is a significant emphasis on nature in Indian religions.
Whereas Semitic religions are focused on ethical preaching, the Indian are much more concerned
with nature. The Vedic roots of the Indian religions were very focused

Communist Party And Anti Corruption
On April 17, 1989, thousands of student protesters flooded Tiananmen Square, Beijing, to mourn
Hu Yaobang s death. Yaobang was the former General Secretary of the Communist Party and also
served as a symbol of political reform and anti corruption. The students asked the government to
end corruption and to give political and economic reform. Demonstrations spread to different cities,
with workers joining in. They complained about money and housing issues. The spread of the
demonstrations concerned Party leaders, who thought there was going to be rebellion from the
protesters. Li Peng, who ranked second in the Party, believed that they should nip it in the bud,
while Party General Secretary Zhao Ziyangthought that Yaobang s memorial... Show more content

demonstrations is commonplace, but Party members cannot agree on how to handle the
situation. With students going back to their classes, the protesters didn t have any real
leadership. Different factions did different things. Tension arose in the Communist Party while
preparing for Soviet Party Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev s trip to Beijing. Xiaoping wanted to
solve the protester situation peacefully, but at the same time, he wanted them out of the Square
for Gorbachev s arrival. However, this would not be the case. On May 13, over 100 students in
Tiananmen Square started a hunger strike in hopes for talks with the leaders of the Communist
Party, knowing Gorbachev would arrive shortly. On May 15, Gorbachev arrived in Beijing. He
was there for the first ever Sino Soviet summit since 1959, 30 years prior. Unfortunately for him,
the strike made plans for him welcomed in the Square be canceled. By the day after he arrived,
there were at least 3,000 people that joined the strike, which was humiliating to Gorbachev.
While this was happening, Zhao and Peng kept their respective stances; Zhao believed they should
listen to the people and make reforms, while Peng maintained that the protesters were no good and
that they were aiming to overthrow the Party. Xiaoping ignored

John Milton Cage Influence On Society
The classical period was a revolutionary start of music for decades to come. Many composers prior
to the 1920s gained their fame and fortune through music and their creativity in composing. John

Milton Cage, Sr., an inventor, hence the creativeness yet to come through his music. In 1928, Cage
graduated from Los Angles High School with the intent to pursue a degree in writing. Cage

Cage began experimenting with music by placing screws and plates between the strings of a
piano to generate different sounds, known as the prepared piano . He also experimented with
tape recorders, record players, and radios, finding the music around him in the simplest objects,
otherwise not considered instruments by the typical composer or musician. After realizing his
makeshift instruments were not what he needed, he began brainstorming ideas for new
instruments. Pieces such as Imaginary Landscape No. 4 and Water Music were just a few
examples of his creativity in music. For Imaginary Landscape No. 4 Cage used twelve radios
played at once to create this composition. Water Music was created by combining shells and
water to form a masterpiece. Cage used unimaginable items such as kitchen gadgets, metal sheets,
various common objects, and even silence to create a discovery no other composer had
considered before. Through his music, he turned the everyday sounds we hear into something so

the movie is when Maximus advises his associate to tell his armed force their general lives.

insubordination against the ruler which has congruent significance. Additionally Maximus is
repudiating everything Commodus remains for in Rome. Maximus needs to execute him to

Alfred Hitchcock s True Sense Essay
There is a certain familiarity yet suspense while watching an Alfred Hitchcock movie. In true
sense Alfred Hitchcock was an Auteur. Alfred Hitchcock was a film director and producer, who
at times was also referred to as The Master of Suspense . He pioneered many elements of the
suspense and psychological thriller genres. He had a successful career in British cinema with
both silent films and early talkies and became renowned as England s best director. Hitchcock
moved to Hollywood in 1939 and became a US citizen in 1955. The following essay, will, using the
example of Alfred Hitchcock, discuss critically the contribution of the director to the patterns of
themes and style in a group of films.
Images of staircases often play a central role in Hitchcock s films. In Vertigo, the staircase in the
church bell tower plays a crucial role in the plot. Scottie has Vertigo, and is afraid of heights.
The staircase in Vertigo play s 2 important roles in the movie; once when Scottie tries to climb
the stairs after Madeline, but is unable to do so, and hears a scream. He assumes that Madeleine
has committed suicide [01:16:30] and once again in the end when he leads Judy aka Madeleine
up the same stairs and is finally able to concur his fear of vertigo [02:02:15]. In Psycho, several
staircases are featured prominently: as part of the path up to the Bates mansion, as the entrance to

The Urban-Rural Culture Wars Of The 1920 s
DBQ
The urban rural culture wars of the 1920 s was due to myriad changes occurring in society, and
partly in cause of a new generation, angered by the events of World War I, wanting to take a
stand. Exposure to different types of culture in the 1920s varied on where one lived. In urban
places, like bustling cities, one could find modernists. Modernists were more open minded and
liberal in their thoughts. In other words, they obtained a new school way of thinking. Those in
rural places who were not exposed to the always changing city life, were more likely to be
traditionalists and focused on practices, values and views from the past. Furthermore, modernists,
from the city, and traditionalists, from the countryside, did not see eye to eye. This issue resurfaced
several times in major events of the 1920s.
There are numerous documents that further exemplify the urban rural cultural divide in the 1920s.
In document 1, an article written by Ku Klux Klan member H.W Evans, he wrote about the
traditional American values fading and the ethical collapse the country was facing:
we were dealing with strange ideas...[a] moral breakdown that has been going on for two
decades. One by one all of our traditional moral standards went by the boards, or were so
disregarded that they ceased to be binding...We found our great cities and the control of much of
our industry and commerce taken over by strangers, who stacked the cards of success and
prosperity against us (Document 1).

Freud s Theory Of The Human Personality
Freud s theory of the human personality consisted of 3 parts, the Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id
is the inner child. Freud s Theory also separates the Id into two subcategories, Eros (the parent
loving libido) and Thanatos (the self preservation instinct), also known as the life and death
instincts, respectively. The Ego, or the I , is the self awareness part of the brain. This part takes
into account reality and tries to compromise between Id and the real world. The Superego, or the
above I applies moral principles to the Ego s solutions [McLeod, Id, Ego, Superego]. Many times
this works, but sometimes these systems of judgment fail. This applies not only to people, but
also to societies, as represented in The Crucible. The Id, as mentioned previously, is the need
and want driven part of one s psyche. The girls who were pretending to be ailed and bewitched
are the Id of the society, acting primarily upon Thanatos, their will to live and preserve their own
lives. The power of the Id, combined with the Ego, but lacking the Superego, can be a powerful
force to recon with, especially in ones so young. This is evident in the part of the play when Mary
is testifying in court against the girls. At first Mary is trying to persevere against them, MARY:
They re sporting...! GIRLS: (Cutting her off.) They re sporting! MARY: (Turning on them all,
hysterically and stamping her feet.) Abby, stop it! GIRLS: (Stamping their feet.) Abby, stop it!

The Benefits Of Kundalini Yoga
Introduction
Kundalini Yoga is an indispensable aspect of the Aquarian Teacher program in the sense that it is a
science as well as a technology that assists candidates to develop comprehensively in their

considerable correlation exists between yogic meditation practices and human physiology. In other

Brock Turner s Lack Of Justice
Imagine walking down the street at night alone and all of the sudden being taken and raped or
murdered. How would the victim or the family of one of the victims feel if the rapist or

induce fear, panic, or anxiety. The family would have no say in what comes from a release trial.
Imagine the family of the victim seeing him a couple of months later because he was let out early.

There have been many recent cases coming from early releases and a lack of jail time served.
Good behavior release is not appropriate because criminals receive too much time off just to
commit the crime again; the proper solution would be to limit this on a federal level. A lenient
judge makes it unfair to those who are properly sentenced because other get off with basically a
slap on the wrist; making a minimum sentence for all who are found guilty of rape or murder
would help keep it fair for everyone and ensure they serve a proper sentence. Letting criminals not
serve jail time because of an insanity plea is just a way for them to avoid serving their time; if a
person uses insanity defense, they should be required to get brain scans, and they should serve
their jail time with a rehabilitation plan after they are let out. As it is best said in the Telegraph,
rape victims receive life sentences for the crimes against them. The victims and their families have
to deal with this for the rest of their lives, when sometimes, the murderers or rapists only deal with
it for a few years. They are then free to go, and they could go commit the same crimes

The Difficulties of Treating MRSA Essay
The Difficulties of Treating MRSA
MRSA is difficult to treat because of it s resistance. Acquired immune processes include the body
s adaptive response to antibiotics. ie when given the body makes specific antibodies to combat
MRSA by destroying it s outer membrane. Antibiotics can be given orally or through injections.
The main antibiotics used are vancomycin and rifampicin and they are most effective when used in
combination. If it s used early then it can eradicate the infection within 48 hours. Moreover, as a
preventative measure it may be given immediately after surgery (particularly invasive techniques.)
Vancomycin is considered the last line of defence but alone it may be ineffective as,... Show more

Modulations of antibiotics policies alone do not ultimately eliminate MRSA from clinical
settings. Thus, another method for the cytoxicity of MRSA is described by Von Eiff et al. They
describe how S. Aureus can be killed in vitro by shock waves. They also suggest osmolyte
stimulation of innate anti microbial defence systems and bacteriophhage therapy to eliminate the
weaker strains of MRSA. Therefore, concentrate efforts on a narrower range of MRSA so MRSA
as a whole is more likely to be significantly reduced if not eradicated completely.
Other alternatives to anti biotics include surgery. This may be via thorough the excision of all
infected tissue and bone (which is a compulsory procedure,) the management of dead space with
packing or drains.
However, anti biotics used in combination with surgery is often necessary for a more long term
cure. On top of this the management of MRSA requires infection control, offloading, adequate
vascularity, and meticulous wound care.
A surgical option could be through maggot therapy. This is the debridement of necrotic tissue with
sterile fly larvae and clinical trials suggest it is very effective in relation to MRSA. Maggots can
provide a cost effective alternative to conventional treatments, but the therapy become very
unpopular with the introduction of antibiotics. However, with the treatment of chronic wounds

Similar to habitat requirements, the feeding requirements of Felis Catus and Oryctolagus cuniculus
differ fairly significantly being carnivorous, consuming terrestrial vertebrates such as birds and
insects and herbivorous consuming leaves, tubers, seeds, fruit and flowers respectively (Tislerics;
Birch). Again like the habitat requirements Vulpes vulpes falls in the middle being an omnivore
consuming a diet including birds, mammals, reptiles and fruit (L.Fox).
Influences
Vulpes vuples and felis catus are two of the most prominent predators with in Currawinya National
Park, predating on families such as the Dasyuridae, Muridae, Tachyglossidae and Thylacomyidae
(The IUCN Red List of Threatened Species , 2017 ; Burbidge Woinarski, 2016).
Influences at Currawinya National Park
For many of the families present at Currawinya National Park, habitat degradation is one of the
main influences on their survival across the country, while much of the habitat degradation in the
park is natural ware away and break down, some is due to high visitor usage of particular areas
(Queensland Government , 2001). However it is important to note that any degraded sites across
the park such as possible erosion, area disturbances or washouts are rehabilitated to allow

Group B Streptococcus Agalactiae
Group B Streptococcus agalactiae is an important Gram positive bacterial pathogen that cause a
wide variety of clinical infections, ranging from septicemia to meningitis. The reported lethality of
severe S. agalactiae infections is ranging from 4 to 6% in the United States. Of note, it has been
suggested that the incidence of neonatal disease is considerably greater than reported, because the
requirement for positive cultures from blood or cerebrospinal fluid may underestimates the true
burden of disease. Therefore, in this review I focused on virulence factors of S. agalactiae in order
to elucidate aspects of the infection.
S. agalactiae is frequently colonizes rectovaginal tract. S. agalactiae is found in 15 40% of adult
women, and there is a 1% chance to be transmitted vertically from mother to infants before or
during birth. This type of infection is divided into early onset and late onset infections. Early onset
infection, is one of the most common infection among neonates with a mortality rates of 4 to 6% in
the United States. This type of infection is characterized with shock and breathing difficulties and
occurs at birth or within the first 6 days of life. This infant probably had become infected by
ascending spread of the organism from the maternal genital tract to the amniotic fluid, in which the
bacteria colonize and multiply within the respiratory tract of the fetus and causes pneumonia. Also,
this bacteria may enter the respiratory tract and spread to the

My Character, My Voice, And The Plot
NaNoWriMo, which means National Novel Writing Month, has been introduced at my school. The
seventh and eighth grade classes had the honor of trying it out, and I was one of the students that
got to. I have strengths and weaknesses in my novel that determine the characters, my voice, and
the plot. To begin, I would rate my characters in my novelan emerging. One reason, is because my
major, and minor, characters are well explained. My main characterDylan, also known as my
protagonist, is practically explained in every single sentence, except for the beginning of course.
The beginning explains how each of the main supporting characters act, along with the protagonist.
I believe that I explained the supporting characters well enough that... Show more content on

The friend I give it to wouldn t even need to know me well enough to determine that the novel is
mine. It seems as if I am leaving my fingerprint in my novel as I write. Most people know that I
m all against sexistism, and I have proof of that in my novel. I also could be known to have an
old soul, meaning that I don t agree with what a lot of people do in this generation, and I d rather
have it be like old times, which is another point that can be found in my novel. I tend to use grade
level vocabulary when I write almost everything, and people could also find evidence of that in my
novel.
Finally, I would rate the plot in my novel an emerging because of the not very strong climax.
When people think of a climax, they usually expect something like: the dark object inched closer
and closer to me. I had no clue what the mysterious shadow was, but it gave me a bad feeling.
The monster screeched a little, which almost made me fall off the bed. I blink once, and the
creature is two feet closer. I blink once more, and it is five feet closer. I blink, yet again, and the
creature is right up to face. I can literally smell its rotting breath. Sounds about right, correct?
Well my climax, and I quote: I zip down the entrance, but find myself face to face with a bobcat.
Yes, you heard right, a bobcat! I scream probably the loudest I ever have, and the bobcat growls a
bit at me. The big cat even snarls its two sharp, yellow, rows of teeth. I back away as much as I

Before 1918, women were considered to be very much within their own sphere of influence
separate from men. Throughout the 19th century women had slowly been gaining voting
privileges, but only in areas considered to be within their spheres such as the vote for school
boards, the vote for poor law boards and the vote for county councils. Traditionally many historians
have argued that the main reason for the enfranchisement of women in 1918 was their work during
world war one. This view is being disputed on multiple levels; some argue that the war itself called
for a rearrangement of the whole electoral system. Alternatively other historians argue that the work
of the women s suffrageworkers such as the suffragist s and the suffragettes,... Show more content

This clause meant that young men who had been fighting overseas during the war for more than six
months did not meet this requirement and were disenfranchised. This caused public outrage and
was seen to be completely unacceptable that young men were deemed ineligible to vote for the
government of the country they had risked their lives fighting to protect. Bartley argues that due to
the unjustness of this, the whole electoral system had to be rethought and this included women s
rights.
Although the war and women s efforts during the war were a significant factor in gaining the
vote for women, the campaigning of the suffragist s has been argued to have been of more
significance. The National Union of women s suffrage societies or the NUWSS aka the
Suffragists was an association composed of mainly middle class women who were well
educated and brought up believing in equal rights for women. The reason there were very few
working class women in the NUWSS was because they were generally not supported by their
husbands as working class men believed that women should remain below them and did not
believe in equal rights. The leader of the NUWSS was Millicent Fawcett; a middle class woman,
married to a lawyer and was brought up believing in equal rights. Millicent Fawcett and the
NUWSS employed peaceful tactics such as holding peaceful protests in the form of marches and
wrote newspaper articles in order to campaign for women s rights. There has been much dispute

The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop
The Fish by Elizabeth Bishop is a very colorful poem filled with lots of different outcomes than
our usual expectations. The poem is very symbolic through its use color and the fish it describes.
The poem is also written in free verse, which you could relate to the nature of the fish. It is set on a
boat in the middle of the ocean, with the ocean symbolizing chaos, the nature of the poem. The fish
causes some conflict within this poem. First, the fish changes the speaker s expectation of how
events will occur. We can infer that the speaker did not find catching the fish as fulfilling as she
thought she would have. Based on the long debating and dangling of the fish, it is obvious that the
speaker feels at least moderately conflicted about

Artemis Morley Essay
Last April (2016) when I made my inaugural trip to the Artemis Film Festival, I came in contact
with the works of a filmmaker that greatly intrigued me Jill Morley. Although I didn t meet her
nor screen her work at the festival, I have discovered that if Artemis promotes a filmmaker, it is
worth my while to investigate the person. And that is exactly what I did. A few months back, Jill
and I had the opportunity to chat, and in spite of her busy schedule, we briefly discussed her work
within the indie filmcommunity, her various films and projects, and her in progress works and
future aspirations.

So between your two films Confessions of a Go Go Girl and Fight Like a Girl, which one seemed

It s hard to say. It s been so long between the films. The first film got into more festivals, and we
got a broadcast distribution. But now so many more people are making films. I still don t feel

Pit And The Pendulum Mood
Edgar Allen Poe wrote The Pit and the Pendulum in 1843, during the middle period of the gothic
literature era. The gothic literature era had heavy influences in horror and the macabre, which ties
in with the ideas of Poe s tone and themes. Poe was an author known for his horror poems and
short stories, including titles such as The Tell Tale Heart and The Masque of Red Death. ( Edgar
Allan Poe1). Poe s works are known for their descriptive style and suspenseful plots. By
demonstrating descriptive imagery and contrasting vocabulary between good and evil, Edgar Allen
Poe exemplifies a grim tone, which creates an overall morose mood.

Figurative language adds elements of fear to the overall tone of the story. Mundane things such
as candles and shadows are compared and described as ideas such as death, angels, et cetera. For
example, the narrator describes the candles flames as white slender angels who would save
[him] , but later describes how the angel forms became meaningless spectres, with heads of
flame, and [he] saw that from them there would be no help ( Pit and the Pendulum 4). He
describes candles as angels who seem hopeful at first, then only emphasize his despair. Another
example is when the narrator is falling in and out of consciousness and he is thinking back to his
life. He tells of the shadows of memory ( Pit and the Pendulum 1), and they come to life as a
figurative embodiment of madness and the descent into an acceptance of death. They tell of the
ghastly train of madness ( Pit and the Pendulum 5). Throughout the story, his mind and soul take
up various personifications and metaphors in order to tell distinctly about the horror taking place.
The author speculates terror as a lost mind. Figurative language plays the largest part in
delineating the psychological aspect of the events taking place by adding physical imagery of the
mind s behaviors. In The Raven , the one of the biggest examples of figurative language can be seen
in the repetition and alliteration in the stanzas and the

Why Is Erik Fisher Bad
There are tons of horrible people in this world. There are people that can easily blackmail, bomb,
and kill innocent people for no reason except for making other people feel horrible. For example
Osama Bin Laden was the leader of the terrorist organization al Qaeda. al Qaeda is best known
for the horrible attacks of 9/11. I think some villains can easily can relate to how Erik Fisher is
so disregarding of others, cruel, and murderous. While there are many things that makes people
great villains Erik Fisher must have most of them. Throughout the book Erik is very
disregarding to others because he doesn t care about others sadness or pain. Without caring Erik
will just steal from people and hit people causing some severe hits. Unlike Erik, Paul tries to help
people. Paul was even willing to jump into a sinkhole and pull people out. Paul even stands up to

Determining the Energy Requirements of an Individual
The determination of patients energy needs is important in the clinical practice since the balance
between energy intake and expenditure has important implications to the patient s health, as well as
underfeeding and overfeeding. However, identifying the patients energy expenditure and designing
adequate nutritional support for them can be a task, and measurements and estimative calculations
are currently used in the clinical setting for this purpose1,2. Determining the energyrequirements of
an individual may be difficult since many factors are involved such as age, gender, body
composition, physical activity, nutritional status, illness and the goals of the nutritional treatment.
As there are no methods which could involve all these factors, dietitians have to be careful and
carry a clinical judgement when determining these requirementsВі.
Energy expenditure is characterized by the number of kcal used by the human body per day. In
healthy individuals, energy expenditure can be divided into basal metabolic rate (BMR), thermic
effect of food and physical activity. In not so physically active individuals or hospitalized
individuals, the BMR is by far the largest component of total daily energy expenditure, accounting
for around 60 75% of total expenditure1,2,3,4. It s the energy required to maintain the organism
functions, temperature and survival and, in healthy individuals, it can vary according to differences
in body composition (fat free mass proportion), weight,

Problems Faced With Airport Security
When tragedy struck the nation on September 11th, the minor problem of airport security breeches
suddenly became one of the biggest concerns facing our nation. Ever since the late 1980s there had
been many promises and plans to shape up airport security, but according to experts there has been
little, if any, real improvement in public safety since that time (Morris 28). Its obvious to assume
that because of the lack of improvement, great tragedy struck our nation on September 11th. Since
September 11th there has been great attempts in fixing the problems that we face with airport
security, but yet there are still breaches in airport security, we are still not safe. There are several
factors behind the problems with airport security; they range from inadequate machinery used, to
poorly trained screeners. A proposal needs to be raised, one that would seal up the remaining gaps
that we still face regarding the issue of airport security.
Due to all the complicated factors that we have to deal with in regards to airport security, a
proposal will be raised. With the proper precautions, the events of September 11th could have been
prevented. The question raised is, what are the problems with airport security? The issue rather
complex involves three main areas; they include policy, technology, and personnel. The main
problem is the personnel, and it starts with the screeners. A screener is someone who stands watch
as travelers put their items on the X ray conveyor belt (schwartz

Essay about ansel adams
Ansel Adams photographer and artist
Until the 19th century most artwork was created in a two or three dimensional media. In
England, William Fox discovered a technique that allowed camera images to be captured on
paper. This medium has evolved since Fox s discovery in 1839 to a serious and viable form of art
today. Photography allows the artist to capture what he sees. The image produced is reality to the
artists eye, it can only be manipulated with light and angles.
The photograph is a very powerful medium. The French painter Paul Delaroche exclaimed upon
seeing an early photograph from now on, painting is dead! (Sayre, 2000). Many critics did not take
photography seriously as a legitimate art form until the 20th century. With the... Show more content

Association Among Self Photography and Self Esteem, and Narcissism
The procreation of social media in daily life has caused various questions about how individuals
display themselves in these platform. The recent studies explored the association between self
esteem and the posting of self photographs on a social media networking site such as Instagram,
Snapchat and Facebook. Social media arenas have become strikingly popular in the past decade
serving the varied communicative intentions. Despite the accelerated rise in social media
networking industry, the research has been passive to study the behavior on social media such as
self photography which has been a general issue of conversation in day to day life. One of the big
questioning is about what one s behavior on social media might express his or her personality traits.
Self esteem and narcissism have frequently been considered as crucial awareness in the growth of
selfie industry (Cosima, 2016; Mirshak, 2016). Individuals with narcissistic personality may be
more likely to post selfies on social media networking sites than others. Actually, a recent
research study revealed that the frequency of selfie postings on social networking sites was
notably correlated with self reported narcissism among adult males (Tomko, 2016). Besides,
since it is possible for individuals to discreetly pick and edit the posts, and even decide who is not
allowed to access their posts, individuals with low self esteem may be more likely

The Paradigm Shift in Consumption
The Paradigm Shift in Consumption: The New Food Equation Consumer behaviors are
constantly changing, as can be seen with the recent trends of obesity in the global north and
hunger and malnutrition in the global south. Understanding global food systems is very
important as it helps explain opportunities and well as problems that exist in the current global
food system. In 1950 s and 60 s an industrial food formula, was created in order to take strides
towards delivering ample, affordable, healthy and safe food in the global North (Roberts, 2013).
This Industrial formula has not lived up to its standards however and has caused some
disappointment. As new generations emerge, so do aspirations that food should taste real,
provide fulfilling careers, support health, contribute to local communities, honor the
environment and enhance global sustainability (Roberts, 2013: 11). This new trend has been
termed the New Food Equation by Kevin Morgan and is a way to present the food problem as a
challenge and urge people to solve the problem by making good food choices (Rogers, 2013).
They are multiple pillars to implementing this new food movement, but food sovereignty and
organic foods are the area of focus today. Members of La Via Campania coined the term food
sovereignty. This was an organization formed in 1992 that represents some 200 million peasants,
small farmers, agricultural workers and indigenous people from seventy different countries (Rogers,
2013: 88). They

It is referred to as a repetitive locomotion stereotype. During the progression of the behavior over
time, the intensity changes. When the animal initially begins the pacing, they may be easily

trance, unable to break their pace or gaze. This is what we so often see in zoos the apparent
detachment from their environment (Di Lamont). This fact is stating how captivity could affect
animals mental health very strongly. Also, Zoos, contrary to what many people believe, often
cause great suffering and stress to the captive animals. Animals in zoos are caged for life and
deprived of the opportunity to develop and fulfill the full range of their interests and needs. They
lose control over their lives and the environment they live in. Social animals are often forced to
live in the misery of solitary confinement. Animals who would prefer to live alone are often forced

When humans experience excessive stress, whether from internal worry or an external

response is built into our brains and is designed to protect us from bodily harm, preparing our
body for running or fighting. Throughout Lord of the Flies by William Golding, The Destructors

Communication Management For Securing The Olympic...
1) The 2024 Summer Olympics are less than 22 months away... Please research one of the below
campaign host cities and use examples of Communication Management for securing the Olympic
Committee voter bid.
For the Summer Olympic games in 2024 I choose Los Angeles as the host city because it hosted
the 1932 games. Another reason I picked Los Angeles was because they are the most diverse city
in America but they are also the Western capital of the US, The Northern Capital of Latin America,
and Eastern capital of the Pacific Rim.
With that there are three main examples of communication management to help LA secure its vote
in the Olympic bid.
1)Communication Process Los Angeles released a video calling it LA24 and it shows why LA
should be chosen to hold the 2024 Olympics by having facts about LA come up throughout the
video while watching someone run or swim or bike.
2)Sport Organizational Image LA has hosted the Olympic games in 1932 so they aren t new to this
huge sporting event. The target audience in the LA24 is focused on all ages and races. I think they
wanted to show that LA welcomes everyone of every race, language, ect.
3)Sport Promotion Below are some of the sport promotional mix
Advertising LA24 is their main advertisement as of yet

The Art Of Technology And Schools Essay
The Art of Technology in Schools
All types of technology are becoming more prevalent everywhere. Everyone has a tablet,
laptop, smart phone, iPad or some type of technology in this day and age. It seems as if kids are
gaining more access to these technologies because of their schools. In schools students are being
given technology for homework and online textbooks now. Students are also getting exposure to
technology as teaching aids in schools as well. Many people believe that technology in class
rooms is a recipe for disaster. Students will just be distracted and not use the technology what it
is meant for. While there are disadvantages to the technology within schools as teaching aids and
free use technology for students; there are many advantages to these technologies, and ultimately
technology is very beneficial for students and teachers.
On the surface technology in the classroom as free use is just asking for distractions
during class. During lecture students are going to be on social media, YouTube, playing games,
or listening to music. As technology being a distraction is just one of the many disadvantages,
this is the biggest issue. In an article written by Kate Bane talking about technology being a
distraction she states:
And that lack of self discipline can cause a dip in student grades. Technology
often aids in classroom discussions and makes for faster note taking, but
sometimes the temptation to check email and social media during class does

Consider The Lobster Analysis
I was approximately 7 or 8 years old when the smell of gambling and blood was the air, thrilling
the expectations of the spectators. The ear piercing sound of a rooster begging for mercy from his
opponent. Like savages we cheered on the winner, I found myself in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Years
later, when I sit down to read, Consider the Lobsterby David Foster Wallace, the feeling of guilt
that ran through my mind made me feel uncomfortable. the Lobster are boiled alive at these
festivals and as the author mentioned that, the lobster was moving in agony as he was trying to get
out the pot while he was boilingalive. For the people that do not care, it is not about individual
conscience but on a moral perspective. I have a simple question to ask them, can you imagine
getting into a boiling pot and boiled alive for approximately 35 45 seconds? Because that s how
long it takes the lobster to die in the boiling pot. Animal Cruelty has to be stopped in both
cockfights in Puerto Rico and the lobsters being boiled alive in New England or at least force people

Since lobsters do not have a cerebral cortex which is the part of the brain that receives
neurotransmitters signals that feel pain. However, when it comes to cockfights, roosters have a

rooster it is a similar feeling to pulling a hair on a human. Unlike the lobster, the rooster has a
cerebral cortex and it is very similar to humans. When humans feel intense pain, our bodies seem to
react by sending hormones such as endorphins and enkephalins. Since the lobster don t have an
advanced nervous system they are more vulnerable to pain because they have natural opioids.

Immanuel Kant Vs Foucault
This piece will begin with the immortal words of Immanuel Kant: Reason does not work
instinctively, but requires trial, practice, and instruction in order to gradually progress from one
level of insight to another . The definition of reason according to Immanuel Kant is that it is a
wave, a never ending influence that is continually constructing and improving previous perceptions
on knowledge. When referring to the Enlightenment in the following piece, the time period that
involved a massive intellectual and rational movement that took Europe by storm in the 18th
century is to be considered. Both essays written by Immanuel Kant, the 18th century German
philosopher, and Michel Foucault, the 20th century French philosopher, titled An answer... Show

By observing the Age of Enlightenment, we can see the influence of the added application of
reason that was used to free cities from the historically pressed minority ordeal. Countless
scientific breakthroughs occurred and many new ideas were formulated as a result of individuals
making use of their own reason without direction from someone else, all in a matter of a few years.
The influence of the Enlightenment thinking is shown by Foucault to have travelled much further
than its time period; influencing recent thought processes such as the modernist movement.
Therefore, it can be said that the Enlightenment can be considered the age of reason because, for
the first time, numerous individuals were able to reason for themselves by the loosening of the
grip of minority and as a result, the root of many modern concepts and ideas as well as modes of
thinking are found in this precise point of

Analysis Of The Chains Of Slavery By Jean-Paul Marat
Man has the right to deal with his oppressors by devouring their palpitating hearts. Although harsh,
Jean Paul Marat s words resonate strongly with the ideals he pushed for in revolutionary France.
With his newspaper and political positions, Marat pushed for a complete eradication of the noble
class in current power, advanced the Convention beliefs, and pressed for liberal changes throughout
the Parisian government. According to Ide, In Marat s newsletter L Ami du peuple, meaning friend
of the people, he intensely criticized the upper class and nobles throughout France. Even before his

This common shared belief among Convention members led to an eventual poster, created by
Marat, stating, Five or six hundred heads lopped off would have assured you repose and

France and put him to death. King Louis s death, the pressures the National Convention created to
eradicate nobility, and even Marat s tragic death would help to instigate the Reign of Terror

nobles, Marat also pushed for the elimination of the Girondins in the Convention the article Jean
Paul Marat states. The fighting between the Girondins and the Montagnards ended immediately
after the Girondins s expulsion from the Convention, leading to more power in the hands of Marat
and his fellow Montagnards. The Convention was eventually disbanded, though not before helping

Essay about Socrates’ Trial Defense in Terms of His Values
Socrates Trial Defense in Terms of His Values
In his Apology, Plato recounted the trial that led to the execution of his friend and mentor, Socrates.
The account revealed that values of Socrates accusers and his own fundamentally differed, and that
they had been angered because he tried to prove that they had misplaced theirs. Those differences
created conflict between the two parties that culminated in his trial. With the understanding that a
jury condemned Socrates to death and his defense nevertheless pleased him because he gave it
truthfully, it is most sensible to call it a good defense because he felt it was the best that he could do.
In reply to the first charge against him, Socrates effectively ... Show more content on

Had people believed that Socrates in fact had no wisdom, his reputation would not have become
so bad and his defense would have been more likely to succeed. He explained, however that
individuals whom he criticized took offense at him and grew angry because they felt that he had
more wisdom than they did. ...I am called wise, for my hearers always imagine that I myself
possess the wisdom which I find wanting in others: but the truth is, O men of Athens, that God only
is wise; and in this oracle he means to say that the wisdom of men is little or nothing... (Plato, 5)
While that statement would not have convinced many people that Socrates lacked wisdom, it
succeeded at presenting the idea that the oracle meant the wisdom of people is little or nothing.
That likely benefited him among his supporters and some neutral jurors because they could have
believed that Socrates mission had been to show that people lacked wisdom compared to gods
rather than that he had more wisdom than others did. Among people who disliked him or who took
pride in their wisdom, the argument would not have helped him; they wouldn t have believed in the
piety of his mission and they would have thought that it proved the superiority of his wisdom to
theirs.
Socrates then defended the second charge against him with logical arguments and facts of Athenian
society, both of which made this part of his overall defense

The Significance of the Title of To Kill a Mockingbird by...
The Significance of the Title of To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee The title of this novel is To
Kill a Mockingbird and throughout the book the word mockingbird appears several times. The
mockingbird is the most significant symbol in the novel. The motif of the story is the innocent
creature of the mockingbird. What is a mockingbird? A mockingbird is a type of finch. It is a
small plain bird and has a beautiful song. It got its name because its beautiful sing mocks other
birds. The mockingbird idea first comes about in chapter 10,when Atticus is telling the children
how to use their shotguns. He tells them: Shoot all the blue jays you want, if you can hit em. But

They haven t done anything wrong and are scared that they may get hurt or something bad may
happen when the dog appears. Another time the mockingbird idea comes up is in chapter
21,when everyone is in the court room waiting for the verdict on whether Tom Robinson has
been found guilty or not. Scout describes the atmosphere in the courtroom like this: The feeling
grew until the atmosphere in the court room was exactly the same as a cold February morning,
when the mockingbirds were still and the carpenters had stopped hammering on miss Maudie s
new house. I think that when Scout talks about the atmosphere being like a cold February
morning she is describing the tension in the room. When everyone is still and silent. When
Scout says that the mockingbirds were still I think that she was referring to Atticus and Tom
Robinson. I think this because Tom is waiting to see if he has been found guilty or not and
Atticus is waiting to see if he has won his case. They are both deadly still and anxious to hear the
verdict. They have been regarded as mockingbirds because both Atticus and Tom are innocent
characters that have done nothing wrong. Also another place in which the idea of mockingbirds
appears is in chapter 25,when Mr Underwood is talking about Tom Robinson s escape and death.
He seems very opposed to Tom being shot, as he was a cripple. In the newspaper article he wrote he

The Concept Of Modernity, And Charles Baudelaire And Karl...
Modernity is the dynamic relationship between culture, polity, society and economy. Even though
each of these concepts of modernity are often followed in a relatively autonomous path of
development, these institutional realms is usually influenced by each other (Madsen, 2002). Two
modern philosophers who introduce the concept of modernity are Charles Baudelaire and Karl
Marx. On the one hand, Charles Baudelaire explores modernity through the notion of a strange
man. The strange man follows dandyism as a philosophy of lifeagainst uncertainty. Modernity is
described as a desired quality of dandyism, whose mysterious institution creates a new reality of
being (Baudelaire, 1995). On the other hand, Karl Marx identifies modernity in the rise of the
bourgeoisie epoch, suggesting a cosmopolitan freedom. Similarly to dandyism, cosmopolitan
freedom strives for the limitation of uncertainty and the creation of an insensitive reality (Marx
Engels,2008). However, modernity is condemned to failure since uncertainty is a part of human
nature. Therefore, uncertainty cannot be removed from the human condition. Nevertheless, this
discussion will argue that the real problem with modernity is its exploitation of freedom and its
misunderstanding around the concept of ambivalence. If modernity embraces intellectual
ambivalence, then humanity will find true freedom.
Charles Baudelaire explores the concept of modernity through the notion of a strange man

(http://www.hhs.gov/ocr/privacy/hipaa/understanding/srsummary.html) The health industry has become the most attractive targets for cyber criminals, because of the large volumes of protected health, personals, and financial data that are retained. • 3. Dunkin Donuts Vs Starbucks Persuasive Essay Opinion Article: Make the changes you think should be made. When you reach two o clock p.m. you immediately start to feel sleepy and very irritable. If it was the weekend you could easily go lay down and take a nap but when you re at school or running around at work you typically reach for the next best thing coffee. While there are various brands such as: Folgers, Maxwell House, and Chock Full O Nuts you can typically find everyone carrying a Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts cup. Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts are the top two competitors when it comes to coffee. I personally am caught between the two. On one hand, you have Starbucks, they have great tasting coffee but is very overpriced. Dunkin Donuts while doesn t have all the flavors Starbucks has, is less than half the price of Starbucks. The amount of money you pay for a small ice coffee in Starbucks you can get a large one at Dunkin Donuts. Which companiesnys coffee you purchase also depends on your location. If I was asked to pick either Dunkin Donuts or Starbucks, it would be impossible. There are certain factors that decide which company I will go with, too many to decide. It all depends on what mood I am in, what store is closest, and how much money I m willing to spend. They both have equally good coffee and both built a good name for themselves. • 4. The Rehabilitation Of Stroke Patients Brain Plasticity: How is This Evidenced from the Rehabilitation of Stroke Patients? The essay will look at brain plasticity in the context of brain injury, specifically that which occurs during a stroke and discuss how it is possible for regions of the brain to reconstruct to serve new functions, which were previously allocated to other regions in the brain. The effectiveness of the rehabilitation methods which use the idea of brain plasticity to help stroke patients regain previously lost functions, will also be considered. Brain plasticity is the ability of the brain to change and develop throughout life or with training. This occurs when the neurons make new connections and the brain reorganises. There are 3 main situations in which the brain changes: the beginning of life to organise itself, when you have brain injury, to compensate for damage caused, and then throughout adulthood as we learn new skills. Genetics only cause the brain to develop to a certain point, the rest of the brains development depends on life experiences. The brain is known as being plastic , it can mould to what is happening in our environment, be that drugs, hormones, relationships or diet. The developing brain is more sensitive to change than the older brain, and the same experience can have different effects on the brain at different ages. The brain is capable of reallocating brain functions to different areas and forming new connections between neurons. The two different types of plasticity ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Religious Beliefs, Traditions, Practices, Customs, And... Hinduism encompasses a vast sum of traditional religious beliefs, practices, customs, and so on of the Indian people (16). The faith is so deep in tradition, that its roots make it difficult to specifically define the religion. An important theme throughout Hinduism, however, is the understanding of the omnipresence of the divine in every alive being (17). The first way in which Semitic and Indian religions differ in origin is that 1) Semitic religions practice monotheism whereas Indian faiths practice polytheism. Secondly, 2) Semitic faiths are concerned with following the laws of Moses, of walking a straight moral path. Obedience to God s laws are essential and sins must be repented. Indian faiths did not originate with the same intent, and to an extent, they embrace the insufficiencies of man. They also differ in that 3) Semitic faiths abide closely to the laws of Moses; they do not question the morals and values placed in front of them. It is also very difficult to please God, as it requires the strength to resist temptations to sin. Indian faiths, however, question God, existence itself, and answers relating their place in the world. This open mindedness is encouraged, and it is relatively easy to be in good favor of the gods (21). Lastly, 4) there is a significant emphasis on nature in Indian religions. Whereas Semitic religions are focused on ethical preaching, the Indian are much more concerned with nature. The Vedic roots of the Indian religions were very focused ... At this point, foreign coverage of the demonstrations is commonplace, but Party members cannot agree on how to handle the situation. With students going back to their classes, the protesters didn t have any real leadership. Different factions did different things. Tension arose in the Communist Party while preparing for Soviet Party Secretary Mikhail Gorbachev s trip to Beijing. Xiaoping wanted to solve the protester situation peacefully, but at the same time, he wanted them out of the Square for Gorbachev s arrival. However, this would not be the case. On May 13, over 100 students in Tiananmen Square started a hunger strike in hopes for talks with the leaders of the Communist Party, knowing Gorbachev would arrive shortly. On May 15, Gorbachev arrived in Beijing. He was there for the first ever Sino Soviet summit since 1959, 30 years prior. By the day after he arrived, there were at least 3,000 people that joined the strike, which was humiliating to Gorbachev. Alfred Hitchcock was a film director and producer, who at times was also referred to as The Master of Suspense . He pioneered many elements of the suspense and psychological thriller genres. He had a successful career in British cinema with both silent films and early talkies and became renowned as England s best director. Hitchcock moved to Hollywood in 1939 and became a US citizen in 1955. The following essay, will, using the example of Alfred Hitchcock, discuss critically the contribution of the director to the patterns of themes and style in a group of films. Images of staircases often play a central role in Hitchcock s films. In Vertigo, the staircase in the church bell tower plays a crucial role in the plot. Scottie has Vertigo, and is afraid of heights. The Urban-Rural Culture Wars Of The 1920 s DBQ The urban rural culture wars of the 1920 s was due to myriad changes occurring in society, and partly in cause of a new generation, angered by the events of World War I, wanting to take a stand. Exposure to different types of culture in the 1920s varied on where one lived. In urban places, like bustling cities, one could find modernists. Modernists were more open minded and liberal in their thoughts. In other words, they obtained a new school way of thinking. Those in rural places who were not exposed to the always changing city life, were more likely to be traditionalists and focused on practices, values and views from the past. Furthermore, modernists, from the city, and traditionalists, from the countryside, did not see eye to eye. This issue resurfaced several times in major events of the 1920s. There are numerous documents that further exemplify the urban rural cultural divide in the 1920s. In document 1, an article written by Ku Klux Klan member H.W Evans, he wrote about the traditional American values fading and the ethical collapse the country was facing: we were dealing with strange ideas...[a] moral breakdown that has been going on for two decades. One by one all of our traditional moral standards went by the boards, or were so disregarded that they ceased to be binding...We found our great cities and the control of much of our industry and commerce taken over by strangers, who stacked the cards of success and prosperity against us (Document 1). • 13. Freud s Theory Of The Human Personality Freud s theory of the human personality consisted of 3 parts, the Id, Ego, and Superego. The Id is the inner child. Freud s Theory also separates the Id into two subcategories, Eros (the parent loving libido) and Thanatos (the self preservation instinct), also known as the life and death instincts, respectively. The Ego, or the I , is the self awareness part of the brain. This part takes into account reality and tries to compromise between Id and the real world. The Superego, or the above I applies moral principles to the Ego s solutions [McLeod, Id, Ego, Superego]. Many times this works, but sometimes these systems of judgment fail. This applies not only to people, but also to societies, as represented in The Crucible. The Id, as mentioned previously, is the need and want driven part of one s psyche. The girls who were pretending to be ailed and bewitched are the Id of the society, acting primarily upon Thanatos, their will to live and preserve their own lives. The power of the Id, combined with the Ego, but lacking the Superego, can be a powerful force to recon with, especially in ones so young. This is evident in the part of the play when Mary is testifying in court against the girls. At first Mary is trying to persevere against them, MARY: They re sporting...! GIRLS: (Cutting her off.) They re sporting! MARY: (Turning on them all, hysterically and stamping her feet.) Abby, stop it! GIRLS: (Stamping their feet.) Abby, stop it! [Miller, 48] Eventually, her Id ... There have been many recent cases coming from early releases and a lack of jail time served. Good behavior release is not appropriate because criminals receive too much time off just to commit the crime again; the proper solution would be to limit this on a federal level. A lenient judge makes it unfair to those who are properly sentenced because other get off with basically a slap on the wrist; making a minimum sentence for all who are found guilty of rape or murder would help keep it fair for everyone and ensure they serve a proper sentence. Letting criminals not serve jail time because of an insanity plea is just a way for them to avoid serving their time; if a person uses insanity defense, they should be required to get brain scans, and they should serve their jail time with a rehabilitation plan after they are let out. As it is best said in the Telegraph, rape victims receive life sentences for the crimes against them. Acquired immune processes include the body s adaptive response to antibiotics. ie when given the body makes specific antibodies to combat MRSA by destroying it s outer membrane. Antibiotics can be given orally or through injections. The main antibiotics used are vancomycin and rifampicin and they are most effective when used in combination. If it s used early then it can eradicate the infection within 48 hours. Moreover, as a preventative measure it may be given immediately after surgery (particularly invasive techniques.) Modulations of antibiotics policies alone do not ultimately eliminate MRSA from clinical settings. Thus, another method for the cytoxicity of MRSA is described by Von Eiff et al. They describe how S. Aureus can be killed in vitro by shock waves. They also suggest osmolyte stimulation of innate anti microbial defence systems and bacteriophhage therapy to eliminate the weaker strains of MRSA. Therefore, concentrate efforts on a narrower range of MRSA so MRSA as a whole is more likely to be significantly reduced if not eradicated completely. Other alternatives to anti biotics include surgery. This may be via thorough the excision of all infected tissue and bone (which is a compulsory procedure,) the management of dead space with packing or drains. However, anti biotics used in combination with surgery is often necessary for a more long term cure. On top of this the management of MRSA requires infection control, offloading, adequate vascularity, and meticulous wound care. A surgical option could be through maggot therapy. This is the debridement of necrotic tissue with sterile fly larvae and clinical trials suggest it is very effective in relation to MRSA. Maggots can provide a cost effective alternative to conventional treatments, but the therapy become very unpopular with the introduction of antibiotics. The reported lethality of severe S. agalactiae infections is ranging from 4 to 6% in the United States. Of note, it has been suggested that the incidence of neonatal disease is considerably greater than reported, because the requirement for positive cultures from blood or cerebrospinal fluid may underestimates the true burden of disease. Therefore, in this review I focused on virulence factors of S. agalactiae in order to elucidate aspects of the infection. S. agalactiae is frequently colonizes rectovaginal tract. Throughout the 19th century women had slowly been gaining voting privileges, but only in areas considered to be within their spheres such as the vote for school boards, the vote for poor law boards and the vote for county councils. Traditionally many historians have argued that the main reason for the enfranchisement of women in 1918 was their work during world war one. This view is being disputed on multiple levels; some argue that the war itself called for a rearrangement of the whole electoral system. Alternatively other historians argue that the work of the women s suffrageworkers such as the suffragist s and the suffragettes,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This caused public outrage and was seen to be completely unacceptable that young men were deemed ineligible to vote for the government of the country they had risked their lives fighting to protect. Bartley argues that due to the unjustness of this, the whole electoral system had to be rethought and this included women s rights. Although the war and women s efforts during the war were a significant factor in gaining the vote for women, the campaigning of the suffragist s has been argued to have been of more significance. The National Union of women s suffrage societies or the NUWSS aka the Suffragists was an association composed of mainly middle class women who were well educated and brought up believing in equal rights for women. The reason there were very few working class women in the NUWSS was because they were generally not supported by their husbands as working class men believed that women should remain below them and did not believe in equal rights. The leader of the NUWSS was Millicent Fawcett; a middle class woman, married to a lawyer and was brought up believing in equal rights. Determining the Energy Requirements of an Individual The determination of patients energy needs is important in the clinical practice since the balance between energy intake and expenditure has important implications to the patient s health, as well as underfeeding and overfeeding. However, identifying the patients energy expenditure and designing adequate nutritional support for them can be a task, and measurements and estimative calculations are currently used in the clinical setting for this purpose1,2. Determining the energyrequirements of an individual may be difficult since many factors are involved such as age, gender, body composition, physical activity, nutritional status, illness and the goals of the nutritional treatment. As there are no methods which could involve all these factors, dietitians have to be careful and carry a clinical judgement when determining these requirementsВі. Energy expenditure is characterized by the number of kcal used by the human body per day. In healthy individuals, energy expenditure can be divided into basal metabolic rate (BMR), thermic effect of food and physical activity. Ever since the late 1980s there had been many promises and plans to shape up airport security, but according to experts there has been little, if any, real improvement in public safety since that time (Morris 28). Its obvious to assume that because of the lack of improvement, great tragedy struck our nation on September 11th. The recent studies explored the association between self esteem and the posting of self photographs on a social media networking site such as Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook. Social media arenas have become strikingly popular in the past decade serving the varied communicative intentions. Despite the accelerated rise in social media networking industry, the research has been passive to study the behavior on social media such as self photography which has been a general issue of conversation in day to day life. One of the big questioning is about what one s behavior on social media might express his or her personality traits. Self esteem and narcissism have frequently been considered as crucial awareness in the growth of selfie industry (Cosima, 2016; Mirshak, 2016). The Paradigm Shift in Consumption The Paradigm Shift in Consumption: The New Food Equation Consumer behaviors are constantly changing, as can be seen with the recent trends of obesity in the global north and hunger and malnutrition in the global south. Understanding global food systems is very important as it helps explain opportunities and well as problems that exist in the current global food system. In 1950 s and 60 s an industrial food formula, was created in order to take strides towards delivering ample, affordable, healthy and safe food in the global North (Roberts, 2013). This Industrial formula has not lived up to its standards however and has caused some disappointment. Scout describes the atmosphere in the courtroom like this: The feeling grew until the atmosphere in the court room was exactly the same as a cold February morning, when the mockingbirds were still and the carpenters had stopped hammering on miss Maudie s new house. I think that when Scout talks about the atmosphere being like a cold February morning she is describing the tension in the room. When everyone is still and silent. They have been regarded as mockingbirds because both Atticus and Tom are innocent characters that have done nothing wrong. • 54. The Concept Of Modernity, And Charles Baudelaire And Karl... Modernity is the dynamic relationship between culture, polity, society and economy. Even though each of these concepts of modernity are often followed in a relatively autonomous path of development, these institutional realms is usually influenced by each other (Madsen, 2002). Two modern philosophers who introduce the concept of modernity are Charles Baudelaire and Karl Marx. On the one hand, Charles Baudelaire explores modernity through the notion of a strange man. The strange man follows dandyism as a philosophy of lifeagainst uncertainty. On the other hand, Karl Marx identifies modernity in the rise of the bourgeoisie epoch, suggesting a cosmopolitan freedom. Similarly to dandyism, cosmopolitan freedom strives for the limitation of uncertainty and the creation of an insensitive reality (Marx Engels,2008). However, modernity is condemned to failure since uncertainty is a part of human nature. Therefore, uncertainty cannot be removed from the human condition. Nevertheless, this discussion will argue that the real problem with modernity is its exploitation of freedom and its misunderstanding around the concept of ambivalence. If modernity embraces intellectual ambivalence, then humanity will find true freedom. Charles Baudelaire explores the concept of modernity through the notion of a strange man (Baudelaire, 1995, p.5).
