My Memories Of My Early Years
I have very few recollections of my early years and at what exact age I was able to
read and write. Some of my earliest memories are vague on the topic of my literacy.
However, I do remember small memories, such as, learning how to write my name in
cursive, winning prizes for reading, and crying over every assigned high schoolessay.
Over the last twelve years my literacy has grown rapidly with the help of teachers,
large school libraries, my family, and so on. There is always room for my literacy
skills to grow, but my family s help and positive attitude towards my education, the
school systems I have been a part of, and the horrible required essays from high
school helped me obtain the level, skills, habits, and processes that I use as part of
my literacy today. I was raised up in a family that loved to read and write, like my
sister who published a children s book while she was in just middle school; she
also wrote other stories that were loved my her teachers. My parents have
continuously pushed me and my siblings to read above our grade levels, study
writing during the summer, and never listen to when other kids or adult titled us as
stupid . This positive drive really aided me when I was a little and even endures on
today.
The positive push when I was little made me want to be the very best in my class and
a little bit of a show off. My earliest memory of learning to read or write goes all the
way back to when I was around seven years old, and in elementary school on
Case Study Of Air Southwest Airlines
On March 15, 1967 Herbert David Kelleher co founded Air Southwest Co.
incorporated. The year of 1971 was a game changer as Lamar Muse joined Air
Southwest as President and Air Southwest changed its name to Southwest Co. The
mission and vision of Air Southwest during this time was to eliminate unnecessary
services and to utilize secondary airports in order to offer the lowest fares in the
industry. Fast forward to 2016 and Herb has stepped down as the chairman for
Southwest, the mission however is still the same, dedication to provide the highest
level of customer while delivering a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride,
and Company Spirit. Which embodies the values Southwest has exhibited for years
and that s to live the Southwest Way, to have a warrior spirit, a servant s heart, a fun

Completing such as task will require cultivation of talents and to preserve its business
culture. Expanding Southwest Airlines to accommodate AirTran means discussing the
strengths, weakness, opportunities, and threats regarding the expansion of such a
sizable merger. Lastly, a merger of this magnitude will require recruiting and hiring to
address the expansion level impact and minimize error.
SWOT Analysis
A SWOT analysis is a calculated planning technique that allows a business the ability
to understand what it s doing right and how to make things better in order to move
forward successfully. Based on this technique the SWOT analysis embodies making
stronger objectives and decisions in which to achieve. Strengths and weaknesses are
internal factors and are things that can be controlled. Opportunities and threats are
external factors that cannot be controlled. The key assessment of the SWOT analysis
for Southwest and AirTran are:
Rationalizing Rejection in Sonnet 42
Sonnet 42: Rationalizing Rejection
Shakespeare s Sonnet 42 is about a man, the speaker, who is contemplating the loss
of his lover to his friend. The speaker is exploring the motive for his lover s choice of
betrayal; more notably he is attempting to explain why this betrayal has occurred
with a series of different rationalizations. The speaker appears to believe that he will
not be as pained by his loss if he were to rationalize why his lover betrayed him.
Shakespeare notoriously wrote three separate types of sonnets. The first set is
Sonnets 1 126 which discuss a young man and often deal with the element of time.
Sonnet 42 falls into the young man category and this character is present as the
speaker s friend.
The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This rationalization has several flaws. First, the speaker shows a contradiction in
line 5; the speaker calls his betrayers, loving offenders yet says he will excuse the
sinners. This is a contradiction since he makes it a point to call them offenders while
forgiving them in the same line.
Line 6 in the second quatrain is the thesis of the speaker s second attempt to
rationalize and shows yet another contradiction. The form of this line does not match
with the rest of the sonnet in its iambic pentameter form. Shakespeare uses this
particular form to set the line apart from the rest of the sonnet. The line s emphasis
is on the fact that the young man only desires the speaker s lover because he knew
the speaker loved her as well. This has a double meaning which may be why
Shakespeare intended for it to stand out from the rest of the sonnet. First, the
meaning could be just as it reads; this is most likely the true motivation the young
man had to in seeking the lover in order to take her away from the speaker. Yet, the
speaker attempts to excuse the young man s behavior by giving a second meaning
to the line saying in lines 7 and 8 that the betrayal was done for his own sake in
order to test the lover s faithfulness. This rationale is flawed here because in the event
that the
What Is Equality In Susan B Anthony s Speech
From a young age, American students are able to comprehend the idea that our nation
s success tends to center around the equality of the people. History classes have
taught us that the less discrimination in this world, the easier a country can succeed.
Although the nation continues to fight the war of inequality between its citizens
through endless protests and movements, the nation itself has promised equality to all
minorities no matter their color or gender. With new laws added to the Bill of Rights,
the United Stateshave been able to resolve government issues regarding civil liberties
such as freedom of speech, voting regulations and female restrictions that have
haunted us from our American past.
Voting, in this day and age, is easily taken for granted by most. When Susan B.
Anthony gave her speech in 1873 in the hope of the country bettering their laws to
comply with the female population, she knew the nation s laws complied most with
the white male citizens (Source E) of the country. Knowing that mistreatment in
society was something shared between minorities, Anthony called out the group of
people that were treated better than anyone. When speaking to her audience, Anthony
uses ethos in her speech in order to make her point clear that withholding women s
civil liberties is wrong. Being a woman in 1873, Anthony faced discrimination in her
everyday life; for this reason, she chose to focus on changing not only the country s
social discrimination, but also it s
My Trip to Saint Petersburg Dali Museum
For our assigned cultural exposure I chose to visit the Saint Petersburg Dali
Museum. I drove over on a windy day across the causeway in a Jeep that is less
than running well, so by the time I found the museum I was a bit relieved. I had
wanted to go to the Museum since moving here in early 2011 but have just never
made the time. I lived in southern Spain for several years and one of the few regrets
I have from my time there is that I never made it to the museum there.
Upon my arrival and paying my admission fee I was informed that there was a
guided tour about to begin. I hurried up the stairs and filled in the back of the pack.
There are about 30 35 other patrons there as well. The guide starts with a brief
history of Dali s early life growing up in southeastern Spain, the death of his mother
and his fathers remarrying of Dali s aunt (which he commemorated in a painting), to
his marring to the Famous Gala. The guide then informed us that it was Gala who
helped to manage Dali s career acting as his agent. Not only was his love for Gala
shown in his art but also her tenacity reflected in several of the pieces on display
featuring her.
Several of the paintings on display this year either in the Morse Family collection
or on loan to the museum were discussed on the tour to included a painting Dali did
about the age of 15 after his mothers passing and his fathers marring his deceased
wife s sister. The painting was done to commemorate the occasion and even at 15 his

The Grey Zone Analysis
Initially, it may seem as though right and wrong are starkly divided, such as the
colors black and white are starkly opposite. Despite this conviction, I ve grown to
understand that strictly categorizing these entities are of inept and inconsiderate
nature. Similar to how most articles in the world are neither black, nor white, most
ideas, motives, and tangible and intangible objects fall in between the classifications
of right and wrong. Appropriately labeled the grey zone , actions that challenge the
implemented structure of moralityconflict the subjective judgement. When the
situations of doing the wrong thing for the right reasons and doing the right thing for
the wrong reasons arise, I must elect that there are circumstances in which the former
is acceptable and justifiable.
Each individual holds different beliefs of what is right and what is wrong, but I
disagree with Kant on several aspects of morality and ethics. It is a universal virtue to
never lie and to always speak the truth, but modern pop culture reveres heroes who
defy this rule. Take into account Albus Dumbledore from the Harry Potter series; a
literary hero, yet a liar in context. He ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Strict observance entails recognizing no circumstances in which homicide is
rational and defensible. But the questions remain: what if it were done to prevent
further deaths? What if it were to protect an individual from further harm? In spite
of such a law, George kills Lennie in Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men . This act may
strike an ethical discord, but George s motives behind his case were out of mercy
for Lennie s plight. A mob of angry farmers hunted and pursued Lennie after he had
accidentally killed the wife of one of the farmers. Knowing this, George took it upon
himself to spare Lennie from inevitable torment and a painful death. Murder is
wrong, but once motives and circumstances are accounted for, the line between moral
and immoral
Music and Cultural Identity
Some may say music is just music; a song is just a song. However, music plays an
enormous role in our psychology, because a single song has the ability to bring about
many kinds of thoughts and emotions in the listener. Music is subtly one of the main
factors in which people identify with certain groups and establish their belonging in
society. It shapes people s perspectives on how the world functions and the roles they
play within it. Musiccan function the same way in a culture; it can reflect many of the
cultures values and ideologies. Music can have many effects on culture and the
people s idea of who they think they are within that culture. Music can serve in a way
that promotes cultural identity and pride, yet it could also play a... Show more content

Their sense of belongingness gives the people pride, because the songs embody the
rich history, culture, and values of Mexico. As a result, people in in Mexican
communities are able to proudly identify themselves as Mexicans. With a vast amount
of culturally proud people, Mexican culture will ultimately be kept alive.
Music can also be a differentiating factor for social and economic classes. In lecture
twelve (Roma music), the clear distinction between the romungre and vlachs musicals
groups proved that music influenced this separation. The types of instruments used,
or lack of, tell of the people s standing in the social and economic ladders. For
instance, romungre music is professional, urban, and was played in elaborate
settings. In the video excerpt shown during lecture, the well dressed man played the
violin, while the other members played other various instruments such as the
cimbalom and piano. The possession of the various instruments is clear evidence that
the people in that community have extra money to spend on these luxurious items. In
addition to the aesthetics of the performance, the sounds produced by these
instruments also suggest a level of sophistication and class. The song began with a
sow tempo, which offers a smooth timbre. The tempo then sped up, which showed
the virtuosity of performers, suggesting the affluence of the performers, because he

What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of
Introducing...
The euro was introduced as a single currency as it offered many advantages over the
previous situation where each European country had its own currency. One of the
main objectives of introducing the euro was to strengthen relations between member
states. The idea, rather a simple one, if you get countries to trade with each other
then they are a lot less likely to go to war. It seems a legitimate reason, as Western
Europe has been at peace now for nearly seventy years and counting.
To explain a little more about the history of introducing the euro, throughout the
1960s on to the 1980s the EEC helped break down cultural barriers between
European countries. This resulted in a boom , and people form the Western Countries
became richer than ever ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One downside is that the interest rates set by the ECB may not be suitable for the
whole Eurozone. It may be unsuitable for countries that are growing much faster or
slower than the Eurozone average. In, 2011, the ECB increased inflation rates because
of fears of inflation in Germany, however during the same time, southern Eurozone
countries were heading for recession because the interest rates set were unsuitable for
countries such as Portugal Greece and Italy.
There is also a lack of incentives being apart of the Eurozone as it is argued being a
member protects a country form currency crisis. Therefore, there is less of an
incentive for countries to implement structural reform and fiscal responsibility. For
example, in good times Greece was able to benefit from very low bond yields on
its debt because people thought that the Greek debt would be taken and secured by
the rest of Europe, but this wasn t the case and Greece fell victim to a false sense of
security.
Also the Eurozone is not an optimal currency area due to language barriers. For
example if a state in the New York was facing a recession workers could easily
move to New England to get a job, however in the Eurozone this is much more
difficult. There are a lot more barriers to the movement of labour and capital in
Europe. An unemployed Greek cannot easily move to
The Nature Of Freedom By Jacques Derrida
In The Politics of Friendship, Jacques Derrida boldly declares: no deconstruction
without democracy, no democracy without deconstruction. Accordingly, this
democracy to come could not exist without some semblance of freedom. This
deconstructive form of freedom is certainly not an individual freedom to do as one
pleases, nor is it simply freedom from constraint. The freedom which constitutes
deconstructionis aporetic in nature, thus making it difficult (or rather impossible)
to give a straightforward definition. However, this lack of a definition for freedom
is not a problem for Derrida. In fact, the undefinable nature of freedom is the
condition for its existence. If a full definition of freedom were to be given, its
ability to thrive would be crushed. However, this does not mean that discussions
regarding the nature of freedom are without meaning. In discussing what freedom
could be, what freedom could mean, one can better understand how to maximize
freedom in both societies and our individual lives. To recognize the tension that lies
within the word freedom is to better understand what its existence could actually
entail. During an interview in 2001, Derrida stated the following regarding his
suspicion towards Freedom : In my opinion, the most free thought is one that is
constantly coming to terms with the effects of the machine. That s why I rarely use
the word freedom in the way I know you do ... I will fight for specific freedoms, but I
will not calmly speak
No Kill Shelter Research Paper
Chapter #3 Kill Shelters vs. No Kill and Low Kill
Shelters
No Kill Shelters No Kill Shelters are very different from Kill and Low Kill
Shelters. For example, Maddie s Fund wrote that no kill shelters save all healthy and
treatable dogs and cats. They will even keep the animal until it gets adopted. Around
7.6 million dogs and cats are sent to an animal shelter every year. But only 4.9
animals are saved mostly by no kill shelters. However, if the animal is unhealthy or
untreatable, they will put it down. Also, they only take in animals that are adoptable.
Pet360 stated, They do not accept animals without appointments and have a very
thorough screening process. Additionally, these shelters often will not accept animals
over a certain age, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First of all, they limit how much time an animal has to get adopted. According to an
article, To clarify, there are some shelters that will let an animal stay for two weeks
before euthanizing it. Others give only 3 days. According to research, some shelters
may give an animal 3 days, then an additional 7, should the owner come looking for
the animal. Meanwhile, other shelters may give the animals a few months, a few
weeks, a few days, or even just an hour. This shows how these shelters don t care
about finding homes for these homeless animals. Furthermore, kill shelters use
excuses for murdering the innocent little animals. An article said they use excuses
like We don t have enough room, we don t have enough money to keep them alive,
or they aren t young or cute enough and nobody will want to adopt them. Every
year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because there isn t
enough room. As you can see, these shelters don t even think these animals are
worthy of being alive. Lastly, research told how kill shelters send out little to no
notice of advertisement for the animals. The only advertisement that some kill
shelters send out is a death row which tells adopters that they are about to kill some
animals, so they need to come adopt one before it s too late. In other words, kill
shelters don t give much effort in encouraging people to adopt an animal. Kill shelters
are the most harsh shelters of them
Enron and Parmalat

ENRON
Background
In 1985 Kenneth Lay merged his company, Houston Natural Gas, with Nebraska s
InterNorth to create the Enron; a company to be the biggest natural gass corporation
to exist in the U.S. During the 1980 s, under the presidency of Ronald Raegan, there
was a considerable lack of regulations regarding the energy markets, thus allowing the
company to buy and sell contracts for a delivery at some time in the future.
By 1990 Jeffery Skilling joined as a former consultant, eventually to become Enron s
COO (Chief Operating Officer). His participation encouraged the incentive of making
the company more focused for contracts for delivery of energy as well as change

Parmalat s strategy at this point relied on building a network of off shore mail box
companies so that the company could conceal the losses, being the largest bond
players Bank of America, J.P. Morgan and Citicorp. Basically these banks had the
notion that these bonds were sound financial paper where in fact they were absolutely
nothing. (Claudio Celani, 2004)
Claudio Celani suggests in his article that what strikes one is not only the
dimension of the scheme, but the arrogance of its authors. For instance, one of the
offshore mail box firms used to channel the liquidity coming from the bond sales
was called Bucanero, which means black hole ! Appropriately, the first class action
suit in the United States on the Parmalat case, filed by the South Alaskan miners
Pension Fund, is against Parmalat, its auditors, Bank of America, and Citicorp and
focuses on Bucanero It was later found out in 2003 that the company concealed a
sum of $14 bn black hole , as Celani suggests, in its finances. (Claudio Celani, 2004)
For the next years to come there was a marathon of court cases on both continents
(American and European), and so it was discovered that nearly €4bn of funds in a
Bank of America account did not exist. Though the firm admitted to have a certain
amount of debts it was later seen in 2004 that it had in fact about €14.3bn (actually
being 4 times the amount suggested). In turn , by 2008 Fausto Tonna is

There where accounts that had the same debit and credit amounts just a few days

end of the previous quarters there was not a high amount of sales which leads one
to think that the sales were booked at the end of the year to make the company
meet their goal. There was also a high number of invoices with no bill of landing.
With a high number of no bill of landings, false billing is presumed. With a bill of
landing of a lesser weigh than that which was invoiced, leads to the full order not
being shipped, and over charging of the customer or that special arrangements have
been made with the customer to receive a discount for early billing. There was also
5 times where invoices where invoiced before they were shipped. This leds to the
fact that sales where most likely
Filibuster Reform Case Study
The United States Congress is often described with two words: unproductive and
unpopular. As Congress s approval ratings continue to plummet it has become
evident that gridlock plays a major role in voter s feelings towards congressional
productivity. Many voters are beginning to worry that Congress is more broken
than ever due to the fact that it seems as if it is no longer able to make even the
smallest bipartisan decisions (Binder, 2013). Congress is appearing to seem
dysfunctional to the public eye in regard to Congressional responses to many issues
including health care and immigration (Todd et al., 2013). Growing partisanship and
inability to compromise is seemingly the cause of the ineffectiveness of Congress.

The filibuster has a major impact on the efficiency of Congress and is something
that could be changed in order to improve Congressional efficiency. Currently, a
supermajority of sixty votes is required to end a filibuster, but if a lower number
such as forty one votes was required, forty one votes would also be required to
maintain a filibuster. This would mean that Congressional members would have less
of a chance to hinder the ability of the legislative body to move forward on
important legislation. This would improve public perception of the legislative
process and likely increase Congressional approval ratings. In addition to lessening
the number of votes required to end a filibuster, Congress could increase productivity
by ending the filibuster on the motion to proceed. This would limit debate on a
motion to two hours, which would be divided equally between the two parties (Staff,
2014). This would eliminate the practice of an overabundance of prior floor debate
altogether and cap the amount of time spent debating the motion to proceed. The
filibuster recent years has become a routine parliamentary maneuver rather than the
rare occurrence that it once
Summary Of The Movie Black Robe
The movie Black Robe serves as a perfect example of the middle ground that existed
between the Algonquian Indians and the French colonists. Throughout the movie,
there are numerous depictions of the cohabitation between the two groups. Using the
movie, Black Robe, the following question will be answered through examples
presented in the movie; how does the film portray the middle ground between the
Algonquian Indians and the French colonists?
The movie itself was confusing at first in the beginning, however, it became easier to
follow as the plot progressed. The concept of a middle ground came about when the
French colonists came to America and encountered the Algonquian Indians. Both
groups of people lived together and shared aspects of their culture with one another.
For example, the French colonists learned the native language of the Indian people,
and the Indians learned French. The movie opens with the fur trade. The fur trade
showed a give and take relationship among the Algonquians and the French. The
Algonquians would help hunt and skin the animals, in exchange, the French would
give them whatever they needed. Another example of this give and take relationship
occurs during the beginning of the movie, where a group of Indians led by Chomina
escort Black Robe and David to the Huron Mission. One of the Indians makes a
comment to Black Robe that since they had paddled so hard that they should be given
something, specifically tobacco. To ensure that the

Goal blood pressures are separated by age and presence of chronic disease. The

patients under 60 is 140 mmHg and DBP 90 mmHg. Different goal values are
presented for patients with chronic conditions. Treatment with medication is

What Is Helen s Role In Jane Eyre
Helen Burns s memorable, albeit short lived role in Jane Eyre proves to be
incredibly influential on young Jane during the rest of the novel. Helen serves as
Jane s first direct interaction with strong faith in someone her own age. Helen
embodies an incredibly passive faith, believing that she will be rewarded in heaven
for her sufferingon Earth. She goes as far to say, ...do good to them that hate you and
despitefully use you (Bronte 70). And being a student at Lowood, the boarding school
where Jane first makes her acquaintance, she is quite familiar with suffering. All of
the students, in fact, are familiar with the sacrifice and self deprivation present in
many aspects of their life, such as their diet of burned porridge and strange... Show

Helen was designed to show the struggles of the many people who lived in such
conditions that their greatest wish was to be in heaven. They had abandoned hope of
improving their social class and rather sought to remain as faithful as possible.
Helen s quiet, almost angelic, piety was a symbol to those people of strength and
sacrifice. Her death especially proved her strength as well as solidifying her
connection to Maria. Helen, through the mix of these two things, became a
combination of tragedy as well as victory, a memory of her sister and inspiration to

Blackwood Vs Holmes
ВЁ You see, but you do not observe. The distinction is clear. this quote from A
Scandal in Bohemia shows that some people do not observe, they just look at the
obvious. All the clues and hint that are in the movies and stories that the villains have
left , Watson just looks at everything around him unlike Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock
Holmes is able to identify who the culprit is throughout the short stories and the films
that we watched in class. Both of these movies, Sherlock Holmes and The Great
Mouse Detective, have antagonists that are represented in different ways.
In the movie Sherlock Holmes the villain is named Blackwood and in The Great
Mouse Detective the villain is Professor Ratigan. In all of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle
s stories there is always a villain or a suspect. Blackwood in the film Sherlock
Holmes and Professor Ratigan in The Great Mouse Detective were both out to
achieve a similar goal . Both of the characters in these movies have similarities, but
both of the characters also have differences as well. While Blackwood in Sherlock
Holmes is a human, Ratigan is a rat in The Great Mouse Detective. The two
characters have goals during the films that want to achieve. The films the villains have

Blackwood s archenemy was Sherlock Holmes and Ratigan s was Basil of Baker
Street. The antagonists were similar because they both represented Sherlock

Although both arch enemies represented Sherlock Holmes, they both have their
different ways of finding their opponents. Basil from Baker Street in The Great
Mouse Detective is trying to find where Ratigan is, but Ratigan stays in one place the
whole movie. Sherlock Holmes has to travel all over London to try and find
Blackwood because he kills people in specific spots every
The Yellow River And The Chinese Nation
The Yellow River is located in Qinghai, China. In the present day it is not very
dense in population. It is a very high altitude called the Tibetan Plateau. It is place
of strong Tibetan and Mongol cultural traditions in present day China. The Yellow
River is known by all Chinese people as the mother river (Wu). It is also agreed
upon by almost all Chinese people that it is the cradle of Chinese civilization and the
spiritual home of the Chinese people (Zhou). The Yellow Riveris the symbol of the
Chinese nation, the spirt of the Chinese people, but most importantly civilization
itself. The Yellow River gets its name from the yellowish color of the water. The
water is yellow because each year over 1.6 billion tons of soil flows into the river,
which causes the rise and shifting of the river bed (Wu). Before the damming of
the river it was extremely prone to flooding which in turn caused millions of
deaths. The Yellow River flooding is responsible for the deadliest disaster in
human history. It is said the river had changed course twenty six times between
608 BC and 1938 AD and flooded of fifteen hundred times (Wu). The Yellow River
is not what is used be unfortunately. With the decrease in rainfall in the Yellow
River Basin and also increasing water demands for irrigation purposes the river has
dried up annually since 1972. The longest it ever ran dry was in 1997 for 226 days
(Wu). These annual droughts have brought many challenges to the regions agriculture

Metaphor In The Yellow Wallpaper
In The Yellow wallpaper , the wallpaper is a metaphor that expresses women s
protest against the repression of the society and their personal identity at the rise of
feminism. During the Victorian era, women were kept down and kept in line by their
married men and other men close to them. The Yellow Wallpaper , written By
Charlotte Perkins Gilman, is a tale of a woman, her mental difficulties and her
husband s so called therapeutic treatment rest cure of her misery during the late
1800s. The tale starts out in the summer with a young woman and her husband
travelling for the healing powers of being out from writing, which only appears to
aggravate her condition. His delusion gets Jane (protagonist), trapped in a room, shut
up in a bed making her go psychotic. As the tale opens, she begins to imagine a
woman inside the yellow wallpaper.
The Yellow Wallpaper, is a larger than life version of Charlotte Perkins Gilman s
own personal experiences. She grieved for several years in depression, as her
physician diagnosed her with neurasthenia and prescribed the rest cure seen in the
story. Unable to write or seek company, Gilman s rest drove her insane for three
months. Gilman wrote the story not simply to change one man s view of
neurasthenia, but to utilize the floor as a symbol of the oppression of women in a
patriarchal society as mentioned in her article Why I Wrote The Yellow Wallpaper .
During the Victorian era, men demarcated women s roles. A woman was believed
Informative Speech On Placebo Effect
Placebo Effect Mind Over Matter?
Introduction
I.I first came across the word placebo long before I went into medical school, while I
was watching a popular medical fictional television show, House M.D.
A.The main character, Dr. House had a thigh infarction before, and ever since was
addicted to Vicodin, a painkiller. He consumed painkiller a lot, even while doing his
job hence worrying his boss, Dr. Lisa who eventually forbid him from taking them.
B.When House complained that he cannot perform a surgery due to the pain he had,
Lisa gave House what she claimed as morphine, also a form of painkiller when she
was actually giving him saline solution, a pure salt solution with no active ingredient.
House went on and did the surgery as he felt no pain.
C.After performing the surgery, House later asked Lisa for more morphine... Show

When I entered medical school, I came across the world placebo again in our syllabus.
III.Hence, I did an additional research regarding placebo to understand it more.
V.Today, I would like to inform you how this placebo effect works as a medication.
(Transition: Let s start with what placebo is and how it works)
Body
I.Placebo effect is triggered by the person s belief in the treatment and their
expectation offeeling better, rather than the specific form the placebo takes.
A.A survey from University of Oxford and the University of Southampton found that
97% of doctors in United Kingdom admitted on prescribing an impure placebo at
some point during their career, while 10% had prescribed pure placebos.
1. Pure placebos are treatments containing no active ingredients meanwhile impure
placebos are treatments that contain active ingredients but are not recommended for
the condition being treated.
2.Sugar pill, injections, devices, procedures or even just a doctor telling patients
they would be better are all several forms of placebo
3. Society of Neuroscience reported one in three patients report feeling better after

Informative Speech About Hiccups
Picture this! You are on your second or third date with a guy or girl you really like.
At the end of the date everything seems perfect. The two of you are saying
goodnight and you know he or she is about to kiss you. Finally, when they move in
for the kill...HICCUP!!! I am sure at this point you are now recalling your own
embarrassing moments when hiccups came at the wrong time and wrong place.
Not only are you reenacting this scenario in your mind, but now you are beginning
to wonder, What are hiccups anyway? We have all experienced them at some point
in our life, and no one has been exempt from them. They are like unwelcome
guests, they come into your house without knocking or warning, they eat
everything in your fridge, hog the T.V. for hours on end, take a long nap on our
couch, and then finally decide they have worn out their welcome and should
probably head home. I have always wondered to myself what exactly caused these
annoyances and how could I just get rid of them. That is what led me to research
this topic and do my speech on it today. For the next 5 or 6 minutes I am going to
give you the definition of hiccups, explain the two different types of hiccups, show
you the causes of hiccups, and discuss some cures you can try next time you have the
hiccups.

Warriors Don t Cry By Melba Pattillo Beals
On May 17th, 1954, the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Brown v. Board of
Education of Topeka, Kansas, officially making the separation of blacks and whites in
public schools unconstitutional (Beals 12). This ultimately led to a constant struggle
in the South to keep schools segregated. The most notable situation occurred in the
town of Little Rock, Arkansas during the 1957 school year. Nine black students
volunteered to integrate into Central High. This constant struggle to turn the
Supreme Court ruling into a societal norm was documented by one of the Little Rock
Nine. Melba Pattillo Beals s novel, Warriors Don t Cry, depicts the forces in favor of
integration, forces opposing integration, and the constant adversity faced by the Little
Rock Nine.
The multiple forces in favor of integration were determined to gain access to Central
High School and integrate public schools in the south. Before any integration was
possible in the United States, the NAACP, or the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People, was forced to file a lawsuit in the Federal District
Court to integrate public schools immediately due to the public and state backlash
towards integration (Beals 20). Judge Ronald Davies declared that Governor Faubus
had thwarted the court approved plan of integration furthering the movement to
integrate Central High (Beals 68). After the lawsuit was settled, the Little Rock Nine
was scheduled to integrate into Central High School. However, even after these

enormous quake in the ocean, just 50km away from where Bob was working. Bob

rolling down the nearby hills and car alarms going off. After about five minutes,
there was an aftershock that inflicted more damage to the planet. The building that
Bob was working at had come tumbling down from the aftershock. Sadly, he had
been cleaning up a nuclear power plant that day and was standing right in front of
the reactor! Right after the aftershock, the wall cracked, revealing the core of the

The Impact Of The Northwest Ordinance Of 1787
Throughout the course of United States history, there have been multiple occurrences
in which influenced and impacted the United States as it is today. Since the
colonization of the colonies, the United States has proven to have improved its nation
through many acts, movements, political persons, and governmental theories.
However; the Northwest Ordinanceof 1787, the creation of the Erie Canal, Henry
Clay s American System , the Fugitive Slave Act, and the Emancipation Proclamation
were all specific occurrences and events that impacted the development of the United
Statespolitically and economically.
The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was an important occurrence that effected the
United States politically and economically because it was one of the first
movements that introduced the abolition or freedom of slaves. The Northwest
Ordinance of 1787 was a land act that provided for orderly settlement and established
a process by which settles territories would become the states of Ohio, Illinois,
Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It therefore banned the slavery in these Northwest
Territories. Furthermore, this Ordinance prohibited slavery and ear marked funds
from land sales for the support of schools. The land ordinances of the 1780s were a
great and enduring achievement of the Confederation Congress. It therefore provided
for an orderly settlement and the admission of new states based on equality; there
would be no politically dependent colonies in the West. The Northwest
Reflective Journal Number Two Essay
Reflective Journal Number Two
I am going to look back at a situation on my unit in the operating room (OR) where I
implemented a change using some of the distinguishing characteristics authentic
leaders posses according to Maria Shirey in 2006. I have worked in the OR for 13
years and have witnessed many changes take place, both good and bad. Our
situation was unique because staffing coverage must be 24 hours due to our level 1
trauma status. The RN s brought forward the current system used for scheduling
during holidays was unfair with no apparent pattern. It was very random with many
of the same RN s working the majority of the holidays. Nurses comments ranged
from, Why am I always on the major holidays, I never get to spend the holidays with
my family, and the same people are getting the holidays off, why is that?
Management overlooked the fairness for covering the schedule. Holiday coverage is
reduced to two teams and a charge nurse which consists of five staff members,
allowing more staff to be off. Everything was status quo to management until it was
mentioned at a staff meeting with much dissatisfaction.
I was asked by my manager to lead a committee of RN s. She chose the staff to
participate on this committee. The goal was to propose a new system for holiday
scheduling that was fair and systematic. My leader was empowering her staff to
make positive changes; she was encouraging creativity by motivating her followers

Comanche Indians
COMANCHE INDIANS
The Comanches, exceptional horsemen who dominated the Southern Plains, played a
prominent role in Texas frontier history throughout much of the eighteenth and
nineteenth centuries. Anthropological evidence indicates that they were originally a
mountain tribe, a branch of the Northern Shoshones, who roamed the Great Basin
region of the western United States as crudely equipped hunters and gatherers. Both
cultural and linguistic similarities confirm the Comanches Shoshone origins. The
Comanche language is derived from the Uto Aztecan linguistic family and is virtually
identical to the language of the Northern Shoshones. Sometime during the late
seventeenth century, the Comanches acquired horses, and that acquisition ... Show

Because of their skills as trades, the Comanches controlled much of the commerce of
the Southern Plains. They bartered buffalo products, horses, and captives for
manufactured items and foodstuffs.
SHELTER
The familiar Plains В– type teepee constructed of tan buffalo hide stretched over
sixteen to eighteen lodge poles provided portable shelter for the Comanches.
CLOTHING
Their clothing, made of Bison hide or Buckskin, consisted of breechcloth, leggings,
and moccasins for men, and fringed skirt, poncho style blouse, leggings, and
moccasins for women. Buffalo robes provided protection from cold weather.
TRANSPORTATION
However, it was the horse that most clearly defined the Comanche way of life. It
gave them mobility to follow the buffalo herds and the advantage of hunting and
conducting warfare from horseback. Horses also became a measure of Comanche
wealth and a valuable trade commodity. In horsemanship, the Comanches had no
equal. Children learned to ride at an early age, and both men and women developed
exceptional equestrian skills.
GORVERNMENT
Democratic principle was strongly implanted in Comanche political organization.
Each tribal division had both civil or peace chiefs and war chiefs, but traditionally the
head civil chief was most influential. Leaders gained their positions through
For The Majority Of People, It Is Understood Before High
For the majority of people, it is understood before high school what the difference
between sex and gender is. Sex refers to the biological differences at birth amongst
males and females, but in today s society the definition of gender is not so black and
white. While the dictionary still incorrectly defines genderas, the properties that
distinguish organisms on the basis of their reproductive roles the current meaning
and proper definition of the word gender has evolved ( Gender ). Breaking free from
the constraints placed by society and the obsolete dictionary definition, this word has
expanded and taken on an entirely new meaning that appropriately corresponds with
the way it is presently being used and interpreted. The definition... Show more content

An example of how Americans see gender today is laid out perfectly by Caitlin
Ryan, a social worker at San Francisco University, when she explains, This
generation views gender as a mark of self expression they view it as a way of
displaying their full sense of self (Kott). As the times continue to change and new
ideas are implanted and accepted into our society words will also transform and
take on new meanings. The walls put up by the basic definition of gender have
over the years tarnished what it really means to be free and truly express yourself.
Beloved actress Emma Watson, who is a leading activist for gender equality,
recently stated in a speech for the Heforshe campaign, It is time that we all see
gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals (Griffiths). Over a long
period of time, the categorizing of different people into groups solely based on
their sex has unfortunately caused society to develop specific roles for each sex.
These gender roles attempt to classify certain interests, hobbies, and even jobs to
one specific sex and challenge those who oppose these unspoken rules, biting at
their heels as they push against the grain. For example, a gender role commonly
attributed to people who identify as female is that they enjoy cooking and cleaning.
While females may or may not enjoy cooking and cleaning, this role is not
exclusively for females. Identifying males can also

Some countries, such as United States, Brazil, India and nigeria link their bicameral
systems to their federal political structure. Bottom line is the bicameral systems can
stop governments from making laws and decisions that are not for the greater good.
Now with any good advantage, there must be disadvantages as well. When you are
dealing with human beings, money and power there is bound to be gridlock and
other complications associated with these procedures.
Although, it can also depend on how the two the two different houses can coexist.
Take for instance Brazil and United States. In Brazil, many political parties are in its
legislature and will even switch sides depending, to whereas the United States only
has two parties. Great Britain still uses unelected persons in the decision making
process.
They can either have equal power or one will be superior to the other one. This is
where checks and balances does its best work. Legislature is divided to keep it
from being able to hold all the power, then lets not forget about the powers of
Congress has on everything else. The Senate acts as a break in regards to major
changes to laws, which could be a good thing. The bicameral systems uphold
democracy and ride shotgun on the rules of law.

Affordable Care Act Essay
The Affordable Care Act is an act used to help citizens that need help with medical

Obama is 2010 and it is used to help people with health care. People around the
United States use ACA for medical bills, and health insurance. Affordable care act
is not only to help people with medical bills it also can be used for people who
really need help with medical bills and need help financially. The fate of the
Affordable Care Act is up in the air because the new president may or may not
repeal it. Some people would be against the act because they are mad that their tax
dollars go to it, and they would rather have their tax dollars go to something more
useful. America s medical cost rises twice as fast than the rest of the economy. In a
book written by Susan Dudley Gold she states that in 2009 60% of the U.S firms

that retired personnel receive 29% of healthbenefits from former employers.

Observation Of A Piglet
On September 10th 2017 Mr. Striker placed out 10 dead baby piglets in the body
farm at Wabash Heartland Career Center. The piglets all had different factors and
the piglets where all still born. Before the body farm even started we wrote
theories on questions that we were given and what we would think would happen
to each piglet in different factors. We started observing these piglets on September
11th 2017. We observed these piglets for three weeks until mostly all of the piglets
where decomposed all the way to bones. The piglet that was burned (piglet 2) was
the one to decompose the fastest out of the natural state piglet in the grass (piglet
1) and a buried piglet (piglet 10). My initial thought was correct that piglet 2 would
decompose fastest due to less skin for the bugs to get through the skin and get
inside of the piglet. Piglet 2 decomposed on day 9 it was completely bones with no
skin or flesh left on the bones due to maggots and other insects. Piglet 1 still had
maggots on its legs on day 9 and was decomposed on day 11 with only bones left.
The piglet 10 still has not been completely decomposed on day 15. The speed of
decompositionis different when the piglet is naked on the black top (piglet6) or a
clothed piglet on black top (piglet 7). My initial thought was that piglet 6 would
decompose faster because there would be one less layer to get through than on
piglet 7. I was correct that the piglet 6 did decompose faster than piglet 7. However

today. She wants to file a sexual harassment complaint against one of the bellmen.
How do you want to handle this? Should we discuss this with her first or set up an

I ll fix you lunch if you have time to discuss it today.
Thank you.

Dear Angel,
First of all, I would like to inform you that the HR Department has received the

Dog Is Man s Best Friend
Dog is Man s Best Friend The image that I chose was a photograph taken by a
woman named Elena Shunilova. The photo was taken of her child and their family
dog. To me, this image is beautiful. In the center, there is a young boy kneeling
down next to a very large dog. It appears to be just transition to winter from autumn.
The ground is still brown but snow is faintly falling around the boy and dog. The
young boy is wearing a navy blue snow outfit with tan fur accents around the hood
and in a ball on top of his hat. His eyes are closed as he is embracing the large dog
sitting next to him. It seems to be cold out based on his rosy red cheeks against his
very pale skin. The dog stands tall and appears to be older than the boy by the
matting in the cream colored fur on his chest. He is black around the jowls as well
as his eyes and ears. If the boy were to stand tall next to him, he would barely be
taller. The dog s eyes are also closed and his front legs are in a wide stance. The
bottom and top of the image are slightly blurred, and very dull in color. It appears
to be a very cloudy day. The image itself as well as the setting is enough to raise
curiosity in the story behind this photograph. There are some aspects of this image
that really stood out to me. Typically, when you introduce children to large dogs, or
really any animals, they are terrified and do not want to be around them. I can only
imagine walking up to an animal that stands taller than you; I would be
Jim Costello s Dynamics Of Desire
Jim Costello was born in Rochester, New York, and when he was a young boy his
passion for art showed (Jim Costello). Costello studied at the Ecole St. Luc art
school during high school, and then continued his art career in college. The
following years of teaching, Costello moved his family to northwest Virginia, and
started to paint the landscapes and the different scenery around his house. In
Costello art work you can tell that he is a modern painter because he uses different
shapes and bright colors to bring the viewers eyes directly to his paintings. The title
of his show called Dynamics of Desire: The Evocative Works of Jim Costello make it
seem as if his paintingwill have some type of sexual content (Jim Costello).
Although his painting displays naked women, he is trying to capture the spirt and
energy that animates the Shenandoah Valley. This explains why in many of his
painting there is a naked woman and a landscape of the valley because he is trying
to display mother nature in his work. He does not finish his paintings in one
setting, he does them over a period of years because his art work is in a very large
scale. The painting, Blanton, was finished in 1997 and it was a landscape of
mountains and a lake. The colors in this painting are so vibrant, that the blues,
greens, and the browns go directly to the viewer s eyes. This artist has so many
elements of art in this piece, with the lines and the texture on the water and the
mountains. The lines are everywhere
Innocence In The Secret Lion By Alberto Rios
Innocence in The Secret Lion
Growing up is an important event all boys go through. The story The Secret Lion
by Alberto Rios portrays two young boys in their journey to adulthood. The boy s
learn important life advice from the interactions with his mother. The boys have
realizations of the environments they were in and their new sexual feelings in their
journey through the arroyo and golf course. Fleeting innocence is shown in the boy
s endeavours with the grinding ball. The boys in Alberto Rios s The Secret Lion
have epiphanies which lead to learning knowledge necessary for well being in life.
The boys have realizations of the environments they were in and their new sexual
feelings in their journey through the arroyo and golf course. The children learn vital
life guidance from talking with the mother. The boys learn that parents keep many
things in life from their children, and that happens to be the golf course in The Secret
Lion . The boy realise that [His] mother [is] keeping something from [them] (Rios,

When the boy is reminiscing about the grinding ball, he remembers he uses kid s
words (rios, 86). The boy admits the words are childish words, and that he has
matured and grown up since then. The boys lose their ball. The boys bury their
ball, but admit that once [they] buris it, it was gone forever] which leads to the
boys learning that if you do not keep careful control over and organise your
belongings you may lose them, and organisation is definitely helpful in life. The
boys were scared the adults would try to take their grinding ball, as [the ball], was
going to be taken from [them]. The parents are the adulthood, and are taking away the
ball. which represents the childhood of the boys. In the journey the boys
The Iceberg Of The Internet
The iceberg of the internet Google search results may seem like a lot; however,
that s only around 4% of the internet . (Yale 2014). You see, search engines do their
best to find as many websites as they can by using crawlers to dig around. The
surface web is anything that has been indexed by these crawlers, basically it s
anything that shows up in Google search results. Websites such as Wikipedia and
Bing fall under the surface web category as well. However, some websites are
designed specifically to block these crawlers, thus, making the website
unreachable, and unable to be shown in search results. These websites are part of a
different category known as the deep web. The deep web is really anything that
can t been indexed, unsearchable and unreachable, by search engines. Now, the
deep web is often confused with the dark web, giving the deep web a bad
reputation. People associate these types of websites with criminal activities, such
as drugs. However, that s far from the truth. In reality the deep web is what many
people use. The deep web includes things like your email, bank information and
credit card information, you can t search that stuff up on Google now can you?
The deep web itself can be divided into many sub categories such as private web,
software etc. Due to the nature of these websites, we are not sure exactly how many
of them there are. However, it s safe to assume that most websites are located in the
deep web. People have speculated that the deep web
What Is The Last Time When Goldilocks Went Wrong
This porridge is way too hot said, Goldilocks. Then, Goldilocks went to the the
third bowl of porridge, skipping the second one. Just right. I knew the third one
was going to be good. Goldilocks was very tired after the porridge, so she slugged
up the stairs, and went straight to bed and fell asleep. The Bears marched in side,
and stomped up the stairs to take a nap, Thud Thud, Thud Thud, as the restless
bears rolled up the stairs. Goldilocks was still asleep from when she ate the porridge,
to when they got home. Baby Bear went to get in his bed, but he saw golden blonde
hair sticking out of his bed, Baby Bear screamed THERE IS A WEIRDO IN MY

calm voice said I killed her to save your life. You could have been killed by her or got
rabies or you could have been stuffed and put up in someone s house, but baby Bear
didn t listen. Baby Bear was so angry that he ran as fast as he could through the
woods, all the way to the country.
Baby Bear breathed heavily and looked around. Where is my house? he thought to
himself. Baby Bear figured if he turned around and started walking in the direction he
came, he would end up back home. Baby Bear turned around and guns were pointed
at him. Baby Bear could not go anywhere, he was
Compare And Contrast Karl Shapiro And John Donne
Different attitudes that Karl Shapiro and john Donne and perspective towards death
Introduction
Karl Shapiro and John Donne are poets who view death in a different manner
looking at to the main ideas of their poems Auto wreck and death be not proud. These
two poems share the same theme which is mortality and the main ideas are different
since Donne s poem denies the fact that death has power within people and Shapiro
seems confused by the unpredictableness of death by car accident. In real life we
also have people who view death in a different manner and they are encouraged by
their own beliefs. The Christians believe that they are going to live an eternal life
after death and they are readily waiting for death to take them away from the misery

He perceived death in a Christian manner by revealing the fact that we will all
wake up from the dead to live the eternal life, so death is not frightening because if
it looks like a sleep, then one day we are going to wake up from this sleep and it is a
lowly slave that depends on fate. The poet is very arrogant since he believes that
people cannot be defeated by this death and it cannot kill anyone.
Shapiro thinks that death is frightening and he is asking himself that why do we
have to die in a cruel manner like having an accident while john criticizes death by
saying death is a servant to many horrible masters such as fate and accident and he
is mocking death by saying sleeping pill can make us sleep better that death. The
poet chose to stick to his Christian believe that even if we die now, one day we are
going to wake up from the dead and live eternal live where we are going to live
peacefully without earthly conflicts. To support his point, the quote from the bible
revelation 14:13 then I heard a voice from heaven saying blessed are the dead who
die in the lord from now on, they rest from their labour for their deeds will follow
them this statement support John Donne s point of saying death is not as powerful as
it thinks and it is some
Argumentative Essay On Snapchat
Abilene Christian University (ACU) in Texas has kicked out several teenage
students for posing in blackface on a video on messaging app Snapchat. A video
surfaced on Snapchat showing an unidentified white female student sporting black
makeup covering her face and oversized costume lips. In the said clip, the student
says I m a strong black woman while people s laughter in the background is audible,
the Daily Mail describes. In addition, the Snapchat video is accompanied by the
caption: This is why black lives matter exists. The footage has sparked outrage among
ACU students, with one student expressing disbelief that someone at ACU could do
something like that. Others called for the students who made the Snapchat video to

Baroque Movement And Religion
This article explores the production of religious images by the Baroque movement as
a mass production of icons and superimposing images. Although, this piece of work
focuses mainly on this art movement and is effects on Mexican culture, it also
describes how the appropriation of certain symbols can influence culture, religion, and
politics of other societies.
The sculptures, paintings, and churches influenced by the Baroque period are
described as symbols that can evoke magic and transcendence which might
corroborate to the perception that the Roman Catholic Church used the Baroque
glamour to appeal all the senses of the society in contact with it. The holy objects
used by the church were designed to be very functional and ornamental, in order to
impress and touch the feelings of its followers.
The author of this publication, Renee De La Torre, addresses with confidence how
the aspects of baroque art were used by the Catholic Church to create icons that
could influence the spread of the Catholic reformation. De La Torre has a Master s
degree in Communication Studies from ITESO, a PhD in Social Sciences, and is
specialized in Social Anthropology.
Baroque is addressed objectively but also in a lot of detail in this reference entry.
From the definition to the different aspects of the movement in Europe, this
encyclopedia brings the historical background and general characteristics of baroque
art that can be used as a foundation for arguments concerning the influence of the
Yooree Losordo
There, she stood in the corner that she could finally call her own.
This was the moment that made Yooree Losordo realize that she had accomplished
what many had a difficult time initiating a successful business. As the owner of On
the Dot Books Bookstore, the shear excitement of bringing a service to the
community helps to keep her working tirelessly in her efforts to continue developing
all positive ideas into reality.
Migrating from Seoul, South Korea, to the United States at just six years old made
Yooree feel eternally grateful to be in a country where she would be given the same
opportunities to become a working, successful citizen like everyone else. Since
moving to America, her mother worked at the Queens Borough Public Library....

In many occasions, women owned businesses stay at a small scale due to lack of
finance. Unlike some differing opinion, Boston has a lot of resources for women
entrepreneurs. Contrary to popular beliefs, Yooree believes that it is very easy to get
opportunities as a woman. The question of discrimination between men and women,
and people of color in the business field arose. Yooree commented, I have never
been white nor a man, so I would not know about how it feels to be in their
position, but women and men of color tend to be socially conscience, such as the
Black Lives Matter movement, and their businesses have social ambitions. The
challenges do remain to be all the same. She says that she has never faced any
discrimination that she was aware of, but strongly agrees that entrepreneurs were
made to keep going and not dwell on situations as such.
In terms of being a business owner, Yooree believes that the pros of owning one s
own business is that it is very rewarding, one can set their own schedule, the job can
be positively challenging, it is possible to create an unlimited destiny, and it gives
people an opportunity to grow within themselves. The cons, however, are that the
work is never done, and solo entrepreneurship simply means that there are never
enough people to help with the
Factors Of Individual Identity
Individual identity or the self identity means what people think about themselves. The
thinking comes from how the personal contacts of an individual take place on the
physical, emotional and psychological level. Identification with one s own identity
develops through thinking. This thinking takes place through the interaction taking
place in the family by the family members, neighbourhood, society and the
community. The factors that shape the individual identity of a person help to shape
up the attributes, behaviors, beliefs and relationships of an individual. At times when
the identity of an individual is not established in the society then that individual can
take unnatural means or illegal ways to foster that identity.
However, the development ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People acquire different behavioral characteristics and attributes as a response to the
behaviors received by them. Love and warmth brings comfort and caring which
helps to develop cheerful and confident adults. On the other hand, hatred received
from the people bounces back in the form of more hatred from that individual. If the
basic needs and the desires are not fulfilled, then a person develops into a complex
character. This happens in the sub conscious mind. The person may not be aware of
the behavioral changes that he may be going through in order to find and prove his
own identity.
The complex nature of human being, their quest for individual identity and the
resultant behavioral changes is the centre of focus in the novel Frankenstein written
by Mary Shelly in the year 1818. The novel written two centuries back was a bold
novel that talked about the havoc the science may create through the eyes of a
strange creature. At the same time, the novel digs a little deeper into the complex
minds of the people and their egos. Ego is an integral aspect of one s personality.
When a person finds his personal identity then his ego is polished and he finds
himself worthy in his own eyes. However, the

Dystonic Reaction
Dystonic Reaction A dystonic reaction is generally a side effect to a particular
medication. Often the medications are used to treat psychological or psychiatric
conditions. They often come from other common medications such as antihistamines,
cimetidine, doxepin, and bromocriptine. These reactions occur when the normal
patterns of our nerve receptors are upset by a particular medication and the
imbalance causes multiple types of muscle spasm. This not a drug allergy. It is your

  • 2. My Memories Of My Early Years I have very few recollections of my early years and at what exact age I was able to read and write. Some of my earliest memories are vague on the topic of my literacy. However, I do remember small memories, such as, learning how to write my name in cursive, winning prizes for reading, and crying over every assigned high schoolessay. Over the last twelve years my literacy has grown rapidly with the help of teachers, large school libraries, my family, and so on. There is always room for my literacy skills to grow, but my family s help and positive attitude towards my education, the school systems I have been a part of, and the horrible required essays from high school helped me obtain the level, skills, habits, and processes that I use as part of my literacy today. I was raised up in a family that loved to read and write, like my sister who published a children s book while she was in just middle school; she also wrote other stories that were loved my her teachers. My parents have continuously pushed me and my siblings to read above our grade levels, study writing during the summer, and never listen to when other kids or adult titled us as stupid . This positive drive really aided me when I was a little and even endures on today. The positive push when I was little made me want to be the very best in my class and a little bit of a show off. My earliest memory of learning to read or write goes all the way back to when I was around seven years old, and in elementary school on

The year of 1971 was a game changer as Lamar Muse joined Air Southwest as President and Air Southwest changed its name to Southwest Co. The mission and vision of Air Southwest during this time was to eliminate unnecessary services and to utilize secondary airports in order to offer the lowest fares in the industry. Fast forward to 2016 and Herb has stepped down as the chairman for Southwest, the mission however is still the same, dedication to provide the highest level of customer while delivering a sense of warmth, friendliness, individual pride, and Company Spirit. • 4. Rationalizing Rejection in Sonnet 42 Sonnet 42: Rationalizing Rejection Shakespeare s Sonnet 42 is about a man, the speaker, who is contemplating the loss of his lover to his friend. The speaker is exploring the motive for his lover s choice of betrayal; more notably he is attempting to explain why this betrayal has occurred with a series of different rationalizations. The speaker appears to believe that he will not be as pained by his loss if he were to rationalize why his lover betrayed him. Shakespeare notoriously wrote three separate types of sonnets. The first set is Sonnets 1 126 which discuss a young man and often deal with the element of time. Sonnet 42 falls into the young man category and this character is present as the speaker s friend. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This rationalization has several flaws. First, the speaker shows a contradiction in line 5; the speaker calls his betrayers, loving offenders yet says he will excuse the sinners. This is a contradiction since he makes it a point to call them offenders while forgiving them in the same line. Line 6 in the second quatrain is the thesis of the speaker s second attempt to rationalize and shows yet another contradiction. The form of this line does not match with the rest of the sonnet in its iambic pentameter form. Shakespeare uses this particular form to set the line apart from the rest of the sonnet. The line s emphasis is on the fact that the young man only desires the speaker s lover because he knew the speaker loved her as well. This has a double meaning which may be why Shakespeare intended for it to stand out from the rest of the sonnet. First, the meaning could be just as it reads; this is most likely the true motivation the young man had to in seeking the lover in order to take her away from the speaker. Yet, the speaker attempts to excuse the young man s behavior by giving a second meaning to the line saying in lines 7 and 8 that the betrayal was done for his own sake in order to test the lover s faithfulness. This rationale is flawed here because in the event that the
  • 5. What Is Equality In Susan B Anthony s Speech From a young age, American students are able to comprehend the idea that our nation s success tends to center around the equality of the people. History classes have taught us that the less discrimination in this world, the easier a country can succeed. Although the nation continues to fight the war of inequality between its citizens through endless protests and movements, the nation itself has promised equality to all minorities no matter their color or gender. With new laws added to the Bill of Rights, the United Stateshave been able to resolve government issues regarding civil liberties such as freedom of speech, voting regulations and female restrictions that have haunted us from our American past. Voting, in this day and age, is easily taken for granted by most. When Susan B. Anthony gave her speech in 1873 in the hope of the country bettering their laws to comply with the female population, she knew the nation s laws complied most with the white male citizens (Source E) of the country. Knowing that mistreatment in society was something shared between minorities, Anthony called out the group of people that were treated better than anyone. When speaking to her audience, Anthony uses ethos in her speech in order to make her point clear that withholding women s civil liberties is wrong. Being a woman in 1873, Anthony faced discrimination in her everyday life; for this reason, she chose to focus on changing not only the country s social discrimination, but also it s
  • 6. My Trip to Saint Petersburg Dali Museum For our assigned cultural exposure I chose to visit the Saint Petersburg Dali Museum. I drove over on a windy day across the causeway in a Jeep that is less than running well, so by the time I found the museum I was a bit relieved. I had wanted to go to the Museum since moving here in early 2011 but have just never made the time. I lived in southern Spain for several years and one of the few regrets I have from my time there is that I never made it to the museum there. Upon my arrival and paying my admission fee I was informed that there was a guided tour about to begin. I hurried up the stairs and filled in the back of the pack. There are about 30 35 other patrons there as well. The guide starts with a brief history of Dali s early life growing up in southeastern Spain, the death of his mother and his fathers remarrying of Dali s aunt (which he commemorated in a painting), to his marring to the Famous Gala. The guide then informed us that it was Gala who helped to manage Dali s career acting as his agent. Not only was his love for Gala shown in his art but also her tenacity reflected in several of the pieces on display featuring her. Several of the paintings on display this year either in the Morse Family collection or on loan to the museum were discussed on the tour to included a painting Dali did about the age of 15 after his mothers passing and his fathers marring his deceased wife s sister. The painting was done to commemorate the occasion and even at 15 his skills as

  • 8. The Grey Zone Analysis Initially, it may seem as though right and wrong are starkly divided, such as the colors black and white are starkly opposite. Despite this conviction, I ve grown to understand that strictly categorizing these entities are of inept and inconsiderate nature. Similar to how most articles in the world are neither black, nor white, most ideas, motives, and tangible and intangible objects fall in between the classifications of right and wrong. Appropriately labeled the grey zone , actions that challenge the implemented structure of moralityconflict the subjective judgement. When the situations of doing the wrong thing for the right reasons and doing the right thing for the wrong reasons arise, I must elect that there are circumstances in which the former is acceptable and justifiable. Each individual holds different beliefs of what is right and what is wrong, but I disagree with Kant on several aspects of morality and ethics. It is a universal virtue to never lie and to always speak the truth, but modern pop culture reveres heroes who defy this rule. What if it were to protect an individual from further harm? In spite of such a law, George kills Lennie in Steinbeck s Of Mice and Men . This act may strike an ethical discord, but George s motives behind his case were out of mercy for Lennie s plight. A mob of angry farmers hunted and pursued Lennie after he had accidentally killed the wife of one of the farmers. Knowing this, George took it upon himself to spare Lennie from inevitable torment and a painful death. Murder is wrong, but once motives and circumstances are accounted for, the line between moral and immoral

However, music plays an enormous role in our psychology, because a single song has the ability to bring about many kinds of thoughts and emotions in the listener. Music is subtly one of the main factors in which people identify with certain groups and establish their belonging in society. It shapes people s perspectives on how the world functions and the roles they play within it. Musiccan function the same way in a culture; it can reflect many of the cultures values and ideologies. As a result, people in in Mexican communities are able to proudly identify themselves as Mexicans. With a vast amount of culturally proud people, Mexican culture will ultimately be kept alive. Music can also be a differentiating factor for social and economic classes. In lecture twelve (Roma music), the clear distinction between the romungre and vlachs musicals groups proved that music influenced this separation. The types of instruments used, or lack of, tell of the people s standing in the social and economic ladders. For instance, romungre music is professional, urban, and was played in elaborate settings. In the video excerpt shown during lecture, the well dressed man played the violin, while the other members played other various instruments such as the cimbalom and piano. The possession of the various instruments is clear evidence that the people in that community have extra money to spend on these luxurious items. In addition to the aesthetics of the performance, the sounds produced by these instruments also suggest a level of sophistication and class. The song began with a sow tempo, which offers a smooth timbre. The tempo then sped up, which showed the virtuosity of performers, suggesting the affluence of the performers, because he was
  • 10. What Are The Advantages And Disadvantages Of Introducing... The euro was introduced as a single currency as it offered many advantages over the previous situation where each European country had its own currency. One of the main objectives of introducing the euro was to strengthen relations between member states. The idea, rather a simple one, if you get countries to trade with each other then they are a lot less likely to go to war. It seems a legitimate reason, as Western Europe has been at peace now for nearly seventy years and counting. To explain a little more about the history of introducing the euro, throughout the 1960s on to the 1980s the EEC helped break down cultural barriers between European countries. One downside is that the interest rates set by the ECB may not be suitable for the whole Eurozone. It may be unsuitable for countries that are growing much faster or slower than the Eurozone average. In, 2011, the ECB increased inflation rates because of fears of inflation in Germany, however during the same time, southern Eurozone countries were heading for recession because the interest rates set were unsuitable for countries such as Portugal Greece and Italy. There is also a lack of incentives being apart of the Eurozone as it is argued being a member protects a country form currency crisis. Therefore, there is less of an incentive for countries to implement structural reform and fiscal responsibility. For example, in good times Greece was able to benefit from very low bond yields on its debt because people thought that the Greek debt would be taken and secured by the rest of Europe, but this wasn t the case and Greece fell victim to a false sense of security. Also the Eurozone is not an optimal currency area due to language barriers. For example if a state in the New York was facing a recession workers could easily move to New England to get a job, however in the Eurozone this is much more difficult. There are a lot more barriers to the movement of labour and capital in Europe. An unemployed Greek cannot easily move to
  • 11. The Nature Of Freedom By Jacques Derrida In The Politics of Friendship, Jacques Derrida boldly declares: no deconstruction without democracy, no democracy without deconstruction. Accordingly, this democracy to come could not exist without some semblance of freedom. This deconstructive form of freedom is certainly not an individual freedom to do as one pleases, nor is it simply freedom from constraint. The freedom which constitutes deconstructionis aporetic in nature, thus making it difficult (or rather impossible) to give a straightforward definition. However, this lack of a definition for freedom is not a problem for Derrida. In fact, the undefinable nature of freedom is the condition for its existence. If a full definition of freedom were to be given, its ability to thrive would be crushed. However, this does not mean that discussions regarding the nature of freedom are without meaning. In discussing what freedom could be, what freedom could mean, one can better understand how to maximize freedom in both societies and our individual lives. To recognize the tension that lies within the word freedom is to better understand what its existence could actually entail. During an interview in 2001, Derrida stated the following regarding his suspicion towards Freedom : In my opinion, the most free thought is one that is constantly coming to terms with the effects of the machine. That s why I rarely use the word freedom in the way I know you do ... I will fight for specific freedoms, but I will not calmly speak

For example, Maddie s Fund wrote that no kill shelters save all healthy and treatable dogs and cats. They will even keep the animal until it gets adopted. Around 7.6 million dogs and cats are sent to an animal shelter every year. But only 4.9 animals are saved mostly by no kill shelters. However, if the animal is unhealthy or untreatable, they will put it down. Also, they only take in animals that are adoptable. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, they limit how much time an animal has to get adopted. According to an article, To clarify, there are some shelters that will let an animal stay for two weeks before euthanizing it. Others give only 3 days. According to research, some shelters may give an animal 3 days, then an additional 7, should the owner come looking for the animal. Meanwhile, other shelters may give the animals a few months, a few weeks, a few days, or even just an hour. This shows how these shelters don t care about finding homes for these homeless animals. Furthermore, kill shelters use excuses for murdering the innocent little animals. An article said they use excuses like We don t have enough room, we don t have enough money to keep them alive, or they aren t young or cute enough and nobody will want to adopt them. Every year, approximately 2.7 million dogs and cats are euthanized because there isn t enough room. As you can see, these shelters don t even think these animals are worthy of being alive. Lastly, research told how kill shelters send out little to no notice of advertisement for the animals. The only advertisement that some kill shelters send out is a death row which tells adopters that they are about to kill some animals, so they need to come adopt one before it s too late. In other words, kill shelters don t give much effort in encouraging people to adopt an animal. Kill shelters are the most harsh shelters of them

The filibuster has a major impact on the efficiency of Congress and is something that could be changed in order to improve Congressional efficiency. Currently, a supermajority of sixty votes is required to end a filibuster, but if a lower number such as forty one votes was required, forty one votes would also be required to maintain a filibuster. This would mean that Congressional members would have less of a chance to hinder the ability of the legislative body to move forward on important legislation. This would improve public perception of the legislative process and likely increase Congressional approval ratings. In addition to lessening the number of votes required to end a filibuster, Congress could increase productivity by ending the filibuster on the motion to proceed. This would limit debate on a motion to two hours, which would be divided equally between the two parties (Staff, 2014). This would eliminate the practice of an overabundance of prior floor debate altogether and cap the amount of time spent debating the motion to proceed. Throughout the movie, there are numerous depictions of the cohabitation between the two groups. Using the movie, Black Robe, the following question will be answered through examples presented in the movie; how does the film portray the middle ground between the Algonquian Indians and the French colonists? The movie itself was confusing at first in the beginning, however, it became easier to follow as the plot progressed. The concept of a middle ground came about when the French colonists came to America and encountered the Algonquian Indians. Both groups of people lived together and shared aspects of their culture with one another. For example, the French colonists learned the native language of the Indian people, and the Indians learned French. The movie opens with the fur trade. The fur trade showed a give and take relationship among the Algonquians and the French. The Algonquians would help hunt and skin the animals, in exchange, the French would give them whatever they needed. Another example of this give and take relationship occurs during the beginning of the movie, where a group of Indians led by Chomina escort Black Robe and David to the Huron Mission. One of the Indians makes a comment to Black Robe that since they had paddled so hard that they should be given something, specifically tobacco. To ensure that the

This ultimately led to a constant struggle in the South to keep schools segregated. The most notable situation occurred in the town of Little Rock, Arkansas during the 1957 school year. Nine black students volunteered to integrate into Central High. This constant struggle to turn the Supreme Court ruling into a societal norm was documented by one of the Little Rock Nine. Melba Pattillo Beals s novel, Warriors Don t Cry, depicts the forces in favor of integration, forces opposing integration, and the constant adversity faced by the Little Rock Nine. The multiple forces in favor of integration were determined to gain access to Central High School and integrate public schools in the south. Before any integration was possible in the United States, the NAACP, or the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, was forced to file a lawsuit in the Federal District Court to integrate public schools immediately due to the public and state backlash towards integration (Beals 20). Judge Ronald Davies declared that Governor Faubus had thwarted the court approved plan of integration furthering the movement to integrate Central High (Beals 68). After the lawsuit was settled, the Little Rock Nine was scheduled to integrate into Central High School. However, even after these

The Impact Of The Northwest Ordinance Of 1787 Throughout the course of United States history, there have been multiple occurrences in which influenced and impacted the United States as it is today. Since the colonization of the colonies, the United States has proven to have improved its nation through many acts, movements, political persons, and governmental theories. However; the Northwest Ordinanceof 1787, the creation of the Erie Canal, Henry Clay s American System , the Fugitive Slave Act, and the Emancipation Proclamation were all specific occurrences and events that impacted the development of the United Statespolitically and economically. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was an important occurrence that effected the United States politically and economically because it was one of the first movements that introduced the abolition or freedom of slaves. The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 was a land act that provided for orderly settlement and established a process by which settles territories would become the states of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, and Wisconsin. It therefore banned the slavery in these Northwest Territories. Furthermore, this Ordinance prohibited slavery and ear marked funds from land sales for the support of schools. The land ordinances of the 1780s were a great and enduring achievement of the Confederation Congress. It therefore provided for an orderly settlement and the admission of new states based on equality; there would be no politically dependent colonies in the West. The Northwest

Reflective Journal Number Two Essay Reflective Journal Number Two I am going to look back at a situation on my unit in the operating room (OR) where I implemented a change using some of the distinguishing characteristics authentic leaders posses according to Maria Shirey in 2006. I have worked in the OR for 13 years and have witnessed many changes take place, both good and bad. Our situation was unique because staffing coverage must be 24 hours due to our level 1 trauma status. The RN s brought forward the current system used for scheduling during holidays was unfair with no apparent pattern. It was very random with many of the same RN s working the majority of the holidays. Nurses comments ranged from, Why am I always on the major holidays, I never get to spend the holidays with my family, and the same people are getting the holidays off, why is that? Management overlooked the fairness for covering the schedule. Holiday coverage is reduced to two teams and a charge nurse which consists of five staff members, allowing more staff to be off. Everything was status quo to management until it was mentioned at a staff meeting with much dissatisfaction. I was asked by my manager to lead a committee of RN s. She chose the staff to participate on this committee. The goal was to propose a new system for holiday scheduling that was fair and systematic. My leader was empowering her staff to make positive changes; she was encouraging creativity by motivating her followers (Grossman Valiga, 2013).

Comanche Indians COMANCHE INDIANS The Comanches, exceptional horsemen who dominated the Southern Plains, played a prominent role in Texas frontier history throughout much of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Anthropological evidence indicates that they were originally a mountain tribe, a branch of the Northern Shoshones, who roamed the Great Basin region of the western United States as crudely equipped hunters and gatherers. Both cultural and linguistic similarities confirm the Comanches Shoshone origins. An example of how Americans see gender today is laid out perfectly by Caitlin Ryan, a social worker at San Francisco University, when she explains, This generation views gender as a mark of self expression they view it as a way of displaying their full sense of self (Kott). As the times continue to change and new ideas are implanted and accepted into our society words will also transform and take on new meanings. The walls put up by the basic definition of gender have over the years tarnished what it really means to be free and truly express yourself. Beloved actress Emma Watson, who is a leading activist for gender equality, recently stated in a speech for the Heforshe campaign, It is time that we all see gender as a spectrum instead of two sets of opposing ideals (Griffiths). Over a long period of time, the categorizing of different people into groups solely based on their sex has unfortunately caused society to develop specific roles for each sex. These gender roles attempt to classify certain interests, hobbies, and even jobs to one specific sex and challenge those who oppose these unspoken rules, biting at their heels as they push against the grain. For example, a gender role commonly attributed to people who identify as female is that they enjoy cooking and cleaning. The piglets all had different factors and the piglets where all still born. Before the body farm even started we wrote theories on questions that we were given and what we would think would happen to each piglet in different factors. We started observing these piglets on September 11th 2017. We observed these piglets for three weeks until mostly all of the piglets where decomposed all the way to bones. The piglet that was burned (piglet 2) was the one to decompose the fastest out of the natural state piglet in the grass (piglet 1) and a buried piglet (piglet 10). My initial thought was correct that piglet 2 would decompose fastest due to less skin for the bugs to get through the skin and get inside of the piglet. Piglet 2 decomposed on day 9 it was completely bones with no skin or flesh left on the bones due to maggots and other insects. Piglet 1 still had maggots on its legs on day 9 and was decomposed on day 11 with only bones left. The piglet 10 still has not been completely decomposed on day 15. The speed of decompositionis different when the piglet is naked on the black top (piglet6) or a clothed piglet on black top (piglet 7). My initial thought was that piglet 6 would decompose faster because there would be one less layer to get through than on piglet 7. I was correct that the piglet 6 did decompose faster than piglet 7. To me, this image is beautiful. In the center, there is a young boy kneeling down next to a very large dog. It appears to be just transition to winter from autumn. The ground is still brown but snow is faintly falling around the boy and dog. The young boy is wearing a navy blue snow outfit with tan fur accents around the hood and in a ball on top of his hat. His eyes are closed as he is embracing the large dog sitting next to him. It seems to be cold out based on his rosy red cheeks against his very pale skin. The dog stands tall and appears to be older than the boy by the matting in the cream colored fur on his chest. He is black around the jowls as well as his eyes and ears. If the boy were to stand tall next to him, he would barely be taller. The dog s eyes are also closed and his front legs are in a wide stance. The bottom and top of the image are slightly blurred, and very dull in color. It appears to be a very cloudy day. The image itself as well as the setting is enough to raise curiosity in the story behind this photograph. There are some aspects of this image that really stood out to me. Typically, when you introduce children to large dogs, or really any animals, they are terrified and do not want to be around them. In Costello art work you can tell that he is a modern painter because he uses different shapes and bright colors to bring the viewers eyes directly to his paintings. The title of his show called Dynamics of Desire: The Evocative Works of Jim Costello make it seem as if his paintingwill have some type of sexual content (Jim Costello). Although his painting displays naked women, he is trying to capture the spirt and energy that animates the Shenandoah Valley. This explains why in many of his painting there is a naked woman and a landscape of the valley because he is trying to display mother nature in his work. He does not finish his paintings in one setting, he does them over a period of years because his art work is in a very large scale. The painting, Blanton, was finished in 1997 and it was a landscape of mountains and a lake. The colors in this painting are so vibrant, that the blues, greens, and the browns go directly to the viewer s eyes. Yooree commented, I have never been white nor a man, so I would not know about how it feels to be in their position, but women and men of color tend to be socially conscience, such as the Black Lives Matter movement, and their businesses have social ambitions. The challenges do remain to be all the same. Love and warmth brings comfort and caring which helps to develop cheerful and confident adults. On the other hand, hatred received from the people bounces back in the form of more hatred from that individual. If the basic needs and the desires are not fulfilled, then a person develops into a complex character. This happens in the sub conscious mind. The person may not be aware of the behavioral changes that he may be going through in order to find and prove his own identity. The complex nature of human being, their quest for individual identity and the resultant behavioral changes is the centre of focus in the novel Frankenstein written by Mary Shelly in the year 1818. The novel written two centuries back was a bold novel that talked about the havoc the science may create through the eyes of a strange creature. At the same time, the novel digs a little deeper into the complex minds of the people and their egos. Ego is an integral aspect of one s personality. When a person finds his personal identity then his ego is polished and he finds himself worthy in his own eyes. However, the

What Is The Difference Between Capacity And Remembrance Tenacity and Remembrance Over the last ten years, the United States has enjoyed unequalled success in multiple campaigns while often in protracted conflict, and astoundingly each victory has been achieved with an all volunteer force. These accomplishments are a byproduct of the tenacity, personal character, and ethos of the Special Operations Forces (SOF) men and women who are determined to win the fight no matter what the cost; however, it must be considered that this great strength can also precede a great weakness, forgetting. The SOF community dare not forge into the future until it considers the lessons that can be learned from the past. There is nothing new except what has been forgotten. They often come from other common medications such as antihistamines, cimetidine, doxepin, and bromocriptine. Smoothing spline is an efficient method of reconstructing smoothing curves. In conventional smoothing spline, the objective function minimizes errors of observed position points with a penalty term, who has a single parameter that controls the smoothness of reconstruction. Adaptive smoothing spline extends single parameter to a function varying in different domains and adapting the change of roughness. In this paper, using Hermite Spline, we

Jurnal Manajemen Keuangan ANALISIS KURS VALAS DENGAN PENDEKATAN BOX JENKINS: Studi Empiris Rp/US$ dan Rp/Yen, 1983.2 2000.3 Oleh: Hadi Kardoyo dan Mudrajad Kuncoro Abstract This paper attempts to analyse Rp/US$ and Rp/Yen exchange rates over the period 1983.2 2000.3.
