Speaking Spanish is really important nowadays. It is one the most spoken
languages in the world and the second in the United States. It is also really
important for my future career. I consider a career as an International lawyer for
human rights. I would like to work between the European continent and the

Historical Accuracy Of The Movie Glory
Edward Zwick s, Glory, was an inspiring tale about the bravery of volunteer soldiers
in the 54th Regiment of Massachusetts. He tells of their trials, tribulations, and
successes. He brings to light the reality of their situation, and does so by altering it.
Fortunately, the changes he made do not take away from the historical accuracy of
the plot as a whole.
Glory expressed the challenging journey of the 54th Regiment of Massachusetts
Volunteer Infantry, the first all black infantry, headed by Colonel Robert Gould Shaw

The movie displayed the prejudice and trials the regiment faced as they prepared to
fight in the Civil War. At first they were only used for menial labor, but they later

A great example being the shortage of food and shoes. Also the conditions of the
barracks they had to live in. Burchard describes their struggle by stating, nothing to
eat and the coldest possible barracks (Burchard, pg. 102). Zwick was also accurate
with the scene where Montgomery led the men to a town to loot and burn.
Burchard describes Shaw s disapproval of the order by stating, he refused to take
hand in this satanic action (Burchard, pg. 108). Other accuracies include the death
of Shaw, the harshness of their training, and their initial tasks being confined to
labor only. Glory has educational value because it stays true to real events and
character character interactions. Zwick does choose to exaggerate the influence of
characters in the regiment to draw emotion, but his exaggeration does not take away
from the historical accuracy as a whole. Glory should not be taken as complete truth,
but as long as the audience is aware of the changes, there is no harm done. The film is
a good representation of the black soldiers who can often times by over looked, so
there is educational value in the awareness it brings to their
