Essays About Science
Writing an essay on the topic "Essays About Science" may pose a unique set of challenges. The
vastness of the subject itself can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the breadth of
scientific disciplines provides a plethora of interesting topics to explore, from physics to biology,
chemistry to astronomy. However, this very diversity can make it daunting to narrow down your
focus and choose a specific aspect to delve into.
Additionally, the ever-evolving nature of scientific knowledge means that staying current with
the latest research and advancements is crucial. It requires continuous effort to keep abreast of
new discoveries, theories, and methodologies. This can be time-consuming, as scientific
literature is often dense and complex.
Furthermore, striking the right balance between technical details and accessibility for a broader
audience is a delicate art. Explaining complex scientific concepts in a way that is both accurate
and comprehensible to readers without a specialized background can be challenging.
Crafting a compelling narrative and maintaining a coherent structure is another hurdle.
Organizing your thoughts, findings, and arguments in a logical sequence while ensuring a
smooth flow can demand considerable effort.
Lastly, avoiding clichГ©s and injecting originality into an essay on a widely covered subject like
science can be demanding. Readers often appreciate fresh perspectives and insights, but
generating them requires a deep understanding of the topic and a creative approach.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on the theme "Essays About Science," one must navigate
through the vast sea of knowledge, keep abreast of the latest developments, strike a balance
between technicality and accessibility, maintain a coherent structure, and inject a sense of
originality. It's a task that requires dedication, research, and a passion for the subject.

Objectives These two cases present the capital investment decisions under
consideration by executives of a large chemicals firm in January 2001. The A case
(case 20) presents a go/no go project evaluation regarding improvements to a
polypropylene production plant. The B case (case 21) reviews the same project but
from one level higher, where the executive faces an either/or investment decision
between two mutually exclusive projects. The objective of the two cases is to

point of objection is her inclusion of the right of way in the analysis. A brief
discussion should establish that the option of the right of way should be exercised
regardless of whether the project at the Rotterdam plant is undertaken. Therefore, the
cash flows associated with the right of way should be separated from the rest of the

Bennett (1996) described that customer service seeks to establish long term,
committed, trusting and cooperative relationship with customers, characterized by
openness, genuine concern for the delivery of high quality services, responsiveness to
customer suggestions, fair dealings and willingness to sacrifice short term advantage
for long term gains. Schneider and Bowen (1999) advocated that service business can
retain customers and achieve profitability by building reciprocal relationships
founded on safeguarding and affirming customer security, fairness and self esteem. It
requires that companies view customers as people first and consumers second. Trust,
commitment, ethical practices, fulfillment of promises, mutual exchange, emotional
bonding, personalization and customer orientation have been reported to be the key
elements in the relationship building process (Levitt,1986; Gronroos, 1994;
Morgan,1994; Gummesson,1994; Bejou et al,1998 ).
Customer service refers to all business activities directed towards initiating,
establishing, maintaining, and developing successful long term relational exchanges
(Heide, 1994; Reinartz Kumar, 2003). One of the results of Customer service is the
promotion of customer loyalty (Evans Laskin, 1994), which is considered to be a
relational phenomenon, (Chow Holden, 1997; Jacoby Kyner, 1973; Sheth Parvatiyar,

Theme Of Names In Song Of Solomon

Mr. Fusco
10/13/17
Song of Solomon Names Names are apart of all cultures and have major
significance to the recipients of the name and further to the society as a whole.
People are identified by the name provided to them at birth. This such name can be
derived from a variety of different origins, depending heavily upon what ethnicity, or
culture the child is born into. A parent provides their child with a name that they
believe has some kind of significance, or a deeper symbolic meaning to their family.
Throughout one s life, they might acquire a number of nicknames. Nicknames can
reflect how others perceive a certain person, or even how that person views himself,
inferring either a positive or negative connotation. In Songs of Solomon, many
characters have names that provide a deeper insight on their true identity in the novel.
Whether the character is trying to escape the reality of their name or not, the name
itself still establishes truth behind theirs actions and who they came from. Names in
Song of Solomon ultimately establish a character s behavioral traits and cultural
background, advancing the direction of the novel.
In the novel, many of the characters are provided with names of either biblical or
mythological descent. These such names provide insight as to the identity of the
character in the novel and further the purpose of the character in the progression of
the plot. Many of the children s names were chosen at birth by sticking a pin into the
Child Care Settings
Over the last decades, there has been increasing concern in establishing of education
and care settings in Australia. This essay will introduce five key influences on the
establishing of education and care settings in Australia, the similarities and
differences between the Quality Improvement Accreditation System (QIAS) and the
current National Quality Framework (NQF).
Maybanke Anderson and Lillian de Lissa as well as other people were pioneer who
led the movement to early childhood education and care in Australia (Organisation for
Economic Cooperation and Development [OECD], 2000). Educational thinkers
including Froebel and Pestalozzi and the associated development of preschool

The Commonwealth facilitated childcare by introducing standardized fee relief
for children in uncommercial center based long day care centers in 1984 (Social
Policy Group, 1997 98). Fee relief was the essential avenue through which the
Commonwealth funded childcare places and the purpose was to help low income
families or median income households with the expenses of quality child care
services (Social Policy Group, 1995). From 1985 to 1987, more childcare services
were provided, for example, approximately 11000 new center based long day care
places and 5650 family day care places were afforded (Social Policy Group, 1997
98). The Childcare Assistance ensured that parents on low and middle incomes could
be benefited due to its strictly targeted nature (Social Policy Group,
The Role Of Hardware And Software Improved Over Time
Since the release of Donkey Kong in 1981, platforming based video games have
been concerned with reaching a goal. From the early 1980s to the late 1990s,
obtaining the objective fell under a linear, two point process. For example, in
Super Mario Bros, the player must guide the plumber to a flagpole in order to
complete a level. Once the player completes the thirty second stage, he achieves the
substantial goal of saving the princess. In contrast to the Mega Man series, the hero
must annihilate eight robot masters before defeating a diabolical, mad scientist.
Essentially, the player is tasked to complete an underlying objective before moving
to the ultimate goal. However, as the aspects of hardware and software improved
over time, game... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film is broken down into three attempts. While the events in the plot changes
in each run, the two point process is still embedded with the same exact goal. Lola
must obtain the money (the preliminary goal) and deliver it to Manni (the ultimate
goal¬). In order to explain what I mean, I will break down the first run followed
by a summary of the second run. In the first run, Lola starts by running out of her
apartment building via an animated sequence, passing a man and his dog. Then,
the film transitions back to live action, where Lola is sprinting on the streets.
Suddenly, she bumps into a woman and her baby carriage. After a rushed apology,
Lola runs along the side of a bicyclist who attempts to sell his bike to the
protagonist. She refuses and keeps sprinting. As she gets closer to her bank (in
hopes of accomplishing the preliminary goal), she nearly gets hit by a car, causing
a crash due to distracted driving. While Lola rushes into the bank, her father asks a
mistress if he wants to have a baby with him. Suddenly, and to her father s surprise,
Lola enters her father s office and asks for one hundred thousand German marks.
However, in this one scene alone, Lola meets the mistress, learns that the mistress is
pregnant, and finally knows that her father is not biologically related to her and that
he plans to elope with the mistress. Lola s emotions

I immediately contacted Helen Williams (UNISON representative) and Paul
Wilkinson (Band 8 Manager) via my personal Email and notified her of my
situation, and how desperate I am not to miss out on this opportunity. I also
mentioned how I am fully trained on all the benches in Virology, and feel more than
competent to undertake this job role. On several occasions, I have received positive
feedback from my Senior Colleagues and Manger Paul Wilkinson with regards to my
practical laboratory work.
On the day of my interview, I was anxious because of the contact I made with
UNISON to re arrange the interview date for me. On the conclusion of the
interview, I was asked whether I have any problems working during the hours of
8am till 8pm. I replied absolutely not. Dawn further investigated asking if I
previously volunteered to work those hours. She then exclaimed that someone has
told them I cannot work those hours. I then explained that there was one occasion
where I was asked whether I can come in at 08:00am till 16:30pm, but due to my ill
health I was not able to do so. My normal working hours were 9:30am till 6pm.
The incident I was referred to in the interview occurred back in September where
my Line Manager Louise asked me if I could come into work Early on the 27th and
29th of September. This was immediately after I returned to work from being off
due to sickness, where I was only just recovering from a
Social And Psychological Needs For Clean Drinking Water
Humans are complex beings because unlike animals, we need more than just food
and water to survive. Most living creatures depend on food and water to meet their
fundamental needs for survival. Likewise, humans also require these basic needs,
but we also have large egos that need to be satisfied. As privileged members of a
well developed society, we do not see how fortunate we are to have easy access to
unlimited amounts of fresh clean water. All of our basic needs are easily met, so the
focus for most of us is to fulfil our social and psychological needs. Can you imagine
the women and children lined up at the verge of dehydration, burning in the hot
African sun for clean drinking water? Did you feel pity for the helpless population,
desperately in need of an essential? Would you feel that same pity for the helpless
crowds in first world countries trying to be socially accepted? Whatever the
answer may be, we have become paralyzed, paralyzed by the desire to be wanted.
In this way, we become very self centred because, while the literal thirst for people in
developing nations is a major issue of concern, the thirst for social acceptancein our
westernized world seems to be the primary focus of our society. Therefore, the sense
of belonging is now becoming more destructive than dehydration.
To begin with, one of the most vital and influential time of one s life is during their
school years as it is the portal to finding one s identity. My first few days of grade
Zavestoki, Shulman, And Schlosberg s The Unknown Citizen
The main idea in the short story, The Unknown Citizen, is about an overly
controlling government that regulates every aspect of a citizen s lives. Each of the
branches of this government declared this unknown man was a hard worker, nice,
and served the greater community because he was part of a whole and had lost his
individuality. Much as in The Unknown Citizen, society is leaning towards a too
strong government. The main ideas of this poem reflect a very real society that is
filled with complacent and controlled citizens through the world of the internet. The
individual in the poem made sure to do everything that he was instructed because he
did not want to disturb the regime. He had become complacent in the controlled
atmosphere of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The specter of big brother has haunted computerization from the beginning.
Computerized personal record keeping systems, in the hands of police and
intelligence agencies clearly extended the surveillance capabilities of the state
(Solove).
The real life computerized record keeping systems mirror the many departments in the
poem that dictate every detail of the citizens lives. This even extends to colleges are
analyzing all kinds of student data to figure out who needs extra support and when
advisers and faculty should intervene. But as technology advances, and students
offline and online lives become more intertwined, data analytics may raise more
ethical questions (Quinton).
Though it appears that all of the citizens were mindlessly following this Greater
Community, the narrator of this poem was trying to show how everyone was not
following orders and was not part of the system. The narrator was trying to show
the people who saw this statue that accepting what the government does is not
always the course to follow. The bureaucrat who wrote about the unknown citizen
wanted people to question and not to bow to those little changes which really won t
affect our programs we are in effect giving to Big Brother and going in the way of

The Temporal Trends And Spatial Pattern Of Tornado
Activity
DISCUSSION The results from the Analytical phase of the project yielded useful
information on the temporal trends and spatial pattern of tornado activity in the state
of Georgia. Before discussing the results, it is worth recalling that only strong
tornadoes were studied in this project. Strong tornadoes, in this case, is defined by
having an F3 or higher rating on the Fujita Scaleand an EF 3 or higher rating on the
Enhanced Fujita Scale. The reason for excluding weaker tornadoes is to attempt to
account for any reporting or technological bias inherent in studying report data over a
long stretch of time. By plotting the tornadofrequency on the y axis and the years on
the x axis, we can discern a trend in the number of the tornadoes... Show more content

Perhaps the second most apparent detail shown in Figure 4 is the dramatic lack of
strong tornadoes in June through October. During this time period, there hasn t been
one strong tornado since 1966. It is likely the case that conditions in Georgia during
this time are simply not ideal for the formation of tornadoes. Note, that this is not
same as saying thunderstorms are not typically formed during this time. Given the
heat and humidity between June and August, this is likely the time of year where
most storms form. However, during summer and early parts of fall, there is a
noticeable lack of a cold front to provide the wind shear necessary for tornadoes.
Prior to learning how tornadoes form, one might also be shocked to see tornadoes
form so readily in January and February. These are usually cold times of the year for
Georgia and cold weather is usually not conducive for thunderstorms. Incidentally,
when taking into account the cold fronts and wind shear, it is not so unusual to see
more tornadoes form in winter than in the summer. Notice also the trend line. The
trend line fit is not exact and this would be a reasonable result. Temperature and
climate condition do not change in one direction over the course of a year.
This project also looked at tornado frequency during different times of the day. The
result of this analysis is displayed in Figure 5. Tornado activity is usually greatest

NSDAP Memorabilia As A Collector s Delight
NSDAP Memorabilia as a Collector s Delight NSDAP was a Germany s political
party that worked from1920 1945. It stands for Nationalsozialistische Deutsche
Arbeiterpartei (National Socialist German Workers Party). They practiced the
beliefs of Nazism. These people fought against the uprising of the communism in
WW1. The Nazis were all about Pseudo scientific racism; means that they wanted to
unite the pure Germans and excluded the people who were inferior (physically or
mentally), political rebels or foreigners. These were the people who were the cause
of The Holocaust. The Nazi symbols consisted of Red and Black color, referring to
blood and soil and used the sign of Swastika. The Nazi s Party flag consisted of the
swastika in a white disk, surrounded by red color. The next symbol was of the
German Eagle standing over the sign of the swastika. If the eagle was facing left, it
symbolizes Nazi Party.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the same way many people have been collecting the NSDAP memorabilia. These
people are obsessed with everything related to the WW2, German Nazi Party and
its Allied forces. Many people call them crazy, but now a day, it is known as the
collector s delight. Some reasons to collect the NSDAP collectibles and souvenirs are:
1.People want to learn, know and understand about the WW2 and its history.
2.People are collecting this Nazi memorabilia, for fun as it is a different and unique
kind of collection and many people are shocked when they see such type of collection.
3.People also collect this to show the items that glorify the hatred, racism, intolerance,
violence.
4.Some think that these are the keepsakes of the German army s

The Signalman by Charles Dickens and The Red Room by H.G. Wells
To be denied of information as a reader is far more powerful than to know the truth.
In this assignment I will be looking at the two short stories written in the 1800 s:
The Red Room by H.G.Wells where a man goes into an apparently haunted room and
although he is warned by other old characters he does not listen and the tension
builds up as he goes into the room where fear gets the better of him in a room which
might not be haunted in the end. The other short story is The Signalman by
Charles Dickens. In The signalman a man lives separated from the real world living
a lonely life as a signal man at a train station and thinks he might be being visited by
... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structures of the two stories are structured to create and sustain suspense. Both
Dickens and Wells try to build up suspense in the beginning of the stories and to
add to the tension the stories end with mystery and lead you to your own
interpretation of what could have happened. The Signalman opens with the quote
Halloa! Below there this short, but effective line becomes very decisive as the
story goes on. We don t know whose speaking and so creates tension already. The
man he is shouting at below looks round to face the tunnel Looked down the line .
Any normal person would look upwards in response to this. Dickens is creating the
unexplainable which builds up the tension and suspense. It is the Described that The
Signalman thinks the narrator is a ghost and visa versa, The monstrous thought came
into my mind as I perused the fixed eyes and the saturnine face, that this was a spirit,
not a man . This immediately hints the involvement of the supernatural which can
build suspense and mystery to the story. Commenting on the atmosphere around him
the narrator tells that it struck chill to me, as if I had left the natural world. The end
of The Signalman is full of mystery after the suspense is built through out. When the
narrator went in the morning to the signalman s box and finds him dead, under the
danger light peacefully it is very strange and mysterious because he knew his job
very well and was very safe I should

Hearing Loss In America
When you look at someone that you have never met before, you don t immediately
assume that they are deaf, but so much of the population in the world are deaf. One
in five hundred children in America are born without the ability to hear, and usually
are born to parents that do have hearing. Hearing loss in adults can either be
inherited from your parents or acquired from illness, ototoxic (ear damaging) drugs,
exposure to loud noise, tumors, head injury, or the aging process. This loss may
occur by itself or with tinnitus (ringing in the ears). (ASHA). Fifteen percent of the
american population over the of 18 have hearingproblems that could last their entire
life. This is some much of the population, and we don t give it enough recognition.

Working For A Network Administration
Working for a Network 1.Network Administration is a broad term, but is usually
associated with one job, working with computers, fixing networks, and turning the

because of the variety of jobs that have to be performed by an administrator. I chose
this job for a few different reasons, for one, I enjoy working with computers. That s
been my hobby for years now and will continue to be as technology keeps growing.

A League Of Their Own Narrative Analysis
This section employs narrative analysis to the story A League of Their Own in
order to highlight the moral of the film that women have a choice over their future
and do not have to be stay at home mothers. Once again, a story needs a plot with a
beginning, middle, and end (Sellnow, 2014, p. 60). Dottie and Kit s story begins in
the small farm town where they work at the dairy and play ball for fun. During a
game, a recruiter takes notice of Dottie, then from there, Dottie and Kit s baseball
career takes off. Their upward progression proves that anything is possible. Tensions
run high between sisters Dottie and Kit. Kit hates how good Dottie is at baseball and
does not believe that Dottie wants to even be on the team. All the while, Dottie does
not understand Kit s frustration. Dottie tells Mr. Lowenstein she is leaving if she is
not put on another team. Instead, Kit gets put on another team.
The climax of the story is reached, Dottie and Kit have a critical conversation where
they share their true feelings with one another. It is at this moment that Dottie
realizes she really does not know why she is still in the league. In relevance to the
moral, Kit is expressive about her love for baseball, while Dottie seems to detach
herself. She knows that when her husband comes back from the Army, she must go
back to him because, sticking to the bandwagon, Dottie believes she should remain a
housewife. Meanwhile, Kit does trust this outlook on life and she accepts the view
that she can choose a different course for her life. During this confrontation, the
audience is able to see the split of ideals of what one s life should reflect. They can
see that Dottie is stuck in the mindset of staying home and raising children, while Kit
is up to date with modern society by understanding that there is so much more to her
life than what society says she should be.
In examination of the text, one of the first steps is to describe the setting (Sellnow,
2014, p. 55). The story takes place in a small farm town in Oregon where no one
really makes anything of themselves. Dottie and Kit leave this setting to demonstrate
that taking chances and following one s dreams can make their life great. Dottie and
Kit go against the norm of
Compare And Contrast The Fall Of The House Of Usher
The two main components of The Fall of the House of Usher are the narrator
coming to visit Usher and Usher s grief and illness. Both plot points are connected
by the concept of friendship. The narrator only ends up at the house of Usher
because he was friends with Usher when they were young. Upon receiving the letter
from his childhood friend, the narrator felt the urgency in Usher s tone and
immediately went to assist him. The narrator was indeed his only personal friend
and Usher hoped that the narrator s presence would help provide some alleviation
of his malady (Poe). Once at the house of Usher the narrator did everything he knew
how to help Usher, but nothing could fully help Usher s superstitious mind. Usher s
grief and illness are
Paolo Veronese
Mannerism is a period of European art that bridges concepts from both the idealized
style of Renaissance art and the melodramatic theatrics of the Baroque. One of the
most prominent Italian painters of this period is Paolo Veronese, who studied under
Titan and earned the title of a master colorist. Some of Veronese s works are on
campus as part of the Blanton Museum s Suida Manning collection. Annunciation is a
mannerist painting by Veronese in this collection, whose title refers to the
announcement of the Incarnation by the angel Gabriel to Virgin Mary of her
conception of Christ. I believe that this painting embodies all the most interesting
aspects of mannerism, while presenting Veronese s mastery of the color range and
light manipulation.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The artist s mastery of hues and values help create a glowing and relaxing
atmosphere. Many complex contemporary and pastel colors are used in their pure
saturated form, such as turquoise, fuchsia, and cerulean. The genius is in the
gradations in value because they make the clothing look very lifelike. The drapery
conveys a silky, velvety sheen thanks to the range of these color values and the
silvery white paint used that illustrates light reflecting off of these clothes. There
seems to be a light source out of view to the left of the viewer, and its role is crucial.
Since he is renowned for his colorist skills, light can really bring out Veronese s
artistry; from the shimmer of Gabriel s robe to the shadows cast on the floor and

Effects Of Religion On The Northern Africa And Southern
Asia
Effect of Religion and Oil in Northern Africa and Southwestern Asia
The Northern part of Africa (Maghreb) and the Southwestern Asia regions
constituting Levant, Anatolia and Mesopotamia are considered to be the birthplace
of the world s 3 major religions. Also, this region accounts for more than 60% of the
world s oil reserves. Religions have had significant effects on the region adding to its
strengths and detriments just as has oil contributing to its growth and at the same
time its wars.
Cities such as Jerusalem are considered to have been sites for important events
directly affecting each of the religions aforementioned. As a result, the different
religious groups have been fighting to have control of the specific regional sites such
as the Western Wall, Dome of Rock and the Church of Nativity (Rowntree et al.,
2011). For example, there have been conflicts between Israel versus Palestine for
Jerusalem to protect their sacred grounds; and the Israeli Iranian conflict that would
spur trouble even to the US. Earlier in history, the religious trends involved the Judeo
Christian practices of monotheism until after A.D 622 when the advent of Islam saw
the region becoming overwhelmingly Islamic. The development of Islam spurred the
growth of Islamic fundamentalism that advocated for preservation of Islamic
customs, fusion of civil governance and religious rule, and challenged western
popular culture. Consequently, theocratic states such as Iran were established.

The type of Iron the body takes in can prevent the intoxication of Iron. High levels
Heme Iron, found in animals and their by products, can harm the body and increase
the chance of chronic diseases. Nonheme Iron, found in plant based diets, is healthy
even in overconsumption. The intake of vitamins and nutrients in the body is
absorbed through one way: fats (Truesdell). When fat is carried into the body s
digestive system, it is broken down in the small intestine into lipids that are then
broken down into amino acids. The problem that has risen in western diets is the
type and amount of fat an American consumes. The type of fat found in animal
products is saturated, which means that the fat molecule has no chemical that can
break down the fat (Disabled). Because of the body unable to breakdown these fats,
saturated fats is a main culprit to the increased amount of chronic diseases. People
should not eliminate all fat from the body or else they can be as malnourished as
someone who overuses those fats. Instead, foods, like plants and grain oils, have
amounts of unsaturated fat that are good for the body s nourishment in vitamins and
are easy to break down through the digestive process (Truesdell).
The injections of chemicals in our meats and dairy have also found a positive

Its weaknesses are that I care too much about my wants and needs without considering

A model that I have not internalized is the belief that a person should find their own

that people can follow their dreams and have freedom. A weakness of this model is
that people are usually driven by their sexual drives while ignoring many important

A Brief Biography of Tiger Woods Essay
Every day on the golf course is about making little adjustments, taking what you ve
got on that day and finding the way to deal with it. Tiger Woods. Not only does
this quote relate to Golf, but it can be related to what Tiger stands for as an
individual. Tiger, even at a young age was treated as one of the best golfers ever to
have lived. He was beating professionals such as John Daly at the age of 13 years
old. Also at that young age he was being recruited by many high level colleges,
including Stanford, University of Las Vegas or UNLV, and Washington University.
College was only a small step for Tiger, he had his mind on a bigger goal. Becoming
the best golfer to ever walk the earth. Although not everything was easy for Tiger.

This inspired Tiger to overcome stereotypes who started to hone his golf game at the
age of about nine months. Most people of Tiger s heritage would take up the game
of football, basketball, or baseball. However Tiger was a natural for golf breaking
fifty at the age of three at the navy golf course. This is where Tiger would develop
his game in his youth. At the age of three he appeared on the Mike Douglas show
and had a three hole putting contest against Bob Hope. Tiger ended up losing, and
blamed that the greens they played were unfair to play. This shows that even at the
age of three Tiger was a fierce competitor. Society played a major impact in Tiger s
life. At this time the only people who played golf were mainly just white. Tiger
broke this barrier, and people were not sure at how it would play out, but now he
has been the biggest thing that ever has happened to any sport in the world. Tiger
is arguably the best golfer ever to live. His results on the course speak for themselves.

Uncle Tom s Cabin Rhetorical Devices
Uncle Tom s Cabin is one of the world famous stories which depict the evil of
slavery. After reading the book, the audience will acknowledge the affliction of
slaves at that time. The reason is Stowe makes use of many strategies such as
rhetorical devices and persuasive elements to reinforce her central claim: it is time
for people to fight against slavery. Symbolization is one of the important rhetorical
devices. Each character in the book stands for a group of citizens in the society.
Tom represents the slaves who are loyal and afraid of rebellion while George and
Eliza stand for brave slaves who are not willing to be controlled by owners.
Through the whole story, Eva is an essential character. Unlike Uncle Tom and

always chats with Uncle Tom, and they talk about Bible. She persuades Topsy, one
of the slaves, that everyone can enjoy a happy life. What s more, she tries to touch
the heart of her stubborn aunt. Unfortunately, Eva passes away because of illness.
From my personal perspective, Eva stands for somebody in the society as well.
Obviously, Eva is only a weak girl with little strength and authority. However, she
notices the evil of slavery and tries to influence the people around her. Nevertheless,
she dies at an extremely young age. Undoubtedly, her tragedy is a kind of irony
which alludes to the difficulty of altering people s opinions about slavery at that
time. Moreover, I consider her experience stands for a group of abolitionists who are
not strong enough to influence the society. Eva s death represents the failures of those

It is about a boy named Percy Jackson who finds out that he is the son of the Greek

/Differences_from_the_book, it tells many differences between the books and the
film. In the book Percy Jackson: The lightning thief, Percy Jackson and Annabelle
are supposed to be 12 years old. Annabelle has curly blonde hair and grey eyes. In
the movie, Annabelle and Percy are 16 year old. I know this because on the
website : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qCJ1bzD_dQ, Percy meets
Annabelle for the first time, she has a totally different appearance in that part of
the movie, then in the book. Annabelle also ends up with straight brown hair and
blue eyes. Another thing is that in the book Percy does not own any type of
electronic device, because they attract monsters. In the book,he uses a glass ball to
defeat Medusa. In the movie, Percy has an iPod tough. Medusa was seen through
the reflection of his iPod touch. In conclusion, The book and and the movie of
Percy Jackson: The lightning thief, have many similarities and differences. The
book is more descriptive, you can picture what is happening in your mind. In the
movie, it is more realistic. You don t have to guess what s happening, you can see it

Nursing Shortage In Nursing
How nervous and worried should one patient be when he or she presses the call
button for a nurse and they don t show up for an hour? Nurses are becoming
worried because of their departments are very understaffed and are scared that their
patients are in danger. I conducted an interview with Jeanne Kenndey from Ivinson
hospital in Laramie Wyoming, and she stated; we really short staffed and we can t
schedule for the Acuity and the amount of patients we get so we just have to work
with what we have and hope for the best so it s really unpredictable of how we are
going to be able to take care of people She described to me why it was this way;
yesterday was really hard we were really busy you were short staffed and we had a
bunch of sick patients that if anything had gone wrong it could have been really bad
Even in small towns being short staffed is becoming an issue and every nurseis scared
that their department will fail in an attempt to save everyone. In a study ran by
multiple individuals who have their PHD such as; Linda H Aikens, PHD, RN; they
found that in the hospital setting every 100 patients who died where with nurses who
were assigned 4 patients, but 131 patients died when nurses were assigned 8 patients.

Accounting Game Of Deyonne Essay

Accounting game 1:

Two carts 6. An ox
Deyonne s liabilities and deduction of assets: 1. 35 sheep 2. 3 sheep
Due to the information, 20 acres of land equal 80 sheep according to the exchange
rate of last year, a one room cabin equal 3 acres of land and equal 12 sheep finally, a
plow equals 2 goat and equal 2/3 sheep according to last year s exchange rate and 2
carts which were traded with a poor acre of land equals 8 sheep plus 400 sheep. So
Deyonne s total assets are 500(2/3) sheep. Deyonne s liabilities and assets deduction

Therefore, Batonne is wealthier. Accounting game2: Deyonne s income of current
year: 80 sheep Deyonne s loss of current year: 1 ox (equals 5 sheep) Batonne s
income of current year: 1. 20 sheep 2. 40 sheep (which were traded for 10 acres of
land) 3. 5 coats (which worth 25 goats and equal 8(1/3) sheep finally) Explanations:
1. Because it is the comparison of income, the loss of Deyonne cannot be deducted
from the total amount of his income. 2. Batonne traded 40 sheep for 10 acres of
additional land, but the sheep derived from his income. So the 40 sheep should
also be counted as his income. 3. Batonne s wife received 25 goats due to order of
sailing, which should be regarded as part of income. But the other order, which
has not been realized, cannot be regarded as income. 4. As for the 18 sheep that
Batonne traded for food and clothing items and 7 sheep that Deyonne did similarly,
they were part of their original property. So they cannot be regarded as income.
Consequently, according to the information, Deyonne s income of last year was
80 sheep, while Batonne s income was that 20 sheep plus 40 sheep that were
traded for 10 additional land and 5 coats equaling 8(1/3) sheep. Therefore, Deyonne s
income of 80 sheep was versus Batonne s income of 68(1/3) sheep. Deyonne s
income was greater for the past
Kramer Vs Kramer Summary
Upon reviewing the film Kramer vs. Kramer, I will provide a brief summary and
cover self esteem, sympathy, and psychological interferences.
The movie Kramer vs. Kramer follows a young married couple living in New York.
The wife s name is Joanna Kramer and the husband is Ted Kramer. Through the
first few scenes of the movie you find out that Joanna is very depressed due to her
marriage and decides to file for divorce. This leaves Ted with the tremendous task of
caring for their young son Billy. All the while he must maintain a job and build a
relationship with his son.
First let s look at self esteem and how it plays a role in the film. Self esteem is how
confident we are In ourselves, and our abilities to do things. In the film Joanna has
very low self esteem. When Joanna decides to get a divorce from Ted she blames
herself. She claims that she was an awful wife. She also believes that Ted was
unhappy during the marriage due to her. Another example of Joanna s low self
esteem is when she comes back to talk to Ted over dinner a few months after she left
him. Joanna tells Ted that she felt she was an unfit mother. This caused her to leave
her only child behind. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

are introduced to another character Margaret. Margaret is one of Joanna s best
friends. Through the movie Margaret and Ted begin getting closer and closer. Ted
often expresses how horrible he feels for Margaret after her ex husband Charlie
walked out on her. Margaret also shows sympathy towards Ted s situation. Due to Ted
always being at work he was never really able to learn how to be a parent. So,
Margaret steps in and helps care for Billy. She even promises to take Billy if
anything were to happen to Ted in the near
The Famous Concept Of Scientific Management
The famous concept of Scientific Management was originated by Frederick W.
Taylor few centuries ago. Scientific management is a way of organizing and
administrating the industry with its own system involving rules, methods and
policies (Thompson, 1916). His goal was to standardize and connect all the current
improvements in industrial organization and to push it further according to his
concept (Thompson, 1914). His work later gave inspiration to many researches
from other fields (Wren, 2011). On the other hand, Elton Mayo research later on the
Hawthorne Experiment has deviated the industrial psychology from what relates the
worker s relationship to his job instead to workers prioritizing work relations and
attitude (Cubbon, 1969). Elton Mayo then develops the concept of Human Relations
by studying the workers in groups instead of how Taylor did by studying workers as
individual. Through this, he noticed workers prefer working in groups and it even
increases the productivity of the work place. (Ionescu Negrusa, 2013).
According to Scientific management, workers were assumed to be passive and
reluctant to put in all their effort without the interference of the management. They
also try to minimise and even avert responsibility (Hekman, 2002). Besides, it is
inferred that workers have cooperation dilemma where some workers try to
disadvantage their own colleagues by doing less work but still earning the same
profit, known also as the soldiering behaviour (Wagner Tsukamoto,

From 1919, Vyse worked single handedly in his Cheyne Row studio. However, it
soon became apparent to Vyse that he required a capable assistant to relieve him of
minor studio chores. For instance, the making of secondary plaster moulds was a
time consuming process, which Vyse felt he could not spare. Bertha White (1900 nd.)

D.H. Lawrence s novel Sons and Lovers explores the significant family and
companionate relationships of early adulthood. Unfortunately, and possibly
unbeknownst to Lawrence himself, the relationships in the novel are often abusive,
triangulated, and otherwise inappropriate. Many of these distorted connections may
stem from the unconscious and cyclical perceptions of loveby the characters. In D.H.
Lawrence s novel, Sons and Lovers, each character s view of love is shaped by
observing his parents relationship, causing Mrs. Morel and her sons to perceive love

When William first gets sick, the doctor describes the illness as pneumonia, and,
he said, a peculiar erysipelas, [a skin disease], which had started under the chin
where the collar chafed, and was spreading over the face . The fact that William s
illness targeted his lungs and the area around his throat alludes to death by
strangulation, as he is pulled between his domineering mother and a fiancГ© whom
he wants to be able to love. Mrs. Morel mourns for her son, unaware of her role in
his demise, and she continues to perpetuate her love as dominance cycle with Paul.
Mrs. Morel imposes upon Paul s relationship with Miriam. Gertrude constantly tells
Paul how common Miriam is, and waits up late for him, like his wife, when he
stays out late with Miriam, trying to make him feel guilty. Paul even realizes at the
end of the novel that his mother has been the root of his failed relationships, and he
asserts that I shall never meet the right woman while you live . Paul s only means of
freeing himself from his mother s dominance is to kill her, another dominating act
disguised as love, following Gertrude s path.
The two sons that Gertrude most loved and dominated also seem to feel that
domination is true love, thereby following in Gertrude s footsteps, both sons abusing
their lovers. William as a child emits some of the same sentiments as his mother when
she was young.
Rufus Stillman House
For the critical essay assignment I specifically chose the building called the Rufus
Stillman House. The House is located in Litchfield, Connecticut and was built in
1950 by the architect Marcel Breuer. Marcel Breuer became acquainted with this
couple, Rufus and Leslie Stillmen, in 1949. They became acquainted when Breuer s
work of his demonstration housethat was on display in a courtyard at the Museum of
Modern Art, which is located in New York. The couple hired Marcel Breuer to design
a modern house for their property in Litchfield. The Stillman House was the resulting
structure.
The structure was built in 1950 and is known as Stillman House I. The design of
the house brought together the mix of modern style and Colonial Revival, the house
is considered to be mid century modern style while it was built in a town that is
primarily used to Colonial Revival style. The house contains an outdoor swimming
pool with a mural painted by Breuer s friend, Alexander Calder. The Stillman sold
this house, the original, when they moved into the second home that Breuer built for
them, called Stillman II, and then decided to purchase it back and continue to reside
there. Breuer built two other houses for them, along with this one, however, Stillman

Pablo Picasso Contributions
Pablo Picasso was a significant man. During the twentieth century he was known as
one of the most influential artist. Picasso was not a man to jump in the boat of
mainstream. If society had a ranking chart, he would be at the top in the art realm.
Creating ones own type of art shows characteristics of adaptation, loud opinions,
realness, taking head to their emotions, come to find the solutions to their problems,
and acceptance.
As a little boy born in Malaga, Spain on October 25, 1881, his parents did not know
he would be a child prodigy. An expatriate painter, sculptor, printmaker, ceramicist,
and stage designer; just shows how diverse he was. Not just a basic love for art did
he have, some say he was radical in his work. Over thee fourths of his life, he
devoted his whole being to his art, he believed this was the best thing for his body.
As a 14 year old, he began putting his work out in the open. He believed that leaving
Spain and set out towards Paris would help him further his love for art.
A young boy with self confidence, strong will, and a mind focused on enormous
dreams. From a young age Pablo knew he wanted to be a creator. He wanted to
paint, sculpt, draw, etc. for the entertainment of others. His father was also an
artist, so here is where Picasso found his love for art. Growing up around his
fathers relish and passion for art; he was accustomed to the things an artist has to
do to pursue their dream. Picasso also saw his father as an educator, as he was a
professor at the school of fine arts as well as a curator at the museum in Malaga.
When he grew old enough, Picasso studied under his father for one year at the
school of fine arts: then he decided to transfer to the Academy of Arts for one year.
Not knowing at the time he was going to move to Paris to practice new styles.
During that time he was working from the Blue period to the Rose period. As these
periods were going on he was practicing mastering Cubism, Surrealism, and Realism.
Georges Braque s made a contribution to Picasso in the thought of creating Cubism:
as where Picasso made major contributions in the creating of Symbolism and
Surrealism. Picasso invented the collage; this is sticking pre existing materials into
new designs.

trying, it is ok. Then, she tried another set with different designs for her tower.
Then, after a few minutes she made it and said I did it. While Damien was walking
around her piece, Daphne said, be careful. Damien went to the container and found
a dish. Daphne said to her mom, Look Mama, while pointing to a dish. Then, her
mom said, he found a dish. Damien kept looking around and found an animal
fence. Damien added some wooden blocks to Daphne s tower. The wooden block
stayed still and Daphne said, Thanks. Damien added again some wooden blocks

Examples Of Hunger In Night By Elie Wiesel
Hunger made Elie and his father only closer, but everyone has to eat. The quote is
after Elie and his father ran more than 20 kilometers from Auschwitz to an
abandoned village. Being hungry, thirsty, and especially exhausted would be the
only things a person would think if they had done the march while hungry and
thirsty. But Elie comes said that quote to prove the strength of the bond between him
and his father. Another time in which the prisoners marched was running to
Gleiwitz. They stayed there for three days with no food or water, the prisoners were
moved into roofless cattle cars, almost 100 people in a car. The prisoners were
handed the usual ration before getting on the train and ate snow in order to quench
their thirst. Many of the prisoners are all in a condition not fit enough to make a
march, but there was something pushing those people to keep on surviving. Elie
had witnessed another father and son in the group, however they did not have a
bond like his. Starvation drives people to their limits sometimes and cannot handle
themselves. Meir was beating up his own father for some crumbs of bread,
meanwhile the father is pleading with his son to not kill him, Meir, my little Meir!
Don t you recognize me... you re killing your father... I have bread... for you too...
for you too... (Wiesel 101). Then, he searched his father s body just for the crumbs,
however other prisoners jumped on top of Meir, looking for the same miniscule
crumbs. For Elie, he dreamed about soup and
Essay on The Rich Brother by Tobias Wolff
The short story, The Rich Brother, by Tobias Wolff represents the same concept that
everyday people all over the world encounter. This portrays how having siblings can
be an enormous part of a persons life. The rivalry between siblings is often very
competitive, but at the same time similar to magnets. When they are not connected it
may seem they are independent and whole, but when examined closely it is obvious
they are really relying on each other to function properly. Although Pete and Donald s
life are separate and completely different, they are in fact very dependent on each
other.
The meaning of dependence is the act of being influenced, relying on, or needing
someone for aid or support. Dependence is one of the main ... Show more content on

Even thought Pete does not show caring emotions, his actions say all the words. For
example: Donald said, Pete do you ever dream about me? Pete replied with, What
kind of question is that? Of course I don t dream about you. He said untruthfully.
(pg.367). This is one of the only parts in this short story that shows the reader a very
small part of Pete s soft side. Another example compares in a similar way that Pete
does in fact have a connection with his only brother Donald. There was something
wrong with me, and you were helping me out. Taking care of me. Just the two of
us. I don t know where everyone else was supposed to be. Pete said. (pg. 369) If
someone were to analyze only this part of the story it would portray that in his
dream he depended on Donald. When he says it was just the two of them, it gives
the reader an idea that was the way it was supposed to be, that Pete didn t need
anyone else in the world to help him but only needed the person he could truly rely
upon. Dependency is one of the main concealed habits between siblings, not only
growing up, but continuously throughout one others life. Another common
inconspicuous idiosyncrasy is rivalry. Rivalry is often associated in competition
including sports, events, and mostly a trait that seems siblings are born with. The
urge to be the best at something or to be noticed is commonly seen in children,
especially the ones similar in age that always strive for attention. In this story, Wolff

Life Is All About Taking Risks
Life is all about taking risks. However, there is a fine line between risk taking and
playing it safe. When a certain activity becomes dangerous to the health of a body, it
is time to step back and evaluate. The human skull can protect your brain to a certain
extent, but concussions occur when there is significant impact to the head without
protection to shield it from the blow. Concussions are a dangerous risk factor that
affect most teenagers involved with sports that call for physical contact, especially
football, but with cautious thinking and protection, it should be enough to prevent
them. A considerable amount of factors play into the cause of a concussions. The
human skull can protect your brain to a certain extent, but concussions occur when
there is significant impact to the head without protection to shield it from the blow.
The brain slides along the walls of inner walls of the skull, and bleeding may occur
if the impact is violent enough. The thickness of the skull, more cerebrospinal fluid,
presence of Arnold Chiari malformation, and the characteristics of the cervical spine
such as limited strength, range of motion, and flexibility may add to injury. Those
involved in a sport without certain protection are at more of a risk, especially young
people. Every concussionis different, so it is hard to predict how long someone s
recovery will be or what damage may be done. When an athlete gets injured in the
head, he or she should report it immediately rather

Comparing The Twelve Tables And The Hebrew Law
Rome s Twelve Tables and the Hebrew law Although the Roman Twelve Tables and
the Hebrew law are both early code of laws they have many differences. The rights
of woman, slaves, and the punishments for a crime are all addressed in both code
laws but are treated differently. The Twelve Tables were invented by the Romans,
attempting to make a code of laws. A commission of men were to make a code of
laws that respected all citizens way of life in 450 B.C.E. It was designed for a
simple agricultural society and proved to be inadequate for later generations. The
Hebrew law was created in 18th century B.C.E. The laws are the codes Yahweh
wanted his chosen people to live by. The only way his children could fill the
covenant between them was to obey them.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Twelve Tablets women are barely mentioned. In Rome there was many
rights men could have but women couldn t. The women shall not tear their faces
nor wail on account of the funeral (Table 10 Law 2.) This law stops woman from
crying excessively at a funeral or even tearing their faces but it says nothing of a
man tearing his face . The man of a family could choose to sell his wife and
daughter and choose life and death for his son. In the Hebrew law fathers and
mothers seem to be treated more like equals. In several laws it mentions the father
and the mother together unlike Rome. Whoever strikes father OR mother ... Whoever
curses father OR mother... (Law 60 and 61.) In the two laws above the father and
mother are stated as
The Theory Of The Mind
The mind is both rational and consciously aware in situations that demand a reactive
response. It acts as a control system that communicates between the external world
and the spiritual being, allowing reasoning to take play. For years, philosophers have
hypothesized ways to identify the minds function and capabilities. Causing both
controversy and accord, these philosophers center their theories on rationalismand
take a methodical approach towards understanding the complexity of the mind.
RenГ© Descartes believed that the mind is free Cogito ergo sum, I think, therefore I
am. The mind involves thinking, which consists of an imagination, logic, and doubt.
This relates to the concept that one actually exists and they have absolute certainty of
the truth. The thinking thing, Ras Cognitus, is separate from the physical things, Res
Extensa. Everyone is innately born with ideas; these ideas are a priori from before,
which help people conceptualize what is real and what is not. Nonetheless, Descartes
explained that there is no actual certainty of the senses because it might fool the eye
and can cause an underlying deceit of the hidden truth of what is actually real.
Descartes was an intriguing philosopher because he believed that the human body
was dualistic. He believed that the mind, the nonphysical substance, cannot affect the
physical world. In other words, the mind is separate from the body; therefore one
cannot affect the other. Notably, he emphasized that the body

William Faulkner Research Paper
Literature was and still is a very important piece in American history. American
literature was shaped by the history of the country that produced it. The 1900s was
an important time during history. The early 1900s was consumed by World War I.
Many people were affected by the war and the lasting impact it left on them, so
many writings were about the war. These people are sometimes considered the Lost
Generation . Many American writers went to Europe and wrote from there because
they were so inspired to join the literary culture of foreign cities, like Paris for
example. However, some American authors believed that if you wanted true
American literature you would need to be in America. These nationally rooted people
were called regionalists.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In his literature. his southern gothic writing style comes alive. In the short story A
Rose for Emily , it s portrayed with the small town setting, the social values that are
forever changing, how people pursue daily life, and the exertion they undergo to
find joy in it. (American Lit) People can truly feel like they are living in the old
time South through Faulkner s writing. While A Rose for Emily was one of
Faulkner s first public and famous short stories, he also wrote many more that are
very successful. As mentioned previously, his most successful work was his short
story, The Sound and the Fury . Many consider this a milestone in American
Literature. One of the most common themes seen in Faulkner s writing was very
dark, deep and detailed. Many say that Faulkner was a shy and troubled boy who
became a shy and troubled man. Throughout his life from the years of
apprenticeship through the years of great innovation and achievement to the years of
painful decline his manners tended to be formal, his statements formulaic and his
life ceremonial. Like his life, Faulkner s art serves the double purpose of deception
and expression. (1306, Red) Another common theme seen throughout Faulkner s
short stories was that the words force the reader to piece together events from a
random and broken up series of impressions experienced by multiple narrators. He

real gross domestic product of the Federal Republic of Brazil. Included as well are
data sets which display the statistics and recorded data of the real gross domestic

the afore mentioned time frame in order to accurately determine trends over a set
period of ten years. Moreover, the data and statistical evidence represented will
provide additional support for individual assertions based upon the trends in relation

Although the trough beginning at the end of 2008 through 2009 proved to be a
financial crisis; the nation s economy s solid performance during this time lead to a
strong and early recovery, which contributed to the peak of the 2010 economic
growth rate of 7.5% in real gross domestic product (U.S. Dept. of State, 2011).
(The World Bank Group, 2012).
As demonstrated above, Brazil has created a trend in rising GDP since 2003 by
steadily improving their macroeconomic stability (Central Intelligence Agency,
2012). Analysis of the rises or decreases in real GDP are the most accurate method
to determine the state of a nation s economy. The rises in Brazil s real GDP
demonstrate that this country currently has a healthy, thriving economy. In addition,
an accurate analysis of the nation s current, past, and projected GDP provides
policy makers with a basis for determining economic and fiscal policies. Currently,
Brazil s President Dilma Rousseff has indicated her intention of continuing the
former economic policies, including sound fiscal management due to the economic
growth during the former President Lula s administration (U.S. Dept. of State,
2011). As an example of Brazil s thriving real GDP; according to The World Bank,
the nominal GDP (represented in U.S. dollars) for the year 2010 was
$2,087,889,553,822 (The World Bank Group, 2012). As an economic principle, both
real and nominal GDP increase during an

Women In The Medieval Ages
After re reading chapters nine through thirteen, I came to the conclusion that women
made very few significant contributions to culture in the Medieval West. This is not
the case for lack of trying, though. It was tough for women to do much contributing in
this time period.Men of the Medieval ages already had a hostile attitude toward
womankind, intensified perhaps by women s increasing participation in some of the
commercial activities traditionally dominated by men (274). Thomas Aquinas went as
far as to question whether womanshould have been made in the first place (296).
You hear about many famous men of the Medieval times like Charlemagne, Lancelot,
and Dante, but rarely hear about the works of women. One of the reasons for this

Essays About Science

  • 1. Essays About Science Writing an essay on the topic "Essays About Science" may pose a unique set of challenges. The vastness of the subject itself can be both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, the breadth of scientific disciplines provides a plethora of interesting topics to explore, from physics to biology, chemistry to astronomy. However, this very diversity can make it daunting to narrow down your focus and choose a specific aspect to delve into. Additionally, the ever-evolving nature of scientific knowledge means that staying current with the latest research and advancements is crucial. It requires continuous effort to keep abreast of new discoveries, theories, and methodologies. This can be time-consuming, as scientific literature is often dense and complex. Furthermore, striking the right balance between technical details and accessibility for a broader audience is a delicate art. Explaining complex scientific concepts in a way that is both accurate and comprehensible to readers without a specialized background can be challenging. Crafting a compelling narrative and maintaining a coherent structure is another hurdle. Organizing your thoughts, findings, and arguments in a logical sequence while ensuring a smooth flow can demand considerable effort. Lastly, avoiding clichГ©s and injecting originality into an essay on a widely covered subject like science can be demanding. Readers often appreciate fresh perspectives and insights, but generating them requires a deep understanding of the topic and a creative approach. In conclusion, while writing an essay on the theme "Essays About Science," one must navigate through the vast sea of knowledge, keep abreast of the latest developments, strike a balance between technicality and accessibility, maintain a coherent structure, and inject a sense of originality. It's a task that requires dedication, research, and a passion for the subject. TN20 Diamond Chemicals PLC A And B е…¶A3Diamond Chemicals PLC (A) and (B) Teaching Note Synopsis and Objectives These two cases present the capital investment decisions under consideration by executives of a large chemicals firm in January 2001. The A case (case 20) presents a go/no go project evaluation regarding improvements to a polypropylene production plant. The B case (case 21) reviews the same project but from one level higher, where the executive faces an either/or investment decision between two mutually exclusive projects. The objective of the two cases is to expose students to a wide range of capital budgeting issues: A case: go/no go decision 1.The identification of relevant cash flows; in particular, the treatment of: a. sunk costs b. cash flows... Does it have any merit? The focus here should be the cannibalization issue. 4. Why did the assistant plant manager offer his suggested change? Does it have any merit? This question raises the issue of extraneous cash flows. 5.What did the analyst from the Treasury Staff mean by his comment about inflation? Do you agree with it? At this stage of the discussion, students should review the need for internally consistent assumptions about inflation. 6.How should Greystock modify his DCF analysis? This question turns to a summary of the adjustments needed to produce an acceptable DCF analysis. 7.What is the Merseyside project worth to Diamond Chemicals? Producing, in class, a revised DCF analysis helps to provide students with closure on the discussion. Plan for the B case 1.Do you endorse Eustace s analysis of the project at Rotterdam? How would you improve on it? This open ended question is intended to stimulate a critique of Eustace s analysis. The key point of objection is her inclusion of the right of way in the analysis. A brief discussion should establish that the option of the right of way should be exercised regardless of whether the project at the Rotterdam plant is undertaken. Therefore, the cash flows associated with the right of way should be separated from the rest of the Rotterdam

Bennett (1996) described that customer service seeks to establish long term, committed, trusting and cooperative relationship with customers, characterized by openness, genuine concern for the delivery of high quality services, responsiveness to customer suggestions, fair dealings and willingness to sacrifice short term advantage for long term gains. Schneider and Bowen (1999) advocated that service business can retain customers and achieve profitability by building reciprocal relationships founded on safeguarding and affirming customer security, fairness and self esteem. It requires that companies view customers as people first and consumers second. Trust, commitment, ethical practices, fulfillment of promises, mutual exchange, emotional bonding, personalization and customer orientation have been reported to be the key elements in the relationship building process (Levitt,1986; Gronroos, 1994; Morgan,1994; Gummesson,1994; Bejou et al,1998 ). Customer service refers to all business activities directed towards initiating, establishing, maintaining, and developing successful long term relational exchanges (Heide, 1994; Reinartz Kumar, 2003). One of the results of Customer service is the promotion of customer loyalty (Evans Laskin, 1994), which is considered to be a relational phenomenon, (Chow Holden, 1997; Jacoby Kyner, 1973; Sheth Parvatiyar, 1995; cited by Macintosh Lockshin,
  • 4. Theme Of Names In Song Of Solomon Jack Noble Mr. Fusco 10/13/17 Song of Solomon Names Names are apart of all cultures and have major significance to the recipients of the name and further to the society as a whole. People are identified by the name provided to them at birth. This such name can be derived from a variety of different origins, depending heavily upon what ethnicity, or culture the child is born into. A parent provides their child with a name that they believe has some kind of significance, or a deeper symbolic meaning to their family. Throughout one s life, they might acquire a number of nicknames. Nicknames can reflect how others perceive a certain person, or even how that person views himself, inferring either a positive or negative connotation. In Songs of Solomon, many characters have names that provide a deeper insight on their true identity in the novel. Whether the character is trying to escape the reality of their name or not, the name itself still establishes truth behind theirs actions and who they came from. Names in Song of Solomon ultimately establish a character s behavioral traits and cultural background, advancing the direction of the novel. In the novel, many of the characters are provided with names of either biblical or mythological descent. These such names provide insight as to the identity of the character in the novel and further the purpose of the character in the progression of the plot. Many of the children s names were chosen at birth by sticking a pin into the

This essay will introduce five key influences on the establishing of education and care settings in Australia, the similarities and differences between the Quality Improvement Accreditation System (QIAS) and the current National Quality Framework (NQF). Maybanke Anderson and Lillian de Lissa as well as other people were pioneer who led the movement to early childhood education and care in Australia (Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development [OECD], 2000). The Commonwealth facilitated childcare by introducing standardized fee relief for children in uncommercial center based long day care centers in 1984 (Social Policy Group, 1997 98). Fee relief was the essential avenue through which the Commonwealth funded childcare places and the purpose was to help low income families or median income households with the expenses of quality child care services (Social Policy Group, 1995). From 1985 to 1987, more childcare services were provided, for example, approximately 11000 new center based long day care places and 5650 family day care places were afforded (Social Policy Group, 1997 98). The Childcare Assistance ensured that parents on low and middle incomes could be benefited due to its strictly targeted nature (Social Policy Group,
  • 6. The Role Of Hardware And Software Improved Over Time Since the release of Donkey Kong in 1981, platforming based video games have been concerned with reaching a goal. From the early 1980s to the late 1990s, obtaining the objective fell under a linear, two point process. For example, in Super Mario Bros, the player must guide the plumber to a flagpole in order to complete a level. Once the player completes the thirty second stage, he achieves the substantial goal of saving the princess. In contrast to the Mega Man series, the hero must annihilate eight robot masters before defeating a diabolical, mad scientist. Essentially, the player is tasked to complete an underlying objective before moving to the ultimate goal. However, as the aspects of hardware and software improved over time, game... While the events in the plot changes in each run, the two point process is still embedded with the same exact goal. Lola must obtain the money (the preliminary goal) and deliver it to Manni (the ultimate goalВ¬). In order to explain what I mean, I will break down the first run followed by a summary of the second run. In the first run, Lola starts by running out of her apartment building via an animated sequence, passing a man and his dog. Then, the film transitions back to live action, where Lola is sprinting on the streets. Suddenly, she bumps into a woman and her baby carriage. After a rushed apology, Lola runs along the side of a bicyclist who attempts to sell his bike to the protagonist. She refuses and keeps sprinting. As she gets closer to her bank (in hopes of accomplishing the preliminary goal), she nearly gets hit by a car, causing a crash due to distracted driving. While Lola rushes into the bank, her father asks a mistress if he wants to have a baby with him. Suddenly, and to her father s surprise, Lola enters her father s office and asks for one hundred thousand German marks. However, in this one scene alone, Lola meets the mistress, learns that the mistress is pregnant, and finally knows that her father is not biologically related to her and that he plans to elope with the mistress. On Wednesday 16th November 2016 at 09:30am, I was interviewed in Lorraine Bolton s office (Head BMS), for a Band 2 MLA position in Microbiology department at Royal Preston Hospital. The panel members included Dawn Dixon (Senior Band 8 Team Leader), and Caroline Stubbs (Senior Band 7 BMS). This was my 4th interview for a Band 2 MLA position within the Microbiology department at Royal Preston Hospital. I was initially invited to attend the interview on Friday 11th November, but I was on annual leave on holiday abroad from Thursday 3rd November and was due to return on Sunday 13th November. I immediately contacted Helen Williams (UNISON representative) and Paul Wilkinson (Band 8 Manager) via my personal Email and notified her of my situation, and how desperate I am not to miss out on this opportunity. I also mentioned how I am fully trained on all the benches in Virology, and feel more than competent to undertake this job role. On several occasions, I have received positive feedback from my Senior Colleagues and Manger Paul Wilkinson with regards to my practical laboratory work. On the day of my interview, I was anxious because of the contact I made with UNISON to re arrange the interview date for me. On the conclusion of the interview, I was asked whether I have any problems working during the hours of 8am till 8pm. I replied absolutely not. Dawn further investigated asking if I previously volunteered to work those hours. She then exclaimed that someone has told them I cannot work those hours. I then explained that there was one occasion where I was asked whether I can come in at 08:00am till 16:30pm, but due to my ill health I was not able to do so. My normal working hours were 9:30am till 6pm. The incident I was referred to in the interview occurred back in September where my Line Manager Louise asked me if I could come into work Early on the 27th and 29th of September. This was immediately after I returned to work from being off due to sickness, where I was only just recovering from a
  • 8. Social And Psychological Needs For Clean Drinking Water Humans are complex beings because unlike animals, we need more than just food and water to survive. Most living creatures depend on food and water to meet their fundamental needs for survival. Likewise, humans also require these basic needs, but we also have large egos that need to be satisfied. As privileged members of a well developed society, we do not see how fortunate we are to have easy access to unlimited amounts of fresh clean water. All of our basic needs are easily met, so the focus for most of us is to fulfil our social and psychological needs. Can you imagine the women and children lined up at the verge of dehydration, burning in the hot African sun for clean drinking water? Did you feel pity for the helpless population, desperately in need of an essential? Would you feel that same pity for the helpless crowds in first world countries trying to be socially accepted? Whatever the answer may be, we have become paralyzed, paralyzed by the desire to be wanted. In this way, we become very self centred because, while the literal thirst for people in developing nations is a major issue of concern, the thirst for social acceptancein our westernized world seems to be the primary focus of our society. Therefore, the sense of belonging is now becoming more destructive than dehydration. To begin with, one of the most vital and influential time of one s life is during their school years as it is the portal to finding one s identity. My first few days of grade
  • 9. Zavestoki, Shulman, And Schlosberg s The Unknown Citizen The main idea in the short story, The Unknown Citizen, is about an overly controlling government that regulates every aspect of a citizen s lives. Each of the branches of this government declared this unknown man was a hard worker, nice, and served the greater community because he was part of a whole and had lost his individuality. Much as in The Unknown Citizen, society is leaning towards a too strong government. The main ideas of this poem reflect a very real society that is filled with complacent and controlled citizens through the world of the internet. The individual in the poem made sure to do everything that he was instructed because he did not want to disturb the regime. He had become complacent in the controlled atmosphere of his... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The specter of big brother has haunted computerization from the beginning. Computerized personal record keeping systems, in the hands of police and intelligence agencies clearly extended the surveillance capabilities of the state (Solove). The real life computerized record keeping systems mirror the many departments in the poem that dictate every detail of the citizens lives. This even extends to colleges are analyzing all kinds of student data to figure out who needs extra support and when advisers and faculty should intervene. But as technology advances, and students offline and online lives become more intertwined, data analytics may raise more ethical questions (Quinton). Though it appears that all of the citizens were mindlessly following this Greater Community, the narrator of this poem was trying to show how everyone was not following orders and was not part of the system. The narrator was trying to show the people who saw this statue that accepting what the government does is not always the course to follow. The bureaucrat who wrote about the unknown citizen wanted people to question and not to bow to those little changes which really won t affect our programs we are in effect giving to Big Brother and going in the way of 1984
  • 10. The Temporal Trends And Spatial Pattern Of Tornado Activity DISCUSSION The results from the Analytical phase of the project yielded useful information on the temporal trends and spatial pattern of tornado activity in the state of Georgia. Before discussing the results, it is worth recalling that only strong tornadoes were studied in this project. Strong tornadoes, in this case, is defined by having an F3 or higher rating on the Fujita Scaleand an EF 3 or higher rating on the Enhanced Fujita Scale. The reason for excluding weaker tornadoes is to attempt to account for any reporting or technological bias inherent in studying report data over a long stretch of time. By plotting the tornadofrequency on the y axis and the years on the x axis, we can discern a trend in the number of the tornadoes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Perhaps the second most apparent detail shown in Figure 4 is the dramatic lack of strong tornadoes in June through October. During this time period, there hasn t been one strong tornado since 1966. It is likely the case that conditions in Georgia during this time are simply not ideal for the formation of tornadoes. Note, that this is not same as saying thunderstorms are not typically formed during this time. Given the heat and humidity between June and August, this is likely the time of year where most storms form. However, during summer and early parts of fall, there is a noticeable lack of a cold front to provide the wind shear necessary for tornadoes. Prior to learning how tornadoes form, one might also be shocked to see tornadoes form so readily in January and February. These are usually cold times of the year for Georgia and cold weather is usually not conducive for thunderstorms. Incidentally, when taking into account the cold fronts and wind shear, it is not so unusual to see more tornadoes form in winter than in the summer. Notice also the trend line. The trend line fit is not exact and this would be a reasonable result. Temperature and climate condition do not change in one direction over the course of a year. This project also looked at tornado frequency during different times of the day. The result of this analysis is displayed in Figure 5. Tornado activity is usually greatest between roughly

The Signalman opens with the quote Halloa! Below there this short, but effective line becomes very decisive as the story goes on. We don t know whose speaking and so creates tension already. The man he is shouting at below looks round to face the tunnel Looked down the line . Any normal person would look upwards in response to this. It is the Described that The Signalman thinks the narrator is a ghost and visa versa, The monstrous thought came into my mind as I perused the fixed eyes and the saturnine face, that this was a spirit, not a man . This immediately hints the involvement of the supernatural which can build suspense and mystery to the story. Commenting on the atmosphere around him the narrator tells that it struck chill to me, as if I had left the natural world. The end of The Signalman is full of mystery after the suspense is built through out. • 17. A League Of Their Own Narrative Analysis This section employs narrative analysis to the story A League of Their Own in order to highlight the moral of the film that women have a choice over their future and do not have to be stay at home mothers. Once again, a story needs a plot with a beginning, middle, and end (Sellnow, 2014, p. 60). Dottie and Kit s story begins in the small farm town where they work at the dairy and play ball for fun. During a game, a recruiter takes notice of Dottie, then from there, Dottie and Kit s baseball career takes off. Their upward progression proves that anything is possible. Tensions run high between sisters Dottie and Kit. Kit hates how good Dottie is at baseball and does not believe that Dottie wants to even be on the team. All the while, Dottie does not understand Kit s frustration. Dottie tells Mr. Lowenstein she is leaving if she is not put on another team. Instead, Kit gets put on another team. The climax of the story is reached, Dottie and Kit have a critical conversation where they share their true feelings with one another. It is at this moment that Dottie realizes she really does not know why she is still in the league. In relevance to the moral, Kit is expressive about her love for baseball, while Dottie seems to detach herself. She knows that when her husband comes back from the Army, she must go back to him because, sticking to the bandwagon, Dottie believes she should remain a housewife. Meanwhile, Kit does trust this outlook on life and she accepts the view that she can choose a different course for her life. During this confrontation, the audience is able to see the split of ideals of what one s life should reflect. They can see that Dottie is stuck in the mindset of staying home and raising children, while Kit is up to date with modern society by understanding that there is so much more to her life than what society says she should be. In examination of the text, one of the first steps is to describe the setting (Sellnow, 2014, p. 55). The story takes place in a small farm town in Oregon where no one really makes anything of themselves. Dottie and Kit leave this setting to demonstrate that taking chances and following one s dreams can make their life great. Dottie and Kit go against the norm of

Religions have had significant effects on the region adding to its strengths and detriments just as has oil contributing to its growth and at the same time its wars. Because it is the comparison of income, the loss of Deyonne cannot be deducted from the total amount of his income. 2. Batonne traded 40 sheep for 10 acres of additional land, but the sheep derived from his income. So the 40 sheep should also be counted as his income. 3. • 30. The Famous Concept Of Scientific Management The famous concept of Scientific Management was originated by Frederick W. Taylor few centuries ago. Scientific management is a way of organizing and administrating the industry with its own system involving rules, methods and policies (Thompson, 1916). His goal was to standardize and connect all the current improvements in industrial organization and to push it further according to his concept (Thompson, 1914). His work later gave inspiration to many researches from other fields (Wren, 2011). On the other hand, Elton Mayo research later on the Hawthorne Experiment has deviated the industrial psychology from what relates the worker s relationship to his job instead to workers prioritizing work relations and attitude (Cubbon, 1969). Elton Mayo then develops the concept of Human Relations by studying the workers in groups instead of how Taylor did by studying workers as individual. However, it soon became apparent to Vyse that he required a capable assistant to relieve him of minor studio chores. For instance, the making of secondary plaster moulds was a time consuming process, which Vyse felt he could not spare. She was aged about nineteen when she joined Vyse at Cheyne Row.16 In her later life, when as Mrs Bertha Boydell, she corresponded with the writer J V G Mallet. It is from her letters to Mallet that one learns that when she arrived at the Cheyne Row, Vyse had only just acquired a gas fired kiln for his studio. Boydell began her apprenticeship with Vyse by undertaking the minor modelling tasks, such as making the tulip petals for the figure Tulip Woman. Unfortunately, and possibly unbeknownst to Lawrence himself, the relationships in the novel are often abusive, triangulated, and otherwise inappropriate. Many of these distorted connections may stem from the unconscious and cyclical perceptions of loveby the characters. In D.H. When William first gets sick, the doctor describes the illness as pneumonia, and, he said, a peculiar erysipelas, [a skin disease], which had started under the chin where the collar chafed, and was spreading over the face . The fact that William s illness targeted his lungs and the area around his throat alludes to death by strangulation, as he is pulled between his domineering mother and a fiancГ© whom he wants to be able to love. Mrs. Morel mourns for her son, unaware of her role in his demise, and she continues to perpetuate her love as dominance cycle with Paul. Mrs. Morel imposes upon Paul s relationship with Miriam. Gertrude constantly tells Paul how common Miriam is, and waits up late for him, like his wife, when he stays out late with Miriam, trying to make him feel guilty. Paul even realizes at the end of the novel that his mother has been the root of his failed relationships, and he asserts that I shall never meet the right woman while you live . Paul s only means of freeing himself from his mother s dominance is to kill her, another dominating act disguised as love, following Gertrude s path. The two sons that Gertrude most loved and dominated also seem to feel that domination is true love, thereby following in Gertrude s footsteps, both sons abusing their lovers. William as a child emits some of the same sentiments as his mother when she was young.

The quote is after Elie and his father ran more than 20 kilometers from Auschwitz to an abandoned village. Being hungry, thirsty, and especially exhausted would be the only things a person would think if they had done the march while hungry and thirsty. But Elie comes said that quote to prove the strength of the bond between him and his father. Another time in which the prisoners marched was running to Gleiwitz. They stayed there for three days with no food or water, the prisoners were moved into roofless cattle cars, almost 100 people in a car. The prisoners were handed the usual ration before getting on the train and ate snow in order to quench their thirst. Many of the prisoners are all in a condition not fit enough to make a march, but there was something pushing those people to keep on surviving. Elie had witnessed another father and son in the group, however they did not have a bond like his. Starvation drives people to their limits sometimes and cannot handle themselves. Don t you recognize me... you re killing your father... I have bread... for you too... for you too... (Wiesel 101). When they are not connected it may seem they are independent and whole, but when examined closely it is obvious they are really relying on each other to function properly. Of course I don t dream about you. He said untruthfully. (pg.367). This is one of the only parts in this short story that shows the reader a very small part of Pete s soft side. Another example compares in a similar way that Pete does in fact have a connection with his only brother Donald. There was something wrong with me, and you were helping me out. Taking care of me. Just the two of us. I don t know where everyone else was supposed to be. Pete said. (pg. 369) If someone were to analyze only this part of the story it would portray that in his dream he depended on Donald. When he says it was just the two of them, it gives the reader an idea that was the way it was supposed to be, that Pete didn t need anyone else in the world to help him but only needed the person he could truly rely upon. Dependency is one of the main concealed habits between siblings, not only growing up, but continuously throughout one others life. Another common inconspicuous idiosyncrasy is rivalry. Rivalry is often associated in competition including sports, events, and mostly a trait that seems siblings are born with. The urge to be the best at something or to be noticed is commonly seen in children, especially the ones similar in age that always strive for attention. In this story, Wolff includes
