Example Of An Descriptive Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Example Of A Descriptive Essay" can be both challenging and
rewarding. The difficulty lies in the balance between vividly describing the chosen subject and
maintaining a cohesive and engaging narrative. Crafting a descriptive essay requires a keen sense
of observation, a rich vocabulary, and the ability to evoke emotions through words.
To begin, one must carefully select a subject that lends itself to detailed description. Whether it's
a place, person, or object, the challenge is to bring it to life for the reader through sensory details.
This involves not only capturing visual aspects but also incorporating sounds, smells, tastes, and
textures. The goal is to transport the reader to the depicted scene, making them feel as though
they are experiencing it firsthand.
Organizing the essay poses another set of challenges. Maintaining a logical flow while
incorporating descriptive elements can be tricky. Striking the right balance between painting a
vivid picture and ensuring coherence requires careful consideration of the order of details.
Additionally, avoiding excessive use of adjectives and adverbs is essential to prevent the prose
from becoming overly verbose.
Furthermore, crafting an engaging introduction and a meaningful conclusion adds complexity.
The introduction should grab the reader's attention and set the tone for the essay, while the
conclusion should leave a lasting impression. The challenge is to create bookends that
complement the descriptive content, ensuring a satisfying and memorable reading experience.
However, despite these challenges, writing a descriptive essay offers a unique opportunity for
creativity and self-expression. It allows the writer to showcase their observational skills and the
ability to convey emotions through language. Ultimately, the difficulty lies in finding the right
words to do justice to the chosen subject, creating an immersive experience for the reader.
In conclusion, writing a descriptive essay requires a delicate balance between observation,
creativity, and organization. It is a task that challenges writers to convey a rich and immersive
experience through words. Despite the difficulties, successfully crafting a descriptive essay can
be a gratifying endeavor, allowing for the expression of creativity and the creation of a
captivating narrative.

Food Allergies And Food Intolerances
Do you remember your days of trying to fit into the typical student stereotype
during school just to be accepted by your classmates? Now imagine yourself with a
life threatening condition that must be treated immediately and left untreated could
lead to death within a matter of minutes. Children with food allergies are
constantly at risk for a life threatening reaction. Food allergies are caused by
abnormal immunological responses to a food, whereas food intolerances have a
non immunological basis (Begen). Food allergies and intolerances are classified as
a food hypersensitivity where individuals who suffer reproducible, objective
symptoms whenever they eat a particular food (Begen). The symptoms of food
allergies and intolerances differ by their severity. Food allergysymptoms include:
anaphylaxis, digestive problems, hives, rashes, and swollen airways to the point of
not being able to breathe. Food intolerance symptoms are generally delayed, in
comparison to food allergies, and include the following: diarrhea, indigestion,
nausea, vomiting, cramping and pain in the abdomen. Food allergies can affect a
person s everyday life, more than you can think. Besides the physical aspect, there is
a social aspect to having a food allergy. It can affect a person through having to eat
different foods, sit at a different table, or being excluded from an event due to the
severity of their allergy. This can be very detrimental towards school aged children
through the social aspect of
Assize Of Clarendon Essay
1.The Assize of Clarendon was first created by Henry II. What was it? It was a law
that helped organize the English law. The name applied when the Council of
Clarendon met. First off, it helped improve the criminal law, which is a law that
gave punishment to crime. It had a jury to help. The jury would tell the king s
judges about any crimes that were committed. The crimes that Henry II
commissioned were murder, theft, and robbery. The men who were punished or
subjected were punished in various ways. If a man was convicted of a severe
crime, he would receive imprisonment or an amputation of his hand or leg. All the
men who were subjected had to receive the trial of water. One of the rules of the

P1 Unit 3 Network Analysis
P1: Describe Network Technologies:
Network Operating systems: A Network operating system is the software, which runs
on the server. It allows the server to control functions within a network. This could
include users, groups and security. Some examples of these operating systems are
Windows, Linux and Mac OS.
Network protocols SNMPv3 and ICMP: SNMPv3 is an Internet standard protocol,
which manages devices on IP Networks. SNMPv3 is supported by routers and
switches. The main difference between SNMPv3 and SNMPv2 is better security. It
adds cryptographic security and more encoded security parameters. ICMP is used to
send error messages when a service isn t available. One command, which uses ICMP,
is the Ping command, which is used to test connection ... Show more content on

It allows network administrators to create a virtual server environment by using
some of the server s resources. By doing this, it creates virtual/private servers and
one of the benefits of this is that it would cost less money to use virtual servers
rather than physical servers as hardware maintenance would not be required. Also,
if one virtual server goes down, the others will still be left running. In the example
above, there are 4 physical servers. Server Virtualization only needs one physical
server to be able to create the virtual servers.
Video on Demand: Video on demand has already had a huge impact but it will
continue to grow. The more shows they manage to get for video on demand, the
more people will possibly sign up. There are already millions of people who use
Netflix all around the world and with it coming to more devices (Including game
consoles like PS4 and the Xbox One) video on demand is one of the biggest
emerging technologies out there
Values And Values Of Relationships
All relationships should have values and beliefs but all relationships must follow at
least 5 of the same beliefs and values:
Intimacy; Yes you can be intimate with your family and friends, magazines such as
Cosmopolitan and Mens health have changed what intimacy means to something
more sexual.
Trust: In any relationship romantic or family or friendship, trust is a KEY
component without or lack of it a relationship will not be able to work.
Honesty: This is more than telling the truth, it is telling the truth in a way you can
understand one another.
Respect: Respect is another key factor in any relationship, to have respect for another

Stop And Frisk, Automobile Searches, And Border And...
Though the Fourth Amendment can lay the foundation of the laws of search and
seizures and warrants, there are still many controversies as to what is classified as
a violation of an individual s Fourth Amendment rights. However, the wording of
the Fourth Amendment can be confusing as different individuals interpret privacy
in various ways. Terms that may be interpreted differently in the Fourth
Amendment can include: 1) right of privacy, 2) search, 3) seizure, 4) arrest, and 5)
reasonableness. This paper will examine how each term relates to the practice of
stop and frisk, automobile searches, and border and regulatory searches. The rights
of privacy are described to be personal belongings or home. As defined in Merriam
Webster (2015), the right to privacy is the legal right of a person to have
reasonable privacy whereas their private affairs are not made known, or their
likeness to be made public in regards to that person s habits, mode of living, and
occupation. Individuals may call upon their rights of privacy when they believe that
those rights have been violated. Situations like this may occur when an officer
searches an individuals property, or their person when performing a stop and frisk.
However the fact remains that when individuals are guilty of violating any law, those
rights are then diminished to a degree. When performing any search and seizure, law
enforcement must have a warrant. Situations when a warrant is not needed would
then fall under the Good Faith
Raising Children In Youth Sports
Every parent should always like to see their child be successful. Whether or not being
successful in sports or being successful in music or art. Lisa Mooney a publisher for
livestrong.com says, Many parents wonder whether they should encourage their
children to play sports. It is known that athletic participation aids in fighting
childhoodobesity, encourages social interaction and promotes self confidence and
independence in many children. Pushing reticent children into sports, however, can
have adverse consequences, because competition can place too much pressure to
succeed on even recreational athletes. Parents must weigh the pros and cons of
involving their children in youth sports (Mooney, 2014). Raising a childis a big
responsibility,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, placing your child in a sport and allowing them to thrive to be the best
that they can be will teach your child a tremendous amount of responsibilities.
Whether or not your child wants to play sports or not, you as a parent should be
able to stand by your child in whatever decision they may make in life. But having
your child play sports will allow them to be more active in playing and also allow
them to live a more healthy life instead of your child sitting on the couch and
watching TV. Placing children in sports can teach them many goals in life, they will
be able to use them when they grow older, especially when they reach middle or high
school level
The Omnivore s Dilemma Summary
How much do you really know about the food you eat? Reading the book The
Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollan, Getting Real About the High Price of Our
Cheap Food by Bryan Walsh, and the movie Food Inc. gave me an idea of how our
food is made and what is in it. Also reading the books gave me an idea, Michael
Pollanmostly talked about corn and Bryan Walsh talking about high prices of our
cheap food. Robert Kenner explains how we should look into our food to save us
from getting sick or becoming obese.
Michael Pollans argument is how corn is in everything we eat. His claim is, most
of what we eat is corn, in one way or another. Corn is in pills, diapers, charcoal, and
batteries. That s crazy. We don t eat batteries or diapers. When we eat our food it
just doesn t taste like a ball of corn. His evidence is corn feeds the steer that
becomes your steak, the chicken that lays your eggs, the pig that becomes your pork,
the catfish in the catfish farm, and the corn that feeds your dairy cow that becomes
your milk, cheese and ice cream. Everybody thinks since corn is a
Bunn 2 vegetable it s in all of our foods we re eating healthier and getting our
vegetables but were not. Just because corn is a vegetable doesn t mean the corn in
our food is healthy. Most of the corn in our bad foods is High Fructose Corn Syrup. It
s that sweet taste in most of our foods but just because its made out of corn doesn t
mean it s healthier for us. All that extra stuff is doing is adding
Cell Phone Technology
Cell Phone Technology The cell phone technology that is ever changing by the day
was scientifically invented and born back in the early 1980 s. Science was the
main key to the birth of the cell phone which was put together by the Motorola
Company who today is still making cell phones. Before the cell phone came out
the car phone was the first mobile phone which were very large and had to be
hooked up to a briefcase which supplied the power for the mobile phone. Science
was the utilized to create the cell phone and today the use of cell phones has brought
literature to the palm of our hands. With science as the foundation to the birth of the

Each tower carried the same number of frequencies and as the digital phone came
in more cell towers were being built. Eventually there would be hundreds of cell
towers in each city that would be able to handle the number of people with cell
phones. Currently we are now in the 4G (4th Generation) age and with that
technology we are able to do things on cell phones that we never thought we could do
30 years ago. Over the year the technology and science of cell phone has grown faster
than any other product. The technology has driven the cell phone technology to
connections around the world. It has also connected people like no other
communication device. People from around the world are now communicating and
connecting more to family, friends, and others across the country. Not only are they
talking to each other but they are also communicating now with other technology
aspects that has grown onto the cell phone age. People are now connecting through
the internet using their cell phones and people are now connecting in ways that are
changing the world. The biggest technological change in cell phones is text
messaging. The cell phone eventually became more than just a radio telephone
communication device. We then started to use the cell phone to send text messages
like a email message. Businesses around the globe had a big impact on the
technology that was built in cell phones technology. Business people around the globe

Electrolytic Enzyme Bromelain
The results demonstrated that, as shown in both Figure 1 and Graph 1, when fresh
pineapple was used the gelatin was liquefied significantly when compared with tinned
pineapple (the amount of liquefied gelatin with tinned pineapple was negligible). This
is because the protein contained in the gelatin has undergone chemical reactions
where the enzymeBromelain was present, which is not present in the tinned
pineapple. According to William V. Glider and Mark S. Hargrove, (2002), the
enzyme bromelain which is contained in the pineapple, digests the proteins in the
gelatin in a process called Hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is a chemical reactionwhere
molecule bonds breakdown in the presence of water and the attached H and OH at
the broken ends of the chain as shown in the figure 3 (L. hydro = water; Gk. lysis =
loosening or breakdown) (William V. Glider and Mark S. Hargrove, 2002).
The protein is not soluble in water due to the complex molecular structure, however,
when the protein is broken down into the building blocks of proteins, amino acids,
the amino acids are able to dissolve in the water (encyclopaedia.com, 2016). The
results of the experiment support the previous findings that the proteolytic enzyme
bromelain catalyses the breakdown of proteins into their amino acid building blocks

This may be due to differences in pineapple amount, as though measures were taken
to prevent nuance, there may have still been a difference. Furthermore, this may also
be due to variations in the time at which the splat tests were conducted. For example,
if one splat test was conducted prior to the other, the second Petri dish would have a
greater amount of time for enzyme activity to occur. Nonetheless, the significant
difference in enzyme activity is demonstrated in Graph 2, which demonstrates the
average difference in enzyme activity between tinned (1.5 cm2) and fresh pineapples

Persuasive Essay On Obesity
provoke Americans from purchasing them. Obesity could be stopped if citizens
chose better drinks in fact , obesity rates could be reduced by 1 to 4 percentage
points if sugary beverages are taxed moderately (Sahadi). By putting a tax on these
beverages Americans will be less likely to buy them. Although the percentage
change is not that high it will prevent many citizens in choosing this unhealthy
lifestyle. A risk that could result from being obese is diabetes. Diabetes is a
common disease in the U.S. today, for the average child born today, there is a 50
/50 chance, if lifestyles do not change, that they will develop Type 2 diabetes or
other physical diseases and conditions that are associated with being overweight (
11 pros ). Give a child the best opportunity they could have. Kids deserve to be fed
the right food and beverage choices, so they will be prevented from the high risk of
diabetes. Everyone should be cautious on the amount of soda they consume, one
study, for example, found for every can of soda a person drinks per day, he or she
is 30 percent more likely to become obese increasing the risk of heart disease,
diabetes, and other diseases (Blanding). Soda is a huge leading cause to health
effects. Anytime a human decides to put soda into their bodies they are putting
themselves at risk. Soda contains way too many sugars that are not beneficial to the
human body, these drinks have very little, if any, healthy ingredients in them and now

The Leather Boot As Evidence Against God Erlang s
Impostor
The supernatural element of the sorcery in the story of The Leather Boot as
Evidence against the God Erlang s Impostor makes the story more appealing to me.
As a comparison, in the story The Fan Tower Restaurant as Witness to the Love of
Zhou Shengxian , the dream encounter for Second Brother Fan of Zhou Shengxian
after she was died is somehow less interesting. When reading the God Erlang s
story, after god Erlang first appeared in Lady Han s garden I thought it was just her
imagination of the god coming down to the man s world because her mind was
full of the image of the god at that time. As the second time god Erlang appeared
again in Lady Han s garden, I started to guess if this was someone s prank on Lady
Han. The way god Erlang... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

reading the story until I encountered the part where god Erland asked Lady Han for
the jade waistband. I happened to need a jade waistband. Should you be willing to
part with it, that ll be an act of charity and gain you merit in heaven (Feng, 260).
After I read this sentence, I was sure that god Erland was just an ordinary person
who was attracted by Lady Han s beauty and wealth. The question of the
uncertainty of the supernatural element urged me to continue and finish the story
in order to find out the truth about who god Erlang was and how can he disappear
by the windowsill without a trace. The supernatural element in the Fan story is
less interesting to me. The only part that interested me in the Fan story is when
Zhu Zhen opened Zhou Shengxian s coffin and Zhou Shengxian came back to life
and ask Zhu Zhen, brother, who might you be? (Feng, 284). After I read this part
of the story, I was really curious of how can a died person woke up suddenly (she
was died a year ago). Even though Shengxian explained later in the story saying that
she was fainted at that time and did not die, but still, how can she woke up a year
later and appeared in Second

Functionalist Theory And Homosexuality
The functionalist theory and the symbolic interactionist theory in regards to sexulity
and sexual orientation are vastly different. The functionalist theory perspective is that
our society upholds heterosexuality as the normative and ideal behavior. This is also
known as institutionalized heterosexuality. The symbolic interactionist perspective is
that sexual orientationis a time bound and culturally specific social invention.
Heterosexuality is something that we as a society think of as unchanging, consistent,
and universal. Homosexualityis a master status, an identity that determines how others
view them and how they view themself. These two perspectives help us understand
the social problem that is inequality in the LGBT+ community
The History of Tattoos
Are tattoos, a permanent marking of the skin for many generations, indicating a
rebel or a mischievous male in past generations a now a rising trend? Looking
around today, it may seem as though everybody has at least some type of tattoo on
their body, from a small butterfly, to a giant piece of artwork, well detailed and
thought about thoroughly. It seems as though trends come and go, like a certain style
of clothing, make up, or music type. But are tattoos one? Even though tattoos have
recently became a trend within the most recent generations, throughout history, they
have both affected the world positively and negatively because of disease,
stereotypes, and creativity. At first, scientist thought the first tattoos appeared on
Egyptians, but were they wrong? Given evidence, they found there had, in fact,
been tattoos given long before the Egyptians. Dated back to two hundred B.C.
researchers had found a mummified body, with markings along its thigh and legs,
as well as on their arms. Prehistoric young girls were given these inked marks as a
sign of their importance in the tribe they belonged to, as well as symbols of love and
dedication to one said person. The tattoos that became more fancy and thought out
were given to the higher ranked members of the tribe. Like the prehistoric tribes,
Egyptians too, created tattoos on people of their city. But, unlike the prehistoric
people, both males and females received these tattoos. At first young girls were given
tattoos
The Literary Analysis Of Melanie Safka s Music
Melanie Safka s relationship with fame expressed through literary devices
Melanie Safka grew up in a time of violent political upheaval. Melanie first
encountered prejudice on the playground in her hometown of Brooklyn as other
children teased her for her unusual last name. Melanie was close to her uncles who
often participated in civil rights protests. In 1963 JFK was assassinated. The
young Brooklyn native graduated high school in 1964, the same year as the New
York Race Riots which by their end had caused hundreds of injuries and 450
arrests. As she took the international stage in 1969 with Bobo s party people
continued to fight for civil liberties after the victories of the civil rights movement.
She was one of three solo women to perform at Woodstock in 1969. And in 1972 as
Watergate broke in newspapers the Female Bob Dylan received Billboard s no. 1
Top Female Vocalist award. As a young woman in the spotlight and a leader in the
culture surrounding folk music, she cared deeply about the social issues of her time
and her urgent ballads (that) bind you to her with invisible threads of emotion.
(Edwin Miller, Seventeen Magazine) reflect that. Keenly aware of her ability to
affect change, the long haired girl was constantly concerned with what she could do
to help those around her. Using various literary devices Melanie Safka expresses in
her music a fear of losing herself to fame.
Melanie uses juxtaposition in her music to express what she fears in regards to fame,
Cheyenne Social Structure
The Cheyenne are commonly known as hunters after abandoning agriculture in the
eighteenth century. They are made up of the Northern and Southern groups found
within the high plains at the central portion. They are Algonquian speakers, with the
Southern and Northern Cheyenne having diverse dialect. The Cheyenneare originally
from Minnesota where they left before settling in the High plains.
History and Art The Cheyenne settlement was raided by the white people in the
late 1800s where they experienced several hostilities. This left women and
Children dead adding on to the cholera outbreak. The little big Horn which the
community participated in was bound to create a reservation for the Cheyenne.
The cosmological aspect of the Cheyenne shows that they do not hold a concept for
the existence of the earth (Sutton, 2016). The political structure of the Cheyenne
was governed by bands which were made up of related families and a population of
between 300 400 people. The highest political authority was made up of an all male
band. All those below were the primary chiefs who held less power but were still a
very important aspect of the community s political structure. ... Show more content on

instruction within the family was meant for girls and adult males. This is basis to
the Cheyenne life cycle. The members of the community would not be named until
they were at the age of five or six. Adultery had been made a rare aspect within the

Negative Effects Of Hip Hop
Music is a large part of life, it is important to America s culture and identity. Music
can produce a negative effect on behavior and susceptible audiences, leading to
aggressive behavior in many of America s youth. There have been many debates
over hip hop and its influence on the youth community in America. Some people
believe that it has a negative impact while others feel that it does not account for
any change in youth society. How does music and human behavior correspond?
What are the negative and positive effects that hip hop has towards America s

(DJ) is known as being a founder of hip hop in 1967 when he made his first gig at
his sister s birthday party. Alterations within the culture have taken the originality to a
whole new level with technology taking its jump and commercialism overrunning the
music industry. (Palvic, 2006) The four elements condition (social, economic,
cultural and political) reflects the youth community allowing them to listen in a way
they can relate or portray society. The Black Arts Movements, Black Power, Civil
Rights, New Negro Renaissance, Blues and Jazz are all phenomena that can draw all
similar artistic movements such as hip hop. Rapping, graffiti art, breakdancing, and
disc jockeying are considered to be among the four elements that wrap around hip
hop. Ever since hip hop appeared in the Bronx, hip hop has incorporated a style of
language, dress and dialect and a way of looking at the world. (Alridge and James,
2005)The relationship between human behavior and music is
Electroplating
ELECTROPLATING
Electroplating is the application of electrolytic cells in which a thin layer of metal is
deposited onto an electrically conductive surface.
Electroplating is a plating process that uses electrical current to reduce cat ions of a
desired material from a solution and coat a conductive object with a thin layer of the
material, such as a metal. Electroplating is primarily used for depositing a layer of
material to bestow a desired property (e.g., abrasion and wear resistance, corrosion
protection, lubricity, aesthetic qualities, etc.) to a surface that otherwise lacks that
property. Another application uses electroplating to build up thickness on undersized
parts.
The process used in electroplating is called ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The anode is connected to the positive terminal of the supply, and the cathode
(article to be plated) is connected to the negative terminal. When the external power
supply is switched on, the metal at the anode is oxidized from the zero valence state
to form cations with a positive charge. These cations associate with the anions in the
solution. The cations are reduced at the cathode to deposit in the metallic, zero
valence state. For example, in an acid solution, copper is oxidized at the anode to
Cu2+ by losing two electrons. The Cu2+ associates with the anion SO42 in the
solution to form copper sulfate. At the cathode, the Cu2+ is reduced to metallic
copper by gaining two electrons. The result is the effective transfer of copper from
the anode source to a plate covering the cathode.
The plating is most commonly a single metallic element, not an alloy. However,
some alloys can be electrodeposited, notably brass and solder.
Many plating baths include cyanides of other metals (e.g., potassium cyanide) in
addition to cyanides of the metal to be deposited. These free

Great Britain And The United States
This paper is a comparison of the lives of two influential statesmen in western culture,
one British and the other American. Great Britain and the United States have had a
long and sometimes complicated relationship throughout history. Who is theoretically
the parent versus the child in the relationship between these two nations? Which
nation building philosophy was best? Whose nation sustaining and building methods
worked the best? Should or would our nation building goals ever the same? Our
historical relationship might question that we have anything in common. A review of
scholarly and popular literature of the day discusses commonalities in goals of both
of these two political figures, securing wealth and influence for their... Show more

Family finances forced William to temporarily abandon his dreams of Seminary
studies at Allegheny College and he took a job as a postal worker. McKinley was
finally able to pursue his studies at Allegheny College where he was admitted as a
junior. Records indicate that Allegheny College list McKinley as a member of the
class of 1864. McKinley did well at college and it was said that he had an amazing
memory especially when it came to remembering faces and names. He was active
in the community and participated in town ball, the team sport of the time.
McKinley did not graduate. There is a college legend that he was dismissed for
pulling a prank. The story goes that put a cow in the belfry of Bentley Hall. There
are no records that support that claim however there is some evidence that
McKinley and his roommate lodged a goat in the belfry. The college has no record
of punishment. When the civil war started McKinley who was teaching at the time,
enlisted into the Union army, Twenty third Ohio Volunteer Infantry in June 1861.
He completed his 4 year enlistment excelling to the rank of brevet major. One thing
of particular note in his military career was that as a commissioned officer, Second
Lieutenant McKinley he served under Colonel Rutherford B. Hayes who would later
become the 19th President of the United States. At the end of the war, McKinley
returned to Ohio, and rekindled his law studies. He passed the bar exam in 1867 and
Social Media Good Or Bad Essay
Have you ever had a good or bad experience with social media? Have you ever been
a part of a protest that was started on social media? I think that social media is a
good thing because you can have so much fun on it and even make friends on in.
Without that you would be limited to the kids in your neighborhood and in some
places there are not a lot of kids that you can make friends with or they do not live
close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social media. Like recently I
have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are super
nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would
have to play be myself all the time and have no one to talk to. But now I have the
chance to make friends and have fun with them even tho they live far away. Also
colleges and most jobs look at your social media account to see what kind of person
you are and if you are able to work so not only can you have fun but you can also
potentially make money from it and you can make friends. Things like Facebook are
so convenient to talk with friends or family without that we would need to call them
and that is just so much harder to do then... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But you can aways friend you child on Facebook to protect them. Even tho they
know what to do to be safe online and what to do if something bad hapens but the
odds of that happening is very small. Also people think that social media is a waste
of time but that is not true becuse you can learn so much online and find so many
cool and interesting things about things you did not even know existed. Also you
can buy things online so you do not have to go look for it in a store and have it not
be there which is a big waste of time. With the web you can buy things that you
know they have and it comes right to you. Al you have to do is wait for it to come to
your house and that is
What Skills Are Important In The Importance Of
Phonemic...
1.Define phonemic awareness. What skills are important in the instruction of
phonemic awareness?
a.Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear, isolate, identify, and manipulate the
discrete sounds of language, this only involves the sounds of speech and not the
letters or words.
b.The skills important when instructing phonemic awareness are concepts of print,
recognizing/producing rhyme, syllable tasks, blending syllables, phonemic tasks and
onset and rime (word families). When instructing phonemic awareness, the reader
should emphasize sounds and use visual and oral instruction whenever possible, such
as manipulatives.
2.Why is visualization such an important comprehension skill for readers? How can
we teach visualization to struggling readers?
a.Visualization, or mental imagery, helps students make a picture of the readingin
their minds by relating text to personal experiences from prior knowledge.
Visualization is such an important comprehension skill because students cannot
remember what they are reading if they cannot picture the story in their head. It
would be similar to memorizing text and having no techniques to remember the text.
However, by visualizing, the reader is creating a personal connection with the text
and activating prior knowledge. Therefore, they are able to picture and recall what
they are reading.
b.We can teach visualization to struggling readers, specifically students with
disabilities, by having them think about what they see, hear, smell,

Role of Women in Hemmingway s Hills like White Elephants, Lawrence s The

By doing this Hemingway succeededs in creating a character who cannot be

Jig s main objective throughout the story is ensuring that her partner is happy. This
is apparent when she tells him that she will go through with the abortion. Then I ll
do it. Because I don t care about me. And I ll do it and then everything will be fine.
Through these comments it is evident that she truly believes if she has an abortion
their relationship will be fine giving little thought to the emotional and physical
trauma the procedure will cause. Jig s subservient attitude is indicative of her low
self esteem throughout the story. She allows herself to be shaped by a man whose
care for her is more than obviously not a reciprocation of hers for
The Protest Of The Little India Riot
On the night of 8 December 2013, Singapore came face to face with the incident
that put an end to the riot free track record we had been enjoying for over 40 years.
The Little India riot was a wake up call in our usually stable sociopolitical climate.
Over 400 foreign workers, mostly under the influence of alcohol, had violently
attacked the policeand destroyed governmentproperty after a foreign workerhad been
killed in an accident. It is important to note that this incident had occurred in the
light of the formation of an increasingly complex society, where more than one fifth
of the population comprises foreigners. Various issues such as overcrowding and
tensions between foreigners and Singaporeans are among rising concerns. It also
seems to be becoming a more liberal society. These changes in society should be
accompanied by respective changes in the government, with the focus on
conscientiously addressing the old, and the new concerns of the society. The riot was
indicative of the government s shortfall in its foreseeing of issues and decision
making, evidencing the need to learn new lessons.
Anticipation of a future problem before it occurs is something the government can
learn from the riot for better management of the society. Visitors and residents of
Little India had been experiencing frequent overcrowding, with crowds numbering in
the thousands especially on Sundays, when foreign workers get a day off. In
addition, there were many cases of public
No Name Woman Analysis
One s identity can t be given before one achieves a sense of character through self
reflection and personal experience. In No Name Woman Maxine Hong Kingston
narrates the tale of her unmarried aunt who is obliged to suffer the consequences of
her pregnancy in the ambiguous world of her Chinese roots. We are not given a
name for the narrator nor for her family. We therefore might wonder who might be
considered a No name Woman both in the book s world and in our own. With the
oxymoron No Name Woman, Kingston calls attention to reconcile both her Chinese
and American identities to and mold her own identity as a result. This makes us think
more deeply about the multiple meanings of Chinese experience in America.
Kingston instantly outlines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Chinese culture, water ghosts (Shui gui) are the spirits of people who drowned.
Shui Gui are known for lurking in the place they died to drag gullible victims

the villagers had another reason to keep the aunt s history hidden as they feared to
suffer the consequences of slandering her as a shameful outcast. The aspects of
Chinese society come together near the end of the story. Kingston s metaphors such
as round moon cakes and doorways represent the circle of Chinese life: The idea that
every villager has a place in the tight circle that is Chinese society. The roundness also
indicates that the family functions as a whole, with each generation dependent on the
other. Chinese tradition is what fuels this circle; it establishes the cultural norms and
practices that define what it means to be Chinese. Not only does this circle represent
ancestral relations, it also represents the circle of

Book Tittle: Count of Monte CristoGenre: Fiction Author: Alexandre
DumasNumber of Pages: 634Summary and Arrangement of the book: The general
arrangement of the book is that it is broken up into short, event oriented chapters.
Each chapter focuses specifically on the details f a single event with little deviance
in terms of the story line. The chapters build upon each other in a way that creates a
well rounded understanding of the protagonist Edmond DantГ©s life. The fist four
chapters focus on DantГ©s accomplishments and his success. Dumas highlights all
that is positive in DantГ©s life such as him becoming captain of the Pharaon at
such a young age and that he is finally able to marry the love of his life, Mercedes.
The fourth chapter is the turning point in which DantГ©s life turns from joy to
suffering. Chapters five and six are where DantГ©s fate is decided. He is captured
on suspicion of being a Bonapartist, however, upon examination, the officer Villefort
decides that DantГ©s is innocent and is prepared to grant him his freedom and
release him from all charges until DantГ©s let slip the name of whom he was
unintentionally meant to deliver a Bonapartist letter to. Villefort recognizes the name
and address to be that of his own father. In protecting his reputation, Villefort burns
the letter and has DantГ©s imprisoned in the ChГўteau D If. Chapter seven only
finalizes the decision of Villefort to imprison the innocent man to save
The Church Of New France
One of the many things the settlers of New France bought with them from France
into North America was religion. Historians have argued that the church played
huge part in the lives of the people in New France. Despite being far away from the
leaders of the church and thus not directly under their control, the church still
played a role in the lives of the people of New France. By the 1600s Jesuit
missionaries had entered New France and started their attempts to convert the First
Nations people. As more settlers moved into New France it was more difficult for
the church to keep its status. They attempted with various methods to convert more
First Nations and keep the European settlers in the church. However, post 1663, after
the creation of the Royal Colony, the issues regarding religion and the issues it was
causing did not decrease.
The primary source being used is a document by Annie Rollo Stagg titled The
importance of religion to woman . Secondary sources include the Role of the
Church in New France , The People of New France , Business and Religion in the
Age of New France, 1600 1760: Twenty two Studies , and First Establishment of
the Faith in New France . I will argue that the church in post 1663 New France
played an enormous part of the people residing there, especially women. The church
was not a place for people to worship but politically, socially and economically
influenced the post 1663 life in New France.

Essay on Noahs Ark vs. Gilgamesh Epic
Noahs Ark vs. Gilgamesh Epic
The Gilgamesh Epic is an ancient Mesopotamian story about life and the suffering
one must endure while alive. Included in the story, is a tale of a great flood that
covered the earth, killing all but a select few of it s inhabitants. This story of a
great flood is common to most people, and has affected history in several ways. It s
presence in the Gilgamesh Epic has caused many people to search for evidence that a
great flood actually happened. It has also caused several other religions and cultures to
take the same basic story, claiming it for their own.

He next sent out a dove, which returned without finding a place to rest. A week
later he set out the dove again, and it returned with an olive leaf. The next week, the
dove didn t return. Everyone then emerged from the ark. Noah built an altar and
made a sacrifice to God, and God promised never again to destroy all living creatures
with a flood, giving the rainbow as a sign of His covenant.
The similarities between the two stories are obvious for the most part. It makes one
wonder if perhaps Noah and Utnapishnem were the same person, and the different
stories may have been caused by the same happening seen from different viewpoints.
Though this may be the only logical answer, many people are still searching for the
truth behind the tales. This has lead many people to devoting their lives to finding
scientific proof that a flood covering a vast stretch of land actually occurred several
centuries ago.
The search for proof of a great flood has been going on for decades. Based primarily
in the Middle East, the search begins with questioning history for any detail that
may suggest there was a flood. Then they must ask what conditions are necessary
for causing a flood of the magnitude described in the Gilgamesh Epic, or that may
have seemed as large to the people affected by it. If these conditions were indeed
met, what scientific evidence do we have that could prove it really happened?
A flood of the magnitude stated in these
What Is The Purpose Of Annabel Lee
Edgar Allan Poe s, Annabel Lee, tells the story of a man who is recounting on his
memories of being in love with Annabel Lee. Even though they were only children,
the two were madly in love. They claimed that even the angels in heaven were
jealous of their love. The speaker of the poem believes that this was the detriment
to their love; he blames the angels for killing Annabel. Annabel s body was put in a

In the third stanza kingdom of the sea is repeated twice in order to emphasize the
period of time that the two have known and loved each other. The repetition of
these words overall allows Poe to create a relationship between symbols and unify
his poem. They show the depth of admiration and passion that the lovers had for
one another. The tone and mood of this poem are somber the speaker s attitude

A Comparison Of Braveheart And The 13th Warrior
Introduction
According to Army Doctrine Reference Publication (ADRP) 6 22, leadership is the
process of influencing people by providing purpose, direction, and motivation to
accomplish the mission and improve the organization . This essay will analyze two
different leaders, William Wallace from Braveheart and Ahmad ibn Fadlanfrom The
13th Warrior. After analyzing each leader, this essay will transition to compare the
leadership lessons, concepts, perspectives, and styles I observed. Then this essay will
suggest how Army leaders can employ the aforementioned perceptions to motivate
others to accomplish missions and improve their organizations. Additionally, this
essay will recommend specific groups within the Army enterprise that should watch
Braveheart and The 13th Warrior through the lens of leadership to gain a thorough

Art of the Italian Renaissance
One of the greatest stories from the Italian Renaissance is the one of Fillipo
Brunelleschi and Lorenzo Ghiberti. In 1401, the directors of the art of the Santa
Maria del Fiore Cathedral held a contest for artists; to create panels for a the doors
on the east entrance (Kleiner, 560 2). Because the east doors faced the cathedral, the
people thought it extremely prestigious to be able to participate in such a massive
creation. After the first competition round, two finalists remained; Brunelleschi, an
accomplished and experienced artist, and Ghiberti, a younger artist, but one with just
as much talent. The two competitors were required to create a panel (or square) of

It is said that history repeats itself, and in some instances this is true. Many
Savonarola situations happened around the world, but one in particular stood out
to me as I have read about it before. The Boxer Rebellion, which occurred in China
from 1899 to the early 1900 s. A large part of the Western world considered China
as less developed than them, despite the fact that China had existed long before
these countries. Certain people in China grew very tired of being treated as
underlings as they felt that the people of the western world were taking advantage of
them. Because of this a secret alliance began; a dangerous union which grew into a
desperate attempt to purify China from all western thought. Hence the Boxer
Rebellion, which was a formation of young people bent on destroying any and
everything to do with western thought. Like the situation involving Savonarola and
the destruction of classical texts, participants in the rebellion harmed and killed
many missionaries, destroying homes, people, and even hospitals; they burned a
racecourse built by the English, and were involved in many lengthy battles. It is
evident that the Boxers thought all Western ideas were evil, and they assumed the
only way to save themselves was to rid their country of foreign ideas; something that
is familiar when compared to Girolamo Savonarola and his frantic actions to purify
Florence from humanistic ideas. My
How The Water Feels To The Fishes Analysis
Ignorance is bliss as said by many people. As defined in the dictionary it is, lack of
knowledge or information (google). It could be a blessing or a curse. In this case,
humans being ignorant is a curse. Our thoughts have been so conditioned that our
curiosity has been stolen from us. We no longer have her own unique thoughts, we
just go with what we are told. In How The Water Feels To The Fishes by Dave
Eggers, he writes how ignorant humans can be to everyday things like, air.
People always ask the fishes, what does the water feel like to you? and the fishes
are always happy to oblige (23).The fish have more wisdom compared to the
humans. They are more attendant and aware of their surroundings. They know
how ignorant the humans can be and always try to help them out. They explain to
the humans how water can feel like the fur of a chinchilla (23). Or like the tongue
of a cat (23). It can feel many different ways depending on the temperature or time
of the day. When it s cold out, the water is like cracked glass. Or honey (23). When
honey gets cold it turns solid, like an ice cube and cracks. Cold honey is similar to

The Theory Of Computational Design Thinking
Jose Lopez

ARC 5205 Advanced Theory Professor Neil Leach
Computational Design Thinking
The dominance of computational programs in the architectural career has become
dominant throughout the years. It could be said that it has taken over the entire
practice and that the human aspect had been taken out completely. In the book
Computational Design Thinking, by Achim Menges and Sean Ahlquist this is
discussed. It is important to understand how certain things work in an environment in
other to comprehend how a design computer system actually works. In order to do so,
a system generating a system, history and cybernetics, and how the machine and men
interact needs to be analyzed. In doing so, it is determined that one cannot exist
without the other.
A system generating a systems dominates the idea of computational design. A system
has to ideas explained in the book. The first idea is a system as a whole. The
system as a whole refers to a particular holistic view of a single thing. While a
generating system does not refer to a single thing; but a combination of things that
include rules that are capable of generating many things. A system can only become
a system if it has a holistic property. Meaning that if the object could have different
meaning depending the approach. For example a flower; when given as a gift it is
just a flower. It is not thought of as a system it is just an object to the receiver. If the
same flower is looked about in a different way it
Compare And Contrast Mauryan Empire And Han China
These two civilizations had a lot to differ, however they both shared some similarities
as well. Socially, the Han Dynasty had dealt with the most cultural assimilation. These
people diffused their culture into the neighbouring countries surrounding China. As
the Chinese state itself grew into a bigger empire, the countries surrounding it would
eventually get assimilated into the growing culture. The Mauryan Empire was
somewhat similar. This Empire specialized in cultural diversity, where many people
who migrated from Central Asia and became a part of their distinct culture.
Politically, these two civilizations were both somewhat similar and different. These
two civilizations would have different kinds of authority. In the Han Dynasty, these
people had an emperor which had all the authority over China. However the Mauryan
Empire had ministers and spies to assist the ruler in governing his people.

Positioning the camera as close to the needle axis as possible axial resolution of
camera systems is usually lower. Also, placement of cameras should consider the
sewing direction and avoid occlusion by the needle.
Various setup options will be explored to examine which systems provide the most
reliable results. These setup options involve a ToF camera, stereo webcams and stereo
microscopes. Multi camera setups will be considered as the needle and tools need to
be tracked in both coarse and fine movements.
Calibration methods to calibrate depth and RGB cameras together will be explored.
Object tracking techniques would be explored and its accuracy verified using ground

Cultural Diversity In Australia In The 1970 s
Australia s success is largely due to the cultural diversity of our migrants.
Australia a nation known for its multiculturalism and diversity didn t always accept
migrants, in fact Australia did not accept all people until they dismantled the White
Australia Policy a policy that had been in place since 1901 the policy was in place
with the sole purpose of excluding people who were not desirable and only
abolished shortly after the events of World War II, Past events have helped create and
shape Australia s unique identity of today. The idea of migration in the past is
nowhere near the same as it is now, during the first half of the 19th century Australia
experienced high rates of migration which was the beginning of Australia s cultural
diversity. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The same fate for other war torn countries happened in the 20th century where
Australia had experienced huge amounts of migration activity, e.g. countries such as
Vietnam, Hungary, and Chile migrated to Australia to escape from war. The
substantial immigration program experienced most migrants coming from the United
Kingdom, China and India, this huge influx of migration saw much success in
Australia, where migrants brought about new and unique developments in the
economy, things such as entrepreneurship, new labour and skills in which they
provided and catered to the rapidly increasing population s demands for goods and
Names In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre
In Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyre, the titular character goes on both a mental and
physical journey throughout the novel. Jane calls several different places home
throughout her life, and encounters different milestones and challenges that shape
her into a person at each one. The names given to these places and the people Jane
comes across in them are used to represent what will happen to her while she is
living there. Bronte s use of the meanings of names as symbols is called etymology.
For the duration of Jane s time moving between several different homes in England,
her life changes drastically, causing her to adapt to new situations and develop as a
person. It was no accident that the names of the people and places Jane encounters on
her journey mirror these situations. Charlotte Bronte s Jane Eyreuses the names of
both characters and locations as symbols to represent Jane s experiences at each of
the places where she lives through her life.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Reeds take care of Jane because both of her parents died at a young age,
making her an orphan. While living here, Jane s extended family subjects her to
neglect, abuse, and hate. This caused Jane to feel as if she were alone at
Gateshead. Bronte s naming of the residence shows how Jane feels like she cannot
move beyond the gate separating her from the others living at Gateshead, stating I
was clearly a discord at Gateshead Hall; I was like nobody there; I had nothing in
harmony with Mrs. Reed or her children, or her chosen vassalage. (Bronte 17). Jane
saw that even Mrs. Reed s servants were accepted in the house, while she was not.
The use of gate also could represent how Jane s time at Gateshead Hall was only the
beginning of her struggles and development into an independent
Are Friends Better Than Seinfeld
Why Friends is a Better Sitcom Than Seinfeld
While the 90s notoriously brought us a myriad of classic sitcoms, there are none as
infamous as Friends and Seinfeld. The two are often compared due to their
simultaneous airings and similar audiences, but there is no doubt that Friends is the
better sitcom.
In the world of television, there exists an elusive and uncommonly used tactic that
draws viewers in and makes a show golden. This tactic is rare, so rare that Seinfeld
obviously has not heard of it. This tactic? A plotline. Seinfeld is dubbed the show
about nothing because this is exactly what viewers get out of watching it: nothing.
No moral lesson, no ethical value, no storyline. Just four characters acting in
completely asinine ways for 30 minutes without a purpose. Friends, on the other hand,
always teaches us something by the end of the episode. Whether it be the fact that
family comes first, or the fact that your friends are your family, Friends has tangible
value in it that is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Seinfeld universe, a hospital is a place where a Junior Mint is ejected into
the abdominal cavity of an unsuspecting patient. While Friends uses a devastating
fire to show Rachel and Phoebe becoming closer as roommates, Seinfeld uses a fire
to show George actively pushing children out of the way to save himself. Wedding
envelopes characterize a new beginning for Monica and Chandler in Friends, while
they quite literally cause the death of George s fiancГ©e in Seinfeld. Last but
certainly not least, the overall satisfaction of the finales of both shows is
incomparable. The Seinfeld finale is the sloppy, unnecessarily collective, last minute
project of a procrastinating student; the Friends finale is the thoughtful, well put
together dissertation of a successful graduate
Conflict Of Self In John Calvin, The Accusative Case
John Calvin s Conflict of Self
John Calvin, the Accusative Case as he was called by friends, was known for being a
stern and humorless theologian and in truth he was, but there was more to him than
just that. Throughout his career, he was staunch in the belief of predetermination
above all other thought. Unlike Luther, Calvin had not begun life with the mindset of
being a preacher, but he arguably had just as much, if not more of an impact as a
reformer. More humanist than previous reformers, but not truly that either, Calvin
existed in a state of conflict. Calvin was educated as a French Humanist with a less
than humanist view of predestination that culminated in an influential, but unfulfilled
life.
Calvin had a different beginning to that of most reformists, which lent him a unique
perspective. According to Calvin his father had destined me for the study of theology.
But afterwards, when he considered that the legal profession commonly raised those
who followed it to wealth , but in truth he could not initially join the church due to the
very same father embezzling money. Whether this original desire left Calvin with a
sense of unfulfilled destiny is uncertain, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The concept of predestination perhaps the strongest belief he held to the point where
if you supported the idea of free will. Others endeavor to overthrow God s eternal
purpose of predestination, by which he distinguishes between the reprobate and the
elect; others take upon them to defend free will; and forthwith many throw
themselves into their ranks, not so much through ignorance as by a perversity of zeal
which I know not how to characterize. With regards to original sin Calvin. In refusal
of other ideas Calvin never touched upon opposite opinions, unless there was reason
to fear. Calvin was certainly set in his beliefs, but not without
It in Costa Rica
Costa Rica
Costa Rica is a peaceful Central American country fronting both the Atlantic and
Pacific Oceans. It has almost 4 million residents, a stable democratic government, no
army, and is host to Central America s largest hi tech community, including the Latin
American Headquarters of Microsoft and one of Intel s most modern chip fabrication
plants. Many major US high tech corporations maintain offices or branches in Costa
Rica including IBM, Oracle, Dell, Apple, Compaq, Cisco, and others. Literacy (nearly
95%), English language and computer usage are the highest in Latin America. Costa

The number of Internet users in the region could increase to 34 million in the year
2000, and it is estimated that e commerce transactions in Latin America could reach
$240 million in 1999 and $525 million in 2000.
The typical Latin American Internet user is a 26 year old, middle class man who
has used the Internet for less than a year and whose favorite site for doing Web
searches is Yahoo. At least, that is the conclusion of a study conducted by the
advertising agency Nazca Saatchi Saatchi Inc. The age of the average user shows
that more young people are getting online in the region, since the average age in
1997 was 31 years old.
Recent studies have also indicated that the Internet is becoming more accessible to
middle and lower class people. Latin American Web surfers prefer Web sites that
provide information about music, local news, chat services, information about
computers and information about art and culture.
After Yahoo, the most popular search sites are AltaVista, Cade, Radar UOL,
StarMedia, Infoseek, Lycos and Excite.
Most respondents log on from home (53 percent), followed by work (31 percent).
Most people (54 percent) use the Internet every day, 20 percent five or six days per
week and 26 percent four days or less per week. The average weekly use is 11 hours.
Twenty seven percent of respondents said their sessions last between 31 minutes and
60 minutes, and 23 percent said their sessions last between 61 minutes and 90
The Pros And Cons Of Political Science
Political Science is a study that is in the process of progression. According to
Douglas A. Van Belle, faraway galaxies have politics also. Pondering where people
exist, interactions exist. Where people and interactions exist so do cultures and
societies whose idiologies and customs very dramatically. I have always been
attracted to politicsand the more time I spend studing politics the more I realize why.
Political scientist do not agree on a definition and for more than 2,000 years there
has been different interpretations of what the science portion is inclusive of. In class
we discussed this and we were presented with the interpretation of political scienceas
Who gets What, When, How .
At Georgia Southern University the Political Science Department seperates the
dicipline into four fields, Political Theory, American Politics, Comparitive Politics
and International Politics. Comparing concepts from the four different fields can give
us a more philosophical approach to the dicipline. With a higher degree of
understanding, we can accomplish more with the knowledge we share.
Political Theory
From my understanding, political theory tends to be a sub discipline that is much
less discussed than the others. Political theory reflects or engages the philosophical
foundations of the study of politics . Pondering about this subdiscipline, it is very
possible to come to the premature assumption that political theory is the blood flow
of political studies. In some
The Best Places For Find European Stocks
1. The best places to find European stocks
The stock market may have found its legs within the United States, but its true
spiritual home is without doubt within European borders. European stocks for the
past 100 years have found great success within European exchanges, with several of
them bringing investment opportunities closer to the people. If you are someone who
holds an interest in European stocks, then the following are the exchanges that you
need to place focus on.
London Stock Exchange
Found deep within the heart of London, the London Stock Exchange ranks as the 4th
largest stock exchange in the world and certainly has age and experience on its
side. Founded back in 1801, it s located next to the historic St Paul s Cathedral and
is an international market in almost every sense of the word. At last count there were
more than 3,000 brands from 70 different countries present and accounted for. What
helps make the London Stock Exchange such a haven for European stocks is the fact
that it is open to both upstart and already established markets. The Alternative
Investment Market (AIM) opens its doors to lesser known names and gives them a
platform to openly promote themselves to traders. If you are looking to invest in
European stocks the London Stock Exchange represents a great place to start.
Deutsche Borse
Germany is considered key financial house within Europe, so it is no shock to see
that various European stocks call the country home. Germany s leading stock

effectively move towards a universal health coverage that is efficiently using
resources, increasing resource mobilization and improving pooling. The article
details the application of DRG (diagnosis related group) or case based billing system
practices that most hospitals utilize as their payment systems. They describe the

There are two core design characteristics associated with DRG based payments; an
exhaustive patient case classification system (i.e. the system of diagnosis related
groupings) and the payment formula, which is based on the base rate multiplied by a
relative cost weight specific for each DRG (Mathauer Wittenbecher, 2013). These
values can be set for the components and the potential effect as policy levers as they
are evaluated. Importantly, the qualitative and quantitative effect of a DRG based
payment system is also contingent upon the payment mechanism that is replaced
(Mathauer Wittenbecher, 2013). Certain issues that are induced by payment
methodologies like the DRG, are the unwanted incentives to increase hospital
admissions, up coding and the under provision of necessary services. Detailed in the
article are the piloting of such a system; problems with coding standardization, data
availability and information technology requirements; integration of the private
sector, and hospital autonomy (Mathauer Wittenbecher, 2013). Fee for Service
(FFS) Fee for service is a payment model where services are paid for separately, in
health care, as opposed to bundeling them. It gives an incentive for physicians to
provide more treatments because payment is dependent on the quantity of care, rather
than quality of care. Managed care plans and the Patient Protection and Affordable

Increase The Toughness Of Steels After Quenching Process
Abstract:
Tempering is an important heat treating process, which is used to increase the
toughness of steels after quenching process. Hollomon Jaffe equation
H=T(c+logвЃЎt ) is widely used to predict hardness with different tempering
temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature, t is the tempering
time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c constant
was not clear. In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensite for AISI
4140 were measured by X Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals
that the c/a ratio decreases instantly within the first 60s tempering time. After analysis
based on the experiment results and derivation of Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the
parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is found to stand for the slope of carbon
hardness curve.
Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation
1. Introduction
All steels that are hardened are subjected to a subcritical heat treatment referred to as
tempering . Tempering improves the toughness of as quenched martensite (body
center tetragonal) but lowers strength and hardness 1, . The microstructure
transformation is very complex: Stage1: The formation of transition carbides and
lowering of the carbon content of the martensite to 0.25% (100 to 250в„ѓ) Stage2:
The transformation of retained austenite to ferrite and cementite (200 to 300в„ѓ)
Stage3: The replacement of transition carbides and low temperature

  • 1. Example Of An Descriptive Essay Writing an essay on the topic "Example Of A Descriptive Essay" can be both challenging and rewarding. The difficulty lies in the balance between vividly describing the chosen subject and maintaining a cohesive and engaging narrative. Crafting a descriptive essay requires a keen sense of observation, a rich vocabulary, and the ability to evoke emotions through words. To begin, one must carefully select a subject that lends itself to detailed description. Whether it's a place, person, or object, the challenge is to bring it to life for the reader through sensory details. This involves not only capturing visual aspects but also incorporating sounds, smells, tastes, and textures. The goal is to transport the reader to the depicted scene, making them feel as though they are experiencing it firsthand. Organizing the essay poses another set of challenges. Maintaining a logical flow while incorporating descriptive elements can be tricky. Striking the right balance between painting a vivid picture and ensuring coherence requires careful consideration of the order of details. Additionally, avoiding excessive use of adjectives and adverbs is essential to prevent the prose from becoming overly verbose. Furthermore, crafting an engaging introduction and a meaningful conclusion adds complexity. The introduction should grab the reader's attention and set the tone for the essay, while the conclusion should leave a lasting impression. The challenge is to create bookends that complement the descriptive content, ensuring a satisfying and memorable reading experience. However, despite these challenges, writing a descriptive essay offers a unique opportunity for creativity and self-expression. It allows the writer to showcase their observational skills and the ability to convey emotions through language. Ultimately, the difficulty lies in finding the right words to do justice to the chosen subject, creating an immersive experience for the reader. In conclusion, writing a descriptive essay requires a delicate balance between observation, creativity, and organization. It is a task that challenges writers to convey a rich and immersive experience through words. Despite the difficulties, successfully crafting a descriptive essay can be a gratifying endeavor, allowing for the expression of creativity and the creation of a captivating narrative. • 6. Stop And Frisk, Automobile Searches, And Border And... Though the Fourth Amendment can lay the foundation of the laws of search and seizures and warrants, there are still many controversies as to what is classified as a violation of an individual s Fourth Amendment rights. However, the wording of the Fourth Amendment can be confusing as different individuals interpret privacy in various ways. Terms that may be interpreted differently in the Fourth Amendment can include: 1) right of privacy, 2) search, 3) seizure, 4) arrest, and 5) reasonableness. This paper will examine how each term relates to the practice of stop and frisk, automobile searches, and border and regulatory searches. The rights of privacy are described to be personal belongings or home. As defined in Merriam Webster (2015), the right to privacy is the legal right of a person to have reasonable privacy whereas their private affairs are not made known, or their likeness to be made public in regards to that person s habits, mode of living, and occupation. Individuals may call upon their rights of privacy when they believe that those rights have been violated. Situations like this may occur when an officer searches an individuals property, or their person when performing a stop and frisk. However the fact remains that when individuals are guilty of violating any law, those rights are then diminished to a degree. When performing any search and seizure, law enforcement must have a warrant. Situations when a warrant is not needed would then fall under the Good Faith

Lisa Mooney a publisher for livestrong.com says, Many parents wonder whether they should encourage their children to play sports. It is known that athletic participation aids in fighting childhoodobesity, encourages social interaction and promotes self confidence and independence in many children. Pushing reticent children into sports, however, can have adverse consequences, because competition can place too much pressure to succeed on even recreational athletes. But having your child play sports will allow them to be more active in playing and also allow them to live a more healthy life instead of your child sitting on the couch and watching TV. Placing children in sports can teach them many goals in life, they will be able to use them when they grow older, especially when they reach middle or high school level
  • 8. The Omnivore s Dilemma Summary How much do you really know about the food you eat? Reading the book The Omnivore s Dilemma by Michael Pollan, Getting Real About the High Price of Our Cheap Food by Bryan Walsh, and the movie Food Inc. gave me an idea of how our food is made and what is in it. Also reading the books gave me an idea, Michael Pollanmostly talked about corn and Bryan Walsh talking about high prices of our cheap food. Robert Kenner explains how we should look into our food to save us from getting sick or becoming obese. Michael Pollans argument is how corn is in everything we eat. His claim is, most of what we eat is corn, in one way or another. Corn is in pills, diapers, charcoal, and batteries. That s crazy. We don t eat batteries or diapers. When we eat our food it just doesn t taste like a ball of corn. His evidence is corn feeds the steer that becomes your steak, the chicken that lays your eggs, the pig that becomes your pork, the catfish in the catfish farm, and the corn that feeds your dairy cow that becomes your milk, cheese and ice cream. Everybody thinks since corn is a Bunn 2 vegetable it s in all of our foods we re eating healthier and getting our vegetables but were not. Just because corn is a vegetable doesn t mean the corn in our food is healthy. Most of the corn in our bad foods is High Fructose Corn Syrup. It s that sweet taste in most of our foods but just because its made out of corn doesn t mean it s healthier for us. All that extra stuff is doing is adding

  • 10. Electrolytic Enzyme Bromelain The results demonstrated that, as shown in both Figure 1 and Graph 1, when fresh pineapple was used the gelatin was liquefied significantly when compared with tinned pineapple (the amount of liquefied gelatin with tinned pineapple was negligible). This is because the protein contained in the gelatin has undergone chemical reactions where the enzymeBromelain was present, which is not present in the tinned pineapple. According to William V. Glider and Mark S. Hargrove, (2002), the enzyme bromelain which is contained in the pineapple, digests the proteins in the gelatin in a process called Hydrolysis. Hydrolysis is a chemical reactionwhere molecule bonds breakdown in the presence of water and the attached H and OH at the broken ends of the chain as shown in the figure 3 (L. hydro = water; Gk. lysis = loosening or breakdown) (William V. Glider and Mark S. Hargrove, 2002). The protein is not soluble in water due to the complex molecular structure, however, when the protein is broken down into the building blocks of proteins, amino acids, the amino acids are able to dissolve in the water (encyclopaedia.com, 2016). The results of the experiment support the previous findings that the proteolytic enzyme bromelain catalyses the breakdown of proteins into their amino acid building blocks ... Furthermore, this may also be due to variations in the time at which the splat tests were conducted. Nonetheless, the significant difference in enzyme activity is demonstrated in Graph 2, which demonstrates the average difference in enzyme activity between tinned (1.5 cm2) and fresh pineapples (11.67

  • 12. Persuasive Essay On Obesity provoke Americans from purchasing them. Obesity could be stopped if citizens chose better drinks in fact , obesity rates could be reduced by 1 to 4 percentage points if sugary beverages are taxed moderately (Sahadi). By putting a tax on these beverages Americans will be less likely to buy them. Although the percentage change is not that high it will prevent many citizens in choosing this unhealthy lifestyle. A risk that could result from being obese is diabetes. Diabetes is a common disease in the U.S. today, for the average child born today, there is a 50 /50 chance, if lifestyles do not change, that they will develop Type 2 diabetes or other physical diseases and conditions that are associated with being overweight ( 11 pros ). Give a child the best opportunity they could have. Kids deserve to be fed the right food and beverage choices, so they will be prevented from the high risk of diabetes. Everyone should be cautious on the amount of soda they consume, one study, for example, found for every can of soda a person drinks per day, he or she is 30 percent more likely to become obese increasing the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and other diseases (Blanding). Soda is a huge leading cause to health effects. Anytime a human decides to put soda into their bodies they are putting themselves at risk. Soda contains way too many sugars that are not beneficial to the human body, these drinks have very little, if any, healthy ingredients in them and now there is a strong

The Leather Boot As Evidence Against God Erlang s Impostor The supernatural element of the sorcery in the story of The Leather Boot as Evidence against the God Erlang s Impostor makes the story more appealing to me. As a comparison, in the story The Fan Tower Restaurant as Witness to the Love of Zhou Shengxian , the dream encounter for Second Brother Fan of Zhou Shengxian after she was died is somehow less interesting. When reading the God Erlang s story, after god Erlang first appeared in Lady Han s garden I thought it was just her imagination of the god coming down to the man s world because her mind was full of the image of the god at that time. After I read this sentence, I was sure that god Erland was just an ordinary person who was attracted by Lady Han s beauty and wealth. The question of the uncertainty of the supernatural element urged me to continue and finish the story in order to find out the truth about who god Erlang was and how can he disappear by the windowsill without a trace. The supernatural element in the Fan story is less interesting to me. The only part that interested me in the Fan story is when Zhu Zhen opened Zhou Shengxian s coffin and Zhou Shengxian came back to life and ask Zhu Zhen, brother, who might you be? (Feng, 284). After I read this part of the story, I was really curious of how can a died person woke up suddenly (she was died a year ago). Looking around today, it may seem as though everybody has at least some type of tattoo on their body, from a small butterfly, to a giant piece of artwork, well detailed and thought about thoroughly. It seems as though trends come and go, like a certain style of clothing, make up, or music type. But are tattoos one? Even though tattoos have recently became a trend within the most recent generations, throughout history, they have both affected the world positively and negatively because of disease, stereotypes, and creativity. At first, scientist thought the first tattoos appeared on Egyptians, but were they wrong? Given evidence, they found there had, in fact, been tattoos given long before the Egyptians. Dated back to two hundred B.C. researchers had found a mummified body, with markings along its thigh and legs, as well as on their arms. Prehistoric young girls were given these inked marks as a sign of their importance in the tribe they belonged to, as well as symbols of love and dedication to one said person. The tattoos that became more fancy and thought out were given to the higher ranked members of the tribe. Like the prehistoric tribes, Egyptians too, created tattoos on people of their city. But, unlike the prehistoric people, both males and females received these tattoos. At first young girls were given tattoos

History and Art The Cheyenne settlement was raided by the white people in the late 1800s where they experienced several hostilities. This left women and Children dead adding on to the cholera outbreak. The little big Horn which the community participated in was bound to create a reservation for the Cheyenne. Electroplating is a plating process that uses electrical current to reduce cat ions of a desired material from a solution and coat a conductive object with a thin layer of the material, such as a metal. Electroplating is primarily used for depositing a layer of material to bestow a desired property (e.g., abrasion and wear resistance, corrosion protection, lubricity, aesthetic qualities, etc.) to a surface that otherwise lacks that property. The anode is connected to the positive terminal of the supply, and the cathode (article to be plated) is connected to the negative terminal. When the external power supply is switched on, the metal at the anode is oxidized from the zero valence state to form cations with a positive charge. These cations associate with the anions in the solution. The cations are reduced at the cathode to deposit in the metallic, zero valence state. For example, in an acid solution, copper is oxidized at the anode to Cu2+ by losing two electrons. The Cu2+ associates with the anion SO42 in the solution to form copper sulfate. At the cathode, the Cu2+ is reduced to metallic copper by gaining two electrons. The result is the effective transfer of copper from the anode source to a plate covering the cathode. The plating is most commonly a single metallic element, not an alloy. However, some alloys can be electrodeposited, notably brass and solder. Many plating baths include cyanides of other metals (e.g., potassium cyanide) in addition to cyanides of the metal to be deposited. These free

I think that social media is a good thing because you can have so much fun on it and even make friends on in. Without that you would be limited to the kids in your neighborhood and in some places there are not a lot of kids that you can make friends with or they do not live close so you have to drive there. That is all fixed with social media. Like recently I have found some friends on social media that I play games with. They are super nice and without social media I would have never had that experience I would have to play be myself all the time and have no one to talk to. But now I have the chance to make friends and have fun with them even tho they live far away. Also colleges and most jobs look at your social media account to see what kind of person you are and if you are able to work so not only can you have fun but you can also potentially make money from it and you can make friends. What skills are important in the instruction of phonemic awareness? a.Phonemic awareness is the ability to hear, isolate, identify, and manipulate the discrete sounds of language, this only involves the sounds of speech and not the letters or words. b.The skills important when instructing phonemic awareness are concepts of print, recognizing/producing rhyme, syllable tasks, blending syllables, phonemic tasks and onset and rime (word families). When instructing phonemic awareness, the reader should emphasize sounds and use visual and oral instruction whenever possible, such as manipulatives. 2.Why is visualization such an important comprehension skill for readers? How can we teach visualization to struggling readers? a.Visualization, or mental imagery, helps students make a picture of the readingin their minds by relating text to personal experiences from prior knowledge. Visualization is such an important comprehension skill because students cannot remember what they are reading if they cannot picture the story in their head. It would be similar to memorizing text and having no techniques to remember the text. However, by visualizing, the reader is creating a personal connection with the text and activating prior knowledge. Therefore, they are able to picture and recall what they are reading. b.We can teach visualization to struggling readers, specifically students with disabilities, by having them think about what they see, hear, smell,

The Protest Of The Little India Riot On the night of 8 December 2013, Singapore came face to face with the incident that put an end to the riot free track record we had been enjoying for over 40 years. The Little India riot was a wake up call in our usually stable sociopolitical climate. Over 400 foreign workers, mostly under the influence of alcohol, had violently attacked the policeand destroyed governmentproperty after a foreign workerhad been killed in an accident. It is important to note that this incident had occurred in the light of the formation of an increasingly complex society, where more than one fifth of the population comprises foreigners. Various issues such as overcrowding and tensions between foreigners and Singaporeans are among rising concerns. It also seems to be becoming a more liberal society. These changes in society should be accompanied by respective changes in the government, with the focus on conscientiously addressing the old, and the new concerns of the society. The riot was indicative of the government s shortfall in its foreseeing of issues and decision making, evidencing the need to learn new lessons. Anticipation of a future problem before it occurs is something the government can learn from the riot for better management of the society. Visitors and residents of Little India had been experiencing frequent overcrowding, with crowds numbering in the thousands especially on Sundays, when foreign workers get a day off. In addition, there were many cases of public

Historians have argued that the church played huge part in the lives of the people in New France. Despite being far away from the leaders of the church and thus not directly under their control, the church still played a role in the lives of the people of New France. By the 1600s Jesuit missionaries had entered New France and started their attempts to convert the First Nations people. As more settlers moved into New France it was more difficult for the church to keep its status. They attempted with various methods to convert more First Nations and keep the European settlers in the church. However, post 1663, after the creation of the Royal Colony, the issues regarding religion and the issues it was causing did not decrease. A large part of the Western world considered China as less developed than them, despite the fact that China had existed long before these countries. Certain people in China grew very tired of being treated as underlings as they felt that the people of the western world were taking advantage of them. Because of this a secret alliance began; a dangerous union which grew into a desperate attempt to purify China from all western thought. Hence the Boxer Rebellion, which was a formation of young people bent on destroying any and everything to do with western thought. Like the situation involving Savonarola and the destruction of classical texts, participants in the rebellion harmed and killed many missionaries, destroying homes, people, and even hospitals; they burned a racecourse built by the English, and were involved in many lengthy battles. This ruler would rule his people independently, without assistance unlike the Mauryan Empire, where the ruler would have a bureaucracy and government of a variety of ministries and spies to regulate his people and keep his people informed. In this empire, the ruler kept his country protected, having a large military force of several thousands at his hands. Australia a nation known for its multiculturalism and diversity didn t always accept migrants, in fact Australia did not accept all people until they dismantled the White Australia Policy a policy that had been in place since 1901 the policy was in place with the sole purpose of excluding people who were not desirable and only abolished shortly after the events of World War II, Past events have helped create and shape Australia s unique identity of today. Jane calls several different places home throughout her life, and encounters different milestones and challenges that shape her into a person at each one. The names given to these places and the people Jane comes across in them are used to represent what will happen to her while she is living there. Bronte s use of the meanings of names as symbols is called etymology. For the duration of Jane s time moving between several different homes in England, her life changes drastically, causing her to adapt to new situations and develop as a person. Are Friends Better Than Seinfeld Why Friends is a Better Sitcom Than Seinfeld While the 90s notoriously brought us a myriad of classic sitcoms, there are none as infamous as Friends and Seinfeld. The two are often compared due to their simultaneous airings and similar audiences, but there is no doubt that Friends is the better sitcom. In the world of television, there exists an elusive and uncommonly used tactic that draws viewers in and makes a show golden. This tactic is rare, so rare that Seinfeld obviously has not heard of it. This tactic? A plotline. Seinfeld is dubbed the show about nothing because this is exactly what viewers get out of watching it: nothing. No moral lesson, no ethical value, no storyline. Just four characters acting in completely asinine ways for 30 minutes without a purpose. Friends, on the other hand, always teaches us something by the end of the episode. In the Seinfeld universe, a hospital is a place where a Junior Mint is ejected into the abdominal cavity of an unsuspecting patient. While Friends uses a devastating fire to show Rachel and Phoebe becoming closer as roommates, Seinfeld uses a fire to show George actively pushing children out of the way to save himself. Wedding envelopes characterize a new beginning for Monica and Chandler in Friends, while they quite literally cause the death of George s fiancГ©e in Seinfeld. Last but certainly not least, the overall satisfaction of the finales of both shows is incomparable. The Seinfeld finale is the sloppy, unnecessarily collective, last minute project of a procrastinating student; the Friends finale is the thoughtful, well put together dissertation of a successful graduate

Conflict Of Self In John Calvin, The Accusative Case John Calvin s Conflict of Self John Calvin, the Accusative Case as he was called by friends, was known for being a stern and humorless theologian and in truth he was, but there was more to him than just that. Throughout his career, he was staunch in the belief of predetermination above all other thought. Unlike Luther, Calvin had not begun life with the mindset of being a preacher, but he arguably had just as much, if not more of an impact as a reformer. More humanist than previous reformers, but not truly that either, Calvin existed in a state of conflict. Calvin was educated as a French Humanist with a less than humanist view of predestination that culminated in an influential, but unfulfilled life. Calvin had a different beginning to that of most reformists, which lent him a unique perspective. According to Calvin his father had destined me for the study of theology. But afterwards, when he considered that the legal profession commonly raised those who followed it to wealth , but in truth he could not initially join the church due to the very same father embezzling money. I have always been attracted to politicsand the more time I spend studing politics the more I realize why. Political scientist do not agree on a definition and for more than 2,000 years there has been different interpretations of what the science portion is inclusive of. In class we discussed this and we were presented with the interpretation of political scienceas Who gets What, When, How . At Georgia Southern University the Political Science Department seperates the dicipline into four fields, Political Theory, American Politics, Comparitive Politics and International Politics. Comparing concepts from the four different fields can give us a more philosophical approach to the dicipline. With a higher degree of understanding, we can accomplish more with the knowledge we share. Political Theory From my understanding, political theory tends to be a sub discipline that is much less discussed than the others. Political theory reflects or engages the philosophical foundations of the study of politics . Pondering about this subdiscipline, it is very possible to come to the premature assumption that political theory is the blood flow of political studies. In some

If you are someone who holds an interest in European stocks, then the following are the exchanges that you need to place focus on. London Stock Exchange Found deep within the heart of London, the London Stock Exchange ranks as the 4th largest stock exchange in the world and certainly has age and experience on its side. Founded back in 1801, it s located next to the historic St Paul s Cathedral and is an international market in almost every sense of the word. At last count there were more than 3,000 brands from 70 different countries present and accounted for. What helps make the London Stock Exchange such a haven for European stocks is the fact that it is open to both upstart and already established markets. The Alternative Investment Market (AIM) opens its doors to lesser known names and gives them a platform to openly promote themselves to traders. If you are looking to invest in European stocks the London Stock Exchange represents a great place to start. There are two core design characteristics associated with DRG based payments; an exhaustive patient case classification system (i.e. the system of diagnosis related groupings) and the payment formula, which is based on the base rate multiplied by a relative cost weight specific for each DRG (Mathauer Wittenbecher, 2013). These values can be set for the components and the potential effect as policy levers as they are evaluated. Importantly, the qualitative and quantitative effect of a DRG based payment system is also contingent upon the payment mechanism that is replaced (Mathauer Wittenbecher, 2013). Certain issues that are induced by payment methodologies like the DRG, are the unwanted incentives to increase hospital admissions, up coding and the under provision of necessary services. Detailed in the article are the piloting of such a system; problems with coding standardization, data availability and information technology requirements; integration of the private sector, and hospital autonomy (Mathauer Wittenbecher, 2013). Fee for Service (FFS) Fee for service is a payment model where services are paid for separately, in health care, as opposed to bundeling them. It gives an incentive for physicians to provide more treatments because payment is dependent on the quantity of care, rather than quality of care. • 49. Increase The Toughness Of Steels After Quenching Process Abstract: Tempering is an important heat treating process, which is used to increase the toughness of steels after quenching process. Hollomon Jaffe equation H=T(c+logвЃЎt ) is widely used to predict hardness with different tempering temperature and tempering time. T is the tempering temperature, t is the tempering time and c is the constant for the specific steel. The physical explanation of c constant was not clear. In this paper, the hardness and c/a ratio of tempered martensite for AISI 4140 were measured by X Ray Diffraction and Rietveld refinement. The result reveals that the c/a ratio decreases instantly within the first 60s tempering time. After analysis based on the experiment results and derivation of Hollomon Jaffe equation, c, the parameter in Hollomon Jaffe equation, is found to stand for the slope of carbon hardness curve. Key words: Tempering, martensite, X ray diffraction, Hollomon Jaffe equation 1. Introduction All steels that are hardened are subjected to a subcritical heat treatment referred to as tempering . Tempering improves the toughness of as quenched martensite (body center tetragonal) but lowers strength and hardness 1, . The microstructure transformation is very complex: Stage1: The formation of transition carbides and lowering of the carbon content of the martensite to 0.25% (100 to 250в„ѓ) Stage2: The transformation of retained austenite to ferrite and cementite (200 to 300в„ѓ) Stage3: The replacement of transition carbides and low temperature
