Literary Devices In Beowulf
Beowulf through the eyes of Tolkien Trilogies like the Lord of The Rings and the Hobbit have had
great historical and linguistic significance in the literary world, capturing the attention of many.
However, the aesthetic and craft like qualities of these works are at times ignored and not
appreciated enough to create more interest. For a literary giant like J.R.R. Tolkien, his speech of
Beowulfbeing noteworthy the way it is because of its artistic characteristics are only accomplished
by the use of specific rhetorical devices to achieve his point. Taken from his essay Beowulf:The
Monsters and the Critics. presented at the 1936 British Academy Lecture, he first starts off by
presenting the arguments that have been formed about Beowulf and continues to counter argue
them in order to make a stronger and more elaborate point, which is enhanced with his use of
authoritative language. Tolkien also dives deep into written technique that is embedded into
Beowulf, which is accompanied with a artistic like analysis. In the end, Tolkien is successful in
painting a picture to the audience his opinion about Beowulf s artful qualities, because his effective
use of rhetorical strategies throughout creates the poem to be more than a historical epic and piece
of fiction.
In starting his lecture, Tolkien lays out criticism that poem has received about placing more
importance to non literary aspects, and counter argues his own opinion to establish that the artful
qualities it possesses

Video Gaming
As a concerned parent, one would easily feel coaxed to venture into analyzing every aspect of
the child s welfare from a day to day perspective. There is a common concern over what the kids
play around with as well as the impacts created upon the receiver. Similarly, the use of video
gaming presents a common challenge as to whether the games are of benefit or not in the
educational system. Video gaming involves the use of computers and other technology devices to
access a variety of games in the format of videos. The gaming hypothesizes to offer entertainment
and educational information, especially, in cases where the game covers a specific topic in the
contemporary society (Squire, K. 2013). However, the current situation in the industry presents a
prospective possibility of the video gaming posing a threat to the educational development. Video
gaming may support the cognitive development of children and nurture the social and interpersonal
traits.
Video sports date back to the early stages of the 1970s. The first video game finds its place in the
year 1940 during the World s Fair exhibition by the Westinghouse. The video gaming used to be a
form of a computer system that portrayed a simple machine with a game plan. In the match, the
players competed on avoiding the process of picking the last matchstick within the game period.
However, after the first program,

The Problem Of The Classroom Authority
Attention colleague: I have surveyed some of my students about the quality of your class, per
your request. The overwhelming response I received related specifically to how you deliver
instructions in the class. Many students reflected that when ask questions such as Is that where
that book goes? , What did you forget to put on your paper? , and Would you like to sit down? you
lose your credibility as the classroom authority. I am writing concerning this issue because of my
desire to share with you information I have recently learned in relation to the differences in
characteristics of authority between white, working class communities and black, poverty stricken
communities. I will also explain the linguistic concept code switching, which is the ability to read
the context of an environment and actively choose the language style that fits the environment, as
mentioned in Wheeler (2008), and how this will lend a hand to you having more of an authoritative
presence in the classroom.
In the classroom, educators are the ones wielding the power and I believe you already understand
this, which plays out in how educators speak to their students. From all the information my
students have given me, I believe you are talking to them the same way your middle working class
parents spoke to you and I believe that you understand that when you ask students to perform a task,
you are implicitly telling them to complete the task. Delpit (1998) says that working class white

Marriage Is A Problem Based On Stereotypes And Unrealistic...
Marriages and Scripts
Marriage is a concept that few people really understand and most underestimate. With the last four
scripts it is clear that, marriage is a problem based on stereotypes and unrealistic expectations.
While reading the last plays, Dolls House,Who s Afraid of Virgina Woolf, Fences, and Disgraced
there is one clear correlation between them all, crumbling marriages. There is this foreign concept
that people may not even have to like their partner in the beginning, but later on in marriage they
will soon love them. This idea is false, however, as it is clear that during life two partners become
dependent on each other, and this coziness is conceived as love. Furthermore, they then get so used
to marriage and each other that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What I did find remarkable was Nora and her strength to leave her husband and children. Unlike
the other pieces Dolls House focuses more on children and the effect they have on a married couple.
Children are generally thought of as making marriage more valuable to the spouses, as they
represent a long term commitment (that can be seen also as a form of long term investment in the
marriage relationship) which may reinforce marriage stability. On the other hand, children may
bring about marital conflict by affecting dramatically the household allocation of time and money
and contributing a degree of uncertainty, as children s preferences and behavior are not known to
parents ex ante. (Bellido).
In this marriage, much like Troy and Rose in Fences, having children broke this marriage. It
would have been easier to stay for Nora if it was not a constant reminder that she would be the
corruption in her children, and the overwhelming fear that she would be the cause of their
downfall. It is brought up several times the conflict of leaving her children or staying and being a
mother they do not deserve. She is constantly thinking about this through the second half, but she
does not worry about Torvald. She even states that she does not love him and was only there
because it was her duty as a woman to marry a rich man, and have his children. That was the
problem that the pieces face, no matter what time period, forcing love only seems to be

The Utilization Of Prescription Drug
The utilization of prescription drug has increased in recent times. The availability of these
medications has resulted in the treatment of numerous infections and ailments. These drugs
alleviate chronic pain, depression and anxiety, sleep apnea, and much more. For an efficient health
system, the main goal is to provide quality health care to all patients. However, over the years,
there have been many legal and health controversies over drugs and the effects that they have on
the body. The process of prescription drugstarts from a lab and ultimately sojourns with the end
user. The drugs undergo testing and are often developed to treat a specific disease before being
reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA).
Healthcare organizations use formulary systems in order to efficiently dispense prescription drugs.
According to Steiner (2014), a formulary system is an ongoing process whereby healthcare
organization establishes policies regarding the use of drugs. This system also identifies the best
medically appropriate and cost effective drugs to best serve patients. The process of this method
includes a list of drugs approved by healthcare professionals. Some of the issues involved in
implementing formulary systems stem from legal challenges such as anti substituting or generic
substituting laws, federal and state drug laws, and trademark laws (Steiner, 2014). In the case of anti
substituting or generic substituting, it is imperative that pharmacists are quite

The Devil s Advocate
Oftentimes, movies about lawyers make it seem like the characters sell their souls to the devil,
but in The Devil s Advocate, they literally do. This movie chronicles the story of Kevin Lomax
(Keanu Reeves), a successful defense lawyer, and his later revealed father John Milton (Al
Pacino), the head of New York City law firm, and Satan. Throughout the movie, Milton slowly
coaxes Lomax away from his family and morals, and towards his selfish, prideful ways in an
attempt to have Kevin help him create the Anti Christ. In the end, Kevin rejects his father and his
evilplan by killing himself, but fortunately, he receives a second chance at life to make right
choices. The movie s director, Taylor Hackford, uses the devil s role in the Hebrew Bible,

The Pros And Cons Of Video Games
The current world and generation is almost dependent on technology, especially the younger
generation. With new technology brings new forms of entertainment, particularly video games and
movies. Even though we don t think about it, video games and movies are relatively new
inventions. They have changed society and will likely keep changing it for a long time. Though
they are usually associated with a positive connotation, there are people who think differently. Since
it s inception, media has also been associated with manipulating the impressionable minds of
children, particularly violent media. In the past, it s been violent literature. Nowadays, it s been
violent video games and movies. The criticisms of these particular forms of media... Show more

Movies are also among the most pirated forms of media which makes it even easier for minors to
view such material. A notable instance of violent media being scapegoated as a reason of violent
behavior is the Columbine High School Massacre of 1999 in which Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris,
students at Columbine, gunned down 12 students and a teacher, while also injuring a teacher.
The pair were eventually found to be avid players of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Duke Nukem,
violent video games. They were also fans of the 1994 movie Natural Born Killers, which is
about two mass murders. The parents of the Columbine victims also sued the publishers of the
video games that Klebold and Harris played, blaming the video games for the shooting. But what
the parents and many other people overlooked is that the two boys were victims of bullying and
depression. So it s unfair and unwise to put the blame solely on video games and movies are
reasoning behind the shooting. Violent media such as movies and video games have a mental
effect on young children and minors, but their daily lives dictate whether or not they make them
violent in nature. The reason video games and movies on their own don t dictate whether or not
they make children violent could be found in Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory which
basically says that people, not just children, learn from the action of others such as friends, family,
and peers. An experiment was performed in 1961, in

The Role Of Art In The Aztec Art
Art was used by the Aztecs upper class to set them apart from the lower class. They adorned
themselves with feathers, jewelry and fancy clothes. The rich also owned paintings, statues and
music to honor and praise their gods. Most of the lower class, however, could make art but only to
sell to the rich. The Aztecempire had an appreciation and fascination with birds, bugs and
animals. These animals were praised and admired and as a result, they were popular subjects in
the Aztec art. Aztecs believed that their gods took the forms of animals. Paintings of them were
always brightly colored. The Emperor received art as tribute. The Aztecs considered art as a tool
to reinforce their dominance. Jewelry made from copper, jade, obsidian and gold was also
reserved for the Emperor. He had such a variety of clothing and jewelry, it is said that he never
wore the same thing twice. There were rules in the Aztec society that told which rank of people
could wear which type of clothing. For example, only nobles and the Emperor could wear
clothing decorated with feathers, beads and other pretty things. Farmers and other lower class
people could not. If this law was broken, the consequence was death. The Emperor and noble
families also had their bodies pierced so they could wear more jewelry. Statues and brightly
colored paintings would adorn their walls and set them apart from the lower class and maintain
their high class status. Different materials are used to make art such as coral,

The Most Formative Experience Of My Christian Life

i. The Most Formative Experience of My Christian Life:
I grew up in Pakistan with a diverse culture around me. Before moving to the U.S., the city I
grew up in was a blend of people who lived there because of their jobs, education and business
purposes. I learned that poverty, marginalization and violence, neither had a religion nor selects
people of a specific faith to attack them. This made me devote myself to the church and its
programs to serve all children of God spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and fighting for
social justice against the systemic evil in the world.
At church, in addition to my participation in the worship services, I volunteered at our church s
soup kitchen, medical camps and elementary school for underprivileged children. These
experiences opened my eyes to the deprivation of love and care in the world and a dire need of God
s grace for people at large so they could receive forgiveness, healing and restoration in their lives.
My spiritual formation took a new turn when in 2013 my parents house was burned down in an
arson. At that time, I was living with my parents. Since, the house was not insured, our local church
and our acquaintances in the neighborhood helped us financially so we could rebuild our house,
while a family in the neighborhood gave us shelter at their house. The love and care of the

A Woman s Right Of Abortion
A Woman s Right to Abortion
Roe v. Wade, 1973 On January 22, 1973, the supreme court justices came to a decision about
abortion. I am going to start off by giving some general information about the laws passed and
other events that have led the abortion laws to where they are now. In 1821, Connecticut passed the
first law that restricted abortion in the United States. It prohibited the use of toxins to cause a
miscarriage. Back then, women usually didn t know they were pregnant until the baby started
kicking inside them or a little bit before. This law made it illegal for women to make themselves
miscarry by taking those toxins. In 1873, Anthony Comstock lobbied to pass the Comstock Law
which was a law banning, distributing or the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the 1960 s, Pat Maginnis founded the Society for Humane Abortion. She was one of the first
people to try to legalize abortion. They thought she was insane, Reagan said. A lady named
Sherri Finkbine was a mother of four who lived in Arizona. In 1962, she was denied a request by
the hospital for a legal abortion so she traveled to Sweden to get one. She had taken the drug
thalidomide, which researchers linked to various birth defects. The hospital withdrew its offer
to Finkbine after she told her story to the local newspaper for the purpose of alerting women and
soon to be mothers of the dangers of he drug. The publicity she got from the newspaper article
threw her into the middle of the world wide debate. In 1969, a few young women in Chicago
started an underground system nicknamed Jane. This system helped women find safe and
affordable but still illegal abortions. These ladies learned to perform them by themselves.
According to a documentary about the group, they completed nearly 12,000 abortions in about 4
years. By the 1970 s, 20 states had passed abortion reform or repeal laws. Alaska, New York,
Hawaii, and Washington had legalized abortion. The Supreme Court legalized birth control pills in
1972. This made it legal for all women to have access to birth control pills, no matter what their
marital status was. Before this, only married women were allowed to be on birth control pills. They
realized that having single woman not on birth

The term impersonator is considered somewhat demeaning in the acting world, suggesting that the
actor has simply copied the manner, dialect, and behavior of a character, instead of creating the
character. There are times when such a skill is useful when a filmmaker needs a portrayal of a

Even though he can be considered a personality actor, no one would argue that Nicholson, who
has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards and won three, is a brilliant actor. And actors like
Humphrey Bogart and Cary Grant remain popular personalities more than half a century after their
heyday. But a lesser talent who relies too much on personality risks staying power. Will audiences
50 years from now recognize the strength of personality? Or will it simply seemed mannered and
curious, a distraction instead of a beloved trait?
Stars
To define a star, think about a personality actor, only more so. A star is a distinctive screen
persona, who is well known and popular with the moviegoing public, often to the point that
some avid movie fans become deeply curious about the actor s private life Hollywood has a long
love affair with stars, since the days of Charlie Chaplin and Mary Pickford. Stars are actors who
are simply famous on screen and off, personalities so magnetic that we are interested not just in
their movies but in their personal lives as well. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are both talented
actors. But they re also famous stars, so much so that tabloids and gossip sites endlessly speculate
on their relationship, their children, and every other aspect of their lives. Obviously this has been
taken to almost absurd extremes today, where Web sites breathlessly report the content of text

Endogenous DNA Damage
Since the DNA structure was discovered more than 50 years ago, the mechanisms how genetic
information encoded by DNA was preserved and how the integrity of transmission in between
generations was maintained have been one of the top questions kept being asked. It has been well
accepted that the integrity of human genome is maintained by mechanisms to protect DNAfrom
damage either generated spontaneously during endogenous DNA biogenesis including replication
or transcription or induced by exogenous environmental factors (Ciccia and Elledge, 2010; Jackson
and Bartek, 2009; Lord and Ashworth, 2012).
Endogenous DNA damage can be due to alterations of DNA during replication, transcription, or

Failure of overcoming such lesions will cause chromosome duplication failure and may lead to
mitotic catastrophe, complex chromosomal rearrangements, and tumorigenesis. Multiple
mechanisms are developed by the cells to sense and respond to such type of lesions. In replication
fork stalling, the cell senses the lesion with replication protein A as well as its downstream factors.
At the same time, the Fanconi Anemia proteins facilitates the interstrand crosslinking lesions (see
next section, 1.3.2). Particularly, FANCM, together with its binding partners MHFs and
FAAP24, will facilitate the activation of ATR/CHK1 signaling pathway for further repair. After
proper responses to the replication stresses, the stalled or collapsed replication forks will be
restarted (Collis et al., 2008; Wang et al., 2013). Under certain circumstances, single strand DNA
gaps will remain on the DNA strand even though the stalled replication forks are successfully
overcome, in which a DNA clamp, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), and other proteins
will function in a postreplication repair to further fix the damages left (Tian et al.,

It is estimated that ISIS daily income from oil sales is around $3 million dollars for an estimated
annual income of $1.3 and $2 billion, making it the world s best funded terrorist group. (Levitt,

ability to rent house, tax the population, and charging for utilities like water and electricity. It is
estimated the ISIS brings in about $900 million a year from residents and businessmen in

Harvey Munson Research Paper
The ears are one of the most complex and interesting systems thats human body has and the sounds
we hear are actually in many different parts deflected, absorbed, and also filtered by our different
body parts. It s then collected by our pinnae (the external part of or ears), whose dimensions further
affect the soundon its way into ear. There, vibrations are translated into signals, which are
interpreted by your brain. In the 1930s, two scientists at Bell Labs, Harvey Fletcher and Wilden A.
Munson researched this process and what they discovered has changed and affected how we as
humans understand the hearing process.

The Loudness button on consumer stereo receivers is an equalization circuit that boosts the highs
and lows as the volume is lowered so the music will sound the same whether soft or loud. Noise
shaping circuits filter dither and quantization noise into the extreme upper range, where we will
simply notice it less.
To describe the concept of equal loudness regardless of frequency, the unit phon was developed.
Each curve of the equal loudness contours defines a single phon level. For example, the curve
that is 40 dB SPL at 1 kHz is defined as 40 phons; 40 phons at 10 kHz is therefore approximately
50 dB SPL and at 100 Hz slightly more than 60 dB SPL. Phons and decibels SPL are the same for
a 1 kHz tone an increase of 10 phons is equal to an increase of 10 dB at 1 kHz, but it may be more
or less at other frequencies. Many audio measurements are made using weighting curves that
attempt to skew the results in favor of the way we actually hear. For example, the signal to noise
ratio of a microphone preamp might be listed as 108 dB A weighted, or sometimes just 108
dB(A). This means that the noise was filtered before measurement to exclude the extreme lows
and highs to approximately the same degree our ears do at 40 phons. The rationale is that if we
listen to the device at that level, then we will perceive the noise floor to be

and postmodern criminology providing a comparison as well as a contrast to each.
Discussion
There are several theories developing critical theories of criminology, the first discussed in this
paper will be conflict theory (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The conflict theory is the inequality of
competing groups, moreover, the different social statuses of individuals. This theory compares the
differences in white collar crime to the crime of the blue collar class. White collar crime is mostly
money related crimes, including embezzlement, committed by the economically elite, conversely,
blue collar crime is considered more violent as well ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The structure of this societal hierarchy places a few individuals in the higher ranks of society with
the majority within the lower ranks, the proverbial winners as compared to the losers. This theory
bases crime upon the various class struggles to obtain wealth within an unequal economic
environment. The lower class struggles to obtain the same level of material wealth held by those
of the higher classes creating an extremely competitive environment leading to individuals taking
advantage of the weaker members of society to further their own level of wealth. The radical
theory defines crime as the deprivation of basic human rights, as individuals compete for a portion
of societal wealth in an unequally distributed market they become overly competitive with one
another leading to what is described as senseless violence.
The third theory discussed in this paper is the peacemaking criminology, this theory is a non
violent approach to change society through the transformations beginning at the individual level
(Bohm Vogel, 2011). The theorist of peacemaking view suffering as the cause of crime, expressing
the need for a change within society to become for aware of the needs of those less fortunate,
moreover, working together to resolve those issues. This theory views the acts of punishing
individuals for crimes committed as the source for continued criminal acts. A shift from

Building Pledge Sunday Essay
Sunday, September 25, Building Pledge Sunday, is an important celebration in the life of this
congregation of Christ s Church. God has blessed Shady Grove with a much needed building
addition that began in 2009 and was completed in 2010. The addition has made it far easier to
host fellowship meals. It has also become a place for meetings, and fellowship gatherings from
large to small, as well as a Sunday School meeting place, and a place for Youth Movie Night and
Vacation Bible School. The building addition has been a blessing to us and our community.
Financially, we have made great progress. The original cost was $800,000 and because of faithful
giving and financial gifts, we are more than half way in paying for our wonderful addition. The...

Anne Bradstreet Influence
Anne was the first poet of America. Her writing style reflected things and events that occurred
during her lifetime. For her, writing poetry was an outlet for stress being that she was a Puritan
and they did not allow women to be educated. Anne Bradstreet s poems directly reflected her
emotions and how she processed the events around her. A lot of her poetryis sad and somber. Being
that she is a Puritan she has a lot of biblical references in her poems. In The Flesh and the Spirit
Anne takes these two objects and personifies them. She created an environment Where the Flesh
and the Spirit where two sisters arguing, Spirit says, Sisters are we, yea, twins we be, yet deadly
feud twixt thee and me; for one father are we not, thou by old Adam wast begot, (223) she tells the
sister that their feud has not been resolved. Flesh took interest with earthly things while Spirit
indulged in meditating and trying to get to heaven. Sprit mentions the old Adam part because the
Puritans thought that man lost to sin after the fall of old Adam but then man was redeemed when
Jesus was sacrificed.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Here follows some verses upon the Burning of Our House, July 10th, 1666 Anne wrote about
how she went to sleep she woke up as her house were burning down. She cried but then after it
burned down. She said I blest his name that gave and took, that laid my good now in the dust
(232) because she notes that those were God s possessions and not hers. Though she says this at
the end of the poem she lets readers know that she has not reconciled with her loss of possessions.
Though it seems like she submitted to God, she stills feel sorrow because of her house burning
down. Though Bradstreet is a Puritan and she has not lost her faith it does revel that she does have
some emotion attachment to earthly things. It just makes her have to be active in her faith so that
she can make it to

1880 American Living Conditions
The Living Conditions in an American City in 1880 No country can be well governed unless its
citizens as a body keep religiously before their minds that they are the guardians of the law, and that
the law officers are only the machinery for its execution, nothing more (Twain, 1873). The
Reconstruction was officially over with the Compromise of 1877 which finally withdrew the last
military troops in the South. United Statesas a nation experienced a variety of significant and drastic
changing beginning in that period. Former slaves gained their freedom and this fact permitted them
mobility. United States saw a great influx of immigrants that altered their course of history, bringing

Crime and disorder became the norm in the cities at the time. Illegal gains became a queer ladder
of social mobility according to sociologist Daniel Bell (p. 420). Prostitution was another plague
that affected society at the time. Women sometimes with very little options and in a very
competitive labor market fell prey to prostitution as the only viable way to make a living. The
local taverns became a place for many to escape the stress of a very fast pace life style and the
often cruel conditions of society. An ineffective government opened the way for political machines
to take control of local governments and start creating the tools and means to address those social
necessities. These political groups were organizations that provided social services and jobs in

Auguste Rodin Theme Of Life
Life on the inside, reflects life on the outside. ~ Robin S. Sharma. When creating sculptures one of
the most popular themes to create is that of life. This is as it is a very broad theme giving each
artist their own platform to show what it means to them. There are many sculptores that have taken
on the theme of life. Some of these include Michelangelo, Andy Goldsworthy and Jason Decaires
Taylor; however, Auguste Rodinand Janet Laurence are two of the most interesting artists to explore
in the way that they created life through sculpture. Sculpture is... the most diverse and evolving
artistic medium. (Leaper, C. (2003))
Although both artists use sculptural methods, they interpret life very differently. Rodin explores it
through emotions and inner turmoil while Laurence through the environment and our relationship
with it. To put it simply: Rodin looks within himself to find inspiration for his artwork while
Laurence looks outside to find meaning.
Auguste Rodin, who was born November 12, 1840, and died November 17 1917 is a French
artist who is well known for his sculptures. He uses traditional, figurative imagery to convey
meaning, to express life and emotions in his work. Some of his most famous statues include:
The Thinker, The Cathedral and Pierre and Jacques De Wissant, Right Hand. While Rodin is a
well known artist now, he wasn t widely established until he was in his 40s. To Rodin, art was the
expression of life. (Israel, G. (2002). Artwise 2 (pp. 8 9).

My Project I Started Volunteering At St. Vincent De Paul
For my project I started volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul with Hannah. We unloaded boxes,
organized items, and sometimes even directly helped a customer. However during this time I
never felt like anything clicked. I couldn t make any connections. It s not that they weren t there;
I just wasn t able to really pick up on much that I could write about. So I decided to take a
different route. I had a friend that I used to work with who had been arrested and been to jail
before and I asked him if he would elaborate on his experiences so that I might find something
that would tug on my heart strings and give me something I would feel passionate enough about
to write a paper. I was pleasantly surprised to get more than what I had bargained for. He really
brought me into his world. Light bulbs started going off above my head and I m excited to share
these with you.
I interviewed my previous coworker who is a small time drug dealer. He has been arrested six
times, been to jail for a few months a couple times, as well as spending several random nights in
jail. His first arrest occurred at eighteen. He was out making his rounds selling marijuana and got
caught selling to a minor. He had bags of weed on him as well as the paraphernalia used to smoke
it like pipes and roach clips. This resulted in a felony charge and two misdemeanor charges on his
record. Because this was his first offense he only had to stay a month in jail. When I asked him
how it was to be in jail for the first

In any generation cheating has never been okay, but somehow slowly throughout the years a
one night is now somehow somewhat okay. If someone came with the excuse it was just a one
night thing, it will never happen again. There is a chance (surprisingly) that that person would
get a second chance. Or Vice Versa. For example if a guy or girl is asked to spend just one night
with their ex boyfriend/ girlfriend and then give them a lustful temptation, there is a chance the
guy/girl will agree (surprisingly). Even if they are already in a relationship with someone else, but
will try to convince themselves and make it sound less scandal less so they don t feel guilty by

you are the one asking, but if you re the one being asked you either have to tell them you re not
interested (which is a hard thing to do.) or you think about getting back with them/ give them a
second chance which is even harder because them you would have to face the consequences after

Theatre Evaluation
The world of Theatre allows people from all around the world an outlet to express themselves and
convey a message or tell a story. The question as to what the ideal theatre performance would be
from an audience s perspective ultimately depends on many different factors; including age, culture,
traditions, preferences etc. However, for me personally as a member of the audienceI would want to
see several different elements incorporated into the show and ultimately I would want a clear
concreate story line to follow.
First and foremost I would want the location of the show to be in an open arena stage. Not only
because of the practicality of this type of location but also because it offers an almost aerial view,
depending on where your sitting at the performance. Plus, the audience gets more of an
immersion into the show with this setup as well. Considering the fact that they nearly surround
the actors on all four sides. Allowing for multiple focal points on the stage, giving each individual
member of the audience their own preference as to what or who they want to observe. In this
setting I would like to see a Melodrama being performed that incorporates a broad display of
choreographed group ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In other words I would want to have the orchestra play at the ideal moments to accent the actions
of the scene. I would want the props to be noticeable and add to the overall atmosphere of the
setting and action taking place. Also I would want the lighting to add an extra layer of depth to the
performance, adding the crucial amount of sinister drama to the villain or heavenly light to the
hero. These elements I would want to be used in a very thoughtful consistent manner. For example,
a harp should play every time the female love interest appears or the villain s entrance should be
accented by the theme track to

How Did Alchemy Change The World
Alchemy: The Science that Changed the World Alchemy is a complex protoscience based on the
supposed transformation of matter. Alchemy has a long rich history and is still used today but due
to all the superstition many people do not even give it a second glance. Even studying Alchemy can
be hard, it is difficult to understand and practice, but the basic things to know about Alchemyare:
what it is, where it came from and how it is used today. Alchemy s official definition is: a
philosophical and protoscience that nature had secrets to give and that they could be revealed
through laboratory examination and experimentation. So it is a sciencebefore the modern scientific

Uranium are being transmuted into Iodine or Plutonium. The process is to use radioactivity to
decay stable substances. Now a way to make a transmutation of gold is with mercury. However it
is unable to be used with a nuclear reactor so instead a particle accelerator is used. A particle
accelerator used electromagnetic fields to accelerate a proton, an electron, or a sub atomic
particle. However this process takes time and lots of energy so using it as an economical way of
producing gold is not recommended. Alchemy is not a dead science; it goes by new names like

The Importance Of Heteronormativity In School Education
Introduction
Despite improvement in recent years, LGBT+ people still face systematic inequality in western
society. This results in discrimination and prejudice towards them, or a reluctance to talk about
LGBT+ issues. When it comes to education, the current situation in many western countries is that
there is little or no information available about LGBT+ topics for students, in part because of the
stigma that still surrounds LGBT+ identities. Indeed, up until 2003, it was illegal in the UK for
schools to promote the teaching [and the] acceptability of homosexuality (Legislation.gov.uk, 2017),
and LGBT+ education is still a controversial topic in many places today. For example, in New
York, a teacher was recently fired for teaching 11 to 16 year olds about LGBT+ terms, because
parents complained it was inappropriate for the children to learn about them (Toscano, 2017).
Thus, there is still a view that LGBT+ identities are inappropriate or even unsafe for children,
which partially explains this lack of information given to students at school. In the UK, a survey
published this year found that 40 per cent of LGBT pupils are never taught anything about LGBT
issues (Bradlow et al, 2017).
The prevalence of heteronormativity in school education paired with the lack of LGBT+
information is a serious problem, as it puts pressure on LGBT+ students to find information by
themselves and sets them apart from their peers. For instance, my personal experience growing up
in France was

The second beekeeper, however, had very different results. Because each bee in his hive was
focused on the hive s goal of producing more honey. This Bess had concentrated their efforts on
gathering more nectar in order to produce more honey than ever before. The bees worked
together to determine the highest nectar yielding flowers and to create quicker processes for
depositing the nectar they had gathered. They also worked together to help increase the amount
of nectar gathered by the poorer performers. Tile Queen Bee of this hive reported that the poor
performers either improved their performance or transferred to hive No.1, because the hive had
reached its goal. The beekeeper rewarded each bee his portion of the hive incentive. The keeper

Airplane Invention
Evolve
What is the definition of the word invent? Dictionary.com states that invent means to originate or
create as a product of one s own ingenuity, experimentation, or contrivance. Inventions have shaped
the world and helped the earth evolve incredibly. Without these developments, the lives of everyone
in the world would not be the same. Computers, phones, televisions, houses, and many other
creations would not exist. However certain inventions prove to stand greater than others, including
phones, airplanes and light bulbs.
Firstly, telephones, invented by Alexander Graham Bell, have proven to benefit people in drastic
situations. They help one interact from lengthy distances. For example, if a family has an
emergency, the fastest method to contact a member is to call them. After the inventionof telephones,
cell phones developed. Cell phones are most likely of the most used inventions ... Show more

They help incredibly with traveling overseas or flying long distances. The successful creators of
the amazing aircraft were the Wright brothers: Wilbur and Orville. Their miraculous invention
placed the world in awe, for no one considered that the idea of flying was possible. The
development, used for war and traveling, exists as one of the safest ways of transportation. Thus,
airplanes remain as one of the best and most useful inventions in the world.
Conclusively, light bulbs, invented by Thomas Alva Edison, prove to be extremely helpful in life.
They illuminate the world and lighten the gloomy night. If light did not exist, everyone would
probably find themselves using fire and lanterns to see, which could result in hazardous outcomes.
For example, if candles were left unattended throughout the night, then they could tip over and
possibly create a massive fire. Lights, found everywhere, including streets, houses, and cars, assist
people at all times. Therefore, light bulbs stand as a safe and valuable

The Physics Of Infrared Radiation
A vibration can result in an absorption peak of infrared radiation, only if there is a change in the
dipole moment of the molecule. The larger this change, the more intense will be the absorption
band. Furthermore, the electron polarity vectors in the covalent bond should not cancel out i.e the
covalent bonds must be asymmetric. Asymmetrical bonds carry a net polarity vector and show
absorption peaks; bonds that are centered along the plane of symmetry cancel out their polarity
vectors upon stretching and there is no net change in dipole moment. Such molecules are known to
be infrared inactive. An infrared spectrum is the plot of absorbance (or % transmission) against the
wavenumber (cm 1) (Rehman et al., 2012). Wavenumber is defined as number of waves in a length
of one centimeter and is a commonly used unit for representing spectral regions. Wavenumber is
linear with energy and is expressed with the following equation.Significant parts of the spectrum are
the regions where the molecule absorbs the infrared energy. These are shown as characteristic
absorption peaks. A molecule can only absorb radiation when the incoming infrared radiation is of
the same frequency as one of the fundamental modes of vibration of the molecule (Stuart and
Barbara, 2004). The modes of vibration usually encountered include bending, stretching, wagging
and out of plane vibrations. These molecular vibrations result in changes in dipole moments of the
molecular groups and the resulting vibrating

Long Day s Journey Into Night Character Analysis
In the play Long Day s Journey into Night , each character is faced with many drastic challenges.
These challenges aren t only with themselves, but with other members of their family. They share
blame and judgement to themselves and others, dwell on their pasts, struggle to handle their
addictions, and also their own personal sufferings. The oddities such as these makes one wonder
how hard it must be to struggle without even the helpof your own family.
No one seems to be able to accept their own faults and in turn blame everything on someone else
whenever they find the chance to. Mary, the boy s mother, is a morphine addict and blames her
loneliness on her husband, Tyrone, who she claims refuses to buy her nice things and creates a
terrible living arrangement for her and her family. For example in the play, she says, In a real
home one is never lonely. You forget I know from experience what a home is like. I gave up one
to marry you my father s home. She insists how unhappy she is and how he constantly chooses
working on new properties instead of using the money to actually make her happy for once. Mary
is forever lonely and blames Tyrone for it since he s constantly leaving her to go to barrooms.
Jamie even blames Tyrone for being cheap when it comes to Edmund needing help from a doctor.
He claims how he uses a doctor who he gives a talk about getting the cheapest option, never the
most effective option. Jamie says, Well, for God s sake, pick out a good place and

Comparing Puck And Bottom In A Midsummer Night s Dream
There are many comedic characters in Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream. A
Midsummer Night s Dream is about love and how confusing it can be. There is a fairy world,
and then the real worlds, and the various love triangles in each. Despite there being multiple
comedic characters, the two who stand out the most are Puck and Bottom. Both characters are in
the play for comedic effects, but both could not be more different. This paper will go through
how they are different and similar, and how they are like the groups they represent. Although Puck
and Bottom are different characters, they have a lot of similarities. One similarity they have is
that they are both in the play as comedic characters. You can tell Bottom is a comedic character
because most of his lines are comedic, such as Some man or other must present wall. And let him

Personal Reflection On My Experience In My Life
Entry 1. I didn t have a goal coming into class at first, but after hurting my toe over the weekend I
decided that I would focus on doing my best at physical activities in spite of it. While I had some
trouble with the walking and running portions of the exercises, I was mostly successful at
completing them all. Also, during the warm up exercises I ve started to be able to relax my
body more, I can now feel my upper arms start to touch the floor when I m laying down instead
of just my hands, shoulders and elbows. This class involved doing some word association games
in addition to more work on our open scenes. I didn t perform any open scenes in front of the
class but I did do a few recitals of it with a partner, including with some circumstances given to us
by the professor. While previously I found that I was very good at imagining my own
circumstances for the scene and acting on those, I feel that I don t do quite as well when being
directed. I think that in the futureit will be important for me to learn to naturally use the
circumstances I am given in my acting.
Entry 2. Today my main goal was to remain motivated. For whatever reason I started to lose
interest in the class around the time we started our Hey everybody exercise, got better afterwards
and then gradually lost interest when the other students began work on their scenes and
monologues until the end of class; so I suppose that I failed. Today s class included hot clapping,

Louis Zamperinishowed that life could not beat him down, and never gave up, not even in the light
of the impossible. Louie s strong minded determination continues to be a factor in his survival until
the very end.
Before he was introduced to running, Louie was somewhat of a heathen. He was a thief and
refused to be controlled: If it was edible, Louie stole it (6). Knowing that food was so easy to
take, Louie indeed took it. When he heard that some keys fit more than one lock, he tried over and

Louie bore it with clenched fists and eyes blazing (258). He was knocked down repeatedly;
however, Louie could not be broken. Louie s resilience as a POW was his key to entering the
house of survival: He felt his consciousness slipping, his mind losing adhesion, until all he knew
was a single thought: He cannot break me (302). All of the mind strengthening conversations and on
the raft proved useful throughout his experience as a POW, and Louie s hopeful attitude lived on.
Although his body was shattered, his will remained strong and the ultimate survival cake was made

Gram Staining Procedure
Bacterial identification procedures are extremely important in the clinical laboratory.
Microorganisms need to be classified, and identified in order to distinguish one species from
another. Identification can isolate organisms that are disease agents, and enable physicians to make
diagnosis s. It also enables physicians to choose the best treatment/antibiotics to address that
specific organism. For example, some gram negative bacteriacan produce endotoxins when they
die, which would be of concern to a doctor prescribing antibiotics. Identifying a specific bacteria
as a source of a disease is the first step in moving towards discovering how it can be transmitted
and preventing reoccurrence. Species can be distinguished by morphology and... Show more content

This staining procedure was developed in the 1882, by a Danish bacteriologist, Hans Christian
Gram. This technique identifies differences in a bacteria s cell wall. It utilizes crystal violet
(primary stain), Gram s iodine (mordant), and safranin (counterstain). Most bacteria fall into two
categories, Gram positive or gram negative. Gram positive bacteria have a thick layer of
peptidoglycan, and techoic acids in their cell walls. This thick peptidoglycan layer retains the
crystal violet stain, and displays the cells as a purple color under the microscope. Gram negative
bacteria cell walls have significant differences from gram positive bacteria. Gram negative cells
have a thin peptidoglycan layer, and do not have techie acids. They also have an outer membrane
that is similar to the phospholipid bilayer of a cell membrance. These differences allow the crystal
violet stain to rinse away from them, then they retain the safranin stain and appear reddish/pink
under the microscope. Although it is very useful, it is not the only tooled needed to identify a
bacteria. Some bacteria, are gram variable, displaying both positive and negative reactions. Other
bacteria, such as Mycoplasmas, do not have a cell wall, rendering this test ineffective. Finally, it
does not provide enough information alone to identify a

The Role Of Parents Are Becoming A Common Picture
When a child is born into this world, the traditional thing to have straight out the womb, is a
mom. This mom would then have a spouse which would help parent that child through
adolescence and beyond. Parents are given the job of raising their son or daughter so that they
can live on their own and make choices by themselves. Parents in today s society aren t the
typical household piece you tend to see in movies and read in books. Before, it was always a
mom and dad who were female and male. Today, a child doesn t always have that, they can have

In today s world the typical human parenting is by heterosexual, homosexual, or single parenting
with science fiction differing by using exogenesis or androgyny as a possible way of parenting.
However, many science fiction sources use single moms as a lead role in child raising, by
influencing her with traits that equal both man and woman. I will then explore relationship
statuses, ranging from a sudden death in the family due to a rising dystopia or possibly a mother
who is single because of the extinction of male bodies on Earth. Furthermore, I will next give
details on the viewpoints given by parents, whether it be from a female, male, or artificial
intelligence, and how important this part is in child development. Then this paper will continue by
explaining how important human intervention is in childhood development from the foundation of
man and woman, and through this interaction, a child is given the best possibility at life in today s
growing world. Finally, children begin sharing viewpoints of their own that have been influenced
by their parents. The parent s viewpoint being at times influenced by society, tending to go on the
side of majority and overall affecting a child s development.

Societal Impact of Salmonella Essay
Societal Impact of Salmonella
Abstract: Salmonella is a bacterium that causes one of the most common intestinal infections in the
United States Salmonellosis. The chance of contracting this disease is significantly high, and more
and more people are suffering from the symptoms and complications of Salmonella. This paper will
discuss about the disease itself, the current outbreaks that are related to this disease, preventions and
the treatments.
Many say that history repeats itself, and throughout history, the spread of food borne diseases has
been constantly threatening humans. Salmonella, a disease which attacks numerous people a year,
has returned, infected, and put people under panic of what they are eating. According to Foodborne

They grow readily in many foods as well as in water contaminated with feed or feces (56). Their
ability to multiply regardless of the different environmental conditions allows the bacteria to spread
out quickly, which leads into major infection among people.
One of the recent outbreaks that startled people across America was the finding of Salmonella in
tomatoes in restaurants. It is said that:
The tomato linked salmonella outbreak announced by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
on June 3 has claimed 228 victims in 23 states over 58 days (and counting). It has put 25 people
in the hospital and may have had a role in hastening the death of a cancer patient. And then there s
the flurry of panic as many of the tomatoes that American consumers take for granted every day
suddenly disappear from McDonald s hamburgers; from the salsa at Chipotle Mexican Grill; from
Burger King, Taco Bell and Sonic; and from the grocery shelves at Kroger, Wal Mart and Target
(Suddath 1).
This outbreak caused many American citizens to panic about their daily meals; the fact that one of
the most common ingredients, tomato, can actually become detrimental to humans caused people
in America to be more aware of what they are consuming. They were also concerned about how to
treat the disease had they already been infected by it.
Another recent outbreak which aroused

Is Golf A Sport Essay
People keep wondering if golf is a sport, and the answer is yes. This is true for three reasons.Pro
golfers are considered athletes by many people, physical training helps with a golfers
performance, and golf requires coordinated muscle use.All these things make a golfer an athlete, and
an athlete is someone who plays some sort of sportso that technically makes golfa sport. Now lets
get into some detail to why golf should be considered a real sport.
The first reason why golf should be considered a sport is because many people call pro golfers
athletes. An example of this would be, The associated press has named a golfer as its female
athlete of the year 24 times ( https://golf.procon.org/ ).If she plays golf and has been named
female athlete of the year, then that makes her an athlete which makes golf a real sport.Another
example from them is, Golfer Tiger Woods is the richest athlete in history and was the first
athlete to surpass 1 billion dollars in career earnings ( https://golf.procon.org/ ).See that s a lot of
money which is being earned by an athlete who is playing a sport. That s only one reason why Golf

It s good to pick a topic that you can actually find information on. If the topic you pick doesn t
have any information on it, it ll be hard to write a ten page paper on it. This brings you to the next
step, which would be finding information or sources on the topic that you choose. I have
learned there are five main types of sources: primary sources which presents original words of a
writer, secondary sources which analyzes somebody else s work, objective sources which uses
experiments/survey results, subjective sources which uses blogs and essays, and living sources
from in person interviews or phone calls. When you are finding sources I have learned that there
are unstable sources out there. I figured taking information from a website that wasn t reliable
wasn t really the best thing to do but I never knew it as an unstable source. I now know to use
sources from websites like end with .org, .edu, or .gov. The internet has so many endless and
pointless information that it can be really easy to get off task. It s easier to stay on task if you go
straight to websites that have reliable information. When finding sources it is equally important to

Greek Influence On Modern Day Heroes
Ancient heroes are important to our understanding of modern heroes because they helped shape
our heroes today. This can be seen because Cesar Chavez also completed hero tasks that were
done in ancient times. This can also be seen because our modern day heroes reflect back to the
ancient ones for a example. The ancient heroes help show what modern days herowould be like. If
our ancient heroes helped shape our modern day heroes than it is possible that our modern day
heroes will affect the heroes that have yet to come. Heroes stand up for what they believe in.

The Exchange Rate And Auto Parts Manufactures
The case study The Exchange Rate and Auto Parts Manufactures shows two companies which are
suppliers to the US automobile company DaimerCrhrysler, and that companies based outside of the
US. As the consequence of the importing machines from the United States, companies faced
difficulties based on the exchange rate fluctuations.
First company SMS were faced difficulties with the exchange rate of USD and euro. The CEO of
the SMS Elotherm company, Udo Pfeiffer, took measures to avoid the loss. He raise price in
dollars to compensate the fall in the value of dollar, but finally manufacturers were constantly
pressuring machine tool companies to lower prices, not to raise them .
Another example of company shows us a company that was much more successful than SMS,
Keiper, which based in Germany and exporting metal frames for cars to the US. Company invest
money in the manufacture in Canada, when the exchange rate of euro were equal to the US
dollar. But there were some disadvantages of being based in Canada and it raised a costs of the
Keipers work. In addition, company faced problems with exchange rate because the company still
produces some parts in Germany and sent to US.

financial transactions within the country. However, between different countries is also necessary to

Using these concepts to better understand the complex reality of race relations in the United States,
a clearer picture can be painted of why white racial supremacy has been so powerful in all aspects
of U.S. American society.
The institution of slavery in the United States of America was a process that evolved over
generations; an institution which developed in the northern colonies of New England area very
differently than the Southern colonies. In the South, slavery as an institution started to enhance
the productivity of agriculture. It may not have been the most humane way to grow cotton or
sugar cane, but slavery provided essentially free labor to white farmers: The settlers in the
Southern States were naturally tempted by the example of the West Indian planters, to make use
of these imported black[s] in the service of field labor ( Slaves and Slavery ). African people were
kidnapped from their home, shipped across the Atlantic Ocean, and sold as property in order to do
manual labor for white people. Many today are ashamed that the U.S. went through such a cruel
period of history when we subjected millions to the atrocities of the slave trade. The result of the

Carl Sandburg, A Zealot for Chicago
Carl Sandburg was a three time Pulitzer prize winning poet, writer, and editor. As he was growing
up, Sandburg s family struggled with poverty, which engendered him to drop out of school early
in his teens to help contribute to his financially strained family. Sandburg was convinced by a man
that served with him during the Spanish American war, that he should attend Lombard College;
Sandburg took his advice and completed four years at Lombard. After getting his education he
moved to Chicago and obtained a job from Chicago Daily News, as an editorial writer. Sandburg s
works emulated his literary influence, Walt Whitman; both poets wrote in free verse. In 1914,
Sandburg published his poem Chicago then two years later, integrated the poem along with various

In the poem Chicago, Sandburg commences his poem by naming various titles such as Hog

  • 2. Literary Devices In Beowulf Beowulf through the eyes of Tolkien Trilogies like the Lord of The Rings and the Hobbit have had great historical and linguistic significance in the literary world, capturing the attention of many. However, the aesthetic and craft like qualities of these works are at times ignored and not appreciated enough to create more interest. For a literary giant like J.R.R. Tolkien, his speech of Beowulfbeing noteworthy the way it is because of its artistic characteristics are only accomplished by the use of specific rhetorical devices to achieve his point. Taken from his essay Beowulf:The Monsters and the Critics. presented at the 1936 British Academy Lecture, he first starts off by presenting the arguments that have been formed about Beowulf and continues to counter argue them in order to make a stronger and more elaborate point, which is enhanced with his use of authoritative language. Tolkien also dives deep into written technique that is embedded into Beowulf, which is accompanied with a artistic like analysis. In the end, Tolkien is successful in painting a picture to the audience his opinion about Beowulf s artful qualities, because his effective use of rhetorical strategies throughout creates the poem to be more than a historical epic and piece of fiction. In starting his lecture, Tolkien lays out criticism that poem has received about placing more importance to non literary aspects, and counter argues his own opinion to establish that the artful qualities it possesses ... • 3. Video Gaming Technology Can Be Beneficial Essay Video Gaming Technology can be Beneficial Student s Name Institutional affiliation Video Gaming As a concerned parent, one would easily feel coaxed to venture into analyzing every aspect of the child s welfare from a day to day perspective. There is a common concern over what the kids play around with as well as the impacts created upon the receiver. Similarly, the use of video gaming presents a common challenge as to whether the games are of benefit or not in the educational system. Video gaming involves the use of computers and other technology devices to access a variety of games in the format of videos. The gaming hypothesizes to offer entertainment and educational information, especially, in cases where the game covers a specific topic in the contemporary society (Squire, K. 2013). However, the current situation in the industry presents a prospective possibility of the video gaming posing a threat to the educational development. Video gaming may support the cognitive development of children and nurture the social and interpersonal traits. Video sports date back to the early stages of the 1970s. The first video game finds its place in the year 1940 during the World s Fair exhibition by the Westinghouse. The video gaming used to be a form of a computer system that portrayed a simple machine with a game plan. In the match, the players competed on avoiding the process of picking the last matchstick within the game period. However, after the first program, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Problem Of The Classroom Authority Attention colleague: I have surveyed some of my students about the quality of your class, per your request. The overwhelming response I received related specifically to how you deliver instructions in the class. Many students reflected that when ask questions such as Is that where that book goes? , What did you forget to put on your paper? , and Would you like to sit down? you lose your credibility as the classroom authority. I am writing concerning this issue because of my desire to share with you information I have recently learned in relation to the differences in characteristics of authority between white, working class communities and black, poverty stricken communities. I will also explain the linguistic concept code switching, which is the ability to read the context of an environment and actively choose the language style that fits the environment, as mentioned in Wheeler (2008), and how this will lend a hand to you having more of an authoritative presence in the classroom. In the classroom, educators are the ones wielding the power and I believe you already understand this, which plays out in how educators speak to their students. From all the information my students have given me, I believe you are talking to them the same way your middle working class parents spoke to you and I believe that you understand that when you ask students to perform a task, you are implicitly telling them to complete the task. Delpit (1998) says that working class white parents ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Marriage Is A Problem Based On Stereotypes And Unrealistic... Marriages and Scripts Marriage is a concept that few people really understand and most underestimate. With the last four scripts it is clear that, marriage is a problem based on stereotypes and unrealistic expectations. While reading the last plays, Dolls House,Who s Afraid of Virgina Woolf, Fences, and Disgraced there is one clear correlation between them all, crumbling marriages. There is this foreign concept that people may not even have to like their partner in the beginning, but later on in marriage they will soon love them. This idea is false, however, as it is clear that during life two partners become dependent on each other, and this coziness is conceived as love. Furthermore, they then get so used to marriage and each other that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What I did find remarkable was Nora and her strength to leave her husband and children. Unlike the other pieces Dolls House focuses more on children and the effect they have on a married couple. Children are generally thought of as making marriage more valuable to the spouses, as they represent a long term commitment (that can be seen also as a form of long term investment in the marriage relationship) which may reinforce marriage stability. On the other hand, children may bring about marital conflict by affecting dramatically the household allocation of time and money and contributing a degree of uncertainty, as children s preferences and behavior are not known to parents ex ante. (Bellido). In this marriage, much like Troy and Rose in Fences, having children broke this marriage. It would have been easier to stay for Nora if it was not a constant reminder that she would be the corruption in her children, and the overwhelming fear that she would be the cause of their downfall. It is brought up several times the conflict of leaving her children or staying and being a mother they do not deserve. She is constantly thinking about this through the second half, but she does not worry about Torvald. She even states that she does not love him and was only there because it was her duty as a woman to marry a rich man, and have his children. That was the problem that the pieces face, no matter what time period, forcing love only seems to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Utilization Of Prescription Drug The utilization of prescription drug has increased in recent times. The availability of these medications has resulted in the treatment of numerous infections and ailments. These drugs alleviate chronic pain, depression and anxiety, sleep apnea, and much more. For an efficient health system, the main goal is to provide quality health care to all patients. However, over the years, there have been many legal and health controversies over drugs and the effects that they have on the body. The process of prescription drugstarts from a lab and ultimately sojourns with the end user. The drugs undergo testing and are often developed to treat a specific disease before being reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration(FDA). Healthcare organizations use formulary systems in order to efficiently dispense prescription drugs. According to Steiner (2014), a formulary system is an ongoing process whereby healthcare organization establishes policies regarding the use of drugs. This system also identifies the best medically appropriate and cost effective drugs to best serve patients. The process of this method includes a list of drugs approved by healthcare professionals. Some of the issues involved in implementing formulary systems stem from legal challenges such as anti substituting or generic substituting laws, federal and state drug laws, and trademark laws (Steiner, 2014). In the case of anti substituting or generic substituting, it is imperative that pharmacists are quite ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Video Games The current world and generation is almost dependent on technology, especially the younger generation. With new technology brings new forms of entertainment, particularly video games and movies. Even though we don t think about it, video games and movies are relatively new inventions. They have changed society and will likely keep changing it for a long time. Though they are usually associated with a positive connotation, there are people who think differently. Since it s inception, media has also been associated with manipulating the impressionable minds of children, particularly violent media. In the past, it s been violent literature. Nowadays, it s been violent video games and movies. The criticisms of these particular forms of media... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Movies are also among the most pirated forms of media which makes it even easier for minors to view such material. A notable instance of violent media being scapegoated as a reason of violent behavior is the Columbine High School Massacre of 1999 in which Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, students at Columbine, gunned down 12 students and a teacher, while also injuring a teacher. The pair were eventually found to be avid players of Wolfenstein 3D, Doom, and Duke Nukem, violent video games. They were also fans of the 1994 movie Natural Born Killers, which is about two mass murders. The parents of the Columbine victims also sued the publishers of the video games that Klebold and Harris played, blaming the video games for the shooting. But what the parents and many other people overlooked is that the two boys were victims of bullying and depression. So it s unfair and unwise to put the blame solely on video games and movies are reasoning behind the shooting. Violent media such as movies and video games have a mental effect on young children and minors, but their daily lives dictate whether or not they make them violent in nature. The reason video games and movies on their own don t dictate whether or not they make children violent could be found in Albert Bandura s Social Learning Theory which basically says that people, not just children, learn from the action of others such as friends, family, and peers. • 11. The Role Of Art In The Aztec Art Art was used by the Aztecs upper class to set them apart from the lower class. They adorned themselves with feathers, jewelry and fancy clothes. The rich also owned paintings, statues and music to honor and praise their gods. Most of the lower class, however, could make art but only to sell to the rich. The Aztecempire had an appreciation and fascination with birds, bugs and animals. These animals were praised and admired and as a result, they were popular subjects in the Aztec art. Aztecs believed that their gods took the forms of animals. Paintings of them were always brightly colored. The Emperor received art as tribute. The Aztecs considered art as a tool to reinforce their dominance. Jewelry made from copper, jade, obsidian and gold was also reserved for the Emperor. He had such a variety of clothing and jewelry, it is said that he never wore the same thing twice. There were rules in the Aztec society that told which rank of people could wear which type of clothing. For example, only nobles and the Emperor could wear clothing decorated with feathers, beads and other pretty things. Farmers and other lower class people could not. If this law was broken, the consequence was death. The Emperor and noble families also had their bodies pierced so they could wear more jewelry. Statues and brightly colored paintings would adorn their walls and set them apart from the lower class and maintain their high class status. • 12. The Most Formative Experience Of My Christian Life Carmanie Bhatti s Written Response to 310.2 a d For The Board of Ordained Ministry, Northern Illinois Conference of the UMC i. The Most Formative Experience of My Christian Life: I grew up in Pakistan with a diverse culture around me. Before moving to the U.S., the city I grew up in was a blend of people who lived there because of their jobs, education and business purposes. I learned that poverty, marginalization and violence, neither had a religion nor selects people of a specific faith to attack them. This made me devote myself to the church and its programs to serve all children of God spreading the good news of Jesus Christ and fighting for social justice against the systemic evil in the world. At church, in addition to my participation in the worship services, I volunteered at our church s soup kitchen, medical camps and elementary school for underprivileged children. These experiences opened my eyes to the deprivation of love and care in the world and a dire need of God s grace for people at large so they could receive forgiveness, healing and restoration in their lives. My spiritual formation took a new turn when in 2013 my parents house was burned down in an arson. At that time, I was living with my parents. Since, the house was not insured, our local church and our acquaintances in the neighborhood helped us financially so we could rebuild our house, while a family in the neighborhood gave us shelter at their house. I am going to start off by giving some general information about the laws passed and other events that have led the abortion laws to where they are now. In 1821, Connecticut passed the first law that restricted abortion in the United States. It prohibited the use of toxins to cause a miscarriage. In 1962, she was denied a request by the hospital for a legal abortion so she traveled to Sweden to get one. She had taken the drug thalidomide, which researchers linked to various birth defects. The hospital withdrew its offer to Finkbine after she told her story to the local newspaper for the purpose of alerting women and soon to be mothers of the dangers of he drug. The publicity she got from the newspaper article threw her into the middle of the world wide debate. In 1969, a few young women in Chicago started an underground system nicknamed Jane. This system helped women find safe and affordable but still illegal abortions. These ladies learned to perform them by themselves. It has been well accepted that the integrity of human genome is maintained by mechanisms to protect DNAfrom damage either generated spontaneously during endogenous DNA biogenesis including replication or transcription or induced by exogenous environmental factors (Ciccia and Elledge, 2010; Jackson and Bartek, 2009; Lord and Ashworth, 2012). Failure of overcoming such lesions will cause chromosome duplication failure and may lead to mitotic catastrophe, complex chromosomal rearrangements, and tumorigenesis. Multiple mechanisms are developed by the cells to sense and respond to such type of lesions. In replication fork stalling, the cell senses the lesion with replication protein A as well as its downstream factors. At the same time, the Fanconi Anemia proteins facilitates the interstrand crosslinking lesions (see next section, 1.3.2). Particularly, FANCM, together with its binding partners MHFs and FAAP24, will facilitate the activation of ATR/CHK1 signaling pathway for further repair. After proper responses to the replication stresses, the stalled or collapsed replication forks will be restarted (Collis et al., 2008; Wang et al., 2013). There, vibrations are translated into signals, which are interpreted by your brain. In the 1930s, two scientists at Bell Labs, Harvey Fletcher and Wilden A. The Loudness button on consumer stereo receivers is an equalization circuit that boosts the highs and lows as the volume is lowered so the music will sound the same whether soft or loud. Noise shaping circuits filter dither and quantization noise into the extreme upper range, where we will simply notice it less. To describe the concept of equal loudness regardless of frequency, the unit phon was developed. Each curve of the equal loudness contours defines a single phon level. For example, the curve that is 40 dB SPL at 1 kHz is defined as 40 phons; 40 phons at 10 kHz is therefore approximately 50 dB SPL and at 100 Hz slightly more than 60 dB SPL. Phons and decibels SPL are the same for a 1 kHz tone an increase of 10 phons is equal to an increase of 10 dB at 1 kHz, but it may be more or less at other frequencies. Many audio measurements are made using weighting curves that attempt to skew the results in favor of the way we actually hear. For example, the signal to noise ratio of a microphone preamp might be listed as 108 dB A weighted, or sometimes just 108 dB(A). This means that the noise was filtered before measurement to exclude the extreme lows and highs to approximately the same degree our ears do at 40 phons. Critical Theories Of Criminology Introduction In this paper, I will discuss conflict criminology, radical criminology, peacemaking criminology, and postmodern criminology providing a comparison as well as a contrast to each. Discussion There are several theories developing critical theories of criminology, the first discussed in this paper will be conflict theory (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The conflict theory is the inequality of competing groups, moreover, the different social statuses of individuals. This theory compares the differences in white collar crime to the crime of the blue collar class. The structure of this societal hierarchy places a few individuals in the higher ranks of society with the majority within the lower ranks, the proverbial winners as compared to the losers. This theory bases crime upon the various class struggles to obtain wealth within an unequal economic environment. The lower class struggles to obtain the same level of material wealth held by those of the higher classes creating an extremely competitive environment leading to individuals taking advantage of the weaker members of society to further their own level of wealth. The radical theory defines crime as the deprivation of basic human rights, as individuals compete for a portion of societal wealth in an unequally distributed market they become overly competitive with one another leading to what is described as senseless violence. The third theory discussed in this paper is the peacemaking criminology, this theory is a non violent approach to change society through the transformations beginning at the individual level (Bohm Vogel, 2011). The theorist of peacemaking view suffering as the cause of crime, expressing the need for a change within society to become for aware of the needs of those less fortunate, moreover, working together to resolve those issues. This theory views the acts of punishing individuals for crimes committed as the source for continued criminal acts. A shift from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Being that she is a Puritan she has a lot of biblical references in her poems. In The Flesh and the Spirit Anne takes these two objects and personifies them. She created an environment Where the Flesh and the Spirit where two sisters arguing, Spirit says, Sisters are we, yea, twins we be, yet deadly feud twixt thee and me; for one father are we not, thou by old Adam wast begot, (223) she tells the sister that their feud has not been resolved. Some of these include Michelangelo, Andy Goldsworthy and Jason Decaires Taylor; however, Auguste Rodinand Janet Laurence are two of the most interesting artists to explore in the way that they created life through sculpture. Sculpture is... the most diverse and evolving artistic medium. (Leaper, C. (2003)) Although both artists use sculptural methods, they interpret life very differently. • 30. The Importance Of Heteronormativity In School Education Introduction Despite improvement in recent years, LGBT+ people still face systematic inequality in western society. This results in discrimination and prejudice towards them, or a reluctance to talk about LGBT+ issues. When it comes to education, the current situation in many western countries is that there is little or no information available about LGBT+ topics for students, in part because of the stigma that still surrounds LGBT+ identities. Indeed, up until 2003, it was illegal in the UK for schools to promote the teaching [and the] acceptability of homosexuality (Legislation.gov.uk, 2017), and LGBT+ education is still a controversial topic in many places today. For example, in New York, a teacher was recently fired for teaching 11 to 16 year olds about LGBT+ terms, because parents complained it was inappropriate for the children to learn about them (Toscano, 2017). Thus, there is still a view that LGBT+ identities are inappropriate or even unsafe for children, which partially explains this lack of information given to students at school. In the UK, a survey published this year found that 40 per cent of LGBT pupils are never taught anything about LGBT issues (Bradlow et al, 2017). The prevalence of heteronormativity in school education paired with the lack of LGBT+ information is a serious problem, as it puts pressure on LGBT+ students to find information by themselves and sets them apart from their peers. Dictionary.com states that invent means to originate or create as a product of one s own ingenuity, experimentation, or contrivance. Inventions have shaped the world and helped the earth evolve incredibly. Without these developments, the lives of everyone in the world would not be the same. Computers, phones, televisions, houses, and many other creations would not exist. However certain inventions prove to stand greater than others, including phones, airplanes and light bulbs. Firstly, telephones, invented by Alexander Graham Bell, have proven to benefit people in drastic situations. They help one interact from lengthy distances. For example, if a family has an emergency, the fastest method to contact a member is to call them. After the inventionof telephones, cell phones developed. Conclusively, light bulbs, invented by Thomas Alva Edison, prove to be extremely helpful in life. They illuminate the world and lighten the gloomy night. If light did not exist, everyone would probably find themselves using fire and lanterns to see, which could result in hazardous outcomes. • 33. The Physics Of Infrared Radiation A vibration can result in an absorption peak of infrared radiation, only if there is a change in the dipole moment of the molecule. The larger this change, the more intense will be the absorption band. Furthermore, the electron polarity vectors in the covalent bond should not cancel out i.e the covalent bonds must be asymmetric. Asymmetrical bonds carry a net polarity vector and show absorption peaks; bonds that are centered along the plane of symmetry cancel out their polarity vectors upon stretching and there is no net change in dipole moment. Such molecules are known to be infrared inactive. An infrared spectrum is the plot of absorbance (or % transmission) against the wavenumber (cm 1) (Rehman et al., 2012). Wavenumber is defined as number of waves in a length of one centimeter and is a commonly used unit for representing spectral regions. Wavenumber is linear with energy and is expressed with the following equation.Significant parts of the spectrum are the regions where the molecule absorbs the infrared energy. These are shown as characteristic absorption peaks. A molecule can only absorb radiation when the incoming infrared radiation is of the same frequency as one of the fundamental modes of vibration of the molecule (Stuart and Barbara, 2004). The modes of vibration usually encountered include bending, stretching, wagging and out of plane vibrations. These molecular vibrations result in changes in dipole moments of the molecular groups and the resulting vibrating ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Long Day s Journey Into Night Character Analysis In the play Long Day s Journey into Night , each character is faced with many drastic challenges. These challenges aren t only with themselves, but with other members of their family. They share blame and judgement to themselves and others, dwell on their pasts, struggle to handle their addictions, and also their own personal sufferings. The oddities such as these makes one wonder how hard it must be to struggle without even the helpof your own family. No one seems to be able to accept their own faults and in turn blame everything on someone else whenever they find the chance to. Mary, the boy s mother, is a morphine addict and blames her loneliness on her husband, Tyrone, who she claims refuses to buy her nice things and creates a terrible living arrangement for her and her family. For example in the play, she says, In a real home one is never lonely. You forget I know from experience what a home is like. I gave up one to marry you my father s home. She insists how unhappy she is and how he constantly chooses working on new properties instead of using the money to actually make her happy for once. Mary is forever lonely and blames Tyrone for it since he s constantly leaving her to go to barrooms. Jamie even blames Tyrone for being cheap when it comes to Edmund needing help from a doctor. Despite there being multiple comedic characters, the two who stand out the most are Puck and Bottom. Both characters are in the play for comedic effects, but both could not be more different. This paper will go through how they are different and similar, and how they are like the groups they represent. Although Puck and Bottom are different characters, they have a lot of similarities. This technique identifies differences in a bacteria s cell wall. It utilizes crystal violet (primary stain), Gram s iodine (mordant), and safranin (counterstain). Most bacteria fall into two categories, Gram positive or gram negative. Gram positive bacteria have a thick layer of peptidoglycan, and techoic acids in their cell walls. This thick peptidoglycan layer retains the crystal violet stain, and displays the cells as a purple color under the microscope. Gram negative bacteria cell walls have significant differences from gram positive bacteria. Gram negative cells have a thin peptidoglycan layer, and do not have techie acids. They also have an outer membrane that is similar to the phospholipid bilayer of a cell membrance. These differences allow the crystal violet stain to rinse away from them, then they retain the safranin stain and appear reddish/pink under the microscope. Although it is very useful, it is not the only tooled needed to identify a bacteria. Some bacteria, are gram variable, displaying both positive and negative reactions.
