1. Carlson classifies modern insecticides into two groups of chemicals. The first
group, represented by DDT, is known as the chlorinated hydrocarbons and the other
group, represented by Malathion and parathion, consists of the organic phosphorus
insecticides. Although both are organic, the organic phosphorous insecticides are
more poisonous than the chlorinated hydrocarbons and have the ability to destroy
enzymes.

birds were the cause of the decrease in their populations. When the predatory birds

DDT s presence in the predatory bird s body, the eggshells of these birds started to
become slender. These eggshells become so thin that whenever the mother bird
would lie on the egg waiting for it to hatch, the eggs would break. Thus, the
predatory bird population had no means of increasing, since their reproduction was
not successful. Biological magnification had a large role to play in the decrease of
the predatory bird population. Spraying of DDT on vegetation led to contamination
of the prey populations such as fish. These prey started building large concentrations
of DDT within their bodies. As a result, the predatory birds also got contaminated,
since they preyed upon contaminated animals.

slaves, Poe attempted to counter abolitionist claims in this particular piece by
reinforcing the Sambo trope. Pompey was described in dehumanized and grotesque

Oedipus Rex by Sophocles and Hamlet by Shakespeare contain the elements of a
tragedy. Both of the tragedies have strikingly different plots and characters. In
literature, tragedy is most likely about a person and the horrible things that happen
to them during their life in a play or story. There are many reasons why both of
these characters are classified as tragic figures. First, Oedipus fate was determined
from birth, and nobody knew Hamlets fate. Second, Oedipus s parents sent him off
to be killed, and Hamlet s father was killed by his brother, Claudius. The events in
the end are done by the protagonist in both plays. The downfall of this is caused by
Oedipus and Hamlet s inability to effectively cope with his own tragic flaw. These
plays have a major difference that Hamlet is a tragedyof inaction and Oedipus is a
tragedy of action. There are many other examples like, they had different traits and
motivation. Oedipus, achieved to killhis father to get his role as King, while Hamlet
wanted to kill his uncle because of this relationship he has with his mother, making

searched for who his real parents actually were, just to find out he married his
mother. In Hamlet, he always wondered why his father died, so he went to go see
his ghost. While there he found out that Claudius killed him. Lastly, they had a
different noble birth. Oedipus was born into a royal family, making him a king.
He is king by saving the city of Thebes. Oedipus earned the trust of his people, who
looked up to him. Hamlet was only the prince of Denmark, almost King. Both of
these plays are morbidly and fatally impulsive. Each of them begin their tragic flaw
with an unpremeditated murder. Hamlet s general impulsiveness plays a larger role
in Hamlet than it does Oedipus . They both quickly reasoned with themselves
without taking time to stop and think, but Hamlet relies on this method for mostly

love sports. Now, imagine, whatever it is you love to do, you are the best at that.
So, if you love sports, you are the greatest athlete of all time. Yet, even though you

as a sports star, and you are the strongest, fastest, quickest athlete in history but no

On November 11, 2017 I went to dance fusion. Dance fusion is a show put on by
college kids from the Collin college Spring Creek Campus. Along with dancers from
the university of Texas at Arlington, University of Central Oklahoma and Texas

the other students also watching the show had brought notebooks to take notes on

the film is the use of seasons. The film goes through Fall, Winter, and ends in

Coming from a large family, I ve been around babies and children since I was a child
myself. this is where my passion for children originated. When I turned 12, I got
my babysitting license from Red Cross as soon as I could sign up for the class. Then,
after six years of various babysitting jobs here and there, I received my first

environment. Without a healthy, respectful, and safe classroom environment,
successful teaching is impossible. Both Dave and Mary Ann offered positive
feedback on this aspect for me. Dave said Ms. Stanislawski has good command of
the classroom. She uses appropriate pacing, knows the content, and engages
students with appropriate questions and responses to student inquiry. And Mary
Ann said Audra has a special way of interacting with students. She seems very
relaxed, is able to quickly think on her feet. She smiles, and is animated when
teaching a lesson varying the tone of her voice, outstretching her arms to illustrate
a point, etc. Receiving both these pieces of feedback encourages me to continue
creating the classroom environment that I do. This is an aspect of my teaching
that, although I did not receive any negative feedback, will continue to work on.
