regulation and practices remain. This paper explores these differences and the

illness. I also don t have a nuclear family; but none of these come close to the issues
suffered by women of color, or women of a different sexual identity.
Intersectionality is important in social work because we have such a diverse
demographic of people (disabled, vulnerable, children, etc.) that it s important to
remember how oppressions work in conjunctions and become individualistic
personalities. It s also important for social work as you should be trying to combat
these oppressions where you can, The colonial devaluing of aboriginal people is
manifested in child welfare practices where aboriginal children are given to
specialist [white] families (Ross, pg. 123) realizing that in social work practice,
some issues might be systemic in nature and you should work to overcome those
bias that people have. The more oppression someone has, the more intersectionality

three categories. Carbohydrates are the body s primary source of energy. Without
adequate carbohydrates, a person may feel fatigued and weak, as the body looks
elsewhere for sources of energy. A severe lack of carbohydrates can deprive critical
bodily organs the necessary energy to properly function. Lipids are naturally
occurring organic compounds that include fats and oils. An excess of some lipids
can increase the chances of certain health problems, lipids are vital nutrients to a
healthy body. Lipids are necessary for the absorption of fat soluble vitamins. A
diet too low on lipids lowers the level of good cholesterol, decreases the body s
energy level and can disturb the body s formation of cells and cell functions.
During the three days of documented intake, my fiber consumption was only 24.3%
of the daily recommendation. Fiber helps promote proper digestive functions,
helps lower cholesterol, and helps in lowering the risk of diabetes and heart
disease. My intake was too low based on the recommended consumption, and

and ethnicities, but from the beginning, the white race has perceived themselves as
a superior race, enforcing their power over other races through slavery and racial

toward total racial equality. We see evidence of this in the workplace, schools, and

the idea that minorities are not fairly represented or retained in Collegiate level head

The NCAA has made noticeable progress toward racial equality in the ratio of
black to white players in Division I football. In 2008, black athletes only made up

Sources of Inequity in Highly Tracked Courses
Many students expressed the desire for study groups and more office hours.
Currently, the teacher is holding office hours whenever possible, and although
that is limited by the teachers availability, the formation of a study group is not. A
school sponsored study group can be extremely beneficial for students who may
otherwise feel awkward asking a classmate they just met if they would like to
study together. One student stated, Most of what BHS would probably try to offer,
most kids seek out on their own. It would be nice to set up a peer study group at a
set location on days when teacher is not available if only for the students who don
t have friends they feel they can rely on. That way no one feels excluded when it
comes to studying, and those who typically cannot rely on teacher or friends have
somewhere to go. From my own experience, all of my advanced courses in high
schoolwere filled with at least a few of my friends (perks of going to a smaller
school), so finding help was not a huge issue. However, in college, study groups
