Example Of A Analytical Essay
1. Example Of A Analytical Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject "Example Of A Analytical Essay" proves to be a challenging
endeavor. The difficulty arises from the intricate balance required between exposition and
analysis. To begin, one must meticulously select a suitable example that encapsulates the essence
of an analytical essay while also being rich in content to dissect. This necessitates thorough
research and critical thinking to identify an exemplary piece worthy of scrutiny.
Once an appropriate example is identified, the real challenge lies in the analytical process itself.
Analyzing an essay involves dissecting its structure, identifying rhetorical devices, evaluating the
effectiveness of arguments, and discerning underlying themes and messages. This demands a
keen eye for detail and a deep understanding of literary and analytical techniques.
Moreover, crafting an analytical essay requires the writer to articulate their insights coherently
and persuasively. This involves organizing thoughts logically, providing evidence to support
claims, and presenting analyses in a clear and compelling manner. Achieving this level of
coherence and persuasiveness necessitates extensive drafting, revising, and refining of the essay.
Furthermore, the task is compounded by the need to strike a balance between objective analysis
and subjective interpretation. While the essay should remain grounded in evidence and logical
reasoning, it should also offer fresh insights and interpretations that showcase the writer's
analytical prowess.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "Example Of A Analytical Essay" is undeniably
challenging due to the intricate balance required between exposition and analysis, the meticulous
selection of a suitable example, the analytical process itself, the articulation of insights
coherently and persuasively, and the need to strike a balance between objectivity and
subjectivity. However, with dedication, critical thinking, and practice, one can navigate these
challenges and craft a compelling analytical essay.

2. United States Civilian Labor Force
In 2015, the United States civilian labor force rose to 157.4 million
(Unemployment rate nears prerecession level by end of 2015: Monthly Labor
Review: U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2016). About half of the workforce were
women and of the 157.4 million, about thirty eight percent were non white workers
including Asian, Black, and Hispanic ethnicities. By 2024, it is projected that women
will make up more than half of the United Stateslaborforce, in which, roughly twenty
three percent of the women will be of non white ethnicities (Women s Bureau (WB)
Latest Annual Data Labor force by sex, race and Hispanic ethnicity, 2015 annual
averages and 2024 projections, n.d.). As women start to dominate the workforce, and
younger workers continue to enter labor force, organizations in the United States are
becoming more and more diverse. What was once dominated by white males,
organizations are now a rich combination of different cultures, backgrounds and
different belief systems. To ensure an ongoing efficient and productive work
environment, a diversity trainingprogram should be put in place to address the
tension and conflicts that arise from diversity in the workplace.
What is Diversity? The Merriam Webster dictionary defines diversity as the
inclusion of different types of people (as people of different race or cultures) in a
group or organization. For a human resource professional, it is the variety of
experiences and perspective which arise from differences in

4. The International Level Through Foreign Language...
In a rapid globalizing world, America is not prepared to continue outshining other
nations. Year after year, countries throughout the globe are better preparing young
individuals in the mathematics, science and engineering fields. Students are better
equipped to collaborate at the international level through foreign language acquisition
and increased global cultural knowledge. New generations bring new ideas, goals and
standards, thus the rational ignorance of American citizens will further prevent the
United Statesfrom developing at its highest level. Keeping up with the global
competition will require a transformation in societal perspectives, with help from the
media, as well as different educational focuses beginning at the elementary level. The
United States is not destined to fail, but worldwide competition is increasing and
adjustments are necessary for the American population and its educational system in
order to maintain competitiveness. According to the Organization for Economic Co
Operation and Development, the Program for International Student Assessment
(PISA) rated the United States 24th out of 34 OECD countries (Programme for
International Student Assessment Results from PISA, 2012). The PISA is designed

obtained in preceding educational years to real world situations; PISA scores

5. Lord Elgin Statues Research Paper
The Elgin Marbles are known to be a collection of stone sculptures that were acquired
by Lord Elgin (British) from the Parthenon in Athens between the years 1801 and
1805. During Greece s Turkish occupation, they believe that these sculptures were
taken illegally, and morally should be returned. The Greeks have demanded that the
sculptures be returned back their homeland. Yet, the British believe that Lord Elgin
purchased the statues legally from the Ottoman Empire before Greece had won its
independence. They anticipated it setting a significant level of importance for major
museums if the statues were ever returned. Unfortunately, proof doesn t exist to show
that Lord Elgin actually had permission to take all of the sculptures. Proof exists
6. Comparing Richard Vs. Francocoise s Relationship
Between...
The relationship between Richard and Francoise is quite different in the movie
when compared to the novel. In the novel, Richard likes and is attracted to
Francoise but does not take it any further. The first time he notices her physically
he says, I noticed Francoise. She was on the beach, walking towards the water in a
one piece white swimsuit...As her arm lifted her swimsuit drew tightly over her
chest and shadows from the one o clock sun defined her breasts, the dip under the
ribcage, a groove of muscle down her stomach (Garland 40). There are many
instances in the novelwhen Richard and Francoise are together but do not engage in
any physical relationship although it is obvious both are attracted to each other. In
the movie however, Richard and Francoise go for a dip in the sea to see the glow in
the night planktons and end up kissing and having sex. In the movie and in the novel,
however, Francoise is still in love with Etienne. Although she is attracted to Richard,
she still loves Etienne and Etienne on his part does not have a problem with the
relationship between Richard and Francoise. He is just happy for her. In the novel
Richard is too stoned most of the time to take his infatuation or attraction to the next
level. The sexual tension between them continues unlike in the movie.
Another difference between the novel and the movie is how the rice run is played
out. Because the character Jed is missing in the movie, it is Sal with whom Richard
gets to go to the
7. Analysis Of Adaptation Of The Military
Adaptation in the military, especially during wartime, is a known need. The adage
no plan survives first contact was not created because it sounds cool. It is an
ominous warning that at some point while executing your plan, you will be faced
with unanticipated and unplanned for situations to which you will have to adapt.
Adaptation is a skill that must be attained, yet is very difficult to learn and even more
difficult to achieve effectively. Every militaryorganization, regardless of nationality,
location, posture, etc., will be required to adapt and their ability to do so effectively
may very well decide their success.
Adaptation, by its very definition, requires something to change, to be altered or
presented in another form. In order to have change, you must have something to
change from , a normalcy, a standard or regular pattern, or as the military calls it, a
Standard Operating Procedure (SOP s). Tactically speaking, the use of SOP s in the
development of military organizations is what permits these organizations to develop
an effective fighting force. The more knowledgeable and proficient an organization is
of executing their SOP s, the more tactically proficient they become. Through
constant and persistent training in a benign environment, each person of the
organization learns and understands their roles and responsibilities within the
organization. Continued training leads to continued improvement and ultimately to
mastery of their
8. Marginalisation In Education
EDN100 Contemporary Issues in Education
Marginalised Youth and Their Education in Society
Marginalisation involves the exclusion and isolation of the young person sector, from
the political, social and economic mainstreams of the world. Particularly the youth
experience much higher rates of unemployment, and very often are deemed
unsuccessful due to certain societal pressures and influences that will be discussed
within this essay. Recently in April 2015 an event was organised, where participants
were only of the youth sector. They discussed the concern and awareness of youth
marginalisation in the Philippians. One hundred and thirty people, had the common
consensus that a person s background, culture, prejudices and one s paradigm all
encourage youth marginalisation in society. An example of this was given where
people may discriminate a juvenile youth because they are not deemed worthy to be
allowed inclusion within the structure of society. 76% of these participants all agreed
that this type of discrimination is usually emitted by those who are between the ages
of 35 70, as they look down on these young people who may have made an accident
in life, but are completely judged upon that one wrong action. Another participant
added, that social class hierarchy is a factor, because those of wealthier backgrounds
have more opportunities to allow their youth to participate in society. The wealthy
families look down on the poorer ones, therefore, for social

It would make sense for The Enquirer to believe that their home state would have
personal jurisdiction of the business. The National Enquirer had no way of knowing
about the long arm statute that could be used to allow the courts in California to
assert jurisdiction over them in Florida. The Enquirers office in Florida argued
against the statute and the arguments were accepted by the lower courts but the
arguments were rejected by the California Supreme Court. The Enquirer argued that
they were not responsible for the spread of the article in California because they had
no stake economically in the sales of the tabloid in California. But a clause in the
Fourteenth Amendment permits personal jurisdiction over a defendant in another

11. Stephen Crane quot;the Open Boat quot; Essay
In Stephen Crane s The Open Boat, the four men underwent an experience in which
they endured the forces of the sea that caused them to change their perception of
nature and ultimately brought them to see the conflict between humanity and the
natural world. In the beginning, faced with the restless sea, the four men felt that
outside help existed somewhere. The cook was the most certain that they would be
rescued. In his argument with the correspondent, the cook told him, There is a house
of refuge...and as soon as they see us they ll come off in their boat and pick us up
(NA, 358). Soon after they saw the lighthouse, the four men were optimistic that their
destiny was not to die, and that somehow another power, in the form of... Show more

With their hope of being rescued gone, their first thought was probably that they
were meant to drown, and that the water was the instrument that would be used by
Fate to bring them to their destiny. Of the four men, the captain was the only
person who could not help row the boat because of his injury. In the beginning, he
was described as being temporarily consumed by profound dejection and
indifference (NA, 357) while directing his shipmates with a voice that was deep
with mourning...of a quality beyond oration or tears (NA, 357). Like a general of
a losing army, the captain felt as if the sea had been something that had defeated
him. As a true leader, he nevertheless continued to encourage and guide his men in
the same steady voice (NA, 367) and maintained a sense of order and peace on the
boat. The captain knew and respected the sea s power, but he also saw the waters as
a mission through which he was responsible for guiding his men, and that he had to
persevere even if others gave up. Their attitude towards the sea again changed when
they became overwhelmed by physical pain and fatigue. When the correspondent saw
a shark during the night, it did not terrify him, but it did send into him a degree of
fear. As they became more exhausted, their fear of death, and therefore the sea,
diminished. As the men were swimming to shore, the correspondent saw that none of
them were afraid, and he understood himself how
12. Rubin Carter Trial Analysis
Justice is all I ask for. Justice
The Justice system did not treat Rubin Carter fairly because he was wrongfully
convicted of murder. Carter was racially profiled because he was a black man and
the evidence of the crime committed was hidden from the justice system. Carter had
gone through three trials in total and out of those three trials two trials were based
off of the given evidence that was tamperd with which made it look like Carter had
done the murder. Those two trials only had white people on jury order and those
people firmly belived that if a murder had occured the murderer would be a
coloured person and in this case it was Carter. This did not give Carter a fair chance
at freedom and to prove to the court that he did not do the murder.
13. The Veld And Lord Of The Flies Comparison Essay
Nora Roberts says Evil cannot and will not be vanquished by evil. Dark will only
swallow dark and deepen. The good and the light are the keenest weapons. In life
people are constantly torn between making the right or wrong choice. Like Nora
state s, defeating darkness can only be accomplished by the force of light, not more
darkness. The fictional novel, Lord of the Flies written by William Golding, is about a
group of British boys who land on an island after a plane crash. The boys are left
without any adults and have to learn to fend for themselves. After spending weeks on
the island, the boys find themselves changing into two different groups, one group
more focused on light and one on darkness. Readers can see the battle that the boys...

In the story a young boy decides to go hunting in the night and goes through a
revelation as he witnesses an everyday act of the battle between light and darkness as
the sun rises. Although set in a different place and time, both authors express a
common universal theme: life is a constant battle between light and darkness in our
everyday lives. This theme can be seen through a compare and contrast of powerful
symbols, transforming settings and misguided characters.
In the novel Lord of the Flies and the short story A sunrise on the Veld the battle of
dark and light in humans is shown in the powerful symbols. In Lord of the Flies,
the boys constantly worry about the beast that is a monster the boys have made up
in the night. One boy says He says the beastie comes in the dark (47 Golding). The
beast represents the evil and fear that lays in the darkness in the night. During the
day the boys decide to look for the beast, but of course once it is light outside the
beast disappears. The beast continues to come back into the boys lives every night, as
it represents the constant battle the boys have with the darkness that lies within
themselves. On the other hand, the boys have the powerful symbol of the fire. In the
beginning, the boys use
14. The Code Of Ethics For Nurses With Interpretive
The process of effectively staffing a nursing unit is one that requires great research.
As a manager you need to be up to date with current trends and current standards so
that you can be assured that your staffing reflects highest quality and safest care
available. Not only is best practice vital, as a manager you must also be thinking of
the most cost effective way to run your unit. Joint Commission standards are a
benchmark that most hospitals use, if your hospitalis not complying with Joint
Commission standards it is likely you will risk non reimbursement for treatment
of care. You also want your unit to be practicing according to The Code of Ethics
for Nurses The code of ethics establishes the ethical standard for the profession and
provides a guide for nurses to use in ethical analysis and decision making (Code of
Ethics for Nurses With Interpretive). Having a base knowledge of the Texas
Department of States Health Services would also be a huge help in keeping your unit
up to current codes and standards.
The staffing plan I am purposing is to open another medical surgical wing that
would consist of 20 beds. This unit would take place in an already developed wing
on 2 central. Currently these 20 beds are reserved for bariatric patients only, and
the unit is closed down other wise when no bariatric surgeries are scheduled.
Currently 2 central is open on average, 2 times a week as the two bariatric surgeons

15. The, The Best Managed Beverage Company Essay
Definition of Project: Edgar Bronfman, Jr., in 1995, had a vision for Seagram to be
the best managed beverage company (Jick Peiperl, 2011). In his vision, he stated
that the company would focus on growth, would be fast and flexible, customer and
consumer oriented. Seagram would reward and honor employees for teamwork.
For any company to succeed, there must be a vision, and the company must have
employees that are well trained, agree with the vision, feel valued and cared for,
and are ready and willing to help the company become successful. According to
Sheehan and Isaac (2014), corporate values are considered feel good statements and
have virtually no effect on a company s operations.
In 1994, Seagram began a major re engineering of the company. This goal of this
effort was to manage effectively business processes and reduce cost. Employees
were placed on teams which were to find out how to please the customers and bring
growth to the company.
Diagnosis of the current situation: The top management of Seagram was so focused
on the Seagram values , growth, having the best management and teamwork. The
company has a good vision, but without the employees to back the vision, the goals
would not be met. Seagram had acquired other businesses, and this was a good
move, but at the same time, the employees were still not having their needs met. An
example is a football team. Coaches get fired if the team does not win enough games.
However, it is the players that

While we often move through different spaces in society continuously, many
individuals do not necessarily regard the importance of these urban spaces within
their daily lives. It is important to consider the definition of public space in order to
further explore certain activities that take place within this sphere. According to
Mehta (2014), a definition of public spacethat focuses on the access and use of
space, defines this space as publicly accessible places where people go for group or
individual activities (p. 54). Thus, these are spaces that contain a variety of different
uses and for the purpose of this paper one particular use that explores public space in

The Nuit Blanche 2017 focuses around the theme Many Possible Futures which
allows for further exploration of the challenges and crisis within Canadas history
and day to day. As a result, this event encourages individuals to explore the
everyday spaces of the city and offers numerous possibilities on how the cities
spaces can be used. This paper wishes to put forth the idea that Nuit Blanche is used
as means of enhancing awareness of social issues into the public sphere through the
use of transforming everyday spaces with art. This begins by recognizing that Nuit
Blanche allows individuals to revisit the ways in which spaces are used in the city. In
addition, the festival helps individuals regain an understanding of public space
through the various messages being communicated. Lastly, it promotes the
development and growth of social life within the public sphere.
In order to achieve a critical investigation of the Nuit Blanche festival one particular
zone of interest is the art exhibits located around Queens Park and University of

Toronto open to residents as well as visitors of the area. The park was created
between 1886 and 1892 as a legislative building for the province of Ontario

What do the oil numbers 10W 30 mean? Your engines rotating parts are protected
from heat and friction by a thin layer of oil. We have seen the numbers on the oil
bottles and read what the manufacturers recommend for the oil but, how were those
numbers derived? The increase in technology has changed the way it was
measured, but the numbers have stayed consistent so as not to make consumers
learn a new system, or have the oil manufacturers feel obligated to list both the old
numbers and the new numbers on the labels. Multi grade oils are the best of both
worlds and this accomplished by using additives to increase viscosity with the
increase temperature. There are many types of lubricants, just make sure that you
are using engine oil, and the engine oil for your type of engine, two or four stroke
engines, as other lubricants have similar gradings. A little history of oil: In 1866,
Medical Doctor John Ellis was trying to determine if there were any medicinal
properties of crude oil. He did not find any medical properties, but realized that there
were potentials in lubrication for steam engines. At that time, lubrication was mainly
animal or vegetable fat, and that has started to come back around full circle, but has
potential since new technology for refining those fats into a more usable lubrication.
He then founded the Predecessor to Valvoline oil, Continuous Oil Refining Company
and put his medical practice on hold indefinitely. He patented several refining

20. Censorship In The Soviet Union
Found in the Merriam Webster definition of the word communism, is the phrase a
system in which goods are owned in common and are available to all as needed. In
theory, the Soviet Union longed to be the workers state and hold true to the
previously defined aspect of communism. In actuality, history painted a different
story. The Soviet Union was considered as and self identified itself to be a communist
state. Even though the philosophical mindset of the Soviet Union preached for the
theoretical definition of a communist state, there emerged an elite upper class in the
Soviet Union that obtained many of which were similar to those of a capitalist
society. Upon examining the cultural phenomena of nomenklatura and blat in the

At the same time, elite members of society had the great benefits of blat and
nomenklatura all of this in a supposedly communist state. The asterisk continues to
grow even longer. It was clear that the phenomenon of blat became an ever so
important aspect of Soviet life. In a country where many lived in harsh conditions,
blat could be life changing. How then, exactly, did one become fortunate enough to
reap the benefits of blat? While there was no direct science to do so, another
divergence from traditional communism was a step in the right direction. A clearly
apparent deviant aspect from the traditional aspects of communism in the Soviet
Union was the manipulation and the monopoly of office holders in the Soviet
Union. Many of these office holders were typically appointed by the communist
party or required the approval of the party. This certainly ensured the office holders
were hand picked by members of the communist party and given the status
necessary for blat. For example, if there was only one person listed on the election
ballot then surely that person will win. This was a striking variance from the so
called democratic centralism the Soviet Union strived to achieve. What is more,
becoming an elected official was the fast track to acquiring blat as the nomenklatura
title was given to the office
21. Literary Criticism Of Candide
Voltaire had once said I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death
your right to say it. This quote itself is representative of who Voltaire was, a man
who was vocal and an activist. Born in 1694, Voltaire was set out to become a well
known writer and contributor to the Enlightenment. Voltairehad written many books,
but his most well known novel was Candide. This book was written as a satirical
response to the philosophy of complete optimism championed by scholars,
particularly Philosopher Leibniz. Throughout this novel, Voltaire utilizes the literary
genre of Bildungsromanto set a framework for criticizing Leibniz s philosophy.
Bildungsroman novels are characterized by the development of a young
person...attempting to learn the nature of the world (Hofeditz). The main rites of
passage are: birth, the teacher, love, and marriage. The main character in Voltaire s
novel, Candide, sets on a journey of finding love and gaining maturation, teaching
readers that nothing is perfect, life is worth living nonetheless (Academy). As
Bildungsroman novels begin, readers are first introduced to a character who is in
their early stages of life, still yet to understand the world. Candide s naiveness and
innocence is emphasized through depictions of a child as he listened to his teaching
with that unhesitating faith which marked his age (Voltaire, 20). As children are
often characterized as curious beings, completely new to the reality of this world,
Candide fits perfectly into the description. He is raised in this sort of safe haven,
Westphalia, isolated from the dangers of the world. Candide has no reason to distrust
anyone s teachings, causing him to attentively listen to Pangloss s teachings and
philosophy. Pangloss, playing the role of the teacher in this Bildungsroman literary
work, taught metaphysico theologo cosmolo nigology (Voltaire, 20). Pangloss
teaches the philosophy of complete optimism and that every event that occurs,
including the devastating happenings, is for the best. This teaching is engraved into
Candide s mind as he sets out on his journey of finding his love, Cunegonde. Voltaire
creates the character of Pangloss to symbolize the Enlightenment thinkers holding the

WHY THE STATUE OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS MUST COME DOWN IN
JAMAICA
Travel across the globe and you will find no shortage of monuments and statues
paying homage to those who have made significant contribution to society or to their
individual nations.
In Kemet The Black Land also known as Egypt, you will find one the oldest
monument on earth. Sitting on the west bank of the Nile in Gaza, is the Great
Sphinx of Giza, a symbol of our African greatness. Looking down on Parliament
Square in London is Nelson Mandela, the anti apartheid revolutionary. In Barbados
you have Bussa, the national hero who led the great slave revolt in 1816. His statue
symbolizes the breaking of the chains of slavery. Swing over to Guyana and you will
see the national hero, Kofi, a man stolen from Ghana, enslaved in Guyana and later
became liberator and leader of the 1763 slave revolt. Then there is Gaspar Yanga, the
African national hero of Mexico, leader and liberator of the Maroon of Mexico, and
the list goes on.
In Jamaica we have our own fleet of monuments and statues, a proud representation
of our own history, culture and achievements. Historically, Jamaicans are a proud,
strong willed people known to the world as freedom fighters, revolutionaries even
trend setters. Going all the way back to 18 century Jamaica and you will see the
Maroons led by Nanny and her brothers fighting and standing up to Europeans

23. New Fern Homes Analysis
In my last post I discussed my visit to New Bern to select and photograph homes.
The next part of my research process was to select houses that I would analyze in
Williamsburg. Initially I thought I would be able to compare homes of very similar
ages but this turned out not to be the case. Although I had selected the oldest homes
in New Bern, most were still built significantly later than those of Williamsburg. The
homes in New Bern were built in the latter part of the 18th century, while many
homes in Williamsburg were built in the early or mid 18th century. Additionally, the
New Bern homes were all grand in size, most having two or more stories. In contrast,
the majority of homes I researched in Colonial Williamsburg were more modest in
size. After choosing several homes in Colonial Williamsburg, I again met with Mr.
Klee, the architectural historian for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, who I
discussed my findings with. For starters, I had hoped to compare the general... Show

1755 George Wythe married Elizabeth, Richard Taliferro s daughter and then

couple. The brickwork of the exterior is of high quality with artistic touches seen in
the flayed brickwork above the windows (Whiffen 175). Perhaps the most notable
aspect of the house s construction is the use of ratios and symmetry to appeal to the
viewer s eye (Whiffen 88). All four exteriors of the house are symmetrical, with the
interior only symmetrical along the east west axis (Whiffen 175). Outbuildings and

24. Literature In Modern British Literature
Literature can embody time, start a revolution, or be used as a coaster under the
flattest fizzless cup of Pepsi. It can tell historical triumphs or new wave gyres, yet
in each of these examples, literature has a single and simple purpose. It is easy to
tell time through a book because a reader can simply glance back out their window
to check. It is easy to grab a group of friends read a guidebook on revolution and
paint some signs. A hipster might think it s chic to take an old copy of Peter
Rabbit, cut it into a circle, and proudly place his Pepsi atop. These examples are
easy, but again, these forms of Literature are old. A myth with new literature is that
it cannot tell time, rebel, or be cut up as quickly. Modern literature is confusing,
bewildering, wild, and beyond the page. Difficulty is the hand that puts the books,
short stories, or poems down after one may pick them up. Yet, modern British
literature can be especially trying and monstrously influential because the authors
did not only challenge their peers or their government, but the universe. A strategy
to challenge the universe must first challenge the reader. If someone needed a
clock, they would be able to find it within May Wedderburn Cannan s Rouen . If
someone wanted to rebel against the world, a reader would be able to discern a
reasonable direction in William Butler YeatsEaster 1916 . If someone needed a
coaster, they would be able to find the one piece of Literature accepting of its new
purpose
25. Humphrey Jennings s And Stewart Mcallister
Humphrey Jennings s and Stewart McAllister s Listen to Britain is a short British
propaganda documentary. Within the twenty minute film, it presented characteristics
that fit the expository, observational, and poetic style of documentary. At the
beginning of the film, there is a narrator that directly addresses the audience. This
forward narration is one of the key characteristics of an expository documentary.
Narration appears again later in the filmin the form of a montage of radio news clips.
The documentary is also an observational one as in most scenes the camera served
as a fly on the wall that allowed the audience to feel as if they were physically in the
scenes. At the beginning, these shots were presented in an order that were used to
help the narrative. The audience sees a woman place a candle... Show more content on

The documentary is both observational and reflexive. Most of the time during the
film, the audience feels as if they are part of the action. During the concerts, they
see the band from multiple angles including being on the stage with them as well
as being in the audience. However, during the performance of Satisfaction the
drummer, Charlie Watts, looks directly into the camera for an extended period of
time which is startling to the audience. The film is reflexive as the audience is
aware of the filmmaking process. The film cuts between actual documentary clips
and the band watching the clips that the audience just viewed. At one point when
watching the footage of a man with a gun and a Hells Angel with a knife, Mick
Jagger asks, Can you roll back, David? He is talking directly to one of the directors,
David Maysles. The audience is also able to see camera men in the audience and on
stage with large cameras that stand out, making them aware that footage is being

In The Pardoners Tale, the three rioters come together to kill Death, but in doing so
they come upon some things that they can t go back and change. An analysis of The
Pardoners Tale, shows how personification and irony are not so funny when Death is
involved. Death is personified throughout The Pardoners Tale. Personificationoccurs
when an author gives living characteristics to something that isn t living. The first
example occurs when the three rioters are drinking and they hear a funeral. The
tavern boy tells the men about their friend s death. , sir no need i promise you, two
hours before you came here i was told. He was a friend of yours in days of old, and
suddenly last night, the man was slain, upon his bench, face up, dead and... Show

Little did he know that the other two rioters were planning to kill him. There are
three types of irony told in The Pardoners Tale. Another form of irony is situational
irony. Situational irony is when a reader expects one thing then something else
occurs. Situational irony occurs in The Pardoners Tale when the three rioters are
in the bar, Let s each hold up a hand to one another, each of us will become the
others brother. ( Chaucer LL (696 697)) but by the time the three rioters find the
gold under the tree they all plot to kill each other in order to have more money to
themselves. The final example of irony told in The Pardoners Tale, is dramatic irony.
Dramatic irony is when an audience knows something that the characters are not
aware of. Dramatic irony is found in The Pardoners Tale, when the youngest rioter
arrives with the poisoned wine planning to kill the other two rioters, but the other two
rioters had plotted against the youngest trampling him and killing him. Once the
youngest rioter is dead the other two drink the poisoned wine not knowing that the

The novella and movie A River Runs Through It show a few different motifs. A
motif is a theme that keeps showing up as symbols. Three of the motifs were family,
water, and hands.
Family was shown throughout the novella as different actions. Norman and Paul s
father was teaching the two bothers how to fish Presbyterian style, using the
mothers metronome (page 5). This shows the father taking time out of his day to

the mother as being apart of the affair because it was her metronome that was doing
the four count for the boys. The checkbook was still in my hand as I reached the
jail, (page 23). In this scene Norman got a call about Paul being in jail and this shows
that family is willing to do anything for you because it was very late at night and he
still got up to go bail his brother out of jail. To my father, the highest commandment
was to do whatever his sons wanted him to do, especially if it meant to go fishing,

and Native Americans. Anthropologists were at a lost about why Native Americans
did not look like their ancestors who had traveled to America during the last ice
age using the broad landmass, Beringia which connected North America and Asia.
To solve this mystery, anthropologists came up with different theories to try and
explain the differences in physical features. It is the discovery of Naia, a 12,000 to
13,000 year old skeleton that helps them to make the connection. Naia s Discovery

An important issue regarding business ethics is the theory of moral hazard which
occurs when a person or business behaves differently when insulated from a certain
risk. Moral hazard theory states that when a person or business is insured against the
consequences of a particular event, this increases incentive for the insured to behave
in a way that will cause the event (Glassman, 2009). The current government bailout
of General Motors and Chrysler provides a vivid demonstration of moral hazard. In
order to prevent bankruptcy, the Canadian government bought stakes in both
companies totalling 14 billion dollars (Watson, 2009). Chrysler is now owned by
Fiat while GM has appointed several Canadian government officials as ... Show more

The package also includes special license plates that allow Volt owners to drive in
transit lanes. McGuinty claimed that this package will encourage Canadians to buy
greener vehicles. However, the Ford Fusion, Honda Insight and Toyota Prius, none
of which come with a subsidy package, are all more fuel efficient, and therefore
greener , than the Volt (Morgan, 2009). There is no reason for GM to improve the
Volt s design or fuel efficiency because the stimulus package alone gives them a
competitive advantage. This is a blatant attempt at policy changing in order to
promote a company in which the government has stakes. A moral hazard exists in this
case not only when these companies are facing bankruptcy, but also for during
product development and promotion.
Overall, the Canadian government s bailout of these automobile manufacturers was
a mistake. Not only is it illogical to financially reward a company that reacted
poorly to economic uncertainty, it also creates an immense moral hazard. Since the
rescue package has done very little to protect Canadian jobs and goes against public
and expert opinions, it only seems to be benefitting the executives that created a need
for the bailout in the first place. As a result, automobile manufacturers as well as
other corporations will begin to believe that no matter how many bad

Bilingual Education to ban or not to ban?
When we speak about this country The United States of America we automatically
think of the great number of languages people speak in this country. Take California
as an example. It is one of the border states of America, and this state is made up
mostly of immigrants. As a result, most people in this state are either bilingual or
even trilingual. In order for the immigrant students to become integrated into this
country, they must learn English, and Bilingual Education can help them assimilate
faster to this new country. Nevertheless, people continue to vote against and ban
Bilingual Education because they believe that if the student is here in America, he or
she should be treated the same as the native speakers in order to save money and for
him or her to better fit in. Even though many people criticize bilingual education, I
personally am one of the supportive fans of it because Bilingual Education allows
new immigrant students to learn English at a reasonable pace, assimilate to a new
environment, maintain their academic specialties, and not to fall behind.
What is Bilingual Education? The term refers to the practice of teaching non English
speaking children in their native language, and was developed in the 1960 s; these
programs were intended to allow students to progress in science, math and social
studies while they learned English in a separate class.
34. The Urban Setting Of Pompeii
Introduction Ancient Pompeii was a planned city, like countless other Roman cities,
military camps and forts. Roman colonies founded on open field sites display
Roman grid planning, or Centuriation, at its most elaborate such as at Cesena,
Padua, and Florence. Here, at Pompeii, a famous Italian town in antiquity because
of its excellent preservation caused by the volcanic explosion of Mt. Vesuvius
during the first century AD. The streets, canals, agriculture plots and public spaces
were laid out along geometric lines and these striations are suggestive of an ordered
arrangement reflected by the regular layout of a square grid, made famous by the
Romans. However, unlike in the sites listed above, Pompeii exists as a unique
example of Roman urban planningas it incorporates ideas of traditional grid style
planning, but also more organic forms as well. In this assessment of the urban
setting of Pompeii, there will be a brief historical overview of the cityin terms of
urban designand its rediscovery, followed by an analysis describing the importance of
the domestic architecture, proceeding to evolution of the development and layout of
the urban landscape and it affected the social fabric of the town.
History of the Pompeiian Urban Setting Pompeii, whose heritage was originally
Greek, had become overrun by the Samnites in the fifth Century BC and even at that
this point had a plethora of urban buildings that predate Rome by several centuries.

Sun Microsystems had an extremely tough decision to make in regards to its

Taking on this type of procurement strategy would benefit Sun with cost savings on
procurements, but may jeopardize their supplier relationships and quality of inputs
for Sun products.

It would allow Sun to choose their supplier by cost and match that with their internal
aggregated demand figures. This would raise competition between suppliers and
allow Sun to reduce their procurement costs. Sun would have to take many factors
into consideration when bidding on suppliers such that quality and integrity are not
affected, thus tampering with their relationships with their suppliers.
Advantages: A dynamic bidding system has the potential to reduce costs through
price flexibility; it is fast and conveniently transacted through the Internet, and allows
for expanded competition among suppliers.
Disadvantages: With so much focus on lower prices, initial quality would be affected,
current supplier relationships would deteriorate, collusion of suppliers could result,
and the possibility of an Internet security threat could arise.
Sun prides itself on strategic supplier relationships. Making this type of change in
procurement strategy may affect these relationships. Sun management has to decide
if it wants to continue its ethical business through strong supplier relationships, or
follow the greed trail of money hungry corporations. I would involve top
management from all of my major suppliers in making such a decision and let them

36. Economic And Social Aspects Of The Commercial
Revolution...
During the Middle Ages, the period from the eleventh to the thirteenth centuries, the
European economy was able to expand. Commercial Revolution was when trade
grew and merchants had developed new business techniques. The modernizing trade
in the Commercial Revolution was a cause for a rebirth of town life. According to
Cole, Urban manufacturing was regulated by professional associations known as
guilds or confraternities. Also, guilds promoted the interests of the members by
trying to defend monopolies and to limit competition. In the late Middle Agesthe
cloth trade had become an important site of conflict. The Middle Ages and these
conflicts became a feature of life including famine, plague, war, social, and economic
conflicts. The Medieval GuildSystem comprised of craft and merchant guilds
influencing economic and social aspects of European life.
During this time the two most common guilds were craftsmen and merchant.
Merchant guilds sold increasing quantities of cloth around Europe and they imported
raw wool from England to supply the cloth makers in order to handle long distance
and regional trade. The other guild craftsmen was when weavers or dyers achieved a
monopoly in the production of a product. In many places where the guilds performed
independently of one another the craft guilds began to take over the control of the
production from the merchant guilds. The guilds set quality standards for their
products, managed the size of the workshops, the

The Fox family, John, Margaret and two of their daughters Kate and Margaret[ta],

house reportedly had seen it s fair share of tenants even though it had a reputation for
being haunted and bore the nickname of spook house . The previous tenant, a Mr.
Michael Weakman, had moved from the home because of inexplicable disturbances, a
common complaint among many of the previous tenants.
At first, the family dismissed any strange noise in the home as being caused by the
window sash. Mr. John Fox would inspect the sashes by rattling them to compare the
noise to what they had heard. It was from this experiment young Kate had the idea to
snap her fingers and bid the unseen noisemaker to answer, marking the first time their
communication with the spirit occurred.
The escalation of the unknown sounds grew to be too distressing for John and
Margaret when one night they were jarred awake by an unseen force. They felt the

noises persisted until they finally fell asleep from exhaustion. Fatigued from these
disturbances, they woke the next morning wanting answers.

flanking the opening. They were amazed to find the knocks came from between them.

A third incentive of European colonialism was nationalism. Europe wanted to
prove its superiority by colonizing and being in control of as much land as possible.
During the period 1850 to 1871, the nation state achieved its mature status in
Europe. Nationalism clearly became the principal basis for the organization of
western civilization. This fact had earlier been demonstrated in England and in
France during the course of their political revolutions. In this period, it became
manifest throughout Europe. Nationalism is a primary motivating element, which
determined the course of events in France during the regime of Napoleon III, Italy
where unification was achieved, Germany, where unification was achieved, Russia
where important steps towards modernization were taken, and the United States,
which experienced the Civil War, a war to preserve the union. [7] Nationalism is

exactly are these stereotypes? How did they come about? Whose responsible for
perpetuating these terms? And what harm are they are they doing to Asian Americans
anyway?
Where to Begin: A Brief History of Japanese Immigration
The Issei (first generation) Japanese came to the United States during the first years
of the Meiji era after the Tokugawa system of economics and politics collapsed in
the 1850s and 1860s. One contributing factor was the visit of an American fleet
commanded by Commodore Matthew Perry whose fleet of tall ships demanded
Japan open its doors to trade and contract with the outside world. Merchants, students
and the lower economic strata of tenant farmers, agricultural labourers and owners of
very small plots of land were among the first to emigrate to the U.S., mostly through
Hawi i.
In 1910, Japanese are banned from marrying non Orientals and the practice of
arranging for picture brides began. During the first two decades of the 1900s, more
than 20,000 Japanese women arrived, more often than not as picture brides (Mei T.

43. Summary Of The Silent
Motionless, like a wounded prey cornered by its predator, I finally understood the
definition of fear. To be victimised as the villain of the story. To be discriminated as
the plague behind all creation s problems. To be stereotyped as the face of the
oppressors. The fear was so overwhelming and overpowering, as if my stomach was
rotting away, with whatever dignity that remained of me being eaten by blood
thirsty parasites. I could only pray for the Earth beneath me to crack wide open and
swallow me into an eternal abyss away from this trembling terror. It was the perfect
setting for a perfect day. The historic city of Granada was in a state of euphoria, as
the beaming radiance of the sun struck the town, evoking an atmosphere of joy and...

Happiness and excitement permeated the crowd, cheering for what I could only
guess being the imaginative floats, the thundering tempo played by the bands, and
the exhilarating surroundings itself. The breath taking spectacle of the confetti
engulfing the sky like the miraculous sight of a murmuration, struck the city into a
collective awe, bringing a smile to everyone s faces. Amidst the enjoyment, our
group leader was approached by a homeless woman, who requested for spare
change in order to buy water to quench her thirst. The group leader gave twenty
euros to the homeless man like it was just a simple day to day routine. TWENTY?
was the confound reaction of the group and I, astonished at the fact that what we
deemed as a fortune, was simply a mere piece of replaceable paper for our group
leader. A man so humble yet so profound, wearing nothing but a simple white ankle
length garment and worn out sandals. With a long black beard that he stroked at
times, the group leader did not pay attention to the juxtaposition of his appearance.
Giving the slightest of thoughts to his outward appearance and how society
portrayed him and his lack of style , but instead paid close attention to his inward
appearance and his
44. Memory Foam And Its Effects
While memory foam has gained notable market share in recent years, people are now
seeking out solutions like that offered by Nolah because it s NOT memory foam,
which many consumers are having unpleasant issues with. This includes the fact that
it sleeps too hot since it s filled with Viscoelastic chemicals (found in ALL memory
foammattresses) and also that memory foam is prone to sagging over time. Nolah
Air Foam solves both of these issues as it contains no heat sensitive chemicals
whatsoever, and it s also far more durable than memory foam. Nolah s mattressloses
as little as 0.03 inches over time in foam thickness as compared to even ultra high end
memory foam, which loses 3x times that amount in thickness over time. As for...

But today s convoluted supply chains have led to a bloated and inefficient business
model that overcharges consumers considerably. Instead, Nolah s business model
tackles the inherent limitations of the traditional mattress buying experience,
allowing consumers to avoid exorbitant mattress store costs but without sacrificing
quality.
Having personally experienced its own mattress prices get marked up by as much
as 3,000% in retail before reaching the consumer, Nolah s owners, Anna Hjoellund
and Daniel Galle, were determined to shift the balance of power back into the
hands of everyday consumers. They started selling exclusively online to bypass
what they refer to as the greedy retailers and mattress middlemen in the process.
So, with Nolah, consumers can now easily shop for a technically advanced foam
mattress exclusively online and save as much as 70% in the process, accounting
for thousands of dollars in savings as compared to a similar retail store mattress.
Brand name mattresses built with comparable materials cost as much as $5,000,
but prices at NolahMattress.com currently start as low as $519 for a twin and top
out at $949 for a California King. It s no surprise that people are increasingly
choosing to buy this more advanced mattress online in lieu of alternatives designed
with 40 year old technology that are sold by brick and mortar retailers rendering
astronomical price points,
45. Solitary Confinement Essay
In the United States the penal system is developed under two separate systems. One
is the Auburn system and the second is the Pennsylvania system. The current system
in the United States for solitary confinement was taken from the Pennsylvania model
which was built for isolation and seclusion solitary confinement was used as an
alternative form of punishment but at the time it was meant to provide a prisoner
with solitude to reflect on his misdeeds It was used to help the prisoner repent, and
restore his relationship with God.
Solitary Confinement Cases
In 1890, Supreme Court Justice Samuel Miller condemned the practice: A
considerable number of the prisoners fell, after even a short confinement, into a semi
fatuous condition, from which it was next to impossible to arouse them, and others
became violently insane; others still, committed suicide; while those who stood the
ordeal better were not generally reformed, and in most cases did not recover
sufficient mental activity to be of any subsequent service to the community. In re
Medley, 134 U.S. 160, 168 (1890)
Another case was in 1995, Judge Thelton Henderson wrote that solitary confinement
may well hover on the edge of what is humanly tolerable, and that for those who have
been diagnosed mentally ill, placing them in solitary confinement is the mental
equivalent of putting an asthmatic in a place with little air. Madrid v. Gomez, 889 F.

46. What Is The Thing In The Forest
The Thing in The Forest by A. S. Byatt is a short story that takes place in London,
it is about two girls who were send away by their parents with no clue why they
were send,. Is the reason was a punishment or vacation. The two girls become
friends as soon as they met each other and they were always together and did not
want anyone to be friends with them because when Alys wanted to be friend with
them they did not let her and that when she disappeared in the forest and nobody
knows why and how she disappeared. When you read the whole story The Thingin
The Forest , you will start questioning yourself these questions the following

It could be. Let us say that Alys went to the forest and while she was following the
girls she saw an animal, small animal, that she killed or injured it by mistake and
the mother/ father of that animal saw Alys and killed her and two poor girls saw
that and could not do anything to save her. It can also be an hungry animal that ate
Alys because the two girls saw the thing in the forest again when were older and
they saw a little bones that they thought are Alys s bones. In other words, It could
be an hungry animal that ate Alys or she may injured the baby of the animal and
killed by him. If the thing that killed Alys was not the animal then the two girls
may killed her because she saw what they were doing in the forest. As we know
from the story that the two girls were saying that Alys was alone and did not have
anyone to look after her and she was insist to become their friend but they did not
want to be friends with her. So they left her and run away from her so that she
could not find them but she did find them. when she followed them she saw the
thing that she did not supposed to see and that caused her death. They killed her
because they knew that she will tell everyone about what she had seen and this was
the only way to keep her silent. Because of the confusion that moment the two girls
realized that they were doing something wrong and that is why they felt guilty.
However, they created a thing in the forest so they just feel fine about what they did
but that did not work and they still feeling
47. Chillingworth As A Sinner
In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter, the readers are able to notice how a
single sin is capable of destroying three perfectly good lives. Chillingworth, Hester,
and Dimmesdale are all guilty of submitting to, anger, and ambition, causing all to
qualify as a sinner. Chillingworth s sinfulness ways put him higher up than Hester
and Dimmesdale on the scale of their evil acts. From the instant Chillingworth is
introduced, he is dishonest with the Puritan society. Chillingworth is portrayed as
though he doesn t know any kind of thing that may have gone on at scaffold. He
asks one of the puritans: ...who is this woman? and wherefore is she here to set up to
public shame? (Hawthorne 67). We learn in the following chapter that he does

48. Persuasive Essay On Adoption
No not all couples can have a child to love and raise but there is a great opportunity
for them to have a child to love and care for, and that is call adoption. People adopt
children for so many reason. It provides a possibility for an unwanted child to have a
home and be loved and had a happy life. There are so many people adopted and that
has changed their life. Don t you wonder where Steve Jobs, Jamie Foxx, and Babe
Ruth would be if they weren t adopted? And I do wonder where I would be if I wasn
t adopted.
One reason why people choose to adopt is because they are unable to conceive kids,
or because they have had miscarriages and don t want to risk losing their child again.
Some might adopt stepchildren or children of family members who aren t financially
stable to support their child.
The adoption process can be very long. There is a 10 step process from the NAC
(National Adoption Center) website that states that step number one is to learn
about adoption. The next step is to choose an adoption agency. Step number three
is having a home study completed. Number four is trying to find a child, and then
give your info to the child s agency. After you get info about the child you chose
then you can go meet the child. Step number eight is to get a date where you can
actually receive the child. Next you can finalize everything with the adoption. The
final step is to live a happy life.
There are 2 different types of adoption. One is international, and the next is
49. The Negative Consequences Of Plagiarism In The Modern
Age
Recent memory has been filled with technological advances following one after
another; the twenty first century has been an era in which change occurs at a nearly
exponential rate. Each of these advances has brought new opportunities for students
and educators to further the learning experiences. Few students can imagine a time
before beneficial technologies like interactive white boards or the near infinite
resources held within the internet. However, these same resources which can be
positively used by students to supplements their educationcan also be used to
unethically benefit from the hard work of others. In the modern age, plagiarismis a
tempting, easy, and accessible ploy utilized by students across the world. In spite of
the shifts in technology and increased ease with which plagiarizers can operate,
academia remains staunch in its stance against the theft of other s intellectual
property. At all educational levels, teachers still stress the importance of using proper
citations and the administrations of various high schools and colleges have strict anti
plagiarism policies. However, the methodologies of teachers and administrators have
changed to fit the times. In high school, many English teachers spend entire weeks
teaching their students the proper methods of citation on paper and using online
resources. Likewise, school officials explain to their students on a yearly basis the
negative consequences of plagiarizing works while providing them with the
50. Enlightenment Vs Enlightenment
The biggest life long journey that anyone can go through is the never ending
search for enlightenment and self knowledge. Our own personal journey starts
with self reflection and to become our own person. How do we do that when we
have been molded since childhood to think, believe, and act how others have
always told us to? In Kant s What is Enlightenment , he breaks down how to
achieve what he considers to be true enlightenment. Kant defines enlightenment as
a release from self incurred tutelage. By self incurred tutelage here he meant
immaturity and he describes immaturity as the inability of a person to make use of
their own understanding and reasons without the help of others. The motto of
Enlightenment is: Sapere aude! or Dare to know! Have the courage to use one s
own understanding. He asks us to be rational, he says we should not obey
authorities like parents, law enforcement, and even spiritual leaders. If you want to
obey them, first rationalize and then obey, otherwise you are not rational or ethical.
He asks us to become rational and think for ourselves for every action we perform
without the help of others. He then described the reasons behind the immaturity that
is so prevalent in a person. He says laziness and cowardice are the reasons why
such a large part of mankind gladly remain minors all their lives, long after nature
has freed them from external guidance. By laziness here he is referring to the mental
laziness; that nobody wants to exert
51. Ethos Pathos In Advertising
Advertisements are effective in many ways. Advertisement creators use three
effective ways to persuade the audience into what the advertisement conveys. The
three effective persuasion tools are ethos, pathos, and logos. Without these three
persuasion tools, advertisements would be ineffective and the audience would not
be likely to buy the product or be effected by the message that the advertisement
tries to convey. Ethos is used to show how credible the advertisement is. Logos is
used to show the logical side of a product or a message. Pathos is the emotional take
on an advertisement. In a lot of smokingadvertisements that want their audience to
stop smoking, the advertisement authors use pathos to persuade the audience to quit
smoking or at least cutback. The smoking advertisements are more pathos driven
because it persuades the audience more by showing the emotional factors and how
smoking could cause a lot of harm to someone. In a lot of advertisements to stop
someone from smoking, the advertisements show the effects smoking has on both
people who smoke and people who do not smoke. The audience for smoking
advertisements are not just smokers, but are also those whose lives have been
effected by a smoker. Authors bring up the effects smoking has by sometimes
including a smoker that has been physically harmed, not only on the inside but also
on the outside. By showing the outside physical harm, the audience is persuaded
more to not smoke because they can actually see
52. Stereotypes Of Today s Meeting
Hello, everyone,
I am emailing you because I am disappointed with the turnout of today s meeting. As
president of the club, it is my job to make sure all board members are pushing their
own weight.
I understand you may not able to attend all the meetings, but you need to get into the
habit of informing another board member of your absence. It makes it difficult on
myself as well as the other board members when several of you do not show. Also,
please only miss meetings if you absolutely have to. I understand having to attend
class or work but deciding you do not want to show up because you just do not feel
like it is disrespectful and inappropriate in your position.
I also understand that we are coming up on Thanksgiving. I asked if we
53. Advertising Is An Visible Constant Presence Essay
Even when we re blissfully unaware, we are being persuaded. In today s media
driven world, advertising is an almost constant presence. It is on television, in the
films we watch, all over our social media accounts, and even plastered on the walls
of locations that we visit every day. Advertising is meant to market a product or
service to a consumer, utilizing mostly tactics of persuasionto do so. Because
advertisingis so continually present, companies must be more innovative than ever
with their persuasive methods. Depending on the product or service, these methods
vary but some of the popular ones include appealing to the internal attitudes of the
consumer by using strategic and repetitive methods for the delivery of the message to
appeal to the target audience. Virtually all industries do this, though a unique
example of persuasion in advertising is found in the medical and health industries; the
United States is one of the few countries that allows direct to consumer advertising for
pharmaceuticals. The healthcare industry has always had the ability to advertise but
with the new medical advertising, its budget for marketing has exploded as well.
The Food and Drug Administration, also commonly referred to as the FDA,
previously banned direct to consumer advertising for drug companies, but the
restriction was lifted in 1997 and a new age of medical advertising was born.
Previously, various medications and health services were found directly through a
visit to a doctor s
