Abstract
In this experiment we wanted to determine the optimal temperatures for fungal,
Aspergillus oryzae, and bacterial, Bacillus licheniformis. In order to see if any of the
starch was broken down, Iodine was mixed with the starch amylase substance. In four
spot plates, the groups labeled the different temperatures, once the iodine came in
contact with the starch, the result would be a reaction that turns the fluid into this
dark blue/black color. In a span of 10 minutes, with occasional check ups on the
solution every 2 minutes, the amylase starch solution was placed into five types of
temperature, all being Celsius. The five temperatures were 0 degrees, 25 degrees, 55
degrees, and 85 degrees Celsius. The solution would change colors, so in order to
measure the changes, a scale was used. Such scale was a 1 5 scale, with colors next
to each number. One being the lightest color, or yellow, and 5 being the darkest
color, or black. Based on the change of color, we could tell how fast it hydrolyzed
the starch in a span of 10 minutes. To keep record of the results, the results were put
in Data Tables used from the Lab Manual. The average optimal temperature for
Bacteria Amylase was 85 degrees Celsius, while the Fungal was 55 degrees Celsius.

Throughout the past semester, I ve gained a lot of experience when it comes to
teaching. I ve learned more than I ever knew before and am gaining more experience
in the actual field instead of babysitting at after school programs. That being said,
while watching not only my mentee but the other mentees at Kids Count I ve come
to realize the two biggest things they struggled at is readingand mathematics. Most
students there struggle reading in general but they also struggle in pronouncing
words. I sought to find an article that helped break down phonemes and I found the
Blending Wheelarticle. What drew me to this specific article was the fact that this
was a specific activity (a pretty cool one in fact), instead of instruction help. For the
other article, most students there also struggle with the basics of mathematics, so I
wanted to find an article that helped students learn mathematics in a fun way. I liked
the shared story article because it brought together something that most people don t
think of: reading and mathematics. It s great for us to realize as instructors that
everything is related and can be used in conjunction with another. The first article,

1.What are the reasons and what is the purpose of state and local regulations for
corpse disposition?
Regulations for corpse disposition are implemented because when the body dies it
begins to decompose which results in a foul odor. State and local regulations are
in place so that proper burial can occur and the odor does not offend society. Also,
the dead bodies have to be far enough from the water supply as to not taint it and
sicken the population. These regulations are in place to protect the people as well as

the rest of the episode is structured around how they cope or maintain a regular life
while managing being exposed to death on a daily basis. I personally believe this
show discusses the idea of funeral directors (and others involved) having a life

I personally have never heard of them until reading this article. I find it very
interesting for this alternative to exist but it is not widely known by individuals. I
have only experienced few immediate deaths in my family and we always said we
wished we had an alternative option. Looking back on it I think my family does
not necessarily visit the tombstone of our loved ones so having somewhere where
their body helps nature would be best option for us. I am very aware that other
cultures or families may not find this to be a perk of their funeral process and
therefore may prefer traditional burial services.
6.What other ideas do you have about alternative, eco friendly funerals?
I think that this existing gives individuals freedom of expression even after passing

peers. An identity problem is an effect that teenagers develop once they know they
ve been adopted. They do not have a strong sense of self and struggle with identity

Ezra Pound has been deemed one of Poetry s most important contributors.
(Remembering Poets, 1). T.S. Eliot and Donald Hall both believed Ezra Pound to be
the biggest influence on poetry of his time. (Poetry.org, 1). He was dedicated to his
work, and from a young age, until his death in 1972, he worked tirelessly, creating

characteristics. The sandy beach is the junction of land and ocean. The sandy

drinking wateris not available for people because it is contaminated or hard to reach
or some other kind of obstructive factor. In the current media, places of this nature

enormous amount of funding being put forth for finding new ways of generating
fresh drinking water. There are also not many scientifically proven techniques to do
so. Currently, the only techniques that are really implemented include: distillation,
carbon filtration, membrane filtration, ultraviolet irradiation, reverse osmosis, and
ion exchange (Roush). However, these current techniques are very costly and they
require a large amount of energy to be used when done. Alternative techniques that

words as them, and that she starting to speak like them. These clashes influence her
relationship with her parents, in that they began to not understand her, for example;
Jary would say !que brutal! , (which literally translates into how brutal ) when
describing something she thought was interesting or nice. Her parents not
understanding began to correct her, but she eventually explained to her.
