Sure the brain has the actual chemical processes and functions, but the mind holds the reasoning
behinds actions, and the complex feelings a person has. It is basically what makes a person who he is,

Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) curriculum in schools is undergoing a
revolution in public education. This revolution is sparked by an increase in federal funding over the
last decade. Between the years of 2011 and 2015, the federal government alone invested between three
and 3.7 billion dollars yearly for STEM education (Johnson, 2012) (White House Office of Science
and Technology Policy, 2014) and new STEM educational instructional strategies (Bruce Dacis,
Gubbins, Gilson, Villanueva, Foreman, 2014). Despite these new investments and changes, many
students are neither enrolling nor excelling in STEM programming, particularly students of color
(Museus, Palmer, Davis, Maramba, 2011). Concurrently, many of the areas of greatest economic
opportunity exist in STEM related fields (National Research Council, 2011). In order to overcome the
opportunity gap that exists between White students and students of color, it is essential for schools and
districts to research and implement best practices related to STEM in classrooms. The practices must
not only be based in strong pedagogy and professional awareness, but also include culturally
responsive practices both within the classroom and the building (Johnson, Peters Burton, Moore,

Research Goals
We propose to study the relationship between the thymus, T cells, and wound healing by performing
larval thymectomy to generate T cell deficient tadpoles and frogs. Alternatively, many studies have
demonstrated that mice missing the recombinase activating gene (RAG) are deficient in functional B
and T lymphocytes (Thompson, 1992; Mombaerts et al, 1992; Belizário, 2009). Our study can be
accomplished by the use of RAG knockout frogs, which we hope to obtain. Regardless of the method
of obtaining T cell deficient tadpoles and frogs, wound healing will be evaluated by a combination of
molecular and histological techniques. Our goal is to better understand the role T lymphocytes have in
wound healing.
Research Plan
Generating tadpoles and frogs without a thymus Microscope guided electrocautery of the thymic lobes
will be performed on early stage (Niewkoop Farber, NF, stages 42 48) tadpoles. The procedure will
consist of first anesthetizing the tadpole, then using sharpened tungsten wires connected to an adapted
power supply to pierce the thymic lobes and perform

a. Beginning December 5, 2016, the clinical instructor will use both formative evaluation methods to
assess the student s progress towards achieving the course outcomes and expected behaviors each
week (Billings Halstead, 2016). In addition, the clinical instructor will review the student s self
evaluation plan upon completion of the clinical rotation (Billings Halstead, 2016).
b. The clinical instructor will evaluate the student using electronic orders, medication profiles, and the
five rights of the medication administration process. In addition, the student s preceptor will be

CS was first described by Dr. David G Cogan in 1945 as a non syphilitic interstitial keratitis with
vestibuloauditory symptoms (1). CS is rare, with fewer than 250 reported cases in the literature, and is
mostly described in young adult Caucasian patients of both sexes (2). CS is an extremely rare disorder
in Arabic and Middle Eastern countries(3). The novelty of this study is represented by being the first
case reported within Jordanian population that is 7 million people.
The classical form of ocular involvement in CS is characterized by the interstitial keratitis, but also,
iritis or uveitis, scleritis or episcleritis, and conjunctivitis have been also described, and the atypical
CS exists in the absence of interstitial keratitis (2). Some systemic manifestations have been reported
in association with CS, including vasculitis of the aorta leading to aortic aneurysm and/or aortic valve
regurgitation, fever, arthralgia (or arthritis), lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, skin rash, and peripheral
or central nervous system involvement (2, 4).
The ocular involvement in CS usually gives a good response to topical corticosteroids therapy, while,
systemic corticosteroids are reserved for unresponsive cases or those with posterior uveitis, it was
reported that poor long term ophthalmologic outcomes due to CS are unusual in contrast to
vestibuloauditory affection(4).
