The Analytical Method Of Marx And Engels
Firestone uses the analytical method of Marx and Engels to create a theoretical frame which includes
issues of oppression based on sex. I found her distinction between what Marx and Engels specifically
say about women and the family model and her theory of a greater understanding of how gender
works dialectically and materially very helpful. I also connected with her assertion that issues of
gender seem to pervade every part of social life and that many women give up in despair... because of
how deep the issues go (Firestone 90). I think this statement is often true because accepting that
patriarchy exists in such a multifaceted way can be overwhelming and disheartening. Moreover, I also
appreciated the idea that [b]efore we can act to change a situation, however, we must know how it has
arisen and evolved, and through what institutions it now operates (Firestone 90). This seems like an
important way to bridge the gap between theory and activism. I think it is important for activists to
consider the assumptions they are working under before they take action. Although I think a lack of
action is a legitimate criticism of modern feminism, we still need to know what we are fighting for.
I also found Firestone s point that ...so profound a change cannot be easily fit into traditional
categories of thought to be both profound and indicative of her own assumptions as a theorist
(Firestone 91). Just as Marx provided a limited but beautiful piece of theoretical work, so does

The Oresteia Essay
The Oresteia
In the trilogy Oresteia, the issues concerned are the transformation from vengeance to law, from chaos
to peace, from dependence to independence, and from old to new. These four significant changes all
take place throughout the play and are somewhat parallel to the transformations that were going on in
Ancient Greece.
In Aeschylus trilogy, the Greeks justice system went through a transformation from old to new ways.
In the beginning of the trilogy, the characters settle their matters, both personal and professional, with
vengeance. Vengeance is when someone is harmed or killed, and either the victim, or someone close
to them takes revenge on the criminal. This matter is proven in the trilogy numerous times. ... Show

Another way that transformation is shown in the trilogy is the way that it goes from chaos to harmony.
In the beginning of the story, everything is hectic and does not settle down until the very end of the
play. Not only is the country of Greece in turmoil because of the civil war, but also the family of King
Agamemnon is full of chaos and disorder. Although in the beginning it looks like the chaos will not
settle down, by the end, there is peace. Because in the end, Orestes is set free and acquitted of the
crime, the reader is left with a feeling of calmness. Everything is settled and there is a sense of
harmony, both in the city of Athens and in within the characters.
The third transformation also takes place in the Oresteia. This transformation is from dependence to
independence. When the play begins, the characters rely greatly on the gods to direct their lives and
tell them what they should do. They depend on the gods to explain everything that happens as well. It
is near the end when the transformation takes place and they begin to solve their problems on their
own and do not need the gods to settle their disputes. This is especially evident when they have a trial
for Orestes with a jury to decide his fate, not a god. The Greeks are moving away from the gods and
myth as well. They are becoming more independent and are beginning to rely more on science and

How Leadership Styles Affect Productivity By E. Brown There are 4 primary leadership styles, many
of which you can find within most businesses or organizations around the world. These styles are:
Dictatorial, Authoritative, Consultative, and Participative. Each of the leadership styles have impact
on reforming and/or creating company culture. There are short and long term affects of each style. For
instance, the authoritative style may produce great results in a short amount of time. However,
excessive use of authority will decrease productivity in the long term. People either get fed up and
leave or fall into a malaise of hum drum repetitive tasks without creativity and innovation. All the
while, a participative style will be unproductive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You dont have any control over outside influences. You are going to face the implementation of an
unpopular change in the norm. Somebody is going to dictate a new policy or procedure. While you
cant control the outside influence you can control your units interpretation of it. Minor changes are
fairly simply. Introduce the new policy or procedure, provide your employees with as much
background on why the change is necessary, train them and then follow up with praise or sanction.
Larger or dramatic changes are more difficult. As with smaller changes to the norm, you must first
seek clarity. Find out as much as you can why the change is necessary. Make sure you know as much
as possible. I am always honest with my people. When I dont like something or think a change is
going to be difficult I admit it. As a follower, I have sat through too many gratuitous roll calls where
the sergeant or lieutenant is giving us happy talk. I recommend you say something like, I dont like this
anymore than you do. But, this is how we are going to do it. This admission is actually an emphasis of
the norm of obedience to orders and the value of you place on it. After you have made this admission,
adopt the new norm and place the appropriate value on it. Dont undermine yourself or your
organization by rolling your eyes or somehow expressing that you dont believe the new change should
be implemented. As with the minor change,

Understanding Digital Imaging
Digital Imaging Understanding Digital Imaging
What is Digital Images
DIGITAL IMAGES are electronic snapshots taken of a scene or scanned from documents, such as
photographs, manuscripts, printed texts, and artwork. The digital image is sampled and mapped as a
grid of dots or picture elements (pixels). Each pixel is assigned a total value (black, white, shades of
gray or color), which is represented in binary code (zeros and ones). The binary digits ( bits ) for each
pixel are stored in a sequence by a computer and often reduced to a mathematical analog version for
display or printing. http://preservationtutorial.library.cornell.edu/intro/intro 01.html

Vector Graphics can include text, most modern fonts, floor plans, engineering diagrams and
spreadsheet charts.
While Bitmap Graphics format is used for still images, such as scanners, digital cameras and most
web pages use Bitmap to create realistic images. The Vector Graphic SVG format is the most popular
for Web based Vector graphics. Vector Graphics also resize better than and use less storage than
Bitmap Graphics, Vector Graphics are not usually as realistic as Bitmap Graphics. Each Graphic has
its purpose so depending what is needed. If there is a need to scan doc, use a camera to take a photo,
etc then one of the Bitmap Graphic format is used. If you want to create a spreadsheet or do floor
plans then one of the Vector Graphics format is used.
We will explain 3D graphics, how it is created and what occupations at Amazon and other companies
use them.
3 D (3 dimensional) is the creation, display and manipulation of objects in the computer in three
dimensions. 3D Graphics are based on Vector graphs stored as a set of instructions describing the
coordinates for lines and shapes in a 3 dimensional space. The Vectors form a wireframe, which is
covered with surface texture and color to create a graphic of a 3 D object that is called rendering.
Software such as Auto desk, AutoCAD, Open Source, etc. are needed to create 3D graphics. Each of

The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything
The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically
and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This is
due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs that
their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other
creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1 2, saying that they
do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its own belief
from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with
the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended
period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical timeline, but it being
a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific
outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new substances and species,
information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared to the other viewpoints of
creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World and theistic approaches to the
origin story have their own pros and cons, but they both have glaring weaknesses. They both ignore
and deny the existence of evidence from the other viewpoints. The

Examples Of Peaceful Resistance
AI believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it allows people to
say how they feel, and they do not have to go to extreme measures to feel like they are being heard. A
lot of violence that goes on in other countries occurs because the people just want to be heard by their
government and want to have a say. Peaceful resistance has been around since before Mahatma
Gandhi s time, however he strongly believed in it. He believed in peaceful resistance because he
thought that the government would listen more and be more open to change if the people were not
attacking their soldiers and killing others. By using the tactic of peaceful resistance, one is opening up
the fight to those who are young, old, or disabled and otherwise ... Show more content on

By the people being allowed to peacefully resist government programs or decisions, the people still
feel like they have a say in how the country is run like it was many years ago. Peaceful resistance all
shows others that you do not need to be strong or own a weapon to feel heard. On December 1, 1955,
Rosa Parks made a perfect example of how a peaceful resistance does make a difference. Rosa Parks
refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus for a white man, so she got arrested. Even though she
got arrested for refusing, she showed all the other black people and white people on that bus that she
was not afraid to go to jail for what she believed in. She was not afraid to stand up to two white men
who ordered her to move to the back of the bus. Rosa Parks was very well known after that day
because she used her freedom of speech to say what she wanted and to sit where she wanted to sit. She
did not give in and let the two superior white men bully her into moving to the back. Peaceful
resistance was just starting with Rosa Parks, and it continued for many years and still goes on to this

Young Goodman Brown Hypocrisy
In the late 1600s, the infamous Salem Witch Trials occurred. The Salem Witch Trials were a series of
hearings and prosecutions of those accused of witchcraft. In Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel
Hawthorne shows that the Puritans are hypocrites by showing that members of the Puritan community
lie about their beliefs. Young Goodman Brown lives with his wife, Faith, who urges him not to travel
into the forest, but Young Goodman Brown chooses to ignore Faith s advice and continue into the
forest. In the woods, Brown meets with a strange traveler who he later realizes is the devil in disguise
and witnesses him speak to Goody Cloyse as if they are friends. Then, he observes a witch meeting in
which he is shocked to see Goody Cloyse, Faith, and other Puritans attend. The scene suddenly
changes and Brown wakes up in the forest, unsure whether his experience in the forest was a dream or
reality. He loses all hope in the goodness of man and Puritanism and returns ... Show more content on

After his meeting with the strange traveler, Young Goodman Brown begins to see the hypocrisy of the
Puritan community. Almost halfway through the story, Hawthorne portrays Young Goodman Brown s
shock in the discovery that Goody Cloyse is a follower of the devil by saying, That old woman taught
me my catechism! said the young man; and there was a world of meaning in this simple comment
(Hawthorne). Even though Puritan belief states to love your neighbor, the Puritans were very skeptical
of their neighbors. After learning that several individuals, like Goody Cloyse, are hypocrites, Brown
can no longer trust the members of the Puritan community. Puritans accused other Puritans just as
Brown accused his wife over an event that may have just been a dream and lost his religious faith, as
well as his wife, Faith, because of their lack of trust in one

Racism Against The Irish Racism
In this paper, I intend to investigate how racism against the Irish in Britain has changed since the
nineteenth century to the modern day, and these causes of the initial prejudices and how they adjusted
over time. To accomplish this, I will examine occurrences of anti Irish racism in Britain from a variety
of dates, and propose causes of the racist feelings though evidence of popular racist and colonialist
theory at the time. Through this analysis, I hope this paper achieves a better understanding of how
racism and prejudice works throughout time, so that its effects can be hindered in the future. The issue
of anti Irish racism in Britain is not a relic of the past. The Plymouth Herald published an article
reporting some instances of anti ginger related crimes in recent years. Officers revealed that in a crime
recorded on January 13, 2013 a red headed person was assaulted and occasioned actual bodily harm.
The offender was given a caution for the crime investigated by Plymouth Central and Plymstock
Sector. (The Plymouth Evening Herald, 25). All anti ginger and anti Irish crimes in the area would be
difficult to record, however since crimes against this group of people are not classified as hate crimes,
and thus are not reported as such. Not only is violence against the Irish in Britain a modern issue,
scientific studies concluding that the Irish and other minority groups in Britain are racially inferior,
traditionally thought of as an archaic practice during the

Stereotypes Of Dumb Blondes
Blondes do not deserve the reputation society has given them. Contrary to popular belief, the dumb
blonde jokes are nothing but inaccurate and long drawn out. It s no secret that blondes are given a bad
name based on their physical appearance. The media has done a great deal of prolonging this idea into
the brains of millions. Television shows and radio broadcasts are most commonly to blame for much
of these blonde hair stereotypes. These media outlets have especially taken a certain comedic point of
view for portraying the role of blondes in society. People try to define blondes by using derogatory
terms like stupid, moronic, and brainless, but little do they know that hair color has absolutely no
effect on the way a person thinks or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Extensive media sources, as well as literary sources, have been notorious for establishing a certain
stereotype of an individual based on physical appearance. This image centers on ones weight, height,
hair color, and overall physical beauty. It is reported that these particular attributes may affect ones
personal career. No one knows quite why this is the case, but there have been several studies that
involve these works, linking whether there is a direct correlation with these results or if it comes down
to a discriminative nature. Among some of the most interesting studies, are the ones that deal with bias
in the workplace. According to a journal from Labour Economics, Blonde women with no work
experience earn 6% 9% less than their non blonde counterparts (Dechter 2015). The findings show
that blondes can have positive, as well as negative, effects in the workplace. The stronger negative
effect of blonde hair color is commonly apparent in sales (Dechter 2015). This theory has proven to be
true by the sheer presence of customer discrimination, thus showing a lack of blondes in the sales
profession (Dechter 2015). Both negative and positive preferences for blondeness are in line with the
prejudices of the blonde stereotype , which attributes a series of positive and negative characteristics
to young blonde women but not to young blonde men (Dechter 2015). Based on a study in the UK in
2006, scientists analyzed 500 CEOs and discovered that blondes were very underrepresented
compared to men and women with other hair colors (Dickinson 2012). A separate study done in 1996,
concluded that after the subjects displayed headshots in their resume during a job interview, blondes
were greatly undermined (Dickinson 2012). Although all the resumes were identical, the blonde
applicants were rated as less competent

Why The Treatment And Correction Of Prisoners
The treatment and correction of prisoners is one of the focus of many countries around the world,
especially countries within Europe and North America. The way that prisoners with a psychological
illness are treated within the Federal prison system, gives an overall image of how the country looks.
Another reason why treatment and corrections of prisoners is important is due to the immense amount
of public interest on the rehabilitation of prisoners, and is conscious about releasing prisoners back
into society before they can be properly rehabilitated or treated for the psychological illness. Many of
the psychological include but are not limited to are Antisocial Personality Disorder (ASPD), Mentally

Thesis On Psoriasis
Abstract:
Psoriasis is a disease of chronic systemic inflammation that involves not only the skin, but also
internal organs. The frequency of Non alcoholic fatty liver disease was found to be significantly
greater in psoriasis patients with increased risk of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular disease. A large
number of immunes is found in Psoriatic skin and this immune produce chemokine s, cytokine and
inflammatory molecules. The exact role of genetics in psoriasis is still unclear and an overlap between
some psoriasis loci and those identified in other autoimmune or inflammatory diseases has been
reported.

rate of psoriasis, and hip circumference and waist to hip ratio were all associated with a higher risk of
incident psoriasis. 37 The psoriasis that are associated with metabolic syndrome and increase risk of
cardiovascular disease are non alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and chronic plague. . NAFLD is
the hepatic manifestation of metabolic syndrome, with its key component being visceral obesity. 38
The prevalence of NAFLD is 10 24% of the general population worldwide, increasing to 57.5 74% in
obese individuals. The mortality was increased in patients with NAFLD compared with the general
population and in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III) study, the
NAFLD cohort had both increased overall mortality and liver related mortality compared with
individuals without liver disease. 39 While in most patients, NAFLD does not progress beyond simple
steatosis, it may progress to Non Alcoholic Steato Hepatitis (NASH). The prevalence of NASH also
correlates with obesity, with waist to hip ratio and abdominal obesity reported to be predictors of
NASH. Diagnosing patients with NAFLD and identifying those with NASH is challenging, as they are
generally asymptomatic. Clinical presentation and current radiological modalities may not be reliably

Zappos Case Study
V 236 2/12/14
Case 1
Zappos has 10 different commandments that they abide by on the everyday basis. There are two
commandments that stand out in my opinion that would influence the way employees do their work.
Be adventures, creative and open minded. Giving the employees the ability to take risk when doing
their normal day task. For example, the call center workers are promoted to try new things to make the
customers feel delighted and appreciated. Where as some jobs that offer a call center have their
employees on a scripted dialogue, almost making them sound like robots. I think Zappos has faith in
there employment by giving the employees an encouragement to make misstates because they are only
going to learn from them. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Everyone in the whole company goes through this training regardless of what your rank is and what
you do for the company, its mandatory. Then at the end of the four week training process the whole
class is given an offer for $2000 to quit. This whole process of two interviews and training helps
Zappos maintain their culture. The right culture with the right values will always produce the best
organizational performance. I agree 100% with this statement. There are three things that culture
implies; perception, descriptive, and the different backgrounds that individuals have, which are the
shared aspect of culture. The perception defines what the employees experience in the work place and
how they are treated. If the employees are treated fair and are encouraged to reach new heights with
no fear of making a mistake, then in my opinion they would actually try harder. The descriptive
implies how the employees feel about the culture of the company, not if they agree with it or not. So if
companies have a welcoming environment more people will be intrigued to work for a company with
strong cultural values. Getting together the right people for the culture that you want your company to
retain is critical. Having the employees in a state of mind where they are comfortable to express
themselves while meeting there goals would make any business perform at its best. Other companies
could learn a lot from Tony Hsieh

Rise Of The Robots Analysis
Essay 3: Rise of the Robots
In Mr. Martin Ford s Rise of the Robots, the author argues that the economic future is in danger due to
technology overtaking the workforce. As technology becomes smarter, they have taken over the jobs
that humans have previously done. However, it is not just simple tasks, but intricate tasks that require
multiple steps, such as brain surgery. Mr. Ford presents a valid argument of that at the rate that
technology is progressing, it will probably only be a few decades before robotics overtake the
workforce. Mr. Ford s main argument is that coming technology will have a profound impact on our
economics. Even today, we have automated robots doing tasks that, formally, humans couldn t
preform with such accuracy, such as self driving cars and even surgeries. Robots are able to assemble
other robots via the assembly lines. Increasingly, technology is advancing faster than humans in
discovering ways to complete tasks. Technology is becoming exponentially better at writing its own
programing, raising the question why could they not overtake all jobs currently performed by humans.
Surgery is a major example of how robots have surpassed the human capabilities, being able to
complete the procedure with minimal invasiveness. It is already unique enough for a robot to assemble
a washing machine, per say, but now they are able to perform tasks that humans cannot even
complete. More sophisticated robots are referred to as artificial

A Viable Fetus
Miriam Webster Medical Dictionary defines a viable fetus is capable of living outside the human
uterus, weighing 500 grams or more, and the pregnancy is of 20 weeks in gestation. Not all
pregnancies go as planned as more infants are born before full term, and sometimes between 22 24
weeks of gestation. These infants are at the verge of viability and sometimes resuscitation can lead to
morbidity or mortality.
Whether health care providers resuscitate or not is an ethical dilemma which all health care providers
and family members have to struggle with when it comes to the premature baby as small as the viable
fetus. Although recommendations have been made by organizations including the American Academy
of Pediatrics and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the decision to resuscitate is complex, requiring
careful consideration of multiple factors related to each individual case (Powell, et al., 2012) If the
infant survives after being resuscitated it may have long term heath issues which can be costly for the
family, but some viable fetuses can survive without any negative consequences and live a healthy life.
The question asked is Should an extremely premature baby be saved?
Historical Perspective

do in treating and taking care of the extremely premature babies. Oxygen was introduced in the 1930s

Strategies In The Cold War
The Cold War began in the years 1945 1950 between the countries of the United States and the Soviet
Union. In the Cold War consisted of many different strategies that were used to intimidate or scare the
opponent. A few of these strategies consisted of using fear, the Arms Race, and the use of Financial
Aid. This was a war fought without using harmful machinery weapons.
In the Cold War fear was a big strategy that was used to scare the other country that they are battling.
In an excerpt from the Secretary of State Marshals speech it is trying to get you to fear the outcome of
poverty. In Europe it was going to be very common to lose your job, lose your home, or even begin to
starve to death. This began to scare people which is just what they want to do so that people will feel
bad and jump in to help. In the North American Treaty it is said that armed forces will be used if it is
completely necessary. If we feel threatened or as if there is no other reasonable choice we will return
the harmful threats right back to the U.S.S.R and try to make our point see more stiff and threatening

Similarities Between Lance Armstrong And Macbeth
Lance Armstrong and Macbeth have many similarities through the urge for ambition in their lives.
Armstrong and Macbeth both lost fans/friends throughout their journeys in life. Armstrong s use of
drugs made people respect him a lot less and not like him. Macbeth s harmful ruling made everyone
not like him and want him dead. These equate because each were not liked by others and lost
important figures in their lives that lead to their downfall. Additionally, Armstrong and Macbeth both
used their power beyond control in a way that harmed themselves and or others. Macbeth killed many
people for him to remain in control of power. More than half the deaths he caused were people who

Another connection between Lance and Armstrong is that greed was their tragic flaw. Macbeth and his
wife were very greedy and weren t satisfied with the power they held. And they weren t going to stop
until they ruled the whole kingdom. Him and his wife would go to any measure to do so. Armstrong
had the desire to be the best in cycling, even if that meant cheating. He sued, bullied, and killed
careers of innocent people. Not knowing all those people were just telling the truth. It s sad to see on
the greatest American success stories to all be a lie. Everything was taken away from Armstrong;
money, sponsors, supporters, and respect. Macbeth s tragic downfall ended in death. Both characters
had a spiraling downfall and this is why cheaters and liars never win.
There are also many differences between Macbeth and Armstrong that play as a role in their way to
the top. One being Armstrong admitted to his actions and did an interview explaining why he chose to
do so. Armstrong explains that without having cancer he would ve never have won the Tour de France
he also said if he were to redo it, he wouldn t have changed a thing. Macbeth on the other hand hid the

Citizen engagement fosters effective leadership by bringing the community stakeholders and policy
makers together to engage in dialogue surrounding public issues (Nabatchi, pg. 1). Within this

suggest that citizen engagement is a powerful tool that that enables the have not citizens not currently

Principles to adopt in my leadership style.
The thoughts projected and targets created must be free from corruption. Leadership and management
works best when resources and opportunities are not channeled to the direction of a select few
individuals for the purpose of gaining undue favor in comparison to the rest. The balance of leadership
is in giving back to the society, a mindset that tunes leadership as a chance of making for oneself is
often misconstrued. Leadership is a responsibility that affects society at large in terms of development,
quality of life and future aspirations. That being said, I would ensure that as a executive, I would
refrain from all corrupt dealings that would increase chances of failure for my company. This meaning
the organization and my leadership skills must be transparent in regards to the operations.
Recruitment, audit, planning and research teams must be transparent to avoid the fatalities that may

These types of meeting people love to attend. The company even went out of their way for the
employees as well they gave out money and a plaque for the employee of the quarter at Christmas

So allow me to give you some more examples of the benefits to the company increasing their
retention. Some companies sponsors an all paid vacation to an exotic location, usually to mark the
employee s five year anniversary with the company. When companies do things like that you give
your employees a reason to want to stay with the company for those many years so that is one way to
retain your employees. Another way to retain employees is allowing sabbaticals for higher education
after certain tenure with the company. The employee s vacation benefits can take the form of annual
holiday to recharge the batteries of life, and company trips to increase teamwork and bonding
coworkers. I have learned that it is easier to retain employees by just being honest with them at all
times. An employee will be more likely to stay if they know they can depend on you to tell the truth
and have their back when needed. You will soon found out that if your treating the employees right
and like family that s the type of results you will receive and your business will be

Body. Alcohol Is Surprisingly The Largest Consumed Drug
Body Alcohol is surprisingly the largest consumed drug when it comes to the United States, and with
that comes a higher addiction rate than those drugs deemed illegal such as heroin or even marijuana
still (Thio, Taylor, Schwartz, 2013). Due to this epidemic that is rarely discussed in the same
categorization of illegal substances, there is a bit of a justification seen that alcohol use is not as
severe. Yet data shows that is not the case, because alcohol abuse leads in terms of arrests and related
deaths (Schmalleger, 2013). In 2008, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration estimated
that alcohol caused 11,773 traffic fatalities in one year alone (Schmalleger, 2013). Alcohol also leads

The National Survey on Drug Use and Health or (NSDUH), is an annual publication funded by the
Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration or (SAMHSA) provides further
data (Schmalleger, 2013). The (NSDUH) found that there are an estimated 22.6 million Americans
who are current users aged twelve and older (Schmalleger, 2013). Of those 22.6 million Americans,
17.5 million of them were estimated to be using marijuana, and data shows the rates for those most
likely to consume drugs to be between the ages of sixteen to twenty five in 2010 (Schmalleger, 2013).
Another statistic, this time from the class text found that nine percent of the U.S population age 12 or
older use illicit drugs every year, half of them at least once a month. (Thio et al., 2013). The class text
also corroborates this data, citing that of young adults those aged eighteen to twenty five have the
highest rates, for teenagers the rates highest for use are twelve to seventeen (Thio et al., 2013). One
study found that employment status is highly correlated with rates of illicit drug use as well. One
figure showed that an estimated seventeen percent and a half percent of those unemployed were
current illicit drug users (Schmalleger, 2013). Worrying figures due to the gravity of the situation

Dust Bowl California Oral History
Images of Great Depression migrants often depict white families, impoverished farmers whose crops
have been destroyed by dust storms, and people who have no choice but to escape to California in
search of job opportunities (Shindo, 26). The oral history interview of Vera Jones Bailey about her
experiences growing up in Kansas and Missouri and her move to California during the Great

Netflix Adoption Paper
Netflix is an organization that was founded in 1997, by Reed Hastings. Having successfully launched
a new Internet service and brand, the vision of Netflix was to offer both personalized and standard
content through broadband or physical medium, and to evolve from movies to music and then to
syndicate text content. This strategy leveraged the value proposition of convenience and selection with
the natural extension from film to music and then books as entertainment. In 2005, Netflix entered
into an agreement with several big corporations such as the Wal Mart Company which, has allowed
them to expand and to penetrate the international market as well. Netflix markets it services through

what Amazon developed. Mail order catalog systems would be difficult for movies, but using the

Likewise, customization and personalization allowed Netflix users to save lists of preferred movies.
As they became available, those films were delivered based on priority. Also, creating partnerships

movies at market cost would tie up both cash and inventory. Alliances with movie studios would give
them a share of profits and equity, and a new distribution channel for film content throughout the

Sherlock Holmes V. Sherlock. There Always Seems To Be A
Sherlock Holmes v. Sherlock
There always seems to be a debate on which portrayal of Sherlock Holmes is better.; the movie with
Robert Downey Jr. or the show with Benedict Cumberbatch? The movie and show are based on
Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle but are different in aspects such as actor portrayals,
levels of complexity, and main character deaths. These aspects make the show better than the movie.
Both shows have relatively the same characters, but the portrayals vary greatly. In the movie, Robert
Downey Jr. portrayal of Sherlock was very bland. Sherlock found little to no satisfaction in being a
high functioning sociopath with amazing deductive skills. There was no connection with anybody in
the movie; he felt nothing for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Watson takes care of and tries to keep Sherlock out of trouble, but is almost always ready to go on a
case and join in on the troublesome game. He balances Sherlock s sociopath tendencies but brings his
own wonder to the show. Watson makes sure he is heard and is the voice of reason.
Additionally, Andrew Scott as Moriarty is perfect. He has the psychopathic behavior and is very
conniving and mysterious. Scott makes him unnerving because you know he is a master criminal and
will not hesitate to kill people. Yet he still keeps the character relatable. Scott makes Moriarty a
serious psychotic man but brings slight comedy to the part by not being serious.
The show is better than the movie because the character portrayals are much better because they are
more relatable and overall intriguing. The development of the characters is detailed but leaves enough
out to keep it clouded with mystery. On top of a better portrayal of characters, the show has a better
level of complexity.
In the movie, the Moriarty case was complex and difficult to follow. The case was difficult because
Sherlock is going against someone on his intelligence level, so the audience struggles to keep up.
Also, having a backstory with the gypsy that helped throughout the movie added to the plot but was
more of a distraction. The ending was not that complex though. The impending murder kept you
guessing, but not the death of Moriarty.

Essay on The Four Main Stages of Business
A growing business will cycle through four major stages in its development. Evolving from a one
person operation to a multi department company has its challenges and rewards. In this paper, it will
be described how each of the four stages a business may pass through will affect it. The four stages of
a business life are as follow. In stage one, the business is being created and is operated often with only
one person. Stage two, organization growth, structure and employee management can be observed.
Stage three, owner s delegation of certain powers takes place. Finally, stage four, being the creation of
a more structured business, which entails the creation of policies and procedures.
In the first phase of the creation of the business, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As the business grows, the owner s focus will have to change from overseeing the day to day
operations to focusing on getting investors and funding and potentially developing new products or
services. As I said earlier, since the proprietor will have staff, he/she will need experienced manager to
help them focus on the core operations of the business as said by William Weirsema: The founder
should realize that he or she can t possibly be the best in the company at everything from marketing to
finances. Functions that can t justify a full time expert should be outsourced to professionals that
specialize. Possibilities include information systems, accounting, human resources, marketing, and
engineering. Hiring a chief operating officer is usually advisable. (1999). Hiring qualified staff and
manager will help the business become more successful.
The fourth stage of business happens when the business has almost reached its full expansion. It is the
stage where the owner has to make decisions on policies, code of conduct for personnel, job
descriptions as well as internal control policies just to name a few. It is also the stage where the owner
will have to decide what type of departmentation they want their organization to use. Whether it is by
project, by function or by matrix this will help the business being more efficient. Also, the founder
will have to decide whether its business should be centralized or

Egypt Expulsion Of The Hyksos
The Egyptians eventually dealt with the Hyksos through a campaign of attacks that displaced them
from Egypt. Seqenenre Tao II is originally thought to have commenced the Egyptian s battle for

Nefrusi and Avaris. However, Ahmose I completed the expulsion of the Hyksos through his likely use
of Hyksos weaponry to subjugate Avaris and Sharuhen. Thus, the Hyksos were displaced from Egypt
through a series of attacks.
Seqenenre Tao II is believed to have initiated the campaign to expel the Hyksos. This is due to
Seqenenre s believed quarrel with the Hyksos king Apophis. However, this altercation is unsure to be
historically accurate and is discontinuously attested on the Papyrus Sallier I. The account asserts that

rivals. Thus, Ahmose I completed the expulsion of the Hyksos through his likely adoption of Hyksos

The Importance Of The Post Office
The United States Post Office was established by the Second Continental Congress in 1775. The Post
Office has been part of American society for almost two centuries and through the years it has been
changing with America. It was an important method for people to communicate in the past, however,
is it relevant in today s society? The issue of eliminating or keeping the Post Office resulted in a
controversy among the United States. The Post Office should be eliminated due to the debt the post
office is facing each year, more usage of technology, and slow modifications.
Article 1 of the U.S. Constitution offers the Congress its powers and limits. According to Article I,
Section 8, Clause 7 of the United States Constitution, which is known as the Postal Clause, empowers
Congress To establish Post Offices and post Roads. The Postal Clause has been interpreted to provide
Congress the authority to appoint post offices and mail routes. Therefore, Congress has the power to

The first issue the Post Office has been struggling with is accumulated debt. For the past ten years, the
United States Postal Service documented annual losses around $15 billion. (usatoday) Furthermore, in
2012 the Post Office was unable to pay out their retiree health benefits of $11 billion. In 2013, the Post

Aidan received a standard score of 71, which falls into the mild developmental delay range. This

and perception and concepts. In the attention and memory subdomain, the child is assessed in their
ability to recognize and attend to various situations around them, and their ability to remember certain
information. In this domain, Aidan received a standard score of 3, which falls into the delayed range,
and is consistent to the developmental age of a one year, nine month child. One of Aidan s strengths in
this area was that he is showed his ability to pay attention during a certain activity for up to three
minutes. He was also able to find an object that was under one of of the two cups being used. One
thing Aidan is still working on is reciting words from a movie or from a book when asked. One other
activity that Aidan did not yet master was pointing to the one hand that had a toy in it. In the second
subdomain, reasoning and academic skills, Aidan received a score of 8, which is in the average range.
This is consistent to the developmental age of 2 years and 6 months. One of Aidan s strengths in this
area was his ability to match similar colors together. Another one of his strengths was that he was able
to stack nesting blocks on top of one another according to their size. Two things Aidan is still working
on is naming his colors and identifying and grouping common objects. The third and last subdomain is
perception and concepts. Aidan received a standard score of 3 in this subdomain, which falls under the
delayed range. This also states that his developmental age is at 2 years and 2 months. Aidan showed
his strengths of matching the same shapes together, building puzzles, and identifying objects that were
familiar to him.

Owning a home:
Many of the older adults want to stay in the homes where they have lived for many years. For others,

way the film presents the issues to its audience that makes the difference. Euzhan Palcy left a lot out
of the movie partially because some things are impossible to carry over into a film, such as Ben s
internal monologue and the descriptive imagery present in the novel and partially because she had a
different focus and motive in making the film. As a result of this, she not only omits those things
which are unique to a novel, but also omits some very important characters, important character
development, character s actions, and even goes as far as to insert some actions that were not present

The Reproduction of Inequality
Definitions In relation to the topic, MacLeod explains social reproduction as the theory that explains
how societal institutions perpetuate or reproduce the social relationships and attitudes needed to
sustain the existing relations of production in a capitalist society. (MacLeod 9) In this definition, the
societal institutions are places like, government offices, and schools. These institutions according to
him help continue to maintain the status quo by preserving the existing barriers between classes. To
investigate this there are two main ways to analyze the situation, one can use the advocate

The final form of capital referenced is the cultural kind. This primarily deals with, from the section
entitled Cultural Capital and Habitus: Bourdieu s Theory of Reproduction, the general cultural

(MacLeod 12) One term related to this premise is habitus, in the same article, Macleod referenced
Bourdieu in relation to this topic. Bourdieu s habitus is composed of the attitudes, beliefs, and
experiences of those inhabiting one s social world (MacLeod 13) and this combination results in
profoundly internalized beliefs and values that influence an individuals reactions toward various
aspects of life, most notable in this situation, education. What is most notable about this is how the
educational system reacts to these ideas of capital. In the article, Bourdieu comments, among all the

The Rise of Mass Democracy
I. The Corrupt Bargain of 1824
i. After the Era of Good Feelings, politics was transformed. The big winner of this transformation was
the common man. Specifically, the common white man as universal white manhood suffrage (all white
men could vote) became the norm. ii. In the election of 1824, there were four towering candidates:
Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, Henry
Clay of Kentucky, William H. Crawford of Georgia, and John Q. Adams of Massachusetts.
1. All four called themselves Republicans.
2. Three were a favorite son of their respective region but Clay thought of himself as a national figure
(he was Speaker of the House and author of the American System ). iii. In the results, Jackson got the
most popular votes and the most electoral votes, but he failed to get the majority in the Electoral
College. Adams came in second in both, while Crawford was fourth in the popular vote but third in the
electoral votes. Clay was 4th in the electoral vote. iv. By the 12th Amendment, the top three electoral
vote getters would be voted upon in the House of
Reps. and the majority (over 50%) would be elected president.
v. Clay was eliminated, but he was the Speaker of the House, and since Crawford had recently
suffered a paralytic stroke and Clay hated Jackson, he threw his support behind John Q. Adams,
helping him become president.

Anna Maria Island One evening in April, we headed to Bishop airport in flint,to fly to Tampa, Florida.
When we were at the airport I was so anxious. This was going to be my 5th time flying, so it wasn t
that new to me. Our plane arrived at the airport at 8:00 pm and we were boarding at 8:30 pm. The
plane ride took about 2 hours and 30 minutes. We finally arrived in Tampa, Florida. My grandma and
grandpa picked us up and we hit the road for about another hour. My aunt, uncle, and my two cousins
were meeting us at the house we rented on Anna Maria Island. We crossed a huge bridge that took us
to Anna Maria Island. We arrived at the house at midnight. The house had 4 rooms, 3 ½ baths, a big
swimming pool with a hot tub, and was right by the ocean. My aunt, uncle, and my two cousins were
unpacking all the food when we arrived. My sister and I went straight up to our room, there were two
twin sized beds, and a closet. We unloaded and went to bed at 1 in the morning. The next day
everyone woke up around the same time, my mom searched up the weather up, it was going to be a
hot one, we knew it was going to be a beach day. We packed snacks, put our bathing suits on, and
walked to the beach. Right away my cousins and I went to find shells, starfish, and sand dollars, I
found a lot of shells, sand dollars, and my goal was to find a starfish, and I did. My mom called us
over to eat our lunch, well we were eating our sandwiches on the beach, there were seagulls swooping
down to get

Earthquake In Haiti
REPORT: UNDERDEVELOPED COUNTRY
In 2010 the country of Haiti experienced a 7.0 magnitude earthquake and many lives were lost and
buildings are slowly being rebuilt today. Through the years after this disaster, many countries from
around the world have come to its aid in rebuilding.
Most of Haiti s farmers work subsistence plots of land that produce small amounts of cash crops. Soil
erosion and overburdened land are major agricultural complications, at the same time hurricanes and
drought have also taken their toll.
Coffee, sugarcane, sisal, and fruit are the dominant commercial crops, while beans, rice, corn, and
sorghum are the main food crops. Coffee is the dominant export. Sugarcane, cotton, sisal, coconuts,
and vetiver are raised on plantations

A Position Of Influence On The American Prison System
Project Summary: The United States incarcerates approximately 2.3 million prisoners as of 2016,
much greater than any other country. Though this large prison population exists, the crime rate is
similar to other, similarly developed, countries. This problem can be, if not solved, significantly
alleviated by implementing, as much as possible, the types of policy present in the German prison
system, and others like it. This project would recommend solutions to those in a position of influence
in the American prison system, a way to efficiently implement German, and other similar countries,
prison policy and principles in a manner that is applicable to already existing American prisons. I
estimate that I would need approximately three weeks to research further into this problem and its
solutions, and to write the recommendation report proposed here.
INTRODUCTION
The United States is spending close to $80 billion a year on prisons and rehabilitation programs, a lot
of which is going to waste as shown by the 50% recidivism rate. This proposal will demonstrate the
need for a restructuring of the prison system, the sources available for inspiration to help solve this
problem, and the need for the recommendation report proposed here.
The United States has about 5% of the world s population yet it accounts for about 25% of the world s
prisoners (Deady 2014). From the tough on crime mentality of the last few decades, our prison system
has bloated and become focused on punishment

NSA Spying
NSA Spying What is Metadata and What Does the Law Say? Technology is in everything we do from
using our home refrigerator, washer, cellular device, automobile, and or computer systems. When
using certain devices you pass information to others pertaining to personal and private information.
This information or metadata could be a bank account or credit card number, pin, and or password that
we unconsciously share. We randomly give away this information at a dentist or doctor s office, the
local liquor store, or when we visit social media sites like Instagram, Facebook, Yahoo, and or Google.
This information is all collected, stored, and tracked by big brother, and what are they doing with it, is
the metadata being secured, American s may never know. Disturbingly the National Security Agency
(NSA) has been collecting metadata on Americans personal telephones and electronics devices for
several years. This collection was happening before the NSAAnalyst Edward Snowden leaked these
facts to the world in late 2013. The NSA was formed in the 1950 s, and during this time frame the
NSA disseminated intelligence information from electronic signals for foreign and counter intelligence
purposes, which supported the American military needs. Currently the NSA has refocused their spying
tactics to technology driven devices. The NSA has an extensive telephone metadata program, since
2001, and they collect phone records of virtually all Americans (Lizza, 2013). Email and Social

Persuasive Essay On How To Stop Bullying
Bullies can be found in every school. However, they can be hard to spot. That is why teachers and
students should always be on the lookout for bullying, and not hesitate to stop it if they discover a
bully. In this situation, Martha is being teased by people that seem to be her friends. What is said
doesn t seem to be teasing, though. The jokes hit too close to home and are extremely hurtful.
However, we are not positive this is a case of bullying. If I were one of the bystanders in this type of
situation, I would try to stop the bullying, because the teasing could get worse as time goes on, Martha
might not be able to stop the bullies on her own, and I would want someone to help me if I was being
bullied. The first reason I would try to stop Martha s bullies is because the teasing could get worse as
time passes. The comments are already hurtful, but they could become something even more serious if
no one intervenes. For example, when you first get clothes, they are not usually very comfortable,
because they re tight and haven t been worn. But the more you wear them, the more comfortable they
get, and eventually you ve worn them so much you need new clothes. This could be the case with
Martha s bullying. The more the girls bully Martha, the more comfortable they get with teasing her.
Eventually, they ll buy new clothes , which represents them adopting a harsher form of bullying. Then,
the process will start all over again, and the bullying will get worse and worse.

Summary Of Snapping Beans By Lisa Parker
No matter how far away from family you are, you will always be connected to your roots. In Snapping
Beans by Lisa Parker, Parker uses an important symbol that resonates throughout the poem. The
hickory leaf, which symbolizes the granddaughter, is the most important symbol in the poem. The
granddaughter is the first child to go off to college and learn from the books rather than learn from
culture like her grandmother. During her conversation with her grandmother concerning school, there
is a wave of emotions flowing through the granddaughter s mind. The response at the end of the poem
that the grandma gives, It s funny how things blow loose like that is significant to the symbolism of
the granddaughter. In the poem, the leaf is being blown

s Jews (Haaretz). The Holocaust started Jan 30, 1933 and ended May 8, 1945. Hitler was the leader of
Germany, he hated Jewish people and blamed them for everything. Hitler is the reason why 6 million
Jewish people were murdered. In the Holocaust, the Jewish people did not give up easily, they formed
two types of resistance to fight or survive the Holocaust. During the Holocaust, there was various acts
of Jewish resistance both armed and unarmed in order to preserve honor and faith.
One of the Jewish resistance is unarmed spiritual resistance. The Jewish people were not allowed to
practice their religion. An article states, The Germans forbade religious services in Ghettos ( Spiritual

another resistance is called Jewish armed resistance.
The Jewish armed resistance used weapons to fight back and plan to fight for freedom. The Jewish
resistance wanted to fight back the Nazis for doing horrible acts against the Jewish people. A book

differences ? Use bullet points or a short paragraph.
Client Server architectural style to 3 Tier architectural style:
The client server model refers to the Network Architecture where one or more computers are

The BL is running on a separate server, called the business logic tier, middle tier, or service tier.
Finally the DB is running on its own database server. Differences: Client Server: cost (servers and
software can be expensive) server operating systems (a server and software work together; server
software is expensive; servers also add to the costs) implementation (sharing resources; network
cabling; servers kept in a secure room; central file management, central security administration; user
management and permissions, backup management) security and safety techniques to protect the
network from virus attacks, new products, and the use of new technologies (i.e., wireless connections).
Client server networks work best for larger setups, such as a full scale office or school network
especially if the networks are likely to grow in size.
3 Tier Architecture: A 3 Tier usually puts something between the presentation and data store tire such
as a business logic tier.
3 Tier has a Middle part of stage to communicate with client to server, Where as in 2 Tier client
directly get communication to server. you can put this into 3 tiers depending on how much amount of
money you have for hardware and how amount load you expect.
3 Tier is straight means in that demand stream on Client Middle Layer Database server and Response.
3 Tier is similar to a MVC But having contrast sorts in topologies.

The Star Wars Franchise Can Best Be Described As Mixed
At this stage, my relationship status with the Star Wars franchise can best be described as mixed.
There have been bumps in the road, but overall, I have had a lifelong appreciation, some might say
obsession, with Star Wars episodes 4 6 especially; so much so that as a youth:
I read the novelization of Star Wars an innumerable amount of times (don t ask me to recall anything);
as well taking multiple trips to the library to read articles and companion books about the Star Wars
universe. Big deal you might say, but I will admit, even now, to not being the most voracious of
readers so this was in fact quite a feat of accomplishment for me. Founded my own Star Wars fan club
at my elementary school granted there were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I digress.
All of this to say Star Wars was a major part of my life. And in many ways, I can credit these three
films being one part of what got me so passionate about movies. In fact, I give them a lot of credit.
Even as I got older and my cinematic tastes broadened and came to include multiple genres, there
were still moments of fond recollection as I recalled these films. During my college years, I paid
service to this mindset going to the re release of at least one film (I think it was The Empire Strikes
Back). If my roommate is reading this, I hope she will confirm which one(s) me might have seen in
Charlottesville.
So, you can imagine my excitement at the very mention of prequels (Episodes 1 3) ...

set).

Needless to say, it did feel like a part of my childhood had been decimated by a world weary, adult
level of cynicism. It followed that seeing these films felt more like an obligation than an event one
meets great anticipation. I feared, maybe the magic was gone forever.
Years of dormancy followed, filled with the continued excitement of simply going to the movies,
attending film festivals and just the business of getting on with one s adult life.
So when (again) there was a major Star Wars announcement that we would be

Psychology Of Religion
Ludwig Feuerbach and Sigmund Freud were similar in that both were reductionists who saw God as
somewhat of a false projection of the human mind, so both offer a psychology of religion, but that is
also the ending of their similarities. Feuerbach, for example, saw religion as the consciousness of God
being merely the projection of self consciousness; as Feuerbach puts it, Such as are a man s thought
and dispositions, such is his God (Feuerbach, p.139). And Feuerbach found that studying religion was
beneficial to understanding humankind and did not need to be destroyed or dismantled, which is why
he proposed the idea that Theology is Anthropology (Feuerbach, p.141). Freud, on the other hand, saw
religion as a form of neurosis stemming from ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
138). Self consciousness to God consciousness is an idea in which one projects their values and ideals
onto the created deity in order to give oneself a moral guideline to live up to, theoretically. And while
in most religions it may not be the individual s moral ideals, but those adopted from the religion they
are surrounded by or have chosen to ascribe themselves, the same general idea would still apply as it
would be the collective projecting of the self consciousness into God consciousness. While Feuerbach
does not necessarily see a benefit to following any religions and believing in any god or gods, he does
not decide to call for there to be an end to such deities or religions, as he does not see any harm
stemming from the belief in them; rather, he believes that religious gods give a way of studying the
people that worship them. The idea of studying a religion to understand the people that follow or
believe said religion is a concept that Feuerbach coined as Theology is anthropology (Feuerbach, p.
141). This idea is exactly what one would expect it to be, as the study of the religion or the god(s) of
the religion is really the study of the believers of that religion. Similarly one can study the Greek, the
Roman, or any other pagan god in order to

America Is A Great Nation
As a native born American citizen, I am blessed. Blessed with freedom of speech, with freedom of
religion, and with the ability to pursue happiness. Because of this American privilege, I am grateful,
but I am ignorant. America is a great nation, but because we cannot fully comprehend what it may be
like to be born without privilege, we have become selfish. If it is beneficial, America severely
chastises and punishes any for the commitment of atrocities against ourselves and others, but when not
directly affected, America ignores atrocities committed in other countries, even when committed by
us. Joseph Stalin once said, When one man dies, that s a tragedy. When thousands die, it s a statistic.
Large numbers in this regard can provide a strange sense of comfort because numbers don t feel like
people. With numbers, comes distance. To truly understand the severity of any situation, we must take
in account the statistics and numbers. But we cannot forget what is precious. On September 11th,
2001, a horrific act of terror struck our nation to the core. Fear, devastating and humbling, lodged into
our blessed lives. Over 2,800 American civilians were murdered in cold blood when two planes were
hijacked and flown directly into the twin towers (Anderson 3). This atrocious event caused the entire
country to mourn for its loss, and as American citizens, it is impossible to ignore the destruction of
such an event. In such dreadful times, it is difficult to comprehend the magnitude of

  • 2. The Analytical Method Of Marx And Engels Firestone uses the analytical method of Marx and Engels to create a theoretical frame which includes issues of oppression based on sex. I found her distinction between what Marx and Engels specifically say about women and the family model and her theory of a greater understanding of how gender works dialectically and materially very helpful. I also connected with her assertion that issues of gender seem to pervade every part of social life and that many women give up in despair... because of how deep the issues go (Firestone 90). I think this statement is often true because accepting that patriarchy exists in such a multifaceted way can be overwhelming and disheartening. Moreover, I also appreciated the idea that [b]efore we can act to change a situation, however, we must know how it has arisen and evolved, and through what institutions it now operates (Firestone 90). This seems like an important way to bridge the gap between theory and activism. I think it is important for activists to consider the assumptions they are working under before they take action. Although I think a lack of action is a legitimate criticism of modern feminism, we still need to know what we are fighting for. I also found Firestone s point that ...so profound a change cannot be easily fit into traditional categories of thought to be both profound and indicative of her own assumptions as a theorist (Firestone 91). Just as Marx provided a limited but beautiful piece of theoretical work, so does ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Oresteia Essay The Oresteia In the trilogy Oresteia, the issues concerned are the transformation from vengeance to law, from chaos to peace, from dependence to independence, and from old to new. These four significant changes all take place throughout the play and are somewhat parallel to the transformations that were going on in Ancient Greece. In Aeschylus trilogy, the Greeks justice system went through a transformation from old to new ways. In the beginning of the trilogy, the characters settle their matters, both personal and professional, with vengeance. Vengeance is when someone is harmed or killed, and either the victim, or someone close to them takes revenge on the criminal. This matter is proven in the trilogy numerous times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another way that transformation is shown in the trilogy is the way that it goes from chaos to harmony. In the beginning of the story, everything is hectic and does not settle down until the very end of the play. Not only is the country of Greece in turmoil because of the civil war, but also the family of King Agamemnon is full of chaos and disorder. Although in the beginning it looks like the chaos will not settle down, by the end, there is peace. Because in the end, Orestes is set free and acquitted of the crime, the reader is left with a feeling of calmness. Everything is settled and there is a sense of harmony, both in the city of Athens and in within the characters. The third transformation also takes place in the Oresteia. This transformation is from dependence to independence. When the play begins, the characters rely greatly on the gods to direct their lives and tell them what they should do. They depend on the gods to explain everything that happens as well. It is near the end when the transformation takes place and they begin to solve their problems on their own and do not need the gods to settle their disputes. This is especially evident when they have a trial for Orestes with a jury to decide his fate, not a god. The Greeks are moving away from the gods and myth as well. They are becoming more independent and are beginning to rely more on science and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Industrial Psychology How Leadership Styles Affect Productivity By E. Brown There are 4 primary leadership styles, many of which you can find within most businesses or organizations around the world. These styles are: Dictatorial, Authoritative, Consultative, and Participative. Each of the leadership styles have impact on reforming and/or creating company culture. There are short and long term affects of each style. For instance, the authoritative style may produce great results in a short amount of time. However, excessive use of authority will decrease productivity in the long term. People either get fed up and leave or fall into a malaise of hum drum repetitive tasks without creativity and innovation. All the while, a participative style will be unproductive ... Somebody is going to dictate a new policy or procedure. While you cant control the outside influence you can control your units interpretation of it. Minor changes are fairly simply. Introduce the new policy or procedure, provide your employees with as much background on why the change is necessary, train them and then follow up with praise or sanction. Larger or dramatic changes are more difficult. As with smaller changes to the norm, you must first seek clarity. Find out as much as you can why the change is necessary. Make sure you know as much as possible. I am always honest with my people. When I dont like something or think a change is going to be difficult I admit it. As a follower, I have sat through too many gratuitous roll calls where the sergeant or lieutenant is giving us happy talk. I recommend you say something like, I dont like this anymore than you do. But, this is how we are going to do it. This admission is actually an emphasis of the norm of obedience to orders and the value of you place on it. After you have made this admission, adopt the new norm and place the appropriate value on it. Dont undermine yourself or your organization by rolling your eyes or somehow expressing that you dont believe the new change should be implemented. As with the minor change, ... Understanding Digital Imaging Digital Imaging Understanding Digital Imaging What is Digital Images DIGITAL IMAGES are electronic snapshots taken of a scene or scanned from documents, such as photographs, manuscripts, printed texts, and artwork. The digital image is sampled and mapped as a grid of dots or picture elements (pixels). Each pixel is assigned a total value (black, white, shades of gray or color), which is represented in binary code (zeros and ones). The binary digits ( bits ) for each pixel are stored in a sequence by a computer and often reduced to a mathematical analog version for display or printing. http://preservationtutorial.library.cornell.edu/intro/intro 01.html At Amazon ... The Vectors form a wireframe, which is covered with surface texture and color to create a graphic of a 3 D object that is called rendering. • 6. The Old World Position On The Creation Of Everything The Old World position on the creation of everything is backed by the most evidence, both biblically and scientifically, when compared to the other positions of theism and New World creationism. This is due to the fact that the other two positions end up ignoring or denying points of significant proofs that their counterparts present. However, the Old Earth position accepts and explains parts of the other creationism viewpoints. It does not deny the possibility of evolution, or Genesis 1 2, saying that they do not contradict each other and both can exist at the same time. It also takes some of its own belief from others, explaining that the Earth is billions of years old. This is further compounded upon with the explanation of the six days of creation is not taken literally, rather that they each are an extended period of time. All of this leads to the defense of the Bible not being a historical timeline, but it being a guidebook to understanding God and everything that he does. This also justifies the scientific outlook on the creation story. Like how humanity is always discovering new substances and species, information on the origin of the universe is yet to be found. When compared to the other viewpoints of creationism, the Old World position has the most evidence. New World and theistic approaches to the origin story have their own pros and cons, but they both have glaring weaknesses. They both ignore and deny the existence of evidence from the other viewpoints. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Examples Of Peaceful Resistance AI believe that peaceful resistance to laws positively impacts a free society because it allows people to say how they feel, and they do not have to go to extreme measures to feel like they are being heard. A lot of violence that goes on in other countries occurs because the people just want to be heard by their government and want to have a say. Peaceful resistance has been around since before Mahatma Gandhi s time, however he strongly believed in it. By the people being allowed to peacefully resist government programs or decisions, the people still feel like they have a say in how the country is run like it was many years ago. Peaceful resistance all shows others that you do not need to be strong or own a weapon to feel heard. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks made a perfect example of how a peaceful resistance does make a difference. Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat at the front of the bus for a white man, so she got arrested. Even though she got arrested for refusing, she showed all the other black people and white people on that bus that she was not afraid to go to jail for what she believed in. She was not afraid to stand up to two white men who ordered her to move to the back of the bus. Rosa Parks was very well known after that day because she used her freedom of speech to say what she wanted and to sit where she wanted to sit. She did not give in and let the two superior white men bully her into moving to the back. In Young Goodman Brown, Nathaniel Hawthorne shows that the Puritans are hypocrites by showing that members of the Puritan community lie about their beliefs. Young Goodman Brown lives with his wife, Faith, who urges him not to travel into the forest, but Young Goodman Brown chooses to ignore Faith s advice and continue into the forest. In the woods, Brown meets with a strange traveler who he later realizes is the devil in disguise and witnesses him speak to Goody Cloyse as if they are friends. Then, he observes a witch meeting in which he is shocked to see Goody Cloyse, Faith, and other Puritans attend. • 10. Racism Against The Irish Racism In this paper, I intend to investigate how racism against the Irish in Britain has changed since the nineteenth century to the modern day, and these causes of the initial prejudices and how they adjusted over time. To accomplish this, I will examine occurrences of anti Irish racism in Britain from a variety of dates, and propose causes of the racist feelings though evidence of popular racist and colonialist theory at the time. Through this analysis, I hope this paper achieves a better understanding of how racism and prejudice works throughout time, so that its effects can be hindered in the future. The issue of anti Irish racism in Britain is not a relic of the past. The Plymouth Herald published an article reporting some instances of anti ginger related crimes in recent years. Officers revealed that in a crime recorded on January 13, 2013 a red headed person was assaulted and occasioned actual bodily harm. The offender was given a caution for the crime investigated by Plymouth Central and Plymstock Sector. (The Plymouth Evening Herald, 25). All anti ginger and anti Irish crimes in the area would be difficult to record, however since crimes against this group of people are not classified as hate crimes, and thus are not reported as such. Not only is violence against the Irish in Britain a modern issue, scientific studies concluding that the Irish and other minority groups in Britain are racially inferior, traditionally thought of as an archaic practice during the ... • 11. Stereotypes Of Dumb Blondes Blondes do not deserve the reputation society has given them. Contrary to popular belief, the dumb blonde jokes are nothing but inaccurate and long drawn out. It s no secret that blondes are given a bad name based on their physical appearance. The media has done a great deal of prolonging this idea into the brains of millions. Television shows and radio broadcasts are most commonly to blame for much of these blonde hair stereotypes. These media outlets have especially taken a certain comedic point of view for portraying the role of blondes in society. People try to define blondes by using derogatory terms like stupid, moronic, and brainless, but little do they know that hair color has absolutely no effect on the way a person thinks or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Extensive media sources, as well as literary sources, have been notorious for establishing a certain stereotype of an individual based on physical appearance. This image centers on ones weight, height, hair color, and overall physical beauty. It is reported that these particular attributes may affect ones personal career. No one knows quite why this is the case, but there have been several studies that involve these works, linking whether there is a direct correlation with these results or if it comes down to a discriminative nature. Among some of the most interesting studies, are the ones that deal with bias in the workplace. According to a journal from Labour Economics, Blonde women with no work experience earn 6% 9% less than their non blonde counterparts (Dechter 2015). The findings show that blondes can have positive, as well as negative, effects in the workplace. The stronger negative effect of blonde hair color is commonly apparent in sales (Dechter 2015). This theory has proven to be true by the sheer presence of customer discrimination, thus showing a lack of blondes in the sales profession (Dechter 2015). Both negative and positive preferences for blondeness are in line with the prejudices of the blonde stereotype , which attributes a series of positive and negative characteristics to young blonde women but not to young blonde men (Dechter 2015). Based on a study in the UK in 2006, scientists analyzed 500 CEOs and discovered that blondes were very underrepresented compared to men and women with other hair colors (Dickinson 2012). A separate study done in 1996, concluded that after the subjects displayed headshots in their resume during a job interview, blondes were greatly undermined (Dickinson 2012). The way that prisoners with a psychological illness are treated within the Federal prison system, gives an overall image of how the country looks. Another reason why treatment and corrections of prisoners is important is due to the immense amount of public interest on the rehabilitation of prisoners, and is conscious about releasing prisoners back into society before they can be properly rehabilitated or treated for the psychological illness. There are two commandments that stand out in my opinion that would influence the way employees do their work. Be adventures, creative and open minded. Giving the employees the ability to take risk when doing their normal day task. For example, the call center workers are promoted to try new things to make the customers feel delighted and appreciated. Where as some jobs that offer a call center have their employees on a scripted dialogue, almost making them sound like robots. Then at the end of the four week training process the whole class is given an offer for $2000 to quit. This whole process of two interviews and training helps Zappos maintain their culture. The right culture with the right values will always produce the best organizational performance. I agree 100% with this statement. There are three things that culture implies; perception, descriptive, and the different backgrounds that individuals have, which are the shared aspect of culture. The perception defines what the employees experience in the work place and how they are treated. If the employees are treated fair and are encouraged to reach new heights with no fear of making a mistake, then in my opinion they would actually try harder. The descriptive implies how the employees feel about the culture of the company, not if they agree with it or not. So if companies have a welcoming environment more people will be intrigued to work for a company with strong cultural values. Getting together the right people for the culture that you want your company to retain is critical. Having the employees in a state of mind where they are comfortable to express themselves while meeting there goals would make any business perform at its best. • 15. Rise Of The Robots Analysis Essay 3: Rise of the Robots In Mr. Martin Ford s Rise of the Robots, the author argues that the economic future is in danger due to technology overtaking the workforce. As technology becomes smarter, they have taken over the jobs that humans have previously done. However, it is not just simple tasks, but intricate tasks that require multiple steps, such as brain surgery. Mr. Ford presents a valid argument of that at the rate that technology is progressing, it will probably only be a few decades before robotics overtake the workforce. Mr. Ford s main argument is that coming technology will have a profound impact on our economics. • 16. A Viable Fetus Miriam Webster Medical Dictionary defines a viable fetus is capable of living outside the human uterus, weighing 500 grams or more, and the pregnancy is of 20 weeks in gestation. Not all pregnancies go as planned as more infants are born before full term, and sometimes between 22 24 weeks of gestation. These infants are at the verge of viability and sometimes resuscitation can lead to morbidity or mortality. Whether health care providers resuscitate or not is an ethical dilemma which all health care providers and family members have to struggle with when it comes to the premature baby as small as the viable fetus. Although recommendations have been made by organizations including the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Nuffield Council on Bioethics, the decision to resuscitate is complex, requiring careful consideration of multiple factors related to each individual case (Powell, et al., 2012) If the infant survives after being resuscitated it may have long term heath issues which can be costly for the family, but some viable fetuses can survive without any negative consequences and live a healthy life. The question asked is Should an extremely premature baby be saved? South Africa as a Result of Apartheid in the Film A Dry White Season Brink reaches for that unexpected potent strand of Afrikaner thought: an almost religious repugnance toward governmental corruption. And by using a very ordinary Afrikaner as victim, Brink proclaims that no one in South Africa is any longer safe (Redman 5). Andre Brink s powerful novel, A Dry White Season, was made into a film directed by Euzhan Palcy about ten years after it was written. Euzhan Palcy did an excellent job directing her film, which was intended to open the world s eyes to the injustices being committed in South Africa as a result of the apartheid, and it is successful in doing so. However, it fails to reach out to the reader, as does Andre ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Gordon s wife, Emily, comes to Ben wanting to have justice be done for what happened to her husband and son, Ben sends her to a lawyer, and helps her in her quest to uncover the truth. More and more is revealed as Ben continues his search with the help of Stanley, an energetic black rebel, and Melanie, a reporter for a British newspaper. However, as Ben probes deeper the Secret Police turn on him and his personal life fall apart before his eyes. Although the ending is very different in the novel than in the film, in both Ben is killed by the Secret Police. Fortunately he has kept record of the information he has uncovered and his story gets told after all as the reports are passed on and published. The basic story line was preserved in the making of the film, as are the main ideas. It is the way the film presents the issues to its audience that makes the difference. Euzhan Palcy left a lot out of the movie partially because some things are impossible to carry over into a film, such as Ben s internal monologue and the descriptive imagery present in the novel and partially because she had a different focus and motive in making the film. As a result of this, she not only omits those things which are unique to a novel, but also omits some very important characters, important character development, character s actions, and even goes as far as to insert some actions that were not present in the novel. ... The Reproduction of Inequality Definitions In relation to the topic, MacLeod explains social reproduction as the theory that explains how societal institutions perpetuate or reproduce the social relationships and attitudes needed to sustain the existing relations of production in a capitalist society. (MacLeod 9) In this definition, the societal institutions are places like, government offices, and schools. These institutions according to him help continue to maintain the status quo by preserving the existing barriers between classes. To investigate this there are two main ways to analyze the situation, one can use the advocate deterministic model or the model that focuses more on the autonomy of the individual. Bourdieu s habitus is composed of the attitudes, beliefs, and experiences of those inhabiting one s social world (MacLeod 13) and this combination results in profoundly internalized beliefs and values that influence an individuals reactions toward various aspects of life, most notable in this situation, education. The big winner of this transformation was the common man. Specifically, the common white man as universal white manhood suffrage (all white men could vote) became the norm. ii. In the election of 1824, there were four towering candidates: Andrew Jackson of Tennessee, Henry Clay of Kentucky, William H. Crawford of Georgia, and John Q. Adams of Massachusetts. 1. All four called themselves Republicans. 2. Three were a favorite son of their respective region but Clay thought of himself as a national figure (he was Speaker of the House and author of the American System ). iii. In the results, Jackson got the most popular votes and the most electoral votes, but he failed to get the majority in the Electoral College. Adams came in second in both, while Crawford was fourth in the popular vote but third in the electoral votes. Clay was 4th in the electoral vote. iv. By the 12th Amendment, the top three electoral vote getters would be voted upon in the House of Reps. and the majority (over 50%) would be elected president. v. Clay was eliminated, but he was the Speaker of the House, and since Crawford had recently suffered a paralytic stroke and Clay hated Jackson, he threw his support behind John Q. • 42. A Position Of Influence On The American Prison System Project Summary: The United States incarcerates approximately 2.3 million prisoners as of 2016, much greater than any other country. Though this large prison population exists, the crime rate is similar to other, similarly developed, countries. This problem can be, if not solved, significantly alleviated by implementing, as much as possible, the types of policy present in the German prison system, and others like it. This project would recommend solutions to those in a position of influence in the American prison system, a way to efficiently implement German, and other similar countries, prison policy and principles in a manner that is applicable to already existing American prisons. I estimate that I would need approximately three weeks to research further into this problem and its solutions, and to write the recommendation report proposed here. INTRODUCTION The United States is spending close to $80 billion a year on prisons and rehabilitation programs, a lot of which is going to waste as shown by the 50% recidivism rate. This proposal will demonstrate the need for a restructuring of the prison system, the sources available for inspiration to help solve this problem, and the need for the recommendation report proposed here. Disturbingly the National Security Agency (NSA) has been collecting metadata on Americans personal telephones and electronics devices for several years. This collection was happening before the NSAAnalyst Edward Snowden leaked these facts to the world in late 2013. The NSA was formed in the 1950 s, and during this time frame the NSA disseminated intelligence information from electronic signals for foreign and counter intelligence purposes, which supported the American military needs. • 44. Persuasive Essay On How To Stop Bullying Bullies can be found in every school. However, they can be hard to spot. That is why teachers and students should always be on the lookout for bullying, and not hesitate to stop it if they discover a bully. In this situation, Martha is being teased by people that seem to be her friends. What is said doesn t seem to be teasing, though. The jokes hit too close to home and are extremely hurtful. However, we are not positive this is a case of bullying. If I were one of the bystanders in this type of situation, I would try to stop the bullying, because the teasing could get worse as time goes on, Martha might not be able to stop the bullies on her own, and I would want someone to help me if I was being bullied. The first reason I would try to stop Martha s bullies is because the teasing could get worse as time passes. The comments are already hurtful, but they could become something even more serious if no one intervenes. For example, when you first get clothes, they are not usually very comfortable, because they re tight and haven t been worn. But the more you wear them, the more comfortable they get, and eventually you ve worn them so much you need new clothes. This could be the case with Martha s bullying. The more the girls bully Martha, the more comfortable they get with teasing her. Eventually, they ll buy new clothes , which represents them adopting a harsher form of bullying. Then, the process will start all over again, and the bullying will get worse and worse. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Psychology Of Religion Ludwig Feuerbach and Sigmund Freud were similar in that both were reductionists who saw God as somewhat of a false projection of the human mind, so both offer a psychology of religion, but that is also the ending of their similarities. Feuerbach, for example, saw religion as the consciousness of God being merely the projection of self consciousness; as Feuerbach puts it, Such as are a man s thought and dispositions, such is his God (Feuerbach, p.139). And Feuerbach found that studying religion was beneficial to understanding humankind and did not need to be destroyed or dismantled, which is why he proposed the idea that Theology is Anthropology (Feuerbach, p.141). Self consciousness to God consciousness is an idea in which one projects their values and ideals onto the created deity in order to give oneself a moral guideline to live up to, theoretically. And while in most religions it may not be the individual s moral ideals, but those adopted from the religion they are surrounded by or have chosen to ascribe themselves, the same general idea would still apply as it would be the collective projecting of the self consciousness into God consciousness. While Feuerbach does not necessarily see a benefit to following any religions and believing in any god or gods, he does not decide to call for there to be an end to such deities or religions, as he does not see any harm stemming from the belief in them; rather, he believes that religious gods give a way of studying the people that worship them. The idea of studying a religion to understand the people that follow or believe said religion is a concept that Feuerbach coined as Theology is anthropology (Feuerbach, p. 141). Because of this American privilege, I am grateful, but I am ignorant. America is a great nation, but because we cannot fully comprehend what it may be like to be born without privilege, we have become selfish. If it is beneficial, America severely chastises and punishes any for the commitment of atrocities against ourselves and others, but when not directly affected, America ignores atrocities committed in other countries, even when committed by us.
