Article #2 Paper in Screen Prototyping: An Agile Technique to Anticipate the Mobile Experience
Summary
This article discuss about the prototyping that utilizes paper and mobile technology. It describe an idea
of translating paper prototype system into a digital execution. You draw a paper prototype, take high
quality pictures of each prototype, edit the images, and organize them into the task scenarios. Paper
prototypes provides a quick means for testing basic interactivity that may be essential for specific
design decision (Bolchini 31).
Reaction
This article provide excellent topic on paper prototype transforming into a paper in screen as well as
analyze the three approach of prototype: paper, paper in screen, and high fidelity. However, I rather
like to see the author describe more of a paper prototype rather than focus on mobile device. The
paper in screen offer unique content of a paper view on a screen, but you can t do much nonetheless
swipe to the next screen. In addition, it doesn t make any mistakes. In the emotion sections of the
paper, I also enjoy reading about the relationship of user experience and design. Visceral level is the
simplest and most important factor of degree (Bolchini 31). In other word, the look, feel, and sound of
the mobile device is important.

Funeral Home Industry
Introduction:
There has always been a death industry but as the industry changes from product based purchases to
experience based there is a growing need in the industry to accommodate for how the industry is doing
to shift in the upcoming generations. The existing funeral homes are the traditional style interiors that
the previous generation got accustom with the product base design, but more funerals are become
more personal and deviate from the previous funeral ideas. Just like every funeral service is unique,
the grieving process is different from one person to the next. With providing a service that takes into
account of different techniques, whether through the space, social interaction or counselling helps
process the grief of the individual. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The funeral industry is changing from product based to experience based, and from burial to
cremations (National Funeral Directors Association [NFDA], 2015; Koop Kemp, 2007; Wolfelt,
2004). Traditional funeral homes started off as having funerals in the deceased homes, then creating
buildings that have a home like interiors. The generation at the time was all about the price of the
required products; like the price of the casket, what was the casket made of, wood or metal, what was
the best price for the burial lots (Steven Kemp, 2007). The industry was previously mostly a product
driven industry but, as the industry is changing the funeral service must focus on being customer and
experience driven (Wolfelt, 2004). The baby boomer generation is coming, they are sceptical of
traditional funerals but want some sort of service and want more information about the entire funeral
process and more ideas for personalizing the service (Wolfelt, 2004). Through the generation
difference and the changing market that allows for more of an experience customizable space that
depends on tradition, customs and beliefs of the customer (Wolfelt, 2004; Parkes Laungani Young,
2003). The baby boomers are more likely to choose cremation for body disposition (Wolfelt, 2004;
NFDA, 2015) which provides a market change within the industry. The business of the past is not, and
cannot be, the business of the future. But there is a future in funeral service (Wolfelt, 2004). Today s
funeral director must consciously work to create a package of experience to offer families in
conjunction with or even instead of the product (Wolfelt, 2004). Through bundling of products, it
allows for easier understanding of the products but still allows for customization of the service that the

Self Image

What is Self Image?
A person s self image can depend on many factors, to include internal/external and perceived/actual.
Their answer when asked What do you believe people think about you? can provide a very succinct
view of their self image and possibly how it is formed. The concept of self is derived from many traits
usually perceived as demographic information (gender, height, weight, race, etc.) but also other less
measurable components such as personal experiences or internalized judgements from others.
Self image may consist of three types:
1. Self image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself.
2. Self image resulting from how others see the individual.
3. Self image resulting from how the individual perceives others see him or her.
These three types may or may not be an accurate representation of the person. All, some or none of
them may be true.
Cognitive and social psychologists have given self image a more technical term self schema which
refers to a summary of a person s beliefs, experiences and generalizations about the self. Self schema
is based on many aspects including personal interests, traits and physical characteristics.
Victim mentality
Victims of abuse and manipulation often get trapped into a self image of victimization. The
psychological profile of victimization includes a pervasive sense of helplessness, passivity, loss of
control,

Using the four steps in essay writing will help you make your essay a better paper to read (Bethel

Haitian Revolution Dbq
The Haitian Revolution took place in 1791. One of the main Factors which led to the success of the
revolution is the collapse and the malfunction of the French Monarchy. In France, the revolutionary
government was considering equality. The governor at the time implemented the idea of equality for
all blacks and whites to bend, he also mandated that slavery abolished. Instead of the people of France
agreeing with him they Beheaded him and killed his members. The salves thought that they had been
freed in the Caribbean which resulted in their starting to resist and revolt on the basis that the planter
were hiding their freedom from them. They wanted to be free and not be beaten anymore. Which

He was also very successful in negotiating with the French General Leclerc, who misrepresented
France s orders by attacking L Ouverture and his forces. L Ouverture was able to calmly respond by
arranging a diplomatic meeting and creating a resolution about territorial boundaries, proving his
advanced diplomatic ability. He also proved advanced military ability by defending cities against
French Gen. Rochambeau. One specific battle was at La Croix, during which L Ouverture fought off
Rochambeau s force which far outnumbered his own (304). Dessalines and Christophe also proved
very capable and they worked cohesively with each other and with L Ouverture . L Ouverture s
leadership empowered the Haitian people and the slave armies and his reputation had such a lasting
effect that he became a heroic figure for anti slavery activism in the U.S. He was described by some
activists in the mid 1800s as being among history s greatest men (Clavin 38). His character became a
symbol of anti slavery idealism and, on a larger scale, of racial equality (35). L Ouverture was proof of
the ability of black men to achieve feats comparable to white men, showing that the races were equal
(38). His success had revolutionary implications because this was the first time a black slave

The construction and store design teams must work closely together because when building a new Tim

responsibilities begin with choosing a place where building is most convenient for customers to
making blueprints in order to see what the Tim Horton location will look like from the inside and

Tax Base Miami
Tax Base Miami MLA People living in Miami are in the face of danger, and for the most part they are
not aware of it. Due to high population, Miami is the fourth largest city to become affected by sea
level rise. (Ankum et al.) In the next 32 50 years, sea level is expected to rise by as much as two feet.
(Ankum et al.) This two foot rise will have detrimental effects on the urban settings of Miami. The
amount of soil erosion that is undergoing at our beaches will greatly increase if a two foot rise occurs.
At a four foot rise, road connectivity would begin to become affected. At a six foot rise, Southern
Florida would no longer be habitable as it would, for the most part, be underwater. Not much is being
invested in mitigation efforts, most of what is being done are short term solutions. Instead of coming
up with ideas to prevent and try to slow down the effects of climate change on our environment, we
are focusing on ideas such as building up a sea wall, relocating power plants, and redesigning
structures. Climate isn t the only thing changing, our environments are changing too. Our lakes are
becoming polluted and eutrophic (Scavia et al.), which causes the overgrowth of algae and death of
many of the species found within the lakes. Here in Miami, water has an important role in the value of
housing by real estate buyers. (McCormick et al.) Imagine building two houses of identical shape and
size. One house is built around a neighborhood devoid of water sources and the

Fahrenheit 451 Week 1 Lesson Learned
This week in school I learned about mutations. Mutations are the changing of the structure of a gene,
resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, Caused by the alteration
of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or
chromosomes. The most important thing I learned about this week is that if it was not for mutations
we would not be able to survive up to this date. The assignment that I spent the most time on was
studying for my test that the entire ninth grade took. I can tell i am learning because i really

Superheroes Psychology
The compilation of various essays in The Psychology of Superheroes by Robin S. Rosenberg provides
an interesting psychological look at comic book world characters in the context of the contemporary
and ever growing success of the superhero genre in film and television. Themes the book covers are
super characters and their positive attributes, group dynamics, environmental factors, introspection,
gender roles, stress, and mental illness, just to name a few. The book does not have any original
characters of its own, rather picking out noteworthy figures from galleries of superheroes and their

This movie deconstructed and celebrated the superhero genre in a mature but fun way. However, under
the layers of this homage to the super humans, I did not realize the extent of sex and gender identity
that can be analyzed through the characters models. The Incredibles reinforces the skewed body
proportions that can be seen in superhero comics. Artist Rob Liefeld is infamous for his over
exaggerated male bodies bulging with muscles and female bodies with unbelievably tiny waists. The
Incredibles, surprisingly, has more realistic body proportions for Mr. Incredible, but Mrs. Incredible is
a caricature of the female body shape. However, behaviorally, Mr. Incredible and Mrs. Incredible
contain characteristics that are typically considered stereotypical male behavior. The disconnect
between a super woman s body type and personality demonstrates an embodiment of the ideal
feminine physique and ideal masculin attributes that allow her not only to be adored as a woman, but
also respected and honored like a man (217). It bothers me that the female idealized body, small waists
and larger bust, has no practical purpose for superhero fighting, yet persists in the superhero genre.
Though The Incredibles is my favorite Pixar film, the book gave me a new perspective on it and the
female body in the superhero media. I hope as time goes on, the genre can

perfect for my sister s budget it allows my sister to print off bar code and also the price right next to it
and the bar code printer only costs $200.
The ongoing maintenance that will be required for this process is that for every item my sister owns
she will need to keep track on which code belongs to which item by typing the description into the
system. By her doing so it is letting the system know which code it belongs to what and she wouldn t
have any confusion on how many of that item she has left. That way whenever she scans an item out
of her inventory she will know exactly how many of that item she has left in her inventory. My sister
will also need to stock up on bar code labels for her bar code printer. She would need to check her
inventory every month now since it is an automated method instead of a manual method which she
would have to check up on inventory every week.

They don t want to share their experiences on death and try to shade their young ones from ever
discovering about it (Mullin 2008). In Islam, Muslims categorize death as the transitory period of one
state to another. The religion elaborates that living in the world is a test in which if they succeed they
reap the benefits after death. The religion signifies that death is something that should be accepted as a
part of living. This is seen apparent through old age, terminal illness, or even mourning in stages of a
Muslim s life (Aziz 1998, pp. 138 140).
Treatment of Death by Individuals Each individual on this world is unique and different in every way.
They can be different according to their values, morals, and experiences. Values and morals shape a
person on what is right or wrong and how they should react in certain situations. For example, in case
of death, some people have complete breakdowns when someone dies while others just feel dead
inside with no reaction whatsoever. Lisa Firestone states that being aware of death can allow humans
to treat life differently. Conscious awareness makes people make better decisions and try to avoid

What Is The Theme Of Touching The Void
Touching the void by Joe Simpson is a vivid, intense and powerful story of a horrifying adventure in
the Peruvian Andes. Two experienced climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set out to conquer the
mountain Siula Grande. They do indeed achieve their aim, but disaster strikes on the way down and
Simon has to make an impossible decision should he cut the rope holding Joe, thereby saving his own
life, or should he stay attached, leading to certain death for both of them? They face an almost
impossible journey, where their survival instinct and absolute courage, triumph the human spirit over
the power of mother nature s battle. Alpine Style climbing can be very dangerous and is also the style
Joe and Simon used. This means carrying all of one s food, shelter, equipment, etc. climbing up the
mountain. The novel as a whole demonstrates survival, because it s all about a man who had the
extraordinary ability of human nature to survive, physically and mentally. When Joe was in the
crevasse, he was trying to find a way out but he couldn t. He stated, There was no going back now, yet
inside I was screaming to stop. This shows that even if he didn t want to, Joe would do anything he
possibly can to survive. Also, the word screaming astonishing, strong word and really shows what a
bad situation Joe was in and how close he was to giving up. Later, ... Show more content on

If Yates had known that Simpson was dead or destine to die his actions would have been vindicating,
but as he did not know this, he violated the ethics of rope climbing. In a certain formal, this is true,

Honky by Dalton Conley Essay
Growing up in the projects in hard enough as it is, but throw in the fact that you are a white kid, and
you have an idea of what Dalton Conley has had to grow up with. Now a successful sociologist,
Dalton Conley explains in his book, the trials and tribulations he had to face in order to survive in the
projects and his battle with race. Conley had more exposure to the idea of race than most children,
growing up one of the only white kids in New York public housing projects populated by Black and
Puerto Rican families. His parents were artists, whose low income and desire to break societal molds
led them to apply for housing in the then fairly new projects. As most children are, Conley was at first
fairly oblivious to race, a fact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When his sister Alexandra got involved with drugs, she was able to escape unscathed and go on to
college, while a non white friend ended up serving 25 years in prison after a drug raid.
These references show that just because a person may not seem to fit in a certain environment, or are
just to poor to do anything about it, doesn t mean they have to settle with this concept. Triumphing
over obstacles such as race and economic position are some of the ideas the author is able to throw out
and try to inspire people. Don t settle with something mediocre, when a person is capable of so much
more. This is a theme that seems to sustain through out the entire book.
It almost seems as though the author is glad to have had to grow up in such diverse conditions. People
may read this book and think, the guy really had it rough , but if anything he seems to have benefited
from it. Through his experiences, Conley is able to take with him, a small but vital idea of unity. If he
was able to adapt and coexist in a environment not suited for him, it will give a lot of hope for a lot of
people.
Because this book is about race, people seem to forget how amusing this book can really be. One line
that seems to stick out is when one of the children comments to Conley about his mother and a
wedding dress. Your mom s so white she went to her

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today s...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell
phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur
filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the
success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and
internet culture is shaping the development of today s society.
Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone
use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage.
Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the
purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video
online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely
based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect instrument for the look at me age. Its
charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This
quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the
projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting
the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one who searches for
validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both

A Brief History of Yellow Fever Essay examples
You woke up a week ago feeling odd. You were not sure what was wrong, but your body was full of
aches, you felt hot to the touch, and you kept vomiting. Your mother told you to lay down and rest,
hoping it was just a cold. After a few days, you began to feel better, well enough that you wanted to
return to the river to watch the trade ships come in. Now, unfortunately, your symptoms have come

The symptoms documented from that outbreak are the first recorded that best match those of Yellow
Fever, then termed black vomit, because the infection would cause bloody vomit. Later, it was deemed
Yellow Jack due to the typical jaundice the infection would cause: a yellowing of the skin, eyes, and
other mucous membranes. For the next few centuries, outbreaks would occur near ship trade routes,
further showing that the disease was probably brought from Africa on ships. The fictional story of the
Flying Dutchman was based on stories of Yellow Fever because wherever the Dutchman went, all
would perish. Likewise, when an infected ship would come to in port, citizens of that town or city
quickly began to take ill and many would die (Dickerson 48). Many times, a town would refuse to let
ships port in fear that they would bring sickness with them. In the late 1700s, the city of Philadelphia,
then the capital of the newly formed United States of America, lost nearly one tenth of its population
due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever. Because of the outbreak, many well known political figures fled
the city and the country moved the capital from to Washington D.C. where it has stayed ever since.
During the same time, Yellow Fever also attacked Europe and Central America, presumably still being
spread by trade and slave ships. It is believed that in the early 1800s, Napoleon desired to sell
Louisiana to the United States after Yellow Fever drastically reduced his army

all this arguing doesn t actually help answer the question. Are people good at heart? The answer, once
the evidence is actually looked at and put together, is quite easy to reach. No, people are not good at
heart, as they have to learn to be selfless, and if people are truly good at heart, those dark thoughts that
seemingly come out of nowhere wouldn t pop up. Now, if people truly are good at heart, the evidence
would be seen mostly in babies and toddlers. How often has a toddler shared their toys peacefully?

Sacramento Regional Transit Strategic Plan Essay
Large cities and populations rely on public transportation to reduce traffic congestion and vehicle

reliable regional transportation system those who cannot afford cars are greatly impacted. Such groups
may be confined to a particular neighborhood which may result in lack of accessibility to jobs or other

Journey Of Truth In John Cheever s The Swimmer
Journey of Truth The short story The Swimmer by John Cheever, is about a man s swimming journey
home after a long night of drinking. Cheever uses the man s journey home as a metaphor for the
journey of alcohol. Cheever shows the parallels between the man s journey home and the journey
alcohol takes a person in many ways. The main two are the way he feels after each new pool, and the
time that lapses on his journey. The first way Cheever uses to show the parallels, is the way the main
character feels after each pool. The man, in the beginning, is strong and energetic, feels good about his
life, and is looked up to by his friends. The man thinks of himself as a legendary figure (Cheever,
Pg1). As if there was nothing he could not do. As his journey progresses he changes. Physically, he
gets weaker, and is unable to pull himself out of the pool without the use of the pool ladder and is
unwilling to dive into the pool, as before. He goes from being warm to being chilled to the bone. The
man would also start feeling bad if he did not drink. A person who uses alcohol in a continuous
manner, and then tries to give up drinking for a prolonged amount of time, can go through
withdrawals from the alcohol. The reason that this shows parallels between the man s journey home
and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Time in the beginning of the story went by slowly. Then, towards the middle of his journey home he
realizes that the leaves have started to change colors, and that it was getting cooler. The journey of

happy, and by the time the story ended the man was cold and miserable. So what Cheever is trying to
illustrate is that the man s journey started in the summer, and ended getting close to winter. This was
obtained by describing the seasons changing from summer to fall and then to

Farewell To Manzanar, And The Bracelet By Yoshika Uchida
Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This is when
Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. Perspective is significant
to this particular event due to how it reveals the characters attitudes throughout his or her experience.
The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar,
and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses
how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a
short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life
lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and
Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other
individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because
Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event
were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the
United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien.
This relates to Jeanne because she states that President Roosevelt approved and gave permission to the
War Department authority to take her father. In the short story, Yoshika Uchida says, The FBI had

The Era Of The Gilded Age
From 1865 to 1900, the American industry paved the way for an era like none that has been seen

Even though, this time in history seemed progressive on many fronts, it was known as the Gilded Age
. The Gilded Age was a three decade time in America that involved an expanding economy and a
useless government. The thought of going to an American city, getting a job, and getting paid was
ideal to most outsiders. The problem was, once they arrived and found a job, it was not as wonderful

Along with other factors, the ghettos shined a bad light on immigrants because the ugly and unkempt

foreigners and nativism began. Nativism is protecting the interests of native born people against the
interests of immigrants. Most Americans were afraid of the immigrants and the power they had on the
economy, so they started to attack the immigrants, both physically and socially. Many political
cartoons were published supporting anti immigration and violence was geared towards the newcomers
(Appleby 310). There is no doubt the abundant numbers of immigrants created issues amongst the
American people. Immigration was an issue that needed attention. In attempt to hinder the incoming
population, the Chinese Exclusion Act started in 1882. The act prevented all people of Chinese origin
to move to America. It also prevented any Chinese person already living in America to gain
citizenship, if they had not already (310). The government also began to put regulations and
restrictions on who could enter the U.S. In 1907 the Immigration Commission was established. This
department only had to deal with immigration and immigration laws. They prevented unskilled
immigrants and criminals from entering the U.S. Their job was also to deport any immigrants that had
committed a crime (America and Immigration). The government understood the problems

Nerds Essay
I can barely hear myself think over the constant roaring of the student body as we pile into the

However, I affiliate with none of those cliques. Instead, I sit with those who are typically called the

Argumentative Essay On Buy Nothing Day
The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically
changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need
at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to
provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts
to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current
lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable
impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it
provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the
materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories,
vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate
change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out
forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using
excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up.
While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an

The importance of culture and organizational structure and the integration between them is discussed
in depth as well, in order to state the factors that need to be focused on for design of an enterprise.
Bernard has further elaborated on various organization models and scrutinized them to justify the
distinction between organization and enterprise. Associated risks and process of estimating the cost
and benefits are eventually explored, covering several important aspects of EA.
Evaluation
Enterprise Architecture is defined as a coherent whole of principles, methods, and models that are
used in the design and realization of an enterprise s organizational structure, business processes,
information systems, and infrastructure (Lankhorst et al, 2012). Over time, EA has become an integral
part of organization s strategy rather than being a mere guideline, (Vaidyanathan, 2005) motivating
organizations to design business aligned enterprise systems. The author s representation of EA as a
strategy, business and technology driven process and its meta disciplinary role thus seems accurately
described. Decisions taken are often incomplete without an adequate decision supporting frameworks
(Narman, 2012). Several organizations have adopted EA frameworks in order to maintain links with
other systems and ultimately create integrated systems, similar to building blocks that fit together
(Shah and Kourdi, 2007). The author s knowledge

Taking a Look at Regular Warfare
As noted in the Small Wars Manual (SWM), Regular war never takes exactly the form of any of its
predecessors, so, even to a greater degree is each small war somewhat different from anything that
preceded it. The SMW was originally published in 1935 and written as a response to a call for doctrine
after the Philippine War and numerous small wars in Central and South America, the banana wars.
Military leadership recognized the importance of irregular warfare and unfortunately due to World
War II, switched their focus towards regular warfare. However, some would argue that WWII ended
with a tone of irregular warfare due to the development and use of the atomic bomb. It was outside the
paradigm of Napoleonic styled warfare with massive unit formations facing each other on the plains of
battle. Since a vast majority of wars over the last 100 years have been fought using the irregular
warfare construct it would be extremely important for the US military to train and equip a sizable
piece of the force to focus on fighting an irregular war. However, this does not negate the need to train
and equip forces to fight a regular war. Our strategic policy should be to fully incorporate irregular
warfare into our defense industrial complex to provide for the greatest coverage of war contingencies.
Neither type of war should take priority over the other. In fact, each is dependent on each other. We
need the ships, planes, and tactical logistics equipment to provide irregular warfighters

The generation at the time was all about the price of the required products; like the price of the casket, what was the casket made of, wood or metal, what was the best price for the burial lots (Steven Kemp, 2007). The industry was previously mostly a product driven industry but, as the industry is changing the funeral service must focus on being customer and experience driven (Wolfelt, 2004). The baby boomer generation is coming, they are sceptical of traditional funerals but want some sort of service and want more information about the entire funeral process and more ideas for personalizing the service (Wolfelt, 2004). Through the generation difference and the changing market that allows for more of an experience customizable space that depends on tradition, customs and beliefs of the customer (Wolfelt, 2004; Parkes Laungani Young, 2003). The baby boomers are more likely to choose cremation for body disposition (Wolfelt, 2004; NFDA, 2015) which provides a market change within the industry. The business of the past is not, and cannot be, the business of the future. But there is a future in funeral service (Wolfelt, 2004). Today s funeral director must consciously work to create a package of experience to offer families in conjunction with or even instead of the product (Wolfelt, 2004). Through bundling of products, it allows for easier understanding of the products but still allows for customization of the service that the client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Self Images AndSelf Image Self Image HERO Training 2015 2 Thomas Cumbie Tuesday, August 18 2015 What is Self Image? A person s self image can depend on many factors, to include internal/external and perceived/actual. Their answer when asked What do you believe people think about you? can provide a very succinct view of their self image and possibly how it is formed. The concept of self is derived from many traits usually perceived as demographic information (gender, height, weight, race, etc.) but also other less measurable components such as personal experiences or internalized judgements from others. Self image may consist of three types: 1. Self image resulting from how the individual sees himself or herself. 2. Self image resulting from how others see the individual. 3. Self image resulting from how the individual perceives others see him or her. These three types may or may not be an accurate representation of the person. All, some or none of them may be true. Cognitive and social psychologists have given self image a more technical term self schema which refers to a summary of a person s beliefs, experiences and generalizations about the self. Self schema is based on many aspects including personal interests, traits and physical characteristics. Victim mentality Victims of abuse and manipulation often get trapped into a self image of victimization. The psychological profile of victimization includes a pervasive sense of helplessness, passivity, loss of control, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Haitian Revolution Dbq TheHaitian Revolution took place in 1791. One of the main Factors which led to the success of the revolution is the collapse and the malfunction of the French Monarchy. In France, the revolutionary government was considering equality. The governor at the time implemented the idea of equality for all blacks and whites to bend, he also mandated that slavery abolished. Instead of the people of France agreeing with him they Beheaded him and killed his members. The salves thought that they had been freed in the Caribbean which resulted in their starting to resist and revolt on the basis that the planter were hiding their freedom from them. L Ouverture was able to calmly respond by arranging a diplomatic meeting and creating a resolution about territorial boundaries, proving his advanced diplomatic ability. He also proved advanced military ability by defending cities against French Gen. Rochambeau. One specific battle was at La Croix, during which L Ouverture fought off Rochambeau s force which far outnumbered his own (304). Dessalines and Christophe also proved very capable and they worked cohesively with each other and with L Ouverture . L Ouverture s leadership empowered the Haitian people and the slave armies and his reputation had such a lasting effect that he became a heroic figure for anti slavery activism in the U.S. He was described by some activists in the mid 1800s as being among history s greatest men (Clavin 38). His character became a symbol of anti slavery idealism and, on a larger scale, of racial equality (35). Tax Base Miami TaxBase Miami MLA People living in Miami are in the face of danger, and for the most part they are not aware of it. Due to high population, Miami is the fourth largest city to become affected by sea level rise. (Ankum et al.) In the next 32 50 years, sea level is expected to rise by as much as two feet. (Ankum et al.) This two foot rise will have detrimental effects on the urban settings of Miami. The amount of soil erosion that is undergoing at our beaches will greatly increase if a two foot rise occurs. At a four foot rise, road connectivity would begin to become affected. At a six foot rise, Southern Florida would no longer be habitable as it would, for the most part, be underwater. Not much is being invested in mitigation efforts, most of what is being done are short term solutions. Instead of coming up with ideas to prevent and try to slow down the effects of climate change on our environment, we are focusing on ideas such as building up a sea wall, relocating power plants, and redesigning structures. Climate isn t the only thing changing, our environments are changing too. Our lakes are becoming polluted and eutrophic (Scavia et al.), which causes the overgrowth of algae and death of many of the species found within the lakes. Here in Miami, water has an important role in the value of housing by real estate buyers. (McCormick et al.) Imagine building two houses of identical shape and size. Fahrenheit 451 Week1 Lesson Learned This week in school I learned about mutations. Mutations are the changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, Caused by the alteration of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or chromosomes. The most important thing I learned about this week is that if it was not for mutations we would not be able to survive up to this date. Rosenberg provides an interesting psychological look at comic book world characters in the context of the contemporary and ever growing success of the superhero genre in film and television. Themes the book covers are super characters and their positive attributes, group dynamics, environmental factors, introspection, gender roles, stress, and mental illness, just to name a few. The book does not have any original characters of its own, rather picking out noteworthy figures from galleries of superheroes and their rogues. This movie deconstructed and celebrated the superhero genre in a mature but fun way. However, under the layers of this homage to the super humans, I did not realize the extent of sex and gender identity that can be analyzed through the characters models. The Incredibles reinforces the skewed body proportions that can be seen in superhero comics. Artist Rob Liefeld is infamous for his over exaggerated male bodies bulging with muscles and female bodies with unbelievably tiny waists. The Incredibles, surprisingly, has more realistic body proportions for Mr. Incredible, but Mrs. Incredible is a caricature of the female body shape. However, behaviorally, Mr. Incredible and Mrs. Incredible contain characteristics that are typically considered stereotypical male behavior. The disconnect between a super woman s body type and personality demonstrates an embodiment of the ideal feminine physique and ideal masculin attributes that allow her not only to be adored as a woman, but also respected and honored like a man (217). It bothers me that the female idealized body, small waists and larger bust, has no practical purpose for superhero fighting, yet persists in the superhero genre. Though The Incredibles is my favorite Pixar film, the book gave me a new perspective on it and the female body in the superhero media. I hope as time goes on, the genre can ... In Islam, Muslims categorize death as the transitory period of one state to another. The religion elaborates that living in the world is a test in which if they succeed they reap the benefits after death. The religion signifies that death is something that should be accepted as a part of living. This is seen apparent through old age, terminal illness, or even mourning in stages of a Muslim s life (Aziz 1998, pp. 138 140). Treatment of Death by Individuals Each individual on this world is unique and different in every way. They can be different according to their values, morals, and experiences. The Communist VietnameseLeader Ho Chi Minh and the... Ho Chi Minh Ho Chi Minh was a Communist, who had announced Vietnam independent. He was a Marxist and believed in national Communism . Throughout the war with the French, Ho Chi Minh took refuge in northern Vietnam and settled there with his followers. He founded the Indochina Communist Party and the Viet Minh. North Vietnam was a deprived area and was cut off from the agricultural profit of South Vietnam. Ho Chi Minh was forced to ask assistance from main Communist allies, the Soviet Union and China. It marked the first occasion in human history in which a radical national movement under Communist leadership had succeeded in overthrowing the influence of a colonial state and establishing and maintaining its own new, independent form of social and political system. What Is TheTheme Of Touching The Void Touching the void by Joe Simpson is a vivid, intense and powerful story of a horrifying adventure in the Peruvian Andes. Two experienced climbers, Joe Simpson and Simon Yates, set out to conquer the mountain Siula Grande. They do indeed achieve their aim, but disaster strikes on the way down and Simon has to make an impossible decision should he cut the rope holding Joe, thereby saving his own life, or should he stay attached, leading to certain death for both of them? Alpine Style climbing can be very dangerous and is also the style Joe and Simon used. This means carrying all of one s food, shelter, equipment, etc. climbing up the mountain. How Technology HasChanged The Development Of Today s... Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and internet culture is shaping the development of today s society. Globally, the self concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states a perfect instrument for the look at me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism. (333) This quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one who searches for validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both ... A Brief Historyof Yellow Fever Essay examples You woke up a week ago feeling odd. You were not sure what was wrong, but your body was full of aches, you felt hot to the touch, and you kept vomiting. Your mother told you to lay down and rest, hoping it was just a cold. After a few days, you began to feel better, well enough that you wanted to return to the river to watch the trade ships come in. Now, unfortunately, your symptoms have come back with a vengeance your fever is back along with intense abdominal pain, your mouth is bleeding without being wounded, and every time you vomit, it appears black in color. Also, when you look in the mirror, your skin has changed from the sun kissed color you have always been to a dull yellow hue. The doctor comes in to examine you; he makes many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The symptoms documented from that outbreak are the first recorded that best match those of Yellow Fever, then termed black vomit, because the infection would cause bloody vomit. Later, it was deemed Yellow Jack due to the typical jaundice the infection would cause: a yellowing of the skin, eyes, and other mucous membranes. For the next few centuries, outbreaks would occur near ship trade routes, further showing that the disease was probably brought from Africa on ships. The fictional story of the Flying Dutchman was based on stories of Yellow Fever because wherever the Dutchman went, all would perish. Likewise, when an infected ship would come to in port, citizens of that town or city quickly began to take ill and many would die (Dickerson 48). Many times, a town would refuse to let ships port in fear that they would bring sickness with them. In the late 1700s, the city of Philadelphia, then the capital of the newly formed United States of America, lost nearly one tenth of its population due to an outbreak of Yellow Fever. Because of the outbreak, many well known political figures fled the city and the country moved the capital from to Washington D.C. where it has stayed ever since. During the same time, Yellow Fever also attacked Europe and Central America, presumably still being spread by trade and slave ships. It is believed that in the early 1800s, Napoleon desired to sell Louisiana to the United States after Yellow Fever drastically reduced his army ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Are People GoodAt Heart Research Paper A question that has been asked for many years is, Are people good at heart? However, people just can t seem to agree. They are divided; people fluctuate from side to side, sometimes staying neutral. Still, all this arguing doesn t actually help answer the question. Are people good at heart? The answer, once the evidence is actually looked at and put together, is quite easy to reach. No, people are not good at heart, as they have to learn to be selfless, and if people are truly good at heart, those dark thoughts that seemingly come out of nowhere wouldn t pop up. Now, if people truly are good at heart, the evidence would be seen mostly in babies and toddlers. How often has a toddler shared their toys peacefully? Not only that, but when ... Journey Of TruthIn John Cheever s The Swimmer Journey of Truth The short story The Swimmer by John Cheever, is about a man s swimming journey home after a long night of drinking. Cheever uses the man s journey home as a metaphor for the journey of alcohol. Cheever shows the parallels between the man s journey home and the journey alcohol takes a person in many ways. The main two are the way he feels after each new pool, and the time that lapses on his journey. The first way Cheever uses to show the parallels, is the way the main character feels after each pool. The man, in the beginning, is strong and energetic, feels good about his life, and is looked up to by his friends. The man thinks of himself as a legendary figure (Cheever, Pg1). As if there was nothing he could not do. As his journey progresses he changes. Physically, he gets weaker, and is unable to pull himself out of the pool without the use of the pool ladder and is unwilling to dive into the pool, as before. He goes from being warm to being chilled to the bone. The man would also start feeling bad if he did not drink. A person who uses alcohol in a continuous manner, and then tries to give up drinking for a prolonged amount of time, can go through withdrawals from the alcohol. The reason that this shows parallels between the man s journey home and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Time in the beginning of the story went by slowly. Farewell To Manzanar,And The Bracelet By Yoshika Uchida Japanese Americans were sent to internment camps after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. This is when Americans focused their fears of Japanese Americans turning against them. Perspective is significant to this particular event due to how it reveals the characters attitudes throughout his or her experience. The accounts that coincide with each other, although differ in perspectives are, Farewell to Manzanar, and, The Bracelet . Farewell to Manzanar is a memoir written by Jeanne Wakatsuki who discusses how her and her family had hardships during the time of the Japanese American War. The Bracelet is a short story by Yoshika Uchida. The author wrote about a Japanese adolescent, Ruri, who learns a life lesson while going through traumatic times. Based on a comparison of multiple events, Jeanne and Ruri have undergone the same experiences. However, those events defined how their and other individuals attitudes contrast. Likewise to Ruri, Jeanne was forced into an internment camp because Americans feared them turning against the United States. Jeanne and Ruri s attitude towards the event were alike due to how they were called enemy aliens. Ruri believes that her father was loyal to the United States, so it was funny to her how he was being taken away and considered an enemy alien. This relates to Jeanne because she states that President Roosevelt approved and gave permission to the War Department authority to take her father. The Era OfThe Gilded Age From 1865 to 1900, the American industry paved the way for an era like none that has been seen before. The country built and invented more supplies and materials than anyone had thought possible. Even though, this time in history seemed progressive on many fronts, it was known as the Gilded Age . The Gilded Age was a three decade time in America that involved an expanding economy and a useless government. The thought of going to an American city, getting a job, and getting paid was ideal to most outsiders. The problem was, once they arrived and found a job, it was not as wonderful as it seemed . Along with other factors, the ghettos shined a bad light on immigrants because the ugly and unkempt house were a reflection of the immigrants living there. The city people were no longer accepting of the foreigners and nativism began. Nativism is protecting the interests of native born people against the interests of immigrants. Most Americans were afraid of the immigrants and the power they had on the economy, so they started to attack the immigrants, both physically and socially. Many political cartoons were published supporting anti immigration and violence was geared towards the newcomers (Appleby 310). There is no doubt the abundant numbers of immigrants created issues amongst the American people. Immigration was an issue that needed attention. In attempt to hinder the incoming population, the Chinese Exclusion Act started in 1882. The act prevented all people of Chinese origin to move to America. It also prevented any Chinese person already living in America to gain citizenship, if they had not already (310). The government also began to put regulations and restrictions on who could enter the U.S. In 1907 the Immigration Commission was established. This department only had to deal with immigration and immigration laws. They prevented unskilled immigrants and criminals from entering the U.S. Their job was also to deport any immigrants that had committed a crime (America and Immigration). Nerds Essay I canbarely hear myself think over the constant roaring of the student body as we pile into the lunchroom. I take a glance around the room as I make my way towards a table in the back, seeing everyone else make their way towards their usual tables as well. As cliché as it seems, most people sit with those who are like them the popular girls sit together and talk about homecoming or boys, the football players sit side by side talking about their upcoming game, and the band kids huddle around their sheet music, using their lunch break as practice. However, I affiliate with none of those cliques. Instead, I sit with those who are typically called the nerds or geeks of the school. There are only guys on the table, except for me. Ordinarily, we talk about television shows or our favorite video games. Today, it is just a typical day with every table doing what it normally does, with no one giving any of it a second thought. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Argumentative Essay OnBuy Nothing Day The rise of industrialization and manufacturing that began in the eighteenth century has drastically changed the lifestyles of the world. No longer do citizens find, make, or trade for everything they need at home and in their local communities, but instead they rely on national and global commerce to provide for them. This shift in production is the basis for the annual Buy Nothing Day, which attempts to reverse the ill effects of gross consumerism and spread awareness of the issues in our current lifestyles. While many critics would point to the fact that one day will provide little to no discernable impact on the problems faced, Buy Nothing Day will produce greater effects through the awareness it provides than any actual deeds committed on that singular day. Widespread consumerism and the materialistic society we live in has many detrimental effects on the environment. The factories, vehicles, and resources used to sustain our goods based economy contribute greatly to global climate change, pollution, and deforestation. Your coffee beans from Starbucks are harvested from dying out forests in South America, among other places, and shipped to the location nearest you by using excessive quantities of non renewable fossil fuels, all so you can receive your morning pick me up. While refraining from purchasing that coffee on Buy Nothing Day alone will not provide an immediate solution to the issue at hand, the ideals preached by the yearly event can make the participants ... Invisible Man Essay Thenarrator in Invisible Man has the opportunity to take on numerous roles in this novel due to his invisibility. The narrator comes in contact with 3 main characters that greatly shape his life and make him the invisible man that he is. The white men from the ballroom, Dr. Herbert Bledsoe from the college, and the narrator s grandfather all have a huge impact on the narrator s life. In his novel, Invisible Man, Ralph Ellison uses the main characters to affect the narrator s invisibility. Introduction: In order to build a target conformant and flexible Enterprise Architecture, and to put it in a perspective, it is very important to analyse and visualize various academic and industrial frameworks and comprehend and define its concepts. The importance of culture and organizational structure and the integration between them is discussed in depth as well, in order to state the factors that need to be focused on for design of an enterprise. Associated risks and process of estimating the cost and benefits are eventually explored, covering several important aspects of EA. Evaluation Enterprise Architecture is defined as a coherent whole of principles, methods, and models that are used in the design and realization of an enterprise s organizational structure, business processes, information systems, and infrastructure (Lankhorst et al, 2012). Over time, EA has become an integral part of organization s strategy rather than being a mere guideline, (Vaidyanathan, 2005) motivating organizations to design business aligned enterprise systems. The author s representation of EA as a strategy, business and technology driven process and its meta disciplinary role thus seems accurately described. Decisions taken are often incomplete without an adequate decision supporting frameworks (Narman, 2012). Several organizations have adopted EA frameworks in order to maintain links with other systems and ultimately create integrated systems, similar to building blocks that fit together (Shah and Kourdi, 2007). Taking a Lookat Regular Warfare As noted in the Small Wars Manual (SWM), Regular war never takes exactly the form of any of its predecessors, so, even to a greater degree is each small war somewhat different from anything that preceded it. The SMW was originally published in 1935 and written as a response to a call for doctrine after the Philippine War and numerous small wars in Central and South America, the banana wars. Military leadership recognized the importance of irregular warfare and unfortunately due to World War II, switched their focus towards regular warfare. However, some would argue that WWII ended with a tone of irregular warfare due to the development and use of the atomic bomb. It was outside the paradigm of Napoleonic styled warfare with massive unit formations facing each other on the plains of battle. Since a vast majority of wars over the last 100 years have been fought using the irregular warfare construct it would be extremely important for the US military to train and equip a sizable piece of the force to focus on fighting an irregular war. However, this does not negate the need to train and equip forces to fight a regular war. Our strategic policy should be to fully incorporate irregular warfare into our defense industrial complex to provide for the greatest coverage of war contingencies. Neither type of war should take priority over the other. In fact, each is dependent on each other. We need the ships, planes, and tactical logistics equipment to provide irregular warfighters ...
