This document discusses different technologies learned through constructing a product:
Hot-metal printing involved typed text producing a paper tape to cast type for large, inexpensive printing. Movable type allows single characters to be reused.
Desktop publishing uses computers for high-quality documents, giving more control over characteristics than word processing.
Photoshop was difficult to learn initially but skills improved. Creating unique fonts and cropping images was challenging to position correctly without distortion.
Quark Xpress was hard to use at first, particularly for double page spreads. Inserting articles and properly sized images without distortion took practice. Future use would involve better learning the software first.
