Evaluation Question 6.
What have you learnt about technologies
from the process of constructing this
product?
I have created 3 different products; a front cover, contents page and double page
spread. I used different software to create them for the front cover I used
Photoshop and for the contents page and double page spread I used Quark.
To create the front cover I used Photoshop and by doing so I learnt new
techniques by using the different tools Photoshop has to offer. For example, I
learnt how to use the lasso tool which results in you taking out any unwanted part
of an image. I was able to stylise my front cover using the effects I could add on to
the masthead and coverlines on the magazine which made my front cover looks
more professional. There is also many short cuts I learnt eg. Ctrl & t which made
the production of the front cover less time consuming.
This is the masthead, I used an effect
which made it shine therefore making
it more attractive.
For both the contents page and double page spread I used Quark Xpress to create
them, I found this more difficult to use than Photoshop as there are less tools you
can use on Quark. I often found myself having to create something on Photoshop
and import it on to Quark which resulted in me learning how to import images and
text and resize them to an appropriate place. However, when I had to create the
double page spread I was able to use a tool which created a drop cap which is an
essential in double page spreads helping the reader know where the article starts.
This is a drop cap, it
made my double page
spread look professional.
