Media technologies played a vital role in the construction and research, planning, and evaluation stages. YouTube, Google, and Prezi were used for research purposes such as finding music videos to analyze, researching music theorists, and creating presentations. Planning was done using iPhones to take photos of work, WhatsApp for communication, and Facebook to find artist images. Photoshop and cameras were used to create digipaks and take photos. Wix and Photoshop built the website. A camera filmed the music video, which was then edited using Final Cut Pro and After Effects.

2. Media technologies have played a vital
part in our construction & research and
planning & evaluation stages. They
have allowed us to create a
visualisation of our ideas and also
helped in the process of creating our
music video and individual web pages
and digipaks.

3. ..RESEARCH..
YouTube helped us in our research stage as we used it to watch music
video’s that illustrated a certain genre. For example Usher – Love in this
club belonged to the R’N’B genre therefore we where able to watch it
and post it on our blogs.
We also used YouTube to find music video’s that reinforced many
theories that we put on our blogs. Example of this is ‘Nicki Minaj – Super
bass’ that challenges Laura Mulvey’s theory of the ‘Male gaze’ and
also ‘Beyoncé – run the world’ which reinforces Mulvey’s theory of
‘Fetishisation’

4. We used Google explorer simultaneously for many reasons during
research. One of the main uses of the internet was researching
Theorists. Example’s of this is Andrew Goodwin’s Theory, Mulvey’s
theories and Carlson’s Theory. As there are so many links to
information, we had to find one specific website that allowed us to
access relevant information for each theorist that we could then put
into our own words.

5. Prezi has helped us in the research stage; it has allowed us to present
the research we find in an innovative, creative way. As it is a virtual
canvas it allowed us to present the information in a media rich way
whilst still being able to go into detail and add music, pictures and
videos.

6. Apples product (the IPhone 5) helped us within the
research stage as it allowed us to film our target audience
giving us feedback on their favourite CD cover and why it
is their favourite. We then used Mover maker to put the
footage together and create an audience feedback
video.

7. Twitter was used to search for an artist, which is how
we found ‘Clinton Elvis’ and asked him to be
involved in our media production. We then used
Sound cloud to listen to his song. (This is how we
chose ‘my one and only’).

8. The Apple product (IPhone 5) allowed us to take pictures
of our written planning such as the storyboard, block
plan, digipak drafts, website drafts etc. We then posted
the planning on our blogs.

9. We created two WhatsApp groups:
One was just our media group so we could discuss when
and where we where going to film before we told our
artists, to make sure that we don’t sound unorganised
when speaking to him.
The second one was to insure that our artist was
available to film and specific days and also to tell him
know what times and what to wear. This saved us a lot
of time as we were all able to meet up in the filming
location at that specific time.

webpages. We chose to use
Wix as it is a very flexible web
page generator which allowed
us to create our webpages
similar to our drafts.

to film our artist and extra’s
(such as dancers) in the
various locations.
We used portable lights that
helped adapted to each
location as some where
outside however due to the
light source we were still
able to achieve a more
crisp look to our video
filming.

15. Final cut pro was the main media
technology that was used in the process of
our music video. We used it to initially
cut, edit and put our video clips in place to
create the structure of our music video. We
also used it to place simplistic effects on the
video such as video fades.

This also allowed us to discard shots that we
didn’t need as they were poorly shot. This
helped us realise that we needed to make
another concept and go out and film again
as they previously shots were too dark.

16. Photoshop was used to create our very own
cartoon like pop ups.

music video look more professional and
exciting by using more complex effects.
