New media technologies played an important role throughout the project. Final Cut Pro was used to edit captured videos and test different visual elements at various points in the song. A blog was used during the research stage to document progress and access information visually through images and sketches. YouTube provided sample music videos for inspiration and comparison. Google searched for artist information. Photoshop perfected text formatting. A camera, tripod, and green screen were used during filming to capture footage that could be edited and synced to the song on iMacs using Final Cut Pro.

1. QUESTION 4 – How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
New media technologies that we have used, includes iMacs for final cut pro has been more convenient for us as this would not
be available on other types of computers.
Final cut Pro was used in order to edit our captured videos in order to make an effective and enjoyable music video. It enabled
us to test what we wanted and what would look right at a certain point in a song. It allowed us to add effects, such as slow
down, speed up or change the colour.
Blogger- During the research stage, of the music video. We constantly uploaded the development of our work which helped
us in terms of keeping on track as we could easily access what stage we was at with our coursework. Using the blog, allowed us
to use a more visual format for us to follow, this included images and sketches.
Youtube – using YouTube helped us in many ways. Firstly, it helped with our initial research with searching for artists like Lady
Alexander and look for the type of music genre that she produces. From doing this, it gave us an idea of what a good music
video of that genre is and what we should do for ideas. We also watched old a2 music videos,that was good with comparing
and helped with ideas
Google – a well-known search engine was helpful as we could research various music artists and information that we found
difficult in facing when creating our product. Looking at other media products allowed us to analyse for other codes and
conventions of other genres and gave us ideas when deciding what to do with our digipack.
Prezi + Glogster – allowed us to present our information in a fancy way.
Wikipedia – This helped us to find information about the genre of pop/chart music genre.
Photoshop – using advanced Photoshop allowed us to perfect our texts to make them more professional, also it allowed is to
change font, colour and size so it would match with the background and the pictures of the artist.
Software – Camera and lighting –
In the construction stage of the video we used a camera to film various different shots, we also used a tripod in order in order
to hold our camera still so we could get the still shot that we needed for our video. By uploading it all to the iMacs, we then
could chose the footage that we wanted and edit and add transitions which matched the style of the song. The green screen
was used to shoot the chorus, this was important as we had to match the filming to the song so that the miming match to the
song correctly.
