The MacBook Pro was our most commonly used media technology;
because it had the software we needed to edit our footage and also
to go online. We chose to use a MacBook as we both have them and
are very familiar with them which allows us to edit more efficiently
which is crucial with this project. Another reason we chose Mac over
Windows is because of the speed of Mac’s. Mac’s can run extremely
quick which is great when dealing with such a huge amount of HD
footage.
We used iMovie to edit all of our footage for the music video, because it
is a fast and easy-to-use program that allowed us to add inserts, text,
transitions and effects over various clips of footage. The program also
allowed us to speed up or slow down any footage we wanted to, which
really helped when we worked on lip-syncing the piece.
We chose I move because this
was the software that we had
been training on for many
years and have had the most
experience on and we felt
most confortable using.
IMovie was a great choice of
editing software a it could do
complex editing yet very
simplistic.
I also used the professional software’s Photoshop and Lightroom.
These software’s allowed me to edit our digipack pictures. From taking
photography A-Level, it has taught me how to use these software’s so I
felt that I would be able to achieve the best results by using them.
Although it was very simplistic editing, these software’s would allow
me to edit the pictures, efficiently and to a professional
standard, which I feel I achieved.
The DSLR camera we used was a great asset to our media product, this
was because it allowed us to easily watch, and then delete
footage, that did not meet the acceptable requirements such as when
the lighting was incorrect or the frame had been shot poorly. Using the
Cannon 7D, it also meant that we could import the footage straight
from the camera straight to the Mac, quickly, which was convenient.
Slideshare and Prezzi were two of the of my research and planning
websites that I used, alongside Scribd and the Internet. I used these
because it mean that I could upload our research to share onto our
online blogs for the examiner, and it meant that everything was done
digitally, saving us from losing any work on paper. The most common
online website used was Blogger, this was used to upload and keep a
digital track on the process of the work that I have been doing in my A2
project. This website was great as it allowed you to customize your own
blog as was very easy to use and navigate around, making blogging
efficient and fun.
Doing the coursework online helped to share our information to social
network sites such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube to ask people to
fill out surveys and for them to also keep a track of our work and to give
feedback along the way. Facebook and YouTube allowed us to advertise
our video or ancillary texts to our target audience.
