3. Doing it without technology? Using the Apple Mac computers was a great benefit for us without us even knowing it was. The advances in technology has decreased the time it takes to edit footage and create a video. It has also increased the ease in doing so, with young teenagers being able to create a short video easily. The Apple Mac seems like it was created for video editing purposes, the ease felt by the computer is amazing. If we did not use the latest technology like computers, the video would not yet be completed!
4. Hardware To capture the footage we needed for the music video, we used a Sony Handycam camera . This camera recorded on to a tape which conviniently and easily uploaded to the Mac computers using a FireWire. This enabled us to quickly upload the footage and get editing straight away. We placed the camera on a tripod , similar to the one shown on the left. This ensured that the framing of each shot was level and straight. It also ensured that during the shot, the camera did not wobble like it would if we decided to use a hand held camera. With the music genre we are trying to represent, we needed clear, sharp shots. When attempting to achieve this, the tripod helped tremendously.
5. Software To edit all of the footage we had, we used Final Cut Express . If we did not have access to this software, we would have to use a similar software but a software that is at a lower standard. This would of effected the overall quality of the video. This software allowed us to not only cut all of the clips to make a continuous sequence, but it also allowed us to apply many effects to the clips. This improved the quality of the final product. The edit the images used in the digipak and on the website, we used Adobe Photoshop CS4 . Without this program or one similar we would have had a great struggle in producing a digipak. To create the website, we used Adobe Dreamweaver . This software was generally quite simple to use, allowing us to create the webpage. Without the modern technology, a website would not of been an option. Without Dreamweaver, we would have had to create the page in a document, attempting to make it look like a web page.
6. Software used for feedback Above are the logos of the various software used to gain feedback on the products produced. Without this software, we would not be able to reach each end of our target audience as our class only consists of 17/18 year olds. Vimeo allowed us to host our video so it could be posted on Facebook and on our blog. This gave us another method of gaining feedback.
7. Blogging Unlike the coursework conducted in Year 12 for our AS Media Studies, this year our work was based on and produced on Blogger. This is a prime example of how technologies are quickly developing. Blogger allowed us to easily incorporate images, videos and slideshows to help us to improve the quality of our work. I soon became familiar with blogging and actually started to quite enjoy it.
