6. What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?
My Laptop/College Computers <ul><li>I have used both my own laptop and college computers to do all of my work on. Since I already knew how to use both products I don’t feel I learnt much about either. </li></ul>
My Memory Stick <ul><li>To transfer work to and from college I used my memory stick. I use my memory stick often for other things and so this wasn’t a new experience and new how to transfer files/pictures easily without any problems </li></ul>
Scanner <ul><li>Until starting the media course I had never used a scanner before however now I feel confident in using it after having scanned many things onto the computer. I used it to scan my rough drafts and to scan a few magazines cover, contents and double page spread pages for example ‘Kerrang!’ </li></ul>
College Camera <ul><li>To take all my photos and videos I used a camera supplied by the college I often use cameras of my own outside of college and therefore had no problems when using it and didn’t feel I learnt much from the experience of using it </li></ul>
Photo Shop <ul><li>When using the computers at college I used Photo Shop to create my cover page I had never used Photo Shop before and so this was a new experience for me. I learnt many handy things like how to add different effects on to things for example ‘stroke effect’ which I used often, for example i used a red stroke effect on my masthead. I also used this to edit my photos for example I used this programme to get rid of the red eye on most of my images </li></ul>
In Design <ul><li>For my contents page and double page spread I used In Design and like Photo Shop I had never used this programme before. I again got the hang of it and learnt how to do many things which helped to construct both my contents and double page spread, for example using the rectangle tool to create boxes to place text and how to create columns for my article in order to follow the rule of thirds. </li></ul>
<ul><li>In addition to using these programmes in order to keep a record of my work I made a blog account using Blogger to post all my planning and research activities and my final magazine and evaluation. I had never used blogger before and so this was new to me however I picked it up pretty easily, learning how to edit, view and delete posts and made sure to keep uploading my work to it as I went along. </li></ul>Pasting embedded codes onto my blog
<ul><li>In order to get my focus group video on to my blog I had to upload it to YouTube I already had a YouTube account and so this wasn’t a problem, and i knew how to use it. </li></ul>Uploading my video ‘Focus Group’ to Youtube
Microsoft Office PowerPoint <ul><li>Most of the time I would use Microsoft Office PowerPoint to create my work files, and I had no problems with using this as I frequently used this programme anyway outside of college. </li></ul>An example of a presentation I made using Microsoft PowerPoint.
Microsoft Office Word <ul><li>Sometimes I had to use Microsoft Office Word to create some files such as my questionnaire as using PowerPoint wasn’t needed I had no problems using this programme as I frequently used it at home. </li></ul>Creating my Questionnaire in Word.
<ul><li>After writing my work up on either Word or PowerPoint, I uploaded some of my files to Slideshare, I had never used Slideshare before but found it easy to use, once the upload was complete and the file had been converted I then pasted the embedded code onto my blog. <ul><li>Another programme I used was Prezi it was slightly different to Slideshare. I had to create the file using Prezi itself rather than simply upload a Word Document or PowerPoint presentation, however I could upload images. By using this programme I found it made my blog more interactive and appealing. I had never used Prezi before and at first found it was difficult however after time I got used it and felt it made my work look more professional and well presented on my blog. </li></ul>Creating my ‘Used Images’ presentation in Prezi.
