What have you learned from
your audience feedback?
Evaluation Question 3
 Audience feedback is key within the industry, because it means film
companies can gain more of an insight into what their audience in
particular like about the film or what they think could be improved, directly
from them.
 The more a company can tailor its film to how their target audience wants it
the more it will sell.
As we had decided that the target audience for our film would be 15-25 year olds, we
felt it was important to gain some insight into what people of around these ages
thought about our products so far.
We could then take their feedback on board to see what they liked, and what they felt
needed changing.
The most appropriate way to get feedback for us was would be asking the rest of our
class as they are aged between 16 and 17 years old, which is around about the same
ages of what the audience of our film would be.
This would give us an accurate representation of what real film fans from this target
audience may think.
Teaser Trailer Rough Cut Feedback
Our Rough cut feedback from the class was very useful because it defined that we had established
the relationship between Rachel and Daniel (brother and sister) due to the dialogue we included.
And many acknowledged the genre of the film, Crime-Thriller/Action.
Unfortunately the main negative we got from the feedback was that quite a few people thought
Daniel had died during the clip where he is hit, so to resolve this we cut the impact shot short just
before you see the finishing hit so it doesn’t look like he was completely knocked out. The sound of
heavy breathing was also put in to make it extra clear he was still alive. Some did comment on music
as well because we hadn’t finished this element yet for the rough cut.
Rough Cut Poster
For our rough cut poster most of the feedback was good and there wasn’t much to improve on this.
The things they mentioned were that the colours worked well and they liked the font we used as well as the style
of the poster. Most people brought up about how our graphical element stood out to them.
However someone suggested adding a release date or some sort of reference to the release, also to add an
effect to the tagline and title to make it stand out more.
After receiving the feedback we added a drop shadow which makes it easier to read and stand out, and some
text saying "coming soon".
Before After
Rough Cut Magazine
Our good use of layering was pointed out along
with the extra text which tells you about what
else is in the magazine. Someone else mentioned
how they liked our added gun shots to the cover
because it helped show genre of the film.
As improvement most commented on that we
should use the space left which was empty and
put more text inside it, and to also add a
background to make the magazine more busy
looking.
By making these changes it made our magazine
look much more believable and realistic
especially using Empire as our desired company.
