The initial audience research we conducted was researching
which people would be interested in the genre we were
proposing. We wrote our storyline, and interviewed people
around the age that we were aiming our film at. We received
positive responses which was encouraging, so we decided to
stick with the original film idea. This was our planning part of
the process. We thought it was important, however, to get a
wider range of feedback from more people, so we sent out a
questionnaire about our storyline. Below you can see the
responses.
When filming and editing our film, we tried to ensure the meaning of
our film was apparent to the audience. We kept the theme throughout
that taking drugs is a negative thing. By killing off the main drug
addict in our film, I think we succeeded in ensuring the audience
would understand the meaning of our film. To make the film even
more accessible to the target audience, all the actors and people
involved in the film were of a similar age to that of the target audience.
We also decided to include things that they could relate to, such as the
bass heavy music apparent in our film, and the scene where all the
friends are playing the Xbox together. We thought all these things
would coincide well with the tastes of the audience.
After posting our film on YouTube and linking it to members of our
target audience, we received this feedback.
This feedback shows positivity across all areas. Everyone enjoyed the
storyline, thought it was realistic and thought the music fitted well
with the film. The interpretation of the film was also good overall, so I
am very pleased with the feedback we got from our film.
