After gaining audience feedback for all the tasks, I have learnt many things on how to improve my work,
as well as see my tasks from different perspectives and identify their strengths and weaknesses.

Our most useful feedback included:
Poster feedback through questionnaires
Magazine feedback through questionnaires
Film feedback with Soundcloud, Flip video,
Skype and via email
Recording feedback via Skype or a Flip Video was more
interactive, but it could go wrong with technical
problems, and our audience may feel under pressure to
answer.Questionnaires were the quickest way of
gaining audience feedback quickly, as well as the
fact that we were able to gain brief answers to specific questions.
Our most useful video feedback however, can be found here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7Qz5EWXf1Y. This involved a focus group of our target audience
watching a draft of our final film, and their responses were quite varied.
We were also keen to get feedback from industry professionals who were in the same demographic and
psychographic as our target audience, from their advice we could ensure a strong script and professional
final product.
With our teacher’s assistance, my colleague Laura contacted the professional editor Michael
Harrowes(http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0366037/) for feedback of our film’s third draft. This was
extremely useful for feedback as he could provide a fresh perspective on our film which he had not seen
before, as well as being able to give professional advice.
He really seemed to enjoy our film and wanted to know more, which means that so far our film had
been a success. Below is a summary of the advice he gave us, which we then took into account by
altering our film:
Delay title a bit so it appears on screen as actor has sat up, and extend slightly
Cut girl’s dialogue in kitchen scene more to keep pace
Filter noise of music from Thomas’ headphones
Our previous feedback from Dudi Appleton
(http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0032425/?ref_=fn_al_nm_1) had also been significantly helpful
towards improving our script for our short film. By seeing the feedback in phases like this, it meant that
for each stage of our rough cut we could critically evaluate our film's success and its appeal to our target
audience.

Once my group and I had finished our final products, we created another questionnaire for final
audience feedback. These questions encompass all of our products, how they were similar and if our
audience would be able to recognise them, but they mainly focus on our main task as we wanted to gain
the most feedback on this.
Below is some of the feedback we received
1)

Our genre was guessed correctly from all of our audience, although some believed it was mainly
mysterious

2)

Many agreed that it was this genre because of the suspense and that the characters are left unaware
of what is happening, and why.

3)

Similarities were noticed across all of our products. These included: Title font style, the setting in the
poster and film and the main character.

4)

All of our audience appeared to enjoy our film, the reasons varied but there seemed to be a common
admiration of how professional our film looked and the musical effects working well for our unique idea.

5)

Improvements included adding more dialogue, and creating a clearer storyline.

Perhaps by adding more dialogue which would vocalise Thomas’s struggles, his understanding of his ability
and his friend’s reactions more clearly, our storyline and intentions would have been made clearer for
our audience. This was very interesting feedback, as dialogue had never appeared to be an issue before,
but overall I believe I have learned that the combination of our final products has been successful with
our target audience. From all of the feedback we conducted, I believe our film was enjoyable for our
audience as they all appeared to enjoy watching it.
