The student felt their preliminary magazine task lacked polish since they only used Microsoft Word and Publisher. Through learning Photoshop and InDesign in the course, they have significantly improved their editing, design, and layout skills. Their knowledge of software like Photoshop and InDesign was very limited before, but now they feel confident using these programs to create more complex magazines that better meet their target audience's needs and preferences.

you feel you have learnt?

2. Preliminary Task
• Back when I first created my preliminary task, I
initially thought that as a magazine, it didn’t
look too bad. It is only now that I have learnt
about different software's, such as Photoshop
and InDesign, to name a few, that I can now
look back and see just how much I have
improved from my preliminary task.
• For my preliminary task, I can remember
thinking that the only software that I could feel
comfortable using was either Microsoft Word
or Microsoft Publisher, which left my editing
skills for my images and overall magazine at a
poor level.

5. My Knowledge Now
• Since designing my preliminary task on Publisher
and Word, my knowledge of how to use both
Photoshop and InDesign very effectively. As I have
previously said, my knowledge for these two
pieces of software before starting the course was
next to none, but now I feel that I could use it
again to create similar products and even more
complex ones with more guidance from the
sources that I seeked this time. The most I have
learnt while creating my magazine was what my
target audience wanted to see, by knowing this, I
was able to arrange it accordingly through skills I
had picked up through tutorials and through
explanations that my teacher gave to me.
