Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full
product?
Cover
 Looking back at the preliminary task, I feel I have learnt
more about the forms and conventions of a magazine,
and improved the layout of the text and images on both
the cover and contents page
 I think that my photographs have improved too, the
photos for my music magazine seem higher quality,
and follow conventions
 In my student magazine, I have used the same font for
the masthead, sub-heading and the coverlines, but I
have used a different font for the masthead to the
coverlines and sub-heading in my music magazine,
which gives it a bit of variety and makes it look better
as it doesn’t all look the same
 I used the ruler tool when creating my
music magazine to make sure that the
coverlines were aligned down the side
of the cover, but didn’t do this in the
preliminary task
 When creating my music magazine, I
had learnt how to use Photoshop and
had more practice using it, so could use
it to make my magazine look better and
could add in graphics and different
layers
Contents
 My contents page has improved because I have added
more to the page. My preliminary task contents page
feels bare and only has the titles of the articles, but my
music magazine contents page gives a short
description of each article and has more photographs.
 I added graphics to the page numbers so that they
could be read easily, as in my student magazine it
could be difficult to read the numbers against the
background
