2. MAC
What I learnt about using the
Mac was all the things you
could do and achieve on there,
and how using the Mac could
make my work better, e.g. Final
Cut Express which is only on
the Mac’s.
This was my first time using a
Mac so I was able to learn
about how to actually work it.
Advantages :
A lot on the Mac which we could use to make our work better
Once I learnt how to use it properly, it was then really easy for me to
use it and know what to do
The Mac worked quickly and effectively
Disadvantages :
If we did a piece of work on one Mac, we couldn’t access it on
another, so had to wait for someone to stop using our Mac so we
could access pieces of work
Word and PowerPoint were not installed on Mac so we had to find
another computer outside of media to do work

3. CAMERA With the camera I learnt
the basic skills – taking
pictures, using video – I
haven’t used a camera
like this before so I learnt
how to do the simple
things
Advantages :
Was easy to take pictures and record film, so was easy to use the camera, this
meant not as much time was taken trying to figure out how to use it
Using the tripod was easy too – this allowed the camera to stay steady so made the
film look better
Stayed in focus well which meant a clearer film and picture so more professional
looking
Easy to upload film from the camera to the Mac’s, so didn’t have to worry about
rushing filming as the upload wasn’t long
Lots of space so we didn’t need to worry about bringing multiple SD cards etc
Disadvantages :
You had to upload footage straight away in case someone were to then use that
camera, or accidentally delete your work
You had to charge battery a lot – if it ran out and all other batteries were being
used/charged, there’s nothing else you can do about it
Large and quite heavy so had to be very careful

4. FINAL CUT EXPRESS I learnt about how to use
final cu express from the
start – I learnt about
uploading clips, editing,
cutting, adding music,
using different techniques
– we used this for the
majority of our lessons,
and always used this after
filming
Advantages :
Once you have used it a couple times it is very easy to use and understand, so
the more times we used it, the quicker it was to finish a task
This made our work look professional as there were many editing and transition
effects which we could use
Easy to add music and add text
Disadvantages :
Took a long time to get the hang of how to use it, and we had to be very careful
when cutting certain bits out etc – so a lot of detail went in to make sure our
work looked proper
Took a long time to render certain parts of our film if there was a long clip
Took time to edit and watch to make sure it looked right

5. GARAGE BAND
I learnt from this how to make a
piece of music which linked well
with our opening, and I learnt
how to pick and choose which
music samples we wanted to fit
well with our film and we were
then able to then create an
effective piece of music
Advantages :
Easy to understand how to use it, and how to make music, and is simple when
viewing the different pieces of music and the different sounds that were already
on Garage Band
Was very simple and quick to crop the music and add in music
Disadvantages :
Took a long time figuring out how to export our music to Final Cut Express, and
then if it was wrong or needed cropping or needed a change in tempo etc, you
had to do this on Garage Band and then had to export it all over again, so was
a long process
Took time to listen to all the pieces of music and the sounds which were on
there already, especially when some pieces didn’t fit with the title they were
under

6. PREZI On Prezi, I was able to create an
effective presentation which included
images, video clips and the design of
each presentation was unique and
different. I have learnt how to use
Prezi quickly and efficiently in order to
make my work look more creative and
interesting, which then made blogger
also look more visually pleasing
Advantages :
Easy to use, and easy to add pictures, clips, music etc, to make the
presentation different and more interesting
Allows there to be more creativity in each presentation
Easy to embed and upload on to blogger
Disadvantages :
Sometimes takes a lot of time when it says can’t add another circle frame,
or can’t zoom in more, so sometimes can take a while to finish a
presentation

7. BLOGGER
Our blog was used for all
uploads for our evaluation,
clips, homework, pictures of
filming – so I learnt how to use
the blog, how to embed and
then upload pieces of work to
the blog, and how to make the
work look more interesting for
the blog
Advantages :
Able to embed our work before uploading it which allowed us to make our
work look better for our blog
Easy to work and understand, and by having tags for each member of the
group it allowed us to find our work easily and make it even easier to use
Disadvantages :
Takes time to embed work before uploading the work to blogger, and was
confusing before knowing how to embed and upload and use blogger

8. SCRIBD
This was were we embedded our
written pieces of work before
uploading to our blog. This meant
our work looked more fit for a
blog. I have learnt how to use this
website, and how to upload and
from there embed to blogger
Advantages :
Very easy to embed our work and understand how to use the website and
was very quick uploading our work
Once uploaded to the blog, it made it look more like a blog rather than
many pieces of work just written on the blog
Disadvantages :
In order to embed the work on to blogger, it means the work has to be
made public, which we didn’t need to have happen
After the first month free, you have to pay

9. YOUTUBE
This was useful for when we needed to
upload a video clip and then embed it on
to our blog. We used this for every our
pitch, videos of our audience, voice over
clips and our other short films such as the
prelim, before uploading it onto the blog I
was able to learn how to upload and then
embed on to blogger to make our blog
look professional too
Advantages:
Very easy to upload on to YouTube, embed and then upload on to the blog
Simple to understand, and due to the one account for our group it allowed us
to keep together all our videos which we put on to the blog
If we accidentally deleted our work elsewhere, it would be on YouTube anyway
We could upload a video from the camera to any Mac and upload it straight
away, but if we didn’t upload it straight away then we would have to go back
on to the same Mac we uploaded it to
Disadvantages:
Takes a very long time to upload a video on to YouTube, so the longer the
video, the longer it takes to upload
Sometimes we had to convert our film to QuickTime, but this also sometimes
took a long time, and there were no other alternatives

10. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT
 Overall, what I have learnt from using the different
features of all technologies, is that they have been
able to make our media product better. For
example, without using Garage Band to make our
music, it would have been hard to find something
which fit our movie well. Also, we may have to of
used a song from another film which wouldn’t of
made our media product as original. So by using
different products it has been all for making our
work more professional, unique and original.
 I have also been able to learn how to construct and
edit films, and how to use other features in order to
achieve a final, professional look
