Pros Cons
• First off, we have a video of how to • As I said, there is not much
properly interview someone for a ‘response’ to the initial video, which
documentary. Now, in terms of would help show that the student
research, this was a step in the right (i.e. me) has acknowledged the
direction…but then it was not much information provided by the video
further done to ‘react’ to this
   information
• Straight afterwards, we have the
   interview with professional Docu-Film
maker Nick Hamer. This shows an ability
to work outside the classroom to obtain
information from experts in the field
• This is split into two videos; one dealing
with the interview itself, and the other
with Nick Hamer’s top tips for budding
documentary film makers. In terms of
research, this is good as it provides
   something to react to…
• …which is partially addressed in the
final video, which deals with separate
   focus-groups. These were done in
separate styles of ‘interview’ to reflect
what we had learnt from the interview
   with Nick Hamer.
Pros Cons
• There are multiple uses of quotes • It can be argued here that too much
taken from books written by a emphasis was made on the
particular theorist (e.g. theories, which could have a negative
T.E.Perkins), with content relevant to effect on my creativity as I attempt to
the post. This is then explained in my get my ‘narrative’ to fit exactly into
own words, using examples from the these narrative frameworks
   product
• There is also details concerning three
   major narrative theories, which are
applied to the product, and explained
{which show good research in terms
   of narrative theories, and planning
through the application as it helps
provide an idea of what our final
   product could contain}
• At the end, there is the use of a video
   to help simplify these narrative
   theories, and apply them creatively
to the product subject (i.e. the police
in Leicester). This shows a response
to the research, which expresses how
I understand the concepts, and can
   apply them to our product
Pros Cons
• In terms of planning, the • …however, in terms of
idea is clearly laid research, there is not
out, and summed up much to show ‘where’
through pros and cons this information has come
• Although each idea is from. Although in
different, there are key previous posts, there are
conventions of an action quotes and information
film which are inside each obtained from outside
‘idea’ (e.g. police sources referenced, none
figures), which links into of these appear in this
the ideas I had done post.
research into for my AS • Perhaps they should, as it
  project… shows clearly the ideas
                                 obtained through
                                 research that have been
                                 carried forward
Cons
• In terms of research, this is a disaster.
• Although I have obtained sources of information
relating to ‘current’ events, there is no in depth
analysis of any of these articles
• Response is critical in terms of research, as it
allows the reader of the blog to see that you have
not just sourced external material, but have read
it, understood it and expressed the key points
that relate to your product in your own words.
Here, there are only sources, with a paragraph
comment at the end to relate it to the product.

  • 5. Pros Cons • First off, we have a video of how to • As I said, there is not much properly interview someone for a ‘response’ to the initial video, which documentary. Now, in terms of would help show that the student research, this was a step in the right (i.e. me) has acknowledged the direction…but then it was not much information provided by the video further done to ‘react’ to this information • Straight afterwards, we have the interview with professional Docu-Film maker Nick Hamer. This shows an ability to work outside the classroom to obtain information from experts in the field • This is split into two videos; one dealing with the interview itself, and the other with Nick Hamer’s top tips for budding documentary film makers. In terms of research, this is good as it provides something to react to… • …which is partially addressed in the final video, which deals with separate focus-groups. These were done in separate styles of ‘interview’ to reflect what we had learnt from the interview with Nick Hamer.

  • 8. Pros Cons • There are multiple uses of quotes • It can be argued here that too much taken from books written by a emphasis was made on the particular theorist (e.g. theories, which could have a negative T.E.Perkins), with content relevant to effect on my creativity as I attempt to the post. This is then explained in my get my ‘narrative’ to fit exactly into own words, using examples from the these narrative frameworks product • There is also details concerning three major narrative theories, which are applied to the product, and explained {which show good research in terms of narrative theories, and planning through the application as it helps provide an idea of what our final product could contain} • At the end, there is the use of a video to help simplify these narrative theories, and apply them creatively to the product subject (i.e. the police in Leicester). This shows a response to the research, which expresses how I understand the concepts, and can apply them to our product

  • 11. Pros Cons • In terms of planning, the • …however, in terms of idea is clearly laid research, there is not out, and summed up much to show ‘where’ through pros and cons this information has come • Although each idea is from. Although in different, there are key previous posts, there are conventions of an action quotes and information film which are inside each obtained from outside ‘idea’ (e.g. police sources referenced, none figures), which links into of these appear in this the ideas I had done post. research into for my AS • Perhaps they should, as it project… shows clearly the ideas obtained through research that have been carried forward

  • 13. Cons • In terms of research, this is a disaster. • Although I have obtained sources of information relating to ‘current’ events, there is no in depth analysis of any of these articles • Response is critical in terms of research, as it allows the reader of the blog to see that you have not just sourced external material, but have read it, understood it and expressed the key points that relate to your product in your own words. Here, there are only sources, with a paragraph comment at the end to relate it to the product.
