Evaluation Activity 7
Looking back at your preliminary task
what do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to full product?
Camera Work
• I feel that as the main Cameraman my abilities
between the preliminary and final task has
greatly increased, not only in increased range
of shots and angles I can capture but also in
the success and effectiveness of previously
known techniques.
Angles of Shots
• During our preliminary task the camera angles we used
lacked quality and often we missed objects or cut parts
of the scene.
Angles of Shots
• As clear in this shot, like the preliminary task, we
used a low angle shot to show the main characters
Mise-En-Scene but unlike the preliminary task the
character is much more centralised and because of
this the character isn't put out of focus like the shot
taken from the preliminary.
Camera Shot
• This is a two shot that we used while trying to conform to
the 180 degree rule in which the camera can not cross
over a set area pass the 180 or 0 point.
• This two shot is slightly lend as we wanted to introduce a
new character and show his importance however this put
or protagonist out of shot slightly
Camera Shots
• This is a mid two shot that was used in our film opening,
we advanced the average two shot to focus the reader
on facial expression and to stop any unneeded location.
• Through out the preliminary and final task we strongly
stuck to the 180 degree rule so that the audience
wouldn't be unnecessarily confused.
Editing
• I played a large role of the more in-depth editing
process during the final film opening, like motion
smoothing, audio adjustment and transitions
such as cross dissolves.
• During the preliminary task the editing
techniques we used were greatly limited and due
to a lack of knowledge the clip suffered but by
the time we created the film opening all our
knowledge and ability of editing had greatly
improved.
Editing
• During this scene from our preliminary task we used the largest
range of editing that we used during the preliminary, it included;
slow motion and shot reverse shot.
• Although our knowledge was limited to what we now know these
techniques were used minimally as it was purely used to
extended the tension to build drama, not as a key object of the
scene.
Editing
• The amount, skill level and variation of editing techniques is
clearly improved between the two productions as during the
final film opening we used techniques such as motion blur and
text overlay as well as more advanced transitions and more
effective cutting and splicing, we used all these techniques to
further the emotion and activities within the shots.
Overall Evaluation Of Improvements
• Between the first and final productions we
made, the techniques we knew greatly
increased and the ability to effectively use
them improved as well, this in the whole
allowed us to deeply improve the overall
connection between character and audience
which helped us to conform to the
convections of social realisms.

Evaluation activity 7

  • 1. Evaluation Activity 7 Looking back at your preliminary task what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to full product?
  • 2. Camera Work • I feel that as the main Cameraman my abilities between the preliminary and final task has greatly increased, not only in increased range of shots and angles I can capture but also in the success and effectiveness of previously known techniques.
  • 3. Angles of Shots • During our preliminary task the camera angles we used lacked quality and often we missed objects or cut parts of the scene.
  • 4. Angles of Shots • As clear in this shot, like the preliminary task, we used a low angle shot to show the main characters Mise-En-Scene but unlike the preliminary task the character is much more centralised and because of this the character isn't put out of focus like the shot taken from the preliminary.
  • 5. Camera Shot • This is a two shot that we used while trying to conform to the 180 degree rule in which the camera can not cross over a set area pass the 180 or 0 point. • This two shot is slightly lend as we wanted to introduce a new character and show his importance however this put or protagonist out of shot slightly
  • 6. Camera Shots • This is a mid two shot that was used in our film opening, we advanced the average two shot to focus the reader on facial expression and to stop any unneeded location. • Through out the preliminary and final task we strongly stuck to the 180 degree rule so that the audience wouldn't be unnecessarily confused.
  • 7. Editing • I played a large role of the more in-depth editing process during the final film opening, like motion smoothing, audio adjustment and transitions such as cross dissolves. • During the preliminary task the editing techniques we used were greatly limited and due to a lack of knowledge the clip suffered but by the time we created the film opening all our knowledge and ability of editing had greatly improved.
  • 8. Editing • During this scene from our preliminary task we used the largest range of editing that we used during the preliminary, it included; slow motion and shot reverse shot. • Although our knowledge was limited to what we now know these techniques were used minimally as it was purely used to extended the tension to build drama, not as a key object of the scene.
  • 9. Editing • The amount, skill level and variation of editing techniques is clearly improved between the two productions as during the final film opening we used techniques such as motion blur and text overlay as well as more advanced transitions and more effective cutting and splicing, we used all these techniques to further the emotion and activities within the shots.
  • 10. Overall Evaluation Of Improvements • Between the first and final productions we made, the techniques we knew greatly increased and the ability to effectively use them improved as well, this in the whole allowed us to deeply improve the overall connection between character and audience which helped us to conform to the convections of social realisms.
