The preliminary task taught the student important filming and editing skills like match on action shots, 180 degree rule shots, and using Sony Vegas editing software. These skills helped make the final production look more polished with varied shots. Specifically, the preliminary task experience helped with acting, using equipment, and understanding when to use certain shots to set mood. It also showed the importance of capturing scenes from multiple angles to aid the editing process. Overall, the preliminary task built the student's confidence and skills for a successful full production.

1. Evaluation Question 7
Looking back at your preliminary task, what
do you feel you have learnt in the
progression from it to the full production?
2. Skills learnt through Prelim task
• The Preliminary task gave me the skills to film
and edit through the final production. I have
had some experience of filming in the past but
I still had a lot to learnt to do the preliminary
task
• I learnt how to use skills and shots like match
on action, 180 degree rule, taking multiple
shots of one scene, shot reverse shots and
how to use Sony Vegas editing software
3. Skills learnt through Prelim task
• When I did the preliminary task I saw how
important these shots and skills were to the
final piece
• You have to have these skills and shots
throughout the production as it makes your
final piece looking the best it could be rather
than a bad mix of skilled and unskilled shots
and skills
4. How this helped me in the main
product
• The preliminary task helped us learn the
basics of everything to know about filming
and editing a production start to finish
• It showed me and my group how thing should
be done in the right way and made us all able
of doing each job if we needed to
• it also showed us that we needed as many
different techniques and skills to show to get
the best looking final piece in the end
5. How this helped me in the main
product
• The preliminary task showed me how to use
all the equipment needed for a production
including how to use the cameras, tri-
pods, boom microphone and the editing
software
• It showed us when and where to use certain
shots and skilled to show the mood and
settings of the production
6. Production of the preliminary task
• I think that it when pretty smooth doing the task
as I had been shown all the things needed and
what to do with all the shots and what to do with
the editing
• I found that the easiest thing to do was the
camera work as I have had experience using
cameras at home and about
• I think that the second thing that was easiest
thing to do was the acting where in the past a
have had time in front of a camera on placing like
YouTube and general home and school use
7. How this helped me in the main
product
• I found the acting in the final production was the
thing I was mostly doing as playing the role of the
main character I was mostly seen in the footage
we made
• I used my skills from acting in the preliminary task
to enhance my acting skills in the final piece
where I had to show me acting emotions, moods
and general movement e.g. running where I had
to set the feel and mood of a certain scene
8. How this helped me in the main
product
• When I was acting in the scene were one of the
bad guys slaps me we all suggested that we
should do as many takes and different angles and
shots so that we could create a decent scene
• This skill of taking many shots and angles of the
same scene was used throughout the final
production as we knew from the preliminary task
that taking as many shots as we could would help
us in the final editing process
9. How this helped me in the main
product
• We used many shots and skills from the
preliminary task to use in the final production
piece
• We used match on action in our gun montage
scene and in the chase scene to link up and
replicate as if the shots are actually linked up
in real life
10. Evaluation
• Overall I was confident in both productions
where doing any of the process was a easy thing
to do and I didn’t mind doing any of them as I
could use all of the things needed to film and
produce the film production
• I think that both of the productions when as well
as me and my group could make them. We used
all of our skills which made of production come
out better than we all thought
