This document provides a preliminary evaluation of a project. It summarizes that the author learned how to use a video camera on a tripod, implement transitions, and storyboard a video. It also discusses the success of presenting a range of shots and meeting the brief. Areas for improvement include not meeting the one minute time limit and adding more transitions. In conclusion, the brief requirements of showing characters opening a door and sharing dialogue were satisfied.

2. WHAT I HAVE LEARNT…
•
Through doing this task, I believe that I
have learnt a couple of things.
•
Firstly, I think that I have learnt how to
control and use a camera when it is on a
tripod, especially in the strict timeframe
we were given to complete the task in
and the fact that I have had no previous
experience with using video cameras and
tripods before.
•
Secondly I have learnt how to implement
good transitions into video pieces, as you
can see in the final video.
•
Finally, I believe that I have learnt how to
storyboard a video piece very well,
including all the necessary information
needed to go out and film what is shown
on the storyboard.

3. AREAS OF SUCCESS…
•One of the main areas of success was that we
presented a range of shots. Some of which are
displayed in the pictures, our brief involved a high
angle shot and a close up as well as including the
shots we needed to meet our brief: match on action,
180 degree rule and shot reverse shot.
•Another area in which we were successful was
actually meeting the brief.
•We were furthermore successful during editing, we
were able to add a title, adjust the brightness,
cutting parts out and also in rendering and
exporting the final video.

4. AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT…
•A main area of improvement was that we did not meet the time limit, the brief asked for the
preliminary piece to be a minute long, and unfortunately we did not meet this as our piece was
only 48 seconds long. In future I believe that we should take time limits and minimums into
consideration when planning our pieces.
•Another improvement to consider is to add transitions so that the film runs smoother and makes
it look more continuous.

5. HOW WELL YOU MET THE
BRIEF…

I believe that we satisfied the brief.
The first way in which we did this was that the brief asked that we displayed a
character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite
another character of which we completed. This is shown in the image.

Secondly we showed two characters sharing a few lines of dialogue.
We also met the shots that the brief asked us to include this consisted of:
Match on action, 180 degree rule and shot/reverse shot.
