2. Preliminary Video
• Http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvLSJAfJEes
• When we started the preliminary task, we were very inexperienced with camera
work, this is shown in our preliminary task compared with our final piece.
• In our preliminary task we did not use a tripod, this shows as the camera work is
shaky.
• The editing was also not as smooth as our final piece. Some piece disobey the
match on action rule as there were people walking in the same space more than
once. This also included editing out unwanted background sound.
• The direct lighting in our preliminary task was poor, this took away from the
quality, another thing which took away from the quality of the movie was the
poor acting skills, as there are many parts where I looked at the camera.
3. Final Opening Sequence
• The Opening sequence is much better than the preliminary task. We
filmed on a professional camera, instead of Grady’s iPhone. We also
used a tripod, this is because it would reduce shake. We could also
add sound better non- diegetically than before. We also reduced the
amount of mistakes we made as the only one we found was a glitch
during Grady’s walking scene.
• The acting however was still poor as the same actors were used. In
the audience feed back there were many complaints that the masked
man walked with his arms weirdly. We stuck to the 180 degree rule
and match on action.
4. Differences and similarities
• Better film quality because we used a HD camera and a tripod. No
direct light. No diegetic sound, better added non- diegetic sound.
• We stuck to the 180 degree rule and the match on action rule. We
5. What I learnt
• I learnt many techniques to make a good quality opening scene. I
learnt how to edit well and film well. I learnt how to add after effects
including sound and filters.
• I improved on my skills from the preliminary task.
