1) The student created a recreation of the TV show "SoccerAM" for their unit project. They filmed segments and used editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects. 2) A key part of the project was using a green screen technique for the first time. This allowed the student to transform the background and make it look like they were in a TV studio. 3) Feedback on the finished project was positive, with reviewers praising the accurate replication of the original show and giving scores of 8-9 out of 10. The student was happy with what they created and the various skills and techniques they learned throughout the process.

1. Evaluation – Unit 21
Unit 21 is the perfect opportunity to show creativity and flair for each individual and a chance to
create something unique and individual. For me it was a time to create something that I will enjoy
making and something I can proudly look back on.
Initial ideas
My initial ideas were a choice
between photography and video
production. I believed I had
some great ideas and some
creative techniques in both areas
but it was the one that gave me
the most potential in achieving
my target grade.
Photography
My photography idea was to either create a collage of iconic winter scenes or a
calendar of some sort. However, this project heavily relied on the weather being
frosty, sunny and snowy on different or on every occasion. Seeing as that was very
hard to predict and a risk I couldn’t afford to take, it was the video production I
settled for.
Video production
My video production was always going to be
sports related. I had many ideas all mind mapped
from the beginning but it wasn’t until I evaluated
them all, that I realised that re-creating a TV show
would be perfect. I first wanted to create a
freekick tutorial video featuring myself and my
own football knowledge. However, after some
extensive research, to create a professional and
educational video, I found this would entail some
accurate information and very skilled and detailed
editing techniques. My next idea was to create a
montage of some skilled football goals such as
freekick, volleys and acrobatic finishes. After some hard thinking I found this style of approach didn’t
give me a lot to go on and may have been difficult to give my video a real purpose.

2. The Final Decision
My final decision eventually came, after some deep
research and analysis, re-creating my own version
of ‘SoccerAM’ was put into motion. I had mind-
mapped all the possibilities within this decision and
realised that this choice would give me real
potential to go on and create something unique. It allowed me to be creative, show flair and put my
skills to the test, so I made my decision. It was a long and hard process with time management being
very important, but it all came together in the end.
Production Process
My pre-production was one of the first sections of the unit that needed to be completed before I
began filming and editing, however, my time management towards getting this completed was poor,
and really should have been better to maximise my time
in other areas.
My pre-production consisted of:

A risk assessment

My production schedule
All these aspects were vital before and during filming. I was often referring to my storyboard when
filming different camera angles, and I was always aware of my risk assessment and production
schedule.
Research
My research consisted of finding out everything about a
typical ‘SoccerAM’ show. This included the videos/sketches
included, the music, common camera angles, style of
presentation. This was all completed early on as it gave me
a base to start from and something to go back or add to
along the way. Every time I found something I could use in
my recreation, I would record in on Prezi under my research
presentation. My only weakness to this

3. My Work
All of my work was constructed by me apart from a few copied videos from an original show. My
individual work included filming, editing, research, and script writing and permission letters. The
work that wasn’t my own was the animated sketches used by SoccerAM, such as:
I would have to admit, that although it gives my video a professional finish and an accurate
representation, it is also a weakness or a drawback to my production as it is not 100% my own work.
However I did do my best where I could to create my own titles and introductions:
Technical Skills and Creative ability
Audio skills:
My first real skill that I had to work with was learning and practicing how to fade music in and out of
clips. This was an important skill to master to give my video a professional finsh and to allow it to run
smoothly. I had to watch a few youtube videos to figure out how to insert key frames on a clip and
increase or decrease the sound level.

4. Green Screening:
My second, and very important skill was learning how to use a green screen and importing my edited
clips into premiere pro. The green screen was the most important aspect to my production as it
really gave my video character by mimicking a ‘SoccerAM’ studio feel. This was all a completely new
skill that I had learned through this project and will be sure to put it into practice and develop this
skill with further project.
Adobe after effects:
I firstly had to import my work into the project window ready for use.I then had to drag and drop
each clip and image onto my timeline making sure the video was over the top of the required
background (the seats).
My first challenge was to set up the green
screen. This was the first time I had done it
for myself and it had proved a weakness as it
it was creased in the corners but it still
enabled me to effectively transform the
background.
I then used the ‘keylight 1.2’ effect to change the
background colour from green to black.
This involved using the pipet tool to accurately select the
exact colour green from the green screen and then increase
the ‘screen gain’ to turn the green to black. This allowed me
to work with different backgrounds of my choice.

5. To add the background of my choice, I
needed to drag the previously imported
image onto the timeline (beneath the video
clip) and had to re-scale and position the
background to my liking.
I could also play around with the ‘screen
gain’ again at this point to adjust the
outline and colour blending of the original
video.
Once this had been saved to the selected output folder, I could then import it
from that folder onto my premier pro project, and then dragged onto my
timeline ready for use.
To finish, I had to add my project to the
‘render queue’.
Once this was ready to be rendered, I had to
select an output folder to where it was going
to be saved to.

6. Finished Product – With sources of
information
Original Proposal
Firstly, I believe my finished product is exactly how
I predicted it to end up like, and maybe even
better. There were times during my production
when I thought things weren’t going to plan, and
weren’t as aesthetically pleasing as I had imagined,
but some more research and storyboarding helped
me recreate my work. I stuck to my proposal
throughout the production, always trying to meet
my style, content and audience objectives and
keep to my legal and ethical considerations.
Target Audience
I believe my finished creation is very well suited to its target audience. I strongly believe this as the
style and approach of my video is correctly aimed at a younger audience but also meets the
requirements for the older 30/40 age range. For example, the language used from my two
presenters is professional to be shown on TV but not too intimidating to the younger viewers. The
music that was featured was popular and recognizable to for my viewers and also met my ethical
and legal considerations.
Technical and Aesthetic qualities
My first aspirational target was to use a green screen. I had never had the chance to use it prior to
this project so I thought it would be a perfect time to do so. I had help from my teachers and older
students with more experience. The green screen could have been set up neater and straighter but it
still fulfilled my requirements.
Feedback
When my video was finally completed, I asked my classmates and teacher(s) to watch and analyse
my finished product. All my classmates enjoyed watching my recreation of ‘SoccerAM’, they thought
that the music choice was suitable and the video content was accurate. One even said “this was an
accurate replication of the original show and I would love to see another episode”. I received
reviews of 9/10 and 8/10 after they watched my product. My teachers were also impressed with my
finished product as they liked the idea of using a green screen and the recreated sections of the
original show.

7. Conclusion
In conclusion I was happy with my final creation and really enjoyed filming and editing. The research
was quite extensive and I had to ask for lots of permission to use different songs and sketches. I am
pleased with the outcome as I hope it showed off my media skills, with my editing techniques and
the use of the green screen.
My biggest strength I believe is my green screen use. I am extremely happy with the transformation
from greens screen to a ‘SoccerAM’ studio and believe it gives my video a professional touch.
However, I believe my biggest weakness was the limited number of camera angles, quality of the
videos and at a push, the use of ‘SoccerAM’s’ original sketches. If I was to recreate this production I
would use more cameras to capture more different angles (circled in red) and maybe even use a
proper video camera to capture good quality videos. Because the videos had to be blown up and
repositioned and even stretched the quality was lost and that is a weakness that could be improved.
If I had more time, I would have investigated and experimented with some of my own animations to
make my video 100% of my own work.
Other than these minor weaknesses, I am happy with my creation and I have learned and practiced
multiple skills in multiple areas.
