How we started in the planning and
research stage
 We all managed too learn how too use the provided software through practice as we was all
new too the editing software and was not sure what to do; although we did have previous
knowledge from out prelim task which helped extend our knowledge with the program`.
When we was first introduced to premiere pro we had a chance to practice editing so we had
to complete an edit on dancing animals orJames bond, this was our first
 All of our work is put on a website called blogger and to start using that we learnt how to
write a new post and how to embed YouTube codes so that we could put YouTube videos
onto our blog.
 To practice using a camera we was sent out to record a task which was Juno and we used
cameras and tripods within the prelim task so that when it came to the film opening we
understood what shots to use and how to use the camera to a significant extent.
Premiere Pro
 What we edited on; adobe premiere pro- premiere pro is a hard program when you get started but after a while you get used to using the
software. In the program you can use different effects for example ghosting. These effects can either add another theme to your edit or it
could perfect the image. One effect that we used in the film was addictive dissolve. This effect is more of a transition from one shot to the
other to keep up the fluidity of the sequence throughout.
 The shots that we are most proud of are the shots with the use of the GoPro. To get the shots we put the GoPro underneath the water,
this would add a more natural shot. We decided too use a different type of camera to show that we understand a variety of technologies,
as well as this, the GoPro helps contain a variety of different angles which shows our technique in understanding a range of camera shot
types.
 With adobe premiere pro we could add custom titles which consisted of showing the audience who the production and institution
companies was for our film opening. We also used this too show our main title ’On Track’.
 In addition, we also gradually understood the importance of sound effects and transitions, and we incorporated a variety within the film
opening. We did this too ensure that the music did not over power the diegetic sound and we wanted too make sure that all dialogue was
heard as well as the music over the top. Another reason why we decided too educate ourselves on the IMPORTANCE of the sound
transitions was after we inserted one sound transition we thought it made the whole sequence flow a little bit more efficiently. Therefore
we looked close, in detail, at our sound and made sure all sounds were on the relatively same level too ensure that there was not any
harsh immediate sounds.
 Another factor that we learnt a long the way as well as audio gain and channels, we understood that we could alter the speed and
duration, and this was used within different circumstances. One situation we used this is was too speed up a clip too disguise some
movement of the character and too reduce our time as we was restricted too a certain length of the film opening. Another circumstance
when we used the ‘speed/duration’ tool was too slow down a few actions, for example when we carried out the split screen scene, we
managed to get each movement almost exact and this was due too carrying out the same actions, but also either slowing down or making
the footage faster.
Adobe Photoshop
 When using Photoshop we had to learn how to import files to edit them. For our film
opening we had to show how we would distribute our film to the public buy advertising,
we thought of several ideas such as radio campaigns, billboard posters, a main film
poster, also a trailer, however this is almost similar to our film opening as it is around
the same length as a trailer would be. As a result of this we had to Photoshop pictures
from our film and place them where we thought would be the best location and position
too advertise our film. The first place was on a bus, this was a London red bus that we
photo shopped our photo onto so it would be a banner on the side of a bus. This is an
efficent type of marketing as it would be able too get our film across to a variety of
different audiences, instead of just our target audience.
 Also for our film we had to make a film poster and within this we had too include
information about the film and the release date, as well as including credits on this also.
We used photo shop when making the poster as we had to edit the photo at first and
then add the titles. On this software we also used trial and error with a few different
posters before. As this software was knew too some of us we began to learn about
exposure and brightness, and the effects that this would have on the image. Our main
film poster, we involved a variety of factors such as adjusting the brightness as well as
the levels of colour and the hue/saturation.
 The titles on the poster had to include the credits, so on Photoshop the sizing and fonts
helped with what was needed to be complete.
Prezi and Emaze
 Prezi and Emaze are two types of program where we could make a different type of
presentation. The idea of Prezi and Emaze are that they are interactive and they help to educate
the audience looking at the information on these platforms. To learn how to use Prezi and
Emaze we had to complete assignments of evaluating our prelim and practice edits, this helped
us too understand how to use these different types of platforms, therefore showing our variety
of understanding of the technologies.

Blogger
 Blogger is where we store all of our assignments throughout the two years that we
participate in our a-level; Media. Blogger allows us to store all of our work in different
folders for the moderators to see efficiently, as well as too keep our teachers up to
date with how we are progressing with our work and to ensure that we meet all of our
deadlines. Also it is an easy way of connecting with the rest of your group as they put
their work up and you can look at it and give them feedback on what to include or
take out. Also, blogger is a way of keeping up too date with what work remaining we
have left too complete for our final deadline to be completed.
 On this platform is also our teachers, where they post daily blogs to educate us on the
topics that we have too undertake and the work that we have left too complete. They
give us guidelines on how we can improve or what to include into our work,
 YouTube is used or has been used by millions of people for different platforms
or topics. We used YouTube to publish our videos that we have completed in
media. So that we could use the link too connect different technologies too,
for example, when we completed our evaluations and feedbacks we could place
the links on PowerPoints, on our blogs and other platforms. Once we finished
our practice edits we had to practice uploading and publishing our videos, of
which we exported these from Premiere Pro and we made sure to include
certain properties such as different qualities depending on how good we
wanted our footage too look.
 Not only did we use YouTube top upload we used it for research and planning
as our main influence of the film is Fast Girls. We used YouTube to look at the
fast girls film opening so we could look to see what story line we wanted too
portray, as well as get some inspiring ideas for different shots and titles. We
managed too find the full movie with Spanish subtitles which helped us recall
the events of the film.
 As well as looking into Fast Girls for some clips that we could also incorporate
within our film opening, we used this platform for research and planning. The
main reason why we used YouTube for our research was too try and find a
variety of films that linked too our genre, in hope that we could gain some
ideas for our plot line. As well as this, we used YouTube too discover music that
we could use within our film opening. It took us quite a while too agree on as a
group, as well as finding a piece of music that was not copyrighted.
Cameras
• The cameras we used was one of the groups members own due to the ones that media
provide did not have the quality needed to complete most of the shots that we required
and hoped for. We intended too use our group members camera due too the scenes we
wanted too carry out; the swimming scene, where we required a waterproof camera too
film from a different angle under the water.
• The Nikon D3300 was our main camera that we used for all of the shots. We decided to
use this camera instead of the school cameras because it was a personal camera so we
could take it out of school and it was always there when we needed it.
• What we all learnt whilst using your own camera is that you are used to it so you can
mess around with it and you will know what to do as you may be experienced with it,
also it felt more comfortable as some features on this camera were familiar too our
group members.
• We used the GoPro for some shots such as the underwater shot. One thing I would
improve on with the GoPro is that I would’ve used the GoPro a lot more for some
different shots too carry out a different effect, instead of user the Nikon throughout.
Some of the scenes that our group would have liked too use in our film opening was in
the the long jump scene as the effect this camera would have given whilst Sophie’s
character jumped into the long jump pit would have shown originality.
