Haymarket Media Group
Haymarket Media Group are a privately owned company, which
are currently headquartered in London, UK. They have several
different magazine publications in both business and consumer
divisions.
More recently the company have begun expanding outside of the
UK, this is good for a starting magazine, like mine, because it
would get my magazine to a wider audience, in six different
countries.
An advantage of choosing this group would be that they operate
over different media. They have print, digital, mobile and live
media all at their disposal. This would be great for my audience
as they would take an interest in all aspects of the media.

Haymarket Media Group
Living in the technology age that we are now most people own a
mobile phone, laptop/computer or some sort of mobile device
which enables them to browse the internet whilst on the move. By
distribution my product not only in physical copies but also online
it re-affirms the brand in the consumers head.
On balance there are some cons to the media group. For
example by not having published or distributed a magazine
similar to my media product before they wouldn’t know the
marketing or what shops to put the magazine in and they
wouldn’t have the knowledge of the audience as their magazines
are aimed at a much older audience.

Bauer Media
Another group that could publish my magazine would be Bauer
Media. I am researching this group as they currently publish allot
of similar brands that would appeal to my target audience such
as Kerrang! Whilst being a private owned company which is
located in Hamburg, Germany Bauer own many different
magazine titles which they distribute all across the world.
An advantage of picking Bauer Media is that it already knows
how to market and brand my product as they already have a
similar magazine to mine and would be able to appeal to my
target audience, as they have already done so.

Bauer Media
They also operate over several different types of media such as
Online Magazines, Mobile content, radio stations and music
channels on the television. All of which would be great assets to
my magazine as they appeal to the age range of my chosen
audience.
On the other hand because Bauer also publish Kerrang! Which
is very similar to my magazine there isn’t really a gap in the
market for my product and more likely than not it would be
overshadowed by the already well established Kerrang.

IPC Media
The final group I chose to look at was IPC Media. The media
group was established in 1968 and is current headquartered in
London, United Kingdom; they currently sell over 350 million
copies of their products each year.
IPC would be a great institute to distribute my product as they
already have some experience with marketing magazine similar
to mine, such as NME. Like Bauer they would know how to
distribute and brand my product so my target audience is
attracted.

IPC Media
They are also the UK’s leading consumer magazine publisher
and reaches over 25 million users globally each month. This is a
great fact that I took into consideration when choosing the media
distributer, because I want my magazine to be noticed and to be
seen by users all around the world and IPC already have the
capability to be able to achieve this for my product.
A downfall for IPC is that they already have NME, which,
although not exact and there isn’t an exact cross over between
genres, is still similar and would attract the same aged target
audience for my magazine.

Conclusion
My conclusion is that I would choose IPC media to distribute my
media product. I chose this media group because they would
know how to brand and market my magazine and my product
wouldn’t be overshadowed by another magazine. My product is a
lot more similar to Kerrang! Than to NME which is why I
inevitable chose IPC as the institute that would distribute my
magazine.
