The student created a digipak and poster for a new UK indie rock artist. They took creative photos using unusual locations that showed the musical genre. Through photoshop, they brought the photos to life and made an eye-catching design for the digipak. The student applied filters to make the images pop more and feel unique. While the work met legal requirements, the student feels their time management and research could be improved. They learned photography and photoshop skills through this project that will help in their future career.

that the digi pack I made metthe brief andwentthe extramile as I feel itwascreative,eye catching
and showedthe musical genre perfectly. The posterthatI createdwithitison a par withthe digipak
I created,beingunique. Onthe frontcoverof the album/ digi pack youcan see my maintwoartist
Jamesand Cameronstoodupagainstthe wall smokinga cigarette. Ihave thenphotoshoppedthat
photoonto a pouchof tobacco andchangedthe stopsmokingtag line tothe albumcovername – Six
Pack of Cigarettes. Ithenchangedthe name of the tobacco to the name of the band – Melancholy
Monday. The pouch of tobacco was placedona table surroundedbyotherbitsof smoking
equipmentandtobaccoscatteredaround. AfterphotoshoppingthisIfeltthatit didn’tlookaseye-
catchingas I wantedit to be,unlike mybrief Iaddedafilterontothe tobaccopouch and
background,calledposterframe.,thisgave the photoamore unique andcreative lookaswell as
makingitmore eye-catchingimpactiveandinteresting. Incontrastthe photoon the tobacco pouch
whichI changedto be Jamesand Cameron,Iusedthe same filteronthem, butthe backgroundhas
had the coloursof the graffiti changedandthe filmgrainfilter appliedtothis. The backcoverof the
digipak wasa picture of Jamesand Cameronstoodinthe middle of the underpasswiththe twowalls
of art eitherside of them,byusingmyphotoshopskillsIcutJamesand Cameronoutof the photo
and changedthe colourof the backgroundandproceededtoapplythe filmgrainfiltertothe
background. I thenappliedthe filmposterfiltertoJamesandCamerononlythismade themappear
to popout of the photoas if theyhad dimensiontotheirfacesandbody. Thisis verysimilartowhat
I didto the inside coversasI useda close up of Jamesand Camerononeach side of the inside
covers. Theyare close upshots of theirheadand shouldersonly,theyhave blankexpressionswitha
cigarette hangingoutof the side of theirmouth,I appliedthe same filtersasthe frontand back
cover. I feel thatthe coverI made is ionicof the Indie Rockgenre that myband are apart of. The

restof the world. If conformsto all of the rulesandregulationsregardingasshowninmylegal and

I feel thatmyresearchcouldbe more in-depthandbroadercoveringall aspectsof the Indie Rock
genre to helpmycreate a betterproductnexttime.

2. What are the weaknessesofyour work
I feel aweaknessismytime managementasIdidnot keeptomy productionschedule –thingstoo
longerthanI anticipatedwhichhadanimpact on the final product.
What skillshave you learnt from this unit and is there any skillsyou would like to developfurther.
I feel thatmyphotographyskillshave improveddramaticallythroughmanypractice shotsand
learningaboutdifferentshottypesandhow theymake the viewerfeel. Myphotoshoppingskills
have alsoimproved,thishashelpedme tocreate a more eye-catchingdigipak. Iwouldlike to
furtherimprove myphotographyasI feel itcouldbe betterwithme have increasedknowledgeof
lighting, angelsandfilters.
Conclusion
Thisprojecthas enabled me tounderstandthe deeperworkingsincreatingmusical mediathatis
designedtocatchthe eye of audiencesusingthe genre conventions. Ithas alsogivenaninsightinto
whatyou can do legally andethicallyandanunderstandingof how close youcanbe risqué before
breakingathe law.
Thisprojecthas alsohelpedme tobuildonmyphotographyandphotoshopskillswhichIwill
continue toimprove anduse inmy future career.
