1. -2286000<br />The digipak above shows the Kiss Ikons greatest hits album and it is 4disk. The layout of this is quite unconventional in the fact that rather than panels this album has slots for the CD. This edition of the album comes with bonus features on the CD’s and lives performance postcards of each member of the band. The layout itself is quite conventional due to the fact that this folds up into one thick case and then has the protective sleeve with the bands name and the name of the album. The colours used for the album cover is black mainly and this is quite conventional due to the face that black was like their trademark colour. On the front cover it has the black background with 4 circles each containing each band members trademark sign. Nearer the top of the packaging you have the Kiss logo in the famous red and yellow colour and their trademark lettering. The disks themselves are each a different colour and you can see in the image that where the centre of the disk is, has a picture of the band members face. You can match this to the sign on each slot so you know where the disk goes. I think this is mainly for die-hard kiss fans because if you were not familiar with the band then you wouldn’t know were each disk went. The postcards are bright colours and show each member of the band performing live and these are probably a collector’s item for the Kiss fans. The majority of the digipak is in a dark black colour so with the disk and images are in bright colours they stand out from everything else. <br />There is not really any writing on the digipak apart from the Kiss logo and the name of the album. The font is the trademark Kiss font that makes it stands out to Kiss fans and they would know what it is without even seeing the band name on the covering. On each CD you have got the name of the band and album on the top of each disk and under that you have got the CD numbering. This again written in the trademark font, which is repetitive throughout the digipak. The reason for this is probably that it is quite nice to look at as well as it representing whom the band are and what they have accomplished over the years. <br />As this is a collector’s edition of the album you wouldn’t really expect it to be marketed at everyone. I think that this copy of the album is targeted at die hard Kiss fans. The reason being is that it comes with never before released tracks and exclusive postcards and Kiss fans would want that rather than just the ordinary normal edition. Another reason is that the fact that it is a special edition means that it would be a collector’s item for the Kiss fans and you get those people who will buy anything that relates to kiss. <br />The images on this digipak are really quite plain but they work really well. On the cover of the digipak you have got the trademark signs of the 4 band members and this is because it is what people associate with Kiss. On the second cover of the album you have the four band members standing side by side with Gene Simmons doing the famous tongue thing, which he performs on stage. Although it is not the most complicated thing editing in the world it is subtle and the colours compliment each other nicely. On the panel part of the digipak you have got an image of the band In front of Kiss lightening. This has no real purpose and is probably only they’re for decoration rather than any other reason. The collector’s postcards are obviously a collector’s item for Kiss fans and again have no real purpose to the didgipak but seem to add a bit of extra value to the item. On each CD it has a picture of each band member, which is a nice little touch to the digipak. Each disk has it own compartment and you know where it goes from matching the sign to the band member. This probably would not be in the normal edition and this is a touch for the Kiss fan rather than just the general public. <br />I think that the genre of this is quite apparent in the digipak. You get a good idea from the use of colour and the images used throughout the digipak. The use of the colour black represents a black metal genre of the music, which matches the genre of Kiss. From the images of the band you know that they are quite a heavy, loud band due to the fact that they have the long black hair and the way in which they are holding the guitar in the postcard image. <br />I think that it is quite successful as a whole and the reason for this is due to the fact that Kiss has such a huge fan base worldwide. This album contains so much features that it will be a must have for Kiss fans and as everyone knows who the band are it wont really have trouble selling in the sotres. <br />
