Conventions in our music video
 Artists/Dj’s usually have flashing lights throughout their music videos
 We USED the convention of having flashing lights throughout our video because we wanted to
keep are video conventional in this aspect so that our audience had a key understanding of the
professional feel we were going for.
 Also we decided to use the colourful flashing light so that we could also have it as a base track
so that it gave the whole video a clear structure and so the narrative was not all over the place
 An example of a Dj thatuses a lot of flashing lights also is Marshmello. Ours is similar to many
of his music videos because having lots of flashing lights givesa the audience the feeling that
they are out clubbing and EDM is the main music in clubs
Conventions in our music video
 Artists/Dj’s using comedic aspects in their videos
 I would say we DEVELOPED this convention because it is not that common in EDM music however
there has been music videos where they have added this concept into.
 With our video we wanted to make it a funny because our whole idea was meant to be ‘playful’ and
‘happy’ so we wanted to add comedy into it to give the audience a joyful experience. An example
shown is the pandas laughing at the policeman panda’s dancing
 You can see the comedic aspect being used in Galantis ‘Penut butter Jelly’ as they are seen dancing
funnily in a supermarket. This is one of a small collective of edm music that use this.
Conventions in our music video
 Artists/Dj’s cut in time with the beat when the ‘drop’ comes up
 We USED this in our music video because we believed that this is a key convention that all EDM
music needs to comply to if it wants to look professional and essentially good.
 Cutting in time with the beat enables the audience to get a real feel and grasp for the song it gives
them a fluent and autonomous experience watching it, as it makes it easier to follow and essentially
is more exciting
 In our music video this is an example
 An example in the industry is Swedish House Mafia. They often cut in timw with the beat because it
gives them a fluent take on an event that is quite wild. It allows the audience to experience the
festival in a different way instead of jumping around you can watch it wherever
Conventions in our magazine advert
 Magazine adverts will usually include ratings from different media outlets
 We have USED this convention as in our magazine advert we have ratings. These ratings are
either side of our artist because it makes them stand out. Also it gives the advert a more
professional feeling towards it.
 A reason why we wanted them to stand out is because them being ‘5 star’ ratings this would
increase the sales of passers by if they did not know our artist, it would make them more likely
to purchase the album because it is rated highly from well established outlets
 Delilah uses this convention because it shows that
she is going to be a good listen and shows she is
well liked so chances are she is good to listen to so
people who haven’t heard of her might now listen
Conventions in our digipack
 All digipacks will feature the artists name is larger than the name of the album
 We USED this convention because we wanted to bring as much attention to the artist as possible.
 Our artist is an up and coming artist so we thought that having his name larger than the album
name will increase not only his popularity but his celebrity status and esseintisally sell more copies
of his album in the long run.
 This convention is used throughout the industry mainly by mainstream artists because one of their
main goals is to gain as much sales as possible so that they can become richer. So making their
artists names the biggest thing on the digipack will only enhance this goal.

Conventions in our music video  Artists/Dj’s usually have flashing lights throughout their music videos  We USED the convention of having flashing lights throughout our video because we wanted to keep are video conventional in this aspect so that our audience had a key understanding of the professional feel we were going for.  Also we decided to use the colourful flashing light so that we could also have it as a base track so that it gave the whole video a clear structure and so the narrative was not all over the place  An example of a Dj thatuses a lot of flashing lights also is Marshmello. Ours is similar to many of his music videos because having lots of flashing lights givesa the audience the feeling that they are out clubbing and EDM is the main music in clubs

Conventions in our music video  Artists/Dj’s using comedic aspects in their videos  I would say we DEVELOPED this convention because it is not that common in EDM music however there has been music videos where they have added this concept into.  With our video we wanted to make it a funny because our whole idea was meant to be ‘playful’ and ‘happy’ so we wanted to add comedy into it to give the audience a joyful experience. An example shown is the pandas laughing at the policeman panda’s dancing  You can see the comedic aspect being used in Galantis ‘Penut butter Jelly’ as they are seen dancing funnily in a supermarket. This is one of a small collective of edm music that use this.

Conventions in our music video  Artists/Dj’s cut in time with the beat when the ‘drop’ comes up  We USED this in our music video because we believed that this is a key convention that all EDM music needs to comply to if it wants to look professional and essentially good.  Cutting in time with the beat enables the audience to get a real feel and grasp for the song it gives them a fluent and autonomous experience watching it, as it makes it easier to follow and essentially is more exciting  In our music video this is an example  An example in the industry is Swedish House Mafia. They often cut in timw with the beat because it gives them a fluent take on an event that is quite wild. It allows the audience to experience the festival in a different way instead of jumping around you can watch it wherever
  • 5. Conventions in our magazine advert  Magazine adverts will usually include ratings from different media outlets  We have USED this convention as in our magazine advert we have ratings. These ratings are either side of our artist because it makes them stand out. Also it gives the advert a more professional feeling towards it.  A reason why we wanted them to stand out is because them being ‘5 star’ ratings this would increase the sales of passers by if they did not know our artist, it would make them more likely to purchase the album because it is rated highly from well established outlets  Delilah uses this convention because it shows that she is going to be a good listen and shows she is well liked so chances are she is good to listen to so people who haven’t heard of her might now listen

Conventions in our digipack  All digipacks will feature the artists name is larger than the name of the album  We USED this convention because we wanted to bring as much attention to the artist as possible.  Our artist is an up and coming artist so we thought that having his name larger than the album name will increase not only his popularity but his celebrity status and esseintisally sell more copies of his album in the long run.  This convention is used throughout the industry mainly by mainstream artists because one of their main goals is to gain as much sales as possible so that they can become richer. So making their artists names the biggest thing on the digipack will only enhance this goal.
