Assignment 12
USP of artist
Wiz Khalifa
 He is an American rapper
 In the majority of his songs he raps about violence and gangs
 One of his USP is his tattoos. His whole body is covered in tattoos and everyone
recognises him for it
 Another USP is his jewellery ‘bling’, he is always wearing an expensive watches,
chains and rings
 His USP has not changed over the years of him being an artist. This could be down
to the fact firstly he can’t change his tattoos and the reason for this is it has made
him who he is and his target audience expect this from him as he has said that he
wouldn’t change, this emphasis the way he is portrayed in the media as he
portrayed to be very loyal and strong wild
Justin Bieber
 He is an Canadian pop artist
 His USP has changed significantly from where he was when he started
to get famous to where he is now
 Back in 2010 one of his most significant USP’s was his hair. Everyone
would recognise the swept to the side hair and it became a trend as
young boys would get the ‘Bieber’ haircut. He was seen to be very cute
and he dressed very much like an innocent good looking boy and his
target audience of young girls recognised him for that
 Whereas more recently his main USP’s has become his tattoos and his
style of clothing. This is because through the media he began to get a
lot of bad publicity. He’s been associated as a ‘bad boy’ which the
tattoos and the longline t- shirts highlight
Comparison
 As Justin Bieber got older he naturally evolved so therefore his UPS’s grew up with
him as well as his main target audience
 Whereas with Wiz Khalifa he was already grown up when he started to blow up he
had already found himself.
 Also a massive selling point for Wiz is that he is portrayed as a weed smoking no
nonsense guy and his tattoos emphasises this so if he was to change his looks and
not wear all his jewellery, firstly, arguably, he would not have blown up as much
and also would potentially lose a large percentage of his fan base
 Justin Bieber arguably needed to change his USP’s to stick with the time and
fashion whereas Wiz didnt need to change to sell albums
