A solar vehicle, also known as a solar car, is powered by solar energy collected from solar panels on its surface, generally the roof. It consists of a solar array to collect energy from the sun, power trackers and batteries to store and manage solar power, an electric motor powered by the stored solar energy, a speed controller to regulate the motor, a lightweight chassis, and wheels.
Now a days world is shifting towards electrified mobility to reduce the pollutant emissions caused by nonrenewable fossil fueled vehicles and to provide the alternative to pricey fuel for transportation. But for electric vehicles, traveling range and charging process are the two major issues affecting it’s adoption over conventional vehicles.
With the introduction of Wire charging technology, no more waiting at charging stations for hours, now get your vehicle charged by just parking it on parking spot or by parking at your garage or even while driving you can charge your electric vehicle. As of now, we are very much familiar with wireless transmission of data, audio and video signals so why can’t we transfer power over the Air.

plug in hybrid electrical vehicals seminar ppt by MD NAWAZMD NAWAZ
A 'gasoline-electric hybrid car' or 'Plug in hybrid electric vehicle' is a vehicle which relies not only on batteries but also on an internal combustion engine which drives a generator to provide the electricity and may also drive a wheel. It has great advantages over the previously used gasoline engine that drives the power from gasoline only. It also is a major source of air pollution. The objective is to design and fabricate a two wheeler hybrid electric vehicle powered by both battery and gasoline. The combination of both the power makes the vehicle dynamic in nature. It provides its owner with advantages in fuel economy and environmental impact over conventional automobiles. Hybrid electric vehicles combine an electric motor, battery and power system with an internal combustion engine to achieve better fuel economy and reduce toxic emissions.
In HEV, the battery alone provides power for low-speed driving conditions where internal combustion engines are least efficient. In accelerating, long highways, or hill climbing the electric motor provides additional power to assist the engine. This allows a smaller, more efficient engine to be used. Besides it also utilizes the concept of regenerative braking for optimized utilization of energy. Energy dissipated during braking in HEV is used in charging battery. Thus the vehicle is best suited for the growing urban areas with high traffic. Initially the designing of the vehicle in CAD, simulations of inverter and other models are done. Equipment and their cost analysis are done. It deals with the fabrication of the vehicle. This includes assembly of IC Engine and its components. The next phase consists of implementing the electric power drive and designing the controllers. The final stage would consist of increasing the efficiency of the vehicle in economic ways.
The document discusses flywheel energy storage systems (FESS). It first provides an introduction to energy storage and defines FESS. It then reviews literature on FESS technology and applications. The main components of FESS are described as the flywheel rotor, electric machine, power electronics, bearings and housing. Examples of FESS applications discussed include use in the Porsche 911, transportation, railways, and spacecraft. FESS provide advantages like high power capability and long lifespan but also have limitations such as potential energy losses over time.

- Automakers like Nissan, GM, and industry experts note that expanding charging infrastructure is important to support continued electric vehicle market growth.
- Charging options include residential chargers, public chargers for charging while parked, and fast chargers. Some companies are exploring battery swapping to enable quick replacement.
- Many countries have set targets to phase out gasoline vehicles and increase electric vehicle adoption, including Britain banning new gas/diesel cars by 2040 and India aiming for all new vehicles to be electric by 2030.
Microgrids, Electric Vehicles and Wireless ChargingJeffrey Funk
These slides use concepts from my (Jeff Funk) course entitled analyzing hi-tech opportunities to analyze how electric vehicles will become economic feasible if the right design decisions are made to benefit from the falling costs of electronics. One key decision is the use of micro-grids to enable direct charging of the batteries, which is more efficient. A second key decision is the number of recharging stations and thus the frequency by which users can recharge their vehicles. More frequent recharging means smaller batteries can be used and thus the slow rate of improvements for energy storage densities can be overcome. A third key decision is wired vs. wireless charging. Wireless charging eliminates the time consuming maintenance and fitting problems of wires and thus enables faster hookups. It also benefits from the rapidly falling cost of electronics; the falling cost of ICs, power electronics, and thin-film coils means that wireless charging is likely to become economically feasible in the near future and allow the problem of low energy storage densities of batteries to be solved.
This document provides an overview of train lighting systems in India. It discusses the history of train lighting being introduced in 1930 using axle-driven dynamos. It then outlines the contents to be covered, including the layout, operation, and types of lighting used in different train carriages. The document proceeds to describe the axle-driven, mid-on generation, and end-on generation systems for powering train lighting. It discusses the components such as alternators, batteries, and their specifications. Advantages and disadvantages of each system are also summarized.
Advances in magnetic material, control have contributed to the realization of completely non-contacting relating systems employing magnetic bearings to eliminate the last remaining wear out prone element. Current efforts are being directed more towards reducing the size, weight and complexity of these devices to achieve complete acceptance. The AMB technology has been briefly reviewed including its advantages, components, working principles, cost and performance. Some design and Implementation issues have been also discussed.
The taking into consideration the above advantages, the adoption of magnetic bearings in industry will be more economical, efficient and environment friendly compared to the conventional bearings. The authors believe that AMB systems are still relatively more expensive than conventional mechanical bearings; therefore the massive used of AMB in industries is still prohibitive despite of the many benefits offered. The AMBs will still not completely replace conventional bearings in rotating machinery in the near future. However, AMB can find its place well in a limited volume of high performance rotating machines.
The document discusses setting up electric vehicle charging stations in India using green energy sources. It provides details on types of charging stations, battery storage systems, and ensuring safety and protection from lightning strikes and power surges in the electrical systems. The document outlines the basic principles, pros and cons of each system and concludes that Maglev trains offer a more efficient transportation alternative with advantages like very high speeds and less environmental impact.
This document discusses electric, hybrid, and fuel-cell vehicle architectures and modeling. It begins by introducing the limitations of fossil fuels and internal combustion engines, as well as the development of battery electric vehicles (BEVs), hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), and fuel-cell vehicles (FCVs) as alternatives. It then describes the major characteristics, issues, and comparisons of BEVs, HEVs, and FCVs. The rest of the document focuses on vehicle powertrain architectures, including series, parallel, and series-parallel hybrid configurations, and methods for modeling and simulating these different vehicle types.
Hybrid cars combine a gasoline engine with an electric motor to improve fuel efficiency.
