Introduction :
 Solar bicycle also known as solar e-bicycle is an electric bicycle with an electric motor which is driven by the use
of power from the battery which is being charged by solar energy by solar panels.
 India is land of farmers. It is called so because majority of Indians are directly or indirectly involved in agriculture
activities. Farmers are the backbone of our economy, to increase the capital of our country and also to help
farmers technically we come up with the project “SOLAR POWERED E-BICYCLE”.
 Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for about 58% of India’s population. Agriculture is being the major
source of employment could not provide the economical stability to the farmers due to heavy expenditure in small
area. Non renewable source like fossil fuel which is available scarcely is under huge pressure due to global
situation. By using the solar power which is available abundantly this can reduce the cost of cultivation and also
no CO2 emissions.
 Solar power is renewable source of energy. Bicycle is converted into electric bicycle using solar energy.
 Use of electric bicycle in agricultural field for seeding, weeding, pesticide spray and for spreading fertilizer.
 Reduction of labour cost by using designed electric bicycle in agricultural field.
 Reduction of environmental pollution by avoiding use of tractors for cultivation.
 Design of low cost prototype for use to poor farmers.

 The E-Bicycle offers a cleaner various to
travel short-to-moderate distance
instead of driving a petrol/diesel
powered automotive.
 E-Bicycle use rechargeable batteries and
the lighter ones can travel up to 25 to
32km/hr (16 to 20mph).
 The solar E-Bicycle is easily accessible,
safe and practical with limited
maintenance requirements due to a
minimum of mechanical parts used.
 Using solar panels we can convert
sunlight, which is free and
inexhaustible, into electricity.
 Solar panels do not lead to any form of
pollution and are clean. They also
decrease our reliance on fossil fuels.
 The panels are used to charge the
batteries for required application.
 The rated power output of solar panels
typically degrades at about 0.5%year.
E-Bicycle Solar panel:
 A seed drill is a device that sows the
seeds for crops by positioning them in
the soil and burying them to a specific
depth.
 This ensures that seeds will be
distributed evenly.
 Seeds sown in this manner are
distributed unevenly, which may results
in overcrowding.
 An electric motor is an electrical machine
that converts electrical energy into
mechanical energy.
 Electric motors can be powered by direct
current (DC) sources, such as from
batteries.
 To run the bicycle and to reduce the
human efforts the bicycle was applied
with an electric DC motor.
Seeding tool: Motor:
 An electrical battery is a combination
of one or more electrochemical cell,
used to convert stored chemical energy
into electrical energy.
 Batteries used in our project is lead
acid type because they have good
life, requires less maintenance and
have high efficiency.
 Liquid crystal display(LCD) has material
which joins together properties of both
liquid and crystal.
 LCD can be easily interfaced with
microcontroller to display to display a
message or status of a device.

Working :
 Solar energy is captured from the sun using solar panels mounted on the rear end of the
bicycle. These panels are connected to a boost converter so as to boost the voltage to the
required level.
 The arrangement is further connected to a battery. The battery is charged using this solar
output as the entire power transfer is DC in this case. This battery is connected to a DC
motor.
 The battery can also be charged using a wall charger in case of absence of sun. A brushless
DC motor is preferred here because of no maintenance, high efficiency, and low noise and
also because of the absence of brushes we don’t find sparking in a BLDC motor.
 A synchronized motor controller is used here for the working of the motor. Also a throttle is
used here to increase the speed of the cycle. This accelerator is also directly connected to
the motor controller which in turn controls the motor speed.
 The bicycle can also be run using mechanical pedaling in the absence of sun or when the
battery is drained out.
 The essential target of sowing operation is to put the seed and manure in lines at fancied
profundity and seed to seed dispersing, cover the seeds with soil and give legitimate
compaction over the seed. The prescribed line to line dividing, seed rate, seed to seed
separating and profundity of seed arrangement can shift from harvest to edit and for various
agro-climatic conditions to accomplish ideal yields.
 Seeding tool can also be replaced by weeding tool, pesticide sprayer and for spreading
fertilizer.
Advantages :
 It is Eco-friendly.
 It is less heavier compared to other vehicles.
 It is rechargeable.
 It reduces labor charge.
 It uses solar energy which is freely available in nature.
 It can be rarely used in rainy season.
 Maintenance is required for solar panel.
 It is used in seeding , weeding, water sprinkling.
 It can be used only as an electric bicycle also.

Conclusion :
This project is not only prototype but it is the working model which is designed for the
beneficial of the farmers. It is very much suitable for young, aged, and caters the need of
poor farmers. Its cleaner and you never have to buy gas or change the oil. Thus leading to a
pollution free environment. This bicycle is cheaper, simpler in construction and can widely
used for short distance traveling and abundant solar power is used for agriculture and save
the environment. And we can support the National Solar Mission.

Solar powered e-bicycle

Introduction :  Solar bicycle also known as solar e-bicycle is an electric bicycle with an electric motor which is driven by the use of power from the battery which is being charged by solar energy by solar panels.  India is land of farmers. It is called so because majority of Indians are directly or indirectly involved in agriculture activities. Farmers are the backbone of our economy, to increase the capital of our country and also to help farmers technically we come up with the project “SOLAR POWERED E-BICYCLE”.  Agriculture is the primary source of livelihood for about 58% of India’s population. Agriculture is being the major source of employment could not provide the economical stability to the farmers due to heavy expenditure in small area. Non renewable source like fossil fuel which is available scarcely is under huge pressure due to global situation. By using the solar power which is available abundantly this can reduce the cost of cultivation and also no CO2 emissions.  Solar power is renewable source of energy. Bicycle is converted into electric bicycle using solar energy.  Use of electric bicycle in agricultural field for seeding, weeding, pesticide spray and for spreading fertilizer.  Reduction of labour cost by using designed electric bicycle in agricultural field.  Reduction of environmental pollution by avoiding use of tractors for cultivation.  Design of low cost prototype for use to poor farmers.   • 4.  The E-Bicycle offers a cleaner various to travel short-to-moderate distance instead of driving a petrol/diesel powered automotive.  E-Bicycle use rechargeable batteries and the lighter ones can travel up to 25 to 32km/hr (16 to 20mph).  The solar E-Bicycle is easily accessible, safe and practical with limited maintenance requirements due to a minimum of mechanical parts used.  Using solar panels we can convert sunlight, which is free and inexhaustible, into electricity.  Solar panels do not lead to any form of pollution and are clean. They also decrease our reliance on fossil fuels.  The panels are used to charge the batteries for required application.  The rated power output of solar panels typically degrades at about 0.5%year.   • 5.  A seed drill is a device that sows the seeds for crops by positioning them in the soil and burying them to a specific depth.  This ensures that seeds will be distributed evenly.  Seeds sown in this manner are distributed unevenly, which may results in overcrowding.  An electric motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical energy.  Electric motors can be powered by direct current (DC) sources, such as from batteries.  To run the bicycle and to reduce the human efforts the bicycle was applied with an electric DC motor.   • 6.  An electrical battery is a combination of one or more electrochemical cell, used to convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy.  Batteries used in our project is lead acid type because they have good life, requires less maintenance and have high efficiency.  Liquid crystal display(LCD) has material which joins together properties of both liquid and crystal.  LCD can be easily interfaced with microcontroller to display to display a message or status of a device.   • 8. Working :  Solar energy is captured from the sun using solar panels mounted on the rear end of the bicycle. These panels are connected to a boost converter so as to boost the voltage to the required level.  The arrangement is further connected to a battery. The battery is charged using this solar output as the entire power transfer is DC in this case. This battery is connected to a DC motor.  The battery can also be charged using a wall charger in case of absence of sun. A brushless DC motor is preferred here because of no maintenance, high efficiency, and low noise and also because of the absence of brushes we don’t find sparking in a BLDC motor.  A synchronized motor controller is used here for the working of the motor. Also a throttle is used here to increase the speed of the cycle. This accelerator is also directly connected to the motor controller which in turn controls the motor speed.  The bicycle can also be run using mechanical pedaling in the absence of sun or when the battery is drained out.  The essential target of sowing operation is to put the seed and manure in lines at fancied profundity and seed to seed dispersing, cover the seeds with soil and give legitimate compaction over the seed. The prescribed line to line dividing, seed rate, seed to seed separating and profundity of seed arrangement can shift from harvest to edit and for various agro-climatic conditions to accomplish ideal yields.  Seeding tool can also be replaced by weeding tool, pesticide sprayer and for spreading fertilizer.
  • 9. Advantages :  It is Eco-friendly.  It is less heavier compared to other vehicles.  It is rechargeable.  It reduces labor charge.  It uses solar energy which is freely available in nature.  It can be rarely used in rainy season.  Maintenance is required for solar panel.  It is used in seeding , weeding, water sprinkling.  It can be used only as an electric bicycle also.   • 10. Conclusion : This project is not only prototype but it is the working model which is designed for the beneficial of the farmers. It is very much suitable for young, aged, and caters the need of poor farmers. Its cleaner and you never have to buy gas or change the oil. Thus leading to a pollution free environment. This bicycle is cheaper, simpler in construction and can widely used for short distance traveling and abundant solar power is used for agriculture and save the environment. And we can support the National Solar Mission.
