Euthanasia Essay Topics
Writing an essay on the topic of "Euthanasia Essay Topics" can be a challenging task due to the
complexity and sensitivity of the subject matter. Euthanasia involves ethical, moral, legal, and
medical considerations, making it a multifaceted topic that requires thorough research and a
balanced perspective.
Firstly, delving into the ethical aspects of euthanasia necessitates a comprehensive understanding
of different philosophical and religious perspectives. The writer must explore various ethical
theories, such as utilitarianism and deontology, to present a well-rounded analysis of the moral
implications associated with assisted dying.
Additionally, the legal dimensions add another layer of complexity to the essay. Euthanasia laws
vary significantly across different jurisdictions, ranging from outright prohibition to regulated
acceptance. The writer must navigate through this legal landscape, discussing key cases and legal
precedents to provide a nuanced view of the legal status and implications of euthanasia.
Furthermore, the medical aspect demands a deep dive into the medical ethics surrounding end-
of-life decisions. Exploring the role of healthcare professionals, the concept of patient autonomy,
and the potential impact on medical practice requires a careful examination of medical literature
and guidelines.
Balancing these perspectives while maintaining clarity and coherence in the essay poses a
challenge. The writer must ensure that the arguments are logically structured, and the language is
accessible to a diverse audience. Handling such a sensitive topic with empathy and respect is
crucial to avoid unintentional biases and to foster a thoughtful discussion.

thoughtful analysis, and a skillful presentation of diverse viewpoints. The writer must navigate

Where The Red Fern Grows
A dream doesn t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and
hard work. said Colin Powell. This quote is saying that you can t achieve a goal
without trying. In the book, Where the Red Fern Grows, the author, Wilson Rawls,
shows the theme as hard work pays off. From chapter 5 in the story it says A warm
puppy tongue caressed my sore foot. This Shows that he is a hard worker through
the fact that his foot is sore from walking so long. This ties back to the theme
because he spent so much effort and energy walking all the way to get his dogs. This
is the first example of the big theme of the story. In chapter 9 the story says I can t
leave the tree. If I do,the coon will get away. Hard work pays off is clearly shown
Women s Roles in God s Bits of Wood Essay
1) God s Bits of Wood is an historical novelВ—one based on actual events. From the
novel, to what extent and how did women drive events and what were the differences
between their goals and those of men? Why the differences?
The novel God s Bits of Wood by Sembene Ousmane is an account of the strike
Senegalese trainworkers underwent in pursuit of equal benefits and compensation
from their French employers. In an effort to coerce the workers into returning to their
jobs, the French cut off the water and food supply to the three villages wherein these
events transpire: Thies, Dakar, and Bamako. Ousmane s novel explores the way in
which these hardships evolve the worker s and their families till the strike is
ultimately resolved. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The hunger visible in their children eyes did not cause them to despair and lose
their resolve, rather it helped to develop unity amongst them as they faced this
hardship together. For instance, when Ramatoulaye killed the ram Vendredi, the
meat from its bones was distributed to all those in need. So when the French soldiers
came to collect her for breaking a law, they did not face one lone woman but an army
of women prepared to fight. Consequently, the soldiers were driven away. This first
victory showed the women the strength they had as long as they worked as a united
front.
Women drove events in the novel because with the exception of the first fight
between the workmen and the soldiers, primarily all physical revolts by the
Senegalese were the work of the women. There were three reasons for this. First,
whereas a man physically revolting would simply be killed, it was highly distasteful
to the French to kill a woman or child. Second, this was the most effective manner
for the women to aid the strike, since they were largely ignored and could not
participate in the union meetings. Third, the women tired of scavenging food without
success and watching each other waste away. Working actively to benefit the strike
gave meaning to their lives. Also the French, who viewed the African women as
ignorant whores whose primary worth was for sexual pleasure, also consistently acted
to provoke them. Arresting Ramatoulaye, assaulting Ad jibid ji and her
Racial Profiling And The Justice System
Growing up, I was taught to treat my neighbor as I would treat myself, but as life
unfolded, reality hit, and I realized the world did not operate under the same
teachings. I started to see a world that judge people based off their ethnic
background, not the content of their character. For year s people of all colors,
nationalities and genders have been targeted due to fitting a certain description.
This behavior is referred to as racial profiling and it is killing, wrongfully accusing
and creating division amongst the people and justice system. The justice system
must redesign the policy and procedures, which relate to racial profiling, because it
is not protecting the rights of the people, it is attacking them. Even though racial
profiling has built walls between the people and the justice system, at the same
time racial profiling has driven away unwanted terrorist s attacks similar to 9/11.
Deroy Murdoch states, during a debate, Recognizing that the current threat to

Logan airports profiled these hijackers, they might have been stopped and nearly
3,000 people, who were killed on 9/11, would be with us here today (U.S. Airports

John Donne Holy Sonnets Essay
John Donne
Death is a very complicated subject that people view very differently in different
situations. In John Donne s Holy Sonnets, he writes about death in Meditations X and
XVII. Both meditations use many similar rhetorical devices and appeals, but the
tones of the meditations are very disparate. Donne s different messages in Meditations
X and XVII convey tones of defiance and acquiescence towards death, respectively.
His apparent change of attitude towards death could be accounted for by his differing
life situations while he was writing the meditations: mid life, and near death.
Meditation X , which Donne wrote in mid life, has a very defiant and powerful tone.
Donne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Meditation XVII Donne uses logos to show how death is an omnipresent,
omnipotent entity. His repetition and emphasis of bells, which symbolize death, are
reminders of how death is everywhere: bells are everywhere, therefore death is
everywhere.
The rhetorical devices in each of Donne s meditations do not differ much, but they
create very different tones. Allusion in both meditations to the Bible has different
effects on the audience. In Meditation X death is referred to as thou which alludes
to the Bible which constantly uses thou when God refers to human beings. This
allusion is a further demonstration of Donne s feelings of superiority over death. In
Meditation XVII death is referred to as being an extension of God himself, which
is an extreme opposite from death s position in Meditation XVII , and which works
to create the more acquiescent and passive tone. Relatively, both meditations appeal
to the audience s values of religion and God by referring to the Bible. Irony is
employed by Donne in order to set the overall tone of the meditations. The irony in
Meditation X is that in the end, Death, thou shalt die (Donne). This poetic justice
follows the theme of Meditation X in its defiance against the forces of nature, and
ultimately identifies the tone of recalcitrance. The irony of Meditation XVII is that
death is our onely securitie, which does not
John Bowlby Maternal Deprivation Essay
Maternal Deprivation Studies
The underlying assumption of Bowlby s Maternal Deprivation Hypothesis is that
continual disruption of the attachment between infant and primary caregiver could
result in long term cognitive, social, and emotional difficulties for that infant.
John Bowlby created the maternal deprivation hypothesis attachment. It claimed that
it was essential for a child s psychological health to form an attachment to its
mother figure. He said that the young child s hunger for his mother s love and
presence is as great as his hunger for food. Bowlby held the view that if a child
lacked an attachment to a mother figure it could have major effects on its
development. It was a model, which focused on the negative consequences. Bowlby

In the context of attachment, deprivation happens when a child who has experienced
attachment, is separated for a period from their primary attachment figure.
Privation happens when a child has never been able to form any attachments. The
opportunity to form the attachment bond was never there, so it did not form.
The effects of privation on Genie girl, Curtiss in 1989 reported the case of this girl,
who spent most of her childhood locked in a room at her home in Los Angeles.
She came to the attention of the social services department when she was 13 years
old. She looked like a child half her age, could not stand erect, and could not speak.
She never fully recovered, socially or linguistically. This may have been due to her
extreme early emotional privation, as suggested by Bowlby. It may also have been
for a variety of other reasons, such as that she might have originally been retarded.
The effects of privation on Czechoslovakian twins, Koluchova in 1976 studied
twins who had spent the first seven years of their lives locked up. When they were
discovered, they could not talk. They were then looked after by two loving sisters
and by age 14 had near normal intellectual and social functioning. By the age 20, they
were of above average intelligence and had excellent relationships with the members
of their foster
Extinction of Dinosaurs due to Asteroid Impact Essay
Extinction of Dinosaurs due to Asteroid Impact
Nobody knows for sure exactly how the dinosaurs became extinct. However scientists
have speculated for decades about possible events that caused the dinosaurs to die
out. Possibilities range from asteroids, to volcanoes, to climate changes. One of the
more popular or well known extinction theories involves the belief that an asteroid
struck the Earth, causing devastating effects, and triggering mass extinctions around
the end of the Cretaceous period.
The asteroid impact extinction theory began in 1980 with Luis and Walter Alvarez, a
father and son team. They theorized that an asteroid struck the Earth at the close of
the Cretaceous period, causing devastating effects and mass ... Show more content on

Gerta Keller, professor of geosciences at Princeton University, has recently conducted
research on the Chicxulub asteroid in which she analyzed new core samples taken
from the asteroid site (Botzer 2004). These samples indicate that the impact that
occurred at Chicxulub actually predated the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, which
occurred at the Cretaceous Tertiary boundary about sixty five million years ago.
Keller claims that the Chicxulub impact occurred approximately 300,000 years
before the extinction (Keller 2004). Although previous researchers estimated that the
Chicxulub asteroid was the cause of the extinctions, there had always been doubts
about the exact age and size of the crater, and about the origin of the mega tsunami
deposits that were located within the crater (Keller 2004). The focus of Keller s
recent research was on finding some answers to these questions. To do so she
analyzed Cretaceous limestone, dolomite, and anhydrite deposits as the site of the
Chicxulub crater (Keller 2004).
The fossil deposits at the Chicxulub site suggest that the mineral layer in the crater
was deposited after the impact, but before the extinction of the dinosaurs and other
species. Keller proposes two possible explanations for this. The first explanation is
that the sediments were deposited as the backwash of a giant tsunami that occurred
after the impact (Keller 2004).
Analysis of Million Dollar Baby Essay

Theater 116
January 22, 2011
Million Dollar Baby The film, Million Dollar Baby, is a very powerful story of a
young woman by the name of Maggie. While she experienced a very difficult
upbringing, Maggie had never lost sight of her goals, and is living proof that
anyone can overcome any obstacle that they may be faced with. Maggie s dream
was to be a professional fighter; it was a dream most girls do not share, but it was
her passion. She began attending a gym owned by fighter trainer, Frankie Dunn.
Dunn was well renowned in the world of fighting for his style and persistence and
had brought many men into the ring with promise of a national title, but wanted
nothing to do with a woman fighter. Maggie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Normally, this role would be filled by a man, not a woman. The title of the movie
also struck me as having a feminist message to it, for if this movie had portrayed a
man, the director surely would not have used the term baby . I was really confused
by the title the more I considered it; Maggie was so young, but so experienced at
the same time. I admired her for the person she had become despite being raised by
a woman who was so ignorant and heartless, which also conveyed quite an unusual
role for a woman. Maggie had such an inner strength and a physical strength about
her, and the way she had made the decision to die in the end should have been
enough to win her the title she was fighting for that night, and I m sure that she
could have been better described in other terms. While I am not one to enjoy
movies with any kind of blood and violence in them, I cannot say I did not enjoy
this movie. Watching it from analytical point of view, I was able to gain a message
from Maggie. Man or woman, it doesn t matter where you come from or how
anybody else feels, if you want something bad enough, you should never let anyone
take that dream away from you. Like Scrap explained to Frankie Dunn, in the end
you don t want to be thinking I should have, you want to be thinking I did a damn

Depiction Of Struggle And Division
Depiction of Struggle and Division in Text Throughout this class, the main goal was
to analyze these texts as though we were scholars, and to make connections and
identify common themes amongst them. By doing so, we were supposed to be able
to more deeply understand each text and the argument each was making. Throughout
the readings, the most prominent themes were that of struggle and division, though it
is certainly more prevalent and obvious in certain texts than others. Though all the
texts depict division and struggle, they focus on different societal divisions This
depiction of struggle first became clear during the reading of Plato s Republic in book
I, where Thrasymachus said of justice, Justice is nothing more than what is
advantageous for the stronger (Plato 15). When examined further, Thrasymachus
answer came to mean that what benefits the stronger, more powerful class of people
is what he calls justice. Thrasymachus answer posed a struggle between those with
more power and influence and those who held less powerful positions in their
respective City states. While Socrates overturned Thrasymachus definition of justice,
the discussion turned to government and justice in Book VIII, when Socrates spoke
of the eventual decay of government into Tyranny. In describing Timocracy, a form of
government in which property ownership is required for participation in government
and in which honor is the ruling principle and the man with which it corresponds,

Codes Of Practice In A School Setting

Mia Ham Research Paper
Number 9 Mia Hamm was a two time Olympic Gold Medalist, two time World Cup
Champion, FIFA Women s Player of the Year, and is arguably the best women s
soccer player of all time. She was born March 17, 1972 in Selma, Alabama as
Mariel Margaret Mia Hamm. She scored the most international goals in women s
soccer history until 2013, and has one of the biggest fanbases in sports. How did
she become one of the best women s soccer players in history? This essay will
demonstrate how Mia Hamm made waves in the soccer world. Because her dad
was in the military, he was stationed in various parts of the world. When Mia was
young her father happened to be stationed in Florence, Italy where she fell in love
with the game of soccer (Bosch). She returned back to the states there were little to
no girls sports teams, so she opted to play with the boys (Hamm). She played

continued to analyze Mia Hamm s life, I realized that she is much more than a
talented player. I realized that she was the best in the world and that she was a big
influence to girls around my age to play soccer. If I happen to get a chance to

My Reflection Essay
I ve always considered myself a fairly decent writer but we all have room to
improve. I just like everyone, sometimes miss errors in my writing no matter how
hard I look over my writings. People that know me often enjoy my writings because
they understand my writing style or how I think but sometimes my errors that I miss
deter others from enjoying my writing. I would like for more people to be able to
connect with the things I am writing about, this is why I am working hard this
semester to fix my errors and understand how to prevent those errors in the first
place. One way that I can improve my writing is by being more attentive to what I
am actually writing instead of allowing my feelings to overwhelm my thoughts. I
can fix my problem of losing focus on what I am writing by going back and
rereading what I have already written before continuing on. I need to focus on
making sure that I am writing from a first person point of view instead of
accidentally changing over to second person out of habit. After I personally
proofread what I have written, I should either have a peer edit my paper or use an
online resource from the classroom to help edit any mistakes I may have missed.
Improving the way I write my essays is something I believe I can 100% improve on
by staying focused. One strength in my writing that I have noticed so far this
semester is that I am able to structure my paragraphs in a way that my writing can
easily be comprehended. Acknowledging my strengths in my

Personal Ecological Footprint
An ecological footprint is the amount of Earth s resources that humans use in
terms of how much land is required to produce those resources. By this equation,
people are currently using 1.5 times as much resources as the Earth can sustain
(GFN). Before calculating my personal ecological footprint, I predicted that mine
would be somewhat less than the average American because I try to make
sustainable choices in my everyday actions. I walk everywhere with the occasional
exception of riding a bus for short distances, try to conserve energy, and recycle as
often as I can, however, I eat a significant amount of animal products and processed
foods. I also predicted that because I live in a highly developed nation, my impact

The amount of resources humans currently use is far greater than the Earth can
support, and eventually the finite sources of energy such as coal, gas, and oil will
run out. Even renewable resources such as trees and farming land are being depleted
at a faster rate than they can be naturally replenished. The only way that the Earth s
resources can continue to support the growing human population is if we attempt to
reduce our ecological footprint, and there are several ways to go about this task. For
one, people can find sustainable methods of fulfilling their needs for things like
energy and food. Instead of using so much land for taking care of livestock and
growing feed, farms can focus on growing vegetables for humans which use much
less energy and water. People will have to eat less meat and purchase food that was
grown locally to reduce transportation costs. Forests, farmland, and fisheries need
to be used in a more sustainable manner so that they are not depleted before they
can be replenished. We could also reduce our footprint by making use of cleaner,
alternative sources of energy like wind and solar power instead of non renewable
ones like gas and oil that will soon run out. Although it is not practical for everyone
to stop driving cars and flying, newly manufactured cars should be built as fuel
efficient as possible or be able to be
Meiji Japan Changes
Meiji Japan Political Changes
By Natalie Starkoff
Introduction
The Meiji Restoration, an important era in Japanese history, saw the abolition of the
feudal system of the Tokugawa period and political changes which contributed to
the modernisation of Japan. The political leaders in the late Tokugawa period with
the main source of power were the shogun and daimyo as the emperor was only a
head figure. The new political system that was introduced in the Meiji period had a
great effect on Japan completely changing their way of living. This new system was
responsible for the development of Japan s infrastructure in areas such as railways,
shipping and technology.

The new government attempted to modernize and develop the country in an attempt
to protect against foreign domination; this is shown by the treaty ports of Yokohama
and Kobe and the laws that applied to foreigners in Japan (http:/
/www.japanvisitor.com/). Middle of the nineteenth century, Japan s ruling Shogunate
was a weak, feudal order, unable to control all its own domains, much less defend the
nation against a threat from the Western powers (Afe.easia.columbia.edu). The
Japanese were convinced that modernization depended on putting an end to the
feudal order; a group of middle ranking samurai overthrew the military government
of the Shogun. In 1871, the Meiji government announced the abolition of feudalism
as a form of government and all Japanese all Japanese were to be loyal to the
emperor. Central Government then divided Japan into 75 regions governed by
centrally appointed officials. On the 7th April 1868, Mutsuhito issued a declaration
known as the Five Articles Oath which outlined the main aims and the course of
action to be followed during Emperor Meiji s reign, setting the legal stage for Japan s
modernization and can be considered the first constitution of modern

An Analysis Of Drop By Drop By Vivian Vande Velde
It is a known fact that drinking and driving is an extremely unintelligent decision.
Not only does this affect someone s life by making the decision to be intoxicated
behind the wheel, but also this can completely change a stranger s life. Although
the mind is being affected while under the influence, it still has shown for a long
period of time afterward. This concept is seen in the short story, Drop by Drop .
The main character, Brenda, is in confusion throughout the story about her decisions
to drive while intoxicated. It takes the presence of a ghost and going through a
state of denial for Brenda to come to realization with what she has done. In Vivian
Vande Velde s Drop by Drop , Vivian uses Brenda as a prime example of mentality
from being intoxicated.
Brenda s mind is making her see things that are not exactly real. Throughout
moving into a new house Brenda is noticing several mischievous actions, such as
clothes falling to the floor, hearing a toddler s bike with no sight of kids anywhere,
and even to the point of seeing a ghost. Little does Brenda know, these events are
taking place because of her decision to drink and drive, which she has little to no
memory of. This is beginning to change the way she sleeps, when she notices
something in her bed and runs to her parents for help, I was angry, even though he
was right. I don t know, I said. It doesn t have to be a rat. I couldn t see what it was. I
only felt it (Vande Velde 25). Brenda is fully

uncommon for girls to be playing sports nonetheless baseball. During a conversation

the way he was treated as a child by his mother.
The character s mother portrays female dominance whereas the typical man of the

His presence is only revealed through the messages in the conversations between
Kreb and his mother. While speaking with each other, his mother mentions how his
father would like to speak to him at the office. Kreb neglects and disregards his

Mixed Breeds Vs Purebreds
For the past couple centuries, dogs have been a large part of human everyday life.
We use them as pets, friends, helping hands (paws), etc.; they ve become an
essential part of our lives and we don t mind that. With a total of 525 million dogs
in the world (as of 2012), people have responsibilities of caring for another living
creature everywhere. When it comes to picking one of these companions that we
know will only be around for a little over a decade (about a tenth of our lives!),
people can get very curious about the differences between mixed dogbreeds and
purebred dogs. While there are quite a number of differences between mixed and
purebred, it s up to dog owners to care accordingly and know what these differences
truly mean.

Abstract
Saturation of substrates was a phenomenon that was observed in Part II of the
experiment. This was referenced from later in the discussion. When the enzyme
activity from this experiment was compared to Enoch s work, (Enoch) it was stated
that he found that in certain liver cells of rats, enzyme activity would stop suddenly.
The study proposed that the lower Enoch dropped the substrate concentration within
these cells, the less activity he could record. This proved to both his data and to the
date from this experiment that the substrate was necessary for catalysis, because as
enzyme concentration rose, substrates bound more quickly to the active site of an
enzyme. Once all substrates in the mixture were changed to products, the enzyme was
stationary because it had no more substrate to catalyze. This meant that in order for
the reaction to continue, substrate concentration had to increase.
Introduction
To understand how and why the experiment was performed, one must understand
what enzymes and substrates are. Enzymes are defined as proteins that are capable of
speeding up a chemical reaction by reducing the amount of activation energy needed
to catalyze that reaction (Raven, Johnson and Mason 2014). Enzymes regulate these
biochemical processes
Discussion Questions On Draw Me A Star By Eric Carle
Synopsis: Draw Me a Star is a picture book story about an artist who begins by
drawing a simple star. Once he draws the star he is asked to continue to add to the
star and add more things around the star. He draws things that are under the stars

Mixed Substances Lab Answers
In the lab Mixed Substances, the objective was to see how properties of individual
substances compare with properties of a mixed substance. The word mixture can be
defined as a combination of two or more substances that are mixed together
physically, not chemically. A homogeneous mixture is a mixture in uniform structure
or comparison throughout the substance (Ex. Milk/ Popsicle). Lastly, a heterogenous
mixtureconsists of dissimilar parts and elements (Ex. Pizza/ Salad). A hypothesis for
this lab is the cornstarch and water will mix together and stay in the liquidform.
Conclusion / Analysis
The two materials that were tested and mixed in the lab were water and cornstarch.
After you mix the two, the corn starch grains were no longer ... Show more content on

The water and food coloring did mix into the water because instead of being able to
see through the clear water easily, it became blue in color and harder to see
through the glass. Although the water and food coloring mixed, the cooking oil
and water did not. I am able to show this because in the glass, the oil was resting on
the water s surface and continued to stay separated. When and or if you turned the
container downward, the oil pushes through the moving water in order to remain
at the top of the surface. Since the oil remains at the top no matter what angle the
container is at, the oil has the higher density because it is always forced to the top
of the glass. If soap was added to the list of ingredients and was mixed into the
mixture of water and oil, I think the soap would mix with the water but the oil will
remain at the top and unmixed. The mixture was a heterogenous because even though
they were in the same constiner, you were able to spot the individual substances by
themselves. Going back to reanalyze my hypothesis, I have come to the conclusion
that my hypothesis is correct because I said the water and oil would not mix

Alcoa s Core Values in Practice The Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) was
founded in 1888 as the Pittsburgh Reduction Company. In 1907, they changed their
name to Alcoa and had strong values based culture. In 1985, Fred Fetterolf, then
president, decided the company needed to document the values that all employees
must live by: Integrity; Environment, Health, and Safety; Customer; Accountability;
Excellence; People; and Profitability (Lawrence Weber, 2011, pg 137). CEO, Paul O

This commitment from the top management is crucial to the success of any program,
especially safety. Employees that observe managers disregarding or not reporting
safety violations, create an environment where safety will be disregarded at all
levels. In 1996, health and safety concerns were raised at one of Alcoa s Mexican
faculties. O Neill himself visited the plant to observe these conditions, and although
these concerns could not be validated a number of incidents and subsequent actions
were not reported by local mangers to corporate headquarters. Despite the facility
manager s stellar record of increased sales and profitability and high marks for quality
and customer satisfaction, O Neill fired the manager (Lawrence Weber, 2011). This
commitment to employee safety is unprecedented and shows top managements
commitment to safety. Alcoa placed many ethical safeguards in place to ensure the
company s effort to create a strong ethical culture was upheld. They implemented a
global ethics and compliance program, which included basic elements of the U.S.
Federal Sentencing Guidelines and Sarbanes Oxley Act. An ethics and compliance
officer was hired, that reported directly to the CEO and board of directors (Lawrence
Weber, 2011). Time and money was spent training all employees on their global code
of conduct and continuation training in ethics and compliance.
Justice In The Republic By Plato
The Republic is a Socratic dialogue, written by Plato around 380 BC, concerning
justice, the order and character of the just city state and the just man. It is Plato
#39;s best known work, and has proven to be one of the world #39;s most influential
works of philosophy and political theory, both intellectually and historically. In the
book #39;s dialogue, Socratesdiscusses the meaning of justiceand whether or not the
just man is happier than the unjust man with various Athenians and foreigners. They
consider the natures of existing regimes and then propose a series of different,
hypothetical cities in comparison. This culminates in the discussion of Kallipolis, a
hypothetical city state ruled by a philosopher king. They also discuss the... Show

At the end of Book IV, Plato tries to show that individual justice mirrors political
justice. He claims that the soul of every individual has a three part structure
analagous to the three classes of a society.
There is a rational part of the soul, which seeks after truth and is responsible for our
philosophical inclinations; a spirited part of the soul, which desires honor and is
responsible for our feelings of anger and indignation; and an appetitive part of the
soul, which lusts after all sorts of things, but money most of all (since money must
be used to fulfill any other base desire). The just individual can be defined in
analogy with the just society; the three parts of his soul achieve the requisite
relationships of power and influence in regard to one another. In a just individual, the
rational part of the soul rules, the spirited part of the soul supports this rule, and the
appetitive part of the soul submits and follows wherever reason leads. Put more
plainly: in a just individual, the entire soul
Chemical Processes And Its Effects On The Industrial Age
In order to power the industrial age, humans have burned gigantic amounts of coal to
produce any form of power. Coal naturally contains high amounts of sulphur and
burning of coal produces huge amounts of heat and the sulphur present in the coal
combines with the atmospheric oxygen to produce Sulphur Dioxide. The smoke
stacks of a power plant throw out all the waste gases into the atmosphere which
contains huge amounts of Sulphur Dioxide. It is said that thermal power plants are
the largest contributor of Sulphur Dioxide into the atmosphere. It is estimated that
more than half of the total amount of Sulphur Dioxide generated in the atmosphere
comes directly from thermal power plants that run on coal.
Another anthropological source of Sulphur Dioxide gas as a pollutant is from paper
production. The paper mills that produce pulp wood through a chemical process,
normally combust their spent pulping liquor in a combustion unit. The most widely
used chemical processes are Kraft Pulping process, Sulphite Pulping and Neutral
Sulphite Semi Chemical Pulping (NSSC Pulping). Among these, Kraft Pulping
process is the most widely used process as it can be used to make strong and
durable paper products. This process consists of digestion of wood, or any other
cellulite substance in a solution of sodium sulphite and sodium hydroxide, the waste
products of which produce harmful pollutants including sulphur compounds. Sulphite
Pulping and NSSC Pulping produce paper for the printing industry

Player A throws an angle #1 attack while player B blocks (using the back of his arm
and slashes downward.
This puts him in a better position to pass the arm. A pass goes overhead, if player B
would have sliced upward he would have scooped the arm. As player B passes the
arm overhead he grabs it and slices downward. Then player B returns an angle #1,
this allows player A to block, cut and pass Here player A passes, grabs to control and
slices downward. From here the drill keeps repeating. Scoop Drill For the scoop drill
we are moving in the opposite direction as before. Player A attacks with an angle #1
and player B blocks up instead of down. This allows him to immediately hook his
blade on the opponents arm
What we are looking for is expediency, you would not cut down, then up to scoop as
that would be three moves and the arm may not still be in the same position. You
want to simplify it, by cutting up hooking the arm and then scooping.
From here player B grabs the arm (above the elbow) for control and slashes up. Then
returns an angle #1 attack.
Player A blocks, slashes upward,
The Performance And Reward Management System
Performance ratings is part of the performance and reward management system that
used to support organisations personnel decisions in performance appraisal,
promotion, compensation, and employee development (Yun, Donahus, Dudley,
McFarland, 2005). Accurate performance ratings are fundamental to the success or
failure of the performance managementprocess, therefore, raters have been suggested
to be fully trained to minimise potential errors in performance ratings (Biron,
Farndale, Paauwe, 2011). Several rater training programs have been developed to
enhance the quality of performance ratings, such as rater error training and frame of
reference training (MacDonald Sulsky, 2009). Nevertheless, not all rater training
programs have been equally successful, many researchers have demonstrated the
effectiveness of frame of reference training in increasing rating accuracy (Woehr,
1994; Keown Gerrard Sulsky, 2001; Roch, Woehr, Mishra, Kieszczynska, 2012). The
following will assess the effectiveness of frame of reference training in increasing
rating quality through comprehensive examination of its validity, accuracy and
reliability.
Explanation for Frame of Reference Training
Early approaches to rater training were focused mainly on reducing raters common
errors, (MacDonald Sulsky, 2009). However, rater error training has been proven
ineffective in actual application. Researchers have found that rater error training may
teach raters to use inappropriate response
The, The Unexamined Life Is Not Worth Living
I wholeheartedly embrace the sentiments of Socrates when Plato stated in the

answers. I remember being three years old, living in New York City, begging her
to bring me to church every Sunday. We attended services at St. Patrick s Cathedral.
I can remember feeling so small in this very large place, as I observed what was
happening around me. I remember having a fascination with God and experiencing
a closeness with him that I could not explain. There were indelible impressions
made attending these services that I was not aware of until later in life. The mass

will bring in much needed revenue to the US economy through tax revenue, the
creation of jobs, decrease in the number of those incarcerated for marijuana

Schedule I illegal drug, this medicinal plant has been around for more than a

life threatening disorders that other illegal substances have. Nor does it have the
same effects as legal substances such as alcohol which is used in excessive
overdose can cause poisoning and at times lives, or life threatening conditions, but
its still considered legal. There has never been an incident in which a person who
smokes marijuana has faced this type of outcome. This is also not a physically
addictive drug. By these findings one can agree with Mcgath s essay again when
he stated Congress needs to acknowledge this constituency exists, and stop
legislating as if marijuana smokers were dangerous people who need to be locked
up. Marijuana smokers are simply average Americans. A much needed use of jail
cell space and proper incarceration charges also brings up the issue on tax payer
money used in order to keep this system going. If marijuana is legalized much
needed tax revenue as well as a great deal of jobs would be available through this
bad economical status. As per Nick Gillespie s argument The U.S Should Implement

Female Vs. Male Answers
When faced with fabricated images of beauty on magazines and billboards, the
average everyday person begins to objectify themselves, leading to feelings of self
consciousness and humiliation. Now imagine, that with all the different types of
medias nowadays there are scantily clad men/women everywhere. Covers with
photoshopped images of perfection have now become the new norm and society is
feeling the pressures to keep up. The average American walks past and sees about
3,000 advertisements per day, which can do a number on healthy everyday
individuals let alone people who are considered overweight by society s standards.
This research paper will talk about the results of a body image survey, comparing and
contrasting why femalevs maleanswers are different and how the rest of the world
(outside of oakmont) is reacting to body image controversy. The students and faculty
of Oakmont Regional High School, much like the rest of America, have a distorted
sense of body image, due to the media and the photoshopped models that adorn their
ads.
A survey relating to body image was given out to approximately ____ people. This
anonymous survey first asked them to state their gender, race and age. That way the
data could easily be grouped for male vs female responses. It also allows the data to
be potentially grouped by race (such as American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian,
African American, Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander, and White) however

oatmeal and cornmeal. Once they have eaten enough, usually a week or two later,
they develop their hard outer shell. Mealworms are attracted to moist and dark

Birds enjoy eating the lighter colored mealworms. Because they are cheap and
easy to reproduce, mealworms are a perfect way to feed animals or yourself. The
mealworms stay in the egg phase of life for one to two weeks. Then they stay in
the larva stage for one to three months, which is perfect for feedings. They stay in
the pupa stage for ten to twenty days. After the pupa stage, they are adults and are
ready to produce. It is simply, fast, and cheap to raise mealworms. Mealworms are
often used in science, especially in labs or experiments. Some experiments they
are involved in are light versus dark, diet tests, and life cycles. Examining the
mealworms life style shows the four stages of life in a manageable amount of time.
Overall, mealworms are valuable in every sense of the way. They can be used in

However, the state of Maryland tried to block the activity of the national bank by
imposing tax to all the notes that were issued. The branch manager of the bank in
Baltimore refused to pay taxes and lawsuits were filed in the Maryland Court.
However, the case was brought up to the U.S Supreme Court as the Constitution did
not subjectively describe that Federal Government had the authority to establish a
bank. The U.S Supreme Court led by Chief Justice John Marshall ruled out the case
that acknowledges that the Congress has the rights to establish a national bank under
Article 1 Section 8 in the American Constitution. This shows that the US Constitution
was vaguely described and gave the Congress an insight to pass laws as long as it is

In the Iliad, by Homer, The Dog Who That Bit People , by James Thurber and Pride ,
by Dahlia Ravikovitch, the idea of sympathy is conveyed through characterization.
To our first piece, the Iliad, by Homer. Sympathy is showed in King Priam and the
narrator with how loss effects our character, before and after the loss of loves ones.
On page 152, King Priam said, Hector my son, if you die, what cares I if Troy be
victorious? If you live, what matters it if we be conquered by the Greek? Hear me,
Hector! I speak as your father. King Priam fears to lose what little family he has
left. Sympathy is shown through King Priam trying to be a better father, and not
losing Hector as he did with his daughters and other sons. The heartbreak is there
and you can feel it. His heart cannot afford any more loss and sorrow. Another
place that shows sympathy through characterization is on page 153. The narrator
reads: ...when the news reached the King Priam, Hector s father, the old man s
heart nearly breaks . As I have stated earlier, King Priam was scared to lose what
little family he had left, now the author tells of the pain Priam feels for losing his
son, it helps pull sympathy from the reader. When you have lost so much

Pingpank determined that regional treatment is the most effective therapy for
destroying peritoneal mesothelioma without damaging surrounding healthy tissue.
Regional therapy focuses cancer treatment on a locally affected area. An example of
this would be a chemotherapy treatment for pleural mesothelioma where a doctor
injects the drug into the pleural space. In this case, regional therapy allows for
greater doses of medication, which improves the medication s effectiveness while
sparing the rest of the body from chemotherapy side effects.
Dr. Pingpank strongly supports treating peritoneal mesothelioma with cytoreduction
surgery followed by heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), where hot
chemotherapy drugs are administered directly into the abdomen.
He is a member of several professional organizations, such as the American Society
for Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research and the
Association for Academic Surgery.
Dr. Pingpank is also an associate professor of surgery at the University of Pittsburgh
School of Medicine (UPMC). UPMC is home to the national mesothelioma tissue
bank, which keeps tissue samples from across the country to use for research to

The State Should Increase College Textbooks
Are you a college student who breaks the bank just satisfy a syllabus by purchasing
a textbook that cost a small fortune? These are the time to take actions and explore
possibilities by subsidizing or putting a stop to costly textbooks. College books are
becoming so expensive that students are risking their grade by not purchasing one for
the semester. This financial burden is common throughout the United States and
there should be more programs to allow students to become successful without
having to stress about purchasing or renting a book. Students also rely on borrowing
or sacrifice quality by not buying a textbookin order to be successful without the
necessary book. Over the last 30 years, the value of college textbookshave risen...

providing free textbooks can financially help students who also have to pay for

Overall, textbooks are expensive and sometimes aren t even opened throughout the

have to worry about tuition and other day living expenses to make ends meet. The
budget of an average college students is mostly spent on textbooks alone each year

in the state of Nebraska are continuing to encourage students to purchase a book in
order to be successful in that class. With that being said, many

The Cost of Pharmaceuticals: Prescription Drug Prices and Retail Mark Up
Diandra Hopkins American Public University Anyone who has purchased
prescription medication has probably wondered why they cost so much. The
pharmaceutical industry consist of thousands of firms engaged in one or several
functions of discovering, developing, manufacturing and marketing medicines for
human use. The price paid to a retail pharmacy for a drug is negotiated by the PBM
(Pharmacy Benefit Manager) and the pharmacy or pharmacy chain. The pharmacy is
left with an option of refusing the business, raising its prices for cash customers or
reducing its operation margin. Rising prices for goods encourage producers to find
ways of supplying more also guiding purchasers to switch to cheaper alternatives. The
price mechanism encourages the productive and careful employment of scarce
resources and directs innovative efforts where they are most needed. Analyses of
pharmaceutical pricing are complicated by the intricacies of this market. The process
by which drug prices are determined is highly complex, involving numerous
interactions and arrangements among manufacturers, whole salers ,retailers, insurers,
pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and consumers. There are many instances, a
manufacturer will provide a cash rebate to an insurer or PBM if the manufacturer s
drugs are used by the insurer s or PBM s enrollee. Consequently, information about

Essay On Biographies Of Hegemony And The Naked Citadel
In both essays Biographies of Hegemony by Karen Ho and The Naked Citadel by
Susan Faludi, there are two higher institutions, which would be Wall Street and the
Citadel. Both of their goals is to remold an individual to fit their criteria. Each
individual has a certain identity and presents themselves in a specific way. People are
known to change due to influences in their everyday lives, which eventually changes
their identities into someone completely different. In these two essays, it becomes
evident that because of the pressures put upon people by these hierarchies, people
unconsciously change and are shaped into new individuals while hiding their true
identities. Any personcan be completely stripped of their old identities by falling...

In the Naked Citadel, the boy s identity is essentially being performed. They are
distinguished as superior non feminine men, while behind the scenes they are
typically performing feminine acts. Violently harassing the young knobs,
showering together, and making their beds together was where they could show
their true selves. Faludi mentions how the result is ruthless intimacy, in which
physical abuse stands in for physical affection, and every display of affection must
be counterbalanced by a display of sadism (Faludi, 100). The boys become so
infatuated with showing their feminine side that when they snap back to reality
they realize it is a sign of weakness and use anger to feel relief. The Cadets act like
they are on a stage playing a role in a play much like the Treehouse where men
dress up as Drag Queens. Both identities are being performed, which means while
playing a role you are still truly yourself. This is also seen in Biographies of
Hegemony, while Princeton and Harvard students are getting recruited, they put on
this elite, smart act of attraction to be a part of this high institution of Wall Street. It is
claimed that the most distinguishing features of investment banking are their
smartness and exclusivity (Ho, 166). This shows how by putting themselves in a

Barno s Role In The Military
After reading these pieces it was easy to speculate that the authors are of adult age
with some degree of higher education based off of the fact their work is published as
a respected opinion. The authors either mentioned attending prestigious events or
schools. Rini, attended Georgetown University, and I can suspect Barno, is military
affiliated by his mentions to the event of for governor, Tom Ridge, and his extensive
knowledge on the military. I would assume the authors range anywhere from early
forties to early fifties. This can be supported by mentions such as, when Goldberger
states, I don t miss the age when phone charges were based on distance... (4) and the
fact he mentions the old telephone exchanges which were discontinued in... Show

As for in A New Moral Compact, Barno truly moved me by making a case worth
defending and giving some serious consideration. When Barno questions the audience
, ...where is the moral hazard the personal equity stake that shapes our collective
judgement (17) personally, I took a moment and really reflected on his argument.
This leads me to say he was successful in his intended purpose due to having me
take carefully consideration not just in his claim but in the logistics of our present
military. Finally, in the piece written by Rini, I can understand her points and she
clearly states her audience while closing her point by asking, ...does continuing to
apply the name of such a person express our values, rather than the values of a gone
generation? (24). By asking this she narrows her audience to those specifically in
today s generation asking them to involve themselves in such ideas and thoughts.
Rini s main focus is convincing you to be an active voice by moving, you to agree,
as an act of civic love (25). The readings all address current issues despite whenever
they were written it still holds true and successfully engaged me in critical thought.
When questioning the credibility of the authors, I took into account if the material
was up to date and if the author s opinions had merit. Since we were told to do this
discussion without researching them I focused
The Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy ( Rebt ) Exercise
REBT Counseling Exercise The Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT)
exercise focuses on stress the client is experiencing in their life. REBT is effective
in teaching people how to effectively manage stress through changing irrational
beliefs. Stress is present in everyday issues and every person experiences on a daily
basis. Stress is different from neurotic or emotional problems because the irrational
belief created from stress related events which are short term and identifiable events
(Abrams Ellis, 1994). The stress related to neurotic or emotional problems are
routine result in distorted thoughts for the individual (Abrams Ellis, 1994). REBT is
successful for everyday stress and not stress related to a psychological disorder....

The REBT therapy are based on ABCDE model. The A is the activating event, B is
the irrational belief about an event, C is the emotional result which is upsetting to
the person, D is the process of disputing irrational ideas, and E is a newly formed
emotional effect or consequence (Ellis, 2012). REBT stress reduction are based on
changing beliefs and thoughts about the event (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden,
2014). The first part of stress reduction with REBT is locating if the beliefs are
rational or irrational. This will be assessed by the client s perception of the
situation. The first step is determining the activating event and the emotional
consequence of the event. If the client is using should and demandingness (success
and approval for everything), awfulizing, blaming, rating, and overgeneralizing it
will only add to their stress level (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden, 2014). The next step
is to help the client realize they are participating in these behaviors and help them
change their beliefs (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden, 2014). When the client disputes
their beliefs and able to form new emotional effects, they can reduce their stress
level (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden, 2014). Worksheet REBT is based on ABCDE
model. The best approach it implementing the ABCDE model with stress in the form
of a worksheet (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden, 2014). The worksheet outlines the
ABCDE model (Appendix A). The client can first
A List of Definitions of Plant Parts
Flowers: It s all about pollen and pollination. When an animal or an insect like the
bee carries pollen, it goes from the stamen to the pistil. As a result, the flowers could
mate and reproduce.
Conifers: it s similar to flowers, but it s not by animals. The wind carries the pollen
from the plant to cones. If both parts combine, they can reproduce.
Spores: The plants use sexual reproduction with the haploid cell of one plant, and the
haploid egg of another plant. It makes a sporophyte cell, which feeds off of the
parent plant until it is mature, and they are release in the air to reproduce.
Non vascular plants are plants that do not have specialized tissues, and as a result, it
can t absorb nutrients. they draw water through their cell walls, and water reaches all
of the cells in the plant through a process called osmosis.
The cell walls contains vital needs for a plant, but it has a disadvantage. They need
water for fertilizations. The sperm must swim to the egg. They are usually not taller
than 20 centimeters, for it can t get a boat load of food. Examples include mosses,
liverworts, and hornworts.
Flowers can feed many living things, and it provides natural medicines for humans
and some animals. Without it, some additional people might be feeling sick. It s
useful in a plant s reproduction by appealing outside pollinators. When the animals
come, it pollinates the flower. Pollen is transported from the stamens to the pistils. It
s used as a nectar for birds, bats,
Take The Wicker Man Analysis
Sometimes it s hard to define a particular horror movie s genre, but in an attempt to
sort through the confusion, I m going to provide an explanation of both the basic
genres in horror, of which there are about 4 with closely related branches in their
family tree. Often horror movies tend to fuse different filmgenreelements together to
create a horrific masterpiece, or just something awful to watch that ends in disaster. I
m not talking about the movie plot itself, but those failed attempts at crafting
masterful cinema. Take the Wicker Man, for instance. This film includes elements of
psychological horror, fantasy, macabre, thriller, and even exploitation horror.
Basic Horror Genres

Prime examples are Dead Alive, Evil Dead 1 2, and Army of Darkness.
Exploitation Horror Exploitation horror films generally exhibit blood, guts, and
gore for the sake of provoking a shocking reaction in these horrific movies. Splatter
flicks (I Spit on Your Grave) are included in this genre, often along with cannibal (We
Are What We Are), sexual deviancy (A Serbian Film), murderous cult (Bless the
Child), and backwoods psycho motifs (House of 1,000 Corpses the Devils Reject)
running through them.
Urban Legends Often urban legends come in the form of a horror anthology,
which is a set of stories that can be related on unrelated that are typically short and
told by a person in a position of wisdom, such as Jud Crandall in Pet Cemetary, who
is a very elderly, local man who provides information that to live becomes quite
valuable to Dr. Creed, as a new town resident.
Urban legends aren t always a story told in an anthology form. Often, a good urban
legend or horrific folktale has enough detail to be a decent horror story on it s own.

The Causes And Effects Of Distracted Driving In California
Every year, about four hundred twenty one thousand people are injured in a car
crash involving distracted driving. In the United States alone, nine people are killed
and over one thousand are injured every day in a car accident involving a distracted
driver. Distracted driving is responsible for the majority of accidentsthat take place in
the state of California. The rapidly increasing rate of fatality occurring in California
proves distracted drivinghas become a fatal epidemic. Alike a disease that has the
ability to wipe out an entire population, distracted driving has proven to be equally as
devastating. Many people may argue that the laws currently in place in California is
all that can be done to eliminate or minimize the trauma that results from the issue.
Although, the thousands of people who have lost their loved ones to car accidents
involving a distracted driver would have to disagree. The state of California certainly
has not done enough to prevent distracted driving nor enforce punishment upon those
responsible. At first glance, many people believe that the state of California has done
enough to prevent distracted driving. California has multiple laws currently in effect
that prevent and limit distracted driving. California governor, Jerry Brown, has
addressed the issue that continues to escalate as fatalities multiply. He has stated his
opinions and plans for further prevention and action to be taken. Most recently,
Brown signed the Assembly Bill 1785 that
Population Growth in Perspective Essays
Population Growth in Perspective
Introduction
To anyone even remotely acquainted with the situation, the ever expanding world
population can easily be a cause of grave concern. Indeed, the simple realization that
the total world population will most likely be doubling within the next century may
seem to imply catastrophe. Considering the strain our current huge population puts
on the world, is it not natural to presume that two times our number will spell
disaster? While this is the view held by many prominent voices, there also is a less
noticed group of people who contend that the resiliency of the earth and the ingenuity
of its people will keep the planet a decent place to live.
In this paper, I attempt to critically examine ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Generally, people have operated under the assumption that the world was (or was on
its way to being) overpopulated.
I began my research in this topic with the same outlook. I initially wanted to research
overpopulation because I was deeply concerned with its implications. I wanted to
understand the causes of population growth and to learn what might be done to
ameliorate the problem. Soon into the research, however, I happened upon pieces of
literature opposing the idea of an overpopulation crisis and immediately respected
certain aspects of their arguments. Quickly, I was forced to change the scope of my
question from what will be the consequences of overpopulation? to what exactly does
overpopulation mean? and does an overpopulation problem even exist? .
History of Population Crises
The seed of my doubt that an overpopulation crisis was imminent was planted when
I began to examine the historical record of population concerns. As a history major, I
have at least some respect for patterns in history. While I recognize that new things
can emerge, often a current event is a variant on an earlier expressed theme.
Regarding population, the first documented concerns over population size date from
a Babylonian epic from 1600 BC (Cohen, 1995). More writings on the topic across
the globe have continued since then, themselves probably increasing at a rate faster
than the

  • 2. Where The Red Fern Grows A dream doesn t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination, and hard work. said Colin Powell. This quote is saying that you can t achieve a goal without trying. In the book, Where the Red Fern Grows, the author, Wilson Rawls, shows the theme as hard work pays off. From chapter 5 in the story it says A warm puppy tongue caressed my sore foot. This Shows that he is a hard worker through the fact that his foot is sore from walking so long. This ties back to the theme because he spent so much effort and energy walking all the way to get his dogs. This is the first example of the big theme of the story. In chapter 9 the story says I can t leave the tree. If I do,the coon will get away. Hard work pays off is clearly shown
  • 3. Women s Roles in God s Bits of Wood Essay 1) God s Bits of Wood is an historical novelВ—one based on actual events. From the novel, to what extent and how did women drive events and what were the differences between their goals and those of men? Why the differences? The novel God s Bits of Wood by Sembene Ousmane is an account of the strike Senegalese trainworkers underwent in pursuit of equal benefits and compensation from their French employers. In an effort to coerce the workers into returning to their jobs, the French cut off the water and food supply to the three villages wherein these events transpire: Thies, Dakar, and Bamako. Ousmane s novel explores the way in which these hardships evolve the worker s and their families till the strike is ultimately resolved. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The hunger visible in their children eyes did not cause them to despair and lose their resolve, rather it helped to develop unity amongst them as they faced this hardship together. For instance, when Ramatoulaye killed the ram Vendredi, the meat from its bones was distributed to all those in need. So when the French soldiers came to collect her for breaking a law, they did not face one lone woman but an army of women prepared to fight. Consequently, the soldiers were driven away. This first victory showed the women the strength they had as long as they worked as a united front. Women drove events in the novel because with the exception of the first fight between the workmen and the soldiers, primarily all physical revolts by the Senegalese were the work of the women. There were three reasons for this. First, whereas a man physically revolting would simply be killed, it was highly distasteful to the French to kill a woman or child. Second, this was the most effective manner for the women to aid the strike, since they were largely ignored and could not participate in the union meetings. Third, the women tired of scavenging food without success and watching each other waste away. Working actively to benefit the strike gave meaning to their lives. Also the French, who viewed the African women as ignorant whores whose primary worth was for sexual pleasure, also consistently acted to provoke them. Arresting Ramatoulaye, assaulting Ad jibid ji and her
  • 4. Racial Profiling And The Justice System Growing up, I was taught to treat my neighbor as I would treat myself, but as life unfolded, reality hit, and I realized the world did not operate under the same teachings. I started to see a world that judge people based off their ethnic background, not the content of their character. For year s people of all colors, nationalities and genders have been targeted due to fitting a certain description. This behavior is referred to as racial profiling and it is killing, wrongfully accusing and creating division amongst the people and justice system. The justice system must redesign the policy and procedures, which relate to racial profiling, because it is not protecting the rights of the people, it is attacking them. Even though racial profiling has built walls between the people and the justice system, at the same time racial profiling has driven away unwanted terrorist s attacks similar to 9/11. Deroy Murdoch states, during a debate, Recognizing that the current threat to passengers and airliners comes almost exclusively from one source, and we all know what it is young male between 18 and 35 who practice a fundamentalist strain of Islamic faith... had the security personnel at Newark, Dulles, or Boston Logan airports profiled these hijackers, they might have been stopped and nearly 3,000 people, who were killed on 9/11, would be with us here today (U.S. Airports Debate). No one wants to have their loved ones taken away abruptly, like the victims of 9/11. The events that
  • 5. John Donne Holy Sonnets Essay John Donne Death is a very complicated subject that people view very differently in different situations. In John Donne s Holy Sonnets, he writes about death in Meditations X and XVII. Both meditations use many similar rhetorical devices and appeals, but the tones of the meditations are very disparate. Donne s different messages in Meditations X and XVII convey tones of defiance and acquiescence towards death, respectively. His apparent change of attitude towards death could be accounted for by his differing life situations while he was writing the meditations: mid life, and near death. Meditation X , which Donne wrote in mid life, has a very defiant and powerful tone. Donne ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Meditation XVII Donne uses logos to show how death is an omnipresent, omnipotent entity. His repetition and emphasis of bells, which symbolize death, are reminders of how death is everywhere: bells are everywhere, therefore death is everywhere. The rhetorical devices in each of Donne s meditations do not differ much, but they create very different tones. Allusion in both meditations to the Bible has different effects on the audience. In Meditation X death is referred to as thou which alludes to the Bible which constantly uses thou when God refers to human beings. This allusion is a further demonstration of Donne s feelings of superiority over death. In Meditation XVII death is referred to as being an extension of God himself, which is an extreme opposite from death s position in Meditation XVII , and which works to create the more acquiescent and passive tone. Relatively, both meditations appeal to the audience s values of religion and God by referring to the Bible. Irony is employed by Donne in order to set the overall tone of the meditations. The irony in Meditation X is that in the end, Death, thou shalt die (Donne). This poetic justice follows the theme of Meditation X in its defiance against the forces of nature, and ultimately identifies the tone of recalcitrance. The irony of Meditation XVII is that death is our onely securitie, which does not
  • 6. John Bowlby Maternal Deprivation Essay Maternal Deprivation Studies The underlying assumption of Bowlby s Maternal Deprivation Hypothesis is that continual disruption of the attachment between infant and primary caregiver could result in long term cognitive, social, and emotional difficulties for that infant. John Bowlby created the maternal deprivation hypothesis attachment. It claimed that it was essential for a child s psychological health to form an attachment to its mother figure. He said that the young child s hunger for his mother s love and presence is as great as his hunger for food. Bowlby held the view that if a child lacked an attachment to a mother figure it could have major effects on its development. It was a model, which focused on the negative consequences. Bowlby ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the context of attachment, deprivation happens when a child who has experienced attachment, is separated for a period from their primary attachment figure. Privation happens when a child has never been able to form any attachments. The opportunity to form the attachment bond was never there, so it did not form. The effects of privation on Genie girl, Curtiss in 1989 reported the case of this girl, who spent most of her childhood locked in a room at her home in Los Angeles. She came to the attention of the social services department when she was 13 years old. She looked like a child half her age, could not stand erect, and could not speak. She never fully recovered, socially or linguistically. This may have been due to her extreme early emotional privation, as suggested by Bowlby. It may also have been for a variety of other reasons, such as that she might have originally been retarded. The effects of privation on Czechoslovakian twins, Koluchova in 1976 studied twins who had spent the first seven years of their lives locked up. When they were discovered, they could not talk. They were then looked after by two loving sisters and by age 14 had near normal intellectual and social functioning. By the age 20, they were of above average intelligence and had excellent relationships with the members of their foster
  • 7. Extinction of Dinosaurs due to Asteroid Impact Essay Extinction of Dinosaurs due to Asteroid Impact Nobody knows for sure exactly how the dinosaurs became extinct. However scientists have speculated for decades about possible events that caused the dinosaurs to die out. Possibilities range from asteroids, to volcanoes, to climate changes. One of the more popular or well known extinction theories involves the belief that an asteroid struck the Earth, causing devastating effects, and triggering mass extinctions around the end of the Cretaceous period. The asteroid impact extinction theory began in 1980 with Luis and Walter Alvarez, a father and son team. They theorized that an asteroid struck the Earth at the close of the Cretaceous period, causing devastating effects and mass ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Gerta Keller, professor of geosciences at Princeton University, has recently conducted research on the Chicxulub asteroid in which she analyzed new core samples taken from the asteroid site (Botzer 2004). These samples indicate that the impact that occurred at Chicxulub actually predated the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, which occurred at the Cretaceous Tertiary boundary about sixty five million years ago. Keller claims that the Chicxulub impact occurred approximately 300,000 years before the extinction (Keller 2004). Although previous researchers estimated that the Chicxulub asteroid was the cause of the extinctions, there had always been doubts about the exact age and size of the crater, and about the origin of the mega tsunami deposits that were located within the crater (Keller 2004). The focus of Keller s recent research was on finding some answers to these questions. To do so she analyzed Cretaceous limestone, dolomite, and anhydrite deposits as the site of the Chicxulub crater (Keller 2004). The fossil deposits at the Chicxulub site suggest that the mineral layer in the crater was deposited after the impact, but before the extinction of the dinosaurs and other species. Keller proposes two possible explanations for this. The first explanation is that the sediments were deposited as the backwash of a giant tsunami that occurred after the impact (Keller 2004).
  • 8. Analysis of Million Dollar Baby Essay Amberly Ebelsheiser Prof. Owens Theater 116 January 22, 2011 Million Dollar Baby The film, Million Dollar Baby, is a very powerful story of a young woman by the name of Maggie. While she experienced a very difficult upbringing, Maggie had never lost sight of her goals, and is living proof that anyone can overcome any obstacle that they may be faced with. Maggie s dream was to be a professional fighter; it was a dream most girls do not share, but it was her passion. She began attending a gym owned by fighter trainer, Frankie Dunn. Dunn was well renowned in the world of fighting for his style and persistence and had brought many men into the ring with promise of a national title, but wanted nothing to do with a woman fighter. Maggie ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Normally, this role would be filled by a man, not a woman. The title of the movie also struck me as having a feminist message to it, for if this movie had portrayed a man, the director surely would not have used the term baby . I was really confused by the title the more I considered it; Maggie was so young, but so experienced at the same time. I admired her for the person she had become despite being raised by a woman who was so ignorant and heartless, which also conveyed quite an unusual role for a woman. Maggie had such an inner strength and a physical strength about her, and the way she had made the decision to die in the end should have been enough to win her the title she was fighting for that night, and I m sure that she could have been better described in other terms. While I am not one to enjoy movies with any kind of blood and violence in them, I cannot say I did not enjoy this movie. Watching it from analytical point of view, I was able to gain a message from Maggie. Man or woman, it doesn t matter where you come from or how anybody else feels, if you want something bad enough, you should never let anyone take that dream away from you. Like Scrap explained to Frankie Dunn, in the end you don t want to be thinking I should have, you want to be thinking I did a damn good
  • 9. Depiction Of Struggle And Division Depiction of Struggle and Division in Text Throughout this class, the main goal was to analyze these texts as though we were scholars, and to make connections and identify common themes amongst them. By doing so, we were supposed to be able to more deeply understand each text and the argument each was making. Throughout the readings, the most prominent themes were that of struggle and division, though it is certainly more prevalent and obvious in certain texts than others. Though all the texts depict division and struggle, they focus on different societal divisions This depiction of struggle first became clear during the reading of Plato s Republic in book I, where Thrasymachus said of justice, Justice is nothing more than what is advantageous for the stronger (Plato 15). When examined further, Thrasymachus answer came to mean that what benefits the stronger, more powerful class of people is what he calls justice. Thrasymachus answer posed a struggle between those with more power and influence and those who held less powerful positions in their respective City states. While Socrates overturned Thrasymachus definition of justice, the discussion turned to government and justice in Book VIII, when Socrates spoke of the eventual decay of government into Tyranny. In describing Timocracy, a form of government in which property ownership is required for participation in government and in which honor is the ruling principle and the man with which it corresponds, Socrates

  • 11. Mia Ham Research Paper Number 9 Mia Hamm was a two time Olympic Gold Medalist, two time World Cup Champion, FIFA Women s Player of the Year, and is arguably the best women s soccer player of all time. She was born March 17, 1972 in Selma, Alabama as Mariel Margaret Mia Hamm. She scored the most international goals in women s soccer history until 2013, and has one of the biggest fanbases in sports. How did she become one of the best women s soccer players in history? This essay will demonstrate how Mia Hamm made waves in the soccer world. Because her dad was in the military, he was stationed in various parts of the world. When Mia was young her father happened to be stationed in Florence, Italy where she fell in love with the game of soccer (Bosch). She returned back to the states there were little to no girls sports teams, so she opted to play with the boys (Hamm). She played multiple sports such as soccer, basketball, tennis, and more. As I continued to analyze Mia Hamm s life, I realized that she is much more than a talented player. I realized that she was the best in the world and that she was a big influence to girls around my age to play soccer. If I happen to get a chance to research Mia Hamm again, I would search for information on the Mia Hamm Foundation. She made a non profit, national organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for families in need of a marrow or cord blood transplant and to the development of more opportunities for young women in sports
  • 12. My Reflection Essay I ve always considered myself a fairly decent writer but we all have room to improve. I just like everyone, sometimes miss errors in my writing no matter how hard I look over my writings. People that know me often enjoy my writings because they understand my writing style or how I think but sometimes my errors that I miss deter others from enjoying my writing. I would like for more people to be able to connect with the things I am writing about, this is why I am working hard this semester to fix my errors and understand how to prevent those errors in the first place. One way that I can improve my writing is by being more attentive to what I am actually writing instead of allowing my feelings to overwhelm my thoughts. I can fix my problem of losing focus on what I am writing by going back and rereading what I have already written before continuing on. I need to focus on making sure that I am writing from a first person point of view instead of accidentally changing over to second person out of habit. After I personally proofread what I have written, I should either have a peer edit my paper or use an online resource from the classroom to help edit any mistakes I may have missed. Improving the way I write my essays is something I believe I can 100% improve on by staying focused. One strength in my writing that I have noticed so far this semester is that I am able to structure my paragraphs in a way that my writing can easily be comprehended. Acknowledging my strengths in my

The amount of resources humans currently use is far greater than the Earth can support, and eventually the finite sources of energy such as coal, gas, and oil will run out. Even renewable resources such as trees and farming land are being depleted at a faster rate than they can be naturally replenished. The only way that the Earth s resources can continue to support the growing human population is if we attempt to reduce our ecological footprint, and there are several ways to go about this task. For one, people can find sustainable methods of fulfilling their needs for things like energy and food. Instead of using so much land for taking care of livestock and growing feed, farms can focus on growing vegetables for humans which use much less energy and water. People will have to eat less meat and purchase food that was grown locally to reduce transportation costs. Forests, farmland, and fisheries need to be used in a more sustainable manner so that they are not depleted before they can be replenished. We could also reduce our footprint by making use of cleaner, alternative sources of energy like wind and solar power instead of non renewable ones like gas and oil that will soon run out. Although it is not practical for everyone to stop driving cars and flying, newly manufactured cars should be built as fuel efficient as possible or be able to be
  • 17. Meiji Japan Changes Meiji Japan Political Changes By Natalie Starkoff Introduction The Meiji Restoration, an important era in Japanese history, saw the abolition of the feudal system of the Tokugawa period and political changes which contributed to the modernisation of Japan. The political leaders in the late Tokugawa period with the main source of power were the shogun and daimyo as the emperor was only a head figure. The new political system that was introduced in the Meiji period had a great effect on Japan completely changing their way of living. This new system was responsible for the development of Japan s infrastructure in areas such as railways, shipping and technology. The new government attempted to modernize and develop the country in an attempt to protect against foreign domination; this is shown by the treaty ports of Yokohama and Kobe and the laws that applied to foreigners in Japan (http:/ /www.japanvisitor.com/). Middle of the nineteenth century, Japan s ruling Shogunate was a weak, feudal order, unable to control all its own domains, much less defend the nation against a threat from the Western powers (Afe.easia.columbia.edu). The Japanese were convinced that modernization depended on putting an end to the feudal order; a group of middle ranking samurai overthrew the military government of the Shogun. In 1871, the Meiji government announced the abolition of feudalism as a form of government and all Japanese all Japanese were to be loyal to the emperor. Central Government then divided Japan into 75 regions governed by centrally appointed officials. On the 7th April 1868, Mutsuhito issued a declaration known as the Five Articles Oath which outlined the main aims and the course of action to be followed during Emperor Meiji s reign, setting the legal stage for Japan s modernization and can be considered the first constitution of modern

Not only does this affect someone s life by making the decision to be intoxicated behind the wheel, but also this can completely change a stranger s life. Although the mind is being affected while under the influence, it still has shown for a long period of time afterward. This concept is seen in the short story, Drop by Drop . The main character, Brenda, is in confusion throughout the story about her decisions to drive while intoxicated. It takes the presence of a ghost and going through a state of denial for Brenda to come to realization with what she has done. In Vivian Vande Velde s Drop by Drop , Vivian uses Brenda as a prime example of mentality from being intoxicated. Brenda s mind is making her see things that are not exactly real. Throughout moving into a new house Brenda is noticing several mischievous actions, such as clothes falling to the floor, hearing a toddler s bike with no sight of kids anywhere, and even to the point of seeing a ghost. Little does Brenda know, these events are taking place because of her decision to drink and drive, which she has little to no memory of. This is beginning to change the way she sleeps, when she notices something in her bed and runs to her parents for help, I was angry, even though he was right. I don t know, I said. It doesn t have to be a rat. I couldn t see what it was. I only felt it (Vande Velde 25). Brenda is fully

How Varying Enzyme Concentrations Affect Absorbance Over Time in Potato Homogenate Mixture Haille Armstrong November 17, 2015 Biology 155 Laboratory Tuesdays 6pm Lab Partners: Kayla, Morel, Ryan Abstract Saturation of substrates was a phenomenon that was observed in Part II of the experiment. This was referenced from later in the discussion. When the enzyme activity from this experiment was compared to Enoch s work, (Enoch) it was stated that he found that in certain liver cells of rats, enzyme activity would stop suddenly. The study proposed that the lower Enoch dropped the substrate concentration within these cells, the less activity he could record. This proved to both his data and to the date from this experiment that the substrate was necessary for catalysis, because as enzyme concentration rose, substrates bound more quickly to the active site of an enzyme. Once all substrates in the mixture were changed to products, the enzyme was stationary because it had no more substrate to catalyze. This meant that in order for the reaction to continue, substrate concentration had to increase. Introduction To understand how and why the experiment was performed, one must understand what enzymes and substrates are. Enzymes are defined as proteins that are capable of speeding up a chemical reaction by reducing the amount of activation energy needed to catalyze that reaction (Raven, Johnson and Mason 2014). Enzymes regulate these biochemical processes

The water and food coloring did mix into the water because instead of being able to see through the clear water easily, it became blue in color and harder to see through the glass. Although the water and food coloring mixed, the cooking oil and water did not. I am able to show this because in the glass, the oil was resting on the water s surface and continued to stay separated. When and or if you turned the container downward, the oil pushes through the moving water in order to remain at the top of the surface. Since the oil remains at the top no matter what angle the container is at, the oil has the higher density because it is always forced to the top of the glass. If soap was added to the list of ingredients and was mixed into the mixture of water and oil, I think the soap would mix with the water but the oil will remain at the top and unmixed. The mixture was a heterogenous because even though they were in the same constiner, you were able to spot the individual substances by themselves. Going back to reanalyze my hypothesis, I have come to the conclusion that my hypothesis is correct because I said the water and oil would not mix

At the end of Book IV, Plato tries to show that individual justice mirrors political justice. He claims that the soul of every individual has a three part structure analagous to the three classes of a society. There is a rational part of the soul, which seeks after truth and is responsible for our philosophical inclinations; a spirited part of the soul, which desires honor and is responsible for our feelings of anger and indignation; and an appetitive part of the soul, which lusts after all sorts of things, but money most of all (since money must be used to fulfill any other base desire). The just individual can be defined in analogy with the just society; the three parts of his soul achieve the requisite relationships of power and influence in regard to one another. In a just individual, the rational part of the soul rules, the spirited part of the soul supports this rule, and the appetitive part of the soul submits and follows wherever reason leads. Put more plainly: in a just individual, the entire soul

Coal naturally contains high amounts of sulphur and burning of coal produces huge amounts of heat and the sulphur present in the coal combines with the atmospheric oxygen to produce Sulphur Dioxide. The smoke stacks of a power plant throw out all the waste gases into the atmosphere which contains huge amounts of Sulphur Dioxide. It is said that thermal power plants are the largest contributor of Sulphur Dioxide into the atmosphere. It is estimated that more than half of the total amount of Sulphur Dioxide generated in the atmosphere comes directly from thermal power plants that run on coal. Another anthropological source of Sulphur Dioxide gas as a pollutant is from paper production. The paper mills that produce pulp wood through a chemical process, normally combust their spent pulping liquor in a combustion unit. The most widely used chemical processes are Kraft Pulping process, Sulphite Pulping and Neutral Sulphite Semi Chemical Pulping (NSSC Pulping). Among these, Kraft Pulping process is the most widely used process as it can be used to make strong and durable paper products. This process consists of digestion of wood, or any other cellulite substance in a solution of sodium sulphite and sodium hydroxide, the waste products of which produce harmful pollutants including sulphur compounds. The Performance And Reward Management System Performance ratings is part of the performance and reward management system that used to support organisations personnel decisions in performance appraisal, promotion, compensation, and employee development (Yun, Donahus, Dudley, McFarland, 2005). Accurate performance ratings are fundamental to the success or failure of the performance managementprocess, therefore, raters have been suggested to be fully trained to minimise potential errors in performance ratings (Biron, Farndale, Paauwe, 2011). Several rater training programs have been developed to enhance the quality of performance ratings, such as rater error training and frame of reference training (MacDonald Sulsky, 2009). Nevertheless, not all rater training programs have been equally successful, many researchers have demonstrated the effectiveness of frame of reference training in increasing rating accuracy (Woehr, 1994; Keown Gerrard Sulsky, 2001; Roch, Woehr, Mishra, Kieszczynska, 2012). The following will assess the effectiveness of frame of reference training in increasing rating quality through comprehensive examination of its validity, accuracy and reliability. After the pupa stage, they are adults and are ready to produce. It is simply, fast, and cheap to raise mealworms. Mealworms are often used in science, especially in labs or experiments. Some experiments they are involved in are light versus dark, diet tests, and life cycles. Examining the mealworms life style shows the four stages of life in a manageable amount of time. Overall, mealworms are valuable in every sense of the way. They can be used in science, as protein, meal replace, and also as a pest. Another bug used in science is the roly poly bug. Roly poly bugs are interesting bugs because of their body has its own set of amor. Whenever the bug suspects prey, it uses its armor to roll into a ball. The armor appears like a dark and in layers, this allows the perfect ball shape when it tries to protect itself. Roly poly bugs have a dark brown/ grayish color about them. The darker color of their shell helps protect them from becoming
  • 38. The Power Struggle of the States and Federal Government in... To define the terminology of federalism to a simplistic way is the sharing of sovereignty between the national government and the local government. It is often described as the dual sovereignty of governments between the national and the local to exert power in the political system. In the US it is often been justified as one of the first to introduce federalismby the founding fathers which were developed in order to escape from the overpowered central government. However, federalism in the United Statesis hitherto uncertain where the power lies in the contemporary political system. However, the state of Maryland tried to block the activity of the national bank by imposing tax to all the notes that were issued. The branch manager of the bank in Baltimore refused to pay taxes and lawsuits were filed in the Maryland Court. However, the case was brought up to the U.S Supreme Court as the Constitution did not subjectively describe that Federal Government had the authority to establish a bank. The U.S Supreme Court led by Chief Justice John Marshall ruled out the case that acknowledges that the Congress has the rights to establish a national bank under Article 1 Section 8 in the American Constitution. This shows that the US Constitution was vaguely described and gave the Congress an insight to pass laws as long as it is within the Constitution. However, this gave the Federal Government to create the mentality to indirectly gain more power which restricts the States sovereignty. The complexity of the relationship between the federal government and states government arise it dealt with national issues. In the recent events the federal government has been heavily involved with people s lives notably when it comes to national issues. For instance, in the 1930s when America faced the Great Depression the States had to turn to the Federal government to solve the issue and New Deal program was introduced. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory, no one can steal ~Unknown In the Iliad, by Homer, The Dog Who That Bit People , by James Thurber and Pride , by Dahlia Ravikovitch, the idea of sympathy is conveyed through characterization. To our first piece, the Iliad, by Homer. Sympathy is showed in King Priam and the narrator with how loss effects our character, before and after the loss of loves ones. On page 152, King Priam said, Hector my son, if you die, what cares I if Troy be victorious? If you live, what matters it if we be conquered by the Greek? Hear me, Hector! I speak as your father. King Priam fears to lose what little family he has left. Sympathy is shown through King Priam trying to be a better father, and not losing Hector as he did with his daughters and other sons. The heartbreak is there and you can feel it. His heart cannot afford any more loss and sorrow. Another place that shows sympathy through characterization is on page 153. The narrator reads: ...when the news reached the King Priam, Hector s father, the old man s heart nearly breaks . As I have stated earlier, King Priam was scared to lose what little family he had left, now the author tells of the pain Priam feels for losing his son, it helps pull sympathy from the reader. Regional therapy focuses cancer treatment on a locally affected area. An example of this would be a chemotherapy treatment for pleural mesothelioma where a doctor injects the drug into the pleural space. In this case, regional therapy allows for greater doses of medication, which improves the medication s effectiveness while sparing the rest of the body from chemotherapy side effects. Dr. Pingpank strongly supports treating peritoneal mesothelioma with cytoreduction surgery followed by heated intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC), where hot chemotherapy drugs are administered directly into the abdomen. He is a member of several professional organizations, such as the American Society for Clinical Oncology, the American Association for Cancer Research and the Association for Academic Surgery. The Cost of Pharmaceuticals: Prescription Drug Prices and Retail Mark Up Diandra Hopkins American Public University Anyone who has purchased prescription medication has probably wondered why they cost so much. The pharmaceutical industry consist of thousands of firms engaged in one or several functions of discovering, developing, manufacturing and marketing medicines for human use. The price paid to a retail pharmacy for a drug is negotiated by the PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Manager) and the pharmacy or pharmacy chain. Rising prices for goods encourage producers to find ways of supplying more also guiding purchasers to switch to cheaper alternatives. Analyses of pharmaceutical pricing are complicated by the intricacies of this market. The process by which drug prices are determined is highly complex, involving numerous interactions and arrangements among manufacturers, whole salers ,retailers, insurers, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and consumers. Both of their goals is to remold an individual to fit their criteria. Each individual has a certain identity and presents themselves in a specific way. People are known to change due to influences in their everyday lives, which eventually changes their identities into someone completely different. In these two essays, it becomes evident that because of the pressures put upon people by these hierarchies, people unconsciously change and are shaped into new individuals while hiding their true identities. They are distinguished as superior non feminine men, while behind the scenes they are typically performing feminine acts. Violently harassing the young knobs, showering together, and making their beds together was where they could show their true selves. Faludi mentions how the result is ruthless intimacy, in which physical abuse stands in for physical affection, and every display of affection must be counterbalanced by a display of sadism (Faludi, 100). The boys become so infatuated with showing their feminine side that when they snap back to reality they realize it is a sign of weakness and use anger to feel relief. The Cadets act like they are on a stage playing a role in a play much like the Treehouse where men dress up as Drag Queens. Both identities are being performed, which means while playing a role you are still truly yourself. This is also seen in Biographies of Hegemony, while Princeton and Harvard students are getting recruited, they put on this elite, smart act of attraction to be a part of this high institution of Wall Street. It is claimed that the most distinguishing features of investment banking are their smartness and exclusivity (Ho, 166). This shows how by putting themselves in a different

Finally, in the piece written by Rini, I can understand her points and she clearly states her audience while closing her point by asking, ...does continuing to apply the name of such a person express our values, rather than the values of a gone generation? REBT stress reduction are based on changing beliefs and thoughts about the event (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden, 2014). The first part of stress reduction with REBT is locating if the beliefs are rational or irrational. This will be assessed by the client s perception of the situation. The first step is determining the activating event and the emotional consequence of the event. If the client is using should and demandingness (success and approval for everything), awfulizing, blaming, rating, and overgeneralizing it will only add to their stress level (Doyle, DiGiuseppe, Dryden, 2014). As a result, the flowers could mate and reproduce. Conifers: it s similar to flowers, but it s not by animals. The wind carries the pollen from the plant to cones. If both parts combine, they can reproduce. Spores: The plants use sexual reproduction with the haploid cell of one plant, and the haploid egg of another plant. It makes a sporophyte cell, which feeds off of the parent plant until it is mature, and they are release in the air to reproduce. Generally, people have operated under the assumption that the world was (or was on its way to being) overpopulated. I began my research in this topic with the same outlook. I initially wanted to research overpopulation because I was deeply concerned with its implications. I wanted to understand the causes of population growth and to learn what might be done to ameliorate the problem. Soon into the research, however, I happened upon pieces of literature opposing the idea of an overpopulation crisis and immediately respected certain aspects of their arguments. Quickly, I was forced to change the scope of my question from what will be the consequences of overpopulation? to what exactly does overpopulation mean? and does an overpopulation problem even exist? . History of Population Crises The seed of my doubt that an overpopulation crisis was imminent was planted when I began to examine the historical record of population concerns. As a history major, I have at least some respect for patterns in history. While I recognize that new things can emerge, often a current event is a variant on an earlier expressed theme. Regarding population, the first documented concerns over population size date from a Babylonian epic from 1600 BC (Cohen, 1995). More writings on the topic across the globe have continued since then, themselves probably increasing at a rate faster than the
