Social Darwinism categorized human society into the fit and superior versus the unfit and inferior based on the biological concept of survival of the fittest. It justified social inequalities and harmful actions by superior groups. Eugenics built upon this by proposing to improve the human gene pool by encouraging reproduction from desirable groups and discouraging it from undesirable groups, often targeting the poor, disabled, and non-white populations. Nazi Germany notably practiced negative eugenics through forced sterilization and genocide.
African nationalism is a political movement for the unification of Africa (Pan-Africanism) and for national self-determination. African nationalism, in South Africa, also embraces the concept of a Africanism based on unity and togetherness of South Africans. It is a modern phenomenon, which tries to build a nation within a specific geographic area.

This presentation serves to demonstrate how the Afrikaner nationalism in the 19th century was the driving force that led the Afrikaner government to adopt the Apartheid policy.
Imperialism is very similar to colonialism, with one major difference: colonial powers settle the countries of which they gain control, while imperial powers do not. The term “imperialism” does not seem to exist prior to the 1800s. Nineteenth-century imperialism was spurred in large part by the Industrial Revolution. The development of new industrial economies in the 1700s and 1800s necessitated the acquisition of raw materials and the desire to gain control of marketplaces; thus, by the mid-1800s, imperialistic actions of strong nations (most notably European nations) started to become policy.

A rather large presentation about Eugenics, focusing largely on the Nazis but touching on the origins, birth, United States, general principles and even more.
Eugenics is the science which enables one to modify the genetic makeup of a species to attain a required characteristics in a species. Eugenics includes modification of a cow to produce one which produces higher yield of milk, or to alter seeds of a plant to produce higher crop yields. In this presentation, we focus on designer babies of human based on a patent by 23andme company. We discuss about its possible impacts on society and human species. Eugenics itself is a big topic, just like the nuclear technology it can also be both used and abused. When used in gender selection of an unborn child, it is more abused then used today. When used by a mother who is unable to give birth to a healthy child its more used in a positive way. Here we argue upon the positive and negative aspects of allowing parents choose required phenotypes and genotype of their baby and allowing them to DESIGN their baby.

Turning points in modern south african historyMaretha Spies
This is a lesson for South African classrooms: it allows learners to engage actively in classroom discussions, since it poses a lot of questions relating to the topic of apartheid. it deals with segregation laws prior to apartheid, and legislation past under the National Party in 1948.

How to Make a Field invisible in Odoo 17Celine George
It is possible to hide or invisible some fields in odoo. Commonly using “invisible” attribute in the field definition to invisible the fields. This slide will show how to make a field invisible in odoo 17.
Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.

9. SOCIAL DARWISM
• As the ideas of scientific racism became
popular, social scientists began to borrow the
theories of biologists in order to further
develop their theories of race.
• Herbert Spencer developed the philosophy of
Social Darwinism, in which he adapted Charles
Darwin’s research on evolution in the animal
kingdom and applied it to human beings.
M.N.SPIES
10. SOCIAL DARWISM
• Darwin discovered that animal species are
changing and evolving in their competitive
environment, and that only the strongest
species survived.
• Spencer applied this research to human
beings to support his belief that some humans
are superior to others.
M.N.SPIES
11. SOCIAL DARWISM
• The strongest humans (white, wealthy and
powerful) were at the top of society, while the
weak (poor, black people and Jews) were at
the bottom.
• This principle known as ‘survival of the fittest’
implied that, as in the animal kingdom, human
society was undertaking an evolutionary
process in which the fittest would dominate.
M.N.SPIES
14. SOCIAL DARWISM
• The ideas of Social Darwinism appealed to the
rich and powerful people in society, because
they felt it explained and justified social
inequalities.
• The false teaching of Social Darwinism had
terrible effects on international politics,
economics and social developments across
the globe.
M.N.SPIES
15. SOCIAL DARWISM
• : “Social Darwinism supported the view that
so-called ‘white civilised’ industrial nations
that had technologically advanced weapons
had the moral right to conquer and ‘civilise’
the ‘savage blacks’ of the world. In this way, its
supporters believed that superior societies
would evolve culturally and politically and
dominate the weak. Social Darwinism seemed
to justify imperialism, colonialism, racism and
poverty.”
M.N.SPIES
16. Social Darwinism was the theory that
human society could be categorised
into the fit and superior and the unfit
and inferior. It included the concept of
the survival of the fittest and justified
measures taken by superior groups to
maintain their superiority. Eugenics
took this one step further and proposed
getting rid of the inferior people in
society.
M.N.SPIES
17. Eugenics is a set of theories claiming
that it is possible to improve a human
or animal species by breeding from the
better ones and not from weaker ones.
Eugenicists want species with desirable
characteristics to survive and to
dominate.
EUGENICS
M.N.SPIES
18. “Linking to Eugenics, can you
think of some examples in
History where positive
Eugenics was promoted and
reproducing negative
Eugenics was discouraged?”
M.N.SPIES
20. What is positive Eugenics?
• Only people with desirable traits should be
allowed to reproduce.
• “GOOD IN BIRTH”
• Positive eugenics means adding to the human
gene pool so called desirable characteristics.
• But the question relating to the cause of racism
and the effect theories of race had, would be to
whom are these characteristics desirable?
M.N.SPIES
21. Francis Galton and his theory of
Eugenics
• HIS THEORY BUILDED ON THE THEORY OF
SOCIAL DARWISM...
• “Eugenicists supported the view that
stronger groups in society should be
improved and weaker groups should be
removed. “
M.N.SPIES
22. Negative Eugenics and Selective
Breeding
• SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO REPRODUCE
• They thought that social problems like crime
and poverty could be solved by getting rid of
the ‘inferior’ parts of the population.
• They concentrated on the differences
between people and categorised them into
‘fit’ and ‘unfit’.
• The idea was to create the perfect race.
M.N.SPIES
24. Example in history
• Nazi Germany was the most enthusiastic
supporter of negative Eugenics.
• The Nazis sterilised almost a quarter of a
million people thought to be ‘unfit’ for
reasons of health and eventually murdered
more than 70 000 people in German mental
hospitals. They also murdered millions of
people because of their religion or race.”
M.N.SPIES
