Micro promo events in Italy run by eTwinning ambassadors saw 120 events held with over 6,000 participants. The idea began in 2012 with informal "Teas with eTwinning" to promote the program. Events saw a mix of presentations, workshops and social activities increase registrations by 150% in May 2013. Common features included combining information with social activities targeting various groups. Events were organized by individual ambassadors and saw success through ease of organizing, peer learning and no costs. Two example events highlighted different formats including one in a school and one between neighboring schools.
