Native American Culture Essay
Crafting an essay on Native American culture presents a multifaceted challenge that extends
beyond the typical academic hurdles. The intricate tapestry of Native American traditions,
histories, and contemporary issues demands a nuanced understanding and a delicate approach.
First and foremost, the diversity among Native American tribes necessitates thorough research to
avoid generalizations and stereotypes.
Navigating through the vast array of cultural elements – from spirituality and traditional
ceremonies to art, language, and daily practices – requires a deep dive into each aspect.
Moreover, addressing the historical injustices, colonization, and ongoing struggles faced by
Native communities demands sensitivity and respect.
Beyond the cultural intricacies, tackling the essay also involves the responsibility of
acknowledging and grappling with the impact of external forces on Native American
communities. This includes exploring the complexities of government policies, socioeconomic
challenges, and the preservation of cultural heritage in the face of modernization.
Furthermore, the essay should strive to present an authentic and respectful portrayal of Native
American perspectives, giving a platform for their voices to be heard. This adds an additional
layer of complexity as it involves not just academic research but a commitment to cultural
understanding and empathy.
In essence, writing an essay on Native American culture requires not only scholarly skills but also
a genuine appreciation for diversity, a keen awareness of historical contexts, and a
compassionate approach to contemporary issues. Balancing these elements is a delicate task that
demands careful consideration and an ethical stance.

Transformation of Reality as Portrayed in Don Quixote
Transformation of Reality as Portrayed in Don Quixote
Throughout his novel, Don Quixote, Miguel Cervantes effectively uses the
transformation of reality to critique and reflect societal and literary norms. In three
distinct scenes, Don Quixote or his partner, Sancho, transform reality. Often they are
met with other s discontent. It is through the innkeeper scene, the windmill scene, the
Benedictine friar scene, and Quixote s deathbed scene that Cervantes contemplates
revolutionary philosophies and literary techniques. The theme of reality
transformation does not even stop there. Sometimes the transformations of reality
scenes act as mimetic devices. Ultimately, Miguel Cervantes use of transformative
scenes acts as a creative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reader knows the Don Quixote is extremely well read, and they also are aware
the Sancho is illiterate. In this scene, Sancho is depicted as the level headed and sane
one. So Cervantes is disassociating common sense with academic knowledge. He is
challenging what society had deemed as certain that academic knowledge makes an
individual infallible in their reasoning skills, and that there is no other worthy type of
knowledge. A final scene in which Miguel Cervantes transforms reality is the
Benedictine friar scene. Previous examples have highlighted his revolutionary
attitudes towards societal conventions, but this scene highlights his revolutionary
literary techniques. Cervantes writes, As they were conversing in this manner, there
appeared in the road in front of them two friars of the Order of St. Benedict, mounted
upon dromedaries for the she mules they rode were certainly no smaller than that
(2250). For a split second, this line forces readers to have in their minds something
that could not possibly exist in seventeenth century Spain. His use of language and
word placement was new for his time period. It is through this passage, and this line
in particular, which Cervantes creative literary genius shows. Don Quixote is not
only a novel about how Don Quixote perceives the world but also how other
New Year Eve Party Essay
New Year s Eve has become one of the biggest days of the year for parties and
events throughout the world. Therefore, an unlimited amount of events are planned
and executed on the last day of the year; this year I attended a New Year eve party
at the house of a co worker. The party was held in a neighborhood just inside the city
of Charlotte. It has been a while since I attended a house party, so there are some
aspects that come along with a house party that will increase the amount of risk
associated with the staging of the New Year Eve party. The name of the event was
Shari and Cue s New Year Eve party; the event was held on December 31, 2015. The
party started at 9:00pm, and was scheduled to end at 2:00 am January 1, 2016.
However... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one
entrance into the basement, which led to the crowd being forced to use the same
stairway to enter and exit the through the same area. I would have suggested that
the event planners had selected another venue to hold the party because the party
had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and entrance was clearly marked,
but it was a lack of actually signs used to identify the exit and entrance. The nature
of the event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was invited to the
event was friends of the party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an
event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA accommodations, if there was an
attendee that need ADA accommodations to make to the basement where the
majority of the activities were being held, then the lack of wheelchair access would
have been an issue. When planning an event, the scale and scope of the event is
vital to consider the size of the crowd that will be attending the event. The New Year
Eve party had between 50 60 attendees throughout the course of the event. Based on
the information provided by the event planner, there was probably 15 more guest
than they initial planned to host at the party. The location of the event caused the
flow of the traffic to become a possible issue. When holding an event in a private
neighborhood, there will be a limited number
Essay On Technology And Technology
Having the ability to contact any of my friends or family members instantly at any
moment has become my reality, which is the fastest way to communicate with
someone now days. With that being said I believe that Technology and Social
Media outlets has revolutionized society entirely, because it has furthered the
ability to communicate with each other. Thus, allowing an easier way to set up
meetings, get together and parties... Making relationships maintainable in the long
run by keeping in contact through social media. The constant advancements in
technology has kept people in the loop of buying the newest phones and other
devices. With advertisers urging people to buy the next Iphone or Samsung
galaxy, while still having a well functioning phone most people will still go out and
buy it. In my mind I think this logic is ridiculous although it has become imbedded
in society. I feel grateful that I have become aware of these seller tactics that way I
do not follow these corporate schemes which are all about money. Through enough
personal experiences I have my own views that these outlets of entertainment have
improved some aspects of modern day relationships but not all. Social Media has
allowed me to share and see pictures that my friends and family have posted. It
brings me a sense of joy to see people I know having their own extraordinary
adventures and achievements. It motivates me to do more with my life as I get new
ideas by seeing what they are doing. As this improve
Afghanistan Pros And Cons
Although the Taliban was able to provide economic growth in Afghanistan, it was at
the expense of global addiction. Further, economic growth was short lasting because
in 2001, the Taliban banned opium production as a result of overproduction and a
significant price decrease. The ban did increase opium prices, however it had
devastated many farmers, who were left with large unpaid loans to drug dealers and
no source of income (Descent into Chaos 320). Opposition to the Talibantherefore
increased amongst the Afghan population (320). Moreover, even though the Taliban
was at first praised for bringing relative peace and security to the regions they
captured, their social and religious policies were widely unpopular (Barfield 289).

When the Taliban took control of Kabul in 1996, they banned women from
working, which was especially detrimental to widows and other women who did
not have a male figure in their life to provide a source of income. Widows were
therefore forced to beg in the streets and sell their goods (Invisible Women 7). The
Taliban also forced women to wear burqas, and if they failed to cover themselves
properly, they were subject to public beatings(7). Education for women also
deteriorated when the Taliban rose to power. Prior to the Taliban regime, Statistics by
the Feminist Majority Foundation revealed that over half of the student body of
Afghanistan s universities were women (8), but once Taliban took over, women were
prohibited from attending school. Numerous other rules imposed by the Taliban
disallowed women from equal opportunity, such as the Taliban s refusal to provide
women access to medical care, their requirement that women must at all times be
accompanied by a male chaperone, women prohibition from driving, and women
being unable to wear white burqas, white socks, or white shoes, amongst other laws
(Invisible 8). Failure to abide by the Taliban rules led to harsh, and sometimes
barbaric, punishments. Subsequently, these irrational rules left widespread feelings
of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness among Afghan women
Mercutio Foil
In Shakespeare s famous play Romeo and Juliet, the most memorable character,
Mercutio, was killed off early, but he still managed to contribute greatly to the plot of
the tragic love story. Everybody knows one of the main themes of the play is love,
however Mercutio is an anti romantic character making him a foil to Romeo. Another
importance of him is his witty, extravagant way with words that diverts all the
attention to him and enlightens the scenes. The name Mercutio itself origins from the
term mercurial, which means unpredictable changes of mood and mind, and just like
them Mercutio s hot headed, wild personality leads to situations in the play that help
escalate the play. Mercutio s significant traits make him the most memorable to the
play.
Although one of the main themes of the play was love, Mercutio s opinion on it is
contradicting. Anyone who has ever heard of Romeo and Juliet knows that the
story involves young lovers that fall in love so deeply they die for it, Mercutio,
however, has a different outlook on love than love sick Romeo. Mercutio mocks
Romeo s idea of love in the story with the Queen Mab speech and describes love as a
physical pursuit. His opinions contrasts with Romeo s, making Mercutio a foil and
helps us better comprehend Romeo s character. Mercutio goes on to talk about
dreams in his speech saying they are just a man s desires and often leads to false
hope for dreamers. This makes Romeo s dream of his love for Rosaline doubtful,

Super Bowl System Analysis
In the summer of 2012, the NCAA announced that college football would be
getting rid of the previous postseason championship system, the BCS bowl system,
and have a four team playoff to figure out who will be the next national champion.
The BCS bowl system was a selection system that had the two highest ranking
teams, based off of rankings from the Associated Press (AP), face off for the
national championship. The new system involves a group of twelve people that
decide who the top four teams in Division I college footballare, rather than the press
deciding the rankings solely based off of a team s record. Ultimately, this would
determine who would compete in the playoff games, and who would become the next
national champion. Although this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, in the middle of the 2015 season, the #2 ranked LSU Tigers went to
Tuscaloosa, Alabama to play the #4 ranked University of Alabama Crimson Tide.
Alabama beat LSU and LSU s rank fell to #7. Only one loss, in this case to a top
five program, shouldn t dictate if the losing team makes the playoffs or not.
Another instance, at the end of the 2014 season, is when the #6 ranked Texas
Christian University Horned Frogs didn t make the playoffs because of their sole
loss of the season, to the #5 ranked Baylor University Bears. In spite of these
scenarios, The Ohio State University Buckeyes lost to the unranked Virginia Tech
Hokies and made the College Football Playoffs, where they ultimately beat the #1
seeded Alabama Crimson Tide, and the #2 seeded Oregon Ducks en route to a
National Championship (Heekin). Even just an expansion from four to eight teams
would increase the number of games from three to seven. Overall, adding more teams
into the playoffs creates more games and, therefore, more TV time and

Abstract
Melting points of Naphthalene/Biphenyl mixtures differing in their percent
compositions were observed and plotted on a graph that indicated eutectic point of the
mixture to be at 50 mole percent Naphthalene. Using melting point technique to
identify mixture Unknown H was determined to be 3 ethoxy 4 hydroxybenzaldehyde.
Introduction
Melting point is a technique used by chemists to identify unknown substance.

Based on the fact that mixture with 3 Ethoxy 4 hydroxybenzaldehyde had relatively
close range of (76.1 В°C 78.1 В°C) with 2.5 В°C difference in ending values, which
can be considered as a sharp point, unknown H is 3 Ethoxy 4 hydroxybenzaldehyde.
Conclusion
Melting point is a technique used to identify pure substances by observing ranges of
melting points as it was done in mixtures of Naphthalene and Biphenyl. Eutectic
point, however, should be kept in my when testing for pure substances, for eutectic
compositions can mislead results of the test if nothing else is considered. Biphenyl s
on this technique unknown H tested was determined to be 3 Ethoxy 4
hydroxybenzaldehyde based on its sharp MT.
Questions:
1. a) Examples in which a pure substance could give a broad melting range:
5 mole percent of Naphthalene to 95 mole percent of Biphenyl (which is good
percentage of purity) has a broad melting range.
b) Example of a situation in which an impure substance melts sharply:
Mixture of 60 mole percent of Naphthalene and 40 mole percent of Biphenyl. Mixture
has eutectic composition.
2. Eutectic mixture mixture in which proportions of its constituents allow a uniform
melting point for that mixture. MP range is sharp, despite the fact that mixture is
impure.
3. Effects of the impurities on melting behavior of benzoic acid: MP Benzoic Acid

Figure 3 and 4, respectively. Acetone cleaned AD BPs lost approximately 26, 48, and
32 % of their weight, whereas methanol cleaned AD BPs decreased their weight by
around 29, 40, and 34 % at 300 ЛљC for 90 min, 350 ЛљC for 60 min, and 300 ЛљC
for 120 min, respectively. HiPco BPs lost about 22, 5, and 1 % at 350 ЛљC for 30

recalculated the weight change from the theoretical weight of AD BPs considering
the surfactant effect, + 5, 25, and 2 % weight of acetone cleaned AD BP were
changed after HT at the first (300 ЛљC 90 min), second (350 ЛљC 60 min), and third
(300 ЛљC 120 min) conditions while there were + 5, 13, and 0 % changes in weight
for methanol cleaned AD BPs. As a result, at the first and third conditions, the weight
change of AD BPs weight change was minimal and while for HiPco BPs weight
change was minimal at the second and the third conditions.
Methanol cleaned AD BPs were either swirled or become brittle even before heat

at the first condition, the samples keeping the physical integrity. HiPco BPs did not
manifest any change in appearance or integrity throughout the experiment and the
samples were very flexible.

Compare And Contrast Mcveigh And Rudolph
When it comes to Timothy McVeigh, Ted Kaczynski, and Eric Rudolph they have
many similarities. First, they were all survivalist in some way. McVeigh was
looking for a lifestyle that was a survivalist type. Kaczynski lived in a small cabin
that had no electricity or running water. His yearly cost of survival was around
$400. Rudolph using his survivalist skills stayed on the run for five years before he
was caught. These three bombers also shared anti governmental views. These three
terrorists also messed up in some way that got them eventually caught. After the
explosion, the rear axle was found in the rumble and on it was an identification

McVeigh s failing his training made him even more resentful of the government.
As his frustration grew, he wrote news outlets and congressman. Not being heard,
he felt the government was too powerful after their use of force at the Branch

against his country and citizens? McVeigh out out violently against the government
because he felt that they were too controlling and he wanted to weaken it. He
wanted to start a revolution. His clothing was what explained his motives the most.
McVeigh viewed the government as tyrants and the people like himself as patriots.
The government being the tyrants had to die and the patriots had to sacrifice in
order to win. What could authorities have done to either predict or prevent some or
all of these attacks? The letters were very revealing when it came to him intentions

Job Satisfaction And Strategic Outcomes
Class Date Job Satisfaction and Engagement in Relation to Financial Outcomes
Working is a very prominent part of life. According to the United States Labor
Department (2014), the average person between 25 and 54 spends about 8.7 hours
at work. Doing the math of dividing this figure by the 24 hours in a day provides
the solution that the average person spends about 40% of his or her day at work.
That is almost half a day and involves the greatest average amount of time spent
doing any daily activity including sleeping. Not only do we spend most of our day
at work, but working is necessary for daily life. We work to make money and
money is then used to buy what we need and want. Therefore, it is very important to
make as much money as possible. Job satisfaction and job engagement are two
important factors in work life that could contribute to financial outcomes. Job
satisfaction is determined by how happy a person is at his or her job. This
measurement has multiple factors that can contribute to it. According to Brian Hill
(2015), one category of factors that contributes to job satisfaction involves the
various physical work conditions at place in the employee s work environment.
These conditions can include temperature, climate, comfort and physical demands.
For example, someone may be happier working in a comfortable environment with
appropriate physical demands as opposed to a job that requires them to be too hot or
too cold and exert too much physical energy.

Oxygen is one of the key nutritional inputs to the process of life specifically energy.
Sleep apnea disrupts your breathing while you sleep.
This disruption limits the oxygen that gets into the body which limits the body s

ways. From the molecule of life, to cell structure, to how the body captures and
releases energy all provides the basic foundation for understanding the inns and

may be similar to other health issues. This article caught my attention due to myself
being diagnosed with sleep apnea. I have always been told that I snored. My snoring
has been compared to having a running diesel lawnmower in the bed room. I never

The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Essay
The Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), often referred to as the OSH Act,
was enacted in 1970 by President Richard M. Nixon. Its purpose is to assure safe
and healthful working conditions for men and women (EPA, 2006). The Act is
administered and enforced at the national level by the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration, a division of the US Department of Labor. The application of the
OSH Act in the current employment climate will be discussed as it applies to a
variety of industries; considerations that are most applicable to the specific type of
industry will be discussed initially, and those that are equally important regardless of
the type of business will complete the section. Finally, this paper will discuss how the

These requirements fall under the Housekeeping section of OSHA s general
requirements. Other significant considerations include air quality, lighting
considerations, and noise exposure. Conscientious employers address air quality
concerns by ensuring that routine maintenance for heating, ventilation, and air
conditioning units occurs at regularly scheduled intervals, and that filters or pads are
replaced according to manufacturer s specifications. Inadequate or inappropriate
lighting has been recently associated with migraine and vision disorders in some
individuals (Berkley, 2006). Employers must ensure that the lighting used in work
environments meets OSHA standards of brightness, spectrum, and stability (non
flickering). Excessive noise in an office environment can be generated by a number of
factors including copy machines, computer servers, printers, and mail processing
machines. Business leaders must ensure that the noise produced by this equipment is
within acceptable limitations or that employees are provided with protective
equipment.
Organizations involved with the delivery of healthcare to humans or animals must
observe a wider variety of regulations under OSHA than office type work
environments. The most primary issues to which hospitals and veterinary clinics
usually commit the most resources are procedures
Race And Racial Discrimination In The United States
Race refers to the physical form of some common genetic characteristics of the crowd.
This is born, cannot be chosen. While ethnicity refers to the people with the same
experience, cultural background or language. The United States as a migrant country,
immigration culture, complex skin color, ethnic racial relations are complex. The race
of society has been going on for more than half a century. Racismis a self centered
attitude, and racial differences determine the history of human society and cultural
development. Racial discrimination has always been a serious social problem. Racial
discrimination is further convinced that the disaggregated differences are linked to
hierarchical evaluations, and that various human races determine their culture or
personal achievement, implying that certain races are better than others. Racism to

Rhetorical Analysis For Global Warming
Global Warming is a huge problem for the environment. The earth s temperature has
risen about 1 degree Fahrenheit since 1900 the temperatures are continuing to rise
setting record temperature (Biello). This image is a public service announcement to
turn off lights because it is a cause to global warming. In the image a penguinis
pulling on a plug to turn out a light. This image evokes an emotional response
because it has a baby penguin looking scared behind its mom, while the ice they are
on is melting. It also illustrates a point that leaving lights on can cause global warming
because it states it in the text. The light shining on the penguins looks like it is
melting the ice they are standing on. I selected this image because it caught my
eye and then made me read the text, which shows that it is an effective PSA. I also
think global warming is a problem and I did not know that leaving lights on made
such a big impact. This image can be analyzed by looking at the six rhetorical
factors: character and action, setting, point of view, use of color, special effects,
and image presentation. First, the characters and action in this advertisement make
a large impact on this image. The penguins are struggling and are fearful for their
lives. The animal s facial expressions express how they are distressed that the light
is causing the ice they are standing on to melt. This displays how much of a problem
global warming is and how we should be more fearful of the impact it is making in
the colder climates. One sources states Specifically, more than two thirds of Antarctica
s emperor penguin colonies will decline by more than 50 percent by the end of the
century under future climate change scenarios (Palermo). This shows that global
warming is truly hurting the penguins and many other animals similar. The picture
suggests an action to turn off lights to help reduce the pollution. Second, the setting
of the image takes place somewhere cold, which is the main area affected by global
warming. The penguins are standing on a block of ice symbolizing the Arctic and
the block of ice is melting. The Science Daily reports that ice melting rates were 25
times higher than expected in localized areas of Antarctica s largest

What is the Right Choice for Beginners, Free Weights or Machines?
If you are thinking to start bodybuilding, then strength training is a perfect way to
start your bodybuilding career. In the beginning, you will need to increase your
muscle strength and improve the different muscle groups in your body so that you
can handle weights properly. The right amount of strength will help you to perform
every exercise with great amount of ease and in the proper form. This will help you
develop your muscles at a much faster rate.
Free weights and machines both have their advantages as well as disadvantages.

Lord Tennyson Research Paper
In 2012, a quote, to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield , served as an
inspiration to the athletes who competed in the former Olympics, engraved in the
area that served to host their games. These words came from a man whom suffered
throughout his life, and yet never yielded to the obstacles he encountered. Such a
man was Lord Alfred Tennyson, a well renowned man of the Victorianism time
period. Critics applaud his skills of lyricism. Themes of the inevitability of death,
nationalism, and Arthurian legends are visible throughout his works as well as his
fear of his familys long history of mental illness. It is clear the close bonds between

Therefore, in order to understand the inspiration of Tennyson, it is necessary to
understand his life. Lord Alfred Tennyson was born on August, 6th, 1806 in
Somersby, Lincolnshire, the United Kingdom just before the start of Victorianism.
An era he would later become a memorable writer of. Tennyson was born into a
financially unstable family of fourteen. Mental illnesses and epilepsy was common
amongst the males of his family and would haunt him for the rest of his life. He often
admitted himself into mental institutions over the course of his life out of fear that he
had acquired the disease his father and brother had. Eventually, Tennyson went to
Trinity College where he pursued poetry. The leader of the poetry group at the
college, Arthur Hallam, quickly befriended the shy poet and soon became his
closest companion often encouraging Tennyson to write. A few years later, the
death of both of his father and shockingly Hallam shocked Tennyson into grief that,
lead to most of his best poetry ( Everett, Glenn) he had ever written. His poem
Ulysses, was written in memory of the passing of his friend, ...Life piled on life
/ Were all too little, and of one to me/Little remains.../From that eternal silence, in
regret that his life had ended too young. Death and the passing of time would soon
become a major thematic scheme of his writing s for the rest of his
Perception In The Necklace
The Necklace depicts a tale about a woman named Madame Mathilde Loisel and
her spouse. Madame Mathilde Loisel has always been under the illusion that she
was of high social standings and held possession over expensive material, all
because of her beauty, but this was obviously all her imagination and she had
nothing. She gets married to a poor clerk who tries his very best to keep her happy.
One evening he comes home with an invitation to a ball that he worked hard to
attain. He gives up his savings for a gun in order to fulfil his partner s complaints

Madame Mathilde Loise s biggest mistake was following her husband s order to lie
instead of telling her friend the truth, that she had lost the necklace. You must write
to your friend, he said, that you have broken the clasp of her necklace and that you
are having it mended. That will give us time to turn round. To speak the truth takes
a lot of courage, it may also hurt an individual but to prolong telling the truth is the
act of avoiding the inevitable because the truth always comes out. To speak the
truth is to set oneself free as they are not tied to any sense of guilt, they can move
on with their lives and not worry about the consequences. This one act of hiding the
truth had essentially ruined Madame Mathilde Loise and her husband s life, there
could have been many alternate roads that the pair could have taken, had they told
the truth to Madame Forestier, they would not have had to sacrifice ten years of their
lives for an artificial necklace that they deemed as real diamond. I suppose they both
learnt from their mistakes and on their expedition they taught me that the truth always
prevails as it is one of the most powerful attributes of

Alna, Maine, on December 22, 1869, third son of Edward and Mary Elizabeth
Robinson. He described his childhood in Maine as stark and unhappy . His parents
had wanted a girl, and did not name him until he was six months old. When they
vacationed for a holiday there a woman drew a name from a hat and chose Edwin
He hated the family s habit of calling him Win, and as an adult he always signed
himself as E. A. The speakerof Richard Coryuses symbols, imagery, and wordplay.
In the poem Richard Cory, the author describes the townspeople watching him as
the people on the pavement. This creates the assumption that they all admire
Richard Cory for an unknown reason. As the poem continues, he is described as a
gentleman from sole to crown as if he was looked upon as royalty. He s separated
from the speaker by his wealth, his manners, and fashion. These traits make his
death at the end all the more shocking. As a reader, we are left with the realization
that speaker at the end of the poem didn t truly want to be like Cory at all. He was
unhappy and people who idolized him much prefered working for life rather than
be happy and have it all. He was also a man who had everything but had nothing all
at once. Adored by many, but was loved by nobody. Robinson s writing with his
use of imagery and ironic language, gives the reader a sense of how Cory s life was
scrutinized by people who did not know him and was ultimately responsible for his
death. In usual poems the speaker is in the story itself but instead the speaker tells
the story as a viewer because the speaker did not know Cory personally. It seemed
that the speaker forgot about his own life when he observed Richard Cory s but the
speaker is unaware of the suffering that lead to his suicide. Cory must have realized
that the public thought he was everything to make us wish that we were in his place
. Through this use of wordplay, the poem suggests that Cory was forced to act in an
unquestionable way because the public put him on a pedestal. He could never let his
guard down he was constantly surrounded by fanatics that expected him to act and
behave like a man
Cronus Research Paper
I chose Cronus because it was the first god that came to my mind. I didn t know
much about my character but I learned a lot about him. I know that Cronus is a
main character in a video game that is loosely based on Greek Mythology called God
of War.
I was the youngest child of Gaea, the earth, and Uranus, the sky, in Greek mythology.
Unlike most gods, I did not represent a place, event, function, or quality. I belonged
to the race of gods known as Titans. The Roman god Saturn was similar to and
identified with me.
Uranus feared his children and confined them within Gaea s huge body. With Gaea
s help, I castrated and deposed Uranus and became king of the Titans. I married my
sister Rhea, and we had six children. I feared that my children would dethrone me,
and so I swallowed the first five at birth. Rhea hid the last child, Zeus, on the Island of
Crete. Then she tricked me by giving ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I may possibly the most famous of the Titans as I was king and leader of my
brothers fighting against Uranus and eventually the Olympian Gods. Born of
Uranus and Gaia, I was the wiliest and youngest of their offspring and perhaps the
most powerful. I would gain power by overthrowing my father and eventually lose it
by being beaten by my son Zeus.
In greek Mythology, I was the primordial god of time, in which I was described as
a destructive, all devouring force. With the help of my Titan brothers, I was able to
depose my father Uranus and rule the cosmos, ruling during the mythological
Golden Age. Hesiod in his Theogony recorded this saga; I envied the power of my
father, the ruler of the universe. Uranus angered Gaia when he hid her children, the
Hecatonchires and the Cyclopes in Tartarus, and they were imprisoned unable to see
the light. Gaia created a great stone sickle and persuaded me and my Titan brothers to

Gilgamesh Flood Vs Biblical Flood
Global floods have been a shared part of human culture and religion for thousands
of years. A majority of the global flood stories share the same basic framework
which consists of a hero, a means of salvation, and a blessing. The two most popular
flood accounts are the Biblical flood of Noah and the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh.
. These two ancient flood accounts share various topics and ideas throughout both
storylines such as the reason for the flood, a warning that the flood will happen, the
use of birds, blessings from a god, and an offering given. However, neither Christian
scholars nor secular scholars can determine if the Biblical flood or the Epic of
Gilgamesh share a common link. The discovery of the Epic of Gilgamesh occurred...

Yahweh that there was going to be a massive flood to destroy all life. He was given
direct instructions on how to survive and even what size to build the ark, 300x40
cubits and six decks (Genesis 6:15). Noah was also instructed to bring is family
and one or seven pairs of each animal in this warming (Genesis 6:19). Whereas,
Utnapishtim was warned in a more mystical way. He was given a dream that
described a great flood that was to extinguish all living creatures, and was given
instructions on how and what size the boat needed to be. He was also told in his
warning that he need to bring his family, seed of all living creatures, and skilled

Macular Degeneration
Macular degeneration is the second most common cause of blindness in people
over the age of 50, and it is frequently related to the aging process. It is a disorder of
the retina where the cells of the macula degenerate until only the periphery vision
remains. Women, Caucasians, and Asian Americans seem to be more vulnerable
when compared to males, Mexican Americans, and Africans. Macular degeneration
specifically effects individuals ability to read, recognize people s faces, choose

not medical related. The future trend for the treatment of age related macular

individuals who are striving for independence in functioning, as well as to
professionals looking for intervention strategies that might prevent or alter the nature

Similarities Between Mormonism And Rastafarians
Religion as a collective is constantly moving, changing, evolving. With the
introduction of New Religious Movements, pluralism, globalization and glocalization,
interfaith initiatives it seems safe to say that religion will forever remain fluid and
changing, as faiths adapt to culture, society, and the needs of their followers they will
not die out. I believe that Mormonism and Rastafarians show this with great
abundance.
While both Rastafarians and Mormonism share a good amount of similar thoughts,
they also cater to very separate demographics. I realize in writing that statement how
counterintuitive it sounds, thus, first we will explore how Rastafi and Mormons are
similar in their faiths.
Both the Mormon and Rastafarian movements cater to very specific demographics.
Mormonism caters to those who believe that the Christian Church lost it s way after
the death of Christ, and restore what the Mormons consider true Christianity, as
opposed to apostasy (abandonment of principles) which they feel characterizes the
Christian churches. (1) While Rastafari caters to an ethnic group that has
experienced severe oppression at the hands of Babylon , they intend to revive the
Way of the Ancients, their concept of the lost civilization of precolonial Africa, and
to free people of African extraction from subservience. (2) ... Show more content on

Analysis Of Socrates Principle Of Fidelity
Socrates gives Crito three arguments to staying in jail, Principle of Filial Piety,
Principle of Fidelity and Non Malificence contention.
Socrates strongest contention is the Principle of Fidelity as he contends that we must
keep our guarantees.
The wrong detainment naturally voids the assention that Socrates has with the state.
Since the state broke confidence with Socrates by shamefully blaming and sentencing
him, why then would it say it is alright for Socrates to break confidence with them?
Dworkin contends, In practice, the legislature will have the keep going word on what
a singular s rights are yet that does not imply that the administration s perspective is
fundamentally the right view .
By Socrates keeping his end of the guarantee to the legislature, he accept that the

Socrates second contention is the Principle of Filial Piety.
Socrates first preface for the contention is that the relationship between a state and a
resident is like the relationship between a guardian and a tyke.
The thought of Perfectibility gets to be more risky when Socrates analyzes the
relationship of a subject and its state to a youngster and its parent: In ignoring us he
is defying his guardians we are the creators of his instruction .
Socrates practiced his rights as a subject and was rebuffed, be that as it may, as per
Dworkin s thought the state committed an error when detaining him for talking his
brain.
On the off chance that this were the situation, then why did Socrates talk against the
state? The Filial Piety contention gets to be risky as Socrates repudiates his own
particular activities of talking against government officials.
To finish up, I accept that Socrates ought to escape from jail on the grounds that the

In Praise Of Folly, Martin Luther, The Ninety-Five Theses
The sections of history mentioned within this essay discuss very important events
of religious history. Within each section a person or group of people are rebelling
against the religious norm of their time. Erasmus, In Praise of Folly, Martin Luther,
The Ninety five Theses, The Twelve Articles of the Peasants of Swabia, and The
English Act of Supremacy, 1534 are all writings that exemplify this aspect. Within the
time of the northern European Renaissance Erasmus of Rotterdam is considered the

The sixth article asks for gracious consideration to see if their plentiful duties could

Then seventh article demands that the peasant will get paid for their services, but

lords to have persons to look into a way they can fix rent in accordance with justice

conclusion and it basically says that if any of the article are prove not to be of God

to the peasant articles. He believed that they committed threefold horrible sins against
God. The first being that the peasants have sworn to be obedient to their rulers and
because they have deliberately not obeyed their rulers they will be sentence by God.
The second sin that Luther believes the peasants committed was violently robbing the

Air Pollution Is A Serious Issue Across The Country
Air pollution is a serious issue across the country as well as the entire planet.
Whether that air pollution is coming from one source, which could be an electric
power plant, or air pollution that occurs due to a location being inside of a valley,
which can be seen famously in Los Angeles, California. A more local issue can be
seen within the Merrimack Countyof New Hampshirewhere along the Merrimack

no way to escape at a relatively fast rate, thus causing serious air pollution within the

New Hampshire is not alone in the issues that they are facing when it comes to air
pollution.
Other issues that cause the air pollution of a community to be an issue is the use of
incinerators to generate electricity for the community. Although this kind of method
does benefit certain aspects of the environment, the idea of not having a landfill, it
does cause other issues where there are more emissions that pollute the air. Although
not located within the Merrimack County one incinerator located in New Hampshire
does give people a look into how these kinds of structures cause issues with the air
quality. Authors Xiahong Feng, Ann P. Melander, and Bjoern Klaue describe issues
that come from one incinerator located in Claremont, New Hampshire. The authors
talk about how there are many metals that are released into the air causing poor air
quality within the community surrounding it (Feng, Xiahong, Ann P. Melander, and
Bjoern Klaue 2000). Those kinds of issues do also correlate with the issues of young
children developing chronic breathing problems due to being located near those kinds
of electric plants.
Another issues that is not exclusive to New Hampshire but is prevalent due to high
amount of granite rock located within the states, is the issue of radon that can cause
issues with air quality as well. Although there is direct cause for radon being in

said, we must utilize the emic and etic methods during observation, as instructed

observe from an outsiders view (etic), but to actually understand and experience
another culture or society, one must become an insider (emic), or become part of

Middle East region, their methods of recruiting and motivations that drive them to

Queen Elizabeth The Best Queen In European History
On September 7th, at Greenwich Palace in England, a young girl called, the
illegitimate daughter of King Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn was born. Her name
was Elizabeth and she would become one of the most significant English monarchs
of all time. She lost her mother when she was 2 and her father passed away when
she was 13. She was persecuted for heresy by her own sister and locked in the
Tower. Her legacy lives on to this day and her bravery still strikes the hearts and
minds of Englishmen. Though her refusal to marry left her throne empty, Elizabeth I
was the best queen in European history because of her pragmatic nature, devotion to
her people, and her confidence in her beliefs.
Her pragmatic nature is one of the many reasons that Elizabeth is renowned all
over the world. When Elizabeth chose her council she chose a modern and
balanced group of individuals, as she did not want a council that was overly
conservative, old fashioned, or rash (Neale 54). Her chief advisor Sir William Cecil
was equally pragmatic and together they created many clever policies, including ...

Galilee Chapter 5-6 Summary
5:1. The end of chapter 4 showed that Jesus was going to teach the Scriptures all over
Galilee. One day, the multitudes had gathered to hear Jesus teach Gods word. Jesus
not only taught the Scriptures in the synagogue on the Sabbath, but whenever and
wherever the opportunity presented itself.
5:2. As the crowd grew and pressed in on Jesus to hear what He was saying, he
ended up backed up against the water, and so, not wanting to stand in the water and
teach, He decided to get into a boat and teach a little way out from shore.
5:3. The fisherman didn t need their boats while they cleaned the nets, so Jesus got

Income Statement Shows the True Profit of an Entity
An income statement is part of the three main financial statements (balance sheet and
cash flow statement) companies are obliged to produce by law. It is dependent upon
by stakeholder to show a true and fair view for decision making. For instance, a
potential investor that is willing to invest in a particular company. But, the question
arises as to whether an income statementreports the true profit of an entity, and to
what extent it can be relied on by its users. On one side, accountants view that profit
is an increase in net wealth (Mac Neal, 1970). While, an economist might argues that
profit should be seen as terse, obvious, and mathematically demonstrable (Mac Neal,
1970) in the accounts.

Although it is non cash expense, the acknowledgment of depreciation illustrates the
loss (decline) in fixed assets value (About, 2010). It is charged against gross profit,
which gives an edge in the precision to the net income reported. According to Ben
(2007) Income statement profit is relied on for the computation of tax, dividends and
investment policies making it more convincing that it does reflects the truth in the
entity s performance. The Keating (1999) journal further expands on the essential of
depreciation recognition against profit, stating that it gives a more effective internal
decision making and control within the entity. While Scot (2004) argues that The
depreciation/amortization method, the useful life and the salvage value are all

Dickinson concluded that in other words, every appreciation of assets is a profit

that the physical and non physical changes in assets, has to be recognised to affect
profit in the income statement.
On the other hand, depreciation could potentially present false profit if enough
realistic measures are failed to be reflected on the income statement. Discretionary

According to traditional Orthodox Christian history, the 7 deadly sins were
created in the 4th Century by Evagrius Ponticus. Originally his list of sins was
drawn up as a form of education in Christianity. The list of sins included gluttony,

Criminal Law Vs. Private Law
Criminal Law vs. Private Law
The Rule of Law, as expressed through Canadian criminal law is important as our
laws embody the basic moral values of society. The primary aims of criminal law
are to protect the public and preserve peace (Barnhorst Barnhorst, 2013). Law also
imposes limits on our actions and guides our choices in conduct. The conditions of
the Rule of Law ensure that no individual, government or parliament is treated as
above the law, and that everyone must obey the law or they must suffer the
consequences. The primary reason that criminal law is necessary, rather than
governing individual behaviour through private law, is because committing a
criminal offence is seen as committing a crime against society as a whole rather than
an individual. The protection and punishment of the offender should be proportionate
to the offence committed and all Canadian courts should attempt to administer
punishment to offenders using a Canada wide set of laws which are based on
similar cases that occurred in the past, rather than private laws in order to avoid bias
in different jurisdictions and areas of Canada. Citizens of countries that do not adhere
to recognize the rule of law are often unable to stand up against the government or
other powerful interests without fear or attack and there are often reports of human
rights violations (The Law Society of British Columbia, 2013). A country that is not
governed by the rule of law would result in laws and court proceedings
Epictetus Club Analysis
The Epictetus Club In ancient Rome, there was this philosopher who was born a
slave. His name was Epictetus. According to Traylor in his book The Epictetus
Club, Epictetus master crippled him when he was young, and as a result, Epictetus
endured poor health for the rest of his life. Instead of growing resentful of his
circumstances, he chose to allow his difficulties to bring good. He made himself
stronger, kinder, and wiser in order to live a healthier mental life (Traylor, 2004. P
11). When he was gifted with his liberty, Epictetus started teaching principles of
personal freedom and tranquility (Traylor, 2004. P 11). His followers became so
numerous that it alarmed the Roman Empire rulers. When the emperor requested
that he shave off his beard to show the public his subservience to the emperor , he
declined (Traylor, 2004. P 12). Subsequently, Epictetus was ordered into exile. In
Greece, his place of exile, he opened a small school. According to Traylor, this school
taught students how to live a life of serenity and purpose (p 12). Traylor wrote, He

wake up for 14 days (these days do not have to be in a row) at 5am to go to his or
her local coffeehouse (an optional place with multiple brewers and grinders where
all drinkers can meet and have coffee before they start their day) to brew and grind
coffee for the other drinkers. Because those 14 days do not have to be completed
consecutively, the public dedication could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 6
months. Once this stage is finished, the Drinker is judged on his coffee by the
members of his coffeehouse. Depending on his score, he may be able to attend
Barista School. If the Drinker does not make a high enough score this step must be

Stephen Beadnell October 18, 2010 Strategic Initiative Paper Introduction This paper
will address the strategic and financial planning associated with the operations of
Disney. In addition, the paper will show the correlation between strategic and
financial planning. The impact of the organization s initiative costs, sales, and
associated risks the organization encounters during the financial and strategic
planning will be addressed. Thus, the financial planning process provides a tool for
preparing for the future working capital requirements of the firm. (Keown, 2005)...

However, focusing primarily on the impact the Disney Company, the effects could
be more drastic. One scenario is the parties do not reach an agreement in regard to
the streaming fees Disney wants to charge Netflix and the companies discontinue
business. Netflix will no longer provide Disney movies for rent, this could lead to a
decrease in potential sales and free advertising for Disney. It could be said that
Netflix users will select from a the remainder of the selection of movies available,
however, according to the article, the likelihood is that Netflix will negotiate with
The Disney Company so there are no limitations put on the amount of streaming
video Netflix can offer . This will actually increase the current acquisition costs for
Netflix at an estimated incremental one percent acquisition cost. There will be a
positive impact on sales for Disney due to the additional charges able to be acquired
through attaching fees to the online streaming content. As a result of restructuring
and creating multiple departments within Disney, the organization s financial
planning is efficient. The organization has identified financial goals, prioritized those
goals, and developed a financial plan by using the legacy information to determine the
organization s financial forecast. The organization focuses on key relationships that
will provide additional resources for the business,
The Dangers Of Coal
The Dangers of Coal : The dangers to the miners themselves are only a portion of the
problem. Environmental issues abound as well. Strip mining has caused massive
environmental complications.numerous accidents throughout the years. The danger
of black lung disease from long time exposure in coal mines is also well
documented. They cause environmental issues. Coalmining carries numerous risks. It
is harmful to the planet. It is harmful to people involved in any aspect . it. Some of
the threats are immediate, while some side effects will not appear for a long time.
Reasons for Mining Coal: Coal is the most abundant of the fossil fuels (coal, oil, and
natural gas), and the US produces more than a billion tons of it every year. Half
Strategies In The Battle Of Agincourt
The Battle of Agincourt is known as one of the greatest because of the circumstances
surrounding it. Arguably, it is among the most distinguished battle wins of the
English because nobody expected them to defeat the French. The reason was that the
French army had four times more troops than it did, and everyone expected it to lose
because of this. However, there are a number of factors that were at play that
surpassed the numbers the French had and necessitated the English win. Such factors
had to do with the strategies that were employed by the English, the conditions at the
battlefield, and, most importantly, the leadership in place. It is true that history is
written by the victors. While it is commonly agreed that the French army heavily
outnumbered the English, the exact numbers are open to debate. Undoubtedly, as the
years passed and Agincourt became the perfect never give up example, it is quite
possible that the numbers advantage the French had wasn t as large as initially seen.
Anne Curry, in her book Agincourt: A New History, maintains that the actual
advantage the French had was roughly 12,000 to 9,000, rather than the 4:1 ratio most
historians argue for (Curry 192). If this is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gear was especially a burden in the hand to hand combat because it prevented the
French from doing anything. They could not match the speed that the less armored
Englishmen had, which thus prompted their lack of effectiveness. The dressing
doubled the energy that the French used in the battlefield and is actually said to be
among the most significant contributors to their loss. The muddiness, as mentioned
above, made the match to the battlefield quite cumbersome to the French. As such,
they were already tired by the time they reached the place for the actual battle, which
made them less
American Military During The War Era
William Heck
Dr Milam
Americans in the Desert
1991 was one of the most prominent moments in American military times of the
post Cold War era, though it was only a six week siege, it is comparable to the wars
in Afghanistan, Korea, and Vietnam. It s shortness in duration does not take away
from the incredible magnitiude of absolute destruction and size of the war itself. This
is the Gulf War, and America was going to dominate. To this day people wonder if
the Bush Administration at the time had just cause to go to war with Iraq, who was
under Saddam Hussein at the time. Through this paper I will be justifying that
America was probably not in the right in starting this war, only going in for it s best
interest. Many different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To give you perspective, World War II lasted three hundred and 10 weeks and that
war was known for aereal bomb droppings. In just two weeks of being in combat
with Iraq, Coalition forces dropped more explosives in two weeks than all of
World War 2. We were giving Saddam and his troops a complete display of shock
and awe. At the peak of troop numbers we had 430,000 and every day American
forces were moving 6 million pounds of supplies daily. The bottom of the line is
that the Coalition, mainly America, was going to win this war via superior
technology and man power. Before this war, the Republican Guard was seen as the
greatest military force in the Middle East and no one was going to beat them. We
see in the six week campaign that this was not to be the case, as casualty reports for
the Iraq side to be 20,000 all the way up to almost 35,000. Whereas US forces had
148 KIA throughout the entirty of the seven month event including both operations.
America might have no lost many soldiers, but the amount of finances used during
this war was staggering. The US forces were paying $17.9 billion dollars for the
war where as the rest of the coalition forces of 35 other countries were a combined
$43.1 billion. This does not include the massive amount of subsidies that Saudi Arabia
had given the allies, amounting to $43 billion by the time it is all said and done.
Kuwait, who had already been riddled by the burning of 640 of their oil wells paid
$22 billion

The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age
During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age,
there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters
to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political
character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having
many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really
see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were.
One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both
the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part
in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was
known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English
Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards,
and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were
the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the
Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic
tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of
Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his
efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he
wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted
Europe to become fuller of culture and intellectual
Essay My experience at the Riverside Metropolitan Museum
INTRODUCTION Some say that it is better not to dwell on the past because it cannot
be changed. To these people, it is not necessarily bad to reminisce on what has
happened throughout the years, but it is better to focus on what is taking place right
now. They believe that the present is another chance to start fresh and anew without
letting past experiences burden them. However, what they do not seem to realize is
that the past, present, and future are interrelated. The present is a result of the past,
while the future depends entirely on the choices, (and course of action for those
choices), that are made in the present. With that being said, studying humanity and
past cultures are significant to society. Attempting to understand why... Show more

The collections of this museum include displays for the Natural History,
Anthropology, and History departments. Although not all of the exhibits are shown
year round, the display for the Native Americans of Southern California is. It
features the Chumash, Tongva, Serrano, Luiseno, Cahuilla, and Kumeyaay tribes.
There are also some exhibits for non Californian tribes such as the Navajo and
Pueblo peoples. Out of all of the aforementioned tribes, this paper mainly focuses
on the Luiseno, Kumeyaay, and Navajo. These three stood out the most because of
the contents within each of the exhibits. The artifacts associated with each culture
were unique and eye catching. MUSEUM EXHIBIT 1) Artifact Display The three
departments mentioned earlier were divided into distinct sections and subsections.
The exhibits for the Natural History collection were located on the left side of the
museum. It included different displays for perfectly preserved animal specimens,
minerals, fossils of plants, and desert findings by American biologist, Edmund C.
Jaeger. Located directly across from this segment was the History section, which
consisted of artifacts relating to tools and equipment as well as pictures of early
residents in order to show how Riverside developed over time. In addition to this,
different time periods in American history were displayed such as the Civil War. It
contained personal portraits, old models of weapons, and replicas of
Gender Shift In Crime Dramas
In recent years, there has been a gender shift in crime dramas on television. In the
70s, 80s, and early 90s, the viewer saw the lead characters to be heavily male
dominated with a woman thrown in for mostly sex appeal. The shift from the
stereotypical nuclear family, with a stay at home mom, has impacted many genres of
televisionprograming and exemplified in Paul Cantor s The Simpson: Atomistic
Politics and the Nuclear Family, when referring to the deviation from a historic ideal
family in fact [the breakdown] should be regarded as a form of liberation from an
image of the family that may have been good enough for the 1950 s but is no longer
valid in the 1990 s (737). Popular television has extracted women from their
household ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the viewer never really sees her as a mother but as an agent in the FBI.
Deborah Jermyn examines this issue in Women with a Mission: Lynda La Plante,
DCI Jane Tennison and the Reconfiguration of TV Crime Drama, in which she
claims, to cross the boundaries of equality of profession and establish credibility,
many of the lead females are portrayed as single and childless or an absentee parent
(48). The negative message sent to viewers is that motherhood takes a back seat to a
career that has importance. While there are women who will choose a career over
motherhood, for most women motherhood and the caring of their child is a priority
in their life. This portrayal of motherhood undermines the reality of what motherhood
is to a woman.
Crime dramas also tend to portray women as unable to have a career and simply be
happy. Women are unrealistically portrayed in the workplace. There always seems
to be a character that is running from a personal demon. There is Olivia Benson in
Law and Order: SVU who cannot maintain a meaningful relationship with a man.
She is either constantly single or sucked into a relationship that has several problems
such as a boyfriend on the police force who finds himself in a bind because of his
tendency to indulge in illegal activities. CSI s Catherine Willows always struggled
with motherhood and being a single mom. She has an ex husband who, for the
longest time throughout the
Poldark Season 3 Analysis
As Poldark season 3 continues, the show is teasing another confrontation between
Ross and George. One that has mostly been simmering in the season so far.
Poldark is not necessarily at its best when it pits Ross Poldark and George
Warleggan against each other. But, like it or not, their fates are effectively
intertwined. Much as we love Demelza and Ross and their shared scenes, it s hard to
deny that when Aidan Turner and Jack Farthing share a screen, there s generally
some high quality (melo)drama.
Fortunately, the show has not given up on pitting them against each other even with
season 3 trying to keep them apart.
In fact, Masterpiece has already put out a trailer that hints directly at the two of them
squaring off yet again, this time over Ross new favorite brother in law (though the
competition wasn t that strong, Drake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After all, he says, the people will rise up, and I will be powerless to stop them. The
unlike last time is left unsaid, at least in this trailer, but it hangs heavy over the scene
nevertheless.
Ross does good things (sometimes), and they ve earned him some sway with people.
Unfortunately, Ross has also spent most of the season in France, traveling to France,
or thinking about France (with the exception of the winter grain purchasing, which
was mostly handled by Demelza and Caroline anyway). Meanwhile, Drake has filled
some of that popularity gap as well.
And, well, it rather seems like George can t stand any of this.
As a result, on one hand, we have Ross, finally focused on matters at home full time
and finding himself going to bat for a brother in law that got shot trying to rescue
Dwight. On the other hand, we have George, who s found himself stymied at almost
every turn.
NEXT: Riverdale: Dark Betty vs. Assertive Betty vs...Regular Betty?
We re not saying there might be a problem for George even if Drake lives, but we re
definitely thinking it very

  • 1. Native American Culture Essay Crafting an essay on Native American culture presents a multifaceted challenge that extends beyond the typical academic hurdles. The intricate tapestry of Native American traditions, histories, and contemporary issues demands a nuanced understanding and a delicate approach. First and foremost, the diversity among Native American tribes necessitates thorough research to avoid generalizations and stereotypes. Navigating through the vast array of cultural elements – from spirituality and traditional ceremonies to art, language, and daily practices – requires a deep dive into each aspect. Moreover, addressing the historical injustices, colonization, and ongoing struggles faced by Native communities demands sensitivity and respect. Beyond the cultural intricacies, tackling the essay also involves the responsibility of acknowledging and grappling with the impact of external forces on Native American communities. This includes exploring the complexities of government policies, socioeconomic challenges, and the preservation of cultural heritage in the face of modernization. Furthermore, the essay should strive to present an authentic and respectful portrayal of Native American perspectives, giving a platform for their voices to be heard. This adds an additional layer of complexity as it involves not just academic research but a commitment to cultural understanding and empathy. In essence, writing an essay on Native American culture requires not only scholarly skills but also a genuine appreciation for diversity, a keen awareness of historical contexts, and a compassionate approach to contemporary issues. • 2. Transformation of Reality as Portrayed in Don Quixote Transformation of Reality as Portrayed in Don Quixote Throughout his novel, Don Quixote, Miguel Cervantes effectively uses the transformation of reality to critique and reflect societal and literary norms. In three distinct scenes, Don Quixote or his partner, Sancho, transform reality. Often they are met with other s discontent. It is through the innkeeper scene, the windmill scene, the Benedictine friar scene, and Quixote s deathbed scene that Cervantes contemplates revolutionary philosophies and literary techniques. The theme of reality transformation does not even stop there. Sometimes the transformations of reality scenes act as mimetic devices. Ultimately, Miguel Cervantes use of transformative scenes acts as a creative ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reader knows the Don Quixote is extremely well read, and they also are aware the Sancho is illiterate. In this scene, Sancho is depicted as the level headed and sane one. So Cervantes is disassociating common sense with academic knowledge. He is challenging what society had deemed as certain that academic knowledge makes an individual infallible in their reasoning skills, and that there is no other worthy type of knowledge. A final scene in which Miguel Cervantes transforms reality is the Benedictine friar scene. Previous examples have highlighted his revolutionary attitudes towards societal conventions, but this scene highlights his revolutionary literary techniques. Cervantes writes, As they were conversing in this manner, there appeared in the road in front of them two friars of the Order of St. Benedict, mounted upon dromedaries for the she mules they rode were certainly no smaller than that (2250). For a split second, this line forces readers to have in their minds something that could not possibly exist in seventeenth century Spain. His use of language and word placement was new for his time period. It is through this passage, and this line in particular, which Cervantes creative literary genius shows. Don Quixote is not only a novel about how Don Quixote perceives the world but also how other
  • 3. New Year Eve Party Essay New Year s Eve has become one of the biggest days of the year for parties and events throughout the world. Therefore, an unlimited amount of events are planned and executed on the last day of the year; this year I attended a New Year eve party at the house of a co worker. The party was held in a neighborhood just inside the city of Charlotte. It has been a while since I attended a house party, so there are some aspects that come along with a house party that will increase the amount of risk associated with the staging of the New Year Eve party. The name of the event was Shari and Cue s New Year Eve party; the event was held on December 31, 2015. The party started at 9:00pm, and was scheduled to end at 2:00 am January 1, 2016. However... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The event was held at a house so the facility was well managed. There was one entrance into the basement, which led to the crowd being forced to use the same stairway to enter and exit the through the same area. I would have suggested that the event planners had selected another venue to hold the party because the party had a cramped feeling to it. Therefore, the exit and entrance was clearly marked, but it was a lack of actually signs used to identify the exit and entrance. The nature of the event made the need for security to be moot, everyone that was invited to the event was friends of the party host. Thus, security may have been overkill at an event of this scale. The event was lacking ADA accommodations, if there was an attendee that need ADA accommodations to make to the basement where the majority of the activities were being held, then the lack of wheelchair access would have been an issue. When planning an event, the scale and scope of the event is vital to consider the size of the crowd that will be attending the event. The New Year Eve party had between 50 60 attendees throughout the course of the event. Based on the information provided by the event planner, there was probably 15 more guest than they initial planned to host at the party. The location of the event caused the flow of the traffic to become a possible issue. When holding an event in a private neighborhood, there will be a limited number

The constant advancements in technology has kept people in the loop of buying the newest phones and other devices. With advertisers urging people to buy the next Iphone or Samsung galaxy, while still having a well functioning phone most people will still go out and buy it. In my mind I think this logic is ridiculous although it has become imbedded in society. I feel grateful that I have become aware of these seller tactics that way I do not follow these corporate schemes which are all about money. Through enough personal experiences I have my own views that these outlets of entertainment have improved some aspects of modern day relationships but not all. Social Media has allowed me to share and see pictures that my friends and family have posted. It brings me a sense of joy to see people I know having their own extraordinary adventures and achievements. It motivates me to do more with my life as I get new ideas by seeing what they are doing. • 5. Afghanistan Pros And Cons Although the Taliban was able to provide economic growth in Afghanistan, it was at the expense of global addiction. Further, economic growth was short lasting because in 2001, the Taliban banned opium production as a result of overproduction and a significant price decrease. The ban did increase opium prices, however it had devastated many farmers, who were left with large unpaid loans to drug dealers and no source of income (Descent into Chaos 320). Opposition to the Talibantherefore increased amongst the Afghan population (320). Moreover, even though the Taliban was at first praised for bringing relative peace and security to the regions they captured, their social and religious policies were widely unpopular (Barfield 289). Widows were therefore forced to beg in the streets and sell their goods (Invisible Women 7). The Taliban also forced women to wear burqas, and if they failed to cover themselves properly, they were subject to public beatings(7). Education for women also deteriorated when the Taliban rose to power. Prior to the Taliban regime, Statistics by the Feminist Majority Foundation revealed that over half of the student body of Afghanistan s universities were women (8), but once Taliban took over, women were prohibited from attending school. Numerous other rules imposed by the Taliban disallowed women from equal opportunity, such as the Taliban s refusal to provide women access to medical care, their requirement that women must at all times be accompanied by a male chaperone, women prohibition from driving, and women being unable to wear white burqas, white socks, or white shoes, amongst other laws (Invisible 8). Failure to abide by the Taliban rules led to harsh, and sometimes barbaric, punishments. Subsequently, these irrational rules left widespread feelings of anxiety, depression, and hopelessness among Afghan women
  • 6. Mercutio Foil In Shakespeare s famous play Romeo and Juliet, the most memorable character, Mercutio, was killed off early, but he still managed to contribute greatly to the plot of the tragic love story. Everybody knows one of the main themes of the play is love, however Mercutio is an anti romantic character making him a foil to Romeo. Another importance of him is his witty, extravagant way with words that diverts all the attention to him and enlightens the scenes. The name Mercutio itself origins from the term mercurial, which means unpredictable changes of mood and mind, and just like them Mercutio s hot headed, wild personality leads to situations in the play that help escalate the play. Mercutio s significant traits make him the most memorable to the play. Although one of the main themes of the play was love, Mercutio s opinion on it is contradicting. Anyone who has ever heard of Romeo and Juliet knows that the story involves young lovers that fall in love so deeply they die for it, Mercutio, however, has a different outlook on love than love sick Romeo. Mercutio mocks Romeo s idea of love in the story with the Queen Mab speech and describes love as a physical pursuit. His opinions contrasts with Romeo s, making Mercutio a foil and helps us better comprehend Romeo s character. Mercutio goes on to talk about dreams in his speech saying they are just a man s desires and often leads to false hope for dreamers. This makes Romeo s dream of his love for Rosaline doubtful, therefore

Super Bowl System Analysis In the summer of 2012, the NCAA announced that college football would be getting rid of the previous postseason championship system, the BCS bowl system, and have a four team playoff to figure out who will be the next national champion. The BCS bowl system was a selection system that had the two highest ranking teams, based off of rankings from the Associated Press (AP), face off for the national championship. The new system involves a group of twelve people that decide who the top four teams in Division I college footballare, rather than the press deciding the rankings solely based off of a team s record. • 11. Job Satisfaction And Strategic Outcomes Class Date Job Satisfaction and Engagement in Relation to Financial Outcomes Working is a very prominent part of life. According to the United States Labor Department (2014), the average person between 25 and 54 spends about 8.7 hours at work. Doing the math of dividing this figure by the 24 hours in a day provides the solution that the average person spends about 40% of his or her day at work. That is almost half a day and involves the greatest average amount of time spent doing any daily activity including sleeping. Not only do we spend most of our day at work, but working is necessary for daily life. We work to make money and money is then used to buy what we need and want. Therefore, it is very important to make as much money as possible. Job satisfaction and job engagement are two important factors in work life that could contribute to financial outcomes. Job satisfaction is determined by how happy a person is at his or her job. This measurement has multiple factors that can contribute to it. According to Brian Hill (2015), one category of factors that contributes to job satisfaction involves the various physical work conditions at place in the employee s work environment. These conditions can include temperature, climate, comfort and physical demands. For example, someone may be happier working in a comfortable environment with appropriate physical demands as opposed to a job that requires them to be too hot or too cold and exert too much physical energy.

Inadequate or inappropriate lighting has been recently associated with migraine and vision disorders in some individuals (Berkley, 2006). This image evokes an emotional response because it has a baby penguin looking scared behind its mom, while the ice they are on is melting. It also illustrates a point that leaving lights on can cause global warming because it states it in the text. The light shining on the penguins looks like it is melting the ice they are standing on. I selected this image because it caught my eye and then made me read the text, which shows that it is an effective PSA. I also think global warming is a problem and I did not know that leaving lights on made such a big impact. This image can be analyzed by looking at the six rhetorical factors: character and action, setting, point of view, use of color, special effects, and image presentation. First, the characters and action in this advertisement make a large impact on this image. The penguins are struggling and are fearful for their lives. The animal s facial expressions express how they are distressed that the light is causing the ice they are standing on to melt. This displays how much of a problem global warming is and how we should be more fearful of the impact it is making in the colder climates. One sources states Specifically, more than two thirds of Antarctica s emperor penguin colonies will decline by more than 50 percent by the end of the century under future climate change scenarios (Palermo). This shows that global warming is truly hurting the penguins and many other animals similar. The picture suggests an action to turn off lights to help reduce the pollution. Second, the setting of the image takes place somewhere cold, which is the main area affected by global warming. The penguins are standing on a block of ice symbolizing the Arctic and the block of ice is melting. The Science Daily reports that ice melting rates were 25 times higher than expected in localized areas of Antarctica s largest

To speak the truth is to set oneself free as they are not tied to any sense of guilt, they can move on with their lives and not worry about the consequences. This one act of hiding the truth had essentially ruined Madame Mathilde Loise and her husband s life, there could have been many alternate roads that the pair could have taken, had they told the truth to Madame Forestier, they would not have had to sacrifice ten years of their lives for an artificial necklace that they deemed as real diamond. I suppose they both learnt from their mistakes and on their expedition they taught me that the truth always prevails as it is one of the most powerful attributes of
  • 19. Symbolism In Richard Cory, By Edwin Arlington Robinson Edwin Arlington Robinson was born in the village of Head Tide in the town of Alna, Maine, on December 22, 1869, third son of Edward and Mary Elizabeth Robinson. He described his childhood in Maine as stark and unhappy . His parents had wanted a girl, and did not name him until he was six months old. When they vacationed for a holiday there a woman drew a name from a hat and chose Edwin He hated the family s habit of calling him Win, and as an adult he always signed himself as E. A. The speakerof Richard Coryuses symbols, imagery, and wordplay. In the poem Richard Cory, the author describes the townspeople watching him as the people on the pavement. This creates the assumption that they all admire Richard Cory for an unknown reason. As the poem continues, he is described as a gentleman from sole to crown as if he was looked upon as royalty. He s separated from the speaker by his wealth, his manners, and fashion. These traits make his death at the end all the more shocking. As a reader, we are left with the realization that speaker at the end of the poem didn t truly want to be like Cory at all. He was unhappy and people who idolized him much prefered working for life rather than be happy and have it all. He was also a man who had everything but had nothing all at once. Adored by many, but was loved by nobody. Robinson s writing with his use of imagery and ironic language, gives the reader a sense of how Cory s life was scrutinized by people who did not know him and was ultimately responsible for his death. In usual poems the speaker is in the story itself but instead the speaker tells the story as a viewer because the speaker did not know Cory personally. It seemed that the speaker forgot about his own life when he observed Richard Cory s but the speaker is unaware of the suffering that lead to his suicide. Cory must have realized that the public thought he was everything to make us wish that we were in his place . Through this use of wordplay, the poem suggests that Cory was forced to act in an unquestionable way because the public put him on a pedestal. He could never let his guard down he was constantly surrounded by fanatics that expected him to act and behave like a man

I know that Cronus is a main character in a video game that is loosely based on Greek Mythology called God of War. I was the youngest child of Gaea, the earth, and Uranus, the sky, in Greek mythology. Unlike most gods, I did not represent a place, event, function, or quality. With Gaea s help, I castrated and deposed Uranus and became king of the Titans. I married my sister Rhea, and we had six children. • 36. Criminal Law Vs. Private Law Criminal Law vs. Private Law The Rule of Law, as expressed through Canadian criminal law is important as our laws embody the basic moral values of society. The primary aims of criminal law are to protect the public and preserve peace (Barnhorst Barnhorst, 2013). Law also imposes limits on our actions and guides our choices in conduct. The conditions of the Rule of Law ensure that no individual, government or parliament is treated as above the law, and that everyone must obey the law or they must suffer the consequences. The primary reason that criminal law is necessary, rather than governing individual behaviour through private law, is because committing a criminal offence is seen as committing a crime against society as a whole rather than an individual. The protection and punishment of the offender should be proportionate to the offence committed and all Canadian courts should attempt to administer punishment to offenders using a Canada wide set of laws which are based on similar cases that occurred in the past, rather than private laws in order to avoid bias in different jurisdictions and areas of Canada. Citizens of countries that do not adhere to recognize the rule of law are often unable to stand up against the government or other powerful interests without fear or attack and there are often reports of human rights violations (The Law Society of British Columbia, 2013). A country that is not governed by the rule of law would result in laws and court proceedings

However, focusing primarily on the impact the Disney Company, the effects could be more drastic. One scenario is the parties do not reach an agreement in regard to the streaming fees Disney wants to charge Netflix and the companies discontinue business. Netflix will no longer provide Disney movies for rent, this could lead to a decrease in potential sales and free advertising for Disney. It could be said that Netflix users will select from a the remainder of the selection of movies available, however, according to the article, the likelihood is that Netflix will negotiate with The Disney Company so there are no limitations put on the amount of streaming video Netflix can offer . This will actually increase the current acquisition costs for Netflix at an estimated incremental one percent acquisition cost. There will be a positive impact on sales for Disney due to the additional charges able to be acquired through attaching fees to the online streaming content. As a result of restructuring and creating multiple departments within Disney, the organization s financial planning is efficient. The organization has identified financial goals, prioritized those goals, and developed a financial plan by using the legacy information to determine the organization s financial forecast. The organization focuses on key relationships that will provide additional resources for the business,

  • 41. Strategies In The Battle Of Agincourt The Battle of Agincourt is known as one of the greatest because of the circumstances surrounding it. Arguably, it is among the most distinguished battle wins of the English because nobody expected them to defeat the French. The reason was that the French army had four times more troops than it did, and everyone expected it to lose because of this. However, there are a number of factors that were at play that surpassed the numbers the French had and necessitated the English win. Such factors had to do with the strategies that were employed by the English, the conditions at the battlefield, and, most importantly, the leadership in place. It is true that history is written by the victors. While it is commonly agreed that the French army heavily outnumbered the English, the exact numbers are open to debate. Undoubtedly, as the years passed and Agincourt became the perfect never give up example, it is quite possible that the numbers advantage the French had wasn t as large as initially seen. Anne Curry, in her book Agincourt: A New History, maintains that the actual advantage the French had was roughly 12,000 to 9,000, rather than the 4:1 ratio most historians argue for (Curry 192). If this is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The gear was especially a burden in the hand to hand combat because it prevented the French from doing anything. They could not match the speed that the less armored Englishmen had, which thus prompted their lack of effectiveness. The dressing doubled the energy that the French used in the battlefield and is actually said to be among the most significant contributors to their loss. The muddiness, as mentioned above, made the match to the battlefield quite cumbersome to the French. As such, they were already tired by the time they reached the place for the actual battle, which made them less
  • 42. American Military During The War Era William Heck Dr Milam Americans in the Desert 1991 was one of the most prominent moments in American military times of the post Cold War era, though it was only a six week siege, it is comparable to the wars in Afghanistan, Korea, and Vietnam. It s shortness in duration does not take away from the incredible magnitiude of absolute destruction and size of the war itself. This is the Gulf War, and America was going to dominate. To this day people wonder if the Bush Administration at the time had just cause to go to war with Iraq, who was under Saddam Hussein at the time. Through this paper I will be justifying that America was probably not in the right in starting this war, only going in for it s best interest. Many different ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To give you perspective, World War II lasted three hundred and 10 weeks and that war was known for aereal bomb droppings. In just two weeks of being in combat with Iraq, Coalition forces dropped more explosives in two weeks than all of World War 2. We were giving Saddam and his troops a complete display of shock and awe. At the peak of troop numbers we had 430,000 and every day American forces were moving 6 million pounds of supplies daily. The bottom of the line is that the Coalition, mainly America, was going to win this war via superior technology and man power. Before this war, the Republican Guard was seen as the greatest military force in the Middle East and no one was going to beat them. We see in the six week campaign that this was not to be the case, as casualty reports for the Iraq side to be 20,000 all the way up to almost 35,000. Whereas US forces had 148 KIA throughout the entirty of the seven month event including both operations. America might have no lost many soldiers, but the amount of finances used during this war was staggering. The US forces were paying $17.9 billion dollars for the war where as the rest of the coalition forces of 35 other countries were a combined $43.1 billion. This does not include the massive amount of subsidies that Saudi Arabia had given the allies, amounting to $43 billion by the time it is all said and done. Kuwait, who had already been riddled by the burning of 640 of their oil wells paid $22 billion

  • 44. The Similarities Of Charlemagne And The Medieval Age During the time period of 400 A.D to 1500, otherwise known as the Medieval Age, there lived a variety of important people to history, ranging from political characters to simple yet dangerous travelers. Of all these important people, the political character Charlemagne and the cultural icon Geoffrey Chaucer stand out as having many similarities and a few differences that are worth describing in detail to really see how alike people in the Medieval Age really were. One similarity between Charlemagne and Geoffrey Chaucer is that they were both the Father of something. This title meant that the person of interest played a big part in a change that became the new norm for the rest of history. Charlemagne was known as the Father of Europe and Geoffrey was known as the Father of English Literature . Charlemagne was the former king of the Franks, king of the Lombards, and was the first Roman emperor for the Holy Roman Empire. One of his reigns were the Franks, which were a Germanic tribe in Belgium, France, Luxemburg, the Netherlands, and western Germany. One of his main goals were to unite all Germanic tribes under one kingdom and convert them to Christianity. It was because of Charlemagne that Christianity remained relevant in the west because of all his efforts. Another one of his main goals was the Carolingian Renaissance, which he wanted to be a cultural and intellectual revival of Europe. This meant that he wanted Europe to become fuller of culture and intellectual
  • 45. Essay My experience at the Riverside Metropolitan Museum INTRODUCTION Some say that it is better not to dwell on the past because it cannot be changed. To these people, it is not necessarily bad to reminisce on what has happened throughout the years, but it is better to focus on what is taking place right now. They believe that the present is another chance to start fresh and anew without letting past experiences burden them. However, what they do not seem to realize is that the past, present, and future are interrelated. The present is a result of the past, while the future depends entirely on the choices, (and course of action for those choices), that are made in the present. With that being said, studying humanity and past cultures are significant to society. Attempting to understand why... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 46. Gender Shift In Crime Dramas In recent years, there has been a gender shift in crime dramas on television. In the 70s, 80s, and early 90s, the viewer saw the lead characters to be heavily male dominated with a woman thrown in for mostly sex appeal. The shift from the stereotypical nuclear family, with a stay at home mom, has impacted many genres of televisionprograming and exemplified in Paul Cantor s The Simpson: Atomistic Politics and the Nuclear Family, when referring to the deviation from a historic ideal family in fact [the breakdown] should be regarded as a form of liberation from an image of the family that may have been good enough for the 1950 s but is no longer valid in the 1990 s (737). Deborah Jermyn examines this issue in Women with a Mission: Lynda La Plante, DCI Jane Tennison and the Reconfiguration of TV Crime Drama, in which she claims, to cross the boundaries of equality of profession and establish credibility, many of the lead females are portrayed as single and childless or an absentee parent (48). The negative message sent to viewers is that motherhood takes a back seat to a career that has importance. While there are women who will choose a career over motherhood, for most women motherhood and the caring of their child is a priority in their life. This portrayal of motherhood undermines the reality of what motherhood is to a woman. Crime dramas also tend to portray women as unable to have a career and simply be happy. Women are unrealistically portrayed in the workplace. There always seems to be a character that is running from a personal demon. There is Olivia Benson in Law and Order: SVU who cannot maintain a meaningful relationship with a man. She is either constantly single or sucked into a relationship that has several problems such as a boyfriend on the police force who finds himself in a bind because of his tendency to indulge in illegal activities. CSI s Catherine Willows always struggled with motherhood and being a single mom. She has an ex husband who, for the longest time throughout the
  • 47. Poldark Season 3 Analysis As Poldark season 3 continues, the show is teasing another confrontation between Ross and George. One that has mostly been simmering in the season so far. Poldark is not necessarily at its best when it pits Ross Poldark and George Warleggan against each other. But, like it or not, their fates are effectively intertwined. Much as we love Demelza and Ross and their shared scenes, it s hard to deny that when Aidan Turner and Jack Farthing share a screen, there s generally some high quality (melo)drama. Fortunately, the show has not given up on pitting them against each other even with season 3 trying to keep them apart. In fact, Masterpiece has already put out a trailer that hints directly at the two of them squaring off yet again, this time over Ross new favorite brother in law (though the competition wasn t that strong, Drake ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After all, he says, the people will rise up, and I will be powerless to stop them. The unlike last time is left unsaid, at least in this trailer, but it hangs heavy over the scene nevertheless. Ross does good things (sometimes), and they ve earned him some sway with people. Unfortunately, Ross has also spent most of the season in France, traveling to France, or thinking about France (with the exception of the winter grain purchasing, which was mostly handled by Demelza and Caroline anyway). Meanwhile, Drake has filled some of that popularity gap as well. And, well, it rather seems like George can t stand any of this. As a result, on one hand, we have Ross, finally focused on matters at home full time and finding himself going to bat for a brother in law that got shot trying to rescue Dwight. On the other hand, we have George, who s found himself stymied at almost every turn. NEXT: Riverdale: Dark Betty vs. Assertive Betty vs...Regular Betty?
