Gala Bingo Incident
Gala Bingo in Slough robbed twice in three days
The Gala Bingo venue in Slough hasn t had much luck this month. The bingo venue was robbed
twice in the space of just three days.
On November 5, two armed men are believed to robbed the bingo road at 7.45pm, whilst the bingo
hall was packed with customers. The Gala Bingo Slough venue claimed they carried a firearm and a
knife. After threatening staff members, they stole money from the till and drove off in a blue car.
Reports of the thieves describe them as athletic, black, and about 6ft tall. Both men were wearing
balaclavas. There is no description of a third man (the getaway driver).
Less than three days on (on the Sunday), at 3.55am, the club was once again robbed. This time,

Canicula Snapshots Of A Girlhood El La Faza Analysis
In Norma Cantu s Canicula: Snapshots of a girlhood el la Frontera, she addresses the topic of
identity which is examined through the photographs of her past. In her story, it s about how she
grew up between two different countries of the U.S and Mexico. The narrator is searching for
who she is within the two countries, which makes it hard for her to find herself as one culture
can criticize the other. In one of the stories, Mexican Citizen the narrator is now faced to identify
her identity as she now gets her U.S immigration papers. In these papers we see that the color of
her skin listed is Blanco , on the other hand, her Mexico documents state that she s Moreno . This
shows two different identities that based just on her color of her skin. The narrator is able to
cross the border occasionally without her parents that she then realizes the conflict of between the
two cultures when she decides to live with Mamagrande in Monterrey. She interacts with her
cousins, but they don t seem to get along with her very well since she doesn t know their way of
things I sing to them silly nursery rhymes and tell them these are great songs: Humpty Dumpty,
Jack and Jill, Little Miss Muffet, Old McDonald. They listen fascinated, awed, but then they laugh
when I don t know their games (Cantu 23). We see that even though she can speak Spanish, the
narrator still has trouble living in Mexico and she then faces problems trying to find her identity
when she experiences the conflicts

The Man In The Water By Roger Rosenblatt
How hard is it to do the right thing? In the article, The Man in the Water , many people did the
right thing right until the end. The Man in the Water takes place in Washington D.C., where there
was a blast of winter. It was a chaotic disaster that caught the nation s attention. In reality, not
everyone is willing to be the good guy . Everyone have once, thought of themselves more than
others but, in this article, not everyone was selfish. Not being selfish, showed heroism and bravery.
In the article The Man in the Water , Roger Rosenblatt uses conflict and setting to develop moral
courage. In this article, the author uses conflict to show guts. There are many problems and
situations in this article. One of the problems in this article is a plane crashing. Last Wednesday, the
elements, indifferent as ever, brought down flight 90 (Rosenblatt, 273). Nature has brought down a
plane in its winter wonderland. Many people were injured and cannot aid themselves. Despite this
incident, the humans worked together to overcome this obstacle to help help others that needed it.
Instead of doing nothing, they risked their lives to make sure the people on the plane lived..
Another conflict is, the humans having a chance to go home. The men who helped out was given
numerous chances to leave the disaster site. They had a choice to stay... Show more content on

The conflicts in this article is man versus nature and man versus self. The setting also affected
heroism by being in winter and in an important city called, Washington. Moral courage is trying
to not be greedy but to help each other and not for personal gain. Just like the unidentified man
who did not want to reveal himself. He did it out of the heart and not to receive awards or fame.
The theme of Moral Courage related to the real world because if everyone helped each other then,

Analysis Of Jealous Extremaduran And Deceitful Marriage
The exemplary novels are timeless not only for the stories they tell, but also for the vivid ways in
which they depict society at the time when these stories were written. Through the analysis of
Cervantes s Jealous Extremaduran and Deceitful Marriage, one is able to see and dissect the many
jobs and roles played by people in society during the 16th and 17th centuries in Spain. In the story
entitled The Jealous Extremaduran, Cervantes exhibits the roles of a hidalgo turned indiano, poor
aristocrat, child of a merchant, and multiple slaves. In this story, a man named Felipe de
Carrizales is born into vast wealth and depicted as a Hidalgo, or a nobleman. He spends it all
upon finite entities and becomes stripped of all affluence. He then goes to the New World,
becomes rich and returns to his homeland of Spain as an indiano. He subsequently falls in love
with a young and beautiful girl, Leonora, and marries her. Leonora is a great representation of
the aristocracy in Spain, because she is born with a good family, but does not possess any sort of
wealth. Many people in Spain at this time had an aristocratic title, but only a select few held the
wealth due to the practice of mayorazgo. Those like Leonora in society at that time were known as
segundГіnes. While Carrizales is married to her, he has such a fear of her being unfaithful to him,
that he builds a house analogous to a prison to hold her. A popular, young, and handsome bachelor
named Loaysa becomes enamored

Web Based Department Automation System Essay
Abstract This paper gives details about web based department automation system which will be
implemented at educational institution level for maintaining faculty details and records. The
proposed application aims at providing efficient and hassle free working environment for faculty
of the organization as it reduces the amount of paperwork involved. This system is based on the
modern approach of data mining and web technology which overcomes the drawbacks of existing
manual method used by the organization reducing mistakes and errors in record keeping. The
system provides faster computation of queries to fetch data from a huge database. The
application is designed using Eclipse (kepler version), Apache Tomcat server 7.0 along with
wamp server to host the database locally. J2EE, JSP along with Html have been used for designing
the user interface whereas MySQL database is used for storing data.

I.INTRODUCTION Data mining has made a remarkable impact in the current world of technology.
The existing approach used in various educational institution and organization involves manual
record keeping and maintenance which is error prone. Also there is a possibility of misplacing the
documents which may contain relevant confidential data related to faculty as well as organization.
Clearly, there is a need of an automated system that reduces the use of paper work and is much
more efficient as

The Beatles And Their Music
An entire generation in Cold War Soviet Russia was born to a nuclear bomb, raised under the
constant threat of war, and seemed doomed to suffocate by their own government, until they were
emancipated by a life force that was as formidable as unlikely a savior. This paper discusses the
role of the Beatles and their music in the cultural, political and social revolutions that took place
Cold WarRussia. Drawing upon various conversations and anecdotes that Leslie Woodhead
discusses in his 2013 book How The Beatles Rocked the Kremlin , this paper attempts to also
understand how contemporary Russia has evolved to carry with herself the revolutionary spirit of
the Beatles.
As reiterated upon by various interviewees in different capacities, it is important that one must
preface any discussion of the Beatles in the Soviet Union with a historical context of the country in
the 1960s. It is indeed impossible to guess whether the Beatles would have had the impact they
made on another historical generation, but the Soviet population in the mid sixties certainly lived
in a time that was fertile ground for the arrival of the Beatles (Woodhead, 23). In those early years
of the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev and his efforts in spearheading Russia in the international
space race, along with his thawing of political, economic and cultural restrictions were a source of a
nationwide zeal and pride. Nevertheless, the rapid events leading to his ousting in 1965, and the
hastily implemented

The Relationship Between Hpv And Cervical Neoplasia
Evidently, in the 1990s the relationship between HPV and cervical neoplasia was confirmed.[7]
According to Bosch et al., the 1990s produced the key results of case control and cohort studies,
and witnessed an increasing number of results on the clinical uses of HPV DNA testing in
screening and triage, [24] and, as Liaw et al. (1995) noted in their case control studies, it was also
becoming apparent that those with multiple HPV infections have a higher risk of developing cancer
of the cervix. [26]
With the changing dimension of research studies having confirmed that HPV was a necessary
cause of cervical cancer, epidemiological studies advanced to associating different strains of HPV
to different anogenital pathologies, categorizing different histological forms of cervical cancer in
relation to HPV strains and highlighting other risk factors that may play a prominent role or
catalyze the carcinogesis process. For instance, Ngelangel et al. (1998) in their hospital based case
control studying the Philippines detected HPV DNA in 93.8% case subjects with squamous cell
carcinoma, 90.9% in case subjects with adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma as opposed to
just 9.2% of control subjects.[27] They observed the presence of fifteen different HPV types in
squamous cell carcinoma, and six different HPV types in adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous
carcinoma while noting that, apart from HPV 16 and HPV 18, HPV45 had the strongest
association with squamous cell carcinoma. [27] The same year

Write a critical analysis of the passage from A Handful of Dust starting is mummy coming back
today? (p55) and finishing I ve been carrying on anyhow this week (p 57), showing how far you
think it typical of Waugh s methods and effects in the novel.
The passage starts with John Andrew, the most innocent person in the novel speaking. He is
questioning the absence of his mother and waiting eagerly for her return from monkey woman s
party . His father reassures him that she is sure to be back that very day. John Andrew points out
that Brenda would not have seen Thunderclap for four days, this is sweet as he misses the point
that she has not seen her own son for four days either! It shows how attached little John Andrew is

Brenda asks her husband not to think about it either, which will have the reverse effect as it is
human nature to do what we asked not to do. John makes it all the worse for poor Tony by
asking What s a flat, daddy? At this time a flat would have meant all sorts of things. By Brenda
having a flat it gave her a lot of independence to do what she wanted. I would also be surprised if
the thought of her pursuing an affair hadn t entered Tony s mindat this point but he keeps this
thought well hidden. John s little question would be sure to play on Tony s mind so that he could
not keep his promise not to
give it another thought .
Brenda begins to manipulate Tony with her womanly charms, although he sees straight through it,
I suppose all this means you re going to start again about your flat? it doesn t put him in a better
position to say no to her. Brenda asks whether Tony has been brooding and he quite defensively
says no . Most of the conversation is like this,
Brenda does the talking while Tony makes short replies. By doing all the talking Brenda doesn t
give Tony a chance to say no and by the time she is done Tony is agreeing to the flat.
I found there were two main points which sprang to mind, regarding
Waughs methods and effects in this piece. Clearly this story of marital betrayal relates closely to
Waugh s personal experience and he seems to be remarkably generous towards Brenda. Her
behaviour is clearly compulsive; I ve found a

the employer looking to better the skill of themselves or for their staff. There is however the

Comparison Of Two Occupations, Social Work And Skills,...
Compare and Contrast Two Occupations
Final Interview Paper
Occupations require a myriad of skills, training, and requirements. The personality and talents of
individuals can guide them into their choosing a profession. For example, someone who is an
accountant may prefer little interaction with others and for information to be very precise in every
situation. Compare that to a therapist whom interacts with people daily and no two situations are
the same or precise. I am going to compare two professions, Social Workversus Information
Technology, to explore the similarities and differences in these two occupations.
Social Worker
Social Work is defined as, The professional activity of helping individuals, groups, or
communities enhance or restore their capacity for social functional and creating societal
conditions favorable to this goal. Social work practice consists of the professional application of
social work values, principles, and techniques (Coyle, 2014, p. 6). Social Workers can act as
mediators, negotiators, educators, and advocators just to name a few of the roles they play. They
follow a written Code of Ethics that guide their professional judgement and practice. Some job
titles used for Social Workers are Mental Health Counselor, Child Advocate, Adoption Specialist,
Human Rights Representative, Healthcare Social Worker, and School Social Worker.

Why Did Hoover Win The Election Of 1932
The presidential election of 1932 was the first election after the beginning of the Great Depression.
It pitted the incumbent Republican Herbert Hoover against the Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt.
Despite the terrible economic conditions that had developed under Hoover, the Republicans
believed that Hoover would be able to solve the depression with protectionism and other aggressive
economic policies. Franklin D. Rooseveltwas considered the frontrunner to win the nomination, but

Hair Fibers
The word hair usually refers to two distinct structures:
the part beneath the skin, called the hair follicle or when pulled from the skin, called the bulb.
This organ is located in the dermis and maintains stem cells, which not only re grow the hair after
it falls out, but also are recruited to regrow skin after a wound.[2] the shaft, which is the hard
filamentous part that extends above the skin surface. A cross section of the hairshaft may be divided
roughly into three zones.
Hair fibers have a structure consisting of several layers, starting from the outside:
the cuticle, which consists of several layers of flat, thin cells laid out overlapping one another as
roof shingles, the cortex, which contains the keratin bundles in cell structures that remain roughly

The cortex contains melanin, which colors the fiber based on the number, distribution and types
of melanin granules. The shape of the follicle determines the shape of the cortex, and the shape
of the fiber is related to how straight or curly the hair is. People with straight hair have round
hair fibers. Oval and irregularly shaped fibers are generally more wavy or even curly. The
cuticle is the outer covering. Its complex structure slides as the hair swells and is covered with a
single molecular layer of lipid that makes the hair repel water.[4] The diameter of human hair
varies from .017 to .18 millimeters (0.00067 to 0.00709 in).[6] There are two million small, tubular
glands and sweat glands that produce watery fluids that cool the body by evaporation. The glands at
the opening of the hair produce a fatty secretion that lubricates the

How Does Shakespeare Use Humor In Twelfth Night
Humans have been on this planet for an estimated 200,000 years and yet we are still a cruel and
immoral species that finds the pain and manipulation of others amusing. Though the Twelfth Night
written by William Shakespeare takes place 400 years ago the humor in it has not changed as
people still find humour in Sir Andrew s antics, laugh at Malvolio s imprisonment, and giggle at the
misfortune of Antonio. The reason for that is simple; it is in human nature to mock others.
One example of Sir Andrew s abuse comes from before his first line is spoken. Maria is
reprimanding Sir Toby for his drinking and bringing is a knave too woo lady Olivia Sir Toby
reasons with her saying Why, he has three thousand ducats a year. (the Twelfth Night
, William
Shakespeare 1.3.20) This shows that Sir Toby does not care to reason that he has a kind heart or a
fine personality but only wealth for drinking. Because of this fact Sir Toby reveals his
manipulation in the final act resulting in humour at Sir Andrews expense. Sir Toby is shown to be
one of the main contributors to Sir Andrew s manipulation like when Sir Andrew wishes to leave
on the grounds that Olivia is being ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Saint Athanasius of Alexandria and the Council of Nicaea
Saint Athanasius of Alexandria, also referred to as Athanasius the Great, led Alexandria as the
twentieth bishop for forty five years during the fourth century. Although Athanasius is regarded as
serving as bishop for almost fifty years, the saint spent over seventeen of those years in exile for
various reasons. A renowned Christian theologian, Athanasius was known for his defense of the
Trinity, and his deep rooted hatred for Ariusand his followers, the Arians. Around 356, after
Athanasius was almost arrested during a vigil service, he decided to flee to Upper Egypt. During
his time spent there, he completed his most notable work Four Orations Against the Arians. The
text brings up a variety of claims that the Arians make, and Athanasius s responses to their so called
heretical nature. Although Athanasius uses Scriptural evidence to argue against the Arians, his
writing style is cruel and belittling: an inappropriate way for a leader to address the people of the
Empire. After reading a great deal of Athanasius s own works, as well as texts concerning the role of
Athanasius throughout the fourth century, it has become evident that St. Athanasius of Alexandria
impacted the Trinitarian Controversy most significantly through his noteworthy orations, his role at
the Council of Nicaea, and most importantly, his commitment to the betterment of the Catholic
Church.
Athanasius is known as a Church Father, a renowned Christian theologian, and a defender of
Trinitarianism.

The Natural Cognitive Process Is Based On Our Own...
When others look at someone, multiple things are processed in the brain at one time. How that
individual looks, the color of their skin, and even favorable features they have. What we truly see
outside of the natural cognitive process is based on our own experiences with other individuals.
Our familiarity with situations as well as general perceptions of people can determine how we
view one another. In this day and age popular culture has undoubtedly affected our natural view of
the individual. When thinking about large groups of people, we categorize them by societal
preconceived notions. They are Black, they are White, these are the nice people, and those are the
mean people. This becomes a problem however, when society dictates... Show more content on

In an excerpt below from one of the earliest periodicals, The Slave s Friend a description is
provided. The above picture shows how an African appears in his native country. See that
elephant s tusk leaning against him. The Africans sell them for ivory, and they are made into a
great many useful articles in this country. The African appears free and independent, but he is a
heathen. He looks abroad upon nature, but knows little, or nothing, of nature s God. The
kidnappers very often seize the children while they are at play, when their parents are absent,
carry them to the boats in the rivers, and then to the slave ships that are at anchor, or lying to,
not a great way off. They then take them over the seas to South America, to the West Indies, and
even to the United States, never, never to return to their native land as freemen. There they sell
them as slaves, and there they have to work, and suffer, and weep. O, how my heart bleeds for
them. (The Slaves Friend) The image of an African gave way to a widespread stereotype of what
people from that continent looked like and how they lived. The image had savage and wilderness
filled overtones that took away any sort of civilized tendencies that the African may have had.

Assimilation And Its Effects On Adolescents And Family...
In the United States, the Latino community continues to grow at a steady pace and with this
increase in population comes a greater complexity in family relations and a unique set of problems.
Nowadays, Latino Families feature children who were born in the United States but have at least
one foreign born parent, and also foreign born children who immigrated to this country. Whether
they are first immigrants or second generation, Latino youth deals with different levels of
acculturation and the stress that this process brings. Realizing that acculturation plays an important
role in the Latino families, a number of studies have examined the negative effects that
acculturation stress brings to adolescents and familyrelationships, including behavioral problems,
perceived discrimination, ethnic identity, depression symptoms, and substance abuse. Let s start by
understanding the concept of acculturation and the stress associated with it. Acculturation is a
process by which individuals obtain the practices, values, and identity from the receiving culturein
this case the United Statesculture while at the same time conserving those associated with their own
heritage. Naturally, this bi dimensional process represents an added stress for Latino families as
they have to learn to function efficiently under a different physical environment, an unfamiliar
public system, a new language, and probably face a reduced social status, as well.
Under these circumstances, Latino adolescents

Stanley Hauerwas Christian Ethics Summary
The study of the ethical thinker, Stanley Hauerwas, was about Christian ethics. Christian ethics in
Hauerwas s eyes are more about forming narrative, and the reason why he sees it that way is
because of how ethics is following scripture of the Bible. Hauerwas explaining that the Christian
ethics are going to be more about people following into this study and relying on the Bible in order
to help them out of certain situations. Hauerwas explains that it is more about a narrative
community instead of being an ethical study, alongside with the Enlightenment Model which he
discusses he does not like as well. The Enlightenment model is explained as to being a rationality

As well, he explains that the true focus is to explain the Christian ethics is something that would
not be separated from the theology, and is defined in that alone as a story book. For results of
Wilkens looking over this study he found more of problems with Hauerwas s study. The results
showed that Hauerwas was positive about becoming a better person down the road. As for the
negative side of this study was that there was too much ambiguity about Christians, as well as the
lines between scripture and community is not clear, the community is never explained by
Hauerwas, and lastly, the Christian story is not a true story. The importance of this study of
Hauerwas is going to be because of the fact there are positive sides, and as well as negative sides
about different ethical studies. Wilkens explains this as being an important study because of this
being where our lives begin with studies like this. Ethic studies show us different ways of seeing
the world. Hauerwas s study on Christian ethics, has been something that is going to aimed at most
believers as well as he is going to show that Christians morality is more than following rules and
legalism. Hauerwas is more about the grounding ethics that are about the Scripture and the
traditions that come along with being a Christian. Other things that are going to be important for
this study is that of being able to show that there are positive things about the Christian ethics, and
the negative that most of the ethic does not explain for us. Hauerwas s is also going to show critics
about the Enlightenment model, and with that being of notion of rationality and focusing on just

Liberal Arts Classes Essay
Colleges should require students to take liberal arts classes but the students should be able to
choose which liberal arts class they would like to take. Whether a student takes a literature, art,
history, or even a philosophy class, they will benefit from it in many ways. Students learn a lot
from practical and technical training but they could learn so much more with liberal artsclasses.
Taking liberal arts classes can help a student develop grit, relate to real life situations, and help
overall development.
If a student had only practical and technical training, they wouldn t have as much grit as if they
took liberal arts classes. This is because a student taking liberal arts class needs more grit in order
to successfully finish. Just ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Donald E. Simanek s article On Being an Excellent Student, he says We even impose
interpretations on things we learn, and avoid learning some things because they don t seem
important at the time. Education can broaden that view, encouraging to set our egos aside and
objectively evaluate facts and interpretations. Liberal arts education is described as useless but it
can really help a person expand their knowledge. Things you learn in liberal arts classes could be
useful for the rest of your life. Simanek also said, Awareness of what s going on in the world
around you, and the habit of intelligently relating it to your academic courses. For example, when
taking a course in political science, you should relate what you are learning in class to what s
happening on the national and world political scene. Political science is considered a liberal arts
class, even though a student might not need this class for their major, they could really benefit
from taking it. A student can learn information from the political science class that could help them

Questions On Teaching And Classical Players
This article discusses 8 vital things to remember as improvisers whether advanced or just getting
started:
1. Your technique is probably miles ahead of your ability to think.
This isn t just true for classical players. I ve known lots and lots (and lots) of jazz players who
have let their technique run the show as opposed to their brains.
Happens all the time.
With players who are just beginning to improvise, this is vital to keep in mind. Slow down! Even at
furious tempi, you can long meter melodic phrases that dance and skip over the fast tempo thinking
them in real time. And you can have great precision and musicality in doing so.
FYI, most players who play so fast you are asking yourself how can they think that stuff in real
time probably aren t really thinking that stuff in real time. Most are performing a memorized, yet
impressive move. Sort of a human software, sub routine call. To me, not the real thing.
Personally, I d rather listen to simple ideas that are inspired than impressive, over thought, over
prepared ideas any day. Particularly when they are masquerading as
improvisation.
2. You will be playing unexpected notes (mistakes) in the best of situations.
Yes, I know, we re supposed to KNOW what we are doing. But to get good at anything, we have to
stretch, and stretching means taking risks, and taking risks means making mistakes.
Over time, you really will be able to hear a melody and execute it flawlessly. But by then, you ll be

Relationship Quality As An Outcome Of Co-Rumination
Relationship Quality (good). Increased friendship quality is typically cited as an outcome of co
rumination. Friendships are important factors in socioemotional development as they provide
positive functions like companionship, protection, guidance, and validation (Rose 2007; Dirhangi
et al 2015). These peer relationship become increasingly important for adolescents as they begin to
turn more towards friends for company, sources of comfort and emotional support (Ruitjen et al
2010). These aspects are vital to friendships and create a welcome environment for co rumination to
commence. Co rumination was shown to have a significant positive correlation with reports on
relationship quality among adolescent best friends (Rose 2002). This is increasingly

Hoover s Inadequate Performance By Herbert Hoover
According to Leuchtenberg s biography Herbert Hoover, the primary factor that caused Hoover
s inadequate performance was his inability to effectively lead as a president. Leuchtenberg states
in the biography that President Hoover was not the most effective galvanizer. Even with Hoover
s successful history with economics and coordinating of political activities, it was evidently not
enough for him to lead the nation with. In the biography, Leuchtenberg dives into the background
of Hoover to delve into what shaped Hoover as an individual. He was described as gruff loner who
generally knew what he was doing with his work. Hoover s frigid demeanor and Yankee brag

When the Depression hit, Bert firstly had difficulty accepting the magnitude the crash he did not

strictly giving relief strictly to those who needed it. He insisted that the nation was caring for the

The Superheroes Of The Comics
Once disregarded, comic books have been progressively paving a way to the future without sexism
and racism in a time when they are becoming increasingly impactful to young adults. In 1938
Superman debuted and began the future of comic books, creating the two most influential
publishers (Adkins). In 1940 Fantomah was introduced as the first female superherocharacter,
though she remained a less popular character in the industry. It wasn t until the early 1960 s that
Wonder Woman was created, and she became one of the most well known female heroes among
the genres. Since then, more and more women have been depicted as heroes, mostly female
versions of themselves. With racism and sexism still a common problem in society, Marvel was
the first to announce that they would replace a major male hero completely with a female that has
her own origin story, as well as sticking with comics and allowing Falcon, an African American
superhero, to take the place of Captain America. Though resulting in mixed reviews, this step
has been seen as a dive into the right direction for equality in the comic book industry. For
feminism in comic books, it seems they are being pushed in the right directions with two major
heroines taking the big screen in their own shows. The last female superhero to have her very
own television show was Wonder Woman in 1975, 27 years ago (Polo). With the releases of
Jessica Jones and Supergirl, it is the first time there have been two female super leads, not

The Caribbean According to Three Writings Essay
The Caribbean According to Three Writings
Introduction
The Caribbean is made up of many islands that were inhabited by many peoples speaking different
languages and believing in different things. With the beginning of colonization, many more peoples
speaking different languages and believing in different things claimed ownership over certain
islands (in many cases nowhere near each other geographically). Under new ownerships , the
islands became involved in slave trading. Each different colonizer of the islands chose to take
slaves from different areas of western Africa, depending on where their mother country s other
colonies were located in Africa. This resulted in the arrival and mixing of new groups of different

Lastly, Cliff, a native of Jamaica, used a much broader and more artistic means of explaining the
Caribbean through her multilayered fiction and her personal accounts of growing up in and out of
Jamaica. Her writing is full of imagery, history, and culture, all at the same time.
Heterogeniality
One thing that the three authors come to an accord on is the heterogeniality of the Caribbean.
Mintz states over and again that the societies of the Caribbean do not form an undifferentiated
group. According to Mintz, It is inaccurate to refer to the Caribbean as a cultural area , if by
culture is meant a common body of historical tradition . . . It would probably be more accurate to
refer to the Caribbean as a societal area , since its component societies probably share many more
social structure features than they do cultural features (Mintz, 1971, 19 20). Benitez Rojo agrees
that the cultural realm is not the right one to look for Caribbeanness in. He discusses the
pluralism in many contexts that he sees in the region. Cliff, in both her novel Abeng and in her
essay If I Could Write This in Fire, I Would Write This in Fire , stresses the idea that within
Jamaica alone it is difficult to define one common culture. In talking about the struggle for identity
in colorized Jamaica, Cliff jumps around between stories of her childhood and throughout the rest

Sidney Bechet s Major Accomplishments
Sidney Bechet was one of many fantastic up and coming jazz musicians in the Roaring Twenties.
He started on the clarinet, but eventually became one of the first performers to adopt the soprano
saxophone as a main instrument, as well as one of the first to improvise with the swing style of
jazz. In addition, he was one of the first artists to record using a multitrack which was a way of
recording where you would play back the track from one instrument while you recorded with
another instrument and continued this process until you had all of the instruments you wanted.
These strides helped Bechet stand out from other musicians as he progressed through his career.
Bechet grew up in a musical household and toured with popular bands from a young age. His
father and four brothers all played instruments, so his passion for music came as no shock.

Throughout most of the book, Potok makes Hasidic Judaism seem like a negative religion by
using the main characters fathers as spokespeople towards their religion. One of the main
character Danny Sauder s father is a very strict man who raises his son in silence and is apart of

Inner Ring Essay

Inner Rings and the Motives that Come Along C.S Lewis delivered a speech named The Inner
Ring at King s College, a University in London. As Lewis continues on in his speech, one may be
a little thrown off by what these inner rings are and what exactly they mean to people. Although
Lewis mentions both good and harmful inner rings, one could argue that most people find
themselves so caught up in these inner rings they do not even realize they are trying to be involved
in them for the wrong reasons. Some people strive to have a certain appearance that comes along
with being involved in these inner rings that they tend to forget what really is important to them. ...

Some of these inner rings are the reason we have competition, jealously and spite in the world. It
is not right for one to feel left out just because they do not have certain traits or don t have the
same views as another. Lewis even acknowledges this with his passage, Unless you take
measures to prevent it, this desire is going to be one of the chief motives of your life, from the
first day on which you enter your profession until the day when you are too old to care (Lewis
152). An example of today s inner ring would be fraternities at Colleges. People who aren t part
of a certain fraternity would feel left out when they see the Frat s doing activities only Frat
members are allowed to do. This might make one feel the need to fit in and do certain things they
do not enjoy just to be accepted in a fraternity. Although this particular example does not apply to
everybody, it still does not hide these inner rings because they can be found everywhere.

Another example of an inner ring existing is social class in itself. Rich hang out with the rich, poor
hang out with the poor. People obviously have different circumstances that make their social
class rich or poor, but the ring still exists. Lower class people feel left out when they see the
upper class driving nicer cars, eating expensive dinners, and living in expensive homes. While on
the other end, lower class workers are living pay check to

Drug Testing Should Be Legal For Schools
Drug abuse has become a major issue in our society today and has even become a global problem
that needs to be resolved. The illicit use of drugs often begins in adolescence, so it is not
surprising that the idea of random drug testing in schools has become a popular response to the
problem. Adolescence represents a window of opportunity for prevention, because deterring drug
use during this period is associated with a lifetime reduction in substance abuse (Goldberg, 2003).
At this time there are not any federal laws related to drug testing in schools, but two different
Supreme Court rulings have granted schools the authority to conduct drug testing in certain
circumstances. In 1995, the Court ruled that it was legal for schools to... Show more content on

This could lead to punishing innocent students and encouraging those using the drugs that are
detectable to move on to more dangerous drugs since the risk of being caught is less (Legislative
Guide, 2017). Drug testing is very expensive, and they feel it is not cost effective for the schools.
Instead, the schools could use that money to promote drug prevention programs. Another argument
is that a positive drug test can lead to suspension from athletic teams and extracurricular activities
and these activities have been shown to be protective of substance abuse. So, students who use
drugs will not play sports or participate in extracurricular activities, which is detrimental to them in
the long run (Legislative Guide, 2017). Student rights and invasion of privacy is also seen as a
concern (Lombardo, 2016). Despite the Supreme Court rulings that give schools the right to drug
test in certain situations, there are still concerns about its legality. Laws are inconsistent from state
to state, and schools risk legal liability and expensive litigation by engaging in this practice.
(Legislative Guide, 2017).
Both sides of the argument share common ground in the fact that everyone wants to deal with the
drug abuse problem facing our society. Both sides feel that it needs to start with our adolescent
children because this is the

Morton stared intensely into his wife s eyes. The emotion behind his gaze consisted of
exasperation, anger, and confusion. Never in his ten years of marriage had his wife

Most agreements permit airlines to fly from their home country to designated airports in the other
country: some also extend the freedom to provide continuing service to a third country, or to
another destination in the other country while carrying passengers from overseas. In the 1990s,
open skies agreements became more common. These agreements take many of these regulatory
powers from state governments and open up international routes to further competition. Open skies
agreements have met some criticism, particularly within the European Union, whose airlines would

The Lord Of The Ring
Tom Bombadil placed the magic ring on his finger; everyone waited for him to disappear, but
nothing happened, and he handed the ring back to Frodo without a slight hesitation. Frodo
offered Galadriel the ring and she grew into a horrible creature towering over Frodo, but fought
the ring s strong temptation, and finally decreasing back to her normal self and declined the
powerful ring. Both Tom and Galadriel, in The Lord of the Ring, portray Tolkien s respect for
nature and strong spirituality, because they are powerful creatures, yet able to live a balanced life.
Tom Bombadilwas the master of the forest he lived in, and Frodo s magic ring had no effect on
him. Lady Galadriel was an Elf ruler and was able to withstand the temptation of the magic ring.
The magic ring symbolizes the corruption and power, leading to an unsustainable world. For
example, society has an unsustainable demand for oil. Oil pipelines, such as the Keystone, have
lessened the beauty of nature where they have been built. Companies believe they have the right to
construct pipelines across the US at the expense of the environment. Humans must remember to
value the beauty of nature.
Tom Bombadil lived in the Old Forest, taking care of the nature, and singing ridiculously silly

Basic Concepts And Components Of Electric Vehicles
Introduction: The purpose for this research paper is to introduce and familiarize students with the
basic concepts and components of electric vehicles. In doing so, we will be able to give a better
and more detailed explanation of the luxurious Tesla Model S electric vehicle s components such as
the battery, its methods of charging and the types of motors that are implemented in the Model S,
and how the Model S sets itself apart from the rest of the competition, whether it be electric
vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles, or vehicles that implement an internal combustion engineor even
the most fastest of racecars ever made such as the Mclaren F1.
History of electric vehicles: Electric vehicles are praised for their ability to travel a considerable
amount of distance using only electricity without having to constantly stop at gas station to
refuel and in turn decreasing their carbon footprint;however, because they are running on all
electricity and are not using an internal combustion engine, they are able to achieve fast take off
speeds (acceleration) but are unable to acquire fast top speeds because of their lack of gears. In
addition to being unable to achieve high top speeds, it takes the electric vehicles a considerable
amount of time to fully recharge their battery packs and get them back on the road. The Tesla
Model S however is able to go above and beyond the standard electric vehicles in the sense that it
can achieve fast acceleration, a very high top speed,

Techniques Used In The Film Full Metal Jacket
You climb like old people fuck Private Pyle , Well any fucking time sweetheart! These two quotes
from the movie Full Metal Jacket are common techniques that most directors of war genre films
use to either grasp the attention of the audience or emphasize the scrounginess of war. War in many
cases takes the perception of life out of many soldiers. When soldiers return home, they are
desensitized to killing. Wargenre films use fast cutting scenes, captivating descriptions of scenery ,
and aggressive degrading language to promote the negative connotations of war.
Like many war films, fury doesn t stray far from the norm. The director uses aggressive and vulgar
language, combined with fast cutting and high paced shooting scenes, to convey many messages to
us the viewer. In one specific scene where the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the novel, The Yellow Birds, Kevin Powers is a master at Keeping our attention on a specific
event. He uses long strung sentences to give us a perfect picture of what is going on at one
specific moment. In one of the opening chapters the narrator expands on one idea about the
topography and landscape, The war tried to kill us in the spring. As grass greened the plains of
Nineveh and the weather warmed, we patrolled the low slung hills beyond the cities and towns.
We moved over them and through the tall grass on faith, kneading paths into the windswept
growth like pioneers. While we slept, the war rubbed its thousand ribs against the ground in
prayer. This passage paints a clear picture in our minds about what the war zone looked like. Like
many war genre novels, The Yellow Birds doesn t fall far from the tree. The same techniques are
used throughout every single war genre movie or novel out

Captain James T. Kirk Character Analysis
Captain James T. Kirk is one of the most famous Captains in the history of Starfleet. There s a
good reason for that. He saved the planet Earth several times, stopped the Doomsday Machine,
helped negotiate peace with the Klingon Empire, kept the balance of power between the Federation
and the Romulan Empire, and even managed to fight Nazis. On his five year mission commanding
the U.S.S. Enterprise, as well as subsequent commands, James T. Kirk was a quintessential leader,
who led his crew into the unknown and continued to succeed time and time again.

MOST POPULAR Photos: The NHL s Best Fans
I love chess as much as the next geek, but chess is often taken too seriously as a metaphor for
leadership strategy. For all of its intricacies, chess is a game of defined rules that can be
mathematically determined. It s ultimately a game of boxes and limitations. A far better analogy
to strategy is poker, not chess. Life is a game of probabilities, not defined rules. And often
understanding your opponents is a much greater advantage than the cards you have in your hand. It
was knowledge of his opponent that allowed Kirk to defeat Khan in Star Trek II by exploiting Khan
s two dimensional thinking. Bluffs, tells, and bets are all a big part of real life strategy. Playing
that strategy with an eye to the psychology of our competitors, not just the rules and circumstances
of the game can often lead to better outcomes than following the rigid lines of

Sam s Compliance Case Study
There are daily instances of patient noncompliance in the medical field. One of the most common
occurrences of challenges can be found in diabetes management. It is a diligent nurse who is
educated on the latest research regarding certain persuasive strategies to help assist patients in
their struggle to make a health change. The rational empirical, normative reeducated and the
power coercive approaches are just three tools a nurse can use to formulate a patient centered
plan which can help guide a patient into taking action. The case of Sam s compliance is a perfect
example where these strategies can be utilized. Each approach has its own unique application
which the nurse can use to extrapolate a plan to increase Sam s acceptance in following a
prescribed blood glucose monitoringand insulinadministration. By using these strategies in her
approach to Sam, it places the willingness to make a decision in Sam s court without forcing the
issue or causing undue pressure to change, which is honoring and respecting his wishes.

168) Incorporating the normative reeducation strategy, the nurse will draw upon others to add
strength to the plan for changing Sam s compliance. Assessing Sam s role in his care and
correlating his wife s attitude towards his lack of compliance is one area of discussion. If Sam
has a clear understanding of his role in his care and how this affects his personal social circle,
this may help Sam to see how his noncompliance truly affects those around him. Another possible
way in which the normative reeducation approach works is to allow someone close to Sam who
has a similar diabetic management plan speak from experience and this can influence a change in
attitude for Sam. In this approach, others can create a change in Sam s decision to follow his

Application Room For Breast Imaging
When I entered the medical field over twenty years ago, at the front desk of the radiology
department were file cabinets which contained notecards listing the imaging studies performed
on each patient. If a patient had previous imaging, we would go to the film file room to retrieve
the folder from the rolling storage units. In these heavy folders, along with the films, is also
where we would find the typed reports associated with those old exams. After the radiologist
compared new studies with the old and dictated a report onto a small cassette tape, the
transcriptionist would type the report from the recording and a copy of the report stapled to the
paper order for the exam performed was added to the folder. Copies of the reports were filed in
medical records and sent to the ordering provider. At the end of each day, all film folders were
returned to the file room for storage. In my current practice, imaging orders are entered in the
patient s electronic chart in the Epic computer system. When a patient arrives for breast imaging,
the relevant medical historyis reviewed and updated in the Magview system. Previous images are
retrieved from PACS and the current digital study is compared on high resolution computer
monitors. With a few mouse clicks in Magview, the radiologist generates a report from the patient
history and current findings. Signing off with another click, the report is then immediately added to
the patient s chart and the ordering provider is notified of

What Should Be The Legal Driving Age? In today s world, especially in the United States,
teenagers can start driving a motor vehicle as early as sixteen years old. Although, recent
discussions have brought up the topic that should teenagers be able to drive at sixteen, or should
teenagers have to wait till the legal drivingage at eighteen to drive. On the other hand, according to
many sources and statistics, teenagers should wait until they are eighteen because the can focus on
schooling, make better decisions, and are more responsible. In the state of Illinois for example,
students can get their permit starting at the age fifteen. Although, the time and effort of getting

Comprehensive Sex Education And Comprehensive Sex Education
Around the country views on sex education differ strongly, typically more religiously affiliated
states promote abstinence while liberal states are in favor of comprehensive sex education.
While both abstinence only sex education and comprehensive sex education aim to shield teens
from the possible dangers of sex, they strongly disagree on what information should be taught
and the outcome said information will have on teens.
Many parents have a strong opinion on how much information their children should be taught,
ranging from nothing at all to everything from human anatomy, STD s, gender studies, and sex
education for queer teens. According to an article titled Comprehensive Sex Education is
Inappropriate and Harmful some parents believe that their authority is being undermined by

Adventurous Moment Essay
Two Vacation Spots Adventure! Everyone probably has an adventurous moment they will
remember. When I explain my adventurous moment to friends, I never forget the scenarios that
happen between 2010 and 2012. Fortunately, I visited two different cities in two different States
during this time doing the same activity, carrying out the same fun experience from an
internship, but had different results and likes. Initially, in the summer of 2010 I visit Folly
Beach, and then summer 2011 was Pensacola Beach, and finally was Folly Beach again during
summer 2012. Not only do both beaches clinch personal memories in my head, but both areas
have something in common to pull your interest, as well as they differ such that you can be able
to choose where to spend a short vacation. Fortunately, it was a sales internship, a program with
Varsity Company International during which we ll sell educational books during the summer to
make some money, and at the end of the summer the sales manager will choose one place where
all participants will go to celebrate success. Confidently, I became part of the program in 2010
and the memory wasn t impressive. Unfortunately, 2010 memory wasn t the best due to the fact
that Ruth Angelina was the closest friend I met during the program; I didn t generate enough
income to celebrate success and I was left in the cold at Folly Beach by Ruth. Courageously, I
went back in 2011 and the memory wasn t the best either. Following the 12 week program, I was

Value Chain of H M Essay
H amp;M s value chain:
The value chain, made by Michael Porter, is really important to see how a company structure is
created. The value chain is constituted by two parts: support activities (firm infrastructure, human
resource management, technology development, procurement) and primary activities (inbound
logistic, operations, outbound logistic, marketing and sales, service). (Johnson et al. 2011, p.97 99)
Support activities: * Firm infrastructure: H amp;M is present in 44 markets in the world, holds
more than 2,500 stores and employs over 94,000 people. Its head office is located in Stockholm,
Sweden where there also are the main departments for finance, buying and design, advertising,

Nevertheless, H amp;M could keep progressing in its online store. Indeed, even if H amp;M is
present in 44 countries, only 8 have access to the online store (Sweden, Germany, UK, Norway,
Denmark, Austria, USA and Netherlands). Increasing it, H amp;M could increase its sales a lot.
* Procurement: As it is the second Europe s cloth retailer company, for the production H amp;M
uses a lot of material and workers so its mains recourses are material, labour and energy. That is
why small changes in prices can affect the company s profit a lot, and the fact that it does not
own any manufactories causes some problems in controlling the production s prices. However,
not owning the factories can be an advantage in some cases. Indeed, if a problem appears, H
amp;M can easily change its suppliers. Moreover, due to its huge size, H amp;M can easily
manipulate with its suppliers to have the best quality at the lowest production s price.
Primary activities: * Inbound logistic: One of the core values of H amp;M is the sustainability,
and, thus, sustainability in production. The aim of H amp;M is to offer good quality fashion at
the best price and to achieve it, H amp;M tries to avoid the waste. In this purpose, all the waste
coming from the manufacturing, the transport and other sources are planned to be reused, recycled
and reduced.(H amp;M, 2012) * Operations: H amp;M makes only one operation which is the

Elementary Schools Teach Handwriting
Handwriting everyone uses it, however, some don t use it very well. Should Elementary schools
teach handwriting? Yes, because many people use it today, but some peoples writing is
unreadable. There are three main reasons why Elementary schools should teach handwriting. One,
you use it in everyday life, secondly you fill out job applications and other legal matters, thirdly
people need to be able to read your writing.
Elementary schools should teach handwriting because you use it in everyday life. You have to
write papers, take notes, and if some have jobs, write out checks. Most people though have
unreadable handwriting, so maybe learning at a young age will help. The kids and teachers may
disagree by finding it to hard or they are too young,

Paul Robeson
Paul Robeson was a famous African American athlete, singer, actor and advocate for the civil
rights of people around the world. He rose to prominence in a time when segregation was legal in
America and black people were being lynched by white mobs, especially in the South.
Born on April 9, 1898 in Princeton, New Jersey, Paul Robeson was the youngest of five children.
His father was a runaway slave who went on to graduate from Lincoln University, and his mother
came from a family of Quakers who worked for the abolition of slavery. His family was familiar
with hardship and the determination to rise above it. His own life was no less challenging.
In 1915, Paul won a four year academic scholarship to Rutgers University. In spite of ... Show more

It was greeted with the largest audience response since Orson Welles famous War of the Worlds.
During the 1940s, Robeson continued to perform and speak out against racism in the U.S. and for
peace among nations. As a passionate believer in international cooperation, Robeson protested
the growing cold war hostilities and worked tirelessly for friendship and respect between the
U.S. and the USSR. In 1945, he headed an organization that challenged President Truman to
support an anti lynching law. In the late 1940s, when dissent was scarcely tolerated in the U.S.,
Robeson openly questioned why African Americans should fight in the army of a government
that tolerated violent racism. Because of his outspokenness, he was accused by the Un
American Activities Committee (HUAC) of being a Communist. Robeson saw this claim as an
outright attack on the democratic rights of the many people like himself who work for
friendship with other nations, and equal rights for all people. This accusation nearly ended his
career. Eighty of his concerts were canceled, and in 1949 two outdoor concerts in Peekskill, N.Y.
were attacked by white mobs while state police stood by complacently. In response, Robeson
declared, I going to sing wherever the people want me to sing... and I won t be frightened by
crosses burning in Peekskill or anywhere else.
In 1950, the U.S. government revoked Robeson s passport, leading to an

Francis Ford Coppola, The Visionary Director Of The...
Francis Ford Coppola is the visionary director of the Godfather. He is credited with transforming
the entire cinema industry. Joss Whedon is the not so visionary director of Avengers Age of
Ultron. Whedon recently compared himself to Coppola when he said: I tried to make age of
Ultron in a similar style to Godfather. The mix of action and drama has a perfect balance I want to
strike in my film. Well I can tell you now Joss that you failed. Cutting every 2 seconds so the
audience doesn t notice the CGI in no way compares to Coppola s subtlety and tension. If Joss
Whedon is the new Francis Ford Coppola, then the movie industry must be in major trouble right?
Wrong, in fact it is booming. And bad directors like Joss Whedon are not just making terrible
films. They are polluting our cinemas with rip offs, remakes and reboots. Hollywood no longer
seems to care about making good movies. They are money driven, bloated and stale. We need to
demand more of the movie industry to stop it churning out these unoriginal films.
Disney is the biggest film studio in the world in terms of market share. Disney s latest 5 films
are Star Wars VII, The Jungle Book, Finding Dory, Tarzan and Beauty and the Beast. That is 3
remakes and two sequels. But why is this? Drive directed by Nicolas Refn, is an incredibly highly
rated film that received 92% on rotten tomatoes and 100% on rolling stone made 30 million dollars
profit. Drive was praised for its unique atmosphere, original directing style

Hillary Clinton Women s Rights Movement
Hillary Clinton s Campaign Hillary Clinton gave her all in running against Donald Trump. Having
such a strong female figure in the limelight was a great sense of motivation for other women and
supportive others to get out and activate for themselves and their peers. She advocated on behalf of
women, and made it known that it is possible for women to do great things. In fact, it is common
for women to do great things. U.S. women joined together, took on the strength and courage that
they found in Clinton, and used Clinton s success as icing on the cake for their own activism. 2017

Ever since the first mass suffrage protest in 1911, women have been compiling their resources and
their passion to stand up for what is just. The movement that we see today, and the colossal
marches that have taken place post Trump election, are the results of a country structure that has
been limiting women and their health ever since the U.S. came to be. Women back in the 1900 s,
especially the brave women of color, who stood up and made a difference, were the preliminary
force behind advocacy for women s rights up until today. Women and supporters have built upon
those early protests, along with the addition of advanced technology, threatening policy proposals,
the continued belittling of women, and strong female leaders. These factors have created the
perfect storm to stimulate today s resilient movement. The Election of Donald Trump was the
tipping point, and as a result, we are seeing mass protests to try to prevent further chaos and
preserve rights that women have finally started to

  • 3. Canicula Snapshots Of A Girlhood El La Faza Analysis In Norma Cantu s Canicula: Snapshots of a girlhood el la Frontera, she addresses the topic of identity which is examined through the photographs of her past. In her story, it s about how she grew up between two different countries of the U.S and Mexico. The narrator is searching for who she is within the two countries, which makes it hard for her to find herself as one culture can criticize the other. In one of the stories, Mexican Citizen the narrator is now faced to identify her identity as she now gets her U.S immigration papers. In these papers we see that the color of her skin listed is Blanco , on the other hand, her Mexico documents state that she s Moreno . This shows two different identities that based just on her color of her skin. The narrator is able to cross the border occasionally without her parents that she then realizes the conflict of between the two cultures when she decides to live with Mamagrande in Monterrey. She interacts with her cousins, but they don t seem to get along with her very well since she doesn t know their way of things I sing to them silly nursery rhymes and tell them these are great songs: Humpty Dumpty, Jack and Jill, Little Miss Muffet, Old McDonald. They listen fascinated, awed, but then they laugh when I don t know their games (Cantu 23). We see that even though she can speak Spanish, the narrator still has trouble living in Mexico and she then faces problems trying to find her identity when she experiences the conflicts ... • 4. The Man In The Water By Roger Rosenblatt How hard is it to do the right thing? In the article, The Man in the Water , many people did the right thing right until the end. The Man in the Water takes place in Washington D.C., where there was a blast of winter. It was a chaotic disaster that caught the nation s attention. In reality, not everyone is willing to be the good guy . Everyone have once, thought of themselves more than others but, in this article, not everyone was selfish. Not being selfish, showed heroism and bravery. In the article The Man in the Water , Roger Rosenblatt uses conflict and setting to develop moral courage. In this article, the author uses conflict to show guts. There are many problems and situations in this article. One of the problems in this article is a plane crashing. Last Wednesday, the elements, indifferent as ever, brought down flight 90 (Rosenblatt, 273). Nature has brought down a plane in its winter wonderland. Many people were injured and cannot aid themselves. Despite this incident, the humans worked together to overcome this obstacle to help help others that needed it. Instead of doing nothing, they risked their lives to make sure the people on the plane lived.. Another conflict is, the humans having a chance to go home. The men who helped out was given numerous chances to leave the disaster site. They had a choice to stay... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Analysis Of Jealous Extremaduran And Deceitful Marriage The exemplary novels are timeless not only for the stories they tell, but also for the vivid ways in which they depict society at the time when these stories were written. Through the analysis of Cervantes s Jealous Extremaduran and Deceitful Marriage, one is able to see and dissect the many jobs and roles played by people in society during the 16th and 17th centuries in Spain. In the story entitled The Jealous Extremaduran, Cervantes exhibits the roles of a hidalgo turned indiano, poor aristocrat, child of a merchant, and multiple slaves. In this story, a man named Felipe de Carrizales is born into vast wealth and depicted as a Hidalgo, or a nobleman. He spends it all upon finite entities and becomes stripped of all affluence. He then goes to the New World, becomes rich and returns to his homeland of Spain as an indiano. He subsequently falls in love with a young and beautiful girl, Leonora, and marries her. Leonora is a great representation of the aristocracy in Spain, because she is born with a good family, but does not possess any sort of wealth. Many people in Spain at this time had an aristocratic title, but only a select few held the wealth due to the practice of mayorazgo. Those like Leonora in society at that time were known as segundГіnes. While Carrizales is married to her, he has such a fear of her being unfaithful to him, that he builds a house analogous to a prison to hold her. A popular, young, and handsome bachelor named Loaysa becomes enamored ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Beatles And Their Music An entire generation in Cold War Soviet Russia was born to a nuclear bomb, raised under the constant threat of war, and seemed doomed to suffocate by their own government, until they were emancipated by a life force that was as formidable as unlikely a savior. This paper discusses the role of the Beatles and their music in the cultural, political and social revolutions that took place Cold WarRussia. Drawing upon various conversations and anecdotes that Leslie Woodhead discusses in his 2013 book How The Beatles Rocked the Kremlin , this paper attempts to also understand how contemporary Russia has evolved to carry with herself the revolutionary spirit of the Beatles. As reiterated upon by various interviewees in different capacities, it is important that one must preface any discussion of the Beatles in the Soviet Union with a historical context of the country in the 1960s. It is indeed impossible to guess whether the Beatles would have had the impact they made on another historical generation, but the Soviet population in the mid sixties certainly lived in a time that was fertile ground for the arrival of the Beatles (Woodhead, 23). In those early years of the Cold War, Nikita Khrushchev and his efforts in spearheading Russia in the international space race, along with his thawing of political, economic and cultural restrictions were a source of a nationwide zeal and pride. Nevertheless, the rapid events leading to his ousting in 1965, and the hastily implemented ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Relationship Between Hpv And Cervical Neoplasia Evidently, in the 1990s the relationship between HPV and cervical neoplasia was confirmed.[7] According to Bosch et al., the 1990s produced the key results of case control and cohort studies, and witnessed an increasing number of results on the clinical uses of HPV DNA testing in screening and triage, [24] and, as Liaw et al. (1995) noted in their case control studies, it was also becoming apparent that those with multiple HPV infections have a higher risk of developing cancer of the cervix. [26] With the changing dimension of research studies having confirmed that HPV was a necessary cause of cervical cancer, epidemiological studies advanced to associating different strains of HPV to different anogenital pathologies, categorizing different histological forms of cervical cancer in relation to HPV strains and highlighting other risk factors that may play a prominent role or catalyze the carcinogesis process. For instance, Ngelangel et al. (1998) in their hospital based case control studying the Philippines detected HPV DNA in 93.8% case subjects with squamous cell carcinoma, 90.9% in case subjects with adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma as opposed to just 9.2% of control subjects.[27] They observed the presence of fifteen different HPV types in squamous cell carcinoma, and six different HPV types in adenocarcinoma/adenosquamous carcinoma while noting that, apart from HPV 16 and HPV 18, HPV45 had the strongest association with squamous cell carcinoma. (p55) and finishing I ve been carrying on anyhow this week (p 57), showing how far you think it typical of Waugh s methods and effects in the novel. The passage starts with John Andrew, the most innocent person in the novel speaking. He is questioning the absence of his mother and waiting eagerly for her return from monkey woman s party . His father reassures him that she is sure to be back that very day. Brenda asks her husband not to think about it either, which will have the reverse effect as it is human nature to do what we asked not to do. John makes it all the worse for poor Tony by asking What s a flat, daddy? At this time a flat would have meant all sorts of things. By Brenda having a flat it gave her a lot of independence to do what she wanted. I would also be surprised if the thought of her pursuing an affair hadn t entered Tony s mindat this point but he keeps this thought well hidden. John s little question would be sure to play on Tony s mind so that he could not keep his promise not to give it another thought . Brenda begins to manipulate Tony with her womanly charms, although he sees straight through it, I suppose all this means you re going to start again about your flat? it doesn t put him in a better position to say no to her. Brenda asks whether Tony has been brooding and he quite defensively says no . Most of the conversation is like this, Brenda does the talking while Tony makes short replies. By doing all the talking Brenda doesn t give Tony a chance to say no and by the time she is done Tony is agreeing to the flat. I found there were two main points which sprang to mind, regarding Waughs methods and effects in this piece. Clearly this story of marital betrayal relates closely to Waugh s personal experience and he seems to be remarkably generous towards Brenda. Her behaviour is clearly compulsive; I ve found a ... • 12. Comparison Of Two Occupations, Social Work And Skills,... Compare and Contrast Two Occupations Final Interview Paper Occupations require a myriad of skills, training, and requirements. The personality and talents of individuals can guide them into their choosing a profession. For example, someone who is an accountant may prefer little interaction with others and for information to be very precise in every situation. Compare that to a therapist whom interacts with people daily and no two situations are the same or precise. I am going to compare two professions, Social Workversus Information Technology, to explore the similarities and differences in these two occupations. Social Worker Social Work is defined as, The professional activity of helping individuals, groups, or communities enhance or restore their capacity for social functional and creating societal conditions favorable to this goal. Social work practice consists of the professional application of social work values, principles, and techniques (Coyle, 2014, p. 6). Social Workers can act as mediators, negotiators, educators, and advocators just to name a few of the roles they play. They follow a written Code of Ethics that guide their professional judgement and practice. This organ is located in the dermis and maintains stem cells, which not only re grow the hair after it falls out, but also are recruited to regrow skin after a wound.[2] the shaft, which is the hard filamentous part that extends above the skin surface. A cross section of the hairshaft may be divided roughly into three zones. Hair fibers have a structure consisting of several layers, starting from the outside: the cuticle, which consists of several layers of flat, thin cells laid out overlapping one another as roof shingles, the cortex, which contains the keratin bundles in cell structures that remain roughly rod like. the medulla, a disorganized and open area at the ... • 15. How Does Shakespeare Use Humor In Twelfth Night Humans have been on this planet for an estimated 200,000 years and yet we are still a cruel and immoral species that finds the pain and manipulation of others amusing. Though the Twelfth Night written by William Shakespeare takes place 400 years ago the humor in it has not changed as people still find humour in Sir Andrew s antics, laugh at Malvolio s imprisonment, and giggle at the misfortune of Antonio. The reason for that is simple; it is in human nature to mock others. One example of Sir Andrew s abuse comes from before his first line is spoken. Maria is reprimanding Sir Toby for his drinking and bringing is a knave too woo lady Olivia Sir Toby reasons with her saying Why, he has three thousand ducats a year. (the Twelfth Night , William Shakespeare 1.3.20) This shows that Sir Toby does not care to reason that he has a kind heart or a fine personality but only wealth for drinking. Because of this fact Sir Toby reveals his manipulation in the final act resulting in humour at Sir Andrews expense. • 17. Saint Athanasius of Alexandria and the Council of Nicaea Saint Athanasius of Alexandria, also referred to as Athanasius the Great, led Alexandria as the twentieth bishop for forty five years during the fourth century. Although Athanasius is regarded as serving as bishop for almost fifty years, the saint spent over seventeen of those years in exile for various reasons. A renowned Christian theologian, Athanasius was known for his defense of the Trinity, and his deep rooted hatred for Ariusand his followers, the Arians. Around 356, after Athanasius was almost arrested during a vigil service, he decided to flee to Upper Egypt. During his time spent there, he completed his most notable work Four Orations Against the Arians. The text brings up a variety of claims that the Arians make, and Athanasius s responses to their so called heretical nature. Although Athanasius uses Scriptural evidence to argue against the Arians, his writing style is cruel and belittling: an inappropriate way for a leader to address the people of the Empire. After reading a great deal of Athanasius s own works, as well as texts concerning the role of Athanasius throughout the fourth century, it has become evident that St. Athanasius of Alexandria impacted the Trinitarian Controversy most significantly through his noteworthy orations, his role at the Council of Nicaea, and most importantly, his commitment to the betterment of the Catholic Church. Athanasius is known as a Church Father, a renowned Christian theologian, and a defender of Trinitarianism. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The African appears free and independent, but he is a heathen. He looks abroad upon nature, but knows little, or nothing, of nature s God. The kidnappers very often seize the children while they are at play, when their parents are absent, carry them to the boats in the rivers, and then to the slave ships that are at anchor, or lying to, not a great way off. In the United States, the Latino community continues to grow at a steady pace and with this increase in population comes a greater complexity in family relations and a unique set of problems. Nowadays, Latino Families feature children who were born in the United States but have at least one foreign born parent, and also foreign born children who immigrated to this country. Whether they are first immigrants or second generation, Latino youth deals with different levels of acculturation and the stress that this process brings. Realizing that acculturation plays an important role in the Latino families, a number of studies have examined the negative effects that acculturation stress brings to adolescents and familyrelationships, including behavioral problems, perceived discrimination, ethnic identity, depression symptoms, and substance abuse. Let s start by understanding the concept of acculturation and the stress associated with it. Acculturation is a process by which individuals obtain the practices, values, and identity from the receiving culturein this case the United Statesculture while at the same time conserving those associated with their own heritage. • 24. Questions On Teaching And Classical Players This article discusses 8 vital things to remember as improvisers whether advanced or just getting started: 1. Your technique is probably miles ahead of your ability to think. This isn t just true for classical players. I ve known lots and lots (and lots) of jazz players who have let their technique run the show as opposed to their brains. Happens all the time. With players who are just beginning to improvise, this is vital to keep in mind. Slow down! Even at furious tempi, you can long meter melodic phrases that dance and skip over the fast tempo thinking them in real time. And you can have great precision and musicality in doing so. FYI, most players who play so fast you are asking yourself how can they think that stuff in real time probably aren t really thinking that stuff in real time. Most are performing a memorized, yet impressive move. Sort of a human software, sub routine call. To me, not the real thing. Personally, I d rather listen to simple ideas that are inspired than impressive, over thought, over prepared ideas any day. Particularly when they are masquerading as improvisation. 2. You will be playing unexpected notes (mistakes) in the best of situations. Yes, I know, we re supposed to KNOW what we are doing. But to get good at anything, we have to stretch, and stretching means taking risks, and taking risks means making mistakes. Over time, you really will be able to hear a melody and execute it flawlessly. But by then, you ll be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Superheroes Of The Comics Once disregarded, comic books have been progressively paving a way to the future without sexism and racism in a time when they are becoming increasingly impactful to young adults. In 1938 Superman debuted and began the future of comic books, creating the two most influential publishers (Adkins). In 1940 Fantomah was introduced as the first female superherocharacter, though she remained a less popular character in the industry. It wasn t until the early 1960 s that Wonder Woman was created, and she became one of the most well known female heroes among the genres. Since then, more and more women have been depicted as heroes, mostly female versions of themselves. With racism and sexism still a common problem in society, Marvel was the first to announce that they would replace a major male hero completely with a female that has her own origin story, as well as sticking with comics and allowing Falcon, an African American superhero, to take the place of Captain America. Though resulting in mixed reviews, this step has been seen as a dive into the right direction for equality in the comic book industry. For feminism in comic books, it seems they are being pushed in the right directions with two major heroines taking the big screen in their own shows. Mintz states over and again that the societies of the Caribbean do not form an undifferentiated group. According to Mintz, It is inaccurate to refer to the Caribbean as a cultural area , if by culture is meant a common body of historical tradition . . . It would probably be more accurate to refer to the Caribbean as a societal area , since its component societies probably share many more social structure features than they do cultural features (Mintz, 1971, 19 20). As Lewis continues on in his speech, one may be a little thrown off by what these inner rings are and what exactly they mean to people. Although Lewis mentions both good and harmful inner rings, one could argue that most people find themselves so caught up in these inner rings they do not even realize they are trying to be involved in them for the wrong reasons. Some people strive to have a certain appearance that comes along with being involved in these inner rings that they tend to forget what really is important to them. ... It is not right for one to feel left out just because they do not have certain traits or don t have the same views as another. Lewis even acknowledges this with his passage, Unless you take measures to prevent it, this desire is going to be one of the chief motives of your life, from the first day on which you enter your profession until the day when you are too old to care (Lewis 152). An example of today s inner ring would be fraternities at Colleges. People who aren t part of a certain fraternity would feel left out when they see the Frat s doing activities only Frat members are allowed to do. This might make one feel the need to fit in and do certain things they do not enjoy just to be accepted in a fraternity. The illicit use of drugs often begins in adolescence, so it is not surprising that the idea of random drug testing in schools has become a popular response to the problem. Adolescence represents a window of opportunity for prevention, because deterring drug use during this period is associated with a lifetime reduction in substance abuse (Goldberg, 2003). Another argument is that a positive drug test can lead to suspension from athletic teams and extracurricular activities and these activities have been shown to be protective of substance abuse. So, students who use drugs will not play sports or participate in extracurricular activities, which is detrimental to them in the long run (Legislative Guide, 2017). Student rights and invasion of privacy is also seen as a concern (Lombardo, 2016). Despite the Supreme Court rulings that give schools the right to drug test in certain situations, there are still concerns about its legality. Laws are inconsistent from state to state, and schools risk legal liability and expensive litigation by engaging in this practice. (Legislative Guide, 2017). The Lord Of The Ring Tom Bombadil placed the magic ring on his finger; everyone waited for him to disappear, but nothing happened, and he handed the ring back to Frodo without a slight hesitation. Frodo offered Galadriel the ring and she grew into a horrible creature towering over Frodo, but fought the ring s strong temptation, and finally decreasing back to her normal self and declined the powerful ring. Both Tom and Galadriel, in The Lord of the Ring, portray Tolkien s respect for nature and strong spirituality, because they are powerful creatures, yet able to live a balanced life. The magic ring symbolizes the corruption and power, leading to an unsustainable world. For example, society has an unsustainable demand for oil. Oil pipelines, such as the Keystone, have lessened the beauty of nature where they have been built. Companies believe they have the right to construct pipelines across the US at the expense of the environment. Humans must remember to value the beauty of nature. History of electric vehicles: Electric vehicles are praised for their ability to travel a considerable amount of distance using only electricity without having to constantly stop at gas station to refuel and in turn decreasing their carbon footprint;however, because they are running on all electricity and are not using an internal combustion engine, they are able to achieve fast take off speeds (acceleration) but are unable to acquire fast top speeds because of their lack of gears. In addition to being unable to achieve high top speeds, it takes the electric vehicles a considerable amount of time to fully recharge their battery packs and get them back on the road. The Tesla Model S however is able to go above and beyond the standard electric vehicles in the sense that it can achieve fast acceleration, a very high top speed, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In these heavy folders, along with the films, is also where we would find the typed reports associated with those old exams. After the radiologist compared new studies with the old and dictated a report onto a small cassette tape, the transcriptionist would type the report from the recording and a copy of the report stapled to the paper order for the exam performed was added to the folder. Copies of the reports were filed in medical records and sent to the ordering provider. At the end of each day, all film folders were returned to the file room for storage.
