Emigrant And Immigrants In The Kingdom Of The Netherlands
Over the years, the Netherlands has seen a massive influx of immigrants, both refugees and
economic, from all areas of the world. As a result, the current demographic of the Netherlands is
characterized by 20% of the Dutch population [being] immigrants or children of immigrant parents
(Ersanilli, 2007); thus, for that reason the importance of this topic/problem is further elevated.
Coming from Curacao, a small island which forms part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as well
as whose economy depends on tourism and permanent migration, it is interesting to apply theories
and empirical data to something that I have accepted as the norm. For some, living in a nation state
where migration is extremely prevalent might not seem the norm, but for me it is; thus, it is
compelling to see how this previous knowledge can be applied on a global scale. In order to
thoroughly cover the different aspects of migration, the following points will be addressed: key
definitions which aid in understanding of the topic; types of migration; the push and pull factors of
migration; and the impacts on the source and destination countries. For the better understanding of
this topic it is important to understand the distinction between immigrant and emigrant, as well as
internal and external migration. Immigrant refers to someone who comes to a foreign country to
live permanently, whereas a emigrant refers to an individual who leaves their home country to then
permanently reside in a foreign country. Similarly, internal migration refers to people within a
country moving to another location within its borders (e.g. from one city to another), whereas
external migration refers to the act of migration across borders (e.g. from one country to another).
Now that some key terms have been addressed, the types of migrants will be illustrated. People
migrate to different countries for various different reasons. This results in the categorization of
different migrants in relation to their reason for migrating, whether it be for social or economic
reasons. The types of migrants include the following: temporary labor migrants, highly skilled
migrants, irregular migrants, forced migrants, family reunification migrants, and return migrants.

Panzihua Murder Story
Auff What did you find? Panzihua. What? Do you remember the sign on the green barrel, the
name of the nearby city. Well, most of the production is going there, and I guess why. There is a
lot of attention around those barrels. This is for the green barrels. But what about the yellow
ones? What about the Xeron? They burn it. Burn? Why so? Don t know, but what is inside the
yellow barrels, always guarded by armed men, is burnt in a kind of... big oven. Mosi and Siro
didn t understand. Why protect something that you have decided to burn? More: what was the
real business about the trucks going to Panzihua. China was a big mystery indeed. Two days later,
Liao Lin got sick and was hospitalized, while Mary was quickly progressing in her research of a

Analysis Of The First Hobbit Hole Upon Entrance During The...
Please Note all Costs are in $NZD
Strategy Outline
The strategy I have chosen to investigate in order to grow Hobbitons Profit is adding a
proffesional photo at the first hobbit hole upon entrance during the Hobbiton tour. This location
is very suitable as it gives the staff time to develop your photo by the end of the tour and it is also
apart of the movie so it will be recognisable and interesting to others, which is great marketing.
This photo will be taken using all professional equipment and a staff member who has been trained
in a one day photography course will be taking the photo.
The photo can be taken as indivual, group, couple or however you please. At the end of your
hobbiton tour so when you reach the pub, you will be given your photo when you receive your
complimentary drink. The photo will be given to you in a glossy quirky frame that is special and
unique to Hobbiton. Below is a small example of a tourism competitor Skyline Gondola, they offer
this strategy as an additonal cost but it is compulsory for the photo to be taken.

Business Case
As I explained above the strategy I have chosen is a adding a proffesional photo into Hobbitons
tour packages, this will be an increase in the ticket price. It will be announced as an increase but for
a great reason as you are reciving a photo in a quirky Hobbiton style frame. It is a clever way to

Cell Phines Chould Not Be Allowed in School
ARRGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER SUBMITED TO: MRS PITA RHAM SUBMITED
BY: DERVIN GARCIA ABSTRACT Cell phones are wireless phones that most people use now.
First they used the home phone which is still used in different countries in the world. In 1834 a
man named Michael Faraday, was studying if space could conduct electricity and he came with
the idea to develop the cell phone. Cell phones are now used everywhere by anyone, even kids.
This brings a problem, CELL PHONES in school. Cell phones should not be allowed in school.
Cell phone has a harmful effect on teenagers. Student at high school should not be allowed with cell
phones due to certain circumstances. There are many disadvantages derived from the uses of cell
phones... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the student has an emergency, don t you think that they should discuss the problem with the
school counselor? Plus if they need to call this can easily be achieved by phoning their parents
directly from school. Cell phones are distraction in class when learning is taken place. Many
schools in higher crime areas began banning cell phones long time, due to the business of illegal
drugs and other gang related activities. Students can be able to order and use illegal drugs
during school hours and could have them delivered right to the school before the end of the day.
This made it more convenient for the children because they are at school and away from the
prying eyes of their parent. In the case of bomb threats at school, the threat itself was probably
called into the school on a cell phone because of these devices; they cannot be traced by law
enforcement officials. In other words to trace a bomb in a cell phone is difficult and to evacuate
an entire school it s kind of hard. While most of these threats turn out to be hoaxes, a real bomb
could possibly be detonated by cell phone usage. Also if the teenagers take phones to school, not
every student will remember to put his/her phone on vibration, this can leads to classes interruption
by the occasionally ring

Mozart Symphony No. 40

Symphony No. 40 The piece that I decide to do was Mozart Symphony No. 40 because it seemed
like it would have the most instruments, different dynamics and a different sound to it. There were
a lot of instruments you could hear when you first listened to this piece. The first instruments that I
heard right away were the violins, flutes, and oboes. As I kept listening I noticed the clarinets,
bassoons, cello, viola, and the French horn. The instruments that seemed like they were the most
important in this piece were the violins, because they started the piece and through out the rest of
the piece they were always there being the main part of this piece. The melody in the first
movement opens with the violins and they are then accompany by the violas and the cello. As you
keep listening you notice that French horn, clarinets, flutes, and oboes contribute to the harmony.
The first movement is also in the key signature of G minor. As you move through the first
movement you enter into the second section which is in a different key. The key signature of the
second movement is in B flat major. The instruments that have the melody this time are the violins
along with the clarinets and bassoons. The mood through out the piece to me seemed to have a
lightness and grace to it. During the piece I also realized that you pick up on a dark undertone. The
dark undertone is in the harmony of the

Health Literacy Paper
An understanding of literacy, and health literacy is crucial to understand their impact on client
health outcomes. Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding
of these terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy
is a set of skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to
acquire knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Literacycan be understood through
various theoretical lenses. Keefe Copeland also highlight five principles we must keep in mind
when thinking about literacy (2011). Firstly, all people are capable of acquiring literacy, however
methods of acquiring literacy vary greatly. Literacy is also a human right, given its ability to shape
human experience Literacy also serves as a crucial empowerment tool. Social interaction also
contributes to literacy; it is developed through human ability to build relationships. Lastly, literacy
is not the responsibility of an individual alone. Community, and human interaction nurture literacy
as well.
All clients possess a degree of health literacy, and like literacy, it is a human right. It is a client s
ability to understand written, spoken or numerical information, and make health care related
decisions based on the information (Eadie, 2014). A client s health literacy also has a social
component, often being influenced by their socioeconomic status, immigration status and language

The Element of Great City
The film, Before Sunset, is about a couple who spent a passionate day together and separated get
back again in Paris. Paris has so much history and tradition all over the city. These remarkable
landmarks and classical architecture are pervading over the city and it represents a history of
France. Another unique about the Paris is that unlike any other cities, Paris makes the best use of
what they have and maintain its characteristics while they modernize rebuilding the city. It looks
like their attempt succeed and tourist from all over the world constantly show their love in Paris.
However, it could be a different story for people who live in Paris. Of the planning and urban
environment related issues in the film, the inconvenience of development and access, the
complicated transportation system, and underdevelopment of residential districts. These planning
issues cause a structural conflict on city planning and also a discomfort of daily life for people live
in Paris.
People s daily life sacrifices the convenience to maintain the city s history. In Whose Culture?
Whose City? sociologist Sharon Zukin suggested that Gentrification, historic preservation, and
other cultural strategies to enhance the visual appeal of urban spaces developed as major trends .

The Involvement Of Child Protective Services
In this research proposal the independent variable is the involvement of Child Protective
Services. Child Protective Service s involvement is measured based on a questionnaire, which
ask the participant have they ever had any previous Child Protective Service involvement, and if
so when? The research will include both participants who have answered yes and no to this
question. Furthermore, if the participant has answered yes, they will only be included if the Child
Protective Service involvement was in the last five years. The dependent variable in the research
is the risk factors of child maltreatment, as measured by the Adult Adolescent Parenting Inventory.
The three risk factors that will be examined as part of this research are parental empathy towards
children s needs, the use of corporal punishment, and expectations of children. The source of the
data was originally collected through an intake process. The information regarding our independent
variable is collected in interview form. The intake worker asked the participant several questions
including their previous CPS involvement. Information regarding out dependent variable was
originally collected in a self administered survey. The form is then input into a computer program
and results are created. The independent variable is not manipulated in any way. Procedure The
secondary data that we will be analyzing is collected by the Greater Richmond SCAN s Family

The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad Essay
The Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad
Marlow, an ordinary sailor with idealistic dreams, goes on a dark yet fascinating journey as a
newly hired riverboat captain, traveling up the Congo River, seeking out the legendary chief of the
Belgium trading company. When describing typical sites and events situated in the Congo, Joseph
Conrad wrote The Heart of Darkness in a first person s view, with Marlow as the highlight
character. As he writes on about Marlow s experiences, he portrays typical issues set in the time
period of the late 1800 s, such as slavery, trading and imperialism. He emphasizes these events
using pensive, pessimistic phrases throughout Marlow s train of thoughts. As Marlow travels up the

Marlow meets a diverse number of people and is very skeptical around them, judging them
quickly upon their speech. The readers see Marlow as a very independent and strong minded
individual, seeing through his eyes during an interesting yet dark period of our time. Another
main character was Kurtz, the chief of the company, who had made to be Marlow s main
purpose of his travels. For three quarters of the book, he has remained to be known as the man
with many talents, and a striving chief who has accomplished riches. Marlow had to journey to
the far station where he is located, just to have a meeting with this man, since he had joined the
company. Stories were told of him and his obsession of his trading for ivory. Some foreign
employees of the company looked up to him, admiring his accomplishments, while the locals who
were forced on working in the company despised him for causing such suffering among them.
Only for the last 20 pages, he has finally made an appearance, shortly before his unfortunate death.
Joseph Conrad placed this plot upon a colonized area in Congo. He described this place mainly as

A major advantage of vegetarianism is the improvement of personal health for the long run. Meat
eaters showed a 300 percent risk of colon cancer in a Harvard investigation whereas a study done
by England and Germany displayed a 40% less cancer risk for those committed to a vegetarian
diet ( Vegetarian Foods ). Vegetarianism helps reduces the risk of cancer. Moreover, research
shows that meat consumption often allows overabundance of protein in the body which leads to
kidney stones, osteoporosis, and . . . heart disease ( Vegetarian Foods ). A vegetable diet with
grains, beans, and other protein sources help maintain a balance of protein. Additionally, a rising
obesity rate concerns an overwhelming amount of people who desire to lose weight (in a healthy
way). Many can turn to a vegetarian lifestyle which keeps their weight and health in check. A
research study showed how plant based diet helped people with type 2 diabetes to lose weight . . .
and improve their metabolism ( Vegetarian Diet ). Basically, a vegetarian diet even promotes
healthy weight loss. The impact of vegetarianism further extends to a global and environmental
level. One of the major global issues includes the effect human overpopulation on poverty levels.
Too many mouths exist, waiting to be fed though not enough food is readily available. Studies
indicate that animals consume approximately 40% of the global grains harvest which could feed

Leading Through Change
Leading Through and Beyond Change | L7451 A01
There are many reasons that change can or must occur within and organization. The key will be in
understanding the organization and the prospective change. According to Mangundjaya (2015)
there are many variables that can influence the success of organizational change, such as the content
of the change, the process of the change, individual characteristics, leadership, external environment
and organizational context (p. 67). Organizational change has the potential to successfully align an
organization with its goals or completely derail any future success and progress. It is important that
the organization takes the proper steps to prepare for, implement, and evaluate change.
I believe that a key to leading through, and accepting, change can be effective communication.
Although everyone may not be able to accept change, they should make that decision with proper
information on hand. Fullan (2015) stated that Consistent communication during implementation is
essential to getting the collective clarity and energy necessary for success. Communication sticks

Africa s Health Care Crisis Essay
The residents of Africa are suffering from preventable, treatable, and fatal diseases everyday at a
higher rate compared to developed countries. The healthcare crisis in Africa is the primary cause of
all these deaths, and includes inefficient healthcare systems. Consequently, African s inefficient
healthcare systems results in poor delivery of care and a shortage of health professionals. The
healthcare crisis in Africais a current issue impacting the lives of many African s who don t have

The health of many women in Algeria which is part of Sub Saharan Africa in 1990 were impacted
by the poor health care system because they lived in poverty. Poverty caused these women to lack
essential needs to live a quality life. They lacked or could not afford resources such as supplies,
health care professionals, and facilities for healthcare, clean water, and waste disposal. This
ultimately affected the health of women and their children. For instance, lack of clean water and
waste disposal facilities can cause health abnormalities such as cholera or typhoid fever which
can cause devastating deaths. This is a healthcare problem because of the lack of funding. The
lack of funding prevents antibiotics from being used to prevent death, and prevents African s from
being vaccinated against typhoid fever. Another example of how poverty affects woman s health
is unintended pregnancy, which is because they are more likely to engage in risky sexual
behavior. It s part of the health crisis because it includes a poor health system, and a lack of
education about proper nutrition and behaviors during pregnancy. Complications in these
pregnancies due to poor nutrition and not visiting the doctor regularly includes increased infant
mortality. Infant mortality in the slums of Nairobe is 91.3% while it is 75.9% in urban areas

Fairies In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Alas, love can be a great source of confusion and sorrow, but it is nevertheless probably the most
powerful feeling a human being can experience. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream,
Lysander says that the course of true love never did run smooth (Shakespeare 1.1.134), which is
seen in the quarrels between the couples throughout the play. Shakespeare makes use chiefly of the
fairies supernatural powers to settle the love conflicts and portrays the irrationality in love of the
characters, thereby creating numerous comic situations and leading to the unification of the
couples towards the end of the play. First, one of Shakespeare s techniques to bring about the
comedic climax is the use of fairies whose supernatural powers create... Show more content on

Consequently, Demetrius falls in love with Helena, as it should have been in the first place, so
two [men] at once woo one [woman], as Puck says in line 3.2.118. Helena is completely mixed
up when Demetrius states that he is now in love with her because then both of Hermia s suitors
are now wooing her. The conflicts in love that Shakespeare presents here are a way for him to
start solving the love issues by bringing the couples together using the fairies magic powers.
Indeed, by making Demetrius fall in love with the lady who loves him, he pleases Helena, who
should normally be happy to have won her quest. However, since Lysander is also in love with
her, she is not fooled, and knows that there is something unusual going on. She suspects that the
gentlemen are teasing her scornfully by flout[ing] at [her] insufficiency (2.2.128). More
confusion arises when Hermia arrives, and Helena says in line 3.2.192 that she is one of this
confederacy of people who make fun of her. Then, Hermia comes to think that it is actually
Helena who is playing a trick on her: I scorn you not. It seems that you scorn me (3.2.221). This
mixup and inability to understand other people s intentions are Shakespeare s ways of
demonstrating how hard it is to understand the behaviour of love struck people. All the quarrels are
solved when Puck squeezes juice for a second time

Communication Occurs Everyday With People At Work Or Home
Communication occurs everyday with people at work or home. Communication is important for
people to pass information and entertainment. This paper will discuss different aspects of
communication. These aspects include the explanation of the two communication types and how
nonverbal communication can help the communicationwith others. Another item that will be
discussed will involve results based on a survey taken that is on communication.
People have communication using two different types. These types include verbal and nonverbal
communication. Verbal communication is defined as how a person uses words and language,
where Nonverbal communication is defined as the message components that is used instead of
words to generate meaning (Engleberg, 2013, Chapter 6: Verbal and Nonverbal Communication in
Groups ). Verbal communication can occur in several different ways, like talking to someone in
person, on the telephone, or using email for example. Using these techniques allows people to use
words to share information. Examples of nonverbal communication would include body language
or tone of voice. These allow people within the group to read hidden messages about another
person without their knowledge. The speaker of the group will be sending multiple messages using
both verbal (words) and nonverbal (body language).
Improving a person s nonverbal communication can take several steps and include several
nonverbal areas. Nonverbal communication has several different areas

HOW TO GIVE A GOOD HAIRCUT! One of the hardest things about giving a good haircut is
being able to understand what the client ultimately wants to achieve. If you don t have a clear
understanding, you could be digging yourself a hole by giving a bad haircut, but the wrong haircut.
The first and most important step to giving a good haircut and maintain this customer for life is a
thorough evaluation and consultation. This consists of a proper greeting when you seat your

You can either use your regular cutting shears, using the point to point cut to take out bulk, not
length, or you can use a razor. It is pretty much personal choice and up to the client. I personally
like the razor. In today s society there isn t much want or need for a perfectly clean hair cut, and the
razor achieves kind of a messy, not so clean look. When you are all finished, you want to hand
your client the mirror and turn them to all angles so they can see the finished cut and approve.
Never try to hide a mistake, everyone knows that when you get a haircut the first thing you do is
go home and look closely, so don t even attempt it, it just causes embarrassment later. After
approval, apply gel to the hair and explain the process and why you are applying. This is a sure
way to get them to purchase the product also, and make your commission oh so sweet! Upon
wanting you to style their hair, blow dry and style to their liking. Be sure to demonstrate and tell
them what you are doing so they can go home and achieve the same look. There is nothing more
frustrating when leaving a salon looking great and then never being able to get the look again

Banning Cell Phone Use While Driving
When we are on the road wreck less driving can be caused by a number of situations, which
ultimately is all related to the driver being irresponsible. Many of us have witnessed drivers so
distracted by their cell phones that they often resemble drunk drivers and we ve all seen the
commercials of the distracted drivers who look down to read that one message and now suffer
permanent brain damage or have ended someone elses life.. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon
University used MRI brain scans to demonstrate that simply listening to a cell phone conversation
while driving results in a drastic decrease in brain activity focused on driving (Gershowitz 582).
A common misconception is the thought that hands free calling is safer than texting. This is very
much untrue, the actual act of having a conversation causes the driver to be distracted. Texting
while driving is more dangerous because texting requires cognitive functioning and requires the
driver to take his eyes off the road. Distracted drivers often weave between lanes or forget to
signal while driving; putting other drivers at risk while on the road. Recently, we have seen an
increase in the concern over cell phone use while driving and an increase in legislation to prohibit
this dangerous act. It is very important that cell phone use not only be regulated but strictly
enforced because negligent drivers are a serious danger to

Science And Its Effect On Society Essay
Science is the process which discovers knowledge, knowledge in turn is power, and power is said
to bring about corruption. Therefore, through the transitive property, that implies that science will
only lead to corruption. Not necessarily a corruption of one s actions; for instance, science won t
make a politician accept a bribe. However, some would argue that sciencewill lead to a degradation
of morals. For example, contemporary science may lead to a woman viewing her unborn baby as
naught but a ball of cells, similar to a tumor, which can be removed from her body with no moral
dilemma. The converse to this is the impediment of science due to humanity clinging to its archaic
values. This can be shown by the opposition to stem cell research and genetically modified
embryos in the name of morals and the inviolability of life. The stark contrast between following
morals and advancing science creates a juxtaposition that often manifests itself as a debate between
religionand science. Certain members of both the scientific and religious communities blindly
adhere to their own opinions and ideals. This butting of heads helps no one. As a result, a middle
road must be found, one in which neither progress nor moralityare ignored. The polarity between
these two forces is encapsulated by the differences that Bertolt Brecht draws in his play Galileo
between Galileo and the clergymen. This play, when contrasted with the reality of Galileo s
studies, provides a vehicle to discuss the

Personality As An Understanding Of Personality
As an understanding of personality, it is said that the essential paradigms of a personality are
defined by individual s characteristics and behaviour. However over a period of time an individual
s personality can change due to genetics and the altering nature of the environment they are placed
within. Personality is in reference to individuals variances in their patterns of feeling, thinking and
behaving (Encyclopedia of Psychology: 8 Volume Set, 2000). This essay will be focusing on the
basic dimensions of a personality and also the factors influencing personality change. This then will
be contrasted against a study that develops that personality does not change over time.
Personality not only changes over time and experience but also manipulates as the individual goes
through varying facades within their life. Several personality psychologists believe that personality
is defined by five dimensions as suggested by McCrae and Costa (The Big Five dimensions of
personality?, V.Egan, 1988). This was found by testing the conduct group by allowing them to
choose a solution to a question that the teste believed was most suitable and thus showed that the
test groups had presented 5 dominant characteristics, extroversion, agreeableness,
conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness (The Big Five dimensions of personality?, V.Egan,
1988). Extroversion is looking into the individual s excitability, sociability and the high amounts of
emotional expression (Very Well, 2016).

The Court Administrator and the Prudent Police Chief
Case Study: The Court Administrator and the Prudent Police Chief
Abstract
All people given a traffic citation are to appear in court on a specific date after their traffic
citations. Those people who plead not guilty are set for trial at a future date, and the prosecutor
and arresting officer are required to appear at trial. 75 percent of people who plead not guilty fail
to appear at trial, but the city is still responsible for paying overtime expenses to those officers
who are not on duty but must appear at trial. The court administrator is called upon to devise a
system to limit the city s overtime expenses. The court administrator devises a system where the
court has access to police officer schedules, and where all officers are normally scheduled at least
one day a month during court trial hours, and sets trials involving those officers during that time
period.
Question 1: What kind of a system would you propose to address the problem, and how would you
go about accomplishing this end? In creating a modified system, you are to work within the
existing law, with no changes in statutes or ordinances. The problem with the system, as it is
established, is not due to any underlying problems in ordinances and statutes, thus the solution
would not require changing either of those factors. The ordinances and statutes not only offer
required due process protections for those accused of traffic violations, but are also not inherently
unwieldy. The real problem with the

Analysis Of Dante s Inferno ( Hell )
Lisa Gambrell
Armond Boudreaux
ENGL 2111
22 November 2015
Dante s Journey Dante s Inferno (Hell) is the first book from The Divine Comedy. The literary
work is an allegory telling about Dante s journey through Hell. The inscription on the gates of Hell
read, ABANDON EVERY HOPE, ALL YOU WHO ENTER (line 9). The chief punishment of all
the inhabitants of the Inferno is no hope. They have no have no hope of salvation, no hope of
release, no hope of any improvement, or escape from their punishments. Each inhabitant is
punished in a fashion befitting their crime. For centuries, the meaning of justice is a controversial
question. The punishments in Dante s Hell are justified in proportion to their sin. The Ante Inferno
is like a hall before entering a church of government building. The Ante Inferno is essentially a
vestibule into Hell. The people here are the ones who are rejected by God and not accepted by
the powers of Hell . The souls are nowhere because of their cowardly refusal to make a choice in
life . Their punishment is to follow a banner at a furious pace forever, and to be tormented by
flies and hornets (Canto III Intro pg. 1607). These people chose themselves. They chase a blank
banner which is nothing. They chose their fate to choose nothing. The punishment is justified
because they are nothing so they chase nothing. Circle one is reserved for the Virtuous Pagans. It is
like a state of limbo. It is like a toss up. It has no progress. If you were born before

research to support my ideas. In regards to how to gather a speech the book says the research
you need in order to develop and support your presentation can and should come from a variety
of sources. Depending on the topic, you must use internal sources, external sources, or a

Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death
Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death is a remarkable masterpiece that exercises
thought between the known and the unknown. In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop
Death, there is much impression in the tone, in symbols and in the use of imagery that over flow
with creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie, haunting, if not frightening, tone and use
of symbolism in Dickinson s poem.
Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid.
For example, We slowly drove He knew no Haste / ...We passed the School ... / We passed the

The first site We passed was the School, where children strove (9). Because it deals with an
important symbol, the Ring this first scene is perhaps the most important. On this invited journey,
one vividly sees Children playing. Laughing and singing. This scene conveys emotions and moods
through verbal pictures.
The imagery in the final scene, We passed the Setting Sun (12) is very emotional. One can
clearly picture a warm setting sun, perhaps, over a grassy horizon. The idea of a setting sun,
aftermath a fact of slumber in a cold dark night. When Dickinson passed the Setting Sun, night
drew nigh and it was time to go home and sleep. Symbolically, her tour of life was over; it was
now time for Eternity death. While sight seeing in the carriage, one can gather, by the setting of
the sun, that this ride was glimpse of life flashing before her eyes; just as said to happen before you
die. Lines 14 and 15 seem to support this idea. The dews drew quivering and chill / For only
Gossamer, my Gown (14 15). This indicates a pleasant time cut short. Before she knew it, the cold
Dew[s] (14) had set in.
The imagery in this transcendent poem shines great light on some hidden similarities between life
and death. This poem exercises both the thoughts and emotions of readers. Eternity and Death are
two important characters in Dickinson s Because I could

The Dangers Of Music Censorship In Music
Music Censorship
In today s society music has turned into one of the most influential factors of socialization in
children and youth. Young audiences are constantly exposed to popular music through various radio
stations, internet websites, and technology. Since popular music has been making a notable impact
on young generations, the government has put into place the censorship of music. Censorship is the
alteration of ideas or lyrics in music that are deemed unsuitable for public hearing. Music that
sends messages against moral norms of society are subject to get censored when getting aired on
radio stations or sold in stores. Everyday people are exposed to the censorship of music
especially when listening to music on the radio. Censorship takes effect every time a word or
phase gets bleeped out or removed from a song. A national debate between artists and government
has become a real issue of whether music should be censored or not. On one hand, artists have the
rights to freely express themselves through music. In opposition, the government can censor music
that has any philosophical objections in its meaning. Artist may feel a challenge in boundaries
when it comes to writing and publishing music since they have to abide by many laws, or accept
that their music will be modified. As a teenager that listens to a variety of different music, I can
see why censorship has to take place, however I do sympathize with artist that may feel artistically

Plastic Pollution And Its Effects On Our Society
Our world has become infatuated with the idea of fast, easy, and comfortable consumption. We ve
grown accustomed to accommodating a fast pace lifestyle but we have forgotten about the
repercussions of our actions. So many products have become single use or disposable, from our
individually wrapped food to our hygiene products. Since the discovery of plasticit has become the
go to material of choice due to its cheap price of production. Unfortunately because of its high
production rate and the fact that it s essentially non biodegradable it has started to consume our
planet from landfills, to rivers, and our oceans. When talking about plastic pollution people usually
think about plastic bags and bottles but another huge product of plastic waste is a toothbrush.
Currently there s about 323,060,000 people in the United states; if you take a very rough estimate
that there s at least 5 million people/ babies who don t have teeth, subtract that from the population,
and then estimate that the average person goes through 3 tooth brushes a year, you end up with
955,800,000 toothbrushes being thrown away per year. That s 1 billion toothbrushes from America
alone, disregarding the fact that your dentist recommends you change your toothbrush at least 4
times a year. Plastic is generally what the average toothbrush is made of. Little plastic beads are
poured into a mold and then heated up till they reach a doughy consistency, rubber detailing is then

Coral Bleaching And Its Impact On Coral Reef Ecosystems
Abstract
This paper reviews what we currently know about coral bleaching and its impact on coral reef
ecosystems. It analyses the scientific evidence linking coral bleaching to climate change and other
anthropogenic activities. It also focuses on the importance of ecosystem services provided by coral
reefs, and the socio economic and environmental impacts of coral bleaching. The paper concludes
with a set of recommendations and mitigation strategies to slow down the rate of coral bleaching,
thus allowing coral reefs to adapt and develop resilience in the face of climate change.

(Andrew, Glynn, Riegl, 2008) This loss of zooxanthellae or the reduction in their pigment
concentration from the host is referred to as coral bleaching. Bleaching turns the host coral white,
as the skeleton becomes visible through the coral s transparent tissue. Bleached corals can survive
without their counterparts for weeks or months. However, as this symbiosis is vital for reef
building, the absence of it significantly reduces coral growth and reproductive ability, eventually
leading to reef mortality. (Knowlton, 2001)
Causes of Coral Bleaching
Coral reefs have suffered degradation due to anthropogenic activities for decades. The direct and
indirect effects of overfishing and pollution from agriculture and land development have been the
major drivers of coral reef decline over the past two centuries. More importantly, these threats to
coral reefs have been compounded and exacerbated by superimposed impacts of global climate
change, such as rising sea temperature and level, and increased ocean acidification. (T. P. Hughes,
2003)
Coral reefs are found in coastal tropical environments, typically between latitudes 25oS and 25oN,
and can tolerate water temperatures ranging from 18oC to 30oC. (Hoegh Guldberg O. , 1999)
Most literature reviewed highlights elevated SST, particularly during repeated ENSO events, as the
most common cause of mass coral bleaching episodes. These stressed, overheated corals expel most

Objective Journalism vs. Partisan Journalism
Ben Thompson Rachel Miller DIS 611, W 9 a.m. Objective Journalism vs. Partisan Journalism
Objective journalism in the United States should be reconsidered to accommodate the demands of
varied audiences and increased media outlets. With the media growing in magnitude and influence,
many people are looking for fresh, like minded news sources. Declines in newspaper readership
and television news viewing among many Americans suggests that objectively reported news is a
failing philosophy. Younger, more impressionable people may be ready for the advantages of the
partisan news reporting style. For many years, American journalism has been remarkably different
from other parts of the world, particularly Europe. The European style... Show more content on

However, no other style emerged to replace objective journalism in America (Campbell 276).
Alternatives to objective journalism do exist in today s media field. Cunningham references two
reporters in Louisville who helped resolve several court cases. Jason Riley and R.G. Dunlop
investigated their local court system, and uncovered several cases that had not been settled. They
reported the overall dysfunction in the county courts, and won a Polk award for the series of
articles. This example of the partisan style of journalism was simply to research extensively and
call the issues into question (Cunningham par. 29). It was not passive like everyday objective
journalism; it was completely aggressive. If journalists are really doing their jobs, they should be
doing more proactive reporting. They should not be resigned to report the obvious one side versus
another, but instead should ask the tough questions, confront problems, and suggest solutions.
Cunningham cites a few specific examples of how objectivity has hampered journalism today.
Only 12 out of 574 major network evening news reports confronted the issue of the Iraqi War
aftermath. This obviously illustrates the hesitation the media has in questioning and speculating
major political decisions. Generally, the press does not feel any obligation to call out politicians
and elected officials about their decisions. Instead, some facts are reported, and no one is

The Global Problem Of Gender Imbalance
163 million women are missing in Asia, but no one is looking for them. These missing women
were victims of sex selective abortions, pushed onto the Asian population by a patriarchal society in
a way to control population growth. Mara Hvistendahl s Missing: 163 Million Women focuses on
the causes, consequences, and global implications of the genderimbalance in congruence with
sharing of local practices. Kwame Anthony Appiah offers cosmopolitan concepts of taking interest
in practices that lend significance to human life and shared practices in his book Cosmopolitanism.
The global problem of gender imbalance challenges Appiah s notion of coexistence in agreeing or
sharing practices without relinquishing our values by forcing the reader to... Show more content on

The cause of Asia s, or specifically China s, gender imbalance is fundamentally rooted in its cultural
beliefs, with its patrilineal system putting preference upon the male child. There are numerous
socioeconomic factors such as the unequal opportunities for females, retirement support that could
be provided by men, and better socio economic opportunities, like education and employment, that
is given to males. After the introduction of the one child policy, women scrambled to try and have
male children so that their children could have a chance at better social mobility, job options, etc.
The gender imbalance also negatively affects males, as there are not enough women to have as
wives, rear children, or provide insights and skills that a man cannot. But by doing this, the deficit
between males and females by sex ratio increased exponentially. In relation to this, global
interconnectivity through technological advances, such as the internet, affected how quickly
Western opinion on sex selective abortion was seen in Asian countries.
Appiah and Hvistendahl both have opposing opinions on how global interconnectivity affects other
cultures. According to Hvistendahl, . . . India s skewed ratio of male to female newborns was an
outgrowth of economic progress, not cultural backtracking (250).

Hearing Loss Essay
Who is affected by hearing loss?
Hearing loss is the most common physical disability in the whole wide world. In the United States
alone, about 28 million people have some level of hearing impairment that interferes with their
ability to understand normal speech and participate in conversations. Another 2 million cannot hear

Age is the most common factor in increasing hearing loss. About 30 percent of people between 65
and 74 experience some difficulty in hearing. That percentage and the severity of the loss increase
with age.
Younger people can develop hearing loss as well. Fourteen percent of people between the ages of
45 and 65, and another 8 million people between 18 and 44, suffer from some form of hearing

The Pros And Cons Of Public Services
Under the NPM umbrella, public sector has also been experiencing a shift to greater competition.
The need to remove monopoly of service delivery and create contestability, through privatization,
public tendering, and term contracts, justifies the adoption of competition principle (Dunleavy
1994; Hood 1991). Insisting to do bureaucratic provision on public servicesinstead of contracting
them out, knowing that private sectorcan deliver them better, it is believed would only force
governments to lose comparative advantages on price, efficiency, and effectiveness (Dunleavy
1994. p.49). This way, governments are able to fulfil their responsibility in providing services and
the financing, while simultaneously stimulate greater competition among providers under market
dynamics. However, it is hard to instigate public service ethos in private parties. Therefore, the
capacity of private entities to act consistently with the public interest is greatly questioned in this
scenario. Are concerns such as public health and safety, environment sustainability, and social
equity likely to be sacrificed underneath market mechanisms? When power is shared with
organizations which have business objectives apart from governments goals, the fundamental issue
is how to detect which missions they are carrying out. Many public services being delivered by
third parties are targeted for vulnerable sections of the community which can pose a higher risk of
potential abuse, neglect, exploitation, and

The dragon is unique. In many different cultures the dragon can be good, but in others it can be
bad. If the dragon is a symbol of China than there has to be a resemblance between China and the
dragon. China has invented a large percent of the products that people use everyday. For example,
the toothbrush was made in 1498 from bamboo and the neck hairs of a hog. Like in China the
dragon represents goodness and inventions are goodness and help. But China is widely known for
their pollution, which is negative. Connecting with other cultures the dragon is a negative character
just like the pollution is negative.

Americans in the 1920s were fresh off of World War I and freshly into the Prohibition Era. The
American Dream was well defined a life of wealth, comfort, and exuberance. After a World War I
victory, the Dream was thought to be in the near future for every American. The country was seen
as a world superpower, wealthy after the devastation of a war fought entirely overseas and
brimming with hope and possibility at least on the surface. Despite the highs experienced by much
of the country, it wasn t without its problems. Crime violence was benevolently running the streets
and the Speakeasies beyond the reach of full Prohibition, the world was being set up for The Great
Depression, and America was brimming with members of the Lost... Show more content on

Because of this injury, Jake cannot be with the woman he loves and this plot line serves as a
catalyst for the larger and far more important theme about the American Dream and chasing
everything desired, but never truly being able to achieve these dreams to satiation. Hemingway
portrays the Dream as both an overarching theme of the novel, but also shows us it s failures and
quirks through more minor means. Gender dynamics are broken and often swapped between
characters the protagonist, Jake Barnes, is unable to have sex or reproduce, putting him in a
more effeminate role as a man who must remain celibate for the remainder of his life. To
juxtapose this lack of masculine identity, Hemingway even places Jake opposite Lady Brett
Ashley (Jake s love interest throughout the novel) who self proclaims herself one of the chaps.
She oftens exhibits what has traditionally been considered masculine behavior. Brett has a
rebellious wild streak, smokes and drinks, lacks any religion or fully formed moral beliefs. She s
promiscuous and soon to be a divorcee. Brett seems to emasculate many of the men around her;
both because of her self confident, almost aggressive mannerisms and because of her ability to
collect and throw away men at her slightest whim. Lady Brett is everything (or at least many
aspects) of what Jake might have been the strong, self assured and self satisfied macho man who

The Effects of Domestic Violence
Domestic Violence What effects does domestic violence have on the victim and their families?
Domestic violence has a tremendous effect on people lives. It is a terrible crime and is
happening each day. It is said that every 9 seconds a women is assaulted or beaten. Domestic
violence is the leading cause of injury in women. This crime is very common and happens to
people that you may even know.
Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive and threatening behaviors that may include physical,
emotional, economic, and sexual violence as well as intimidation, isolation, and coercion. The
purpose of domestic violence is to establish and exert power and control over another; men most
often use it against their intimate partners, such as current or former spouses, girlfriends, or
dating partners. Domestic violence is often not paid much attention. People tend to look over it
and keep moving. Even the victims of domestic violence tend to keep them to their selves. They
are afraid to leave their abusers so they stay quiet and refuse to tell anyone about what is
happening. Some don t even think of themselves as abused. People that are close to the situation
also overlook it. Family members fail to recognize that someone close to them is getting abused.
Domestic violence is a behavior that is learned through observation and reinforcement in both the
family and society . Many of the abusers feel that men have power over women and have the right
to use force to ensure that control.

Common Practices in Religion
Although religions today take on many shapes and forms, and may seem so dramatically different
from each other, in order to study and understand these religions, their similarities must be
identified. This paper will first present a definition of religion that will connect to all religions at
the simplest base. Then this paper will examine the common practices and experiences that are
present in both the primary religions of the world, as well as the indigenous religions. Finally, this
paper will discuss the issues that are critical to the academic study of religions.
Definition of Religion

Michael Malloy identifies several of these critical issues in his book Experiencing the World s
Religions (2013). The first of these questions is whether the religion can truly be observed or is
the act of study changing the events observe, thus invalidating the research. If the religion cannot
be seen without altering the ceremony and culture, then study will only provide information on
what the observer can change, rather than what the religion is. Secondly, can the major religions
be classified into such groups, can all the Buddhist sects be labeled as Buddhist, or must the
religions be taken individually, and who makes the decision of what to label the religion. Lastly,
the issue of experiences of the religion by different interior groups. A researcher must ask what the
various experiences of the religions are between men and women, or the experiences of a child,
adolescent, adult, and elder. Also, a researcher must ask how the ceremonies are different for the
converted if the religion allows for converts.
Conclusion
This paper has presented a definition of religion, as well as an examination of its parts to
determine if the definition is adequate to apply appropriately. Secondly, this paper has examined
several practices and experiences common to both major religions of the worlds, as well as
indigenous religions. Lastly, the key critical issues of the study of religions and reasons for their
consideration have been identified and discussed.

My Current Company For Three Years
I have worked for my current company for three years. In that time, I have worked under two
Directors with two very different leadership styles. My first Director was more of an autocratic
leader who tends to centralize authority and derive power from position, control of rewards, and
coercion (Daft, 2015). Conversely, my second and current Director is a democratic leader who
delegates authority to others, encourages participation, relies on subordinates knowledge for
completion of tasks, and depends on subordinates respect for influence (Daft, 2015). These two
leadershipstyles are completely opposite, but leadership is needed in organizations. Leadership is

The company prides itself on having an open door policy, but I never once felt like I could walk
into her office and have a conversation. Since I could not talk to my Director I sought out other
managers within the organization to mentor me and help fulfill the expectations that I had for a
supervisor. The stressful environment that I worked in made it hard for me to grow
professionally. I also had very little motivation to work hard for someone who never
acknowledged any of my achievements. Her type of leadership made me work just hard enough to
avoid receiving an email from her detailing what I had done incorrectly. Due to her lack of
management, there was no trust between us because I did not respect her as a superior. I
completed exactly what was required and nothing more because the motivation was not there for
me to give that extra effort. She also routinely criticized subordinates in front of others causing
humiliation, offence and distress, and which may interfere with job performance and/or cause an
unpleasant working environment (Cooper, 2010). Due to her treatment of myself and my peers
none of us were willing to go above and beyond what was asked of us. It was tough to know what
was expected of us because we never had team meetings or one on one meetings to outline
expectations or to review past performance. This public criticism was embarrassing for those who
had to endure it and instilled fear in those who witnessed it. After working at the company

  • 2. Emigrant And Immigrants In The Kingdom Of The Netherlands Over the years, the Netherlands has seen a massive influx of immigrants, both refugees and economic, from all areas of the world. As a result, the current demographic of the Netherlands is characterized by 20% of the Dutch population [being] immigrants or children of immigrant parents (Ersanilli, 2007); thus, for that reason the importance of this topic/problem is further elevated. Coming from Curacao, a small island which forms part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands as well as whose economy depends on tourism and permanent migration, it is interesting to apply theories and empirical data to something that I have accepted as the norm. For some, living in a nation state where migration is extremely prevalent might not seem the norm, but for me it is; thus, it is compelling to see how this previous knowledge can be applied on a global scale. In order to thoroughly cover the different aspects of migration, the following points will be addressed: key definitions which aid in understanding of the topic; types of migration; the push and pull factors of migration; and the impacts on the source and destination countries. For the better understanding of this topic it is important to understand the distinction between immigrant and emigrant, as well as internal and external migration. Immigrant refers to someone who comes to a foreign country to live permanently, whereas a emigrant refers to an individual who leaves their home country to then permanently reside in a foreign country. Similarly, internal migration refers to people within a country moving to another location within its borders (e.g. from one city to another), whereas external migration refers to the act of migration across borders (e.g. from one country to another). Now that some key terms have been addressed, the types of migrants will be illustrated. People migrate to different countries for various different reasons. This results in the categorization of different migrants in relation to their reason for migrating, whether it be for social or economic reasons. The types of migrants include the following: temporary labor migrants, highly skilled migrants, irregular migrants, forced migrants, family reunification migrants, and return migrants. ... • 3. Panzihua Murder Story Auff What did you find? Panzihua. What? Do you remember the sign on the green barrel, the name of the nearby city. Well, most of the production is going there, and I guess why. There is a lot of attention around those barrels. This is for the green barrels. But what about the yellow ones? What about the Xeron? They burn it. Burn? Why so? Don t know, but what is inside the yellow barrels, always guarded by armed men, is burnt in a kind of... big oven. Mosi and Siro didn t understand. Why protect something that you have decided to burn? More: what was the real business about the trucks going to Panzihua. China was a big mystery indeed. Two days later, Liao Lin got sick and was hospitalized, while Mary was quickly progressing in her research of a specific cure for Xeron poisoning. The big problem was now to prevent new cases.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The sentence was enough for Mosi and Siro. Now they knew their mission, even if they would be alone in the action. One third of the gang was temporarily out, and Liao Lin was the only one speaking the local language. Come on clever man. Use your civilizados knowledge to get out an idea! Mosi wouldn t admit that far from her forest she was unable to elaborate a good plan. So, once in her life she needed to trust completely in her brother. Siro had actually a strange plan. He remembered how a computer had been useful in chasing away the gold diggers who were poisoning the Purus river. • 4. Analysis Of The First Hobbit Hole Upon Entrance During The... Please Note all Costs are in $NZD Strategy Outline The strategy I have chosen to investigate in order to grow Hobbitons Profit is adding a proffesional photo at the first hobbit hole upon entrance during the Hobbiton tour. This location is very suitable as it gives the staff time to develop your photo by the end of the tour and it is also apart of the movie so it will be recognisable and interesting to others, which is great marketing. This photo will be taken using all professional equipment and a staff member who has been trained in a one day photography course will be taking the photo. The photo can be taken as indivual, group, couple or however you please. At the end of your hobbiton tour so when you reach the pub, you will be given your photo when you receive your complimentary drink. The photo will be given to you in a glossy quirky frame that is special and unique to Hobbiton. Below is a small example of a tourism competitor Skyline Gondola, they offer this strategy as an additonal cost but it is compulsory for the photo to be taken. http://www.catchingthemagic.com/2013/05/loved luge riding in queenstown Business Case As I explained above the strategy I have chosen is a adding a proffesional photo into Hobbitons tour packages, this will be an increase in the ticket price. • 5. Cell Phines Chould Not Be Allowed in School ARRGUMENTATIVE RESEARCH PAPER SUBMITED TO: MRS PITA RHAM SUBMITED BY: DERVIN GARCIA ABSTRACT Cell phones are wireless phones that most people use now. First they used the home phone which is still used in different countries in the world. In 1834 a man named Michael Faraday, was studying if space could conduct electricity and he came with the idea to develop the cell phone. Cell phones are now used everywhere by anyone, even kids. This brings a problem, CELL PHONES in school. Cell phones should not be allowed in school. Cell phone has a harmful effect on teenagers. Student at high school should not be allowed with cell phones due to certain circumstances. There are many disadvantages derived from the uses of cell phones... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If the student has an emergency, don t you think that they should discuss the problem with the school counselor? Plus if they need to call this can easily be achieved by phoning their parents directly from school. Cell phones are distraction in class when learning is taken place. Many schools in higher crime areas began banning cell phones long time, due to the business of illegal drugs and other gang related activities. Students can be able to order and use illegal drugs during school hours and could have them delivered right to the school before the end of the day. This made it more convenient for the children because they are at school and away from the prying eyes of their parent. In the case of bomb threats at school, the threat itself was probably called into the school on a cell phone because of these devices; they cannot be traced by law enforcement officials. In other words to trace a bomb in a cell phone is difficult and to evacuate an entire school it s kind of hard. While most of these threats turn out to be hoaxes, a real bomb could possibly be detonated by cell phone usage. Also if the teenagers take phones to school, not every student will remember to put his/her phone on vibration, this can leads to classes interruption by the occasionally ring ... Mozart Symphony No. 40 Kendall Kaatz Dr. Galit Kaunitz Music Appreciation 1590 08 Due date: 9/30/14 Mozart Symphony No. 40 The piece that I decide to do was Mozart Symphony No. 40 because it seemed like it would have the most instruments, different dynamics and a different sound to it. There were a lot of instruments you could hear when you first listened to this piece. The first instruments that I heard right away were the violins, flutes, and oboes. As I kept listening I noticed the clarinets, bassoons, cello, viola, and the French horn. The instruments that seemed like they were the most important in this piece were the violins, because they started the piece and through out the rest of the piece they were always there being the main part of this piece. The melody in the first movement opens with the violins and they are then accompany by the violas and the cello. As you keep listening you notice that French horn, clarinets, flutes, and oboes contribute to the harmony. The first movement is also in the key signature of G minor. As you move through the first movement you enter into the second section which is in a different key. The key signature of the second movement is in B flat major. The instruments that have the melody this time are the violins along with the clarinets and bassoons. The mood through out the piece to me seemed to have a lightness and grace to it. During the piece I also realized that you pick up on a dark undertone. The dark undertone is in the harmony of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Further, a nurse s ability to better educate clients lies in his or her understanding of these terms. Literacy is a multilayered, dynamic and complex topic; however, in short literacy is a set of skills including reading, writing oral skills, numeracy skills, and skills that enable us to acquire knowledge and information (Keefe Copeland, 2011). Literacycan be understood through various theoretical lenses. Keefe Copeland also highlight five principles we must keep in mind when thinking about literacy (2011). Firstly, all people are capable of acquiring literacy, however methods of acquiring literacy vary greatly. Literacy is also a human right, given its ability to shape human experience Literacy also serves as a crucial empowerment tool. Social interaction also contributes to literacy; it is developed through human ability to build relationships. Lastly, literacy is not the responsibility of an individual alone. Community, and human interaction nurture literacy as well. All clients possess a degree of health literacy, and like literacy, it is a human right. It is a client s ability to understand written, spoken or numerical information, and make health care related decisions based on the information (Eadie, 2014). Paris has so much history and tradition all over the city. These remarkable landmarks and classical architecture are pervading over the city and it represents a history of France. Another unique about the Paris is that unlike any other cities, Paris makes the best use of what they have and maintain its characteristics while they modernize rebuilding the city. It looks like their attempt succeed and tourist from all over the world constantly show their love in Paris. However, it could be a different story for people who live in Paris. Of the planning and urban environment related issues in the film, the inconvenience of development and access, the complicated transportation system, and underdevelopment of residential districts. These planning issues cause a structural conflict on city planning and also a discomfort of daily life for people live in Paris. People s daily life sacrifices the convenience to maintain the city s history. In Whose Culture? Whose City? sociologist Sharon Zukin suggested that Gentrification, historic preservation, and other cultural strategies to enhance the visual appeal of urban spaces developed as major trends . • 13. Leading Through Change Leading Through and Beyond Change | L7451 A01 There are many reasons that change can or must occur within and organization. The key will be in understanding the organization and the prospective change. According to Mangundjaya (2015) there are many variables that can influence the success of organizational change, such as the content of the change, the process of the change, individual characteristics, leadership, external environment and organizational context (p. 67). Organizational change has the potential to successfully align an organization with its goals or completely derail any future success and progress. It is important that the organization takes the proper steps to prepare for, implement, and evaluate change. I believe that a key to leading through, and accepting, change can be effective communication. Although everyone may not be able to accept change, they should make that decision with proper information on hand. Poverty caused these women to lack essential needs to live a quality life. This ultimately affected the health of women and their children. For instance, lack of clean water and waste disposal facilities can cause health abnormalities such as cholera or typhoid fever which can cause devastating deaths. This is a healthcare problem because of the lack of funding. The lack of funding prevents antibiotics from being used to prevent death, and prevents African s from being vaccinated against typhoid fever. In Shakespeare s A Midsummer Night s Dream, Lysander says that the course of true love never did run smooth (Shakespeare 1.1.134), which is seen in the quarrels between the couples throughout the play. Shakespeare makes use chiefly of the fairies supernatural powers to settle the love conflicts and portrays the irrationality in love of the characters, thereby creating numerous comic situations and leading to the unification of the couples towards the end of the play. Helena is completely mixed up when Demetrius states that he is now in love with her because then both of Hermia s suitors are now wooing her. The conflicts in love that Shakespeare presents here are a way for him to start solving the love issues by bringing the couples together using the fairies magic powers. Indeed, by making Demetrius fall in love with the lady who loves him, he pleases Helena, who should normally be happy to have won her quest. However, since Lysander is also in love with her, she is not fooled, and knows that there is something unusual going on. She suspects that the gentlemen are teasing her scornfully by flout[ing] at [her] insufficiency (2.2.128). More confusion arises when Hermia arrives, and Helena says in line 3.2.192 that she is one of this confederacy of people who make fun of her. Then, Hermia comes to think that it is actually Helena who is playing a trick on her: I scorn you not. It seems that you scorn me (3.2.221). Adams March. 20,2015 Banning Cell Phone Use While Driving When we are on the road wreck less driving can be caused by a number of situations, which ultimately is all related to the driver being irresponsible. Many of us have witnessed drivers so distracted by their cell phones that they often resemble drunk drivers and we ve all seen the commercials of the distracted drivers who look down to read that one message and now suffer permanent brain damage or have ended someone elses life.. Researchers at Carnegie Mellon University used MRI brain scans to demonstrate that simply listening to a cell phone conversation while driving results in a drastic decrease in brain activity focused on driving (Gershowitz 582). A common misconception is the thought that hands free calling is safer than texting. This is very much untrue, the actual act of having a conversation causes the driver to be distracted. Texting while driving is more dangerous because texting requires cognitive functioning and requires the driver to take his eyes off the road. Distracted drivers often weave between lanes or forget to signal while driving; putting other drivers at risk while on the road. Recently, we have seen an increase in the concern over cell phone use while driving and an increase in legislation to prohibit this dangerous act. It is very important that cell phone use not only be regulated but strictly enforced because negligent drivers are a serious danger to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Science And Its Effect On Society Essay Science is the process which discovers knowledge, knowledge in turn is power, and power is said to bring about corruption. Therefore, through the transitive property, that implies that science will only lead to corruption. Not necessarily a corruption of one s actions; for instance, science won t make a politician accept a bribe. However, some would argue that sciencewill lead to a degradation of morals. For example, contemporary science may lead to a woman viewing her unborn baby as naught but a ball of cells, similar to a tumor, which can be removed from her body with no moral dilemma. The converse to this is the impediment of science due to humanity clinging to its archaic values. This can be shown by the opposition to stem cell research and genetically modified embryos in the name of morals and the inviolability of life. The stark contrast between following morals and advancing science creates a juxtaposition that often manifests itself as a debate between religionand science. Certain members of both the scientific and religious communities blindly adhere to their own opinions and ideals. This butting of heads helps no one. As a result, a middle road must be found, one in which neither progress nor moralityare ignored. The polarity between these two forces is encapsulated by the differences that Bertolt Brecht draws in his play Galileo between Galileo and the clergymen. This play, when contrasted with the reality of Galileo s studies, provides a vehicle to discuss the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Personality As An Understanding Of Personality As an understanding of personality, it is said that the essential paradigms of a personality are defined by individual s characteristics and behaviour. However over a period of time an individual s personality can change due to genetics and the altering nature of the environment they are placed within. Personality is in reference to individuals variances in their patterns of feeling, thinking and behaving (Encyclopedia of Psychology: 8 Volume Set, 2000). This essay will be focusing on the basic dimensions of a personality and also the factors influencing personality change. This then will be contrasted against a study that develops that personality does not change over time. Personality not only changes over time and experience but also manipulates as the individual goes through varying facades within their life. Several personality psychologists believe that personality is defined by five dimensions as suggested by McCrae and Costa (The Big Five dimensions of personality?, V.Egan, 1988). This was found by testing the conduct group by allowing them to choose a solution to a question that the teste believed was most suitable and thus showed that the test groups had presented 5 dominant characteristics, extroversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism and openness (The Big Five dimensions of personality?, V.Egan, 1988). The literary work is an allegory telling about Dante s journey through Hell. The inscription on the gates of Hell read, ABANDON EVERY HOPE, ALL YOU WHO ENTER (line 9). The chief punishment of all the inhabitants of the Inferno is no hope. They have no have no hope of salvation, no hope of release, no hope of any improvement, or escape from their punishments. Each inhabitant is punished in a fashion befitting their crime. For centuries, the meaning of justice is a controversial question. The punishments in Dante s Hell are justified in proportion to their sin. The Ante Inferno is like a hall before entering a church of government building. The Ante Inferno is essentially a vestibule into Hell. The people here are the ones who are rejected by God and not accepted by the powers of Hell . The souls are nowhere because of their cowardly refusal to make a choice in life . Their punishment is to follow a banner at a furious pace forever, and to be tormented by flies and hornets (Canto III Intro pg. 1607). These people chose themselves. They chase a blank banner which is nothing. They chose their fate to choose nothing. The punishment is justified because they are nothing so they chase nothing. The books makes great points that in order to allow the audience to know when a conclusion is coming phrases like In conclusion , In summary , As I close , or I would like to end with can all be good transition phrases. One more weakness I would say was the lack of research to support my ideas. In regards to how to gather a speech the book says the research you need in order to develop and support your presentation can and should come from a variety of sources. Depending on the topic, you must use internal sources, external sources, or a combination of two (272) From watching the video I felt I used to many internal sources and not enough external sources. I was disappointed because I had many sources at hand but I didn t mention them as much as I would have liked because I was so worried about forgetting my body of the speech. Emily Dickinson s Because I Could Not Stop for Death Emily Dickinson s Because I could not stop for Death is a remarkable masterpiece that exercises thought between the known and the unknown. In Dickinson s poem, Because I could not stop Death, there is much impression in the tone, in symbols and in the use of imagery that over flow with creativity. One might undoubtedly agree to an eerie, haunting, if not frightening, tone and use of symbolism in Dickinson s poem. Dickinson uses controlling adjectives slowly and passed to create a tone that seems rather placid. For example, We slowly drove He knew no Haste / ...We passed the School ... / We passed the Setting Sun (5,9,11,12), sets a slow, quiet, and clam ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first site We passed was the School, where children strove (9). Because it deals with an important symbol, the Ring this first scene is perhaps the most important. On this invited journey, one vividly sees Children playing. Laughing and singing. This scene conveys emotions and moods through verbal pictures. The imagery in the final scene, We passed the Setting Sun (12) is very emotional. One can clearly picture a warm setting sun, perhaps, over a grassy horizon. The idea of a setting sun, aftermath a fact of slumber in a cold dark night. When Dickinson passed the Setting Sun, night drew nigh and it was time to go home and sleep. Symbolically, her tour of life was over; it was now time for Eternity death. While sight seeing in the carriage, one can gather, by the setting of the sun, that this ride was glimpse of life flashing before her eyes; just as said to happen before you die. Lines 14 and 15 seem to support this idea. The dews drew quivering and chill / For only Gossamer, my Gown (14 15). This indicates a pleasant time cut short. Before she knew it, the cold Dew[s] (14) had set in. The imagery in this transcendent poem shines great light on some hidden similarities between life and death. This poem exercises both the thoughts and emotions of readers. Eternity and Death are two important characters in Dickinson s Because I could ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. The Dangers Of Music Censorship In Music Music Censorship In today s society music has turned into one of the most influential factors of socialization in children and youth. Young audiences are constantly exposed to popular music through various radio stations, internet websites, and technology. Since popular music has been making a notable impact on young generations, the government has put into place the censorship of music. Censorship is the alteration of ideas or lyrics in music that are deemed unsuitable for public hearing. Music that sends messages against moral norms of society are subject to get censored when getting aired on radio stations or sold in stores. Everyday people are exposed to the censorship of music especially when listening to music on the radio. Censorship takes effect every time a word or phase gets bleeped out or removed from a song. A national debate between artists and government has become a real issue of whether music should be censored or not. On one hand, artists have the rights to freely express themselves through music. In opposition, the government can censor music that has any philosophical objections in its meaning. Artist may feel a challenge in boundaries when it comes to writing and publishing music since they have to abide by many laws, or accept that their music will be modified. Since the discovery of plasticit has become the go to material of choice due to its cheap price of production. Unfortunately because of its high production rate and the fact that it s essentially non biodegradable it has started to consume our planet from landfills, to rivers, and our oceans. The paper concludes with a set of recommendations and mitigation strategies to slow down the rate of coral bleaching, thus allowing coral reefs to adapt and develop resilience in the face of climate change. (Andrew, Glynn, Riegl, 2008) This loss of zooxanthellae or the reduction in their pigment concentration from the host is referred to as coral bleaching. Bleaching turns the host coral white, as the skeleton becomes visible through the coral s transparent tissue. Bleached corals can survive without their counterparts for weeks or months. However, as this symbiosis is vital for reef building, the absence of it significantly reduces coral growth and reproductive ability, eventually leading to reef mortality. (Knowlton, 2001) Causes of Coral Bleaching Coral reefs have suffered degradation due to anthropogenic activities for decades. The direct and indirect effects of overfishing and pollution from agriculture and land development have been the major drivers of coral reef decline over the past two centuries. More importantly, these threats to coral reefs have been compounded and exacerbated by superimposed impacts of global climate change, such as rising sea temperature and level, and increased ocean acidification. (T. P. Hughes, 2003) Coral reefs are found in coastal tropical environments, typically between latitudes 25oS and 25oN, and can tolerate water temperatures ranging from 18oC to 30oC. Declines in newspaper readership and television news viewing among many Americans suggests that objectively reported news is a failing philosophy. However, no other style emerged to replace objective journalism in America (Campbell 276). Alternatives to objective journalism do exist in today s media field. Cunningham references two reporters in Louisville who helped resolve several court cases. Jason Riley and R.G. Dunlop investigated their local court system, and uncovered several cases that had not been settled. They reported the overall dysfunction in the county courts, and won a Polk award for the series of articles. This example of the partisan style of journalism was simply to research extensively and call the issues into question (Cunningham par. 29). It was not passive like everyday objective journalism; it was completely aggressive. If journalists are really doing their jobs, they should be doing more proactive reporting. They should not be resigned to report the obvious one side versus another, but instead should ask the tough questions, confront problems, and suggest solutions. Cunningham cites a few specific examples of how objectivity has hampered journalism today. Only 12 out of 574 major network evening news reports confronted the issue of the Iraqi War aftermath. This obviously illustrates the hesitation the media has in questioning and speculating major political decisions. Generally, the press does not feel any obligation to call out politicians and elected officials about their decisions. Instead, some facts are reported, and no one is ... There are numerous socioeconomic factors such as the unequal opportunities for females, retirement support that could be provided by men, and better socio economic opportunities, like education and employment, that is given to males. After the introduction of the one child policy, women scrambled to try and have male children so that their children could have a chance at better social mobility, job options, etc. The gender imbalance also negatively affects males, as there are not enough women to have as wives, rear children, or provide insights and skills that a man cannot. But by doing this, the deficit between males and females by sex ratio increased exponentially. In relation to this, global interconnectivity through technological advances, such as the internet, affected how quickly Western opinion on sex selective abortion was seen in Asian countries. The need to remove monopoly of service delivery and create contestability, through privatization, public tendering, and term contracts, justifies the adoption of competition principle (Dunleavy 1994; Hood 1991). Insisting to do bureaucratic provision on public servicesinstead of contracting them out, knowing that private sectorcan deliver them better, it is believed would only force governments to lose comparative advantages on price, efficiency, and effectiveness (Dunleavy 1994. p.49). This way, governments are able to fulfil their responsibility in providing services and the financing, while simultaneously stimulate greater competition among providers under market dynamics. However, it is hard to instigate public service ethos in private parties. Therefore, the capacity of private entities to act consistently with the public interest is greatly questioned in this scenario. Are concerns such as public health and safety, environment sustainability, and social equity likely to be sacrificed underneath market mechanisms? Hamid Drake s stalwart quartet let the emotions run high with a one hour non stopping performance. Besides the gifted drummer, on stage were the experienced 81 year old Kidd Jordan on saxophone, Cooper Moore on piano, and Michael Bisio on double bass. Their experience and extraordinary sense of unity could be appreciated throughout the breathtaking concert, which relied on wild improvisational creativity, incendiary dynamics and languages, and super articulated, if sometimes completely refracted, rhythms. You can think of an intoxicating odyssey whose noisy prayers and agitated passages are gradually transformed into calm and breathable atmospheres, essential to regroup forces and continue exulting inspiration. Drake and Bisio formed a cohesive and tireless rhythm section, persisting in fast paces, while Cooper Moore and Jordan embarked on a sort of musical game where they rejoiced and sang and invoked Coltrane, Caravan , and Round Midnight . REL 113 Common Practices in Religion Common Practices in Religion Calvin Young REL 133 March 31, 2015 Mr. William Sunday Common Practices in Religion Although religions today take on many shapes and forms, and may seem so dramatically different from each other, in order to study and understand these religions, their similarities must be identified. This paper will first present a definition of religion that will connect to all religions at the simplest base. Then this paper will examine the common practices and experiences that are present in both the primary religions of the world, as well as the indigenous religions. Finally, this paper will discuss the issues that are critical to the academic study of religions. Definition of Religion The most common failing in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michael Malloy identifies several of these critical issues in his book Experiencing the World s Religions (2013). The first of these questions is whether the religion can truly be observed or is the act of study changing the events observe, thus invalidating the research. If the religion cannot be seen without altering the ceremony and culture, then study will only provide information on what the observer can change, rather than what the religion is. Secondly, can the major religions be classified into such groups, can all the Buddhist sects be labeled as Buddhist, or must the religions be taken individually, and who makes the decision of what to label the religion. Lastly, the issue of experiences of the religion by different interior groups. A researcher must ask what the various experiences of the religions are between men and women, or the experiences of a child, adolescent, adult, and elder. Also, a researcher must ask how the ceremonies are different for the converted if the religion allows for converts. Conclusion This paper has presented a definition of religion, as well as an examination of its parts to determine if the definition is adequate to apply appropriately. Secondly, this paper has examined several practices and experiences common to both major religions of the worlds, as well as indigenous religions. • 54. My Current Company For Three Years I have worked for my current company for three years. In that time, I have worked under two Directors with two very different leadership styles. My first Director was more of an autocratic leader who tends to centralize authority and derive power from position, control of rewards, and coercion (Daft, 2015). Conversely, my second and current Director is a democratic leader who delegates authority to others, encourages participation, relies on subordinates knowledge for completion of tasks, and depends on subordinates respect for influence (Daft, 2015). These two leadershipstyles are completely opposite, but leadership is needed in organizations. Leadership is the heart and soul of an organization. Leadership is the ability to inspire... Since I could not talk to my Director I sought out other managers within the organization to mentor me and help fulfill the expectations that I had for a supervisor. The stressful environment that I worked in made it hard for me to grow professionally. I also had very little motivation to work hard for someone who never acknowledged any of my achievements. Her type of leadership made me work just hard enough to avoid receiving an email from her detailing what I had done incorrectly. Due to her lack of management, there was no trust between us because I did not respect her as a superior. I completed exactly what was required and nothing more because the motivation was not there for me to give that extra effort. She also routinely criticized subordinates in front of others causing humiliation, offence and distress, and which may interfere with job performance and/or cause an unpleasant working environment (Cooper, 2010). Due to her treatment of myself and my peers none of us were willing to go above and beyond what was asked of us. It was tough to know what was expected of us because we never had team meetings or one on one meetings to outline expectations or to review past performance. This public criticism was embarrassing for those who had to endure it and instilled fear in those who witnessed it. After working at the company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Duchess Alternate Ending It was the White Rabbit, trotting slowly back again, and looking anxiously about as it went, as if it had lost something; and she heard it muttering to itself `The Duchess! The Duchess! Oh my dear paws! Oh my fur and whiskers! She ll get me executed, as sure as ferrets are ferrets! Where CAN I have dropped them, I wonder? Alice guessed in a moment that it was looking for the fan and the pair of white kid gloves, and she very good naturedly began hunting about for them, but they were nowhere to be seen everything seemed to have changed since her swim in the pool, and the great hall, with the glass table and the little door, had vanished completely. Very soon the Rabbit noticed Alice, as she went hunting about, and called out to her in an angry tone, `Why, Mary Ann, what ARE you doing out here? Run home this moment, and fetch me a pair of gloves and a fan! Quick, now! And Alice was so much frightened that she ran off at once in the direction it pointed to, without trying to explain the mistake it had made.... She went in without knocking, and hurried upstairs, in great fear lest she should meet the real Mary Ann, and be turned out of the house before she had found the fan and gloves. `How queer it seems, Alice said to herself, `to be going messages for a rabbit! I suppose Dinah ll be sending me on messages next! And she began fancying the sort of thing that would happen: ` Miss Alice! Come here directly, and get ready for your walk!
